I purchased this as a gift and was pleased when it arrived. It looked very nice, the pictures of the garment were accurate, and the fit on the recipient was spot on.

The problem is this is not a very good apron. It is made of a very thin cotton with a bit of a sheen/screen on the material. It just does not work well as a "working" apron, even in the home. Now, if you want something cute to throw on at a cocktail or dinner party after all the cooking is done so you can be dressed the part of the well appointed hostess and home maker, then this is perfect.

I'm not saying I don't like the item, but just know what it is before you make your purchase, and be sure you don't actually need an apron instead of a fashion accessory.

I ordered the aqua damask. I was very torn because so many of the flirty apron patterns are adorable. I loved loved loved this apron when I first put it on. It's made from a double-layered, polyester-type fabric that seemed sturdy and pretty much waterproof. The straps for the neck tie in the back, so you can set how the apron sits on you (plus a cute tie around the neck adds a little extra bit of femininity to the whole affair). The waist ties are long so they accommodate almost any figure, and easily tie make a pretty bow in the front. The pocket in the front is helpful too. Overall, a winner!

Now on to the negatives (or why this item didn't get 5 stars): after I washed the apron, I noticed that the black pattern on the front didn't hold up well in the washer. The design was somewhat compromised and looked like it was worn off in places, which in my mind is a tragedy, since I bought this mostly because it was pretty. The neck and waist ties got incredibly shriveled up, and one of the neck straps started separating from the apron itself.

Perhaps I need to wash this on delicate... but honestly the whole purpose of an apron is to protect your clothes and soak up all the cooking mess... so by it's very nature.. IT'S MEANT TO GET DIRTY... and consequently get washed a lot. I worry that this won't last too long, since I cook a lot... and the washer might just destroy this lovely little apron in just a few washings.

I agree with the two other reviewers that this is a cute apron that fits well. Unfortunately it washes terribly. After the first washing the black color faded to a pilled dark gray. On top of that, this thin fabric wrinkled like mad. I had to iron this apron to make it look somewhat normal. Fabric quality just wasn't there.

I have a small apron collection and thought this one was cute, so I bought it. Never have I been so disappointed by an apron in my whole life. I didn't even know an apron could fit this badly. I am a size 6, so when this apron didn't even cover my whole front side, I was shocked. That mannequin it is pictured with must be a size zero, because it does not look like that on me. Not only was the fit terrible, but it felt so cheap! The material was so thin that it could have easily been see-through. Just awful and the fact that I will lose $5 sending it back is rather upsetting.

I am 5'6", 125lb and was anticipating this apron to be a little longer/taller/bigger than it was. I even have a shorter torso, but perhaps larger chest. It looks OK as long as I get the apron to sit on my waist where I want and tie that first, then tie the top part. I would estimate it would fit best on women's size 2 to 4 (I'm usually a 6).

Fabric is very sturdy and thicker/stiffer than I was expecting, which I like. Pockets are useful. The apron itself is beautiful and I am very pleased with it!

Over the years we have gone through several nonstick pans, which seem to wear out quickly and not be able to withstand much heat at all. We very much like the Swiss Diamond Saute Pan, which is nonstick at any setting of the stove we use with it, even high heat. The relatively high sides and 12" diameter make it big enough to cook a large amount at one time, good for leftovers. The glass lid is also very good, with a setting in the knob which allows us to vary the amount of steam escaping. The handle is quite fine and does not get hot in use, something we were initially concerned with for a metal handle.

This pan seems to be as indestructible as a non-stick pan can be. This is my second Swiss Diamond pan, and so far I am impressed. I have only had the other pan for about 6 months and so far so good. Finding non-stick pans that hold up to both high heat and to abrasion has been a hard task. So far I like the Swiss Diamond pans and as long as they continue to hold up I will slowly replace the rest of my pans with them.

I wrote the Swiss Diamond company and asked for an explanation of what the nano-composite material was made of.

After a week or so, I received a polite reply from Allan Wolk, an employee in the U.S. His email informed me that, "Our patented nonstick surface uses a nano-composite of real diamond crystals and PTFE; it is applied using a computer controlled plasma gun at very high temperatures."

Naturally, my attention was immediately drawn to the PTFE. The acronym sounded familiar. What was PTFE?

A quick search of Wikipedia provided the answer: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PTFE)

As Wikipedia explains:

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a fluoropolymer discovered by Roy J. Plunkett (1910-1994) of DuPont in 1938. It was introduced as a commercial product in 1946 and is generally known to the public by DuPont's brand name Teflon®.

Huh? Teflon? Wait a minute. Didn't the Swiss Diamond website just claim that the product contained no Teflon?

If you look back at the Swiss Diamond website screen capture, the careful wording of their answer now becomes clear. It states, "The Swiss Diamond coating does not contain any Teflon taking into consideration that "Teflon" is a trade mark, made and owned by DUPONT."

So the pans don't contain Teflon, they just contain the chemical called Teflon. It's like saying a nuclear warhead doesn't contain any plutonium, it only contains nuclear fissionable material.

For the manufacturer to insist the Swiss Diamond pans contain no Teflon whatsoever when it is made primarily from polytetrafluoroethylene, the chemical widely known as Teflon, is extremely deceptive. In fact, the intent of the Swiss Diamond company seems to be to deceive consumers by omission of the facts. The FAQ document on the Swiss Diamond website, for example, does not bother to say something like, "But our pans do contain PTFE, the chemical known as Teflon." It simply insists they contain no Teflon and moves on to the next question.

It seems that Swiss Diamond goes out of its way to give the impression that this product is free of Teflon chemicals and is surfaced primarily with diamonds. That's the impression I got, anyway, and I read the promotional materials several times before purchasing the pan.

Consumers have been hoodwinked!!!!!!!!!!

Very good. Had it for a few months now. The pan we got had some scratches on the bottom (not on cooking surface) we didn't notice until later. It has a very good nonstick surface and is easy to clean. Absolutely not trouble with anything adhering to it. It comes with a lid that is very high quality as well. You definitely get what you pay for.

So who ever heard of "Creative Home"? That made me hesitate, but after reading critical reviews of the well known brand names, I decided to take a chance on what appeared to be a good item, at least by description and photos. I'm glad I did. This kettle is well made, attractive, intelligently designed and functions perfectly.

The bottom is seamless, eliminating leaks and rusts from that source. The inside is lined to further protect against rusting. The cap is large, well constructed and fits very tightly. The handle is adequately insulated and very "grippy". The spout button is in the handle. Simply squeeze with your index finger and it remains open. Press the top button with your thumb and it snaps closed. No stretching or sliding of your fingers. It is the best and easiest I have ever owned. The size of your hand will not be an issue.

One note: 2 quarts is all you can safely fill it with. I measured it. That fills it to the ideal, just below the spout seam.

After burning out several kettles over the years, I was looking for a good quality whistling model. Although I'd never heard of this brand, it seemed to be just what i was looking for, so i decided to take a chance. I shoud have listened to my instincts. it's an OK kettle, sort of. Water boils in a reasonable time and it pours without dripping. However, the cap that makes the whistling sound is crooked and doesn't fit tightly against the spout, so there's no whistling sound. It's more like a pitiful little whimper, so quiet that you can hear it ony if you're very near the kettle. That ws a big disappointment. Clearly the spout lid is badly made. We tried to bend and wiggle it to make it fit snuggly against the spout, but no success. Overall, the kettle looks cheap (I seriously doubt the claim of "quality stainless steel") and has a darker inside coating that is not smooth and makes the kettle look discolored. The lid is hard to remove for filling. Also, this kettle can't go in the dishwasher. All in all I am totally dissatisfied with this kettle and will have to buy something else. My advice: don't waste your money. It's cheap looking and badly made.

I recently installed a wall-mounted Calphalon pot rack, which I like a lot. Unfortunately, the two hooks I just ordered both fail to work properply with the potrack. One is simply too small to fit onto the rack; the other one fits on but is too large, and comes off when removing pans. Additionally, these hooks are either made from a different material and/or finsihed differently from the ones that shipped with pot rack originally.

Calphalon would be better off charging more money for hooks that actually work than continuing to ship these things. Whatever company Calphalon has contracted to make these things is doing a terrible job.

Dutch Ovens... there are plenty out there to look at and chose from. This particular Make and Model "fills the bill" nicely, so to speak. You can use it for unlimited purposes, the handles will not melt (they have a special rubberized wrapping), the Pot & Glass Top are very well made of Calphalon. Lastly the Pot cleans up easily because of its material, and the product is made in America. Hence this product is a win-win in our household, do not be afraid to purchase this product.

I've made several meals in my Dutch Oven and I've been very pleased. No matter how thick the sauce is, nothing has stuck to the pan. I made a cream of turkey soup last night and when I poured it into a bowl, the pot was nearly clean. It's a medium weight not flimsy and not too heavy to handle. I use it on the top of the stove and in the oven. I would definitely recommend this Dutch Oven.

I adore this braiser and it has been worth *every* penny. I already own the 7+ quart French oven in kiwi but wanted a pan that is a bit smaller depth-wise, yet still has great surface area for cooking on the stove top. I have made all sorts of wonderful meals in the braiser, such as Beef Bourguignon, braised short ribs, various chicken dishes, etc; as you would expect from a Le Creuset enameled cast iron piece, the browning is excellent and easily transfers to the oven for even cooking. Even if you don't plan to braise, the braiser serves as a fantastic skillet. Clean-up is also easy, especially if you scrape up the delicious fond after you've added your cooking liquid. Otherwise, any resistant remnants are easily washed away; anything particularly baked on comes off with a bit of Bar Keeper's Friend.

The cassis color is so beautiful. As mentioned before, I already own a few Le Creuset pieces in kiwi and these colors are lovely together.

Do be sure to inspect your pan when you receive it. Though Le Creuset offers an excellent, lifetime warranty, you want to make sure the pan arrives without defect, if only to save yourself the hassle of having to exchange it down the road. Look at the piece, both inside and out, and ensure that the enamel is perfect. If you're going to spend $100's on a piece, you want it to be perfect and to truly last your lifetime.

I heartily recommend this Le Creuset braiser to anyone who loves to cook and wants a piece that highly functional, beautiful, and will stand the test of time!

Looking for something on the smaller side to replace my tired looking Pyrex and Corning pieces I use for baking a chicken leg or two, I first considered the LeCreuset bakeware. In the long run, I wasn't crazy about the handles and some of the reviews, so I decided that the couple of extra bucks were worth the convenience of stove top to oven should need be. I also bought the SS knob.

I baked two leg quarters (Tex-Mex cheese under the skin) with spinach, beans, and white wine last night and there was more than enough room to spare for two or more pieces. Clean up was a breeze, unlike the Pyrex and Corning, and I'm very pleased with another LeCreuset purchase.

While viewing Sur La Table's online catalogue today I found a 3 quart something sized covered deep saute pan in cassis. I didn't find it listed on Amazon and probably would have purchased it instead of this casserole for two reasons: The pan's cooking surface isn't as large (which is fine when not cooking for a family) and is about $50 less.

I may just pick up one more :) LeCreuset piece!

This is basically a glorified skillet -but how, how glorified! It's about 12" in diameter and not quite 2" deep without the lid, so I wouldn't use it for anything too soupy or saucy -but for risotto or curries or meats in sauce, it's perfect. Like all Le Creuset, it heats up quickly and holds heat brilliantly, so sauces reduce very quickly and smoothly. The cassis color is more subdued than lots of the other Le Creuset color options -sort of a dusty plum -very pretty. I love it!

My only recommendation here, is to avoid using it in case you are a beginner in the kitchen. This knife is built to be used cutting while holding the vegetables / fruits / etc in your hand rather than on a cutting board.

Do yourself a favor, and in case you are not comfortable cutting while holding the subject in your hands, stick to normal knives.

Out of the 30 + Henckels I have this is my favorite knife. I use it everyday, 2 or 3 times a day. I keep reading about other knives being better than Henckel, but I haven't any complaints in my 40 years of using them. The secret with any knife is to run it across the rod several times, each time you use it. IF you do that, they will rarely need sharpening.

My review is written for the Profiserie= "Professional" version of this item -Amazon changed the picture to 'Catering' which is a different line of pots. I have never used or reviewed a 'Catering' line pot, if Amazon changes this entry to the Catering version of the pot. I checked the Sitram website for Profiserie cookware (which is the same as "Professional". The alternate name is chosen only by retailer or distributor, and the equipment is identical.

the picture Amazon shows (at the time of this review update) is for a 'saucier pan'(evasee), Sitram 3.35 qt. Catering saucier pan, (Sitram 20041 in the Profiserie line, not shown in the picture).

I own the next size smaller saucepan in this series, and it is sturdy, heats quickly and evenly, has a very stay-cool tubular handle (using my electric coil range), is happy in the dishwasher, and pours easily without dripping. I wonder if the spot-welded handle will ever come off, but if it does, it has a lifetime guarantee. I have a bunch of other Sitram Profiserie pans that also work well. I hate electric coil cooktops, but these work well on mine. If i get an induction top some day, they will work well on that too (as they do for friends of mine on theirs)

If you don't want to buy copper or copper sandwich disc bottom pots, and don't need nonstick, I think this is as good as you can get in a saucepan from a functional point of view, at least on flat-top heat sources like induction, electric coil, ceramic, or glasstop where flames don't go up the sides. I own original Calphalon, French tinned copper, Anolon non-stick, and Scanpan non-stick, for comparison. None (except the copper) heat quicker or more evenly, and the Sitram is more convenient. If your heat source goes up the sides, then you might get some scorching at the border of the aluminum sandwich bottom and the single layer pot side. America's Test Kitchen downgrades the line for that reason. I haven't seen it happen on my cooktop in several years of use.

The Catering line has a different set of materials in the bottom sandwich, including copper. Not recommended for induction cooking, whereas the Profiserie line is specifically recommended for induction, with a feromagnetic stainless disc as the outer layer below the aluminum core.

I purchased this to use with an induction cooking top and now it is my favorite pan. The bottom distributes the heat so very evenly that I use this pan for fondues. It also works well on other cook tops but if you have a gas range you'll probably want a silicone handle cover so you don't fry your hand on the bare metal. I use a silicone mitt instead which works for me. I prefer metal handles because a lot of dishes spend time roasting in the oven.

I've had one of these for at least seven years, and it's become my most-used pan for everything from sauteed onions to oyster stew. It's been used on electric and gas stoves and now an Aga, it's been hand-washed, dishwashered, dropped and slung around, and it's still going strong. I like it so much, I now have its 5.2 quart big brother and several other Sitram pans as well, and you cannot beat the price!

The pan I received is not from the catering line, it is not a saucier, and the capacity is not 3.35 quarts. I tested it by filling it with water 3 quarts of water fit right up to the rim. Trying to decide whether I should give it to my daughter, or return it. Very disappointed. Bottom line if you want a 2.8 quart saucepan from the Sitram Proffiserie line, this is your pan. If you want a 3.35 quart saucier from the Catering line, look elsewhere. False advertising.

I purchased one of these cookie sheets last November. This is the first cookie sheet that I have owned that is still going strong after a year. It hasn't rusted and it hasn't become discolored!! I use it weekly, and have had the most evenly cooked baked-goods using this cookie sheet. I am going to replace my other cookie sheets with more of these.

I own this cookie sheet that I bought a couple of years ago, when Doughmakers products were made in USA. I liked the cookie sheet a lot, so bought a second one, but I was disappointed with the new one. NO LONGER MADE IN USA! Now made in China by Fox Run. The one I just purchased is a lighter gauge than my original, and it easily flexed in my hands. I felt that this sheet will likely warp in the oven. Because the quality was not as good, and because I am trying to buy US made when possible, I returned this item to Amazon. Too bad that Doughmakers didn't remain a US made product. I still gave this item 3 stars because I feel it's about average. The original would have gotten 5 stars. I now plan to buy either the Vollrath or USA Pans cookie sheet instead. Both have good reviews, and are made in USA. Another good choice would be Nordic Ware, also made in USA, but their largest size is a bit smaller. I'll probably go with the Vollrath because I like aluminum bakeware. Amazon, please list where made so we can choose accordingly!

This is the best!!!! Won't rust or discolor or peel or scratch, etc. I would recommend handwashing because the only thing I have found is that the dishwasher or the detergent is hard on it. If you really like the crisp (not burned) bottom on your cookie you may prefer other darker sheets. Otherwise, for even baking and non sticking and lasting endurance this is the sheet for you.

Speaking as a food/beverage professional, I highly recommend this product to anyone, for a few reasons;

1) The pebble surface makes it practically non-stick, without the downfalls of teflon.

2) The light color means you wont burn or overcook your product as easily (Especially the surface. You've all had the bottom of a cake brown a little too much during the cooking process; this is 9 times out of ten due to a dark contact surface that attracts more heat, just like a black shirt in the Carolina summer.

3) Since it's all aluminum, it cooks perfectly evenly, its a heavy gauge while remaining lightweight, and it costs a literal fraction of what copper, the only better widely used cookware material, will cost you.

Their are some people that may worry about the safety of cooking with an unlined aluminum surface. First and foremost, never dine in a restaurant again. In almost every professional kitchen I've ever worked in, all of the pots and pans are unlined aluminum. Secondly, just dont cook anything acidic in direct contact with it, like roasting tomatoes. The entire doughmaker product line are priceless assets to the serious baker.

My mother bought this on a whim. We fell in love with it and now I, along with my best friend, own one. We bake dozens and dozens of cookies each year during the holidays and won't use any other cookie sheets anymore. When baking so many batches of cookies back to back we occasionally put cookies back in for a minute or so and forget about them. This cookie sheet can handle a few extra minutes without burning the bottoms of your cookies! It cooks them evenly and the cookies slide right off. CLEANING IT IS A BREEZE! Cookies usually have so much butter that you don't need to grease the sheet. In fact I sometimes even wipe or rinse it between batches. Save for a few scratches (which don't affect performance AT ALL) cookie sheet looks as good as the day I bought it and works just as well too! I will NEVER go back to any other kind of cookie sheet!

I spent a good deal of money on what I thought would be the last fry pan I would ever own. It's backed by a lifetime warranty, so how can you loose? Well, let me tell you. The lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects like bubbles and chips. But, there are more ways for the fry pan to fail than are covered by the lifetime warranty.

I've owned this for about a year. I've never used metal utensils, never put it into the dishwasher, and never cleaned it with steel wool. Over the time I've owned it, the pan developed a sheen to it. Without warning, one day the pan just stopped being non-stick. Now everything sticks, even with liberal amounts of butter or oil. I wrote to Scanpan to ask them about their lifetime warranty. They sent me two pages of photographs of situations which aren't covered. What seems like normal use to me might look like over-heating to them, which voids the warranty.

The problem is Scanpan puts a large metal disc on the bottom, which appears to be designed to provide even heating. What it does in practice is a) requires a long time to heat up and b) burns the corners since this is a square pan with a heavy round disc.

So, I'm buying another brand today, much cheaper. Why spend a fortune on a pan which only lasts a year when a cheaper pan will do the same job at a fraction of the price? I cannot recommend Scanpan products.

edit: I just received the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 11-Inch Square Griddle, purchased here from Amazon and I'm much happier. It takes a lot less time to heat up, looks better, and has a better non-stick finish than this more expensive one. It doesn't have the heavy metal disc on the bottom so I don't have to wait as long for it to warm up and the corners are in less of a danger of being burnt. Save your money. Don't buy from a company who will not honor their so-called lifetime warranty. I didn't get any more use out of this pan than far less expensive models. Use the money you save to buy yourself a nice steak.

The pan does everything we wanted and cleaning is a snap. We checked out every pan there is this size and this is the best. Great for Pancakes, bacon, eggs, grilled cheese sandwiches, and burgers. Never burns or smokes like teflon pans and surface doesn't peel.

As you can tell we love it.

Scanpan cooKware is undoubtably the absolute best in every way. NOTHING ON THE MARKET CAN EQUAL IT. And the dealer with which we dealt came through in fine style. I use it for a great number of jobs (steaks, chops, eggs, etc., etc., etc.) rather than a skillet. And it cleans up like a dream---no problem at all (quick and easy).

Yes, the griddle is wonderful for pancakes. The problem I have is that the surface material bubbled up over the very center of the griddle. It is cracking and I see that eventually the material will flake off.
