I'm an avid ice tea drinker and I agree with previous reviews that the 6 1/4 quart size is more than adequate. I didn't realize how big it was until I received it. The one size smaller would have been fine, but this one will do just as fine. I've used it several times now to brew jasmine green tea and I have no complaints on its functionality. I usually keep tea in it over a few days and there is no sign of rust. My previous teapot started showing signs of rust at about this point with tea sitting in the kettle so I am pleased with the Beka. It does take a while to boil due to the larger volume, but brewing good tea takes time.

A couple of notes to consider... The metal is not as thick as I thought that it would be at this price point, but there's issue at this point. Secondly, the kettle had a small ding near the bottom. It's not very noticeable and probably more related to quality control than anything else. The original packaging doesn't seem very sturdy. That's probably when the ding came into play. Cheaper kettle come much better packaged.

Other than the notes, I'm generally pleased with the purchase.

This is exactly what I wanted! I have a Glenwood cook stove and this kettle is perfect! It pours driplessly and the handle stays upright.

I bought this as a gift for my tea-loving friends, and it is, by far, the largest tea kettle I have ever seen. Could easily serve a large crowd and very well constructedmetal is thick and not easy to ding or dent.

Nice quality. Don't expect to boil 6 quarts of water in it though because it will squirt out the spout.

For those who need a big kettle it works just fine. It would be better with a whistle. One has to stay in the kitchen and wait till it boils not to get in trouble.

This cookware is very compact and fits in my bug out pack. They all work great and are dishwasher safe. Everything fits into the pot and stores neatly in a small bag. The fold away handles work well. The bottoms of the pans have a copper coating for great heat transfer. The only problem I had was food sticking to the stainless steel frying pan. You need to use a cooking oil to help. For breakfast, cooking bacon first is perfect. You will have some difficulty trying to fry fish without a bit of oil. You can store a small scouring pad inside the kit. Someone was thinking when they designed this cookware. Works great for two people while primitive camping.

All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Double-Boiler Insert Review

All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Double-Boiler Insert
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

As one of the other reviews state, the lip that allows the pan to sit on top of the 3or 4-quart pot creates a recess inside the pan that makes it hard to get whatever you're working on out of the pan, as it gets caught in the recess. The interior should have completely straight sides. Otherwise, it does what it's supposed to.

I would have been delighted with this double boiler insert (despite the groove noted by previous reviewers) if it had performed as expected. I own three All-Clad LTD pots I should have been able to use it with : 3 quart, 4 quart and 5 quart. The insert doesn't fit the pots precisely or snugly; it slips and tips when set onto the pots. Obviously, this makes it unsafe as well as unusable. Since I agree with some reviewers that the qualty is inferior to All-Clad products produced in the USA, I guess it may be that the items produced in China are not really a good match with the original items produced before recent globalization of the company. Maybe I just got a bad one, but a previous reviewer mentioned the same problem. For an item of that price from a company with the reputation of All-Clad, this is inexcusable.

Best Deals for All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Double-Boiler Insert

I have to admit -I bought this insert simply because I love all things All-Clad. While it heats well, the indentation on the inside is a problem. I love it becuase it allows the insert to fit snugly, but I hated working with it until I got one of those small silicone spatulas. It fits perfectly in the indentation and it's the same one I use with my food processor. I made cheese dip over for the Super Bowl and I was impressed with the insert's performance.

I see that All Clad now has a ceramic double boiler insert. I must live in a test market because I've only seen it at one store and it's not even on the store's or All Clad's website. I forget the cost but, you're buying the insert and the 2 qt saucepan as a set. The insert is removable. I like this original insert better, even with the indentation, because it's bigger.

Honest reviews on All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Double-Boiler Insert

I spent a bit of time trying to get several inserts for my All-Clads pots, pans and stock pots. Here's what I found:

1. The current All-Clad part # for this 3-quart (double) boiler insert is # 8701004490. It fits 3 & 4-quart sauce pans in All-Clad's "Stainless" collection. These pans have an 8-inch inside diameter. It may not fit similarly sized pans in All-Clad's other collections!!! This item has worked fine for me.

2. The (double) boiler insert is complemented by All-Clad 3-quart steamer insert part # 8701004547. See All-Clad 3-qt. Stainless Steamer Insert. It too fits 3 & 4-quart sauce pans in All-Clad's "Stainless" collection. These pans have an 8-inch inside diameter. It may not fit similarly sized pans in All-Clad's other collections!!! This is not a (double)boiler insert. It is a steamer insert.

3. Another smaller but more expensive boiler option to consider is All-Clad's true double boiler (i.e., sauce pan and insert together) # 8400000266, described as a "stainless steel 2-quart sauce pan with 1.5-quart porcelain double boiler." See All-Clad Stainless Steel 2 Qt. Sauce Pan With Porcelain Double Boiler. The insert is smaller than the 3-quart inserts mentioned above, is porcelain (not stainless) and is meant for smaller, finer sauces and such.

4. There is another All-Clad steamer insert available that comes with a lid and has 2 loop-style helper handles. It is All-Clad part # 8700800513 and is made to fit current 2, 3 and 4 quart All-Clad stainless sauce pans and casseroles. It is said to be 8 1/4 inches in diameter and 4 3/4 inches deep. See All-Clad Stainless All-Purpose Steamer with Lid.This is not a boiler insert. It is a steamer insert.

5. The holes in the bottom of all All-Clad's steamer inserts do not extend to the outer edge of the bottom of the insert. The holes only cover about 2/3's of the bottom, radiating out from the center. Some people have complained about "scorching" because of this.

6. All All-Clad boiler inserts and steamer inserts are thinner than the corresponding saucepans they fit. This is not really a flaw, however, since they don't need to be so thick to function properly only as inserts.

7. All All-Clad boiler and steamer inserts are made in China. As I understand it, all All-Clad tri-ply cookware currently is made in the U.S. Non-tri-ply All-Clad items like these boiler & steamer inserts may be made elsewhere to save costs.

8. If you need detailed info on various All-Clad steamer, boiler or colander inserts check out MetroKitchen. They sell through Amazon & have their own website. Search for "All-Clad Stainless Steamers, Double Boilers and Pasta Inserts." They have detailed specs on these items that seem accurate.

In the several weeks I've owned this basting brush, I've used it for brushing dough with butter, spreading a hot waffle iron with oil, and for applying mustard to a quiche crust. In every situation, it works well. I don't find a need for multiple sizes of brushes. This big one serves all my needs. The wooden handle feels comfortably substantial in the hand. It washes well with a swish in the dishwater. (I've not put mine in the dishwasher.)

For many years, I have been using cheap basting brushes for such tasks as basting, barbeque, and other cooking tasks that require a brush. Frankly, I was hesitant to spend the money on this brush because I thought it was expensive compared to the old brushes, which sell for about $6 for a box of 20.

Well, I sure am glad I took the chance. The quality of this, and other, La Creuset silicon brushes and spatulas is excellent. I use this one mainly for barbeque, and the wife uses it for cooking as well. We love it. It spreads sauce evenly, the 'bristles' are soft, and it just works great. There isn't an easy way to speak elegantly about a barbeque basting brush, so it will have to suffice to say that all of our kitchen utensils are being replaced with La Creuset silicon if it's available.

Buy one of these and a silicon spatula. You will be thrilled with how well they work and how easily they clean up.

Honest reviews on Le Creuset Silicone Basting Brush

I looked any looked for one that was made in america and the blue one ( Marseille) Was made in the USA. The other colors and other basting brushes on Amazon are all made in china. I watched a documentary on things made in china and how they were putting lead and mercury in their silicones and plastics. The guy was invited to tour a blow up earth ball makers that makes toys for kids. When he started to ask them how it was made and what was in it they kicked him out. He had it tested and it came back that it had high amounts of Lead and mercury in it.

I replaced a bristle brush with this silicone basting brush after being frustrated with cleaning the bristle brush and constantly dealing with stray hairs coming off of the brush. Guess what?! This brush doesn't do that (obviously). It is easy to clean, spreads well, and my only complaint is that I use a bit more than necessary because the silicone bristles are not as fine as the ones on a brush. This was a great price, as well. I'd highly recommend it.

Reviews of Bialetti Collection 10 Inch Saute Pan

Bialetti Collection 10 Inch Saute Pan
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars

Can't even cook center of fried eggs. When putting oil or butter in pan it goes straight to back of the pan. When I fried potatoes had to keep putting oil in front of pan. After only 2 washings of this pan coating is already coming off on side. Only good thing about this pan is the cushioney handle.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Have you noticed any difference between all the high-priced pans and the Bialetti pans? I certainly have. All those expensive name brands with the non-stick coatings all have uncoated rivets on the inside of the pan where food can stick. It can usually be removed only with a steel wool pad which will inevitably compromise the non-stick coating around the rivet.

The Bialetti pans are the only ones which don't have exposed rivets on the inside of the pan. I find that they also spread the heat evenly. If your pan tips to one side making the butter or oil pool on one side, it may be that your burner is not absolutely flat. I do not experience this problem.

Best Deals for Bialetti Collection 10 Inch Saute Pan

Seemed to have a nice weight and balance but the coating started chipping off in just a week (and I only use nylon spatulas and wooden spoons, no metal). Spend you money on better skillets from Calphalon, Anolon or Cuisinart instead of wasting $20 on this.

Honest reviews on Bialetti Collection 10 Inch Saute Pan

We own a fairly complete set of these skillets and pots, probably over eight years old. We have always loved the look and feel. When it finally came time to replace a couple of them (one had been dropped), I found exactly what we were looking for on Amazon. Unfortunately, upon receipt we discovered that they are no longer made in Italy and are now made in China -and it shows. From a cooking point of view they seem to be just as good as our prior pans purchased several years ago. However, from an appearance point of view it is easy to see that the quality is no longer there. Unless you have the opportunity to compare then with now you might not recognize the differences. The bottom of the pans now have a rough silver surface in concentric circles that scrape across the burners and quickly scratch. Our prior skillets look almost as good today as when we originally purchased them; however, the three new skillets we purchased (8" 10" 12") all show obvious signs of wear on the bottom. I expect over time we will need to replace them due to appearance. On the plus side the handles are similar -although not exact -to the originals and are very comfortable to use. It seems that much of today's cookware tends to have uncomfortable handles in an attempt to be stylish instead of functional. In spite of the obvious wear that quickly shows on the bottom of the pans, we do recommend these for ease of use and cooking quality. I should also mention that owners of the original set will be pleased to know that all lids fit both older and newer versions.

Replacement for like pan that has lasted for many years. Easy to clean as no rivets extend into the pan's inner surface.

That and brand name were major factor in purchase.

Mario Batali Cookware Classic - 6 Qt Dutch Oven Reviews

Mario Batali Cookware Classic Enamel Cast Round Duch Oven - Chianti
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
I really liked the sleek design and color (Chianti, it's a deep red in person) of this Dutch Oven, in comparison to either Le Creuset or Staub. I've had mine for nearly two years at this point, and I've had a long time to come to terms with my buyer's regret.

First off, it weighs substantially more than nearly any other enameled cast iron Dutch Oven in its size that I've ever encountered; Lodge comes close, but the metal of Lodge's is maybe twice as thick. Secondly--and this is the bigger problem--the interior is terribly pitted, and has been since perhaps the first 6-8 months of use. After perhaps a year, it became terribly discolored, which might be fixable with serious cleaner, but I figured that would only make the pitting even worse. The enamel has also chipped in a couple places on the top of the pot and one of the handles. While there's a warranty, I'm not interested in trying again with a second pot; I just can't believe its quality will ever match its price. I'm replacing it finally, with Le Creuset.

I was looking at Amazon with interest in buying another Mario Batali product as I have loved my 6 quart dutch oven given to me as a gift. I was very surprised to see these negative reviews. I have had mine for 4 years, granted I take good care of it, but it is fantastic, cooks evenly and is not pitted or chipped. Yes it is heavy but contributes to it's excellence as far as I am concerned. The metal top handle is definitely not a negative as is sturdy and attractive. And over all super useful and beautiful pot!

Best Deals for Mario Batali Cookware Classic - 6 Qt Dutch Oven

Looks nice and is heavy but has some significant flaws. Most obvious is that the handle for the lid top is metal. What were they thinking? I am used to a Le Creuset and therefore naturally grabbed the knob first time I used it. HOT!!! Le Creuset has a phenolic knob and it works fine. Why did these guys just not copy that like they copied everything else? Also, the enamel was chipped in several places along the handles of the pot itself. It was a gift and Mario Batali Inc will not honor a warranty without the original receipt and then only for the original owner. Quite a different policy than Le Creuset. Pass on this one. Get either the original or the very decent Costco version.

Honest reviews on Mario Batali Cookware Classic - 6 Qt Dutch Oven

Love the wide bottom for browning. I burnt something in it and it cleaned up beautifully. Greatly appreciate the care instructions I would not have known not to go higher than medium high for browning. Great bargain on the Chianti.

We've had this for over 5 years, and it's held up like a champ. I left it on the stove without anything in it, which discolored the bottom, but that's completely my fault still cooks great, and cleans easily. It is heavy, but that's not a bad thing.

This three piece set of cast iron skillets is definately a great value. It meets all expectations. Items were pre-seasoned and hold up very well.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

They came pre-seasoned as advertised. You know a pan is great when egg yolk just beads off of it and scoops right up onto your spatula. I've fried eggs on just about every other type of pan and usually if you accidentally break one, you're through -everything sticks -NOT the case here.

I've been cooking with this set pretty much daily since I got it, and I'm also already feeling the benefits of getting enough dietary iron! (a known result of using cast iron cookware).

Mr. Wilcox, sorry, but next time you should probably bust out a ruler before you decide to buy something. Differences between what you think twelve inches looks like and what it actually does look like are not the seller's fault.

Being Stainless Steel and great workmenship. this pan is great for anything and cleans up so quick!

Best Deals for Cuisinox Rectangular Roasting Pan with Rack, Stainless Steel

Yes, if you push on the bottom, it buckles a bit. Sort of like when I first started out and bought three or so aluminum foil roasting pans. (They worked but weren't particularly stable, and a knife could puncture them, though a knife won't easily puncture the Cuisinox.) Also, the rack in the one I got is flimsier than what's pictured...more like a cooling rack for cakes. The good news (and why I ordered it) is that it will fit in the oven of my teeny-tiny 22"-in stove, because the handles (which are as flimsy as the rack and I probably wouldn't use anyway for lifting) lay flat and don't add to the overall length. I ended up with the Farberware 16.5 x 13.5. which are its EXTERIOR measurements. So it's actually smaller, but VERY well made and holds a 16-lb. turkey easily.

Love these! Love that they go in the dishwasher and are lightweight and durable too. Good value.

Best Deals for Farberware Skillet Set Triple Pack with Stainless Handles

For $20, you get less than you expect, but you expected that anyway. It's a nice, simple set of skillets that you'll use till the nonstick surface eventually fails...they all do. What I didn't expect is that the sidewalls are too shallow. The pictures in the listing misrepresent the skillets and aren't accurate. The actual skillets should have another 1/2" or so to their height to match the pictures. The pictures in the listing show much deeper walls, but in the actual skillets, they're pathetically shallow and it left me feeling cheated about the purchase.

On the plus side, I chose them because I liked the riveted steel handles. I'm sick & tired of the cheap plastic handles that always break, degrade, shatter or snap off. Riveted steel handles are always the way to go.

In the end, I kept this set because I just wanted a cheap set for now. I'm tired of spending good money on name brand, nice nonstick sets from stores that never last. I've bought nonstick skillets, ranging from expensive, cheap, and average over the years...and no matter what, the nonstick always fails within a few months or a year, depending on your care & feeding of them. They'll always get scratched, too high a heat used, have low quality, whatever and etc...and they'll always have a short lifespan.

For a cheap skillet set made in China...just expect to run these till the wheels fall off, then replace them.

It's a shame that almost nothing is quality made anymore...and instead we're left with dismal quality on almost everything we buy now, most made in China or other third world countries. It's become the norm and we just accept it. It's so hard finding anything made in the U.S.A. anymore, and made of quality...and we're all disgusted with this.

Pretty sweet deal for three skillets. The small one is perfect for three eggs. Flips nicely too.

Does Cusinart look as good, yes, is it as good, hmmm, well I am not a professional chef and certain cooking shows state a quality stainless steel product the food won't burn as quickly on bottom and will cook more evenly. Well I didn't see a whole lot of difference between my stainless steel version of Cusinart, but again, I am not a professional Chef, soooo...

If Cusinart still stated their stainless steel products were 18/10, which they stopped doing probably a year or so ago and if they made their products in USA and they were still approx the same price as they are now (so much cheaper than All Clad), I would buy Cusinart, they look great and cook just fine for me on stove and in oven.

I tell anyone how much my Cusinart cost, but daren't say anything on how much I spent on the All Clad, ridiculous really, but I do like my kitchen pans :)

This rack, made in Indonesia, appears to be completely made of solid stainless steel unlike others that use chrome plated or aluminum hooks or chains. It has a center grid. All mounting hardware is included, even ceiling screw hooks. It uses rigid stainless strips to connect to the ceiling, not chains.

Make sure your ceiling joists are 16" apart or you're mounting this in parallel along a single joist. My joists are 18" apart unfortunately, and the Amazon description fails to mention this requirement.

One last note, Cuisinart customer service offered no help whatsoever with my installation problem. Good product, poor support.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

The pot rack is great, easy to assemble and looks great in our kitchen.

Two quick points about assembley:

1. Some of the hardware described in the directions has changed. It looks to me like improvements/updates were made to the hardware but not the instruction sheet. Still no problems installing and everything worked fine.

2. This pot rack does not use chains for installation. We did not take this into consideration when we bought this for our kitchen, which has 10 foot ceilings. We ended up buying a small length of chain to lower the rack so that pots could be reached. This is not Cisinart's problem, it is ours, but thought readers would want to know so they can plan accordingly.

Best Deals for Cuisinart CRC-29B Octagonal Hanging Cookware Rack

I have been wanting a hanging pot rack for quite some time but they always seemed a bit over priced. Found this one on sale and with the free shipping I could not pass it up. It is heavy duty and holds my new Cuisinart pots with no problem. My husband installed it with absolutely no difficulty. I have received a lot of compliments from family and friends. I would highly recommend this product.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart CRC-29B Octagonal Hanging Cookware Rack

A manufacturing error which I would expect exists on ALL newly manufactured items renders this rack dangerous to use. The welded end is almost a 1/4" wider than the bolts will safely support the pot grid which floats inside this rack. The end formed by bending is nominally sufficient. The holes on the bent end are almost 1/4" closer together. Wiggle the rack a little bit getting a pot and the whole set of pots with the grid will land on you. You will be injured or dead. I have contacted Cuisinart concerning this dangerous issue. I have filed a report with the consumer product safety board. I will contact Amazon directly when I finish supper.

OK Here is the deal. The current Amazon price is a very nice deal. The all clad is a fortune and others go much higher. The hanging grid does not fit properly. Can it be fixed by the handy person purchasing the rack? Yes, but you need to be very careful not to ruin your investment. So the rack is too large, or the grid is too small. You are not going to stretch the grid, so you need to bend the rack itself. If your rack is not particularly oversize you can do the following carefully: (1) assemble the entire rack and see how loose the grid is. (2)remove the grid and with the rack on its side, gently bend first one end (hold near holes) and then the other probably over a carpet (3)recheck with the grid to see if it now touches close to the rack. If your rack is quite oversize, the same concept will work but you will need a vise with jaw covers and a steady hand.

The price is so good, and the alternatives so expensive, I would encourage you to exercise your home mechanics skills. DO NOT install this unit with the rack floating on the last thread -if anything, make is fit TIGHT. Good luck.

The rack itself has threaded holes; proper assembly following the diagrams provided is critical.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Cuisinart CRC-29B Octagonal Hanging Cookware Rack

This is a great pot rack, but please bear in mind the following:

1. You need to align the pots so that they're balanced. I've got some very heave large pots, and they need to be in the middle of the rack.

2. You need to install it (or, as in my case, have someone allowed to use power tools install it) into either a ceiling beam, or a beam that is installed to connect to existing joists. If you stick it in the ceiling without doing that, it will fall out. (As per the nice professionals who installed it for me.) You don't need to be a professional to install it, they were at my house replacing all the lighting in the kitchen, so the ceiling had been removed anyway.

3. If you're tall, you can put the lids on the top. If you're vertically challenged, hang it a little lower using some chain links you can easily get at the hardware store.

When I got married, my husband and I wanted to get really good cookware. In particular, we want an induction cook surface, so we it had to be induction-compatible. At first, it appeared that All-Clad was the only option, and man, is it expensive! My parents discovered the Henckels Classic Clad line and I was a bit skeptical. I love my Henckels Twin Cuisine knives, but knives are not pots. Well, one grasp of the All-Clad handle and the Classic Clad handle and I was sold on Henckels! These pots are heavy and All-Clad's handle is concave (dips inward) and is painful for me to hold. The Classic Clad turned out to be a wonderful investment. The pots are very easy to clean, work wonderfully on induction, and heat food very evenly like clad cookware should. It doesn't hurt that they are also beautiful 18/10 stainless steel (I can't wait to have a pot rack to display them!). And the price tag is a lot easier on the wallet than All-Clad. We helped my brother-in-law register for these after they didn't receive any of their All-Clad, and they received every piece of Classic Clad they asked for!

A tip for anyone who owns expensive stainless steel pots never use steel wool to clean them! You'll irreparably destroy the surface. Soak, be patient, and try toothpaste instead (a tip from Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean).

Have used this cookware for about a month now on conventional glass electric cooktop. Have had no issues with cleaning the stainless steel pans and the non stick frying pans are great. They brown meats very quickly and the small 8 in pan cooks great omlettes. One disappointment is that the cookware set came with a stainless 3 qt saute pan even though Henckels makes a 3 qt non stick saute pan. If ordering a not stick cookware set, would expect all pieces for which there is non stick version available to be a part of the set.

The set was purchased primarily to go with an induction cooktop being installed as part of a kitchen remodel in the next month. I have used the 2 qt sauce pan on a single element induction cooktop (Max Burton 6000) and it boiled water very quickly so look forward to using the whole set on the induction cook top.
