I've been a big fan of Calphalon products for years, they're built like tanks. As long as you're careful with the non-stick coating, these pots should work for a lifetime.

Purchased this model specifically for the pouring notches. With the cut-outs on the lid, this design works perfectly. And the cut-outs are centered with the direction of the handle, so you always know where they are, you can keep them closed to keep the inside sealed for heating, or turn them 90 degrees to vent/pour.

Highly recommended.

This is my 7th Calphalon purchase and I'm hooked. Their pans are incredible, well made and easy to clean. This pan is thick, keeping a very uniform temperature and cooking everything just right. It's really nonstick, allowing me to decrease the amount of oil in my recipes, which is healthier. I love that it has the pour and strain feature, so l can use it for a lot of things: pasta, broths and sauces. It's very practical.

The pour spouts and straining holes in the lid are fantastic! No more trying to strain my noodles and hoping I don't move the lid too far and lose them down the drain! I would defniitely recomment this pan. The only small drawback is that it is kind of heavy, like most of Calphalon's pans.

Honest reviews on Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 3.5-qt. Pour and Strain Sauce Pan

Bought this piece for my wife to use on our gas range. Our old stainless cookware had handles that would get so hot you couldn't pick them up without a pot holder. These handles stay much cooler. The nonstick coating is great, and the strainer built into the lid is great for boiling vegetables, pasta, etc.

I was looking for a larger sauce pan than came with my Calphalon set. This sauce pan is perfect for cooking pasta or large quantities of vegetables. It is definitely not one that I use every day, but one that comes in handy. This is the same great quality as the pots I bought for a lot more money.

Wow! This cookware is absolutely beautiful and a joy to cook with. The quality is top notch, not thin or flimsy in any way. I wasn't sure about the cooking without at least a coating of nonstick cooking spray but cooked a 3" steak as my test run. It turned out perfect to my amazement!

This was my first experience with ceramic coated cookware. I was concerned that I stained them (I know that's impossible) when I made my homemade spaghetti sauce but cleanup was effortless. I can't say enough good things about this set of cookware. In fact, I was so WOWed, I bought the red set for my mother.

I am extremely pleased with this product. I had a 1.5 cup chopper that worked ok for very small amounts of food, but things like a large bell pepper, cut into finger sized pieces, would get tangled up and not cycle through the blades. This 3 cup chopped fits a lot more stuff in it's bowl, and so far, has worked perfectly for me. It is much easier to clean than a full sized food processor, and takes up a lot less space. Ideal for making small batches of guacamole, salsa, soup, stir fry, ect. It's noisier than my full sized food processor, but quieter than the cheapp 1.5 cup chopper I bought.

Buyer beware and take a very close look at the shape of this chopper. The blades are very small and the cylinger is much too tall. Hence, you get minced product in the bottom area and large chunks on top. I have to shake it to try and get even chopping, but it still doesn't help. I will need to find another with wider blades and better bowl to get the even cuts I like. It may work okay if you are doing 1/2 cup, but you may as well do it by hand if that's all you need.

I love this 3 cup food processor! I use this for my everyday family meal cooking. Very helpful in chopping carrots in small bits. I always add carrots or any vegetable to ground meats so that I can sneak some vegetables to my kid's meals. This chopper do a good job in chopping carrots that my kids dont even notice the veggy in their meatballs, burger, spaghettie sauce, etc... To get better results, I chop the carrots first into cubes and then toss them in this chopper and I do shake the chopper to get better results because it does not do a good job when you dont shake them. For the price of this chopper, I dont have complains and dont mind at all preping the carrots and shaking the chopper because I hate manually chopping hard raw carrots into tiny bits, it is very tedious and dangerous! I do have the very much expensive and 'state of the art' cuisineart food processor which I use very rarely because it takes a lot of time to set-up and clean afterwards. So for everyday-family meal-chopping chores, I will definitely recommend this. It's cheap, convenient, and very useful.

I tried using this once to chop bell peppers and celery and it turn into a juicy salsa, so not recommended if your NOT making salsa. But if you want salsa, this machine is great! My sister makes salsa and shrimp cocktails all the time and she uses this chopper all the time.

So definitely recommended. By the way, I had mine for three years already and it is still working!

Honest reviews on Hamilton Beach 72600 Food Chopper

I can't believe I wasted $20. As another reviewer remarked, the tower is far too tall. My onion is liquefied on the bottom and there are two huge chunks on the top. That was after I already cut it to one inch cubes.

I had an Oster blender with the chopper attachment and was heartbroken when it wore out. I'll be ordering another of those now.

Not impressed:

I bought this chopper to replace my B&D 2 speed that I had for 5 years. (the bottom of the container broke) I read good reviews on the Food Chopper and decided to purchase. The first time I used the product it turned my veggies into mush. I tried again on a slower speed and again soup. I tried small bursts of slow speed and still all squishy. I tried small bursts of fast and again mush. I tried different foods as well and it just didn't chop. I read the instructions, just in case operationn of a small chopper has changed in 20 years.

My B&D chopper would only turn the food into soup/mush if I made it that way by keeping the highest speed on for several minutes. It always chopped the food evenly too. Unfortunately, B&D doesn't make that model any more. I would not recommend this to anyone I know.

Unfortunately I waited to long to return the item (32 days) so I am stuck with the "soup-maker".

Love this American made cast iron skillet for one or two eggs. I make "Egg McMuffins" with this. It's also a great size to make a little frittata. Whatever you make will fit into a muffin or sandwich bread. I plan to make individual corn bread. I'm thinking of more things to make...I'm addicted!

I would advise everyone to buy the lid, that way things cook more evenly top and bottom.

The only thing is that I think you should still season it even though it says it's pre-seasoned. I had things stick so pre-season or use enough oil to prevent sticking.

A lot smaller than expected. 5" is for the top of it, but with the angled sides, the actual bottom is only 3.5".

Best Deals for Lodge L5MS3 Mini Skillet, 5-inch

This skillet is very small; You won't be able to cook much in it. The one advantage, is that it's perfectly shaped to make an egg for a breakfast sandwich, when used with the lid. Besides that, you could toast spices, melt butter, make an individual brownie, or reheat a single biscuit.

I respectfully disagree about being able to make a grilled cheese sandwich in this. You can't; It's too small.

I tried cooking 3 sausage links with this. Due to the small size, they ended up "deep frying" in their own grease, which I don't like. I'd recommend the 8 inch skillet for that purpose.

I was able to find another good use; roasting garlic cloves on the stovetop, using the lid. Peel the cloves, add olive oil, and cook for an hour or more on very low heat.

My conclusion is, if you want to roast garlic or make perfectly shaped eggs for breakfast sandwiches, get this skillet, and be sure to also purchase the lid for even top/bottom heating! Otherwise, get the 6 inch round, or 5 inch square wonder skillet, which actually has more cooking area and you CAN cook a grilled cheese sandwich. I wish Lodge made a lid for those!

I found another use for this skillet today. There was a recipe that called for a 1/2 egg. So what to do with the other half? Cook it in this skillet and give it to the dog as a treat. Similarly, what do you do when your package of steak includes a very tiny strip, too small for the grill? Cook it in this skillet for the dog.

Honest reviews on Lodge L5MS3 Mini Skillet, 5-inch

I recently went on a cast iron binge, to replace all of my aging non-stick teflon pots and pans. Bought a bunch of Lodge cast iron, including this Lodge Logic 5 inch mini skillet.

I wanted something that I could melt butter in on the stove, or cook a single egg in, and use for other really tiny jobs. I looked at the 14 oz melting pot, but based on feedback, it didn't sound like it would sit very well on my electric stove. So, I opted for this, along with the 5 inch lid.

It's great. I've used it to melt butter for making pancakes, etc., rather than nuking it in the microwave. It works great for cooking a single egg. Note: if you haven't mastered flipping an egg without a spatula, restaurant-style, you might hate trying to fry an egg in it. It might be be nigh unto impossible to get a spatula under the egg.

These would also be great as individual serving "dishes". I am planning to buy a couple more for that purpose. I am also going to take this camping with me in a week. It's perfect for those little oddball things. It would make a great spoon rest, too.

But note....it is REALLY small. I believe someone else pointed out that the 5 inches is the measurement across the top. It is about 3.25 to 3.5 across the bottom. It's smaller than you think. If you need to cook two eggs, or want to fry a single hamburger, you want something larger.

Did I mention that it is VERY cute? It would make a cool decorative item for a cabin or rustic/country kitchen. I am quite entertained by it. :)

I specifically purchased these skillets for the purpose of making the half-baked cookie desserts, Pizookies (if you have never heard of that, you are missing out!

Seriously, Pizookies are absolutely the best dessert ever and these skillets cook them perfectly! I plan to purchase more so that I can entertain larger parties. The way I like to make these is to just make plain cookie dough, and then set out chips and nuts for people to build their own. Then I bake them at 475 degrees for about 6-8 minutes and then serve with a scoop of ice cream on top (also, you might want to serve the actual skillet on a plate with a pot holder over the handle for obvious reasons).

These skillets really are a perfect size for the dessert and I've used them about dozen times now with no signs of degrading whatsoever (although, I'm careful to follow the cleaning instructions).

I specifically wanted the double loop handles which are easier to fit on my apartment stove, plus easier to lift with my arthritis. I was concerned by the somewhat light gauge of the sidewalls, but they haven't been a problem. They're thinner than heavier high end pans. But surprisingly, they're about the same as my 30 year old Cuisinart stainless. The heavy base provides even temps on the stove top. The all metal and glass construction allows use in the oven. They clean easily if you soak crusty stuff first. After a year of use, the mirror finish still looks new, but there are a few scrape marks inside the pans.

I would definitely recommend these.

Another great product from Amazon.

Neither the Amazon page nor the Stansport page mention the size of this wok. It measures 12 7/8" outside dimension. Perfect for my needs. It also didn't mention that a wok ring is not needed. It has a cast flat bottom on the outside but still keeps the smooth dome shape inside.

It does require immediate seasoning prior to use.

I am VERY pleased with my purchase and will be looking for more items from this manufacturer in the future. A great buy for a product that should outlive me several times over.

Would purchase again, will recommend this wok to my friends and family.

Most home ranges just don't get hot enough to manage wok cooking. The range has to produce enough heat to fire up and go through a thick layer of cast iron. Robert Yick's website shows that their wok ranges go up to 150,000 BTU. The Wok Shop in San Francisco's Chinatown sells a 32,000 BTU burner. What does a good gas range put out? Maybe 20,000 BTU?

When I first got this item, many moons ago, it was used outdoors. Excellent for campfire cooking. It also works great in the backyard if you build a good fire in your bbq pit. It was okay on the stove, but it seemed to take forever to heat up on my gas range, and it just did not feel all that hot. If you're using a basic home gas range, stick to the 16 inch Traditional Cast Iron Wok.

Where this wok really excels is on an induction cooktop. I use a Max Burton 6000 1800-Watt Portable Induction Cooktop, Black. Unbelievable how hot this wok can get. I can run an extension cord outside, fire up a wok full of oil, and do all my deep frying without getting the house all hot, smokey, and oiley. First of all, the oil in the wok gets to a rolling boil within minutes. It takes a lot longer than that if I were to build a fire, or set up a propane turkey fryer. I can cook up batches of chicken wings by the dozen, and with a little Frank's Red Hot Cayenne Pepper Sauce 1 gal. and some Butter unsalted 83% 1 lb, you will swear I am wearing a tight t-shirt and orange shorts. The best part is that all that I have to do is turn off my induction cooktop. No worrying about waiting for the fire to burn out, or worrying about the oil boiling over into a live flame.

Oh, and by the way, in case you can't get Chinese food on every corner like here in San Francisco; this wok makes really good Chinese food.

Tried half a dozen cooking woks with non sticking future, some more expensive ones even get uneven bottom after about 1 year, I am cooking on electric ranger not on gas stove!? This one works great, heavy but this is true cast iron. Do not trust those light weight cast iron wok, not working. The size is perfect for frying veggies etc. simply love it. Love the handle design too.

Honest reviews on Stansport Cast Iron Wok or Stir Fry Skillet

Pros: Great Size, neither too big nor too small, and the weight is suitable for ladies to handle as well.

Heat evenly, easy to clean.

Heat concentrates in the bottom as a wok should do. when you cooking the handle is not so hot at all.

This wok is great for stir fry and deep frying.

Nice workmanship, but still cannot compare with LODGE.

Cons: Remember to remove the wax coating before seasoning-After washing it with brush and soapy water, I put a full wok of water on the oventop and turn the stove to high heat for 20 min., then most wax will melted in the water. I don't think the wax coating can be easily removed just by brush and soapy water.

Would recommend it to any one who wants a cast iron wok!

p.s The first wok I received it not a good one-there's hole under the bottom and then Amazon sent a new one to me right away on the following day! I am a fan of Amazon, Amazon's service is SO GREAT!

updated: I would like to add one con to my review.

This wok heat slowly on oven top, it takes 5 minutes which is much slower than my LODGE skillet and dutch oven. Luckily the result is the same, food comes out to be very delicious. The more I use it, the more I like it.

It's very heavy. So heavy, there's no way you'll lift it with one hand and tilt it to pour out the food. One person would need to hold it with two hands while someone else scoops out the contents. It's better for weight lifting. Also it arrives covered in a layer of some sort of wax which we are advised to rinse out with warm water and soap. Getting this wax off was pretty distressing to me because there's no telling when the iron is clean, and whatever remains ends up in your dinner that first meal. Next we are instructed to season it with oil then bake for, I think, two hours. After 20 minutes my house was in a deep fog and all smoke alarms were going off, so I left it at that and considered it seasoned.

Having said all that, once you get it broken in, it seems like a very durable, very well-made wok; I could see it lasting a lifetime.

Because I have 3 KitchenAid Food Processors different sizes, different homes, when I need to buy a gift and I see it on a registry for someone, it it always my goto gift. My oldest FP is now more than 15 years old and it gets constant use still. After all this time, the bowl is a bit nicked up but the blades are as sharp as ever and I couldn't manage without it. The 9-cup FP is a big workhorse and one I would absolutely recommend to anyone who cooks. It does quantity in a hurry and it doesn't have all those goofy pieces that are permanent attachments to some FPs. It is heavy duty yet doesn't have a scream or squeal to it, which is definitely appreciated if cooking with several people or entertaining while you cook. Buy it, you can't go wrong.

I just bought this (at a local membership-club store) for $99. I LOVE it. The engineers have thought of everything for this food processor. It has a large bowl and a small bowl. The food pusher is a 3-in-1. There are even seals on the bowls. It snaps easily in place. I ground over 10 lbs of chicken with it yesterday. It was AWESOME. Considerably lighter weight to lift, as well. In addition, KitchenAid has a 1-year "no hassle" return policy.

I bought myself this food processor after my previouse blender/chopper combo died (after 12 years of use). I had a hard time deciding which brand/model to get. I looked at several models ranging in price. I really wanted to the shredding/grating disc and plenty of power.

I found this model at Sam's Club for $89.99, so I figured I would try it! I love it! I've used it several times now with no problems. Reading the instructions provides plenty of explainations and helpful tips.

It is a large size, but I don't find that to be a problem. Especially when cooking for the family. I like to prepare food for multiple days at one time and this food processor really has helped cut down my time.

Clean up is easy. I made some hummus the other day it I was doubtful, but I just put some warm water and a little soap and swirled on high and I was good to go.

Calphalon Nylon Utensils Pasta Fork Review

Calphalon Nylon Utensils Pasta Fork
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Over the years, I've used and abused numerous tools for stirring pasta as it boils, and for dipping it out once it's done everything from a slotted plastic spoon, to bacon tongs, and a three-tined wooden fork. I even had this thing that looked like a flat wooden spoon with about a dozen 1-inch dowel pegs mounted on the spoon end. Nothing seemed to work all that well and the odd dowel-pin thingie was a serious pain to clean. I finally decided there was just no great way to do that particular job.

But while "retooling" following a major kitchen remodel, I tried just one more pasta implement, and imagine my shock to find that it works beautifully! Mine is technically an earlier model of this Calphalon item, but I recently bought this one for a gift, and it seems very similar, with a slightly larger ladle end, and what feels like a stronger handle, which also has a longer non-slip grip area, all design improvements, if anything.

The "teeth" on this server work nicely to separate strands of pasta in the cooking water, and it's wonderfully easy to get a serving of pasta out you just dip the ladle into the kettle and lift up ... a reasonable amount of pasta, which actually stays put while you move it to a dish. And mine comes clean every time in the top rack of the dishwasher. What more could I ask? Unless they have the patience to enjoy fiddling with shifting just a few slithery noodles at a time, I would encourage any pasta lover to try this tool.

As an afterthought, I think we need a catchy, more descriptive name for this utensil. "Spladle" or "spa-ladle" (a contracted form of "spaghetti ladle") is the best I've come up with. Any other suggestions?

We eat a lot of pasta and this tool is ideal for serving it. It grips the pasta well and can handle a heavy amount without bending. The entire tool is sturdy and seems very well made. It looks nice hanging by the stove. I recommend it.

Best Deals for Calphalon Nylon Utensils Pasta Fork

I purchased this Calphalon pasta fork, along with six other Calphalon nylon utensils of the same type, 18 months ago. For the first year I was really pleased with them. However, in the last several months, the grey silicon insert on the top of the handles of two of these utensils (the pasta fork and soup ladle) have separated from the rest of the handle. The inserts could be snapped back into place the first few times this happened, but now they will not stay properly inserted, which results in both utensils having too much flexibility (not to mention they no longer look nice). I fear the same will happen with the rest of my Calphalon utensils. Although the silicon insert is a nice idea, it is poorly executed, and I am now looking to replace my pasta fork with a one piece version.

I am a part-time food manager for a local service club. We feed our members twice a month, and we sell a few home BBQ dinners as fundraisers, that we cater to their homes. These liners have been a godsend for me! With no real kitchen facilities, these make clean up a breeze. In fact, it is very easy for left over donations to the local church agency. Just pull it up and twist tie them, put it in a box or foil hotel pan, DONE. Clean up is nearly rinse and sterilize. DONE. Chile beans in a 22 qt roster, DONE, no soaking and scrubbing, stews, rice, vegetables, the same. Also no flavor transfer. The only thing to remember is when cooking with the bags, in say a roster, add 1/2 to 3/4 cup distilled water between the pan and the liner. these bags have a 400'F limit, but most rosters exceed that when preheating at start-up, that is the reason for the water. I use distilled water because my tap water leaves a hard to remove calcium/mineral stain. BTW the large ones are the same as the extra-large turkey bag you see in your local super market. I have now bought three sizes of these, all are great!

Very elegant, very fragile and when full, sounds like plastic when toasted. When empty, a nice ring but empty glasses are not often toasted.

So, overall pretty but not great. Who doesn't toast champagne? IMHO, a nice ring is important.

They are elegant pieces, but be very careful with them. I broke one the first time I washed it by hand. The stem snapped in half.

Best Deals for Lenox Tuscany Classics Fluted Champagne, Set of 4

I love these so much I bought four sets. I think I may need more...

The shape is perfect: The stem is long and graceful, the depth of the flute is ideal for sustaining bubbles, it has the appropriate capacity of about 6 oz, and simple lines showcase your beautiful champagne.

They feel very substantial--the picture is deceiving. While they are delicate crystal, they are not thin or light. Obviously they need to be washed carefully, but what stemware doesn't?

Perfect.

Honest reviews on Lenox Tuscany Classics Fluted Champagne, Set of 4

These are beautiful and look really fragile (and definitely are) but I've knocked more than one of them over taking dishes out of my cabinet and despite my fears, no breakage or even a chip. Obviously, I don't suggest careless handling and these are definitely "handle with care" glasses, but also of good enough quality to hold up to real-life conditions. I bought a dozen and despite feeling guilty about purchasing something I rarely need, I'm happy with my choice.

I'm about to buy one, and I just checked my Amazon history to verify that I bought my last one almost exactly a year ago. They fit and hold a seal like they should, but they're a bit pricy and don't seem to last as long as they should. This will be my 3rd gasket since I got my pressure cooker in about 06.

*EDIT* You know, I don't think it's just a gasket issue. I started getting steam leaks not very long after getting this new one and was incredibly frustrated that a new gasket would already have given out. But I noticed my lid was not fitting as snuggly as it used to so I gently bent the "catches" on the lid down just a bit to fit tighter and it made all the difference in the world. I think these lower end Prestos loosen up with use and need to be bent back into place. As such, I'm upping my review from 3 stars to 4 for the gasket.

I have been using a Presto pressure cooker for over 30 years. I just purcharsed my first new one several weeks ago. My previous one was given to me by my mother and I only needed to replace the sealing ring several times over the years. I just purchased several replacements and I should be set for a long time. I enjoy pressure cooking and the variety of foods you can prepare are staggering. I made ribs, wings and chili for the super bowl all in the pressure cooker. All in about 3 and 1/2 hours. It is a real time saver.

My pressure cooker had stopped holding in the steam necessary to cook under pressure. The steam was seeping out. I had thought I would need to buy a new pressure cooker until I found this part. I changed the seal and now my pressure cooker is working like new. Saved me quite a bit of money.
