French Home Red 3 Quart Rectangular Gratin Baking Dish Review
The description that is here on Amazon does not give many details. This item is enameled cast iron. The brand itself is actually La Chasseur which is made in France. It is dishwasher safe and induction compatible. The cooking area is 13.5" by 8.5" inches and the handles are an inch in length. Its size makes it great for putting meats and veggies together. I made a pineapple upside cake in this and it came out perfect. It distributes heat evenly. I have compared to other brands that I use (Emile Henry, Revol, Lodge Logic etc.) and it definitely is up there with them. The instructions do say not to use metal utensils with this item.
Best Kitchen Wrap Organizer Deals
It's hard to complain about this one. It does what it's supposed to do. I wish it was bigger, but it wouldn't fit in the cabinet if it was. It's pretty good for what it is.

I don't know how it happened but I somehow inherited all these different kinds of wraps. This organizer really helped tame the avalance that was always threatening. I hated trying to find the wrap I needed and risking a cut from the surrated cutting edge when I reached into the pile. With this organizer, the tops tend to stay down and I can see just what I wanted. The only thing I can think of that would make it better is if it were a little deeper so it handled the extra long wrap boxes. Still, I am happy with the purchase.Best Deals for Kitchen Wrap Organizer
I bought this organizer about 6 months ago and its done pretty well. My only complaint is that you have to be really careful putting the boxes in or it will go to far and slide right out the back. Also, some of the larger economy size boxes don't fit so those have to go on top. All in all, I'm glad I have it but it does take a little more "be careful" when using than I would like.Honest reviews on Kitchen Wrap Organizer

I have a big family, with big-eating teen boys, and I use my pots and pans daily. I honestly had wanted to purchase the Cephalon set, but just couldn't afford it. I saw this set loved the red color and purchased it as a "second choice" boy am I glad I did! The biggest frypan is used at least twice a day without fail! They all still look nearly as good as the day I bought them about two years ago the nonstick coating is still perfect and works beautifully. We handwash them there's never room in the d/w for pans anyway and literally I never even put the fry pan away, just turn it upside down on the stovetop. They cook so evenly, never scorch, and even when I overcooked the rice one night it just browned inside and literally wiped out with a paper towel.
This set KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware is MUCH thinner and lighter weight, the heat distribution and retention is less impressive than the Gourmet Anodized set. These pans are so light I would only recommend them over the Gourmet Anodized set if you have mobility issues and are purposely seeking to fill a need for lightweight cookware.
All the pot sizes are smaller and less useful and the handles are not as good as the Gourmet Anodized. You do not get an 8 quart pot for cooking pasta, the squat 6 quart pot that comes in this set is smaller than I like to cook spaghetti, but will make a good soup pot. You do not get a fry pan you can cook more than 3 eggs in, so you will probably need to purchase an additional fry pan of larger size. If you have a lot of big pots already, this set may be a good filler set to have smaller pans to choose from.
The red color of this set is a very dark brick color, darker than the photo even, so if someone is wanting a true red this is not a good choice esthetically. I think the KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware set is better designed and more attractive with its Windsor shaped sides; the narrower bases look nice and allow better fit on smaller stovetops without compromising on size. The KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware does not come in colors, but if I have to choose between matching decor and function, I would choose function.
All that said, this KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware set is much better than the starter sets you see in Bed Bath & Beyond for $75-$100. So if someone you know has one of those cheaper-made cookware sets on their wish list, spend the extra money on this set and really delight them. If you are looking for pans to last a couple decades, spring for the KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware, I bought the additional two-burner griddle and it is GREAT too.
These are lighter weight than my hard-anodized Circulon pans and way lighter, of course, than cast iron. Also, note that this set doesn't include any really large pots or pans. I immediately thought that this set would be well-suited to an older person with diminished hand/arm strength and a smaller household.
Inside the box there is a special disclosure about care and use issues. One of the warnings is directed toward people who have glass-top ranges (as I do). The warning says you should never allow a pot or pan to boil dry on a glass-top range, as that can result in the pan fusing to the cooktop. I vividly recall my mother-in-law allowing a kettle to boil dry on my old electric cooktop and that happened, so I was not surprised or disturbed by the warning. I can manage to avoid something like that happening again.
But the disclosure document went on to say that a pot or pan could fuse to the cooktop if you move a hot pot/pan to an unheated part of the cooktop. Well, that happens all the time at my house. When we finish cooking something, we just move the pot or pan over to one of the turned-off burners on the other side of the cooktop. I know we won't consistently remember not to do that, so it certainly gave me pause. We did some research about the issue and found some reports of people who said they hadn't had any fusion problems, so it's probably just one of those excess-of-caution warnings, but it's something that a potential buyer should be aware of and take into account before making a buying decision.

I received this pots and pans as a birthday present to go in to my newly remodeled kitchen. I love the red color! Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have this set of KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware and a set of KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware and the latter is definitely worth the extra money. When I created this review the KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware was selling for $150 and the set of KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware was selling for $178, so my criticisms are based on the savings of only $28. I was really excited to receive this new cookware when I ordered it online. the colors are really nice, red is my fave color and frying is not that hard anymore. when I fried some egg rolls and fish, it is evenly cook and so i am guessing that the heat is evenly distrubuted in the entire frying pan. i think the price is in the right range. i hope this would last 5-10 years, its predecessor lasted for almost 10years :)Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set

My wife and I bought this for each other for an anniversary gift several years ago. We use it on a regular basis, and it has held up well. It adds a beautiful touch of cheery color to our kitchen and stove top, and is quite practical and the same time. The whistle is a not obnoxious, which we appreciate, and the handle stays cool to the touch. The double walled lid seals nicely over the opening and helps the water heat up faster than some of the other kettles we've used. It also has a durable finish that cleans well. The only slight draw back to this product is it's smallish size. It holds enough water to fill up a standard size coffee press or coffee cups for about four people max. At the same time, the small size gives it an appealing look and is perfect for us, so I give it 5 stars over all.
It was a used, one but it looked brand new.

Great little tea kettle. The enamel coating makes it easy to clean and prevents the rust that develops in the seams of cheap metal kettles. (As the instructions note, and as is true of all enameled cookware, you do need to be sure not to heat this when empty, or let it boil dry: scorch that enamel and there's no way to repair it.) The handle is high enough to allow access to the lid while the handle remains upright, but you can fold the handle down if you must -it just takes a little force to do so, which is nice since it prevents the handle from falling over by itself toward the heat of the stove. The whistle, in order to be effective, requires you to put the lid on securely after filling the kettle with water, which also takes a bit of elbow grease -but if the lid is on there cock-eyed, the steam will escape through that gap before building enough pressure to activate the whistle. Le Creuset, always the gold standard in cookware with its enamel-on-cast iron products, has equaled that quality with this enamel-on-steel kettle, at lower weight than cast iron. Plus, it's just incredibly beautiful -I'd leave it out on the stovetop all the time even if I didn't use it, just so I could look at it every day.Best Deals for Le Creuset Enamel-on-Steel Demi 1-1/4-Quart Teakettle, Marseille

This teakettle is pretty small, but is perfect for single cups of tea, or for adding some hot water to a homemade americano! It takes a while to boil even a little bit of water, because you have to use a smaller flame for the smaller kettle, but that's okay with me. I've only had it for a month, but it feels very well made. The handle is comfortable to hold, and the spout cover feels like it will last. I noticed some reviewers said the whistle doesn't work, but I'm not having that problem, I can hear it from across the house.Sunday, November 2, 2014

I am replacing all my bakeware with the Nordic Ware aluminum pans like this one. I always thought non-stick was the best for baking, but they never hold up, food sticks even when the non-stick is greased, and now all the warnings about health concerns is the final negative. I bought the Nordic Ware muffin tin to try and now have bought the round cake pan, the pie tins, and the square cake pan. I will be replacing all my pans with the Nordic Ware. It is beautiful, very heavy-duty, well-made bakeware that doesn't warp or discolor (I do hand-wash it and dry it in the oven). I grease it and nothing sticks, everything cooks evenly and comes out perfect. I am so impressed with this line of bakeware it really is the best I've used, and I've bought far more expensive pans from Williams-Sonoma and other high-end stores that cannot come close to the quality of these pans. Highly recommend them!

I recently found these pans and bought two. They have a wonderful heavy weight to them unlike other pans made elsewhere. I made an upside down pineapple cake in one and it came out perfect! I'll have these cake pans for years, because I've used them a bunch already, and, being heavy duty, they cook evenly. I have two for stacking layers. no frills, heavy, well made. spray the bottom and sides with pam, line the bottom with a circle of baking paper. run a knife along the perimeter when the cake is cool and voila! comes out clean every time. a great product. can't do any better, in my opinion.Tuesday, October 28, 2014

This is the second Cooks Standard sauce pan I've purchased. I got the 3 Quart pan for myself a few months ago and use it all the time. Now I have the 1.5 Quart pan and am just as thrilled with it! I am a fan of really good quality cook and bakeware but don't really have the funds for all the big name brands like All-Clad, so I did tons of research to find a brand that has similar features and great quality, but at a much more affordable price. After combing through a ton of reviews, I decided on the Cooks Standard and am SO happy that I did. This pan was under $18, while the comparable All-Clad pan runs anywhere from $70 to $100+ depending where you buy it!
A few points about why I love these pans so much:
-nothing sticks
-easy to clean
-heavy bottom for even heating
-handle stays cool to the touch when used on the stove top
-can put them in the oven
-way more than just a sauce pan-you can steam, saute, fry or braise in them also
-lids have a great fit
-look great!
I really recommend this to anyone who needs new pots and pans...now I kind of wish I'd just bought the whole set, but it's also fun to look forward to a new piece arriving each time I order another pan!
Testing this sauce pan I made a poached egg. From my first attempt the egg's color, texture and shape was simply remarkable.
The handle ergonomics is simply the best fitting to my hand I ever experienced in the greatest comfort, support and balance. The handle has what I might call a double "Y" design creating the best heat insulation ever. The metal handle hardly gets warm when cooking.
The metal lids are also well designed with an equally well designed lid handle .
I now own the Cooks Standard Wok and both the small and large sauce pans. I have gladly donated my old cookware to charity.

At the outset, I want to note that I am very happy and have no problem using stainless pans for 90+% of my cooking. But for a few things (e.g., eggs) I just prefer to use a nonstick pan. Meanwhile, we have had All-Clad pans for more than a decade and we have been very happy with them EXCEPT for a couple of nonstick pans we bought. The nonstick surface wore off the pans too quickly and they just did not last like the rest of our stainless steel All-Clad pans have over the years.
So my wife picked up this Calphalon 8 inch omelet pan for those few occasions where I want a nonstick surface.
This pan rocks! It was apparent right from the start that the nonstick material(s) on this pan totally outclass what the All-Clad pans use. And this pan has proven to hold up much better. We have been using this pan for well over a year now and the interior still looks like new. I have no doubt that this pan will last us for many more years.
I still love my All-Clad stainless steel pans. But when it comes to nonstick pans, I think Calphalon is better and the best I have ever used.
UPDATE 1/20/12
The nonstick surface on this pan is still working great . . . while the surface on my last All-Clad "non-stick" pan (a 10 inch skillet) became totally useless. So we tossed the All-Clad pan and bought the Calphalon 10 inch Unison non-stick skillet that is the companion to this one. If possible, it seems that they have even IMPROVED the non-stick surface on these pans. Again, I really like my other All-Clad pans, but for some reason they just don't seem to make a good non-stick pan. Until they do, I highly recommend these Calphalon pans.
Cooks food very well and cleans up with ease.
Just what the everyday cook ordered!

I have had Calphalon since we got married in 1997. This set of pots and pans (new for 2009) are by far the "best" version of Calphalon I have ever seen! I can practically wipe them down, they are so easy to clean. They are also dishwasher safe, which is what I need given my busy lifestyle. Of note, you can't use PAM or such sprays on this new Unison set. No problemo as it cooks everything with about 1/3 the oil required. I hardly use any oil (get MISTO spray and put olive oil in there) and the pans cook up everything perfectly. The handles are supposed to be stay cool types but like other metal handles, they do heat up if left on the stove for a long time (or if they are short handles like those on the large stock pots). Great set overall! Cannot recommend highly enough.Best Deals for Calphalon Unison Omelette Pans
While the pan has performed well, there is a 1/8-inch flaw in the non-stick coating. So far it appears to be cosmetic and does not affect the cooking properties. Not worth returning.Honest reviews on Calphalon Unison Omelette Pans
My husband and I purchased this omelette pan after purchasing the Unison 15 piece set (omellete pan didn't come with the set). Although the pan is expensive, it is worth every penny! Excellent quality, so easy to use and clean. You don't have to put butter or oil in the pan . . .great for healthy cooking! Make sure to grease the pan before using it for the first time and wait for the pan to cool completely before washing. I'm gonna turn 3-4 eggs into garbage, but I'll do it again, make a video and will put it on youtube for everyone to see. But that'll be the last, as I will not spend my valuable time anymore trying to clean this garbage.
Going to try SanPan next. and if that will not deliver, will go back to old school iron.

The non-stick coating seems much less likely to become damaged in normal use than is the case with standard 'Teflon' non-stick pans . The ceramic non-stick is very effective and the pan always cleans easily. The metal base to the handle becomes very hot in use but, other than that, this pan is perfect.Best Deals for Berghoff Scala Non-Stick Fry Pan
I have used this skillet daily for about 3 weeks and I have followed use and care instructions carefully. It worked beautifully at first, but it has gotten gradually less non-stick so that now I have a skillet that sticks and reqires just as much oil as any other for cooking. Big disappointment and a waster of money.Honest reviews on Berghoff Scala Non-Stick Fry Pan
I got this to compliment the 5 piece Scala set and it's amazing cookware. See my review on the 5-piece Scala set for more info.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Berghoff Scala Non-Stick Fry Pan
Purchased this one, and after a month of good use with no apparent problems bought a set. 4 months later junk. simple scrumbled eggs turn into cooking nightmare as it sticks all over the surface and if you think it's easy to clean...do not kid yourself, soaked in water for hours, even overnight ...couldn't even scrub it off. Oh, and for those who thinks I do not know I do know how to take care of them, maintain them, clean all according to the book ( after all, when you spend that much, you should take a good care of it). Too bad I didn't take a pic or video. Their support was ridiculous as the say they are not responsible for the food sticking to it.I'm gonna turn 3-4 eggs into garbage, but I'll do it again, make a video and will put it on youtube for everyone to see. I really like this sauce pan and I use it a couple of times a week. It is great to have a non-stick pan when I'm cooking grits or oatmeal for breakfast. My one and only complaint is that the ceramic coating is a bit too thin. If you baby this sauce pan it might last a lot longer but that's not how it works in our house. If you put this in the sink and someone comes along and drops in a spoon or puts another smaller pan in it or something bumps up against it on accident then it will leave a scratch or a dent or there will be a hole in the coating. If on the other hand you wash and dry this immediately after each use then it should last a long time. The cost is reasonable so buying one of these every year might make sense to some folks. When mine gets real worn I'll get another one.

This is the best nonstrick griddle I have purchased. You only need to heat medium to medium-high to get the best result. I use a little oil to give flavor to the food I am cooking and everything slides right off! I use it to make a lot of chicken. The pleasant surprise is that I can now make eggs over easy on medium heat sets nicely to be able to flip without breaking the egg and without overcooking it. This is the first pan I have ever been able to achieve this. Since it is such a nice size, I cook eggs and ham and other items all at the same time.
Unlike other nonstick pans I have purchased in the past, it has retained its' "nonstick".
Pros:
-Nice Build quality.
-Easy cleaning.
-Even heat distribution.
Cons:
Non so far..
Note: For people like me who are planning to use this griddle for Chapathis and Dosas... This is the griddle...even heat distribution helps you to make awesome dosas and chapathis...you can't go wrong with this one...
I only wish that it was made in the USA instead of China.

I have used this pan extensively, mostly for pancakes. I think I have had it about two years now. Food now sticks to it and it is no longer easy to clean. I never wash nonstick pans in the dishwasher and try to avoid high heat with them, although I am sure there were a few burnt pancake and blackened toasted sandwiches (mea culpa). This pan is thick enough to heat evenly and not warp. Probably the worst mechanical wear my pan has had is storing one pan atop another.Honest reviews on All-Clad 30124 Specialty 12-Inch Round Hard Anodized Aluminum
I mistakenly assumed that all All Clad pans would work on my induction cooktop. The LTD collection does not :( (For future reference, only the Stainless Steel pans will work on induction.) It's a gorgeous pan so I'm sad I cannot use it.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for All-Clad 30124 Specialty 12-Inch Round Hard Anodized Aluminum
Being a cook that entertains a lot of guess. I found this griddle to be a delight. Nothing does stick to it. Just follow the simple rules about the finish and you'll have a pan for a lot of years.I only wish that it was made in the USA instead of China.

Simply Calphalon Nonstick 7-qt. Dutch Oven & Cover Reviews

List Price: $80.00

When I bought my calphalon kettles, I failed to notice that the set included a 5 quart dutch oven which was smaller than I was used to but serviceable.
I searched on line and found the Simply Calphalon 7 quart dutch oven at a good price AND got free shipping.
It is everything it promised to be even cooking, easy cleaning, clear cover to monitor soups and stews.
Problem? I was cooking 5 quarts of food and it fed my family...now I cook 7 quarts and we eat that too. Maybe I need to go low fat...
Pros:
* Insulated handles
* Large capacity
* Lightweight
* The non-stick coat really works, and seems durable
* The lid is nice and fits pretty well
Cons:
* The insulation doesn't cover all of the handles, so if you're not careful with your fingers, it's easy to get burned
* The box didn't include any user manual, care guide or warranty information all you get is the box, the pan, and some plastic wrap

Dutch Ovens... there are plenty out there to look at and chose from. This particular Make and Model "fills the bill" nicely, so to speak. You can use it for unlimited purposes, the handles will not melt (they have a special rubberized wrapping), the Pot & Glass Top are very well made of Calphalon. Lastly the Pot cleans up easily because of its material, and the product is made in America. Hence this product is a win-win in our household, do not be afraid to purchase this product.Best Deals for Simply Calphalon Nonstick 7-qt. Dutch Oven & Cover
This is a prefect size pot for our family, and is getting significant use. We eat a lot of soups and stews. Something we really appreciate are the insulated handles that allow you to pick up the pot, while hot, without using oven pads or mitts. A terrific kitchen tool at a very good proce. We plan on extending our purchases of Calphalon cookware.Honest reviews on Simply Calphalon Nonstick 7-qt. Dutch Oven & Cover
I've made several meals in my Dutch Oven and I've been very pleased. No matter how thick the sauce is, nothing has stuck to the pan. I made a cream of turkey soup last night and when I poured it into a bowl, the pot was nearly clean. It's a medium weight not flimsy and not too heavy to handle. I use it on the top of the stove and in the oven. I would definitely recommend this Dutch Oven.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Simply Calphalon Nonstick 7-qt. Dutch Oven & Cover

Discount Artland Iris Highball, 17-Ounce, Set of 4
We like glasses made of thick glass that kind of resemble the crackle glass styles of old. I think the price is reasonable: $5 apiece. We had another set of the amber color that have been our everyday glasses for over five years. They still look out of the box new. This glass doesn't seem to scuff like the cheap thin glass does.
Very disapointing.

Was searching for purple glasses I could use every day and am very pleased with this selection. The color is great. Liked the shape and weight. Also ordered the smaller (7-8 oz?) size and use them both every day. Amazon was the only source I found for this type of glass.Best Deals for Artland Iris Highball, 17-Ounce, Set of 4
These glasses, although beautiful, crack and shatter with little or no provocation.Very disapointing.

I'm in love with these cups! They are stunning in person. Not your typical glasses (which I love). They arrived on time and well packed. To me the glasses are thick and they have some weight to them. They not not likely to get chipped or cracked if they get hit softly. Overall I do recommend. The color matches the online photo. There were no surprises there.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Artland Iris Highball, 17-Ounce, Set of 4
I've had these glasses in red for over two years now and they still look beautiful! They are durable, very thick with a heavy base. They have a bubble effect, which looks great! They transition well from everyday to slightly formal dining. They have a mark on the bottom that I think is from being hand blown. Because of this, they are all just barely different heights, which you only notice when you put them away in the cabinet. If you are looking for glasses that won't break easily and look amazing, look no further!
