Best Basic Essentials 16pc Stainless Steel Cook and Prep Set Deals
This is a decent little set for the money. But the accompanying instruction sheet says "handwash only." That little piece of intormation should have been included in the product description. I wouldn't have purchased these had I known. (Who wants to wash their pots & pans by hand?!)

The Pampered Chef Medium Scoop #2540 Review
If you want your drop cookies to look like Mrs. Field's cookies, then use this scoop. Easy to use and each cookie comes out a uniformed size. Easy clean up, dishwasher safe, and they last a long time. I've had mine several years and they are still good as new. I did buy an off brand once and it kept getting stuck. You will not be disappointed with the Pamper Chef brand. Great gift for your favorite baker.

Lodge A1-12 Camp Dutch Oven Tote Bag, 12-inch Review

List Price: $23.00

Simple to use.
1) Place lid in bottom of bag first.
2) Place D.O. on top of lid.
This keeps legs from stressing the bottom and allows the oven to breath.
For added safety and convenience I placed a matching size tin plate on the bottom of the bag. It not only protects the bag but it's nice to have a dedicated plate/surface to rest things on.

This tote bag is made to carry and protect your beloved dutch oven. Why a tote bag you may ask? It not only protects your valuable $50 or antique dutch oven, but it keeps your other items clean if your oven has soot on the outside. These come in different sizes just like the ovens themselves. This particular one will fit a dutch oven up to 8 quarts or 12" in diameter which is the standard size used by scouts and other groups. It has a padded bottom to protect the legs, a heavy duty zipper closure, and carrying straps.Best Deals for Lodge A1-12 Camp Dutch Oven Tote Bag, 12-inch

I have got to say I'm pretty impressed with this bag. I have a 10" Lodge camp oven and was worried about the legs punching holes, but the bottom has padding in between the inner and outer layers so it's really not a problem. I am not only able to put in my oven, but also some of the objects that are necessary to go with it. The handles are of tough webbing. I'm quite satisfied, especially at the price.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Lodge A1-12 Camp Dutch Oven Tote Bag, 12-inch
I like the product very much, but have added a 3/8" plywood bottom cut to 12" diameter to prevent the legs from wearing through the foam.Tuesday, December 2, 2014

So about 8 months ago I tried out my first set of ceramic pans. They were really nice and I liked them because they were a "green" and non-toxic solution to nonstick pans. They worked excellent with eggs and frying veggies and lighter fare but had a really hard time standing up to meat (and yes even with seasoning the pan appropriately yada yada yada). Every time I cooked red meat on my 10 in ceramic, it degraded the coating. Then one day I tried doing some fish on it, thinking it wouldn't be as bad, and it destroyed the pan in one shot. The fish skin stuck to the coating and nothing I could do would save it. I am certain this was partially do to the slow degradation over time but I was really miffed by this. Ceramic pan last 6 months and died. So, I decided to try something else. Found this stone earth pan and gave it a shot. WOW! What a difference. This seems to be one of those instances where the fad is winning out over good tech because this is superior in just about every way. Heat is more consistently distributed. It is more sturdy. Best of all, this cooks eggs and veggies just as well as ceramic but can stand up to heavier foods like steaks, burgers, fish, chicken, heavy sauces, etc. I wish I had found this first. Out of every non-stick solution I have tried old non-stick, hard anodized, ceramic, and now stone this is by far my favorite pan I have ever owned and I was sad to see it has gone out of stock and that I could not find this in 8 in and 12 in sizes with a crock pot and the whole nine yards. I want a whole set!!!!
3 month update: I have put this pan through it's paces use it at least every other day and it has shown absolutely no degradation in the nonstick coating. This is with seasoning the pan with oil each time and not turning it above medium as directed on the box. This pan continues to stand up to all kinds of food and cooking.
The pan has a solid, balanced feel to it, looks good, the handle feels good in the hand and has a solid heft to it as well. The pan is very flat on the bottom which is another huge plus!
The sides of the pan are almost completely vertical which I also like. I believe that this pan will keep me cooking for quite some time. I would like to see it offered in both a smaller and a larger size as well, if possible.
Even though I haven't had the pan long, I use it everyday and so far it has certainly met my expectations and by far exceeds the quality of the other three pans I purchased hoping for the quality the Stone Earth pan has provided.
I would definitely recommend this to others.

For my review on Quick Tattletials I received one STONEHENGE Ultra-safe 100% PFOA-Free Non-Stick Stone Coating From Germany, Stone Earth Pan, by Ozeri! This is the most awesome frying pan! Nothing sticks to it. You can fry eggs, veggies, burgers, chicken and everything else, without anything sticking to it! It's not light weight, nor is it heavy. It's just right! It's very easy to clean, just take a wet soapy paper towel or sponge to it. Make sure you season your pan, with ½ teaspoon of olive oil or vegetable oil. This pan is very Eco-friendly and perfect for everyday use. I would highly recommend, The Stone Earth Pan, by Ozeri!Best Deals for The Stone Earth Pan by Ozeri, with 100% PFOA-Free Stone-Derived
This pan makes my 4th attempt at trying to find a good non-stick frying pan. What a relief to finally find one that does what a non-stick pan is supposed to do...cook food without the food sticking and burning. And the cleanup is wonderful. Because what I mostly use it for is stir frying chicken tenders with onions and peppers in a small amount of olive oil and in the other pans the food eventually sticks some and would leave a burnt residue on the bottom of the pan that made clean up a chore. The pan has a solid, balanced feel to it, looks good, the handle feels good in the hand and has a solid heft to it as well. The pan is very flat on the bottom which is another huge plus!

I have been pleased with its nonstick properties so far. It also is a very attractive frying pan. Is heavier than most frying pans which I like. After ordering I found out that it should not be heated above medium heat. The instructions said this would not be a problem as it has superior heat transfer. I have not found this to be the case. It seems what you save in cleanup time is counterbalanced by what you lose in cooking time. I have cheaper nonstick pans that I feel free to use at high heat. I reckon they will not last as long but for the price perform better if cook time is included in the equation.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for The Stone Earth Pan by Ozeri, with 100% PFOA-Free Stone-Derived
We've had the pan for a few weeks now. Love it! Takes only a small amount of oil and nothing sticks to it. I've made pancakes, eggs, stir fry, fish & chicken. No problem! The 10" pan is a nice size for cooking everything. I never notice the handle getting hot like my stainless steel pans. Directions say to not heat the pan more than medium heat, but I don't turn it up higher than that anyway. Not sure what would happen to the pan if I did. I don't put it in the dishwasher either, just hand wipe clean. My only gripe is that the pan is a little heavy but that may just be my wrist (injured years ago). Other than that, we use this pan everyday!Sunday, November 30, 2014

I researched for a long time for a rack that would fit my space but still have enough storage space. I was very happy with this purchase. I ended up having to use it as the small size and it still has tons of storage. love my rack and love how much space is freed up in my small kitchen with not alot of space for storage. It was a little bit of a pain to put together but it was worth it. There a few steps that you almost have to have a 2nd person to hold as you piece togehter. I paid about $20 more at Kohls but thats okay it was the cheapest I could find it at the time. I have owned this for about 4 months and I am very happy with it.
The only true negative with this rack is the anchor styem. I had to call the company twice and they do not answer questions about the Toggler anchorsyou have to call a seperate company. I also had to call a plaster specialist about advice weither or not the Toggler could be used in my ceiling. The Toggler is meant for HOLLOW wall space. After talking a plaster guy and told him about my wall space and year built it was determined that I do have hollow space and could use the anchor system. make sure you aviod beams cause it will not work. After drilling 1/2 inch in my ceiling I put the anchor in and I must not have broke it off correctly because it was stuck and not in the correct position. I again called the company and asked for advice. They sent me TWO new togglers and there apologies. When they arrived, within only a few days, I was told to just use something to push the old one up and into the ceiling and put the new one. So I did and once again it broke incorrectly!! Frustrated and down to my last Toggler I gave it more shot and SUCCESS!! It was a bit of a pain to get up but I love it. Make sure you just KNOW where are gonna hang and have read ALL the directions, especially realted to togglers, before hanging. If you do this you will be much happier. But if you make mistakes, like I did, know the company(s) are very helpful and will do anything they can to help you figure it out!! I thought the togglers seemed flimsy at first but after now fully understanding the designed, they actaully are pretty ingenious and I have no doubt that they will hold the weight they claim. The rack does shift weight when take off and put on new pots/pans, made me nervous first time it happens but its just redisributing weight and once again NO PROBLEMS. I know its a long review but I wish I had known the info and i help someone! All and all a great purchase on a budget, looks great and works great!!
We have an entire set of Cuisinart pots and three cast iron pots hanging from it, and all the lids on top of the gridand there are no problems with the weight load.
Pros:
-Great rack for the money
-Easy to install (no need for studs)
-Expandable
-Came with grids!
Cons:
-Would be nice to know whether or not it comes with grids
-The grids were a little precarious at firstsliding back and forth. We found a position in which they are sturdy, but had to play with it a couple minutes.
-Would be nice if it also included the ceiling hook-covers too :)
I would most definitely buy this product again and recommend it to a friend.

This is a great pot rackespecially for the money. We've owned it for ~2 months now, and it has changed our kitchen. We had very little room, and loved that this one is expandablealthough we currently have it on the smallest setting. I ordered this rack and the grids to go with itbut when it arrived, there was a bright yellow star printed on the box that read: Now with Grids! so I unfortunately had to go through the exchange process to return the gridswould've been nice to know that up front, but heyat least I got the grids! We have an entire set of Cuisinart pots and three cast iron pots hanging from it, and all the lids on top of the gridand there are no problems with the weight load.

Discount Fox Run Double Boiler
This just arrived, so I haven't even used it yet, but I am not at all pleased with this product.
It is advertised as stainless steel, and it certainly is not. It is some light weight material, I would guess aluminum by its weight, except that it has a very badly applied chrome-colored finish, and I see no reason why anyone would bother to add such a cheap exterior coating to aluminum. And when I say badly applied, I mean the surface is irregular, with bumps and bubbles, etc. Nothing about it speaks of any quality whatsoever. Moreover, I would not have purchased it if I had known that it was not stainless steel, which, please note, ir is clearly stated to be in the listing.
Since it would cost more to return it than it's worth, I'm stuck with this bogus product. That being the case, as it will have no direct contact with food, I will try it, though I don't expect it to last long; my guess is once the cheap paint peels it will let water in, and it will quickly rust.
Now that I have it in hand, neither the box, nor the product itself, claims it is stainless steel, so this deception is on the seller for misrepresenting the product in the listing.
I purchase quite a bit from Amazon, for the most part with good results, but I wish Amazon would do more to ensure that sellers post accurate information when listing items for sale.
TIP: Use pots you don't care about for use with these exclusively [at least for the larger pot that will hold the water so the finish doesn't ruin the inside]--or purchase some cheap junk pots to use with this. This is what I should have done from the beginning and will do from now on.
You put the device in the bottom pot, which is full of water. Then you place the smaller pot with the food to be cooked on top of this device.

I ordered two of these and used them for the first time. Unfortunately, I used good stainless steel pots with these. The finish came off and became "stains" on the pots. I just finished using it for the first time. It worked perfectly. For about five bucks, I turned two pots I already owned into the double boiler I needed. And being about the size of a roll of duct tape, it saves me a lot of room in my tiny kitchen. It is very sturdy. I bet you could run over it with a car and it would still retain its shape. You put the device in the bottom pot, which is full of water. I'm thrilled with this purchase! Since I need to be gluten free I have found myself pan frying my own chicken strips (made with a gluten free blend for the breading of course). After a dinner like that my stove would be a nightmare of oil splattered everywhere. Similarly with bacon, my stove would be an absolute mess.
Now I just plot this splatter screen over my pan, let the oil do the cooking and quickly lift it up to flip them over. The huge mess is nowhere to be found when I have finished cooking.
This splatter screen is very durable, the mesh on the top is definetly going to stand up to very high heat for long periods of time. It's also pretty quick and easy to clean. I haven't had it for long, but have used it numerous times so far. I have read about other products that have started to rust after a couple of uses, that has not happen with this splatter screen and I do not anticipate it happening.

Zyliss Mix-n-Measure Set with Lid Review

At first I loved the Zyliss Mix-N-Measure Stackable Measuring Cup Set with Lid. It's attractive, it stacks, it pours well, and it's light weight. I have not used the lid, however I appreciate the inclusion as it would be useful for some people I'm sure. Now that I've had the set about six month, I am noticing that the red lettering (which is a little hard to see anyway) is wearing off. Up until now, my biggest complaint would be the red lettering. But I can see that the set will eventually be useless as far as accurate measuring is concerned. I'm very disappointed as I looked around a long time before choosing this set, which was not inexpensive. Also be aware that it cannot be washed in the dishwasher, nor can it go into a microwave. Needing to handwash was okay with me, but the microwave restriction was limiting.
First it is a little strange to be able to peer down into the cup and see the measurement. The plus is that it is on the side as well.
The lid only fits the 4 cup measurer which for me was the cup I have used the least.
The most upsetting aspect of these cups is that the red writing has not held up. I have never washed them in the dishwasher and yet the writing on the most frequently used 1 cup measurer is now illegible which has made it useless for measure.
After this experience, I have decided that glass still makes the best liquid measuring cups.
Do not waste your money on this product.

I love these measuring cups! They nest perfectly and take up little space in the cupboards. They perform as advertised and make it easy to read the amount of liquid in the cup, while the cup is sitting on the counter. No more having to wait for liquid to settle down and level while you hold the cup in the air.Best Deals for Zyliss Mix-n-Measure Set with Lid
I bought these because I wanted a liquid measuring cup larger than 2 cups and the stacking ability appealed to me.First it is a little strange to be able to peer down into the cup and see the measurement.
Honest reviews on Zyliss Mix-n-Measure Set with Lid
I like Zyliss products. We have the garlic press, pizza cutter, chip clips, etc. But these measuring cups haven't held up. They're not microwave-safe, which is fine. But they do claim to be dishwasher safe. But after less than a year of regular use, the measurements are wearing off the cups. And apparently this isn't because we put them in the dishwasher, because another reviewer, who hand-washes his, is having the same problem. I'm disappointed. I've used both Pyrex and Anchor-Hocking glass measuring cups without a problem for years. They're not stackable, but they are microwave-safe, and the lettering has never worn off. Back to glass for me.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Zyliss Mix-n-Measure Set with Lid
I did a lot of research on measuring cups first. I didn't want glass ones--too heavy and they can break. I didn't want cheap plastic ones either--they discolor and don't hold up. These Zyllis cups are perfect. You get 3 different sizes which nest together for easy storage. They are easy to read and made of high quality material. The handle design makes them easy and comfortable to use. They are also bright red which matches all my kitchen accessories. The only place I found them was on Amazon.com. I am really pleased with these measuring cups and would recommend them to anyone.Wednesday, August 27, 2014

This little sushi dining set is perfect for takeout sushi at home. It would be the perfect gift for anyone who loves sushi. The bamboo is very attractive, solid, and the chop sticks have a very good feel to the hand.
In addition to its wonderful aesthetic quality, I really like the idea of bamboo being a naturally regenerating material a self-sustaining and renewable resource. And it cleans easily requiring little care. A totally "win-win" situation!

While the product was very nice, I assumed there would be 2 plates as there were 2 sets of chopsticks, 2 bowls, 2 holders so I was displeased with there being only 1 plate. Other sets had 2 plates, wish I had bought a different set.Honest reviews on Totally Bamboo Sushi Gift Set

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program With Christmas just around the corner, this cookware set would make a beautiful and functional gift. It is substantial feeling without being overly heavy. I noticed also that through December 31, 2013 that a 5 quart stainless steel Dutch oven with a glass lid is being offered as a free gift with purchase. Nice deal because the price for this set ($399) is already reasonable for what you're getting. Be sure to follow the special offer instructions to the left of the page.
NOTE: First thing because copper conducts heat so well and so evenly, DON'T use above medium heat to cook on the stovetop. You will get sticking and burning. And it heats just fine to cook at the lower temperatures. This was a big change for me. I was used to cooking on medium-high and high temps to sear meats or boil liquids. Even to boil, you should only need medium-high heat.
I've used the sauté pan and the stock pot so far to make fried pork chops, skillet roasted chicken finished off in the oven, and chili. When I fried the pork chops, I actually had fond (pan leavings) left and was able to deglaze and make pan gravy. Yea! I've had non-stick pans for a lot of years and they just don't do sauces and gravies as well as these pans do. And yes, the handles do get hot in the oven (a remark in another review).
One thing I got, since I do have a gas range and it was recommended, is an 8" HEAT MASTER FLAME TAMER. This is an insert that goes on top of my gas burner and helps diffuse the heat. I can now leave the pans on low simmer and not worry about scorching food. This was only recommended for a gas range.
I like that the set has metal lids, which I much prefer over glass. These nest down on the pans and form a nice seal.
Maintenance has been easy so far. I soak the inside of the pans with warm water and Dawn Non Ultra Original Scent Dishwashing Liquid 12.6 Fl Oz before cleaning up with a dishcloth.
It is not recommended to clean the pans in the dishwasher because the copper will scratch and discolor but the LIDS are dishwasher safe.
I haven't had to polish the copper yet but there are many copper polishes sold. So far the pans still look great.
You can use metal utensils with the pans, which I prefer, even a hand mixer with metal beaters. There WILL BE scratches but the Cuisinart owners guide says "they (the scratches) will in no way impair the performance" of your cookware.
The real test, however, is not how cookware looks but how it cooks, and this set gets hot (too hot use to a high setting on the burner) and cools down quickly. On a glass-top stove, the heat is dispersed around the pot so there are no hot spots that can burn food before you notice. Are these better than my everyday set of stainless steel cookware? No, not in my book, but it would be difficult to find a set that was easier to use than what I already own; they are, however, just as good and a whole lot prettier.
I've always wanted a set of copper cookware but refrained from getting one for two reasons: price and upkeep. The price for this set is very reasonable. The entire set costs no more than a single French copper saute pan, so if price has kept you from enjoying copper cookware, this set could be your answer. Upkeep may still be something of a problem because our water has a lot of calcium. While I filter all water we drink, I do use tap water for washing, so I'll be watching for discoloration after several uses. After washing these pans for the first time, however, I saw no discoloration. Cuisinart makes a copper cleaner, but they also suggest a home-made cleaner that may work just as well.
Like my stainless cookware, these pans will go into the oven. The handles stay cool on the stove top, but it is possible they'd heat up in the oven. I have yet to try them there.
Overall, I am delighted and happy to recommend this cookware to others.
FIVE STARS!
UPDATE:
I was mistaken -there is a BIG difference in these pots and my old stainless steel ones. These require a much lower heat to cook. Cuisinart suggests you use only medium or low heats with these pans, and, having used them several times, I understand. They heat rapidly and evenly, but they cook well on much lower heat than I am accustomed to using. Lovely!
Now to see how they fare when I use them in the oven.
First off, the appearance is beautiful! I am one to "hook" my pots and pans throughout my kitchen to save space around the kitchen cabinets, and exchanging my silver stainless steel pots and pans for these has made a huge difference. Whatever kitchen one has, these pots and pans will receive many compliments. I must admit, however, that these pots and pans might look most exquisite in a rustic-looking kitchen (just my opinion here).
The durability and design of the pots is satisfactory. The pots and pans are sturdy and are not overly heavy. The lids, however, are rather light. Personally, I prefer glass lids to keep a close eye on my food as it cooks, but glass lids would not complement this set. Despite the lid's lightness, each lid is conveniently designed and is not a reason to rate the product unsatisfactory.
From my first use of this set, I noticed that I did not need to use high heat while cooking, as the copper heats quickly. I have used all pans and pots and have had no issues. I was initially concerned that the handles would become too hot, but I was surprised that although it does warm up, one's hand will not burn. Perhaps this is the case because I did not use high heat, but I always take and advise precaution.
Although most food does not stick to these pans, I would not say they are "non-stick". I say this because I made a thick egg omelet, and some of the ingredients were difficult to scrape off. After a second try, I applied cooking spray, and the results were better. Despite some food sticking, soaking the pots/pans in hot water for a while will prove a lifesaver when washing. Cleaning this set otherwise is easy. I do not recommend any metal scrubbers for this set because the surface will scratch (I learned this from previous experiences). Although scratches will not hinder cooking satisfaction, I note this important because some people do not appreciate scratches on their pots (I am one of them). Also, one should not put any pieces of this set in the dishwasher as the company suggests.
Overall, this set is a lovely one. Whether for personal use or for gift purchase, I highly recommend this set. I am not a professional chef, but I enjoy cooking, and my pots and pans are important to making nice meals. I have, unfortunately, had to dispose of poor-quality cookware, but Cuisinart has yet to dissatisfy my expectations.
I have already used about half the set to some extent, and they work well. They do indeed heat more evenly than thinner pans, and the handles are indeed quite sturdy.
I have been impressed with how quickly and evenly the pans heat their contents. I have cooked many meals in the frying pan, saucepan and boiled a lot of water in the stock pot. All worked very well.
Even though the handles are metal, they do not get too hot with normal use, except lids and, to a lesser extent, the stock pot handles (which are smaller and closer to the body of the pan.
They clean up reasonably well, but the copper external finish will be a major problem if one wishes to keep the mirror finish with normal or heavy use. The copper will discolor and get scratched up that is a fact of kitchen life.
If you want these to stay in a like-new, mirror-perfect state, then just hang them up for decoration and don't use them. Otherwise, just expect time and use to take its toll.
The one question I have is about the quality and purity of the metals used. Cuisinart scrupulously avoids mentioning their place of manufacture, which to me is a red flag. If they were made in a location conducive to customer confidence, any marketing person worth their salt would be touting that from every corner.
Silence about that speaks volumes, and not good ones.
Cuisinart also lists these items as discontinued on their web site, but without reason.
I intend to contact Cuisinart and see if they will part with information regarding manufacturing locale and metal purity.
Until I know for sure, I will avoid the use of strongly acid foods in the pans, to avoid leaching unwanted contaminants. Depending on what I find out, I may change the star rating.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This set of copper and stainless steel cookware is the best-looking I've ever owned, eye-catching enough to live on a hanging rack above the stove where everyone can enjoy them. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I owe a few stainless steel pots and pans of various brands, but my favorite is my ONE Cuisinart stainless steel fry pan. Staub Round Cocotte Review
This is a terrific item, that is beautifully finished. Is it better than le Creuset? That's a matter of opinion. Both brands are top quality, so I would readily recommend either one. The 2-quart size is great for preparing main courses for 2-3 people, but not as good for larger dishes. Last, but not least, Amazon had a very low price on it with fast, free delivery.
This pan makes PERFECT! rice nice and fluffy, absolutely no sticking or browning/burning on bottom of pan. I think it is due to the even heating of the cast iron thick walled pan and also due to the self-basting spikes on the lid, so that the rice steams perfectly in the pan. I have made white jasmine rice and regular brown rice and both turned out PERFECTLY. Much nicer than a rice cooker or pressure cooker. Recipe: I followed the rice:water ratio on the package (1 c dry rice) and added 1/4 tsp salt and 1 tsp butter. Add everything to pan, bring to a boil, cover, turn heat to low then simmer for time directed on package. Remove from heat (do not remove cover) and let sit until ready to serve. It fits 1 c dry rice (cooked) just right any larger quantity and I assume it will overflow.
I have not yet used the pan for cooking anything else. It is a little small for homemade soups or main dishes but would be good for reheating (if that is your thing I am a microwaver, myself). I think it will make great oatmeal or steel-cut oats by a similar method to the rice. I also love the color of this pan a deep pretty green.

This is my first piece of Staub and I was looking forward to receiving it. I was aware of the size but love it for small jobs it really keeps you items moist. Very interesting how it compares to my Le Creuset. Different interior color and texture which actually adds to the sealing in of the foods juices. Clean up was simple as well. Would by another piece to add to by Enameled Cast Iron collection. Great Price too!Best Deals for Staub Round Cocotte
I could not resist the good deal I got on this "French Oven" in basil. I love this item! It is a darling little pot sitting on my stovetop. This 2 qt size is quite small about 7" diameter x 3.5" high. But that also makes it easier to handle than the larger Dutch ovens, since it is still a solid, heavy duty enamel cast iron pan. This pan makes PERFECT! rice nice and fluffy, absolutely no sticking or browning/burning on bottom of pan. I love-love-love my little baby cocotte! The eggplant color is so beautiful, I leave it sitting on my stove just to look at it. The size was a little smaller than I realized it would be, but turns out to be perfect to cook rice or anything else that needs constant, even heat.
