They're perfect. What can you say about elastic strings that you use to tie up roasts and chickens? They work.

I gave it five stars because they work better then string. they hold your food together like a rubber band with out the rubber. I would recommend this to any one that cooks with a rotisserie to hold there food together. I never had one brake yet. I love them.

These make wrapping up a raw, slippery chicken so easy. Since they are stretchy elastic bands, there's no tying involved it's super simple.

I love how they came pre-knotted -much easier to use than the ones that came with my rotisserie oven.

This dish is well made and wonderful in that you can use it in the oven, under the broiler, or over the stove top. It does not, however, keep the food very warm. The outside of the pan is warm to the touch when set over the candles, but the food is lukewarm. Works well if your buffet dish comes right out of the oven to the line and is served immediately. Does not work well for keeping food warm for more than 30 minutes.

This buffet server uses small candles to keep food warm. I thought it used burners. I had to return the product as the candle holder was broken.

While the size of the container and the lid are great, the warming system using a tiny candle that lasts maybe 20-30 min and does not really warm is horrible!!! The unit should come with a sterno heating element!

Honest reviews on Cuisinart 7BSRT-31 Classic Entertaining Collection 12-Inch, 5-Quart

I just purchased 4 of these Buffet Servers 2 oval, 1 round and this rectangular one. I had a dinner party for 16 people on Wednesday and used the servers for the first time. They were really great. Looked good my husband is a bit of a design snob and he even commented that they looked nice. Quality is good for the price. Useful features are that the trays are "stove to serve" and the glass cover is great for guests to "see and select". Tea light candles are adequate for heating. I made spring rolls for appetizers. After 3 hours, they were still warm even with the lid off (to keep rolls crispy.)

I bought this for use at Thanksgiving when my family of about 20 gets together at my house. These worked perfectly for what I needed them for which was serving large amounts of dishes and keeping them warm while I pull other things out of the oven and set the table. They look really nice as well. They are high quality/heavy duty and the set looks nice on the table together. I bought 2 other serving dishes that also match this set. I definitely recommend them.

Works well. I'm used to pressure cookers so this wasn't different but the red pin close to the handle got me. It wasn't in the right position when I got the cooker and when I tried pressuring it won't work. Then I realized it had to be up, not inside the hole.

This pressure cooker is the perfect size for me. I cook small amounts of food at a time. The cooker is good quality and works perfectly. With this one, as with others, after use and washing, I oil the seal and put it in the pot, not the lid, until next use. It will keep the seal supple and longer lasting.

This just arrived, so I haven't even used it yet, but I am not at all pleased with this product.

It is advertised as stainless steel, and it certainly is not. It is some light weight material, I would guess aluminum by its weight, except that it has a very badly applied chrome-colored finish, and I see no reason why anyone would bother to add such a cheap exterior coating to aluminum. And when I say badly applied, I mean the surface is irregular, with bumps and bubbles, etc. Nothing about it speaks of any quality whatsoever. Moreover, I would not have purchased it if I had known that it was not stainless steel, which, please note, ir is clearly stated to be in the listing.

Since it would cost more to return it than it's worth, I'm stuck with this bogus product. That being the case, as it will have no direct contact with food, I will try it, though I don't expect it to last long; my guess is once the cheap paint peels it will let water in, and it will quickly rust.

Now that I have it in hand, neither the box, nor the product itself, claims it is stainless steel, so this deception is on the seller for misrepresenting the product in the listing.

I purchase quite a bit from Amazon, for the most part with good results, but I wish Amazon would do more to ensure that sellers post accurate information when listing items for sale.

I ordered two of these and used them for the first time. Unfortunately, I used good stainless steel pots with these. The finish came off and became "stains" on the pots. The "stains" are very hard to remove. Other than that, they are convenient and functional.

TIP: Use pots you don't care about for use with these exclusively [at least for the larger pot that will hold the water so the finish doesn't ruin the inside]--or purchase some cheap junk pots to use with this. This is what I should have done from the beginning and will do from now on.

Best Deals for Fox Run Double Boiler

I just finished using it for the first time. It worked perfectly. For about five bucks, I turned two pots I already owned into the double boiler I needed. And being about the size of a roll of duct tape, it saves me a lot of room in my tiny kitchen. It is very sturdy. I bet you could run over it with a car and it would still retain its shape.

You put the device in the bottom pot, which is full of water. Then you place the smaller pot with the food to be cooked on top of this device.

Perfect for those little jobs, like melting chocolate and butter. Fits and works as a double boiler.

I ordered this to replace a Bialetti stove-top maker. I have had it a couple of months and it is great. I saw some reviews about some machines within this price category being flimsy and unreliable. The Imusa is terrific. Easy to clean (Bialetti was awful!), and makes up to a quad in under 5 minutes. It is lightweight, but sturdy; and makes thick rich foam, even with skim milk. I am a former chef and have had some fancy machines that cost thousands of dollars in my kitchens, Imusa gets it done for me at home. I even went back and ordered a second as a gift.

Adding on to this review: If you haven't been using your old espresso/cappuccino maker because it isn't easy, or a pain to clean up, then this is the machine for you.

I'm going to start out stating I am no barista.

But I love coffee and simply don't like paying $4+ a cup and inconveniencing myself in the morning making an out-of-the-way, time-consuming stop during my commute.

That said, this is my first espresso machine. As with many things I don't know if I'll ever use again, I purchase the absolute cheapest low-end model, and if I like it, I research and splurge (or ask Santa.) I feel I really lucked out with this machine since it cost half of other machines I was looking at, and it works. I followed the directions (and a youtube) and with some trial and error (actually only the first try was really bad) I am able to make espresso mocha's in the morning for my wife and I.

I've gotten so good at it that I can make two cups with ~2 shots each, a squirt of chocolate syrup each, about 10oz steamed milk, and clean it all up in under 10 minutes.

Notes and experiences about this machine:

-When you first receive the machine, fill and drain the machine numerous times with hot water (by filling and turning the entire machine upside down.) Mine had a bunch of metallic flakes inside the steam chamber left over from manufacturing. These could definately clog the machine or worse, end up in your espresso.

-Use mildly fine grounds and tamp softly. I wasn't getting any crema until I used a burr grinder on a medium-fine setting. This machine has NO control over the brew group pressure, so the only way to control extraction is with the grounds and tamping pressure. I was using too fine of grounds for the first week or two and was getting weak extraction. If tamped too hard the grounds overheat and the extraction is bitter. Ideally each shot should take 20 seconds.

-The control dial has a "dead zone" where steam continues to come out, but the boiler is off. It is between OFF and LOW STEAM settings. This allows you to safely release pressure in the boiler chamber when you're finished. Never leave the machine sit with pressure in it. The instructions don't mention anything about this 'hidden' setting, but you will find it and use it every time you use the machine for one reason or another.

-Tamping the grounds is important. At first I used my fingers. Then a spoon. Finally I got a tamper. All of them were effective but a tamper makes me feel like a pro and its definately the fastest/easiest. 50mm is a good fit. Not perfect, but good enough; in reality its probably a 51mm or 52mm.

-Don't use the rubber guard for the frothing wand. It's hard to clean. Not just hard, impossible. Also, if not removed and cleaned after every use, it will for sure trap bacteria; it obviously needs to be removed to clean your frothing wand, which you want to clean while its hot so stuff doesn't cake on it, defeating the entire purpose of protecting you from burns since you need to deal with the hot wand, anyway. Just throw this thing away.

-Clean it while its HOT. I rinse and wipe everything right after a session. The steam wand, grounds cup and locking cup, the collection cup and the waste tray all rinse clean with no soap when they're hot. The steam wand takes about 10-15 seconds of wiping to get milk residue off; everything else takes a few seconds.

Best Deals for IMUSA GAU-18200 Elecric Espresso / Cappuccino Maker with Milk

For the money, this is one great little machine. It heats quickly, foams the milk easily and promptly, is easy to clean up, and looks cute on the counter. This is our fourth (and least expensive) cappuccino maker it is also the best.

Honest reviews on IMUSA GAU-18200 Elecric Espresso / Cappuccino Maker with Milk

Especially for the money, this is a great little espresso machine! I've never had an electric espresso machine before. I have several manual espresso makers but no way to easily froth hot milk so I ordered this one. I received it yesterday and made a wonderful latte last night for the first time in my life! It's easy to use, looks cool and has a small footprint so it's great in a small space. (It did not say anywhere to remove the soft black plastic 'cover' on the steaming rod but I did...I don't want ANY plastic of any kind near my food, especially steaming hot plastic. I'm assuming you remove it else there's no way to clean the rod...) It's a perfect 'treat yourself' gift to yourself when you know you deserve it!

If anything goes awry, I'll certainly update this review but I feel good about it and it works just like I've seen my daughter's much more expensive coffe/espresso/cappuccino maker. I'd NEVER consume name brand commercial coffe store, overly sweetened and overly fat and chemical ladened products, and I cringe when I see so many people putting that inside their bodies, but if I were one of those people, this would pay for itself within a week! (Can you tell I'm a cancer survivor and that I want to keep it that way!)

The metal water basin contains lead. I recently purchased this espresso maker and at first really liked it as it does the job, and I made delicious decaf lattes with it. The plastic on the outside is number 5 which is considered generally safe, but I was unsure about the metal used on the inside. I recently bought some lead test kits and decided to test the metal on the inside of the opening where you pour the water in. I highly doubted that it would be positive, because who would put lead in a machine that makes beverages especially that part that holds the water you drink?!!! But, because I am pregnant, I decided to check it just in case. Anyhow the test turned red which means it has a dangerous level of LEAD! I am so angry that they have this product on the market. Not only did they put lead in my body and my babies body, they are poisoning everybody who uses it. I already drank 3 lattes using this machine before my lead tests arrived in the mail. Amazon, please do not sell this product.

I love global knives. LOVE THEM. So I was excited the moment I saw this "tomato knife" and ordered it STAT. It's solid and cuts well, but for most tomatoes the blade is not long enough...if you use it for smaller items it works great but if you want to cut anything beyond a medium-sized tomato, I'd recommend the 6-inch Global serrated knife. So my review is not about quality, it's about utility. And when it comes to utility, this knife comes up a little short.

So far, I have been happy with other pots and pans of this set so I ordered the 8 qt. piece. The package this pot came in was undamaged so there was no problem during shipping. Yet, the lid/cover does not fit on it. Inspecting the pot, I found that the pot is not round. The diameter across the top where the handles are is almost 1/4" less than when I measure the top 90 degrees from the handles. The top of the pot is slightly oval. I measured the lid and it is perfectly round. At first I wondered if this was intended so steam could be released. But the user's guide says that the cover fits tightly to lock in flavor. The pot is just defective. I will revise this review when and if I can get this defective pot replaced. As I have said, I own the other pots and pans of this set and I love them.

Edit note my replacement came in and it fit fine. However, now one of the lids on my other pots (same brand and type) no longer fits correctly. I have not exposed the cookware to very high heat nor has it been dropped. All of the cookware it still fairly new and looks like new. But apparently this set can get out of round easily. Otherwise, its a great set. I would give the type of cookware 5 stars except that it won't stay round. I do lay the cookware upside down on a towel (gently) if it is hand washed to allow it to drain dry but I don't stack anything on top of it. There is no reason this cookware should not stay round and that the lids should not remain fitting snug. Also, there is no heat protection on the lid handle. The pot handles don't get very hot but care must be taken when removing the lid while food is cooking or one can get burned.

This is wider and therefore, lower than other pots, so it's no problem to fit on the fridge shelves. The aluminum is not as heavy as my 10 year old Technique from QVC, but I can't get that any more so this is a pretty good replacement.

This is a nice looking pan, and a handy size. Unfortunately, the bottom is real slippery, and the lid doesn't fit tight enough. We have ceramic grates on the stove, and this pan literally slips around on it. The pan is new, but I won't be using it for soups or boiling liquid...too dangerous. This is a lawsuit in the making.

This posting follows my earlier review of a different 18/0 flatware set. I found the Rose Elegance pattern quite detailed (more so than is revealed by the photo posted with this listing) and attractive, although there were trade-offs made to achieve the relatively low price point, see below.

The most common specification for stainless steel flatware is 18/10. The 18 refers to the chromium content and the 10 to the nickel content. Although not listed in the "technical details" at the time of this review, Rogers Co. Rose Elegance sets are manufactured using 18/0 stainless steel to keep costs down. However, 18/0 stainless steel has 0% nickel content, and consequently is less resistant to pitting and corrosion.

18/0 stainless steel is known as ferritic steel as it, like pure iron, is magnetically attracted (a quick test for less expensive stainless). This is opposed to 18/10, which is called austenitic stainless steel and is not, or only weakly, magnetically attracted. For practical purposes chromium/nickel, 18/10 and 18/8, steels are essentially identical. Because of its superior properties, over 2/3rds of all stainless steel produced is austenitic.

The greater the nickel composition the better the protection against pitting and corrosion, but the higher the cost. This is one of the reasons prices for flatware vary so significantly. Also note that 18/0 flatware is often finished to a lower standard than higher nickel content stainless steel to further reduce manufacturing costs. Even on a quite cursory examination, my 18/0 flatware does not look quite as good as my higher quality stainless steel flatware. However, unless you need that extra increment of appearance obtained with 18/10 stainless, this set will serve well for every day use.

The reviews here have some that say, "Wonderful tri-ply construction" (like Amazon's description as of Nov 2012) and a couple that dispute it. Well three days before Black Friday I emailed Calphalon customer service to get an answer whether this was the same stockpot that they sell separately as the Contemporary Stainless 8qt stockpot. Their email back on Black Friday itself said only, "They have different model numbers." That was helpful! I stared at the pictures on-line and noticed that the base of this one was obscured in the photo. So I took a chance with a great Black Friday coupon and bought this. I feel ripped off. I am staring at the box itself of the multipot next to the boxes from others in this line. The other boxes say tri-ply and this one only says "aluminum bottom" -yes, it's a cheapo stockpot with a disc bottom, like the 20 dollar stockpots. It is not like the triply stockpot sold without the inserts. I cannot return it because it would invalidate the terms of the coupon and the bonus set -I would be charged more to return it than it costs.

It is a low quality pot. Avoid it.

FOLLOWUP:

Having now bought individually the 8qt stockpot (which is also the one that comes in the sets) that comes without the inserts, I am sorry to find that the steamer and pasta inserts of the multipot do NOT fit the standard 8 qt stockpot of this line. Thought others would want to know that.

With a budget of only $100, I was torn between getting a 12-qt. Cuisinart or this 8-qt. Calphalon. I first went with the Cuisinart but returned it because the strainer had black metal residues within the holes, and felt flimsy. I tried to wash the residues out but didn't want the chance of it coming back during cooking.

My purchase of the Calphalon Contemporary was immediately met with amazement because of its beauty. It looks and feels so much sturdier than the Cuisinart, and the 8-qt. fits my cooking needs. We only cook a 1-pound package of spaghetti each time, so this is the perfect size. The 12-qt. could have easily cooked 2 packages at a time, but how many times are we going to cook for a party of 10? Hardly. By the way, the spaghetti package directs us to use 4 qts of water per package.

Lastly, I believe that everyone who owns stainless steel ccokware needs to always have some BARKEEPER'S FRIEND cleanser and polisher in their immediate vicinity. Amazon sells it, but holds it hostage unless you pay an additional $5 for shipping. I found mine for $1.50 at Wal-Mart, right next to the Ajax and Comet products. BF is going to get all the stains out and keep your cookware looking clean as new. I have saved my mom's beyond-burnt pot with BF. (Be sure to coat the stained area with a mix of water and BF for about an hour ahead of time for better results). Oh, and of course, stay away from the metal utensils and harsh brillo pads too.

Overall, the other reviewers have pointed out that this is a bottom-only aluminum construction. Yes, and that's why you won't be paying $300-plus. But I would like to mention also, that the encapsulated aluminum bottom is on the outside. I was concerned that the "seam" would somehow leak later, but that's not the case here. The pot itself is a one-piece. So for the price, I give this a 5-star rating for it's perfect size and sturdy construction.

Best Deals for Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 8-qt. Multi Pot

This is pretty but not well made. The biggest complaint is that the rivets are corroding on the inside. You shouldn't have to worry about that in an "all stainless steel" pot, but the rivets aren't made of stainless steel, so you get galvanic corrosion (dissolving) and consequently who-knows-what kind of metal in your food.

Honest reviews on Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 8-qt. Multi Pot

I thought that being Calphalon and costing $93, I would get a quality product. Not even close! The two perforated containers that sit inside are tinny and both stained after the very first use. They are discolored and look terrible. While the pot and lid seemed to be of good quality, the pot did not hold up past the second use. It has stains inside from where the water level was even after I scrubbed it with cleanser. There are also white spots on the bottom of the pan that look like calcification, but can't be scrubbed off; they may even be corrosion in the pot itself considering how hard I've tried to get them off. Then to top it all off....after about four uses cooking artichokes, the entire inside of the pot is tinted green. Also, in case anyone is wondering, I've never let the water boil down very far and have been very careful with how I care for the pot.

The only good thing is that it is a nice looking pot from the outside.

This 8-Quart pan is a very nice. I used to have a "non-stick / 99 year warantee" stock pot of the same size, but the coating came off into my cooking -ick! This stainless cleans up easily, is dishwasher safe, and fits into the dishwasher. The tri-ply technology (aluminum inside, going up the sides) really does seem to help. I've found this pan better than the non-stick coating pans for not sticking, as long as you (1) let food warm to room temperature for 10 to 20 minutes or by warming in water, and (2) pre-heat the pan according to the manufacturor's directions. Though, sticking is seldom problematic for soup. Perfect size for a batch of vegetable soup or chicken stock. Comes with two free inserts, one for pasta and the other smaller, perhaps for use as a strainer. The shape & handles are elegant, and the glass lid really helpful for glancing over to make sure your stock/soup doesn't simmer dry. Highly recommended.
