I bought this pan after returning from a trip to Barcelona where I took a cooking class (among other things). The chef used all Fundix pans and swore by them. I was so happy to see Amazon carried the brand. This size pan is perfect for an omelet, it's lightweight, and non stick. I would highly recommend it. Anyone who has seen me use the pan, wants one!

This pot rack is very heavy duty and installation was easy. In the ceiling where I mounted this rack there was only drywall, but the included bolts for installation made it both easy and secure. I currently have 7 Calphalon non-stick pots and pans which are fairly heavy hanging from this rack and they fit perfectly with none of them clanking together.

One thing I was surprised at though is in the picture I thought the rack curved up in the back and down in the front. This is an optical illusion. It actually just slants right and left and is flat all the way across.

The only drawback of this rack which isn't a big deal for me is that since it is mounted on hooks in the center, if you take a pan off of the right or left sides the entire rack tilts a little to the opposite side.

Overall it is a great looking, unique pot rack that doesn't look like every other pot rack out there. I would definitely buy again.

Sure, it's an expensive pan, but it's worth every penny. Whenever I start to cook now, I grab this pan first. It's beautiful, solid (heavy), and heats like a dream (evenly across the entire surface of the pan). The lid also fits beautifully.

Large pans like this one need to be on large burners to keep their balance. They heat very evenly (no hot spot) they keep warm even after off the burner, so carryover cooking must be kept in mind, giving you the chance to finish other dishes while the one on this pan keep cooking in the pan alone.

Excellent product, I own other pans by Gordon and they are all excellent. I cook pretty much every day. Clean them right after use and they will last for ever. Very comfortable to sue handles. The best thing about them when it comes to money is that they are a high quality product for half the price of All-Clad brand, and they are built in the same way (high quality alluminum sandwiched between 18/10 stainless steel)

I just purchased the 10" version to replace a 20 year old pan. It's really terrific. Well balanced, heats quickly and evenly. Holds heat (means some adjustment in cooking for me). Plus, it's just pleasing to look at.

Great value.

The handle is so heavy/long on this skillet that it tilts the entire thing towards it and results in an uneven surface and heating on the pan.

So far it's been great! It's much faster and cleaner than the electric citrus juicers. It also seems to get a lot more juice out than the traditional juicers. Unlike the more powerful rotating juicers it does no get any bitter rind into the juice.

Based on the reviews I read before purchasing it, I've been careful not to apply too much force too quickly, and so far it has not broken. So far, it's thumbs up!

after 2 months of almost daily use, the parts are loose and the crusher does not come down straight anymore. also if you have a orange that is thick skinned, this will not work as well as a machine which you can spin a orange on. this only crushes, so you need very thin oranges, like tangerines.

i would rather get a $15 juicer from walmart i think. it will work with every kind of orange

Best Deals for Metrokane Citrus Power Professional Juicer

being mechanically inclinded i had to repair it because the cone ended up sliding up the shaft, which was a major pain to get back off the shaft, but i went to home depot looked for some THICK washers to put above the cone before i put it back on the shaft, since then it works good and has done 100s of citris fruits.

Honest reviews on Metrokane Citrus Power Professional Juicer

The juicer is a big disappointment. First of all, it's not big enough to do a grapefruit, which is a big flaw in something designed just to juice citrus fruits. Secondly, the quality of construction is actually fairly poor. The gear box is not holding together tightly after only a single use. I'm not actually sure it was tight when it arrived. I would keep looking if I were you.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Metrokane Citrus Power Professional Juicer

I read the reviews and was pleasantly surprised when I received this juicer, I like the form factor as I do not have a large kitchen and the next mechanical juicer up looks much bigger than this one. I have squeezed oranges, grapefruit, limes and tangerines this unit gets a lot of juice per squeeze. A decent sized red grapefruit barely fits and you have to guide the plunger down. I am fairly mechanically inclined and decided it would be wise to pick up a 7/16 (12 mm) flat washer to place between the shaft and the plunger head. The plunger head is easily unscrewed from the shaft to make the entire squishing assembly easy to clean. Clean up is simple and takes a few seconds to remove rinse and return. Without a doubt Metrokane could make this unit superior with a few minor changes to their design... I am happy with this juicer. If you intend to squeeze a lot of grapefruit you should consider the slightly larger mechanical juicer as you do have to pay modest attention and guide the plunger for large fruit. If you intend to be sloppy and mindlessly crank hard as you can you should get the larger mechanical juicer.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm going to start with full disclosure: I am not a fan of Rachel Ray. I was interested in these dishes not because they have her name, but in spite of that.

Here's my executive summary:

These are very nice dishes, with an interesting pattern and lots of space for arranging food in an attractive way. I'm finding that they're not practical for me, for daily use.

Now, the details. First, the pros:

* This is a lovely pattern. I would not be ashamed to use it while entertaining. The salad plates are a bit ornate for my taste, but I suppose they provide contrast, and the dinner plates and mugs are quite visually pleasing.

* This is a surprisingly heavy set. My old dishes were Pfaltzgraff stoneware, thick and very heavy. (My mother used to complain about their weight.) These dishes are nearly that heavy and substantial. With care they should last.

Neither pro nor con:

* The salad plates, bowls, and mugs are larger than I'm used to. It looks impressive, and if you like to plate your food with an awareness of the visual aspect, you will find these to be a generously sized canvas for your food art. For my part, I'm trying to use smaller plates to cut back on portion sizes. I switched to using salad plates for meals about a year ago, but these salad plates are not much smaller than my old dinner plates.

Cons:

* The "Important Safety, Use & Care Information" document included with this set warns of all kinds of potential problems. "Please follow this use and care to avoid personal injury and possible damage to your dinnerware." Some of these problems are obvious: the dinnerware is ceramic and will break if dropped; wash before first use and after each use. Some are a bit surprising. "Do not place hot dinnerware directly on a cold countertop as it may cause the dinnerware to crack." Seriously? I've never even wondered what the temperature of my countertop was before. "Stack pieces carefully in like-sized piles with protective felt pads or paper towels in between when storing." Um... no. These warnings go on for quite a while, but I've never had to have an attorney advise me on the correct use of dishes before.

* "Never nest mugs", warns the document. It doesn't matter--you really can't nest the mugs. Because of their shape you can't nest them and you can't turn them upside down and stack one across the bottoms of two mugs. There's a lot of wasted space in my cabinet right now. I had to get rid of eight mugs to store these four.

* I've been running the dishwasher more often since these arrived. The problem is the bowls--because they are so large, with nearly straight sides, they don't fit in my dishwasher's bowl rack. I can put them there, but because of the size and shape they block the water, and the inside of the bowl isn't cleaned. I have to put them down flat, which means that one bowl takes the space of four dishes or four mugs.

* Made in China, of course.

I'm going to keep using these for a while, but I suspect that eventually they'll get stashed somewhere safe, "with "protective felt pads or paper towels in between", to be used when friends visit. So far for me they're too high-maintenance for daily use.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I could care less about what celebrity is behind any product; to me, it's the product itself that matters. In this case, I'm really happy to report that this dinnerware set is both gorgeous and completely suited to everyday use! Even though it's porcelain, the plates, bowls and cups are quite durable. The colors and patterns, also, are pretty, yet in a subtle way, as the colors don't overpower, just enough to bring color to your kitchen. I'm so pleased with my new set!

Best Deals for Rachael Ray Dinnerware Curly-Q 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Green

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Beautiful and substantial. The pattern and green apple color is just lovely in person. There are little details everywhere (like a little curly design inside the bowls). The dinnerware is ceramic and feels nice and solid and the design is ever so slightly raised to the touch.

It is a bit pricey (not sure if we're paying for Rachel's name here or just high quality), but my favorite thing about this set is that you can easily pick up an inexpensive plain white set and mix it with this one to accommodate more people. The Curly-O pattern is complimentary rather than identical on each piece, so it really does lend itself mixing with other pieces.

Honest reviews on Rachael Ray Dinnerware Curly-Q 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Green

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program (Disclaimer: I received this dinnerware set at no cost through the Amazon Vine program).

I ordered this set to replace a 7-year-old set from Target. To be honest, I still loved the old set but my wife convinced me it was time to make a change. As soon as these arrived, I was pleasantly surprised.

The pieces seem sturdy and I expect them to last a long time. The pattern on the small plates and bowls feels like it's part of the material so I don't anticipate any fading or flaking.

The bowls are a little smaller than I like personally, but I have been told that my fondness for abnormally large bowls may be atypical. They should be fine for normal use. The small plates are the perfect size for a large piece of cake, which is about all you can ask from a dessert plate. The larger plates and mugs are nice because they have a little bit of character, but they don't overpower all-white pieces if you mix and match (which we do frequently).

The first two runs through the dishwasher did not reveal any problems.

Overall, I think this set is worthy of 5 stars.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm not a huge fan of Rachel Ray, however, her dinnerware line is cute and feel durable, so no complaints here! The Curly-Q dinnerware set looks adorable, washes well, and when we received it in the box, it's very well packed (not a single dish harmed during travel!). We like using our set as a casual dinnerware set and have received several compliments on the sheer cuteness factor of the dishes.

We personally love the larger size of the bowls, as we can use them for cereal, and the kids love using them as popcorn/snack bowls. All in all, we love this dinnerware set! Highly recommended!

Despite the write up you need to know these are NOT pre-seasoned. They arrived with a sticky wax coating on them (probably from the mould used to create them) that when heated off became a sticky, noxious smelling mess I suggest you do this out doors on your gas grill like I did. Because they were needed for an event I had no time to reorder or send back, so I had to season them myself, plus the shipping on 40 lbs (I bought 2) would have been ridiculous.

In addition the name TEXsport indicated to me they were made in TEXAS don't be fooled! Read the WHOLE write up they are made in China. Had I known that I would have spent the extra money for the Lodge brand ones that ARE pre-seasoned and ARE made in America. That's what I recommend.

The dutch oven was the perfect size I needed and the price was great. Took a while to season it, but once seasoned performed flawlessly. The item is very heavy so be careful when using it, especially when hot. Takes a long time to cool down. I bought it specifically to cook a campfire bread and the bread came out perfect. I would recommend this dutch oven to any one.

I purchased a new microwave and needed a microwave plate cover. I ordered this Plate cover and I'm very happy with my choice. It fit's my microwave perfect (make sure you find out the size of your turn table in your microwave, so your plate cover is not bigger than your turn table). My only problem with this purchase is that I just seen the same microwave plate cover in the 99 cent store the other day for $2 and I paid $5.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Works as advertised. What more can be said? It hasn't warped in the microwave nor the dishwasher. The only thing I can say is that it arrived with a slight crack, and was very poorly packaged for shipment. That said, I could care less as the hunk of plastic stays in the microwave even when not in use. It does it's job: it keeps the foods from splattering all over the microwave itself and contains whatever messes may take place to the glass tray in the microwave.

Best Deals for Plastic Microwave Plate Cover Steam Vent Food Lid NEW!

I have only one issue with this cover. While it works as it should I wish the handle was a bit taller. I am small and have small hands and even I have a hard time gripping the shallow handle on this. For my 6'5" husband who has enormous hands it is nearly impossible. He found it was easier to lift off the cover with both hands rather than struggle with the handle. So, if you have large hands I would potentially look elsewhere. It is perfect in every other way and is otherwise great for the low price I paid.

UPDATE 1 YEAR LATER

Having used this cover for a year I can say that it has layered fairly well however it has gotten stained from being washed in the dishwasher and the spatters from microwaved food. It does not affect the performance in any way and it is in the microwave so no one sees it except my husband or myself. The one drawback for me personally is that we bought new dishes and now it does not fit over the plate instead resting on the rim. It still works however, we will be looking into getting a larger one. So, if you have large dishes just know that it may not fit properly. The base is 10 1/4" in diameter so measure first. Otherwise I stick to my original 4 star review. The shallow handle is still a bit unwieldy and since it gets rather hot is is uncomfortable for my larger husband to hold onto. It fits my smaller hands with no problem though.

Honest reviews on Plastic Microwave Plate Cover Steam Vent Food Lid NEW!

I wouldn't recommend this product. I purchased four of these lids, with the intention of keeping one for myself and giving the others as gifts. After using mine for the first time the lid cracked. I returned all four.

It does what it says it will do...prevents splatters in my microwave. It is very easy to clean (much easier than the microwave!) It is tall enough to cover most foods and large enough for my dinner plates. I also like the vent feature to keep my food from getting too soggy.

I got this as a Christmas gift, and I christened it right away with a cup of tea! It whistles wonderfully, and it is absolutely beautiful. It heated very quickly and silently, with none of the popping or clicky noises that cheap kettles make. I wish I knew where Berghoff's products are manufactured, because I'm hoping it lives up to the company name. For now, it is very nice, and appears to be well made. The only tiny problem is that the removable whistle can be a bit awkward to get in, but you get used to it. I feel that this is worth the money, and I hope I can keep it in the family for a long while.

EDIT: On May 15th, not even 5 months after recieving this kettle, the handle on the lid snapped off. I'm not sure if this is just one faulty piece or if they are all badly welded, but I am quite upset as I really did love this kettle. Trying to contact the company is extremely difficult, and I don't know if I'm going to be able to get a new one.

EDIT #2: Tried very hard to contact the company, but none of their phone numbers work! I called Amazon customer service, and even though the product is 4 months past its return date, they sent me a new one and a return label because it qualifies as defective merchandise. Thank you so much, Amazon!

EDIT #3: The replacement kettle broke in the exact same way. That little handle on top is does not even have enough surface area to hold a good weld, and it just snaps right off with a little bit of force; how are you supposed to get the kettle open? It's ridiculous. Called Amazon support, but since it's almost a year past the return date, they could not do much. Got a little help for the purchase of a new one, but I'm very sorely disappointed in Berghoff. Will not be buying anything from their company in the future.

This is a beautiful tea kettle, like a work of art on your stove. I had purchased one of these several years ago (I think from Costco) and had a love/hate relationship with it. My biggest complaint was that the handle gets very hot, hot enough to where you really should use a pot holder to pick it up. I also didn't like that you needed two hands--one to remove the whistler before pouring. And the whistler was a pain sometimes to put on the spout because if it isn't aligned just right, it doesn't snap in. The plus about this kettle (still talking about the first one I owned) was the high handle. We use purified water for our hot beverages and fill up the tea kettle from a large jug with a spout. It fit easily under the spout and I never even thought about it. So after several years, I saw another tea kettle at Costco that had a silicone-coated handle and a lever for lifting up the whistle. I'm not sure if it is this very one --> Primula Soft Grip Stainless Steel 3 Liter Tea Kettle with Silicone Handle

I was excited to receive this pan and quickly tried it out. The cakes came out effortless with just a spirits of spray oil. However, the resulting shape wasn't really donut like because the wells of the pan are just to fat. It doesn't even pass off as a cute mini bundt pan look. If your not going for a donut shape or a mini bundt pan shape, it still doesn't look cute. It looks worse than a mini cupcake with hole in the middle. Good pan but not cute enough to use it over buying a real mini bundt or donut pan.

These are essentially the bowls from the professional quality Riedel Vinum glasses produced without stems. By doing without stems you get a glass that neatly fits in the dishwasher, and save about $10 per glass compared to the stemmed Riedel. I have been using these for several months and they are fabulous. Since they are non-lead crystal, they develop the bouquet due to microscopic "pores" that non-crystal glassware lacks. They really gleam, right out of the dishwasher. Best of all, the rims are thin and smooth, which is the luxury feel that premium glassware is all about.

If you are wondering which to buy as an "all purpose" red glass, I prefer the syrah/shiraz glass over the cabernet/merlot, even though I drink mostly cabernet. The syrah glass is just a bit taller and more graceful. But the difference is minor.

I have been a wine "nut" for over 20 years, and these glasses are teriffic. Buy them, and feel safe using them daily. They will improve the enjoyment of every wine you drink, from Gallo to Lafite

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I really enjoy these glasses, and not just because of their interesting and classy appearance! They are quite thin (esp the rims) and feel delicate, yet at the same time feel surprisingly well balanced in the hand. In my opinion, they have proved themselves to be very durable, especially for such a thin glass (see my dishwasher testimony to follow!). The shape enables the consumer to really enjoy the nose of the wine.

I bought a large quantity of the cab/merlot glasses for a party we were having with a large amount of wine. They were an absolute hit all the way from the casual wine drinkers to several true wine conoisseurs present. Everyone loved the stemless presentation (and they were so popular that they drank both whites and reds out of them). Little did they know I had only paid $8 a glass! Someone commented that they had just read a NYT article on these, so they will probably be a hot item this '04 holiday season.

Even better... I was hesitant to put them through the dishwasher due to the rim thinness which I interpreted as a higher risk to break. However, given the number of glasses we had to wash, we went ahead and put them through the dishwasher after the party (some even on the bottom rack without my knowledge!). I figured with the number we had to wash we may lose a few but same some time.. Much to my surprise, not a single one of them broke they came out beautifully. The dishwasher is an old one too, so I also expected them to be at a higher risk for breakage due to the rougher nature of older dishwashers!

I do not think that hand warming is really going to be a problem with the stems in absentia most of the time you just pick the glass up for a moment to appreciate a sip. Also, the bowls are so large that you can easily (and comfortably) hold them more towards the top of the glass where the wine isn't sitting I have done this myself when I have walked around the house or the party with my glass. (In general you are only going to have wine in the bottom of the bowl anyway!)

In addition, for those who prefer to avoid leaded crystal due to concerns of lead leeching into the wine, these glasses are an excellent option as they are made of glass instead of leaded crystal!

Best Deals for Riedel O Cabernet/Merlot Wine Tumblers

My husband and I love these glasses... so much easier than worrying about breaking a stem, but still Riedel's signature shape that makes drinking wine fun. We get tons of compliments on them.

Honest reviews on Riedel O Cabernet/Merlot Wine Tumblers

We first saw and used these glasses at an up-scale wine tasting shop in Las Vegas and knew we had to buy some. The glass allows the wine to breathe and the bouquet to reach the nose. The best part is that there are no stems to break or spilled wine from being knocked over! (A tipped glass will actually balance itself without spilling any wine.) It's the Riedel Vinum glass without the stem and it is fun to see guests' reaction to the stemless Riedel. Try it; you'll like it!

This is a must have barbecue accessory for us we like to grill bacon & sausages and mushrooms etc for breakfast and they cook just right on this grill plate. Very heavy durable cast iron.

We brush vegetable or olive oil on the surface before cooking with it so we get a non stick surface.

We were pleased with the price and the free shipping from Amazon. We are planning to buy an additional one so we can cook for a crowd

It is exactly what I was looking for. I come from south of France, close from Spain, and we are used to the "cuisine a la plancha". That makes you exquisite fishes, even meats without any burn taste! Just perfect and healthy if you do not use too much fat :-)

I was most disappointed with the casting quality of this product. Realize that castings are porous, but the large indentations were not acceptable. I would attribute this to a lack of quality control or inspection of the final product. I would not buy any other product from this company. I would send back the item if it weren't such a hassle.

...But if you want to cook real food like a pro, these Woll Diamond Plus pans are superb! Properly pretreated with a little oil, heated, rinsed with hot water, and wiped dry with a paper towel before attempting a cookware pitchman "magic trick", a tough and durable nonstick surface like this works fine, and cleans up like a charm. If you're worried about a few molecules of oil touching your food, just buy inexpensive T-Fal Professional pans even scorched caramel will speed skate across that stuff, for a year or two at least, if you're careful enough with it. But for a serious quality gourmet skillet without the fuss of continually "seasoning" cast iron or constant temperature babysitting and re-polishing stainless with Kleen King, these Woll pans are truly impressive.

Just received this pan to give as a Xmas gift and is ia not the pan that is pictured. We have the saute pan that is pictured and we love it so we wanted to share the great quality. The pan we received has a different handle which is not a big thing but it doesn't have the small grip on the opposite side which does affect my opinion of the pan. We like the extra grip because the pan is heavier than most and sometimes being able to use two hands is very useful. Beware if you are ordering this pan that it might be different than the picture.

Honest reviews on Woll Diamond Plus Open Saute Pan, 11-Inch

Mostly wrote this to counter the reviewer who gave it 2 stars. That review is simply bogus. Yes this skillet IS VERY NONSTICK when used correctly. After you use it you'll be OK with spending so much on it, because of how well it's contructed from the handle to the sturdy feel of the pan itself it's going to be around a long time. No it is not going to be TV-like nonstick if fresh from the dishwasher or from the box without an oil slick on the surface. But it is also EXTREMELY tough, heavy (which i like in a skillet) and the little microscopic pits the diamond infused coating makes is part of the reason it's so nonstick with the oil on top. But the coating surface is also very tough, from whatever patented infusion process they have going on, it's very different from a cheap teflonish nonstick skillet who's coating IS going to wear out sooner rather than later. You can feel that this is a 3D surface that is not flimsy (this one is metal utensil approved and I think that's legit, though of course you're still better to use silicone to maximize wear).

So the take home point is that no it's not just out of the box ready to be nonstick (or out of the sink if you use soap) -it does have to be prepared correctly the other previous reviewer gives an excellent description of that. Think of it like an iron skillet that doesn't have to be continuously babied and reseasoned and it won't break, won't rust, warp, etc -If you take it straight to the sink and use water and sponge (you don't need the scrubby kind, just a soft sponge) or paper towel without soap to wipe it out after use, even burnt stuff wipes right off EASILY and it seems like the pan very rarely needs more oil unless you forget and bring on the soap. And you don't have to worry about this one warping it's so thick so take it right to the sink when you're done, run cold water (which will be hot as it cools the pan enough you can wipe it), wipe er down and back in action. Literally takes about 15 seconds to clean it like that, dry it and have it back on the stove ready to go. It beads up water with the oil on board, so just a brush from the towel and it's dry. I'm not sure it'd be possible to burn something onto the outside of it in fact except the flat bottom which is of course not coated.

The amount of "seasoning" for the 11 inch skillet is negigible in calories, so don't get the wrong idea -it amounts to about as much olive oil as you would get dipping about 3 fingertips into the oil to your first knuckle in fact, I like to rub it in like that -a few drops of oil and rub it in with your fingers until you cannot see the oil film except for a little streak behind your finger. If you just do that simple little trick and avoid soap (which removes the oil) this pan is tough as nails, cooks very evenly, and can then perform the As Seen on TV type nonstick tricks and your eggs WILL slide around easily, etc. It's my favorite nonstick pan ever, and I've been looking around forever trying to find one that will truly stand up over a long period of time without the nonstick surface eroding off, and one that doesn't have to be babied if you forget and use a fork, etc. I've abused it in the dishwasher when I'm being lazy (which is unneccesary and dumb, the pan isn't hard to clean) and it still stands up to that very well (but needs re-seasoned).

Also it's laser flat on the bottom. outside's easy to clean also same surface all the way down to the heat pad

My only wish is that they would make it in their induction friendly line it's aluminum and titanium, so no go for magnetic cooktops. Combine the quick on of induction with the heat transferring properties of the diamond coating (much faster than metal) and you'd have the ultimate in instant/consistent heat. I have one of the Precision Induction Hotplates you see on TV and it really does keep the heat constant at the selected temp, which keeps you from burning food in the first place, even oil if you're frying chicken or fish, etc can be kept below the smoke point and not turn rancid you could use it over and over if you wanted just like a restaurant fryer. Combine that with this type of nonstick coating surface and it'd be perfect. I haven't tried Woll's regular induction line, but if that coating is anywhere near as tough as this it's likely to be great too. Also fit the lids I have from other cookware perfectly.

So yeah it's pricey but in a couple years you'll be glad you bought it because you'll still have it and will probably have forgotten where you put all your other skillets and after a garage sale you wont always have a cabinet full or worn out skillets anymore -that by itself is worth it in my opinion.

Saw these pans demo'd at a home show and was very impressed with the performance but not the price they were selling at. Found this on Amazon and instantly bought it. I was very excited to try this product and get similar results and it could not have been more opposite. You are supposed to be able to cook fat free and water free in these pans which i tried and it failed miserably. Cooked eggs and the second they went into the pan they formed a film across the bottom instantly stuck. It was very disappointing but it got two stars because it did clean sort of easy and Amazon's price is very good.

You need the whole set, not just the big casserole.

Why? Because when you cook vegetables in a microwave, it is the steam within the vegies which does the cooking. If you use an open container, the vegies just dry out, and never cook. Try it, just try microwaving string beans in an open container---you can't do it. You have to use a covered container, and the container needs to be as small as possible. The glass tops work very well, releasing pressure, but holding in as much steam as possible.

12 OUNCE CASSEROLE DISHES

Unlike the reviewer who claims that the 12 oz casserole is useless, I used them heavily. It's the right size for one large serving or two small servings of your favorite vegetable. Just fill it to the brim, and microwave for 3--5 minutes. For example, dice a 2 1/2" potato, microwave for 4 minutes, mix in a little mayo or butter, and you've got 2 servings of great-tasting mashed potatoes.

The "lid" of the 12 oz casserole can be used as a "sandwich-size egg microwaving dish": Coat dish with a little vegetable oil or butter. Break egg into dish. Optionally stir egg. Optionally, add grated cheese, ham chips Hormel Premium Real Crumbled Bacon chopped onion, and/or chopped bell peppers. Microwave on low (in my microwave power level 3) for 3 minutes. But if add alot of extras, you might want to use the lid of a 24 oz casserole instead and increase the cooking time by a minute or so.

I actually have 6 of the 12 oz casseroles, and also use them for baking French onion soup, baked custards, and other single-serving dishes.

24 OUNCE CASSEROLE DISHES

The 24 oz casseroles are my workhorses (I have 3). They are great for 2 vegetable servings. Ever cook a cup of brown rice, and find that not all the water has been absorbed? Pack it in a 24 oz casserole and microwave for 5 minutes---the rice will be perfect. Honest!! The 24oz are available individually under Marenex brand Marinex 23.7-Ounce Small Round Casserole with Lid

The "lid" of the 24 oz casserole can be used as a "omelette-size egg microwaving dish": see above

1 1/2 QUART CASSEROLE DISHES

The 1 1/2 quart size is most useful for 4 vegetable servings, or to prepare a 2-servings of a 1 dish meal, such as chili, chicken and rice etc. For a family, a 2 quart and 3 quart casserole would be useful. The Marinex large casseroles are particularly nicely designed. Marinex 1-2/3-Quart Medium Round Casserole with Lid or Marinex 4-Piece Round Casserole Set, Gift-Boxed. Among other features, the Marinex casseroles stack much better than Pyrex or Anchor casseroles.

GLASS STORAGE CONTAINERS

Some reviewers use the dishes for storage---of course you CAN do that. But I recommend Pyrex or Anchor glass storage bowls with plastic tops. They are cheaper and better for storage. The plastic cover seals tighter, and can be used for moderately long term storage in the freezer Pyrex 6022369 Storage 14-Piece Round Set, Clear with Blue Lids

The 2 cup containers are similar in size to the 12 oz casserole, and the 4 cup containers are similar in size to the 24 oz casseroles---the glass casserole tops do not perfectly fit the storage containers, but are usable when microwaving a storage container to warm the contents.

BROWNING MICROWAVED FOOD

Yes, I know, microwaved vegies are kinda bland---want to perk them up? Brown them in a gridler. With this set of casserole dishes, a microwave, and a gridler, you can make many great dishes in just a few minutes. Can you imagine great potato pancakes in 6-8 minutes, including cooking the potatoes?---it can be done. How about nicely browned chicken thighs from frozen to done in 8-10 minutes? See my review of the Cuisinart Gridler for my recipes. Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler

Best Deals for Anchor Hocking 3 Piece Casserole Glass Bakeware Set with Bonus 2

I've had very good luck with these and use them all the time. The two quart is perfect for the entree casseraole, the 20 oz for the veggie side, and the small one for a sauce or gravy. At first I was dissapointed that the two smaller dishes didn't have a knob on the lid. But then I realized that the flat top allowed you to use the lid as a hotplate for the dish so the lid was always handy.

In fact, I'd buy a half a dozen of the 20 oz ones if I could find them. My only complaint is that I could only find this size as part of a package deal.

This set is perfect for microwave cooking and refrigerator storage. I do not like to microwave in plastic containers or lids. Sizes are just what I needed.

I was looking forward to this item as I have been looking awhile for small casseroles with glass lids. The items arrived with no real packaging, just nestled among brown paper in a box. None of the glass had broken, however, one of the melamine spoons was broken. Since 6 glass pieces arrived intact despite the poor packaging, I can only conclude that the spoon was already broken when packed. I was going to ignore the spoon and enjoy my dishes, but then realized that the lids on the smaller bowls were not formed properly and therefore do not sit squarely(or roundly)on the bowls. I am sending the items back.
