Perfect size and weight for a 12" skillet. Keeps the bacon, chops flat for even frying while preventing any splatters. High quality materials. You won't cook bacon again without this indespensible utensil. Easy 5 stars for this great product.

W. Hooper's review is right on! Bacon cooks faster, flatter, and with much less spatter. This truly is the perfect size for a 12 inch pan ... wouldn't want a different size/shape! Clean up is a sanp. Proper care (seasoning before first use, and oiling) is required, but it's easy enough to do. Also great for grilled cheese/panini sandwiches.

Well made. Useful size and weight, although it could be just a little larger in diameter. This thing gets really hot and holds that heat for awhile, as you would expect with cast iron. However, it would have been nice if designers had provided some insulating material around the top of the metal supports for the wood handle. Really need a glove when using this to avoid coming in contact with the very hot metal handle supports.

Honest reviews on Norpro Cast Iron Round Bacon Grill Press

It's round, it's firm, and it's fully packed! Consequently it was delivered in fine condition. You can tell it's a bacon press because it has a raised relief pig on it. Without the pig it would just be a press. And we all know that the press is biased these days. Whereas a bacon press should be unbiased. And this one is nicely flat, with ridges on the bottom to promote appropriate grease expulsion during the cooking process.

I had carefully selected this item based on extensive measurements of my main bacon frying implement, "Old Reliable". Old Rel is a 10 inch cast iron frying pan of uncertain provenance. Amazon.com carried three bacon presses, but this one would make a perfect partner to Old Rel, based on the principle of similar diameters.

I seasoned the bacon press according to directions. I must say that the seasoning directions did not work. After following them twice, the bacon press still had a raw cast iron smell to it. The directions appear to be a compromised attempt to season the bacon press without having to burn the handle in a hot oven, or take the handle off. I may need to remove the handle and submit the rest to the fiery depths of my oven for an extended time -suitably anointed for the ordeal (the bacon press, not me). Meanwhile I shall endeavor to persevere, and hope that over time the succulent bits of bacon fat will provide the perfect seasoning through normal use.

I lay the cold strips of bacon into the cold frying pan. I turn the heat on. I lay the bacon press gently over the bacon. I wait. Soon, the sizzling sound begets an odor, and the odor a salacious longing for my favorite breakfast treat. After several minutes of cooking (and longing), I lift the bacon press. Lo! There be flat cooked bacon! As if by magic it transfers to a plate already draped with paper towel for drainage. The bacon cools and dries for 60 seconds. I admire the bacon's flatness, its planarity, evenness, flushness with the plate. The bacon is flat as a pancake, flat as a fluke, flat as a flounder, flat as a board, flat as my hand! But my rapture ends as I cannot stand it anymore. I devour the bacon! And it was good. (No cast iron taste.)

Stay tuned for further adventures in pressed sandwich land!

I've had mine about 8 months...works great.

Made of cast iron with wood dowel handle.

8 5/8 inch diameter

Handle attached with 2 screws

I took the handle off and seasoned mine in the oven a few times using bacon grease.

Only gripe is the handle.

It should be more securely attached.

If you don't grab the handle in the middle you can hurt yourself.

I'd buy it again.

Spout is not useful at all, liquids poured from it drips along the sides. Not good for pouring out liquids from this.

I originally purchased a set of these from another source, and searched high and low to buy some more after they no longer carried them. Thank you Amazon! They look delicate but are actually pretty durable. Great size. Our favorite red wine glasses even better than some that cost a lot more.

While unpacking, I found the 1-qt. bowl was defective. It looks unpolished, hazy, opaque, not clear, see-through glass. There are also scratch marks on the interior surface. The rest of the bowls in the set look fine.

I immediately used Amazon's online returns/replacement option and obtained a free return shipping label. Then Amazon sent me an email, saying they would send a replacement set immediately, and to not return the defective bowl.

Thank you for your great Customer Service, Amazon.com.

Dunno about the quality of these bowls (now made in China, as most everything else, these days). Although the thick rim on the top of the bowls gives the appearance of sturdiness and strength, the bowls' themselves are very thin. Wish the walls were of thicker glass. I hope they don't break easily with regular daily use. I want to use them to melt chocolate over a sauce pan of heated water (placed on the counter, removed from the stove).

11/25/08 Update

Sorry 'bout my mistaken assumption, these bowls were made in USA. (see comments.)

I finally received my replacement set yesterday. That only took nearly 2 weeks! And, this set has a couple bowls chipped along the rims. The same size bowl with the haziness has a bit of haze on the new one, too, but it is clearer than the first.

Chips on the edges of the bowls. Anchor Hocking and/or Amazon really needs to figure out how to pack and ship these safely. There was no marring on the packaging. And not glass shards within the bowls or inner packing. So they must come from the factory like this.

Oh well. I have replaced the 1 bowl. Stuck the hazy, chipped set under the sink, in case one of the 'good set' breaks.

I do love this set! which I use every day. Every size imaginable, for prepping spices to mixing things up.

Just wish they would do quality control at Anchor Hocking. $30 a set is not cheap, why should the quality be?

Not sure how I survived in the kitchen for so long without these bowls. They are excellent for prep and even look great for serving.

However, I purchased them at WalMart for $16. Save yourself a ton of money and go buy them there. (Exact same set.) They are an excellent tool and will be used constantly in the kitchen.

I love these bowls! I don't know how I lived without them so long. They first came to my attention when I saw them on Williams-Sonoma about 3 yrs ago. I'm not sure if they're selling the this brand or the very similar Duralex brand, but I read all the reviews saying how great they were. Only in the past 2-3 yrs have I realised the benefit of proper prepping when cooking (esp. big meals) instead of just measuring out the ingredients as you go. And the various sizes of this set make prep and absolute breeze. They're also so simple, yet elegant (thanks to the lipped rim) that I also use the medium to large sizes for presentation at dinner parties. Great for presenting rolls, pasta salads, etc. And, given they're all microwavable, they're great for melting or softening butter in the microwave. They're also very durable (I've bumped them into counter tops and dropped them in the sink when my hands were slippery), which is important for someone that's clumsy like I am! And they stack perfectly for easy storage.

I honestly can't say enough about these. If they were oven-proof as well, I'd actually get rid of some of my oven dishes! But as others have said, GO TO WAL-MART to get them. Only $17! I think it's borderline criminal to pay this much online.

You know what this does as a turntable.

This is the perfect flatbread maker. By using a rolling pin at a slight angle, every time you roll out from the center, the turntable will spin a few degrees. You just keep rolling until the bread turns a full 360 degrees and you will have a perfect circle of bread. You can't get a perfect circle on a cutting board or counter, because you have to turn the bread too many times and put the rolling pin down every time. Plus the marble is cool and absorbs heat which keeps the gluten in the four from building up.

Perfect tool. Packing from the manufacturer could be a lot better, first one broke, second on is great.

Best Deals for Fox Run Marble Lazy Susan

This lazy suzan is more attractive than I thought it would be. It is nicely cut and smoothed with little padded feet on the bottom to keep the stone from scratching your counter. It has a pleasant heft and seems to turn smoothly enough. The only complaint I have is that when turning it is LOUD. For $20 I can't complain much.

Honest reviews on Fox Run Marble Lazy Susan

Let me preface this review by saying that the lazy susan is very nice. It functions well, and it's an aesthetically pleasing addition to any kitchen or dining room table. However, the lazy susan coming out of the box had a hairline fracture that ran from end to end and would likely have split in half given enough time or use. This is probably to be expected since it's marble, and the product has to get shipped through the mail. Amazon was great and replaced the lazy susan with no questions asked. The second one came with a tiny fracture on one side. Maybe the mail again? I decided to use a silicone based epoxy to fix the minor damage, and you can't tell there was anything wrong originally now.

I'd probably still buy this product again, knowing what I know now. The lazy Susan is that nice looking against my dining room table.

Large pans like this one need to be on large burners to keep their balance. They heat very evenly (no hot spot) they keep warm even after off the burner, so carryover cooking must be kept in mind, giving you the chance to finish other dishes while the one on this pan keep cooking in the pan alone.

Excellent product, I own other pans by Gordon and they are all excellent. I cook pretty much every day. Clean them right after use and they will last for ever. Very comfortable to sue handles. The best thing about them when it comes to money is that they are a high quality product for half the price of All-Clad brand, and they are built in the same way (high quality alluminum sandwiched between 18/10 stainless steel)

Vintage Corning Visions Visionware Amber 10 Inch Skillet Frying Pan w/ Lid
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I prefer a non-toxic pan for cooking which is why I purchased this glass cookware.

For cooking vegetables and items that don't stick really badly, the Visionware has been great. I use this particular pan mainly to sautee or steam vegetables and to fry bacon.

It cleans up nicely when you soak it and scrub it out with a plastic scrubber. I then place it in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.

I have used Visionware for about 22 years, including this frying pan. I don't know why Visions made a 10" and a 10 3/4" skillet but I have both sizes and I have several of each due to my tendancy to batch cook.

The frying pan has never failed or exploded on me. I use them once or twice a week.

However, there have been some complaints about exploding Visionware (Google is your friend).

Some incidents can be attributed to thermal shock such as running cool water in a hot pot, or placing the hot item on a cool surface, or putting the cookware on a heat source with no water in it.

Also, if you have chipped, cracked, or scratched cookware, it is recommended that you discard it. Be sure to check the tiny notches on the bottom of the pot. If there are any cracks emanating from the notches, I would advise you to discard the piece.

I would recommend carefully checking your cookware and discarding it if it is damaged.

You will want to avoid scratching it with metal utensils.

It would get a 5 except it's a little big for a standard size stove. I make it work and it is fine. Lay your pasta in without breaking and all underwater. Cook a large stew, or even brown up large amounts. It's a beauty and if you like large get it. And of course it is All Clad well worth the investment, made in USA.

A great size for soups, deep-frying (there is a fry basket accessory that fits inside) as well as stock and a multitude of other things. This pan is the same circumference as the 3 qt sauté pan, but with taller sides. It provides lots of surface to sauté things when you are starting a soup or other large dish. You can purchase the deep fry insert separately. I use it when making stock so I can easily lift the carcass and veggies out of the liquid at the end (it hooks on the side of the pan for draining the food). I greatly prefer the long handle on this pot to the small handles of the other stock pots since it stays cool and makes it easier to handle. Another advantage is that when frying chicken or other activity that makes spatters, the tall sides contain them pretty well and therefore keep the stovetop much cleaner. I don't have a lot of storage for pots and highly value the ones that serve multiple purposes. The price offered as of this writing is a great deal. Highly recommended.

Best Deals for All-Clad Stainless 6-Quart Saute Pot with Lid

This pan is a great deal at the discounted $165 price. I have used it for vegetables, prime rib roast in an oven, pasta, cranberry sauce, seared meat dishes, and just about anything I can throw at it. The pan itself is USA made, but the lid is made in China.

The large drawback is the weight and size. If you are of a smaller build and lacking strength, then this pan will be very cumbersome and problematic to move, especially when weighed down with the items, liquid, etc., being cooked. Also, if you cook small portions, for 1-2 people regularly, then this pan is also awkward to wash and clean.

However for families, holiday cooking, etc., this is a perfect everyday pan and will offer many years of service.

Honest reviews on All-Clad Stainless 6-Quart Saute Pot with Lid

This is a great pot. When I decided to move away from non-stick pans, I tried this All Clad pot as well as a Tramontina 3-Ply (made in china from Walmart 12 in frying pan), and a Calphalon 3-ply (also made in China 12 inch frying pan from Bed Bath & Beyond). The reason was that all got great reviews, but upon trial, I discovered that inspite of the seemingly same type of 3-ply construction, the All Clads are functionally different. The other brands stick, don't clean very well and don't heat as evenly by comparison. So, even though the Tramontina stainless and the Calphalon stainless were theoretically the "same," they didn't work the same. The All Clad is worth the money, and I've rejected the cheap Tramontina and Calphalons. Though the Tramontina & Caphalon were cheap, they were a waste of money. I've since purchased another All Clad 13" French Skillet. Love that too!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for All-Clad Stainless 6-Quart Saute Pot with Lid

Cook a lot, or know someone who does? If so, than this hulking, six-quart All-Clad Saute pot is worth the money. Yes, it's ridiculously expensive, and ridiculously overbuilt, until you get it and start using it, and realize that it cooks evenly, cleans up easily, looks great, and can probably be used every single day of the rest of your life and your children's and grandchildren's without breaking a sweat. It's nice just owning something built this well. You could say it's built like a tank, except they probably don't really make tanks this solidly. I bought this for someone special, and we both use it to cook wonderful food for us, literally almost every day, so clearly it was a great investment for us (mmmmm!)

Don't think it's just pretty though -this cookware is in all ways *practical.* I worried that it would be much harder to clean up than non-stick, but it's not. We recently made a sausage, beans, and rice dish that requires *deliberately* making a sticky goo (or 'rue') on the bottom of the pan, and then leaving the whole thing to simmer for at least 30 minutes. It cleaned up in less than five minutes in the sink, after browning the sausage better than Teflon ever could. Yes, we hand-wash to protect the finish, but it's not a hassle, and this particular pan wouldn't go easily into any dishwasher anyway.

We also like All-Clad because some (careful, not all) of their cookware can be used on induction cooktops, which is something we hope to have at some point in the future. This one is good to go with a ferrous (iron-based) bottom. As they say, if a magnet will stick to the bottom, the pan will work with induction.

If you don't cook much, or aren't sure you need a large pot like this, consider something else. But if you touch your cookware nearly every day, and want something that looks and functions beautifully, time after time after time, it makes sense to have cookware this good.

I'm thrilled with this purchase! Since I need to be gluten free I have found myself pan frying my own chicken strips (made with a gluten free blend for the breading of course). After a dinner like that my stove would be a nightmare of oil splattered everywhere. Similarly with bacon, my stove would be an absolute mess.

Now I just plot this splatter screen over my pan, let the oil do the cooking and quickly lift it up to flip them over. The huge mess is nowhere to be found when I have finished cooking.

This splatter screen is very durable, the mesh on the top is definetly going to stand up to very high heat for long periods of time. It's also pretty quick and easy to clean. I haven't had it for long, but have used it numerous times so far. I have read about other products that have started to rust after a couple of uses, that has not happen with this splatter screen and I do not anticipate it happening.

I must first start by disclosing that I did not purchase this particular set of cookware as a set. I just happened to see that the only review for it was very confusing and did not seem helpful. That said, I do own most of the individual pieces in this set. While I cannot tell you about the chefs pan, stock pot (I have the copper core version of that), or the larger saute pan, I do own the two fry pans, the smaller saute pan, and the sauce pans. I purchased my first pieces about 18 months ago and have been quickly adding to the set as Amazon.com, MetroKitchen.com, and CutleryandMore.Com have had some good sales.

One thing I have noticed is that people will mention in reviews on Amazon is that they got a "great" lightning deal on an item here, but won't say what that price was. I am happy to tell you specific prices. I purchased my set of All-Clad copper core as the 7 piece starter set when it was on sale as a lightening deal for $525.00 in November 2012. However, I already owned several pieces of the stainless series before I bought the All-Clad set. I have had the two fry pans and sauce pans in this set I am reviewing for well over a year. I also got the fry pans as lightning deals from Amazon for $89 and $99 respectively in mid and late 2011. I added the sauce pans earlier in 2012 for $99 and $109 via lightning deals. I just bought the saute pan on Metro Kitchen last month for $79 during a "cyber week" event. As you can see, if you have patience and are willing to wait for the individual pieces, you can eventually get them almost as cheap as the set.

I have also seen this particular set I'm reviewing as a lightning deal for $950.00, but I have seen it other places, including Metro Kitchen for as little as $920.00. Either the Amazon lightning deal or the Metro Kitchen price are excellent for this set if you don't want to wait for sales for individual pieces, but as I already owned most of it from individual sales, I haven't taken advantage of that price. Obviously this is a very expensive brand of cookware. I would actually not recommend purchasing a set outright until you have owned and cooked with an individual piece or two for at least 6 months. Each cook has their own preferences and you may find that what I (and many others) see as the best stainless steel cookware for home chefs isn't for you. Unless you're a trust fund baby or Google millionaire, it will be a sad day for you indeed if you have spent this kind of money and find it isn't to your liking though even a used set of these on eBay will fetch a good price, so you're not completely out of your money if you do find you don't agree with me.

Now that I've given you info on pricing, I'd like to tell you about how it has cooked for me. Until recently I was in an apartment with a very poor quality, low-end electric stove with burners that were horrible. A few months ago, I purchased a house and after selling the builder's grade stove I upgraded to an LG double oven gas range. The cooking experience for these two ranges were night and day. It was like going from driving a Yugo (electric range) to driving a Lexus (gas range). However, one consistent thing from both ranges is that my favorite (non cast iron) cookware is my All-Clad. I also own hard-anodized Caphalon, stainless steel Marcus Samuelsson (a full set), and some low-end cookware left over from my college days. The Caphalon is difficult to clean, doesn't cook evenly, and the lid doesn't completely sit on the pan properly. The low-end stuff (some Revere-ware copper bottom, some Faberware, and some no-name Walmart stuff) isn't even worth detailing, except to say within a year or so of use, most of it has warped bottoms and lids that don't close). The Marcus cookware is still pretty decent, with no warping and fairly easy cleaning, but it does not have the same level of even heating that I get from the All-Clad pots and pans. For the price, I would recommend the Marcus if you have a lower budget, but if you can spare the funds, the All-Clad stuff, especially the fry pans, are worth the extra money.

The best example I can give is cooking 10 steaks last Christmas for my family. I used my Marcus and All-Clad so that we would have all the steaks finished at once. I was using the old horrible, electric range, and the steaks cooked in the two Marcus pans were not all cooking at the same level and consistency, but the ones in the two All-Clad pans were finished at the same time, and a few minutes ahead of the ones in the Marcus pans. I ended up finishing the steaks from the Marcus pans in the All-Clad pans. I have tested the steaks again on the gas range recently. The Marcus pans performed a little better with the gas, but the All-Clad still had better results, with more evenly cooked steaks. (I deliberately used one of each pan to cook the steaks to see if the results would change with the better stove; there was improvement with both pans, but All-Clad still produced a better food product). Again, I'm not knocking the Marcus pans. They are the best I've found in that price range. But the All-Clad pans were a far superior product, with a much higher price. I bought my entire Marcus 10 piece set for about what I paid for two All-Clad pans and their lids. The saying that you get what you pay for is never truer than when comparing the two cookware brands. Of course nothing, absolutely nothing beat the results I got when I cooked a steak with my grandmother's 60-year old, well-seasoned Lodge cast iron skillet, but since most of us don't have one of those or the ability to steal one, this is about as good as we will get. My grandmother is leaving her cast iron skillet to me when she passes in what I hope will be many, many years down the road, and in the meantime I will "console" myself with these All-Clad pans.

Finally, I have seen other reviews of All-Clad (and stainless steel cookware in general) where the users/reviews bemoan their inability to clean the stainless steel. Three tips should help with that. First, when cooking, try to develop a fond (there are some good YouTube videos with instructions on this). Not only will this improve the taste results you get, but it will also make it easier to clean. Second, if you do find it difficult to remove food, soak the cookware in warm water with mild soap for an hour. That should make it a snap to clean. Finally, if you find you want that shiny new look you had when you first opened your All-Clad (or any stainless for that matter), and soap and water aren't cutting it, use some Bar Keepers Friend. It will not only work miracles on your cookware, you will also notice that if your sink is stainless steel, it's a little shinier too. I use Bar Keepers on my sink, cutlery, and appliances, as well as my cookware. It is well worth the very inexpensive price.

Update:

After talking with my grandmother and learning that she can no longer use her 60-year old, well seasoned cast iron skillet because of its weight, we worked out a trade. I am now the proud owner of the cast iron, and she's now using my All-Clad 3 quart saute/lid set. So now I not only love All-Clad for the excellent cooking results, but because I inherited something dear to me without losing my even dearer grandmother. :) Oh, and she likes the All-Clad too.

OK, this is a great set. Good price for all the pieces. Just be aware the one big pan is HUGE. does not work real well on my 30 inch cook top. but all pans and lids are good.

Read upon induction after we lost the burner and then the glass top cracked getting up a radiant heat cooktop. Induction info impressed me. Better than gas and more efficient than eletric competion. The pans are the best easy to clean; no scratching using soft rubbing. Must keep them lightly greased because it cooks so much hotter than all else. It will boil water in less than 60 seconds for small to medium pans two minutes for large. Loveit and cook much better. Smiles from all.

FYI, I do not own this set, but but I would like to just offer my opinion on a quality alternative product from Costco for $189.00.

However, this set may be way better, I do not know. Just saying.

Just go to Costco dot com and search for item number 559728

Good quality leather and stitching. I have never had a hot coal land on my chest; but if it were to happen, I would feel protected in this leather apron. Also protects my clothing from spills and has 2 nice deep pockets. It's not as heavy as it appears, so it's not a burden to wear it for a while.

I did not have an issue with the lower strap. I tie it in a loose square knot, which holds well and is not too difficult to untie to take off.

The top strap took a few minutes to figure out, but it has held ever since I got it tight. I just leave that one tied, and slip it on and off over my head.

I actually like the look and feel of the straps, but the loops for the top do leave something to be desired. Still, I was able to get it tied within just a few minutes and everything else about this apron more than makes up for that.

This apron was given as a gift for barbecuing. It is sturdy and well made. But, it is too heavy for a woman and some men.

Heavy, and hangs heavy off your neck. Would be good for a blast furnace. Perhaps a coal locomotive. Looks hardcore as a decoration.

I bought this apron for my boyfriend, who does all of the cooking in our house. While the apron is nice and heavy, the strap doesn't work. No matter how we loop the strap through the 2 rings, the strap ends up slipping out. We've knotted the strap around the rings instead.

I do some chuck wagon cooking and needed a tough leather apron that looked appropriate for a trail drive cook, back in the late 1800s. This one fits the bill perfectly, and is very comfortable. The size and weight are just right, and it is easily adjustable.

This is a great little pot that makes an appearance on my stove almost every night, one of the most trusted members of my kitchen artillery. The pot is sturdy and surprisingly heavy, the dimpled lid is adorable (whether the dimples add anything to the process I don't know), and the combo hasn't failed me yet. Cleans up handily too.

Cocotte, by the way, refers to a small pot or casserole; the word also has other connotations that have nothing to do with cooking. My cocotte has proven to be an outstanding "lady of the night," and you don't need to be a serious cook to get a lot of use out of this little charmer.

I am very pleased with this pot. I spent a long time comparing Staub and Le Creuset and ultimately went with this one because of size. I was surprised by how substantial it is, especially the lid. The picture displayed here is not what I received, however. The color pictured is "grenadine" and the pot I now have is in fact "pimiento". That is fine, it doesn't bother me at all, but Amazon would do well to fix this error. As you can see on Staub's website, both colors are reds, just different shades/brightness.

I have used this pot for several dishes already oatmeal, chicken, soup and nothing sticks to it. It's great!

I got this to use for cooking one-pot meals in the style of Glorious One-Pot Meals: A Revolutionary New Quick and Healthy Approach to Dutch-Oven Cooking. She recommends Le Creuset, but the quality of the Staub pot is head and shoulders above Le Creuset, plus the Staub pot is $40 cheaper---$50 cheaper if you replace the Le Creuset plastic knob with the accessory Le Creuset metal know, sold separately for $10. (The Staub comes with a metal knob.)

The Staub unit is better designed and more substantial and (in my opinion) preferable in every way.

I only use the low-medium heat and the soup boils. This size is great for 2-people family use.
