I was wary of the product based on the other review available, but having seen a colleague of mine use one, I decided to try it.

It's a very simple piece of equipment. Basically, a plane with a storage container and a flap inside which is supposed to push the ice out (and doesn't do so very well). The blade is removable and adjustable, so the first thing I did was take it out and notice the defects on the cutting edge and resharpen. When I put the blade back in, I adjusted the blade length so that it would shave fairly coarse ice. Washing with hot water and dish soap was enough to remove any industrial oils. This is not stainless steel, so it needs to be very dry before putting away or it will rust.

I found that it took a little big of scraping before it would shave ice reliably. It seems to like very slightly uneven ice, but not too bumpy and not too smooth, in order to scrape the most ice. It's a coarser end product than the stuff you get at fairs and from hand crank or electric machines, but it's a bit more satisfying, too.

I ended up ordering two additional ice shavers to take to a festival this summer so my campsite can be the envy of all other campsites with our cold treats.

I have been using this for a couple of months and it's time consuming to get the grain through it. You have to start at a low setting and keep moving it through until it's fine enough for baking. I think it's tough to clean up but my main concern is that it seems to be a big strain on the unit itself and that concerns me. I could have bought a free standing grain mill for another 80-100 dollars but to replace my mixer is as you know alot more so...I'm on the fence about whether or not this was a good puchase. On the positive, it does work and the bread is very tasty.

*****Update 5/12/11-I have had some issues with my kitchen aid mixer since using the grain mill. It's slowing down and making strange noises. My sister in law called kitchen aid because when she bought and used the grain mill it broke her mixer. This grain mill according to kitchen aid is not recommended for use with a machine that is not at least 500watt and in the professional series. I'm pretty upset that we had to call to get that information. I've looked and looked everywhere online and in the manuals and I can't find it. It seems pretty shady to keep that info to themselves.

Grinds whole grain wheat into a nice fine flour for bread making. Works as advertised.

Dinged it a star because:

limited to grinding 10 cups of flour during a session, then having to wait 45 minutes for the motor to cool. Instructions do not delineate between professional series mixers and smaller models so not sure if this is an issue for the bigger mixers.

blades are steel long term storage requires disassembly and coating blades with mineral oil to limit rust. Must clean initially before first use to avoid clogging

housing is fairly substantial aluminum, hopper holds about three cups of berries. The housing does rock and roll a bit when you grind at the finest setting for flour in a single pass; nothing broke and I guess it would be ok, but seeing the deflection in that housing left me uncomfortable.

Bottom Line ok for occasional use. Buy a dedicated device if you have 10 kids and make bread every day from fresh ground flour as I can't see this holding up to serious use for any length of time.

I've used this mill for a year now. I probably grind once or twice a week. It's better to use flour while fresh, so grind less flour, more often. I love this mill for the following reasons:

-Easy to attach, use, clean, and put away.

-Doesn't take much storage room.

-Not insanely loud (it is loud.. but not ear piercing loud like other stand-alone mills I've heard).

-Doesn't heat the flour as you mill it.

Drawbacks to this grain mill are related to your intended use.

-There is a size limit to the hopper (I don't grind enough at a time to have this bother me).

-You can only grind so much grain before you have to let the motor cool (again, I don't grind enough at a time to worry about this).

-On the finest setting, the grain isn't as fine as a $200 plus mill, however, this mill didn't cost $200 plus.

I usually start milling on the finest setting, and then run all of that flour back through on the finest setting. Twice through makes a noticeable difference, three times is unnecessary.

Just a quick note; I am wondering if some of the negative reviews have been addressed by Kitchen Aid. The unit I bought (as of 8/2011) does not appear to have these problems anymore. Perhaps it is an updated unit?

GRAIN SIZE: On the finest setting, it mills to a powder--not a "coarse sand" like another reviewer said--which should be sufficient for bread making (If you are having problems with it rising, you can always just add a finer powder to it to help it rise, such as Vital Wheat Gluten, or even just plain store flour. Just notice how it behaves when you're kneading. If it's gummy and together, then it's fine. If it is chunky and breaks up, then you need to add something. Eggs help bind it together as well. It bakes. That's what is important.)

MINIMUM WATTAGE REQUIRED: I own the 250 Watt Kitchen Aid (the cheapest model), and have used this mill with no problems so far. While it does heat up after a while, evidently they all do. You just need to let it cool before filling up the hopper again. To me, this is not such a big deal.

Just wanted to relay these few thoughts. (by the way, I am using Whole Wheat Berries).

I've only had it for a few days ,but I will give an update once I have had it for longer.

****UPDATE (4 months later):**** So far so good. I have had no issues with the unit, other than it heating up after about 5-10 minutes of use. It is just enough to grind a full load at a time, to make about 2-3 cups of flour, if I recall correctly. I have not tried milling anything else but wheat berries. I use the finest setting all the time, and it always comes out nice a powdery. Never washed it. Just blow it down a bit, store it dry, and that's it. It is very well built; all steel. The thing is over-engineered, like it was designed by German engineers. It puts some stress on my little 250 WATT unit, but so far the thing has not broken down so that's good!

***Update (11/25/12)***

Bought my second wok since the first one (of almost four years) had endured the toughest conditions. The coating has started to peel and it is time to replace. Please keep in mind people, these non-stick coatings do NOT last forever and especially if you do a lot of cooking like me. This applies to ALL nonstick products no matter what the costs. If you want something where you wouldn't have to deal with the problem then maybe consider buying a pre-seasoned carbon wok, but then again they involved a different type of maintenance too like spreading oil to clean the wok after you cook instead of washing it. I like to wash my wok clean. This time, I will try to prolong it by using lower heat (instead of max) and go easy with the bamboo spatula.

Still made in the U.S.A., only the stamping on the bottom is a bit different, and thank goodness for the Amazon promo credit which made the deal much sweeter!

Before this, I was extensively comparing to two others: The T fal Jumbo Wok along with the Circulon Elite Hard-Anodized Aluminum 14-Inch and I finally nailed it down to the Nordic Ware. One of the main reasons were because I wanted to replace a $ wok by 'Invitations' that I purchased not too long ago from Bed Bath & Beyond actually it was like $ after rebates and promotions, so no love lost here.

The comparisons...

T fal Jumbo Wok: I was ready to buy this wok from a major retailer. As I was going through the bunch, I could not find one that was like new, either there is a scuff here, a scratch there or a knick in between, and as I went through and finally came to one that was knick and scratch-free; the helper handle was deformed. So I said "screw it". Although this wok looked rather good, but it just didn't have the right feel to it, also, it was a bit on the light side and felt kind of flimsy not worth the price.

Circulon Elite: The same retailer did not carry the actual item but I was able to get an idea from one of their medium sized stir fry pans. The product feels heavy (which I like) but I wasn't too fond of the high-low food release design. I'm sure it was a feat of engineer but that didn't do it for me, non-stick is non-stick, it doesn't have to be any more complicated than it is. I'm more into the long-term and durability of its material that was put into it rather than the fancy grooves. I'm sure it works wonders, but for the addition to its marketing strategy; I wasn't sold.

The conclusion: I wanted a wok which was not only identical to the one I replaced but can perform and handle my day to day tasks. I stir-fry, steam, braise, fry, saute whatever, you name it! The Nordic Ware 14" wok has exceeded all the expectations, if not, more! It was tested in and by commercial kitchens and NSF certified so I can count on its rigorous strength. Upon the first day of using it (unlike the one I replaced and used with wooden utensils; the non stick coating stripped right off of its initial use), I stir-fried some vegetables with high heat from my electric counter top and was able to achieve some nice searings, food releases with a breeze and it has definitely passed the test of time! Before I toss the other wok out, I kept the removable handle and it fit my new wok like a glove. Now I know why the other cheap wok wanted to imitate the Nordic Ware 14" Asian Spun Wok, clearly, there is no comparison!

Cons:

*Grip handle is a bit thin, but can get used to (I replaced it with the old wok's rubber grip which is more thicker and fits perfectly)

Im in college and just got my own apartment, when i was buying pans, i picked some out, showed them to my mother and asked her if they were any good. She went to the kitchen, grabbed one of her calphalon pans and said hold this, then made me return the ones i had bought.... Well it was then i learned that the good pans are the heavy ones.

And boy is this a heavy weight wok. It distributes heat very well. The surface is great, it washes easy too.

I bought this for its seemingly great value and have been using it for a couple of months.

First look: great materials, hefty. Two handles makes the wok much easier to handle.

The description is misleading, there is no "Polished stainless steel lids" included.

I really wanted to like it but it is simply not possible.

One major problem with the wok is that the bottom is NOT flat. It was already warped when I got it and it would "roll" around on my ceramic-glass stove top.

Everyone should know that any decent flat bottomed cookware should be completely flat and stay that way. However, the wok came warped(convex). It might be OK for those using gas stoves but I, myself, will never buy this again.

EDIT: Great customer service from Nordic Ware when my Wok started peeling.

The New one is better than the old one but it can be sturdier! 3 stars!

I really enjoy using this pan. The sides are non-stick and fit well with the glass bottom. I don't need to transfer my baked good to another plate for serving you can cut on the glass without damaging it (okay it is glass so you have to use common sense...). I've gone through a number of cheaper springform pans. They've all gone to the trash.

The chest is solidly constructed and the finish is as advertised delicate and pretty. The lining is great. However, the chest has only 1 drawer (not two as shown in the picture), and the slots assigned to the different components of the flatware set are very small. If you are buying this chest for a small, modern flatware set with no extra pieces (serving spoon, serving knife, etc) you may be ok. My set is an antique sterling silver flatware set with about 170 pieces and it just won't fit in this chest. Because the pieces are somewhat larger than most sets I specifically ordered one with two drawers... bummer, this one came with only one. The manufacturer told me they don't make the 2 drawer chest anymore and was happy to refund me for my purchase. He didn't seem to concern about the inaccuracy in this product's pictorial representation.

In conclusion...

1) good quality chest, solid construction, looks pretty.

2) it doesn't hold as many pieces as advertised.

3) it has only one drawer !!!

Nice silver chest. But this item is no longer made in the United States and the product desciption should be changed. Unfortunatey it is just one more American product now being made in China. The photo shows a chest with a cherry finish. The actual chest color is a rich, much darker mahogany as expected.

I don't know how much pressure the other reviewers were using, but I've used mine several times and it's still in one piece. The grey parts are flexible rubber while the white part is a hard plastic.

I love that the spatula and thermometer are combined, it's easier than trying to mix with a separate spatula and not keep knocking into the temperature probe attached to the side of the bowl... and the printed on guide to tell where the temperature should be is great since I keep forgetting what temperatures to keep it between for which kind of chocolate!

My only minor irritation is trying to clean itthe chocolate gets in between the thermometer and the spatula and it's kind of challenging to get it out... Oh well, lots of hot soapy water and it is all fine!

This woodblock is exactly as advertised. It is made of beautifully crafted bamboo provides an elegant touch to my kitchen. Even better, I now have all my knives at my finger tips.

This is a great knife holder for the Zwillling product line. It holds the smaller Zwilling JA Henckels clever perfectly which is why I bought it. It will also hold the International line too.

It is very difficult to find in stores so Amazon came through with this one for sure!

The only complaint I have is with the sender or UPS because it came with a small ding in the side. Nothing too bad or noticable.

If you are looking for good quality, affordable cookware, I highly recommend Calphalon Contemporary for the following reasons:

1. No teflon or aluminum in contact with the food

2. Lids fit perfectly. Lids on regular Calphalon and other cookware we looked at were loose fitting, wobbly.

3. Easy to clean with soap and water. Certain foods will leave some discoloration which is easily removed using "Barkeepers friend".

4. "China" is not stamped anywhere on the Contemporary. This meant a lot to us. All other cookware we looked at including the standard Calphalon had "Made in China" stamped on the bottom. We don't like anything made in China, but as most everything is, at least we don't have to be reminded of it every time we use our Calphalon Contemporary. Judging by the perfect weight, design, and quality of the Contemporary cookware, it's hard to believe it's made in China.

We have purchased our Calphalon Contemporary cookware piece by piece so as to have only the cookware we typically use with nothing wasting space in the cupboard. We currently have seven pieces in our collection not including lids. The Calphalon Contemporary cookware is well worth the added cost over the regular Calphalon cookware. Hope this review helps.

I built a calphaon contemporary set and this pan worked beautifully. I only wish they made a 1 quart model. HOWEVER, the first time I used it, it turned blue. I called the company number and they explained sometimes that happens at first and Bar Keepers Friend will fix it right up.

And it did! Now it only gets discolored occasionally and Bar Keepers Friend makes it look like the day it arrived.

We bough this pot separately as we really needed two of them and only one came in the initial set we bought. We love the entire line, and this particular saucepan is great for small jobs, like heating a can of soup, cooking hot cereal, or making small sauces for a meal. I bought the Calphalon because I have a Gaggenau ceramic-top stove and my Revereware took FOREVER to heat on its elements. (The copper bottom wasn't flat enough, and wound up reflecting instead of absorbing the heat.) The Calphalon is almost too good--we're having to relearn how to cook on this stove, because the pan is so heat absorptive and retentive it's easy to overcook our food. We can use a much lower temperature, and take the food off the burner much sooner. I'm sure our lowered electricity bill this year will more than make up for the cost of these pans.

We have a set of Calphalon pans and just wanted another small saucepan. I found the exact same pan on Amazon for $20 less than the manufacturer's site or any store I compared. A major store was having a 20% off sale, but they had jacked the manufacturer's price up $10, so it still came out to quite a bit more than this seller's price.

The pan arrived very nicely packed well protected and was obviously new and in great condition. An excellent deal for an otherwise expensive pan!

We were using an oval pyrex roasting pan with a rectangular pyrex pan on top as a cover to roast chicken. Worked fine although the seal was questionable. And then one day it smoked out the house. We bought the Granite Ware 15 Inch Covered Oval Roaster to solve the problem. It did. Fits a 5lb chicken no problem, with plenty of room for vegetables. We have owned two other roasters like this one. One, I left at work while taking a pot luck dinner. The other, my wife used the roaster for "on top" of stove cooking....the burner was too high and the bottom of the roaster burnt, so we threw it away. We had been without a 15 inch roaster for quite awhile, then my wife seen this on Amazon. We just finished a roast made in this new roaster. This cooks evenly, and the clean up isn't difficult at all. I would recommend this roaster to anyone who is in the market for roasters. Thanks Amazon! Also, the delivery was quick and packaged very well.

As other reviewers had noted, there are sharp edges on this product, and the metal is not as heavy as the ones Mom & Grandma had. I also noted a few dings, probably caused by shipping, and where these were the enamel was also chipped. Still, for the cheap price, it worked good. I doubt it will last like the ones they used to sell, but is worth it for the current cost.

I was so disappointed with my purchase of the stool. I paid $18.99 for a stool that was not what they advertised it. First of all it wasn't the size it stated: 7 3/4 " ht; 17 1/4" wide; by 13 1/2 long. I wear a size 12 shoe and only half my foot fit on the step stool. Also it stated up to 300 lbs and the sticker on the stools says way less. I wouldnt put a 200 lb person on this. The stool is more for a small child and made cheap. Also no rubber bottoms were on the legs. Don't waste your money! I found a better stool at walmart that was bigger and sturdier.

We have an SUV that is a little to high for my Mom to enter. We do not have a running board, so a step stool was the way to go. The one that I have, when used causes her to almost fall into the seat. With this step stool, it is more sturdy, a little lower and she finds it easier to use. Rubbermaid makes good products that as a consumer, I can use and afford.

I am rather short, 5'2", and I can't reach the top selves of my cabinets in my kitchen. I searched the stores around me and couldn't find anything that would serve the purpose and wasn't some cheap plastic stool. I found this online and I love it. It's ideal for my purpose.

I bought these five months ago. I spent hours and hours online shopping for a new set of pots and pans, reading hundreds of reviews, researching the benefits of hard adonizing over stainless steel and other aluminum products, and this was the set I finally chose. I couldn't be happier! I looked at everything out there; from the cheapest to the most expensive professional cookware there is. I compared Pampered Chef, Paula Deen, Emeril, Cuisinart, Kitchenaid, Le Creuset.....and more. I checked them all out!

My Criteria. Versatility I'm single so for the most part I use the smaller pans in the set. Because of that it was important to me to find a set that had lids that fit the smaller skillets. Most sets out there have lids for the pots, but nothing for the skillets. But I also wanted larger pans for when I do entertain.

Durability I've spent way too much money in the past on pans that bend if you drop them, can't stand up to high heat, or end up with non-stick that starts peeling off after a few uses. I was looking for durability.

Non-Stick I'm a cook, not a chef, and have never really like stainless steel, so it was weeded out of the selection choices early on. I do like cast iron and at first was dreamy eyed about very expensive enamel coated cast iron (Le Creuset), until several of the reviews reported their enamel was chipping into the food and they have had no luck collecting on the lifetime guarantee, and this stuff is expensive!

Price obviously I wanted the best bang for my buck. I'd have purchased a more expensive set if I thought the quality pay off was worth it.

So that was my criteria.....and this set fullfills it perfectly.

Durability Hard adonized It is twice as strong as stainless steel, and a fraction of the weight. I haven't dropped any on the floor yet, or taken a hammer to them, but they feel solid and have held up fantastic so far. The other choices didn't seem so great. Any of the enamel sets (including Rachel Ray) reported chipping and peeling enamel, some just from being put in the dishwasher a couple of times. The cheaper non-stick coatings were peeling off, and I've already mentioned the issue with the enamel cast iron. The real test of the hard adonized will reveal itself with time. I've used them in high eat, stuck them in the oven, cooked rice, eggs, mac & cheese, and it all slides right off the non-stick coating and haven't had even a scorch no matter how high the heat. I'm OCD about using the appropriate utensils for non-stick pans in order to avoid scratches or abrasions, but this non-stick coating is not the cheap crap that will eventually peel off. If you take care of it, it's going to last a while.

Versatility The lids from the pots fit the skillets! It is So awesome to have a lid for every pan! No more using a tiny lid in a big pan to cook my basted eggs; no more having the edges of a bigger lid dripping condensation onto a burner.....a lid for every pan!! The one question I was asking myself as I unpacked it was "where the heck am I going to put these?" Well, all the pots nest nicely within each other, with a paper towel between them to protect the finish, and the same goes for the skillets. The lids actually take up more space, but also store easily in a couple of stacks next to the pans.

So, there you have it. I'm really well-pleased with this cookware. I almost didn't buy it at first because I didn't want to get sucked into buying a set with a TV Chef's name attached. But I really did the research and was convinced this was perfect for me, and so far, I have been spot on!

Update: A few more months have gone by and I thought I should add a couple things. The set is still as great as my original review and I still love them.

A warning about putting them in the dishwasher. I don't know if it is recommended or not, but I thought I'd rather use the dishwasher even if it shortened the lifespan of the pans a bit. However, the soap residue did discolor the outside of the pan. I was able to scrub it off with an SOS pad, but then decided I love their color too much to run them through the dishwasher. They clean up so easily that it's not a big deal.

Also, someone commented about a cheap set that got burn marks on the bottom. These will get burn marks also. It's pretty much my fault as I've poured grease out of the pan and then put it back on the burner, and the grease that dripped down the side burned. It came off with some scrubbing, but there is still a mark there.

Regardless of these two issues, this set still is perfect for what I wanted and is performing in every way expected. Enjoy!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this pot set. I had just recently relocated from up north to down south and was in the market for a new pot set for my new home. I did alot of research and looking at reviews on many many websites. I was a little apprehensive about purchasing since my new home has a glass cooktop stove and many reviewers expressed concern about its use with a glass cooktop. Well i decided to give it a try and they are great. They clean up easily and cook well and evenly. When storing I place a paper towel in between all the pots so that they won't scratch each other. I even use them with high temperature and no problems with the pots or my cooktop. I cook at least twice a day so the pots get quite a lot of use and they still look brand new after four months of heavy use and constant washing. Great buy!!!!

I have not purchased (for myself) cookware in 15 years and bought this set a year ago for my daughter and have been helping her out with her twin girls and using the cookware. I liked it so much that I purchased the 14 pc. set for myself. The best investment I have made in a long time.

I purchased these items and was very excited about getting them. I like the look and felt it would be a great addition to my kitchen. When I got them I really liked the look and was what I expected. That is where it stopped meeting my expectations. I read the warranty and directions and went over everything with my husband so that he knew how to use them. When storing them I even placed the cardboard under each pan as I stacked them so that they wouldn't scratch eachother. I wanted these to last a long time. But they didn't. I have only had them a month and the pans that I use end up with brown spots on the bottom of them. Then recently we were cooking turkey bacon in one of the pans and to this moment I still can't get the 1/4" of stuff of the pan. Everything in the pan stuck to it and I still am an unable to get it off. I wasn't even cooking it on hight heat like they tell you not to. When I called the warranty program it is just a phone number that you are not even able to reach a live person to discuss your issue. All they give is an address that you are suppose to pay to have it shipped to and they will review it for warranty. I feel that is a poor process. It would be nice to be able to actually speak to a live person first before having to pay for shipping across the county. I wouldn't recommend this product and would suggest buying something else. If the warranty process would be easier than it is, I would maybe suggest it as I may have had just a bad set. But with not having a great guaranty, I suggest another pan set.

I purchased the 14 pc Rachael Ray Hard Anodized set in December 2011 and was so excited about getting them. I really thought I had picked the perfect set of cookware. When I opened the box I was impressed with the look and feel and couldn't wait to use them. That's where the good review ends. The biggest problem I had with them is the warping. The large sauté pan sat flat on my glass top stove when cold. When heated to med or med-high the pan would warp and start to spin. I was browning breaded chicken breasts and touched the handle by mistake and the pan spun around almost spilling hot oil over the stove and me. I noticed it didn't sit flat on the stove anymore. When cooled, it sat flat again without problem. I called Amazon they said it was most likely a defect and sent out another set with free express shipping. The second set came two days later and I was so disappointed to find out that it did the same thing. The other problem I had with this set was much smaller and not a huge deal but figure it's worth mentioning. I noticed that the handles got very hot when on the stove. I was cooking pasta and had to use pot holders to pick up the pot to drain the water. I never had to do that before with any set I've ever had. The handles are supposed to stay cool to the touch but they didn't. I can't imagine having to use potholders every time I cooked anything on the stove top. I did some research online and found that warping was a common complaint for this cookware set. So, after speaking to the manufacturer and Amazon, I decided to order a different set. After more research I finally decided on the 12 pc Anolon Advanced Set. It's more expensive but had great reviews... sometimes you really do get what you pay for. Even though I'm a fan of Rachael Ray and love her show and have many of her cookbooks, I hate to say I would not recommend this set to anyone. I feel it's poorly made and bottom line it didn't meet expectations.

These bags are, and always have been a little pricey, but they sure do work. I cook on weekends and then freeze lunches for the next couple of months. Using foodsaver, there is no freezer burn and the food holds up really well. For liquid food, for example chili, I freeze it overnight in a plastic container, then the next day pop it out of that container and vacuum it into one of the quart bags. Have enough great chili for weeks of lunches.

I shop at Costco....so I NEED a vacuum packer... buying the small boxes of bags no sense. I buy these big boxes of bags as they are a bit cheaper. I tried some of the other brand bags, most don't have the ridges which helps flow air out...one went so far as to tell me to put a melt-able STRAW in the path...Uh..NO.

The quart size work for most cuts of meat. I also use the Gallon size for Rib sections and larger Roasts.

These work GREAT in the Sous Vide !
