This is a very good electric knife sharpener. The operation is incredibly easy. One literally just needs to pass the knife a few times through the machine, and the edge is nicely sharpened. The result is not surgical-knife sharp, but for regular kitchen chores, it is perfect. It even accept the hugely thick chopping knife. The only minor problem I ever had was with a cheap serrated blade, which was just too soft to hold a nice edge, but I don't consider it a fault of this machine.

This review is short. This product works great! I bought it on Cooks Illustrated advice. The instruction manual alone is worth the price of admission. It explains knife sharpening in exact detail without being wordy. It reminded me of miltary instruction. Exact, economical and correct. I couldn't believe the edge of a sharp knife actually folds over, but I followed the instructions exactly and actually could feel the fold. Polished it just as instructed. Knives I've literally had for 20 years that I've sharpened sort of with a whetstone, well, they slice paper now.

And the built-in dressing stone (the middle station) is fantastic. Chef Ramsey might be able to whip an edge back into alignment by hand, but I've been amazed that a slightly dull knife dressed a few times really must be straightening the edge because the knife goes back to razor sharp performance.

Pricey, but every time you cut something, you go oooooh yeah baby.

Works perfect..you must follow instructions...if you do you will have sharp knives for ever..dont know why I waited so long to purchase...

Honest reviews on Chefs Choice Model 130 Professional Sharp - Brushed Metal

I did a lot of research before finally purchasing the Chef's Choice 130 Professional Sharpening Station in Brushed Metal (to match our kitchen's Stainless steel appliances). It arrived as promised with no problems and I was not disappointed in how well and easily it sharpens any knife. We had a drawer full of dull knives and before its arrival I truly LOATHED the tedium and time consuming process of hand sharpening a knife. After reading the enclosed instruction manual, I sat down and began the task of sharpening each knife in the house. The blades slide fairly effortlessly through the honing slots to produce a shave-able edge. Once stropped, the edge is razor like. It sharpened every knife regardless of its quality. The steel slot works great for serrated knives. It also has a way to re-dress the honing wheels at some point in the future and a magnetized plug on the bottom of the unit to clean out the metal particles that may collect inside the bottom of the sharpener. No more hand sharpening for me!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING IT!!

This gravy boat is sturdy enough for everyday use, yet it is also pretty enough to use for nice occasions. I will still bring out my nice china on Thanksgiving & xmas, but this on has become my everyday sauce boat. The casual color is very festive and brightens the table.

I bought this item as a gift from someone's registry. I am glad to be able to buy a quality product made in the U.S. Although I am not a fan of this shape, I do love the color!

This gravy boat is pretty much what you'd want from a gravy boat; it holds a good amount of gravy, typical ladles fit in it just fine, and it looks nice and is dishwasher safe. Only thing I sometimes wish is that it came with a little matching plate.

I bought the Taylor Precision Products Connoisseur Series Chocolate Spatula Thermometer for my wife's birthday. The thermometer mounted inside the spatula cracked and broke on the 2nd use. The spatula is flexible while the thermometer mounted inside it isn't. This presents a major design flaw when stirring a viscous material like melted chocolate.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I don't know how much pressure the other reviewers were using, but I've used mine several times and it's still in one piece. The grey parts are flexible rubber while the white part is a hard plastic.

I love that the spatula and thermometer are combined, it's easier than trying to mix with a separate spatula and not keep knocking into the temperature probe attached to the side of the bowl... and the printed on guide to tell where the temperature should be is great since I keep forgetting what temperatures to keep it between for which kind of chocolate!

My only minor irritation is trying to clean itthe chocolate gets in between the thermometer and the spatula and it's kind of challenging to get it out... Oh well, lots of hot soapy water and it is all fine!

Best Deals for Taylor Connoisseur Chocolate Spatula Thermometer

This looked like a good design for melting chocolate. It worked well the first time. The spatula keeps the thermometer from touching the pan so you can stir and measure the temperature at the same time. However, mine also broke after the first use.

Honest reviews on Taylor Connoisseur Chocolate Spatula Thermometer

After 3 months of use all of the letters came off. I have a small candy business and use the product weekly, and temper chocolate, but lo and behold even the numbers on the side of the thermometer rubbed off. There are no other products like this so I'm not sure what my options are, but I definately want a replacement from the manufacturer.

I haven't broken mine yet but I immediately figured out how one could and decided that when I'm melting down my chocolate I would just use a much sturdier spatula...problem solved!

We bought this after we bought new cookware and needed a better way to store it both for lack of room in the cupboards and so it wouldn't get damaged. This worked out great for both not to mention it just looks classy and makes my husband "The Chef" feel like he's got a real chef kitchen. We get compliments on it from everyone who sees it. The construction materials are excellent quality and when I need more links to hang it a bit lower on our high ceiling it was no problem. I simple sent an email to the company as directed in the instructions. They replied that they would call me and get the information, which they did! Great service I thought. I got the extra links put them on and now it's just perfect. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a pot rack. This one is nice and big, we have a dozen pots and pans hanging on it and they fit fine.

Over 30 years ago, my husband surprised me with my first All-Clad LTD set. It cooked beautifully (and still does), but the finish has deteriorated because of my care. SO, this lovely little 1-1/2 quart sauce pan is a replacement piece for a 30+ pan. It is beautiful! It shines, it goes in the dishwasher without a worry, it cleans up perfectly. All-Clad is worth the expense. And I love it!

I bought a second to further expand my collection...it was great as always.

I am no one special. I'm just your average guy who really likes to cook and eat. I've gotten very good at it after a lot of practice. And if I can, anyone can. Good cookware can be a huge component of this, and I am about to urge you to spend more money on a set like All-Clad, which I believe is as good as cooking gets. No one likes having his or her food come out burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside, or one side being more cooked than the other due to burner `hot spotting'. Good quality cookware with a more even heating transfer is one of the easiest ways to avoid this. But "good quality cookware"...what is that? You can spend under $10 or over $5,000 PER-PIECE...there is a ton of variety and so many different materials it gets confusing fast. So here is what I have learned from my humble experience...

When friends see I have a very large collection of All-Clad Cookware, they often ask be who these things are made for? Professional chefs? Rich yuppies? Good ole boys who appreciate a good meal? I would say essentially anyone and everyone. Yes, they are stupid expensive...but think of it this way. If you enjoy cooking and you cook better, chances are you are going to cook for yourself more than eating out. It also presents an opportunity to eat healthier food as well. $1,000 on a set of standard All-Clads, a few niche pots for your favorite food types with a steamer, and a nice cutlery set (Shun or Mosimoto, for example) is something that will last decades where as spending $10 a day on lunch doesn't last long at all, but it sure adds up fast. The durability of these over the models costing ¼ to ½ the price is also pretty substantial. The lifetime guarantee is a plus, because this is the set you will have for life. And if you move to a place with a different stove, you can take comfort in knowing that All-Clad cookware excels with gas, electric, induction, side-heat, and open pit cooking. Buy it once, and enjoy it for life.

All-Clad makes a variety of different cookware lines. The standard lines, the Stainless and MC (Master Chef) are the least expensive. The Stainless is what All-Clad is most known for, as it is a timeless and iconic look that has been imitated by many. The Stainless and MC2 are traditional clad, which is a 3-ply construction of aluminum between American-made 18-10 stainless, which is a very beefy steel. You will notice that the most obvious different of the Stainless and MC is that the Stainless has a high-polish outer finish on the cookware and lids, where as the MC is brushed. Having used both, I can say both are very durable and easy to upkeep. They also have higher end models using 5+ ply clad and more cosmetic embellishments. For most users, the Stainless and MC will offer the best blend of value, performance, and durability. Mine are all from the Stainless series.

Is a clad cookware set right for you? It's very possible given how versatile they are. It is important to understand clad and its purpose. Clad is literally a compromise of multiple traditional pan types because some guy was unhappy with the limitations existing pans and decided to combine multiple elements into a single cookware build. Iron is inexpensive, heats evenly, and is durable...but it is heavy as hell, easily rusts, takes a lot of care (season it), and takes forever to heat up. Aluminum is an amazing heat conductor but weak...aluminum pans dent easily and do not hold up. Stainless is durable but a crappy heat conductor and heats unevenly. Exotic cookware such as enameled iron, carbon steel, carbon fiber, ceramic, and organic materials all have some positives, but weaknesses at the points of either costs, durability, heat conductivity, upkeep, or a combination of the above...and these issues are enough to exclude these from fitting the needs of most people. Additionally, most cookware types are best suited for only one or two of the following cooking types: gas, electric, induction, or open flame.

Enter clad, the great compromise. Stainless on the outside, aluminum on the inside (and with All-Clad's higher end models, add copper and multiple cores). The aluminum betters the heat transfer, and the thick stainless encases the aluminum. Ideally, the stainless is high chromium with nickel to add to the `stainless' abilities of steel. Also, ideally, the stainless is hardened to point to give good impact resistance from things like dents, but is hard enough to resist scratching and warping. When done right, you are left with a pot that heats faster than iron, has the even heat transfer of aluminum, and has the durability of stainless. Not surprisingly, clad has established itself as a staple in a chef's cookware arsenal.

What are the biggest downsides? Weight and price, mainly. While not as heavy as iron, the best clad cookware is going to still be pretty heavy...and you will pay well over twice that of iron, if comparing the best iron to the best clad. The cost of making the sandwiched ply layers is a lot more than casting a 1-piece. Also, many people note that the rivets on the handle of All-Clad makes cleaning in the area somewhat difficult...and I agree. However, I do not think this is a downside because these oversized rivets are what gives structural durability. The rivets are massive and as soon as you pick up a pot and run your finger over them, you will see they are heavy duty. The little extra cleaning effort is worth this level of durability as those rivets will give decades of great usage.

There are at least five top-end makers of clad cookware. All-Clad is most certainly one, and probably the best known. You pay a premium for the name, but they are fantastic. Their hardening is perfect, the stainless is durable American 18-10 and it is very corrosion resistant. The thick plates allow the cleaning with a use of an abrasive such as Bar Keeper's Friend. The stainless also responds very well to polishing. As others have noted, after use they will not look 100% new unless you use a high quality wading cloth, but there really is no reason for this. A 30 second clean with Bar Keeper's Friend will make them looking consistently good with minimal effort. If they show a few scratches, who cares?...it's a device used to make food, not an art museum display.

A lot of people consider anti-stick pans with coatings. I don't like these, and if you spend a lot on cookware, I would advise NOT buying anything that is labeled as non-stick and a coating is what is used to give non-stick properties. Why? Primarily, coatings wear off and leave a pan of little value. You cannot use stainless utensils, you cannot clean them with steel wool or wading cloth, and you cannot clean them with abrasives. If you are thinking about clad, get the stainless surfaces as it will be easier to maintain, last longer, and can withstand incredible abuse. Also, cooking practice makes it easier to reduce sticking with stainless cookware...for example, something like olive oil and slightly lower heat does wonders.

So now you must be thinking, "why the hell did I read this bloody long review?"...if so, I apologize for the length. I hope my experience can help you in your decision. If you do go All-Clad, I promise you that you will not regret it. They are a great investment.

Best Deals for All-Clad Stainless Steel 3-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe Sauce Pan

I own practically everything this company has ever made, even some pieces that haven't been made in years. I have cookware, utensils, canisters, you name it. I generally don't buy designer items, but I try to buy quality. This line has been one of the best investments in my home I've ever made.

Just a couple of months ago, after having a conversation asking if they'd examine some of my cookware (the bottoms on those pieces were not flat enough to use on my glass top range without spinning around), I mailed off 4 of my larger pieces.

Thanks to All Clad, I have brand new, non-spinning cookware items3 qt and 6 qt saute pans, an 8 qt stockpot, and a 12" frypan.

I found them to be very kind, and when it was all said and done, they replaced every piece from the over 17-year old set that I sent them without question or hesitation. They even included brand new lids for the 3 items I sent that use them without requesting the lids from my old cookware.

By that same token, I will continue to support All Clad, and just like they did for me, it will be without question or hesitation.

Honest reviews on All-Clad Stainless Steel 3-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe Sauce Pan

Its All Clad, what else is there to say? These pans are wonderful to cook with. I learned about them when I took a cooking class at our local Chef School. If I had gas cooking I'd be in heaven, but I have electric coils so these work just fine. I love cooking with them and they are amazingly easy to clean, even when something gets burned. I use the same things I use on my Circulon non-stick pots and pans. If it discolors you just use a little "barkeepers friend" cleanser. I love that I can put these in a hot oven for the "finish cooking". I know these will last me a life time.

They arrive carefully packed in their own little soft bags. I felt like I had received a treasure.

I've been using these pans for about 3 months and I love them. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself, even if you decide to try just one pan. Well worth the investment.

Bought this pot for my newfound hobby of BEER BREWING. Most of the recipies I've seen are for a 5 gallon batch of brew. This pot is a 10 gallon pot which leaves plenty of room for steeping your grains.

Because of the size of this pot, I'm thinking it will surfice for just about anything that you could imagine. Good luck with your endeavors!!!

This 40 quart stainless steel stock pot is perfect for stew. We have had it for a while; I'd say we've used it about 40 times, and it is still as nice as the day we got it. It cleans up easily and the lid is a good fit. The handles seem strong--the contents of this giant pot can get pretty heavy! I had to make room in our cabinets for it, so you might consider the size of storing one of these before buying, and get used to lending it out! When my parents or brother decide to make a big pot of chili or soup, they borrow this from me! Great pot! Would buy again!

It is huge so I have to pull out my stove to get it to fit, and cleaning it is a little hard, but it doesn't burn, it seems very sturdy from the work I've already put it through! Looking forward to many more years using this pot!

I bought this combined with the cappuccino cups and the coffee cannister and teaspoons. I love this! I like my coffee plain the majority of the time, occasionally with a bit of SF Torani syrup, so the cream and sugar set is more for my visitors having coffee. The creamer holds enough for 3 of my visitors to have a heavy helping, and the sugar has not run dry yet.

Perfect compliment to my Le Creuset French Press and Coffee Storage jar both also in Truffle. Cute little set, Cream jug is large and holds quite a bit of cream or milk. I tend to serve hot milk and the Stoneware keeps the milk hot for a little longer than my old China creamer. The sugar does not have a silicone seal on the lid, I personally don't mind that however I thought some people might find that useful.

Made in Asia along with the rest of their stoneware products. They have been doing this for years. Nothing to be upset about like so many people complain about on many reviews. The quality is still there, and let's face it, every company wants profit. However, Le Creuset has not compromised quality. Their Cast Iron is still produced in France.

I am a part-time food manager for a local service club. We feed our members twice a month, and we sell a few home BBQ dinners as fundraisers, that we cater to their homes. These liners have been a godsend for me! With no real kitchen facilities, these make clean up a breeze. In fact, it is very easy for left over donations to the local church agency. Just pull it up and twist tie them, put it in a box or foil hotel pan, DONE. Clean up is nearly rinse and sterilize. DONE. Chile beans in a 22 qt roster, DONE, no soaking and scrubbing, stews, rice, vegetables, the same. Also no flavor transfer. The only thing to remember is when cooking with the bags, in say a roster, add 1/2 to 3/4 cup distilled water between the pan and the liner. these bags have a 400'F limit, but most rosters exceed that when preheating at start-up, that is the reason for the water. I use distilled water because my tap water leaves a hard to remove calcium/mineral stain. BTW the large ones are the same as the extra-large turkey bag you see in your local super market. I have now bought three sizes of these, all are great!

I went to the local kitchen supply to buy the Unicorn Magnum but did not like it. It was ugly and felt cheap. The deal killer was that there is no way to repeat the grind setting without trail and error. All respect to Adam in the equipment corner but there are more important criteria of a pepper grinder to me than just how much pepper it will grind per turn. This Peugeot not only looks good and feels good but it has the best adjustment of grind I have found. There are 5 marks on the base as seen in the photo. You twist the base to the marks or anywhere in between them to adjust, not the top knob as stated in another review (different Peugeot?). I am coarse and my wife is fine (typical right?) and we are constantly adjusting the grind. Haven't had any problems with it. Great!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This pepper grinder looks beautiful, works very well, and produces 6 distinct levels of fineness with ease. Unscrewing the top is easy, so refilling it is simple (my old pepper grinder required pliers to get the top knob off).

However, I found that the lacquer cracks easily on the base -the part you turn to select the grind. When I first received it, the grinder was cracked there. I returned this one and got another one in perfect shape. However with about 4 months of normal use (and only changing the grind thickness about 5 times) this one also has a crack in the base. From what I can tell this crack is only in the red coating, not the wood, but I am worried it will start flaking off eventually and look bad. If I could I would give it a 3.5 since it works so beautifully.

Best Deals for Peugeot Paris U'Select Pepper Mill, Red Lacquer

Overall, this is a good pepper mill. You can choose how fine the grinds are by turning the bottom section. The image is misleading, however. It is more maroon than bright red, although I would have preferred the latter.

Honest reviews on Peugeot Paris U'Select Pepper Mill, Red Lacquer

As always, Peugeot is making very high quality merchandise. Excellent mechanism does a perfect job of grinding the pepper powdery fine if you hand-tighten the top screw and larger flakes as you loosen it. Such a difference between this and other brand names I've settled for. This mill comes highly recommended!
