I bought these as a gift for my husband. He loves them. I bought them because of great reviews on the internet and they were scratch resistant. My husband is a great cook but he's always very hard on pans...scratches, dents, handles falling off. I am happy to say that 2 months later they still have no scratches. Easy to clean and very nice looking.

At first they were nice, but as time went by, each use they became more and more sticky. Eggs have become impossible to cook unless you put tons of butter in the pan... meats stick more and more each time, creating a sticky black gunk. Sorry, I thought they were nice at first, but the continued use of them has proved differently.

Now I'm back to looking for the perfect pan that doesn't emmit toxic fumes.

I'm past the returning window, so now I have to pay for shipping and only get a partial refund... oh well. You win some, you lose some. This would be my only disappointment with Amazon... unless they work with me on this problem.

I did not expect much from this set given the inexpensive price but I have been thrilled so far. This set is more "non-stick" than my my much more expensive hard anodized set. I have used it quite a bit and nothing sticks, it is pretty amazing and makes clean up a breeze. My one concern is the long term durability. The ceramics seems thin and I am a little worried about chipping but I am not rough on cookware so I hope to get at least 6 months out of it while I decide whether to upgrade to a more "name brand" ceramic cookware set or to add a few pieces to this.

My one complaint is more about the industry than this particular product. I do not like the practice of throwing in a few cheap accessories like spoons or spatulas and upping the piece count like they do on the 10 piece set. It is an 8 piece set with a bonus spoon and spatula. Calling it a 10 piece set is an attempt to mislead. I did not take a star off for that because it appears that several companies do that but it does make me distrust those companies.

Note on why Hard Anodized does not work for me. I like using high temperature sometimes for searing and such. Hard Anodized does not do that and is only safe for low heat. ceramic handles higher heat well.

Honest reviews on WearEver Pure Living Nonstick Ceramic Coating PTFE-PFOA-Cadmium

The Amazon heading says "PTFE-PFOA-Cadmium Free" but the package only says "PFOA-Cadmium Free". I am more concerned about PTFE (due to pet birds.) I contacted WearEver and asked specifically about these pans. The response I got said "Our products which are non stick are manufactured with PTFE."

The pans are very light. Have used less than a month and there is a small chip in the ceramic coating. Must cook on low to medium low, or the food sticks. Would not recommend.

I really like the design and the ease of use of this sauce pan. However, the handle fell off after just 6 months of regular home use, due to rust! The pan is supposed to be dishwasher-safe so I am very disappointed. I'm sending it back to Amazon. According to their policy I should at least receive a partial refund.

About 2 months after buying this the non-stick surface has started to come off. It says it's dishwasher safe, so it shouldn't have been that. I use silicone or sometimes wood utensils with my nonstick items, shouldn't have been that.

I tried contacting the manufacturer (Good Cook) and have not heard back from them.

Edit : I've heard back from the manufacturer. They're rectifying the situation. --nov. 10, 2011

Tools of the Trade Basics Starter 12-Piece Cookware Set
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I have had my Tools of the Trade Basics set for about 16 years and it looks no worse for wear than it did after about the first six months. I have read a lot of unfavorable reviews for this cookware and I can only surmise that the cookware's owners did not read, or paid no attention to the enclosed instructions. If you cook with medium~low heat you should NEVER have any trouble with uneven cooking, burn on's, or difficult clean up. My old stainles set is a breeze to use, to clean (I use a two sided sponge/scrubbie thing on everything) and I don't forsee ever having to replace it. My only recommendation would be to buy the set with the all steel handles (unavailable when I purchased mine) so you can use them in the oven if you desire. My brother John is a world class chef and gave my cookware the thumbs up. Naturally...he's been informing everyone who will listen that the secret to successful stovetop cooking (aside from fresh, quality ingredients) is using the proper temperature setting. Buy this cookware and use it properly for life. Don't bother with ANY anodized, or coated cookware.

You get 2 Pans (1 with a glass cover), 3 Steamers (with Glass covers) and 3 spoons/turners. Enough tools for serving a 1 or 2 people meal and probably perfect for a college-grad or the first apartment. The glass tops help as you can see the food while cooking. The utensils look and feel good.

Only thing I wish was included (and which I had to buy separately) is a flat turner (I love omelettes and you cannot make a good one with the ones already in the package).

Overall, good value for money. I checked out a few similar items in stores (including Macy's) and didn't find anything close to this price.

Fabulous plates. I own a dozen Apilco 12 inch plates. I was seeking to increase my number of plates so that I could host a large Thanksgiving dinner. At $95 EACH the Apilcos are way out of my price range (they weren't so expensive when I bought them years ago). After searching high and low for 12 inch plates, I found these. They are much heavier than the Apilcos but look fine right next to them. One really can't tell the difference as the are the same bright white color, the rims are the same width. These are much thicker but one doesn't notice this once the table is set. Like all 12 inch plates, these won't fit in most dishwashers and maybe not even in the kitchen sinks of most people (mine included). The bottom rim is rough from the kiln, not smooth like my other dishes. When stacked these plates will likely scratch each other. I store them with a thin paper plate or a paper towel between them to prevent this. To close, these are very nice plates at a terrific price. I highly recommend them.

Wall Mount Pot Rack-6 hooks
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Loved the way that this was packed. Wrapped in brown paper. The color ivory was close enough to white for my purposes. Came with all the hardware and instructions for hanging in studs or wall. I wish manufacturer had included one extra plastic anchor and screw, and that's the reason for the four stars instead of five. Easy to hang--two screws at top and that's it. Very sturdy and strong. The rack is holding up a small (0.7 cubic foot) microwave, a sugar and flour canister. The hooks are useful. A tiny bit of flaking of the powder-coated finish but this does not really detract--factory flaw. Took a long time to get, though but it was worth the wait.

I purchased this dish as a gift for my wife, thinking that it would be a decent sized round vegetable dish. It is not. Although you cannot tell it from the description and there is no picture on the "product description" page, this bowl is actually what I would call an oval vegetable dish, which is somewhat smaller than the a round vegetable dish.

The quality of the china is fine and it arrived undamaged, although later than I was orignally told. I would give the china 5 stars as an oval vegetable dish and the description 2 stars for being far too vague.

I am reviewing this cookware set having owned & used it for ~6 months. At first glance, this set seems to be very well reviewed; however if you read the reviews closely, it will become apparent that many of them are for older versions of Farberware sets (e.g. "I've owned mine for 27 years...", etc. (!)) Such reviews are very helpful in giving us a concept of the quality of Farberware from 1980, but they are unfortunately irrelevant to the quality of this set. I bought this set aware of said discrepancy, but was hoping that quality had been maintained, a good manufacturer in the past probably being a good one now, etc. etc. This was an error. As it has been noted, the pans' bases are not stainless steel, but rather aluminum that is quite far from stainless. The nonstick coating on said pans is beginning to separate from the pan in several small but spreading points (as I only use plastic spatulas/spoons/etc. to cook with, this is not an issue of user error). I have no complaint with the pots, but at the current rate I will require new pans after about one year of ownership. Whether such an investment is wise I leave as an exercise for the reader, but in my opinion it would be better to spend more initial money on a better quality, wholly stainless steel cookware set.

On another note, I would implore Amazon reviewers to refrain from writing nostalgic reviews of archaic versions of current products.

We're happy with our 20-year-old Farberware stainless steel cookware, pre-dating the stainless steel capped base. The interiors are still like new. The lids are shiny and dent-free. The handles are faded, but remain tight with an occasional turn of a screw. We use it everyday.

We are equally pleased with the newer "Classic" pieces, especially with the added weight and improved appearance of the capped bases. We bought the 15-piece set, giving us some redundant pieces but at a better price than buying fewer pieces individually.

We like stainless steel for several reasons: It cooks well. We can use metal utensils. It lasts for decades. It's dishwasher safe without consequence. It looks good. It's heavy enough. It cleans up easily. (For occasional stuck on food, we simply blot out what's loose, add water, and bring to a boil. After a few seconds, the stuck on food wipes off easily.)

There's pricier cookware available, some with aluminum cores that extend up the sides of the pan, some with copper clad bases, some with handles rated to 500 degrees, some made of anodized aluminum, and some so heavy you can use it as part of your fitness program. After years of no-complaints with our Farberware Classic stainless steel, we can't see paying the premium prices for anything else. We don't use our cookware in the oven, so we're okay with our 350-degree handles.

One complaint with the set: The non-stick skillets are 100% ALUMINUM with a PLAIN exterior and NO heavy base cap. Per Farberware's own website (caps added for emphasis): "Aluminum stains easily and reacts with certain foods. A nonstick interior and PORCELAIN OR NONSTICK EXTERIOR prevents staining and food reaction. Nonstick aluminum is dishwasher safe. A PLAIN AUMINUM EXTERIOR may discolor in the dishwasher."

We use stainless steel for most of our cooking, but still prefer non-stick skillets for some things. We'd like the skillets in this set better if they at least had an exterior finish on them.

Follow-up: We gave away the aluminum skillets from this set and bought a set of Cuisinart stainless steel non-stick skillets to use alongside our collection of Farberware stainless steel.

Best Deals for Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 15-Piece Cookware Set

Farberware classic is great -an inexpensive yet equally functional alternative to the very expensive pots & pans. Note: recently Farberware reduced its quality, in that older Farberware pots & pans had their thick aluminum base completely encased within a stainless steel shell. The newer pots & pans have the aluminum base attached to the bottom, but not encased within a stainless steel bottom. So, their quality is less than it was; most people who "grew up with Farberware" may not realize this. Farberware used to hold the patent on the technique of having the aluminum base CURVE up the side of the pan -they no longer do this, and are the same as many other manufacturers.

Honest reviews on Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 15-Piece Cookware Set

This set gets a single star rating because it is the lowest allowed not because it is THAT good!

I purchased this set from Kohl's and returned it after realizing that the interior bottom of the 4 qt. saucepot was pitting and staining after 3 uses. I began to make soup and the pot seemed to react to boiling some kale very peculiar for stainless (?) steel cookware. Have never had a problem with my "Made in the USA" Farberware which is why I purchased this set without hesitation. I notice that a couple other reviewers have had the same or similar problems.

Luckily I still have my old pieces and I will try to find the additional sizes that I need either used or new that are made in this country. I am really disgusted that Farberware is now made in China! I understand that companies do this because it labor cheaper, but that doesn't seem to translate into lower consumer prices go figure! Perhaps if more of us bought US Made whenever possible, we would see some changes and better quality.

I bought this for my son's third birthday parties and made it twice (once for my husband's family and once for mine). He loved it. Mine did not turn out quite as good as their picture, but they looked pretty good. I had one happy three year old. I used the wilton food coloring and it was kind of pricey but I now have them for cakes in the future. I am planning to do Minnie for my daughter's 1st birthday this fall. I got the coloring locally. This cake took some time (a couple of hours to frost) , but it was worth it. It went faster the second time around. I am sure someone who has more practice at doing cakes would be much more efficient than I!

I can't bake anything to save my life, but my 3 year old nephew said all he wanted for his birthday was a Thomas cake. I bought this cake pan, plus Wilton icing and food coloring and it turned out amazing.

Some tips:

Set aside a good chunk of your day, because from baking to mixing the colors to actually decorating took me at least 4 hours.

Don't be afraid to over-flour the pan. I used a ton of non-stick spray, spread it around with a paper towel, sprayed again, then doused it with flour. Make sure to get every nook and cranny or Thomas will be disfigured when you try to get the cake out.

You don't need to make star-shaped tips or anything fancy like the picture. My frosting turned out too runny so I just piped lines and I think it looks fine.

You don't need to buy all the colors that the instructions say. The food coloring isn't cheap -just improvise. Same with the frosting.

If you mess up, it's very easy to fix. There's no such thing as too much frosting :)

Make sure to follow the directions, but also improvise where possible. If I can do this, anyone can. I'm going to post some pictures on here...

The metal is very thin. The broiler feels very lightweight in a carnival-prize kind of way. It is very difficult to clean and keep shiny.

The thickness of the stainless steel is not listed. I can see why. The broiler pan is very thin and has sharp edges that need to be softened. Should you accidentally drop a chicken I should think a major dent should ensure. The bottom pan has the same flimsily feel and it too has sharp edges as well. I was looking forward to this pan, but the feel puts me off.

I'll use it until I find a better-made piece.

I really enjoy this little broiler pan. For the single person living alone it's the perfect size and it's dishwasher safe.

Very nice looking, while being incredibly useful.

Honest reviews on Progressive Stainless Steel Broiler Pan

If you have trouble cleaning the last little bits of broiled on animal fats from this stainless, and you will, just buy a can of modern EZ Off oven cleaner from Food Lion or whoever your grocery store is. Put the pan in the sink then spray it with the EZ Off and let it sit for 20 minutes or so. then use one of the sponges with the rough surface on the other side and it will be absolutely shiny and spotless when rinsed. As always with any kind of harsh cleaning product I'd do it in a stainless rather than synthetic surface sink and keep away from the fumes.....don't breath 90% of the household cleaners is good advice.

I couldn't believe how shiny this became after I did this. Most stuff comes right off but after a week or two I think I'll use the EZ Off as a super cleaner.

It took a few minutes online to find what I thought would meet my specifications. To say this broiler pan is good, is an understatement. It is EXCELLENT. We have used it several times since the delivery right to our door by Amazon. The food turned out perfectly and the clean-up was easier than anyone could ask. Norpro Non Stick 4-Egg Poacher
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I purchased two of these pans a couple months ago and used them with great excitement at first. The poacher fits easily in several of my pans and cooks the eggs evenly. As time has gone by, I noticed that the center of both pans began to rust as the center (where the handle connects) is not coated well. Second, the non-stick coating is very sensitive. While I should have followed this rule from the beginning (my fault), you should avoid using metal items to remove the cooked eggs. I used a metal spoon to scoop out an egg, and it chipped away at the coating. I still use the non-scratched pan regularly; I just have to be careful to clean the rusted area.

Honest reviews on Norpro Non Stick 4-Egg Poacher

I had been wanting an egg poacher for a long time and was a little suspect of something with such a low price, but decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. The handle in the center makes it easy to take it out of the pan when the eggs are done. The eggs slide right out (I use a little cooking spray) and are perfect every time. I'm glad I didn't buy a more expensive product because this one works perfectly at a perfect price. This time I didn't get what I paid for, I got more.

{Product: Winco Winware Aluminum Non-Stick Saute Pans}

The key ingredients for a viable restaurant-grade non-stick saute pan are as follows:

* Sturdy pan that can be banged around without warping/denting too easily.

* Even heat distribution.

* Silicone sleeve for handle, for easy transfer between stovetop and oven.

* Reasonably durable non-stick coating.

* Inexpensive to replace when worn out (which usually mandates aluminum rather than stainless)

By these 4 criteria, the few winware pans I've handled are servicable.

My chief nits with this line are as follows:

1) They're made in China, rather than the USA. Granted that this is a bit of a sweeping generalization, but from my experience American made products are often a bit higher in quality than their Chinese counterparts. For the same price range, I'd rather buy Eagleware (American), over Winco/Winware (Chinese).

2) In order to keep costs down, this line is all aluminum ... which renders the pans useless for induction cooking. Then again, that's true of a lot of pans in this price range, and most restaurants don't use induction, so it's a non-factor ... except for well to do home cooks. Ya get what ya pay for in non-stick pans.

3) On a specific pan-size note, I have a nit with the 8" pan. The chief purpose of an 8" NS all aluminum pan is making individual omlets, and (without going into too much detail about why) that's about it. Unfortunately, this particular pan is less than ideal for omlets, because the sides have too shallow a slope ... the 8" pan has the same slope as the 14" pan, so losing a full 2" of diameter only leaves the interior diameter of the bottom a somewhat meager 6", which is a bit tight for a classic omlet.

Bottom line this is a serviceable, if unspectacular, inexpensive line of NS Aluminum saute pans. And yes, they are commercial grade ... which isn't really saying much if you're familar with such. In true restaurant fashion, they're meant to be beaten on, and replaced regularly when worn out.

We are plenty happy with pan. Fulfills all that the manufacturer stated. We don't recommend this size for gas stove tops. We don't eat much so thought smaller one would be best. The balance is off and it tips terribly with small amounts of food inside. If we had known, we would have gotten the next larger size.

The non stick aspect of this pan is fabulous but the balance of the pan is way off. It will not lay flat (or barely s0) when empty.

Best Deals for Vollrath Z4008 Wear-Ever CeramiGuard II Interior Fry Pan with Cool

This pan is awesome. Tough non-stick does not scratch easy and works great. Very little will stick to the great coating and the rubber handle always stays cool. The heavy duty rivets are sure to never break. I bought this one to replace my old one, which got pretty much daily use for over five years, until it eventually started to loose teflon in the food.

The only downside I have is the handle is pretty heavy, which causes it to lean back on my gas stove. This is likely just a design conflict between the pan and my stove, but if I put it on there just right, it holds it's balance just fine.

The pan is a nice weight and you don't have to use spray for cooking if you don't want. My only concern was that both pans shipped but there was nothing in the box about how to care for the pan, if it could be put into the oven ( I believe it said when I bought it that it could be put in an oven to 350 degrees ), if it was dishwasher safe, and what kind of temperature with a gas range is best suited for it. What IS CeramiGuard, anyway?
