You can't beat the price on these decent non-stick pans. All our non-stick pans lose their non-stick properties in a year or so, so why pay more for fancy pans that don't last any longer?

Non-stick pans don't like high heat, so these are not the best for searing or other high heat cooking. For that, we "stick" to good old cast iron!

We have been using T-Fal pans for many years. They are good quality and cook very evenly. We highly recomend these for your everyday cooking.

I bought these pans for making omelettes and they sure live up to the no-stick claim. The problem was I could never get the eggs to cook right. They would always burn on the outside and/or be raw on the inside. I don't claim to be a master chef but on my stainless steel frying pan I could always make a delicious omelette it was just that it was a pain getting the fried egg residue off. I have since learned a trick. If you bring water to boil in the pan the fried on egg will absorb the water and be much easier to remove. So I will not be using these non-stick pans again.

Two perfect size pans for everyday use. Nice weight, not flimsy by any means, medium grey on sides, quality details, the bottom is circles of silver ridges...handle is perfect length and feel....I have small hands.....the hole is nice and large to hang it up. I shopped for a quite a while to get the most for my money, and this was a perfect purchase. Quality and looks nice hanging up. Oh....and you can wipe these clean with a wet cloth.......no sticking

I opted to purchase this set instead of the ($!@) more-expensive cobalt blue pans to replace those in a full set that I totally wore out through the years. I was afraid that the lower price was a clue that the quality would be inferior, but no-o-o-o! T-Fal, I love you. (And I don't care that you don't match the rest of my set.)

Heavy duty, fabulous non-stick, easy to clean... Love them!

I have been using this for a couple of months and it's time consuming to get the grain through it. You have to start at a low setting and keep moving it through until it's fine enough for baking. I think it's tough to clean up but my main concern is that it seems to be a big strain on the unit itself and that concerns me. I could have bought a free standing grain mill for another 80-100 dollars but to replace my mixer is as you know alot more so...I'm on the fence about whether or not this was a good puchase. On the positive, it does work and the bread is very tasty.

*****Update 5/12/11-I have had some issues with my kitchen aid mixer since using the grain mill. It's slowing down and making strange noises. My sister in law called kitchen aid because when she bought and used the grain mill it broke her mixer. This grain mill according to kitchen aid is not recommended for use with a machine that is not at least 500watt and in the professional series. I'm pretty upset that we had to call to get that information. I've looked and looked everywhere online and in the manuals and I can't find it. It seems pretty shady to keep that info to themselves.

Grinds whole grain wheat into a nice fine flour for bread making. Works as advertised.

Dinged it a star because:

limited to grinding 10 cups of flour during a session, then having to wait 45 minutes for the motor to cool. Instructions do not delineate between professional series mixers and smaller models so not sure if this is an issue for the bigger mixers.

blades are steel long term storage requires disassembly and coating blades with mineral oil to limit rust. Must clean initially before first use to avoid clogging

housing is fairly substantial aluminum, hopper holds about three cups of berries. The housing does rock and roll a bit when you grind at the finest setting for flour in a single pass; nothing broke and I guess it would be ok, but seeing the deflection in that housing left me uncomfortable.

Bottom Line ok for occasional use. Buy a dedicated device if you have 10 kids and make bread every day from fresh ground flour as I can't see this holding up to serious use for any length of time.

Best Deals for KitchenAid KGM Stand-Mixer Grain-Mill Attachment

I've used this mill for a year now. I probably grind once or twice a week. It's better to use flour while fresh, so grind less flour, more often. I love this mill for the following reasons:

-Easy to attach, use, clean, and put away.

-Doesn't take much storage room.

-Not insanely loud (it is loud.. but not ear piercing loud like other stand-alone mills I've heard).

-Doesn't heat the flour as you mill it.

Drawbacks to this grain mill are related to your intended use.

-There is a size limit to the hopper (I don't grind enough at a time to have this bother me).

-You can only grind so much grain before you have to let the motor cool (again, I don't grind enough at a time to worry about this).

-On the finest setting, the grain isn't as fine as a $200 plus mill, however, this mill didn't cost $200 plus.

I usually start milling on the finest setting, and then run all of that flour back through on the finest setting. Twice through makes a noticeable difference, three times is unnecessary.

Honest reviews on KitchenAid KGM Stand-Mixer Grain-Mill Attachment

Just a quick note; I am wondering if some of the negative reviews have been addressed by Kitchen Aid. The unit I bought (as of 8/2011) does not appear to have these problems anymore. Perhaps it is an updated unit?

GRAIN SIZE: On the finest setting, it mills to a powder--not a "coarse sand" like another reviewer said--which should be sufficient for bread making (If you are having problems with it rising, you can always just add a finer powder to it to help it rise, such as Vital Wheat Gluten, or even just plain store flour. Just notice how it behaves when you're kneading. If it's gummy and together, then it's fine. If it is chunky and breaks up, then you need to add something. Eggs help bind it together as well. It bakes. That's what is important.)

MINIMUM WATTAGE REQUIRED: I own the 250 Watt Kitchen Aid (the cheapest model), and have used this mill with no problems so far. While it does heat up after a while, evidently they all do. You just need to let it cool before filling up the hopper again. To me, this is not such a big deal.

Just wanted to relay these few thoughts. (by the way, I am using Whole Wheat Berries).

I've only had it for a few days ,but I will give an update once I have had it for longer.

****UPDATE (4 months later):**** So far so good. I have had no issues with the unit, other than it heating up after about 5-10 minutes of use. It is just enough to grind a full load at a time, to make about 2-3 cups of flour, if I recall correctly. I have not tried milling anything else but wheat berries. I use the finest setting all the time, and it always comes out nice a powdery. Never washed it. Just blow it down a bit, store it dry, and that's it. It is very well built; all steel. The thing is over-engineered, like it was designed by German engineers. It puts some stress on my little 250 WATT unit, but so far the thing has not broken down so that's good!

I needed a saucepan to cook oatmeal in that would let go on the bits that stick to the bottom. Sounds silly, but I love oatmeal and hate cleaning the pan afterwards. This cleans up easily and cooks evenly. I have used it for cooking rice, gravies and other foods that seem to stick and it always cleans up well. Now, for the lid. There is a black band on the inside of the lid and it scrubed off one night recently. I sat down, wrote an email to the company and by the next day, they have a new lid on the way. They asked only where to send it, nothing else. I like companies that stand by the product they sell. So, if you are going to buy from this line, check that black band, it should be between the glass and the metal, not on the inside of the lid. If you have a problem with the product, ALWAYS notify the manufacturer, they will almost always make it right, like Calphalon did for me.

This is a great pot; durable, easy to clean, great design. Also, the Contemporary line is Made in USA, whereas the cheaper line; Simply, is Made in China. The only negative about this pot is that the lid handle gets hot and you need to use a oven mitt to take it off. Otherwise, great product

This is the upgraded Cuisinart Smart Stick that has accessories. The basic unit does not come with the chopper unit or the whisk; both of these accessories are very useful.

The chopper will handle small amounts of herbs such as parsley or rosemary, and easily chop half an onion or some garlic. This means that if you don't have a small bowl attachment for your food processor (or don't have a food processor) you still can do small chopping tasks that are messy on a cutting board.

The whisk allows you to beat egg whites to stiff peaks, necessary for meringues or cakes. As long as your bowl is clean of grease, it is short work to make up perfectly whipped egg whites and a lot easier on the wrist than the traditional way of using a balloon whisk and beating by hand. If I am making a batch of waffles that uses one egg, I separate the egg and whisk up the egg white separately, then fold it in at the end of making the batter. This makes those very light and crisp waffles in a Belgian waffler, and it's the secret to getting very light GLUTEN-FREE waffles. (The gluten free flour mixes can tend to be heavy.)

The stick itself is well-designed. A button on the unit releases the bottom half for cleaning. This will let you do a thorough job without immersing the electrical (upper) part where the motor resides. So if you have something particularly sticky that needs a soak, you can easily do that with the bottom blade portion. Removing the lower portion also lets you attach whisk or insert into the chopper unit.

A beaker also comes with the Smart Stick, for beating up smoothies or other liquids.

The housing around the blade is metal. I've had units in past that had plastic housing, and eventually, if you drop them or they just get very old, the housing cracks. That won't happen with the metal.

The unit has a low and high speed.

Summary: this is a really good stick blender, with all the right notes. If you like to puree your soups, chop nuts, make pesto, and beat egg whites, this unit will do it all.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is my second Cuisinart immersion blender experience. This model is very similar to the one I tried previously, but, so far, has not shown the serious flaws of the former model. That model had a chopping attachment (mini food processor bowl) which was horrible and totally useless as nothing chopped in it (things just stuck on the blades and spun around and around). The bowl on this one is at least functional (at least for now) and does appear to chop food to some extent. However, it cannot pulse/chop food into anything less than a relative paste and is very uneven. It is best used for small volume foods that you wish to puree (like one can of chickpeas for hummus or a few avocados for guacamole) rather than actual chopping. Also, the lid locking mechanism on it remains annoying to lock in and is troublesome to attach if the tiniest bit of food gets on top of the spindle with the blades (which happens easily because of the small size of the bowl it's nearly impossible to add food to the bowl when the blade is inserted and not get some on top of the spindle). You have to carefully clean it to get a solid lock.

Other than the chopping attachment, this is a perfectly adequate stick blender. I mainly use it for pureeing soups as it works fine for hot liquids which are not suitable for a blender. You can't get as a fine a puree as a blender, but you also don't have to worry about the top blowing off because of steam building up and getting sprayed with hot liquid. The stainless steel design is attractive and easy to clean, but it will also scrape the bottom of any pot you use it in. My stainless steels soup pot is an intricate mass of scratches as a result of using this. I don't think that's going to be an enormous problem in the long run, but if you like pristine cookware (or use nonstick), you'll want to avoid this blender for in the pot blending.

The whisk attachment is fairly lightweight, but works weel for whipping cream and meringue. I've made hard meringue with it several times and find it to be pretty good. The main issue with this blender, and all blenders of this type, is that you have to constantly hold down a button for it to activate. If you're whipping a meringue, it can get pretty tiresome on your thumb as you have to press for so long. I wish there were an option to keep it running without holding in a button, but I realize this is a common safety feature. Also, if you use it long enough or for a hard enough task, the body of the blender with the motor can get pretty hot. When I've used this to mash large numbers of chickpeas for falafel, the body can get so hot that I can't continue to hold it. I'm using it as a workhorse, and most people probably won't use it this way, but it is something to keep in mind.

Overall, I like Braun's immersion blenders better because they run cooler, have a better chopper, and the tip of the blender seems better designed so as not to get bits of food lodged in it while blending, but this one is fine as long as the chopper attachment isn't integral to your cooking needs. If it is, I'd say look elsewhere.

Best Deals for Cuisinart CSB-79 Smart Stick 2-Speed 200-watt Immersion Hand

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I love the Cuisinart products because of their good looks and unquestionable reliability. I have their hand mixer, their ice cream maker, their food processor, and some cookware. I can vouch for how long-lasting their products are. That's certainly an important thing to consider because, yeah, they cost more than the other guys. But it's almost always true that you do get what you pay for.

I didn't have the earlier version of this stick blender, but I'm glad they added the chopper attachment and the whisk attachment before I got it. I had a separate electric chopper that never did a very thorough job with things like nuts and vegetables, so it is in the trash now. With the Cuisinart chopper attachment I can pick the whole thing up and shake it as it is chopping so that everything tumbles around and is more evenly processed. With the whisk, I don't have to haul out my electric hand mixer or use a manual whisk for small jobs. I still use the electric mixer if I'm making a cake or something, but this little whisk attachment is great for omelets or other small jobs.

I still use the stick by itself more often than any other way. I stick it in my pot of cream of asparagus soup and it pulverizes all the vegetable pieces to make a really smooth soup. I stick it into a pot of gravy to whip those flour lumps out and make a perfectly blended sauce. Nothing else not my blender or my electric mixer can atomize all the lumps and chunks and make the creamy smooth result this stick blender can.

The stick can be held in one hand because the buttons are so well located and easy to push with the same hand. Switch between speeds as you blend. The bottom half comes off and can be thrown in the dishwasher when you are done. It's metal and sleek and it's Cuisinart! Worth every penny.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart CSB-79 Smart Stick 2-Speed 200-watt Immersion Hand

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM) Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program

This video demonstrates the Smart Stick in action.

Pros: Sturdy; great for pureeing soups; whips egg whites and emulsifies dressings; has a mini-bowl attachment for light food processing.

Cons: None, really, other than the fact that most people will have other small appliances in the kitchen that do the work of the attachments.

This would be a fantastic shower/wedding gift. If you make a lot of soups and sauces, an immersion blender is a must, and you might as well have the attachments to go with it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is my second Cuisinart Immersion blender. I loved my first one and used it alot to make creamed soups (especially potatoe!) My first one did not come with the attachments that this one had and I was excited to try them out!

I wish this one had more than just a high/low power setting. (My last one had a 1 10 option) The immersion blender worked perfectly to make my famous (by my family standards) potato soup, it was comfortable to hold and operate.

The chopper chopped my onions well (you have to make sure your pieces aren't too big when you put them in and also that you are not overfilling the chamber)

I used the whisk just to mix my eggs for scrambled eggs so that I could try it out, and it did that job very well. I will be looking forward to using it for more "advanced" needs in the future.

All in all I like this immersion blender, the only real negative is that I wish it had more than 2 speed settings.

I like to keep these bottle clean...So, once I make a bottle of soda, I pour the soda into an airtight plastic jug or container...and immediately flush out the carbonating bottle and let it air dry. As the instructions say...Do NOT clean these in a dishwasher..no matter how low the heat setting is. And, again per the instructions, NEVER carbonate anything but water...Anything else (soda mix, crystal lite, ice tea) will cause the bottle to back-flush on you while you are carbonating...possibly causing the bottle to burst or leak or fail or spray like a fire hose...I decided to "test" the instructions in this regard and learned the hard way

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

As of yet, there are no alternative bottles to fit SodaStream machines, so you pay top dollar for these. However, they work great and last a long time. Each has a rubber gasket in the cap which helps keep the carbonation in.

My only complaint is that the plastic tends to absorb the taste of any soda syrups you may use, so you may want to keep the bottles that you use for making pure sparkling water separate from those that you use to make flavored soda. You could easily differentiate between the two by purchasing different colors of plastic (black, white, green, orange, gray) or metal (stainless) for each purpose.

Best Deals for SodaStream 1 liter Carbonating Bottle 2 pack

These extra bottles come in handy. I love my SodaStream and use it all the time. My only wish is that the bottles were dishwasher safe. I tried running them through without with the high temp wash or heat dry and they still melted. Also, I wouldn't purchase the flavored mixes unless you are a fan of generic/store brand colas and such.

Honest reviews on SodaStream 1 liter Carbonating Bottle 2 pack

Some of these negative reviews surprise me. For the people having trouble with them melting...the warning NOT to put them in hot water or a dishwasher is in at least 3 places on the starter pack, on the packaging of the extra bottles, and printed on the bottle itself. I think it's unfair to give a low review b/c it's not dishwasher safe especially since there are dishwasher safe bottles available for a few more dollars. There are also .5L bottles available for the people that said 1L is too much or goes flat.

We have a total of 4 bottles and they get used every day (I love seltzer water!). They show no wear and tear. Even the printing on the bottle is still 100% intact.

If you are having trouble with the taste or scent of soda staying in the bottle, try soaking them in baking soda. When I'm done with a bottle I mix about a teaspoon of baking soda with a cup of lukewarm water then pour it into the bottle and fill it all the way up. Shake or swirl and let it sit. I usually leave it at least an hour but I've never tested how long it takes to smell clean. But it works every time. My mom used to do this for stinky baby bottles!!

Love the color and the fact that there is a lid for the 22 qt container, but it does not seal well and the price is too high for something that should come with the 22 qt container anyway. For me, I needed the container (which is very well made) for a 25 pound sack of flour. The container is perfect and very well made, and when I called Amazon to confirm, they assured me a lid was part of the deal. No lid came with the container; called Amazon again and they again confirmed a lid should have been there. So, after mailing back the container and getting a second container (again lidless) they said I could send back the container again and they would do a full product review which could result in pulling the product entirely. Well, I wanted the container and saw they sold a lid separately. Amazon has fantastic customer service and worked with me so that it wound up costing very little for the lid and they didn't have to deal with another return.

I have looked everywhere for this! Can't find these in the store anymore, i think people thought it was for use as a meat fork, like the metal fork that you use on the grill. This is an absolute necessity for cooking with non-stick pans, as any metal contact ruins them. I use this for stirring rice, pasta, scrambled eggs, or anything you don't want to displace in the pan while you're stirring. I also purchased the Calphalon Nylon Fork, but this one was a good 4 inches longer than that one, and has a more solid feel to it. Highly recommended!

EDIT: Dec 2012: i measured it, this one is only 2 and 1/2 inches longer than the Calphalon brand, it just seems longer. However, this one is rated for up to 400degF; the Calphalon fork is only rated for 250degF, and the tips of the Calphalon's tines/points have begun to bend upwards. The Oxo is still in great shape though after months of regular use.

I bought this for 2 reasons . The coating and where it was made. And after receiving it was stunned with it's beauty. And after using it was very impressed with how it cooks. But after having it awhile it does chip very easy in the sink when washing it.

Not using them for chopsticks. They sit under my monitor at work. Funny bunnies keep get into mischief after I leave for the day.

My daughter loves rabbits and loves sushi, so these chopstick holders are perfect. Good price, and cute little faces on the bunnies.
