Hard to imagine spending this kind of coin for pans, but here we go. I'd gotten a 2qt saucepan to try out and it's so good that I'm back for the whole set. This is the non-stickiest non-stick ever, just a real pleasure to cook with and then clean up. The 2qt is now three years old and the interior finish looks like new. The outside underneath has a little discoloration but our stove is gas so I can't complain -pans are for cooking, not admiring.

After getting my new Electrolux induction stove I have tried and returned Elo, Calphalon, Cuisinart. In all cases the model set I chose was the most top of that lines "Induction Ready" offerings. In every case the stainless steel must have been paper thin because it took between three and four full minutes to boil my "Standard" two cups of cold water. That is actually longer than my previous Jenn Air stove took so they were all returned.

When these CTX Pans arrived the first thing I did was run the two cup boil test. I was astonished to see a full rolling boil in one minute flat. Then I cooked something saucy. Within four minutes on the five setting the pan was showing little simmer bubbles spread so evenly over the entire pan.

I have now used these pans for a week. They are every bit as incredible as my new induction stove. My only disappointment is that the two saucepans are only 3/4 quart apart. One should be much smaller and the other much larger IMO.

These pans are awesome! I got a Scanpan saute pan for Christmas and was so impressed I bought the whole set. They are expensive but in my opinion worth every penny. The pans truly are non-stick and they really work great. The surface won't scrape off like other non-stick pans because it's a solid thick lining. The stainless surface on the outside is easy to keep clean with a stainless steel scrub pad. The set comes with plenty of lids and I like that you can see through the glass. The two sauce pans are good sized and nice and deep. Overall, I could not be more happy with this purchase.

Honest reviews on Scanpan CTX Cookware Sets

I purchased a set of these pans about 2 years ago. My husband can't even screw them up!! I've had at least 6 different brands of pans, some quite pricey. None compare (even remotely) to these. I have to admit that they were set aside until my older pans died. Now that I've used them for a while, I wish I had just given my older pans away. I'm in the process of purchasing more of these pans. To the writer that said the pans stained yellow: did you try Soft Scrub? Soft scrub cleans up my stainless stove beautifully, as well as my sink.

The CTX is one of the latest series of Scanpan products which have always been top quality. Though expensive in comparison to other similar products these are outstanding. The non-scratch non-stick coating makes them the absolute best paarticularly for the new induction stove top that we bought, we tried others , but they had issues of pitting, sticking and handle heat etc. So, my advice is to get over the sticker shock because they are worth every penny! I have since bought other CTX pans to add to this set. They will of course work on any stove top, not just the induction system which we now wish we had purchased years ago.

Very pretty, love corelle products, making tea today and the plastic on the spout melted then caught fire . Started to melt the handle. i purchased this because of the whistle, i saw flames them smelled plastic burning. Not happy, brand names are usually made with quality.

The good: nice size, pretty pattern, the spout cap and handle stay cool, appears to be of good quality (although I've only had it a week ... time will tell). Nice loud whistle, although I would call it more of a horn! It's a two-tone clarinet sound that will alert you to its readiness if you are anywhere within 100 feet! I even heard it over my vacuum ^.^

The bad: the pink has a sort of peachy tinge to it so if you're looking for a true pink (or dusty rose) ... you won't get it with this pattern. It's just a little off. Incredibly, this lists as a 2 1/2 quart tea kettle but there's this tiny "Fill Line" label just under the spout. It's hard to measure accurately since the kettle isn't transparent, but my guesstimate is that if you only fill to the "Fill Line," you're limited to slightly less than one quart. I put in 28 ounces before figuring I hit the "Fill Line" limit. For me, that's not a problem but if you're truly looking for 64+ ounce capacity ... look elsewhere. Some might consider the aforementioned "horn" a bad thing since it's so loud and not a "whistle" so I'll list it here as well. I prefer to hear it rather than not hear it but that's just me.

The worst for me is the dribble factor. I detest dribbling tea kettles and this one is pretty bad. I fill my mug over the sink.

UPDATE 7/4/13: Well, I bought it and despite the drawbacks mentioned above, kept it. Now, one+ year later, I can truly say it's not worth it. The enamel chips off the bottom and the whistle stopped working. 1 star for being pretty.

I bought this as a gift and it was well received. It is cute and has a good finish on it. I had one similar to it but of a different pattern and it lasted years ~ until I ruined it by boiling it dry. Don't try this at homeit did no favor to my flattop stove either! :( The teapot is greatjust watch out for "operator error"! :) That's what the whistle is for!

Honest reviews on Corelle Coordinates 2-1/5-Quart Whistling Teakettle, Pretty Pink

I bought this to complement my dishes. I like it a lot. Adds beauty to my kitchen. The whistle sounds like a train and whenever the kids hear it,

they would both say "choo, choo the train has arrived. "

Just need to be careful when opening the pout to pour, it can get so hot.

I would recommend to use a pot holder when opening it.

I really like these tools, and the 6-piece set is a good deal if you need or want all six of the items. The can opener is surprising good, the first time I've considered a can opener to be anything other than a "it works" sort of item. The masher, grater, and scoop are all nice and solid. The pizza cutter is alright, perhaps a little lighter weight than it could be. And the peeler works well, but isn't an item I use that often.

This set was a gift for my older brother who was looking for a new utensil set. Has not been tried and tested as of yet. But everything was as shown/explained. Arrived ontime. And kept up to date. Very good.

Very handy items that have always ended up being different brands, different materials and different looks, I purchased this set for my own house-warming present. I wanted to try a pan with ceramic coating so selected this one because it was a good size and was on sale. I love this pan. It is perfect. Food doesn't stick and it washes very easily. I would recommend this pan to others.

The non-stick coating seems much less likely to become damaged in normal use than is the case with standard 'Teflon' non-stick pans . The ceramic non-stick is very effective and the pan always cleans easily. The metal base to the handle becomes very hot in use but, other than that, this pan is perfect.

I have used this skillet daily for about 3 weeks and I have followed use and care instructions carefully. It worked beautifully at first, but it has gotten gradually less non-stick so that now I have a skillet that sticks and reqires just as much oil as any other for cooking. Big disappointment and a waster of money.

I got this to compliment the 5 piece Scala set and it's amazing cookware. See my review on the 5-piece Scala set for more info.

Purchased this one, and after a month of good use with no apparent problems bought a set. 4 months later junk. simple scrumbled eggs turn into cooking nightmare as it sticks all over the surface and if you think it's easy to clean...do not kid yourself, soaked in water for hours, even overnight ...couldn't even scrub it off. Oh, and for those who thinks I do not know I do know how to take care of them, maintain them, clean all according to the book ( after all, when you spend that much, you should take a good care of it). Too bad I didn't take a pic or video. Their support was ridiculous as the say they are not responsible for the food sticking to it.

I'm gonna turn 3-4 eggs into garbage, but I'll do it again, make a video and will put it on youtube for everyone to see. But that'll be the last, as I will not spend my valuable time anymore trying to clean this garbage.

Going to try SanPan next. and if that will not deliver, will go back to old school iron.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program OK, I am a bachelor, I live alone with the cat. OTOH, I am actually a fair hand in the kitchen. However, my pots and pans are a collection of thriftshop bargains and hand-me-downs, no two of which match, and several of which aren't in very good shape.

So, when I had a chance to get this cool new cookware set from the famed KitchenAid folks, I jumped on it.

And, I am glad I did. This is a pretty "cool" set (and "cool" has a double-meaning here). Each piece is well crafted and solid. No thin cheapo stuff here.

You get two saucepans, a stockpot and a sauté panall with good solid glass covers with the neatest silicon rubber seals I have seen. And, two fry pans.

The glass covers allow you to watch your food, while sealing in the heat and steam when needed. They also don't rattle.

They also come with a silicon rubber pad under the heavy handle. This means that a heavy pot doesn't cut into your hand when lifting, it decreases fatigue. It also protected my hand from getting burnt when I forgot the potholderNICE! That's the other "cool" part.

(Still, one should always use hand protection anyway. "Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.").

They also clean up just fine, just about as well as "non-stick". Just a spritz of oil spray and they were spotless with little effort. I even "torture tested" one, leaving stuff overnite and it still cleaned up spotless.

Now, in this paean of praise, I do want to say one thingI still like my old inherited cast iron frypan (It's older than I am!). I think it does a better job even than these stainless steel & aluminum marvels for certain fry jobs, like steaks (And I do like a good steak!). But of course, seasoning and maintaining good cast iron is a long term process, and not for everyone. However, for me, for this set, I would have preferred one more saucepan and one less frypan.

Gorgeous set, perfect for as a giftwedding, housewarming or that bachelor you may know.

I have dropped off all my old stuff to the Salvation Army folks.... except my cast iron, of course!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We were really excited to get this set.

Unpacking them, we thought these will be great to use:

The handles are sturdy and easy to grip

The handles have hard-rubber like material underneath that make them easy to grab and not so hot

The steel is brilliant and the finishing fantastic

The thickness of the metal makes them feel high class and very sturdy

The problem...

We were cooking some vegetables and put the lid on the skillet. Not an uncommon thing to do, but when we checked the pot, the lid was stuck!

It wasn't that easy to work with when the pan was so hot, so we let it cool thinking that the pan and the lid would come unstuck. Nope.

Big problem, we were going out of town the next day. So not only did we not have the food we cooked, we had to put the pan in the fridge to try to work on it when we got back from our trip.

This was not a good way to get going with the set.

Even when the pan was completely cooled, we couldn't get the lid off. We tried running it under cold water, hot water, we were pulling very hard to try to get the lid off, and no go.

Finally after getting back from our trip, we were able to fit the edge of a spoon between the rubber part of the lid and the pan and pry the lid off.

Whew. We'd be careful to not let that happen again...right?

Well, it happened again with one of the pots and the lid. The lid got stuck and wouldn't come off and we were trying to watch for to prevent it from happening!

The trick to getting the pans and lids unstuck, in case it happens to you, is to get the edge of a sturdy spoon, and to place it at the rubber part of the lid just over the handle of the pot, then you can use the pot's handle for leverage to pop the top off.

It wouldn't be such a big deal, but these are very nice cookware pieces. You'd think that this sort of thing would have been tested for.

So if lids suctioned to their pans is something you don't mind, go for. If not, get ready to pump some iron, er, steel.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I couldn't be more pleased with this cook set. As I continue to use it I will update this review. There are a couple other sets out there that are close competition so I wanted to be clear on what makes this set different for me. I'm a single guy who doesn't always cook daily, but is not afraid to tackle "advanced" cooking techniques and real homemade from scratch food when I get the urge. I want to give a complete review so you understand what kind of cooking I do and how I use the cookware to best understand if it may fit your needs.

My background with cookware:

I'm normally a Farberware and T-Fal user, not the cheapest, not the most expensive and I've been eyeing upgrading my essential cookware for some time. Specifically-as my cooking skills advance I could use pans that can also go in the oven-which my current T Fal and Farberware cannot. Doing dicing in the pan is a no-go on the nonstick surfaces (I've ruined some, knowing I shouldn't do it, but needing to), so the French skillets in stainless in this kit was very welcomed.

What you get:

The description is accurate on "what & how many", but I wanted to outline the experience. From opening the box I was struck by the beauty of this cookware-very visually appealing, and could easily be displayed in your kitchen. If you have no option than to hang pans, these look really really nice. It's all very thick and durable, but at the same time does not feel too heavy at all. The weight seems just right, and well balanced from side to side. Even from sight, a pan on pan comparison left me ready to donate my old cookware for this set. Of course I didn't, and will continue to use th new set to see how well I like it.

The aluminum disc in the bottom of the pans is really a step up from what I'm used to (I attached a picture)-quite thick, and does do a great job of even heating. The handles and lids have silicone rubber seals and grips, which not only looks but feels premium and keeps the lid from "rattling" during heavy boils. Looking back, the T-Fal and Farberware were quite basic with hard plastic handles and lid handles that couldn't go in the oven. I guess you don't know what you're missing until you've experienced better!

The handles are extremely comfortable to use (picture attached), and I hadn't realized how this would make a difference over what I am using currently. The curve evenly distributes the weight of the pan across the whole palm of your hand as you grip it, as opposed to my current T-Fal which puts most of the weight at one end of your hand due to the straight through construction. With a straight handle you pick your shoulder up in the air so your hand accommodates the handle, instead of the handle accommodating to you. Very appreciated and easily overlooked feature.

The sauce pan and stock pan are wide topped to make it easy for in-pan whisking, as well as quicker reductions. I believe the kit calls this "windsor shape" which I wasn't familiar with.

Cleanup has been great so far, and as a kit you can fit every piece in a standard sized dishwasher in one washing (picture attached). I always say the real test of a pan is how well it cleans up when something gets a bit burnt on, or potatoes fog up the bottom of a stock pot. Neither has happened to me yet, so I'll have to report back in after that happens.

Comparison to other close matched 10 piece kits Amazon sells:

The Cuisinart 77 kit is 10 piece also, and can go 150 degrees higher in the oven, but does not have silicone grips or lid seals and windsor leans.

The Farberware Classic set is similar 10 piece, and is essentially what I own. The non stick pans scrape easily, handles are hard and can only oven to 350 degrees. Pans are thinner and lids rattle.

The Cuisinart Chef kit is well rated, but doesn't have premium handles, as deep of a frying pan, or rattle free lids.

The Rachel Ray kit is really nice, but hand washing is recommended. Major bummer in my book.

Warranty & Value:

The warranty with this kit is similar to others-to your door replacement first year, and send in for a similar replacement for life. A normal expectation with premium cookware. An interesting bit of research I did-the instruction and warranty envelope said "Thank you for purchasing Meyer Gourmet Cookware". Meyer Manufacturing makes Anolon brand cookware, which, if you compare, would yield this to be the best value Anolon cookware set available!

In summary, I've been pleased with the set and some premium features it includes over my existing collection of cookware. It looks nice, cooks well and cleans up well. It would make a great kit for the aspiring cook, for your first set of cookware if the price is ok for you, as a gift, or for someone who really needs to replace several items in your cookware collection. Of course if you're a professional chef, you'll probably prefer to build your cookware set piece by piece, but if you're in the market for a really nice set, I couldn't recommend any other options more than this one.

*I've attached several photos that have additional comments beyond the review.

Update 1: After some use, two new discoveries: The large stock pot and the skillets use the same size lids, so that's one less "trial" you have to do when reaching for one plus a lid. On the downside, the "tops" of the metal handles don't stay as cool as I want, and actually can get pretty hot. The normal grip of a lid is around the handle, so you have to learn to lift with the flat part of your hand and not grip around it. I disliked this feature enough that I docked it a star, down to 4 stars.

Update 2: Some more weeks in, I've had some food stick and it washed right away... no stains, no problems. Still just as pleased as I was originally. After update 1 above, I've mad just a tiny adjustment to how I grab the lids, and it's proven no problem again at all. I've left the review at 4 stars instead of 5 because I'd suggest a design modification for the handle style but other than that I'm still far more pleased with this kit than the Farberware stuff I had before.

Honest reviews on KitchenAid Gourmet Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM) Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This KitchenAid Gourmet Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set is a good solid product and a good value for what you get. Over the past year I have evaluated a lot of cookware and used pots and pans from 3 new cookware sets. Good cookware is a big investment. While this set is reasonable, it will be worth it for some people to invest a little more on an alternative.

PROS:

++ Good value for a stainless steel set

++ Variety of pots allow you to prepare many types of meals

++ Glass lids allow you to monitor your food without slowing down the cooking

++ Handle grips are cushioned to add some comfort when moving skillets or pots

++ Skillets have high walls for splatter or for turning omelets

++ Riveted handles provide greater strength and durability than the screws used in many entry level sets

++ Saucepans are functional

++ Awesome oversized stock pot is great for stews and soups

++ Non-stick surface heats up quickly and cleans easily, though clad performs better

++ Warrantee allows for free replacement within the first year

++ After the first year, you have to send in the cookware at your own expense if it fails

CONS:

-Does not specify the grade of stainless steel, which means it's likely not 18/10

-Thick aluminum core bases add a lot of weight

-For a little more, an entry level clad set offers much more in terms of quality and features

-Alternatives have metal lids instead of silicone ringed glass (could be a positive if you like this feature)

-Skillets are on the smaller side, limiting functionality

-While functional, saucepans are on the smaller side as well

-Pan walls are on the thin side

-Touted as "dishwasher safe," but the fine-print states dishwasher use voids the warrantee

-Many other warrantee limitations, so read carefully before first use

-Also touted as "oven-safe" though I advise against this (low heat rating, handle grips, etc.)

PERFORMANCE VS PRODUCT CLAIMS

Only a quick clean-up was required before the initial use. I found that cleaning up the pots and pans took longer after each use than my clad cookware. But the pans all heated up evenly, if a little slowly. One other note about this product is that despite the product description, plan to clean every piece by hand if you don't want to void your warrantee. While the set is technically "dishwasher safe," the fine-print on the included pamphlet states in no uncertain terms that they are not responsible for damage caused by dishwashers.

The skillets worked well, though the 8.5 inch skillet is a little small for my use. Even the 10 inch is about the smallest I would ideally use. An ideal set would include one 10 inch skillet and one 12 inch. The 8 inch is good for preparing single portions at a time, and is certainly good enough for omelets or small portions of pan seared meats. But I try to make as many meals using single pans, which is why I would tend towards larger skillets. Just one note: the product description includes the claim that these are perfect for making crepes. If anybody has the skill to make a decent crepe in a skillet, I bow down to you.

The large stock pot is really the nicest pot in this set. It's normal for sets to include slightly smaller stock pots, and the added size means this will be immediately useful as an addition to my many different pots. It's not oversized, but this is a great size for stews and soups.

THE ALTERNATIVES

This set is aluminum core cookware, which is why there are thick disks at the base of each piece. That helps them to heat evenly, but it also adds a lot of weight.

There are many advantages to a fully clad set such as the Cuisinart MCP-12 MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set I've been using over the past 6 months. Clad cookware heats up much quicker, has a higher temperature threshold, and is lighter to use. It's also a little bit easier to clean, though that distinction only shows up over long term use. The Cuisinart 77-10 Chef's Classic Stainless-Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set or Cuisinart 77-17 Chef's Classic Stainless 17-Piece Cookware Set are also worth consideration, though I don't own that version.

Also, there is bound to be some concern about leaching from the silicone rings on the glass tops. I am not super concerned about that, as this material has come a long way. There is tons of silicone bake-ware that has to withstand much higher temperatures than this set. Still, Kitchen Aid has a number of similar sets that have metal rimmed glass or stainless steel lids. The KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set, KitchenAid 75826 Gourmet Essentials 10-Piece Brushed Stainless Steel Cookware Set and KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set all deserve consideration. I would definitely review them if that is an issue for you.

CONCLUSION

If you are looking for a gift for a housewarming or a young graduate getting their first apartment, this has to be high on the list of sets to be considered. But if you are looking for yourself and this is your first foray into stainless steel cookware, you may want to evaluate your options. Paying a little more now can help you avoid having to buy another set in the future. The Cuisinart Multiclad Pro is my favorite.

Happy shopping.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for KitchenAid Gourmet Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set

I didn't buy this set on amazon. As others have noted, the lids can stick due to the formation of a vacuum. A reviewer even had a lid shatter, but another counters that it only happens if a pot lid is used on a frying pan. NOT SO! If cooking pasta in any of the pans with a lid, the water can foam up. To avoid a boil-over, I took the pan off the stove and it instantly cooled forming a vacuum preventing the lid from being removed! I pryed the lid off with a screwdriver and placed the lid on the counter and instantly the lid is vacuum-locked onto the counter! Yikes! Not only is this super annoying, it can be dangerous. The distracted cook could pull hard causing a spill of hot liquid.

Update Partial Solution:

I love the set otherwise and would give it 5 stars, but this is a major issue. Kitchen-Aid could have a steam hole in the lid as does T-Fal. If you are handy, there is a homemade solution to modify the rubber lid edge. The rubber is easily cut with a razor, but this will leave an ugly cut mark. Instead, take a wood dowel and wrap with 150 grit sandpaper.

1. Prevent lid from sticking to the counter. Observe where the lid contacts the counter top. Abrade a small section removing about 1/16 inch. Check by placing the lid on the counter to see if there is now a small opening to allow air in. The result is invisible.

2. Prevent the lid from sticking to the pan. Observe where the lid touches the pan edge. Using the sandpaper abrade a small depression in the rubber at that point. This a little more awkward, but can be done with patience. The result is almost invisible.

3. Although the same process can be used to prevent the lids from sticking to the frying pans, a larger cut is necessary which will be easily visible. Or just remember to not use the lids there.

This beer roaster is amazing. We have a $100 rotisserie that we rarely used because it takes up a lot of counter space and it's too hard to clean. This simple device has replaced that clunky inconvenient machine. Now we're cooking a big chicken dinner every weekend.

The first time we used the Beer Roaster, we tried a bland Miller Genuine Draft beer. The chicken came out moist, but flavorless. After some trial and error, we found a perfect recipe.

We pick a beer with lots of flavor. Our current preference is a dark Sam Adams brew like Black Lager or Brown Ale. We then add in a big spoonful of honey. Make sure you rinse off the chicken and pat it dry inside and out with paper towels. We then apply a dry rub to the outside of the chicken (any good rub you pick-up at the grocery store should be fine). A 6-pound chicken cooks for about 2 hours at 375 degrees. Once it's done cooking, let it sit for about 10 minutes so the juices can settle down.

Everyone raves about the flavor. There's never any leftovers. It's so much better than those lousy pre-cooked chickens at the grocery. The Beer Roaster is the best kitchen gadget we've ever bought.

No more wrestling a hot chicken off of an equally hot beer can! The 18/10 stainless steel construction is sturdy, and the tube is just the right size which makes taking the chicken off a breeze. The beer roaster is a one piece unit with a base that provides ample support for the bird to rest on.

I am not knocking the beer can method, but this roaster is even better. The roaster comes with a few sample recipes if you want to put something other than beer in the base. The possibilities are endless.

Original Review follows (Updated review follows orig...)

I filled with water after removing the item from the packaging.

I wiped the base dry with a paper towel.

Within one minute, I probably had a Tablespoon of water that had leaked onto the base plate.

I filled out online the form for a replacement and Amazon is ready to send a new one out (no charge) I also printed out a label for return shipping that Amazon created.

I have 30 days for them to receive the defective item before being charged for the second or replacement item.

I will follow up when received on the condition of the second roaster.

I have cooked beer can chicken before and yes it is moist and tasty.

I knew the size of the item, but was still shocked to see the size of it...appeared small. But could be a good thing if you were trying to cook two chickens at the same time.

The diameter of the 'can' is smaller than that of a can of soda...thus it will be easier to insert into the chicken.

//

Update two days later:

Received the second or replacement item in two days from Amazon.

It worked just fine until I tried to clean it. I placed a dish rag loosely into the can to clean...holding onto the square base and turning on the disk rag, I felt a snap. Part of the bottom of the can separated from the plate. Does NOT leak though. I sent it back also.

It turns out the item is made of three pieces.

The cylinder (can) is made of stainless steel.

The bottom of the can has a steel plug (not stainless...magnetic) connected somehow to the cylinder. I suspect either glued or jammed into the bottom. I DO NOT KNOW. But I see no spot welding marks.

Then the plug is spot welded to the base which also is NOT stainless steel (again magnetic material like steel).

One final note. With the chicken resting on top of the can, the top of the can is near the top of the neck. So I am not sure how much moisture and flavor stays inside the chicken.

I will stick with my Fox Run brand.

I have on order two stainless cups or tumblers that I will see how they work within the Fox Run wire cage.

This was the largest pizza pan i could find for the least price and it worked perfectly. I like to make homemade pizza's with all the trimmings, including stuffed crust and i like to make them big. This was the pan i was needing. Big enough for me to make a extra large pizza and have enough pizza for all. The pizza slices came out easily and the pizza was cooked evenly as well.

I am using it for the past 6 months and it is working excellent without any complaints. Material is very strong. I will buy again if i needed one in the future.

After 1 yr, it is still going strong. It was definitely built to last. I am buying 1 more today.

It was the largest pizza pan I could find. It's not the best quality. It doesn't lay flat after the first time we used it, but then again it was only $10. We just use it for the extra large 'take & bake' pizzas from the grocery story. I have other more expensive pizza pans for our homemade pizzas.

Terrible

this is a round flat pan which turned out to be too large for our oven, too big to return. lost money!

Great tray. The tray is a full 18" across, so MEASURE YOUR OVEN BEFORE YOU BUY! I didn't measure my oven, but fortunately, it turns out the inside of my oven is about 18-1/4" deep and 18-1/2" wide. It just fits!

Glad to have this. We'd been using a steel tray atop a stone pizza stone. We used to pre-heat the oven for a long time so that the stone would reach 425F, so that the bottom crust would fully cook in our old steel pizza pan. With this new pizza tray, we can get rid of the stone, and pop the pizza into the oven while it is coming up to temperature. The bottom crust is always fully cooked. This tray conducts heat well.

Very pleased with the trays (we bought 2), and after 2 months of using them (including with a roller pizza cutter), it appears that they'll last a long time.

Only tip I would pass along to future buyers....measure your oven before you buy!

I had been searching for the ideal vessel to hold kosher salt on my kitchen counter, and this petite casserole is sturdy enough to do the trick. I was disappointed that this item isn't made in France like other Le Creuset products -it's from southeast Asia -but it still captures the essential Le Creuset style and adds some welcome color against my dark granite countertops.

I ordered this item with some trepidation as it was not well reviewed. My sense was the reviews were the result of initial color mis-shipments and it turns out that I received the blue item I ordered.

To be sure, it is barely larger than an ashtray but the design and color perfectly match other Le Creuset pieces. It would be good for custards or condiments or servings of fruit, vegatables, custard or pudding (yes, I know this is not conventional). Basically it is well priced for a quality product. It show both utility and decor. And earns its five stars.

I love Le Creuset cookware and when I discovered these little 8 ounce pots, I knew they would fill many uses. These petite stoneware covered pots are oven-proof, so you can bake individual dishes in them such as custards, pies and tarts, rice and pasta dishes. I also serve soups in them hot or cold. The lid helps retain the temperature of the contents. I also serve cheese spreads, hummus, and many other condiments or sauces in these little pots. You can create a tray of appetizers, snacks, and hors d'ouvres, using one or several different colored pots on a tray amid crackers and bread or whatever you choose. I have all the colors Le Creuset makes. On the Fourth of July I prepared a simple "red, white, and blue" presentation of dips and salsas. Whether you serve a group of food items or individual servings, the size is right. You will love these versatile little containers.

Honest reviews on Le Creuset Stoneware Petite Casserole

As an admitted Le Creuset devotee, this was a little splurge to store sea salt in while keeping it covered next to the stovetop. However, since receiving this charming little casserole, I can see the potential for all sorts of culinary uses for it as it is basically a very large ramekin with handles and a lid. I plan on ordering the 4-piece-set with cookbook as they are the perfect size to serve individual portions of oven-prepared dishes such as au gratin potatoes, apple/cherry crumble or french onion soup(at 8 ounce capacity, I would call this size a "cup" rather than a "bowl" of soup). It's also a great size for serving oatmeal in the morning for the kids! (Note that this is stoneware and not the cast iron version, so it is for oven use only and not for stovetop). Overall, a great little investment for a quality product with so many uses, especially if you like to serve smaller individual dishes at times. A nice addition to your Le Creuset collection!

There have been many good suggestions for using this adorable little pan, but I use mine daily to cook my steel-cut oatmeal. I can cook and eat out of the same pan, and if I am called away from my meal for any time, I cover it up with the lid to retain the heat. All of my cookware is Le Creuset, so obviously I'm a big fan of the brand. This little piece is so cute and so helpful for many things. Just love it.

I have to disagree with almost everyone reviewing this one. The balance is a bit "tippy" but Not overbalanced when EMPTY because of the small bottom area contacting the burner. This same quality allows the the pan to heat quickly on very low heat and it heats evenly and cooks beautifully. It also pours without dripping and works well as a small chef's pan. I use it to reduce, saute, and even stir-fry in small amounts. The lid from the I.5 qt. saucepan fits exactly.

This ability to interchange covers is a benefit many Cuisinart Chef's Classic pieces share. Regarding handle proportion; Cuisinart Chef's Classic handles are individually sized to match and balance proportionately the individual pans better than ANY brand I have seen. This includes the vaunted and, in my opinion, highly overated / overpriced All-Clad which I do own!

I usually cook for one and in smaller proportions so this pan is a perfect size. It is difficult to find good cookware in smaller sizes.

Also, some points about this and all stainless cookware and the numerous complaints about sticking, burning and problematic cleaning I read on Amazon; Turn down the heat ( You don't need it! ), throw away that worthless and totally inappropriate steel wool and use Barkeeper's Friend or Bon Ami just like the instructions and all those smart folks keep telling Us.

Lastly...How can Anyone rate a product and denigrate the design of same when they do not own it and have not used it and conversly, how can anyone find such a review helpful ?

When empty it's difficult to get this pot to stand up to pour in what ever it is we want to heat. If we are lucky, what ever we've managed to get into the pot doesn't tip over and pour out while cooking. And don't even think of half way emptying the thing or you will definitely spill hot liquid all over the place. How did this thing pass safety standards. It was definitely a waste of our money.

In addition to the "tippiness" observed by the other reviewer, part of which is just a side effect of the otherwise-desirable saucier shape, the problem with this pan is that the aluminum disk is simply too small to make this a good pan for sauces, particularly if you are cooking with gas. No matter how small your flame, you get hot spots on the thin lower walls of the pan. Had I thought more about the design before purchasing I would definitely have bought the anodized aluminum version.

It is an attractive pan and pours well, so my initial thought after discovering the poor cooking performance was to use it on the table for serving gravies and sauces. Unfortunately, the tippiness makes that kind of an unwise idea.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart 735-16OP Chef's Classic Stainless 1-Quart Pour Saucier

I have three other Cuisinart pans and they are all 5 stars. This one is "tippy." The handle is too heavy in relation to the pan. Potentially dangerous, definitely annoying. Cooks great due to aluminum bottom, but use caution.

After 9 months, I rarely use this pan.

1 star is all i wold give it now.

After 6 years, I NEVER use this pan. It would be gone from my kitchen it it took up more space, and may go in the next round of sending things off to various re-use places at the recycle center, charity garage sales, charity thrift stores. Still one star.

A one star review is a rare one for me to give because they often very personal or about some dumb thing that could have been easily corrected with an exchange or refund. But this is a one star item. The pan tips over and hot stuff spills out. That is bad.

I should have heeded the reviews on this pan. I really don't like it. It is tippy, and there should be a pour spout on both sides. Would not recommend.

I purchased and used this recently for the first time, and I really like the product. It does an excellent job at steaming small to medium size ears of corn. It does it by really locking in the steam tightly. No water needed and the corn isn't watery, as it sometimes can be when cooked in a kettle on the stove.

I didn't have large ears of corn, so I didn't have a problem with that, though I can see where that might be an issue. A slightly larger version of this would be good and take care of that problem.

No instructions were given on the packaging as to cooking time, but I found in my microwave that six minutes was right. Since microwaves vary, you have to experiment there. This could be used to cook/reheat other things, too. I really like the results I got and recommend the product.

Great item for the summer corn season, and so easy to use. One ear takes about 4-5 minutes, two take about 7-10 minutes. You put 1/4 cup of water in each chamber, and it steams perfectly.

The lid does NOT snap on, as some expect, but fits on the top of the chamber. The corn will be hot, and perfectly cooked. Kind of fun to have this at the office toovery handy.

Of course, you could steam anything in this, but it is designed for corn. As for size, it has worked well so far. If one were to have extra large ears of corn, I think it would still work, though you might adjust the cooking time up a bit. Best for medium-large ears, I think.

Perfect for singles, college age, and seniors who wants to fool with a pot, boiling water, salt, draining and clean-up, when THIS is an option?

One of the best.

This is a great product and I have two and will be ordering more for envious friends. Boiling water to cook that fresh corn on the cob is time consuming and water wasteful and this corn steamer is so easy. Add the fresh corn on the cob a little water steam in the microware for a couple of minutes and there you have it. EASY, FAST and GOOD can't get any better than that.

Honest reviews on Progressive International Microwavable Quick Cobs Corn Steamer

It works very well steaming most, but not all, ears of corn in the microwave. I have tried it on both fresh and frozen ears. It is dishwasher safe which is nice.

My only complaint is the size. If you have a fat ear of corn you cannot close the lid all the way. Because there is a gap between the lid and the bottom, all of the steam escapes. You are not really steaming the corn, but just microwave cooking it. As such, you might as well just cook the ear a flat plate or bowl. I'd guess that about a third of the ears I have used in this have been too big. It holds long ears, but not ones that are fat (diameter). If they just made this about a half inch deeper and wider, it would be perfect.

Occasionally you will get corn that won't fit in here because it is too large, but this unit is very handy and does a very good job of steaming corn.

Great set, one of my best buys. Has been a year now and this set still looks brand new. Has improved my cooking tremendously. Easiest set to wash, as everything wipes right off and I have never had to scrub. This set is completely nonstick and worth more than what they're selling it for. I have not needed to buy additional pots or pans at all. I use these regularly about once or twice a week at least.

Pros: In many ways, I've never had such nice pots and pans -they will no doubt be passed down for the next few generations. My husband and I decided to purchase them for a new induction stove. [Many pieces of our cookware were anodized aluminum, or were stainless with aluminum clad bottoms which didn't work with induction range.] I did have a few pots to which magnets did stick when tested, but evidently, the iron content of the stainless was insufficient because they still would not work with the range. [I had planned to take a magnet with me to a housewares store in order to test the pots before buying, but after my magnet experience on a few on my own pots, I just decided to buy pans which stated 'induction ready'.] These are very attractive, work incredibly well with the induction range, food cooks beautifully in them, and they clean up quickly and easily.

Cons: They are a bit heavier than my other pots. In and of itself, that is not a problem. However, there are some design flaws which shouldn't exist. Because of the weight of even the smaller pots, they should have a helper handle (and I'm not a weakling). Also due to their weight, the handles themselves should be more substantial. They have a nice arch, but because the handle is thin relative to the weight of the pot, they slide around in the hand and compromise control. At this price, all kinks should be worked out of the design.
