My All-Clad pans have long handles that stay cool, but the small lid handles get hot. These rubber gadgets fit tightly over those lid handles (and small side handles on stock pots) and allow you to handle them without potholders. While you can take the covers off for use on other lids, it's better to have several and just leave them on all the time. They happily travel through the dishwasher still attached to the handle and don't have to be removed at all.

I found myself using the same two lids all the time because they had these cool touch handle covers on them, but finally decided what I really needed to do was get more. I had to do some searching, but finally found them. I can't recommend them highly enough.

These probably would cost $2 if you found them in a dollar store, but I don't get out much and added them to an order that qualified for free shipping.

They will fit handles from about 3/8" to 5/8". they aren't any good for 1/4" wire-like pot lids or side handles.

They are just the ticket for all-clad type pot lids and handles. I use them on a tri-ply Tremontina stock pot.

Best Deals for JAZ Innovations Cool Touch Lid Handle Cover

Simple things these rubber covers yet I love them because hot side handles and hot lids are a big thing when I'm cooking and have lost my pot holders in the mess I just created or when I can't seem to find my pot holders even when they are in plain sight. These covers are not flimsy and you just slide them on they stay put and you just leave them on and forget them just wash the pots and lids by hand like normal. The only thing wrong with these covers for meis that they are too big or my pot handles and lid handles are smaller than normal. I am okay with this because they still do the job I'm just glad not to burn my hand or food. I plan on buying more of these as they come 3 to a package.

Honest reviews on JAZ Innovations Cool Touch Lid Handle Cover

It is an good idea, and I am glad I found these covers, but unfortunatly they do not fit propper and move around my stanless steel lid handles, even when I have a tight grip on them. I have to be very careful that the lid do not flip on me, and still burn me. I wish they would fit tigher.

Have calphalon pots and pans and these handles fit perfectly on the covers so that I don't have to use a pot holder to pick up the covers. Is exactly what I needed.

Review of Staub Round Cocotte 8-7/8 Quart

Staub 8-Quart Round Cocotte, Grenadine
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I purchased this pot a few months back and it is probably the best I ownand I have tried to buy quality kitchenware. It is the first pot I reach for when making my family's favorite pilaf, or any other rice dish for that matter. Rice turns out perfectly every time. It can't be beat for soups and stews or other dishes that need to cook slowly over a long period of time. I've never had anything burn or stick to this pan. Love the nubs on the lid that drop moisture back into the pot and it's stylish enough to place directly on the table (with a heavy pad or thick wooden board underneath it of course!) The only drawback (expected) is the weight, which gave me problems when I dislocated my shoulder, but hubby and sons gladly did the lifting for me until I could manage myself. If I ever had to get rid of all my other cookware and chose only 3 or 4 pans, I'd choose this one first.

Beautifully crafted dutch oven from France on par with the Le Creuset cast iron pots but with a better, richer color and the self-basting lid. Matte black porcelain interior finish less likely to be marred by cooking and stirring. Overall an excellent value for a serious piece of cooking equipment.

Best Deals for Staub Round Cocotte 8-7/8 Quart

My wife and I now own three sizes of Staub Cocottes, 2.5 qt., 5 qt., and 8 qt. These are absolutely fantastic for anything from baked beans to pot roast with potatos and carrots. The features we like:

First and foremost is the metal knob on the lid. Before we had the Staub, my wife cooked pot roast in a stainless steel pot with plastic (phenolic) handles. A few times in the oven and the handles look like they're 100 years old. I have worked in the plastic industry for over 35 years and even at temperatures approaching 350 to 400 degrees F there will be eventual damage to the appearance (blisters) and structural integraty of the plastic knob, they will not however, as some have stated, melt. La Creuset sells a metal knob as a replacement, but why not just get a metal knob from the beginning?

Secondly, those little nibs on the underside of the lid, seem to do a great job of keeping everything moist. The pot roast turned out the best it's ever tasted, and my wife has been cooking this for many years. It's a great feature and one that many lower cost Dutch Ovens have coppied to some degree.

The black matt enameled interior is another great feature. It cleans easily and doesn't show any stains from cooking. I believe this is particularly important if you intend to use your baking dish as your serving dish.

Lastly, the colors of the Staub cocotte are in our opinion much more attractive. This is a matter of personal taste, but we like the deep rich grenadine color with it's translucent qualities far better than the opaque reds of competive products. We also favor the other Staub colors to those of the competion.

We have been extremely pleased with our Staub purchases and unlike the low priced stuff, this is not made in China where you have to be concerned about what you're cooking in, cadmium, lead, etc.

Honest reviews on Staub Round Cocotte 8-7/8 Quart

I've owned Le Crueset pots before, and while they are wonderful, I fell in deep lust with this Staub 8qt in Grenadine while browsing at Sur La Table one day. I held out for a long time, but with a recent amazon gift card windfall for my birthday decided to go ahead and splurge. I love this pot, cooked steak soup, white bean soup and a roast in the past week and they all tasted 10x better than they normally do. This is my favorite kitchen item and I have a feeling this will be come my go to pot for everything from boiling potatoes to making slow braised ribs. If you are thinking about purchasing this, don't hesitate like I did = wishing I'd bought it years ago!

I love love love my Staub enameled cast iron pot! I bought mine at a retail store that was discontinuing the sunflower color and I got a great deal on it. I used it for the first time today and I am very pleased. I would not want to go larger or it wouldn't fit in my sink to clean. This size gives me a lot of versatility. I just cooked 3.5 pounds of braised short ribs with veggies and potatoes. I only used salt and pepper. When they came out they were the most delicious and moist! The lid really self bastes and there are no drips when you open up the pot. You don't have to be exact with the timing. Also, you should cook at lower temperatures because the pot retains heat so well.

I could have fit more in the pot or maybe less. It is 2 nights dinner for 2 small adults and 2 toddlers. This is the perfect size if you ever plan on cooking for the holidays or roasting a chicken, etc. I do plan on getting a 4 quart, but this can be used for most things. For leftovers, just put in the fridge and reheat on the stove top.

This is one heavy beast, but me (105lb) have no trouble lifting it full. You must be careful removing anything hot from the oven. Did I mention it is absolutely gorgeous! I ordered a Le Creuset and ended up returning it. It seemed like half the pot of the Staub. The LC was thinner and the lid didn't seal very well. The handles were smaller and the pot wasn't as beautiful. There were way too many irregularities in the enamel as well.

I wanted to like the LC, but I have been converted. My husband saw it as well and he liked this one much more.

I've used this open fire grill for several years and I am still very pleased. Price is great, easy to use, ample grilling surface, light weight and easy to store when folded flat. I do place foil over the top when grilling (my preference) but it is also sturdy enough for pots and pans. Well worth the money...what a bargin. Very helpful while camping or just grilling over the firepit out back. I will be buying another one in case something happens to the one I purchased several years ago. Happy grilling to you and yours.

For what it is, it is way over priced. My husband knowing I prefer All Clad stainless cookware bought this for me from the Williams-Sonoma website for $112.00, but sad to say, the quality, fit and finish are of much lessor quality than my older All Clad pots and pans that were all manufactured in the USA.

My friend has a 4 piece set of the Excelsteel 8 Quart, 18/10 Stainless Steel brand that she paid less than $35.00 for and it is made in China, and her brand and my All Clad brand have the same quality, weight, and finish.

The All Clad brand for me now is just another cheap Chinese made piece of deficient cookware that has finally followed all of the other, what used to be USA manufactured, top quality kitchenware, into the abyss of junk.

I have used many pasta pots and found this pot to be of the best quality yet. The Pot has a heavy clad bottom for perfect distribution of heat with the remainder consisting of high quality stainless steel and heavy duty handles. The insert is also high quality stainless steel mesh supported by stainless steel framework. This mesh is considerably easier to clean than those inserts which are made by a series of holes. I have already used this pot for pasta and soups many times and just love it. The ladle is also heavy duty polished stainless steel and which is also of great quality.

I bought this Dutch Oven in orange and the color is absolutely beautiful. Everything I cook in this pot heats evenly, and clean up is very easy for all of the one-pot meals we use it for.

It looks great sitting out on my stove and I know will be a family staple for decades to come. Don't be tempted by knock off Dutch Ovens, they are made in mass & do not even compare to the quality of Lava's cookware.

I wrote the Swiss Diamond company and asked for an explanation of what the nano-composite material was made of.

After a week or so, I received a polite reply from Allan Wolk, an employee in the U.S. His email informed me that, "Our patented nonstick surface uses a nano-composite of real diamond crystals and PTFE; it is applied using a computer controlled plasma gun at very high temperatures."

Naturally, my attention was immediately drawn to the PTFE. The acronym sounded familiar. What was PTFE?

A quick search of Wikipedia provided the answer: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PTFE)

As Wikipedia explains:

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a fluoropolymer discovered by Roy J. Plunkett (1910-1994) of DuPont in 1938. It was introduced as a commercial product in 1946 and is generally known to the public by DuPont's brand name Teflon®.

Huh? Teflon? Wait a minute. Didn't the Swiss Diamond website just claim that the product contained no Teflon?

If you look back at the Swiss Diamond website screen capture, the careful wording of their answer now becomes clear. It states, "The Swiss Diamond coating does not contain any Teflon taking into consideration that "Teflon" is a trade mark, made and owned by DUPONT."

So the pans don't contain Teflon, they just contain the chemical called Teflon. It's like saying a nuclear warhead doesn't contain any plutonium, it only contains nuclear fissionable material.

For the manufacturer to insist the Swiss Diamond pans contain no Teflon whatsoever when it is made primarily from polytetrafluoroethylene, the chemical widely known as Teflon, is extremely deceptive. In fact, the intent of the Swiss Diamond company seems to be to deceive consumers by omission of the facts. The FAQ document on the Swiss Diamond website, for example, does not bother to say something like, "But our pans do contain PTFE, the chemical known as Teflon." It simply insists they contain no Teflon and moves on to the next question.

It seems that Swiss Diamond goes out of its way to give the impression that this product is free of Teflon chemicals and is surfaced primarily with diamonds. That's the impression I got, anyway, and I read the promotional materials several times before purchasing the pan.

Consumers have been hoodwinked yet again.

I decided to try Swiss Diamond, and started with a covered 10" skillet. It convinced me to get more-I can reheat meat cooked on the grill and it tastes as good as the first time! Considered ordering the 10-piece set, but wasn't sure I wanted all those pieces, so have started accumulating a custom set for my cooking needs. This small set was a good price and the sizes will work well for everyday cooking for 2-3 people. Ordered some larger pieces for when the family comes home.

Best Deals for Swiss Diamond 3 Piece Set: Fry Pan and Saucepan

I never imagined I would end up spending close to $200 on a skillet and a little saucepan. However, after purchasing another grocery store (read economical, i.e. cheap) non-stick pan for what felt like the umpteenth time, I figured at this point I had already spent more than $100 over the years.

Great decision; on occasion we should congratulate ourselves on our choices!

While I'm not a phenomenal cook or someone who loves to cook, I do enjoy doing so once in a while. And cooking with such quality products are a joy. They have a great heft (feel as if they could be passed down to the grand-kids) and clean up phenomenally well.

These are top rated brand of cookware on Consumer Reports and its clear why!

The CBO-1000 is very handy. I'm no cook, but within a few days of ownership I've made hamburgers, jalapeno-cheese cornbead and shish kebab. It is easy to clean, heats up quickly and doesn't take up much space. I would wholeheartedly recommend it as a countertop cooking appliance that does a lot.

However, I have one complaint and it's significant. The knob on the right that turns the unit on and also serves as a timer seems to have melted so that it no longer engages the stem. I can do all the same functions by sticking a screwdriver into a slot in the stem and twisting, but I definitely have a product that failed on the third round of cooking.

I hope Cuisinart will consider this problem and provide purchasers with knobs that don't succumb to the heat. I am in no way recommending that consumers substitute a screwdriver for the knob. IT MIGHT BE DANGEROUS. Consumers shouldn't have to jury-rig a device that costs $129 and fails in three rounds of cooking.

I'd give this four or maybe five stars if the knob hadn't failed.

I purchased this through Amazon.

---

I called Cuisinart'ss telephone support line and the customer service representative abruptly hung up on me. The serial number on the product is very difficult to read. I was trying to give her the serial number when cut me off. I hope this is not a reflection on the company's products and customer care.

Best Deals for Cuisinart CBO-1000 Oven Central Countertop Oven, Brushed Stainless

To start out, I'd really rather have a nice countertop oven, which I used to have and used constantly. But now we are living full time in our RV, and I just really don't have a place for a countertop oven, not a place that really works. While browsing around looking for one that might work, I came across this unique appliance, and after some thought, ordered it. It truly is multipurpose and versatile, and perfect for one or two people (we are a couple). It wouldn't hold enough for a larger family. It preheats very quickly and won't warm up your kitchen. I have used it for cakes, small loaves of yeast bread, muffins, biscuits, brownies, cookies (4 at a time), coffee cake, pancakes, quesadillas, baked chicken (pieces), hamburgers, braised chops, browning things for my little slow cooker, eggs, small (single serving) pizzas, eggs, casseroles, and I don't know what all else. The only part of the appliance I haven't yet tried is the kebab setup. I store it in my rv stove oven (which I hardly use anymore). I am very pleased with the baked goods, which I didn't like heating up the rv oven for, when we just need such small quantities. The crust on the baked goods is perfectly acceptable for my purposes, but it bakes a little moister than a conventional, or a countertop, oven and so food isn't quite as crisp. The tops aren't quite as brown as they would be from another type of oven. Same goes for the baked chicken-not quite as crispy. I think it's because it's such a tight space in there and nowhere for the moisture to go. Which means that baked goods aren't dried out, at least! There is talk in the reviews of toasting. I haven't tried non-contact toasting and imagine it wouldn't work very well, because of the reduced browning I've mentioned, but what I do is what I did before I got this appliance. I don't have a toaster in the rv (space) and have been making toast by laying the bread in a dry skillet until browned, then turning and repeating. That works just fine in this appliance. The only hard part of cleaning it is if you have used the skillet part, which is built in. I usually end up holding the entire appliance under the faucet to rinse out the main cavity, being careful, of course, not to get the rest of the appliance wet, and then turning it to pour out the water. A little awkward. Kind of like cleaning a contact grill that does not have removable plates. The pan insert finish is holding up beautifully, but I am holding my breath about the nonstick finish in the main skillet part. I only own nylon and silicone tools and am super careful, but I am already seeing more wear than I would like to. No peeling or anything, but I'm not entirely confident. Despite that, if I could only own one cooking appliance (besides the stove itself), this might be it. And if I were traveling and wanted something to supplement the microwave that usually is available, this would be it.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart CBO-1000 Oven Central Countertop Oven, Brushed Stainless

I use this oven for everything! Don't know how I ever got along without it. It is the perfect size for one or two people and uses much less power than the big oven. I bake in it, steam fish and vegetables, make hashbrowns and eggs and also grill sandwiches.

Its so hot in Phoenix, but I want to continue to use my oven. While at Macy's last month, I was asking an employee about a convention oven and see just suggested a tiny oven (like an adult easy bake!) It was on sale and I took it home. Needless to say, I use it almost every day. Same oven settings but it gets hotter faster and cooks a little faster. Like my crock pot, I set it on top of the stove or a large trivet to protect the counter-tops. You can cook anything from muffins to meatloaf in this thing I love it!

We ordered this set to add on to an existing mish mash of pots and pans we've had for years. The hope was that we could toss some of the older pans out.

Strong Points: Great coating, the food literally slides off with little effort. Inclusion of a couple tools is a nice touch (though not sure it's worth paying more for, as the tools probably retail for a dollar or two). Heating distribution is even, and so it cooks effectively.

Weak Points: Small. It's hard at times to convert 8" pot into a visual, especially when the pictures show things that look bigger. A few of the pans are suitable for children, but not big enough to cook something for a single adult.

Overall, the product appears well made, but I would go to a more expensive set with a larger selection of pots and pans if I was going to use these as my primary cooking utensils.

...you realize that the "X5" isn't a model number, unless you plan on wearing this out quickly or you have four friends that you need odd stocking stuffers for, because otherwise you'll be annoyed to find out it means "times five". I gave this a neutral rating (because you have to give one) but this is a comment, not a review of the product. I have been living in Russia for the past 7 years for work; they have blini's here which is the same thing as a crepe (as far as I'm concerned). Anyway, I have never seen them (Russian's) make blini's (crepes) with a tool like this. They have fast food type places here that sell blini's and you see them making them out in the open. They have them in the malls, and even little huts on the street; so I see this almost every day. Anyway, the tool they use to form the blini is similar to this, but rather than the front end being flat, it's round (like the handle of this one, only a little larger in diameter). My intuition tells me that the design shown here would cause the batter to pile up on the flat side (maybe even roll over the top, creating a mess); the round ones help to redistribute the batter (I think). I'm sure the design shown here can work but I it probably takes more practice than the round ones. You can find one like I have described on Amazon if you search using the word "Blini", but the seller wants like $9 bucks for it plus $4 for shipping (not Prime eligible)... pretty steep for a couple pieces of dowel rod stuck together.

Best Deals for Paderno World Cuisine 7 Inch T-Shaped Wood X5 T Crepe Spreader

Reading the reviews I see that there are mixed feelings about this crepe stick; some love it, some couldn't get it to work, one person hasn't used it but doesn't think it would work. As a pastry chef, I have worked a crepe station every day for a good year now, always with the T shaped spreader. Got decent results, pretty good results. One day the manager gets this other kind of stick. Huh. It dragged in the batter, made a mess...I didn't care for it but didn't want it to get the best of me. So I went on YouTube, and saw all these people using this product to make bigger, badder crepes than I was able to make with my old T stick. So I gave it another chance. With an hours practice, my crepes were better than ever! Bigger rounder thinner, more uniform in thickness--all this with the same quantity of batter. Better quality. You have to hold it at a different angle, and you have to move it a little faster, but the results are worth it!! I think it's worth the higher price and I hope they sell it in a metal version. (The wooden ones warp after a while.)

Honest reviews on Paderno World Cuisine 7 Inch T-Shaped Wood X5 T Crepe Spreader

Because I have 3 KitchenAid Food Processors different sizes, different homes, when I need to buy a gift and I see it on a registry for someone, it it always my goto gift. My oldest FP is now more than 15 years old and it gets constant use still. After all this time, the bowl is a bit nicked up but the blades are as sharp as ever and I couldn't manage without it. The 9-cup FP is a big workhorse and one I would absolutely recommend to anyone who cooks. It does quantity in a hurry and it doesn't have all those goofy pieces that are permanent attachments to some FPs. It is heavy duty yet doesn't have a scream or squeal to it, which is definitely appreciated if cooking with several people or entertaining while you cook. Buy it, you can't go wrong.

I just bought this (at a local membership-club store) for $99. I LOVE it. The engineers have thought of everything for this food processor. It has a large bowl and a small bowl. The food pusher is a 3-in-1. There are even seals on the bowls. It snaps easily in place. I ground over 10 lbs of chicken with it yesterday. It was AWESOME. Considerably lighter weight to lift, as well. In addition, KitchenAid has a 1-year "no hassle" return policy.

Gift for my daughter she specifically requested this make and model, and she wasn't disappointed. Perfect for processing lots of vegetables and fruits for canning and freezing.

I got this to replace my well-used, almost-20-year-old Cuisinart 7-cup model, and I certainly haven't been disappointed! This one is very powerful and much quieter, and has a very sturdy feel to it. I really like the mini bowl for things like mayonnaise and salad dressings. Would definitely recommend this product!

I bought myself this food processor after my previouse blender/chopper combo died (after 12 years of use). I had a hard time deciding which brand/model to get. I looked at several models ranging in price. I really wanted to the shredding/grating disc and plenty of power.

I found this model at Sam's Club for $89.99, so I figured I would try it! I love it! I've used it several times now with no problems. Reading the instructions provides plenty of explainations and helpful tips.

It is a large size, but I don't find that to be a problem. Especially when cooking for the family. I like to prepare food for multiple days at one time and this food processor really has helped cut down my time.

Clean up is easy. I made some hummus the other day it I was doubtful, but I just put some warm water and a little soap and swirled on high and I was good to go.

As a professional chef, I was looking to update my cookware. I have had a set of Calphalon hard anodized that have been great, but nonetheless I wanted to upgrade. I was debating between All-Clad, Demeyere, and Royal Doulton. I have a new 12 inch All-Clad Stainless pan, so I bought one of the Royal Doulton 12" stainless to put it up against it.

First the overall impressions. The AC (All-Clad) was a fair amount lighter than the RD (Royal Doulton) pan. Both are tri-ply throughout with aluminum between the steel. From a design standpoint, I prefer the angled sides of the RD as opposed to the sloped sides seen in most other pans. The RD pans also were much shinier than the AC pan was. As far as size, the AC pan was a tad roomier. I assume this is due to RD's original measurements being in metric form. The handle of the RD pan was preferable to the AC's. From what I've heard, this is a fairly common complaint with All-Clad, albeit the only consistent one I've heard.

Now for performance. Both pans placed under a medium flame heated to searing heat within about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. The RD was a tad hotter, but not enough at that point to make a difference. Where there was a difference was in carmelization and fond development. The RD gave a much nicer color to the chicken than the AC, and the fond output was a bit higher with better color. After deglazing, the AC did clean up slightly better than the RD did with soap and water. After cleaning again with Barkeepers Friend, both pans had their orriginal luster, save for some slight marking on the bottom of the RD pan from the flames.

Overall I found the RD to be of just as good quality as the AC, and for a bit less in price. The RD pans are made in China whereas the AC pans are made in the USA. So depending on where you stand with that in mind will decide for you.

I don't use this super often, but when I do, The quality is always impressive. It's Heavy, gets hot quickly, and cooks evenly. Cleaning is really easy with barkeeper's friend. It also sits even on my electric ceramic stove and is well balanced, unlike most of my older pans.

I wanted to upgrade my small fry pan which is the size that I use most often. After reading the reviews I decided on this one, and I love it. It cooks wonderfully and is so easy to clean.

Loved the quality of the finish, the weight of the cookware and the easy cleanup. It's great for roasting seeds and nuts and cooking everything I throw at it. Sadly, I have an electric stove and this pan does not sit level on the level burner without tipping toward the handle. ugggg..It's so frustrating. I have to prop something under the pan while I'm heating.

This is very good pan for daily use. The most I liked about this is that it heats up very fast, and great for searing the steak, chickens and fish. With stainless steel handle and body, you can put in the oven without worrying about damaging it.

As with any stainless steel, clean up is usually a breeze. However, sometimes it leaves white marker on the bottom. But with few rub of Bar Keepers Friend® Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZ cleaner, it is as good as new. Good clean up also make food difficult to stick. The best way to make it non stick is to heat up the pan well first, and spray a little oil with Misto M100S Gourmet Brushed Aluminum Olive Oil Sprayer or Pam, and then start cooking.

I use this daily, not only for searing the food, but also for stir fry, making pancake, scrabbled eggs, and everything else. It's un-destructible with its solid build.

The only thing I don't like about it is it's lip. When you pour things out, the juice tend to drip to the side. Wiping with paper towel will remedy it.

Overall, I like this a lot. It's a good value that last forever. I will never go back to Teflon non-stick pan again.
