I was gifted a nice older stainless steel U.S. made Presto pressure cooker from a buddy who was moving. I was very happy to find a new ring and vent in one convenient pack here on Amazon. Great product at a reasonable price! The old used 4 quart cooker works GREAT!

This may be "irrelevant" to this review, but this older Presto is "built like a battleship" when compared to my 6 quart stainless steel Chinese made Presto pressure cooker which I bought a year ago. Both do the job, but it seems to me that it really makes very good sense to refurbish the older U.S. made Presto's because the stainless steel is of a heavier gauge and higher quality. The Chinese one works but it just feels "cheap" all around in comparison. Fix the old ones!!

My mother in law advised me that all she wanted for christmas was the sealing ring for her presto pressure cooker. My first thought was that I would get the best pressure cooker that money could buy....nope my mother in law loved her current pressure cooker and did not belive a new model would be better than her current one.

Where was i going to get a replacement part? I checked amazon and to my disbelief they had a replacement part. I ordered it and with my Amazon Prime it was here in one day instead of two. The part was easy to put on. It is a Presto part and not aftermarket so it fit perfectly. It seems to be the exact same quality as the seal that we were replacing and after one use the pressure cooker is working just fine.

I am glad that National Presto Industries (the maker of Presto Cookers) still supports their old products by making these replacement parts available. I was able to rejuvenate an old pressure cooker (with a stainless steel clad copper bowl). It works as good as new now. The gasket fitted perfectly. I'm glad I didn't need to purchase an inferior new product or an expensive aluminum model. If you're unsure of which gasket kit you need, look up the proper product at gopresto.com in their parts and service page. You'll need your old cooker's model number. I found it on my model 804 on the bottom of the bowl. The manufacturer recommends that both the sealing ring and the air vent both get replaced at the same time.

I have an old but good Presto pressure cooker. The sealing ring/gasket no longer sealed well. After searching in our area, no one stocked the gasket, but Amazon did!! After being told in several locations locally that the model number taken from the bottom of the pan did not exist(!), Amazon listed the number exactly and had the gasket in stock. It arrived promptly, fit properly, and Amazon wins again. I need to remember to look at Amazon first, last. Thanks, Amazon.

Both pieces you need for replacement are together and fit perfectly. Just make sure the model number on your pressure cooker, and the one you order, is the right one. What else can I say? Happy customer.

This little grinder does exactly what it says WITHIN LIMITS. The housing and handle are sturdy but the grating cylinders are weak and bendable. It is really ONLY useful for grating soft cheeses. Get too close to the harder end of good parmesan and it will jam. You will have to get out the pliers to get it apart.

That being said, I really like this little grinder for grating cheddar or a not-too-hard chunk of parmesan -much better than the box grater and inevitably scraped knuckles. You will still need a box grater and microplane for carrots, potatoes, and anything tougher. Hubby-the-dish-washer complains about the nooks and crannies cheese gets stuck in -particularly in the rolled metal edges.

It grinds the cheese ok but the suction on the bottom will not hold. It keeps coming off and making a mess with all the cheese. I would not recommend this product because of that one faulty feature.

Works with the soft parmesan I can get at the store. I am not sure I'd want to try it with a hard parmesan.

There is a tendency for pieces to get stuck between the wheel and the body. Not much you can do, except take breaks to get them out.

It grates very quickly once you get going, but you will want to grate a lot at one time, since taking it apart to clean it is a pain.

The handle is metal. Hopefully it will not break, like the plastic ones seem to.

You will want to have pliers handy in order to take it apart for cleaning.

The product description says the grater is made of powder coated aluminum. It is notit is powder coated steel.

The product description claims "Fine for hard cheeses, nuts and chocolate." When grating Parmesan cheese, the grater barrel dented and jammed when encountering the hard rind of the cheese. I would not attempt to grate nuts with it.

The end of the grater barrel is rolled. This area traps food particles and must be cleaned carefully with a toothpick.

The weld affixing the shaft to the grater barrel is rusting after one use.

Not recommended.

Another wonderful bundt pan by Nordic Ware. They have mastered the bundt pan market. I have several pans and all, including this one, bake evenly. Best of all they turn out of the pan in one piece with such detail. They look beautiful, there is really no special trick to get the cakes to unmold so nicely, but I have found that if I butter and flour the pan, then let the cake cool for twenty minutes before unmolding they come out great every time. You will only need a little powered sugar for decoration. I also recommend the star bundt by Nordic ware. It is perhaps a more stricking design than this pan, but, use both for variety.

I prefer Bundt cakes to layer cakes, possibly it's laziness, as it's easier to drip glaze on a Bundt and also it's a lot simpler to carry, slice and serve it when traveling to some party or event. Plus I rather prefer pound-type cakes to fluffier ones. According to a video from America's Test Kitchen that I watched last week, the name "Bundt" comes from "gathered" meaning, it's replicating a turban, a Viennese tribute to the defeat of the Turks. And like turbans, there are a myriad of shapes and sizes. This pan is a classic, but has a swirl design that is quite attractive, and it's full sized (9 inch) because some of the very unusual shapes (roses, for example) are generally smaller pans and while convenient to bake for a small family, the usual recipes I have are for the larger pans. And if I'm baking a cake, I'm going to make LOTS of cake. You can always freeze some, and in any case, cakes should be shared.

This pan bakes evenly, it's heavy enough to prevent over browning on the edges. It makes about 18 servings, depending on how thickly you slice the cake.

Here's the hint that saved me literally from punting the bundt pan into the trash after one cake simply refused to release from the pan, and after I'd have a few stick in places, able to be mended with glaze, but irritating all the same. Are you ready? Melt a Tbs of butter and mix it with a Tbs of flour. Use a pastry brush and paint EVERY crevice with this thick mixture. The cake will fairly FLY out of the pan after you cool it on a rack and then invert it. I never saw a cake jump out of the pan that quickly. Not a divot to be seen. Perfect.

I own four Bundt pans, and this is my least favorite. Even though it has the same capacity as two of my other pans (10 cups), the cakes from this pan look smaller and more compact. The detail on the cake is lovely, but the pan is a pain in the neck to clean. The narrowness of the ridges trap cake crumb, Baker's Joy, non-stick spray, and flour I have not been able to break the code of cleaning this pan easily. My other pans make just as pretty a cake, and do not leave me with any cleaning headaches.

This pan offers the high quality of the Nordic Ware cake pans. Be aware there are cheaper versions of this pan that are sold, they are not cast Aluminum. So they do not bake as well as this heavier pan does. This pan really produces the design well, and it produces it everytime. I always like to grab this cake pan, when bringing a cake to someone. It makes it look like you went to so much more effort than what it really takes to make a cake.

If you set out a snack tray for guests, one or two sets of these small plates is a perfect solution (or even more sets depending on how many you entertain.)

First off, though, is you need to be aware of the size or you may be disappointed. Six inches is about the diameter of a coffee cup saucer. Tiny by some standards, but not for snacks. Depending on your cultural reference, these are near perfect whether you call snacks tapas, mezze, antipasti, hors d'oeuvres ... or snacks.

Second, even for small gatherings one set of six plates may not be enough. Guests always seem to set down the first plate they finish and go back for more using a new one.

These six inch dishes appear to be a bit small, so are probably not good for a dinner salad but would be great for bread and butter or dessert. The rod iron holder is very convienient to carry the plates to the table for serving, but required some reorganization of my cupboards to store it all together.

I was going to get the individual place settings of dishes that matched these but it turned out to be less costly to buy this set of six 6' plates, a set of six 11' plates and the utility 20 ounce bowl set of six than it would have been to buy just four sets of the individual place settings.

I was worried there might be some coloration differences between the sets but there was not. Everything matched very nicely. The color is more a dark red than a ruby red, but that was fine with me.

Popovers are a tradition in my family, and when I could not find the old standby 11 cup cast iron pan, I was devastated. I wanted to get some pans for my children to carry on the tradition, and the cast iron pans are just so much superior to any of the aluminum "air" pans. I was worried that these Cajun Cookware pans might not be big enough. I took and a chance, and I was not disappointed. They are a little smaller but with appropriate seasoning, the popovers popped to perfection, and did not stick in the pan, even with the first batch! I also tried the six cup pans. They worked fine, but they are not as easy to handle when hot, and they are much smaller. I have since ordered another 3 pans, received them on time and in good order. For those of you looking for a good 11 cup pan for popovers, these work great!

I just got this and have already cooked chicken which comes out crispy golden brown on the outside and juicy on the inside just like it says it will, and pork bbq ribs, which I used to cook the pork until almost done, then switched over to my crock pot where I added bbq sauce and cooked slowly for 3 hours. PERFECT!

It's easier to clean than I thought it would be it really does just rinse out with a quick swish. I got this model because I wanted the manual control knobs rather than the digital and I have no problems with them at all. It is quiet, only the timer and fan make noise and they are both really quiet.

I was most surprised at how quickly and perfectly that golden brown crust formed on the chicken and the pork. I also cooked some steak fries and they browned quickly and cooked quickly as well.

I plan to get one of these for each of my kids to use as well.

A friend of mine has a Flavorwave Oven and he loves it. He uses it daily. After seeing it in action myself on several occasions and eating the beef, chicken and fish cooked in it I decided to get one of my own. I searched Amazon.com and found this Secura Infrared Tabletop Turbo Oven Pro S-777MH. It looks very close to Flavorwave Oven but costs only 2/3 and with a free Extender Ring. It has a five star review, though only two reviews. I decided to give it a try.

I have made beef, chicken, pork loin, sausage rings, chicken thighs and fish in here, as well as some veggies. The meat/fish/chicken is so juicy, flavorful with no fat or oil when it comes out of the cooker the first time. Re-heated in the cooker still yields a moist piece of meat, not like what happens when reheated in a microwave or regular oven. Processed foods like pizza rolls and breaded butterfly shrimp turned out perfect in about 10 minutes.

The glass bottom cleans easily in hot soapy water when needed; many times, a wipe-down with a wet paper towel is all that is needed to clean the inside sides. I keep a foil on the bottom, so that's easily removed and replaced. If you're cooking something really splatters, you can line the entire bottom with foil, up to within an inch of the brim.

The free expander ring adds a couple of inches to the height of this unit and makes it look very decent.

All in all, I am very glad I got it. It is an awesome, stylish and healthy appliance.

I bought this oven in July 2010 and loved it. We use it probably 2-3 times per week, sometimes more. I had a NuWave turbo oven for 3-1/2 years prior to the Secura and the plastic cover cracked. Since it couldn't be replaced we searched for one with a glass cover. I did a lot of research and found good reviews on this oven so I got it. Last night, I put in burgers to cook and when I turned the unit on it started making funny noises. I was still standing there but by the time I could reach out to turn it off it started sparking and caught fire. By the time I reached over to unplug it I had flames and smoke(at least the glass contained the fire). I called Secura today to notify them and see if it was covered under the manufacturer's warranty and they said "nope". That is all they would say!! I'm out $100 bucks for something that didn't work for even 1 year and the company won't stand behind their product. Even though the NuWave has a plastic cover I'm going back to it. At least it lasted over 3 years! This may have been a fluke but beware. It caught on fire so fast! I am so thankful that I was standing right there.

Received the oven approx. 8 weeks ago.

Shipping was OK, whole handling of order was w/o any problems.

I was impressed: nice glass bowl, whole setup of good quality.

One small problem I noticed initially : Cooking recommendation were in Degrees Celsius, but oven top showed Degree Fahrenheit. I would recommend that the manufactures changes that ( should be easily done).

First time use : cooked some chicken : cooking was o.k, meat came out juicy, nice browning.

So far so good , oven seemed to be as promised.

But then at second time use : .... nothing the lamp was not working/ no heat.

Contacted Lafraise , they responded immediately and addressed the problem. After review I received without any problems a brand new replacement unit. I am impressed and this unit now works works fine.

Some tips for convection oven cooking in general you need lower temperature settings.

I would recommend as a general guidelines to start with 325 F , then play around with time features and settings ( high or low rack) . It also helps to get a convection oven cookbook (if you never cooked with this type of oven before)

As a conclusion : the oven gets 4-5 stars as I use it as a second unit for smaller meals -

but Lafraise gets 5 stars for their customer service and this is for me the most important factor. There can always be a glitch in a manufactured product but this was easily solved as the company stood behind their product.

Ordered the Secura to replace our older Morning Ware. Love that it is made of glass instead of the plastic that cracks after a few years. Simple to use but the directions are in C and the temperature guage is in F so you will have to do some conversions. In case you do not know here are the formulas C = 5/9(F-32) and F = 9/5C + 32. I checked out the Flavor ware and the nu wave but they were a lot more expensive and were not made of glass. So far everything works just fine.

I bought this little skillet to use while solo hiking. Those ultra lightweight backpacking pans are not good for much other than heating water. This Vollrath 7 inch skillet is ruggedly built yet weighs only 15 ounces. I don't force-march 40 miles a day so the extra weight is acceptable to me. I like being able to cook in a pan similar to something you would have at home only a little smaller. The skillet is thick aluminum so it heats evenly. The sloping sides make it easy to use a small lightweight spatula for turning food, be it a large burger or a small pancake.

I would have given this pan 5 stars but the silicone grip on the handle was split on both sides. I was able to repair it with some black silicone gasket maker I happened to have at home.

A. You have the choice of 8 or 16 slices (ya hoo!)

B. It has a large diameter core.

C. The Core Blade is serrated, making it very secure (safe)... it "holds on to" the apple!

D. Once you've completed the core/slice stroke, you place the corer in its "lid", push down once more, and the slices POP OUT of the unit.

Regarding the one star reviews: With all due respect, this is one of those products that won't work well if you don't use it right. Contrary to what one reviewer said, the blades are not "too thin." (He or she stated that the blades were bent after only six uses.) YOU MUST PUSH DOWN STRAIGHT, FIRMLY AND SWIFTLY. This is precisely the same concept as in using a mandolin slicer. That is, no matter how much you spend on one, you can't slice things if you go too slowly. And just as with this corer/slicer, no matter how expensive the mandolin you can count on seeing several one-star reviews, almost assuredly blaming "dull" and/or "thin" blades.

There is NOTHING wrong with this unit: You simply have to LET IT KNOW WHO THE BOSS IS just as with many kitchen tools and gadgets.

Expensive but works great. Actual blades with a sharp edge help it work on solid apples such a Granny Smith. Slicing the bottom of the apple first for a flat surface helps tremendeously in getting the slicer completely thru the apple.

I received the item quickly. I used to have the regular size slicer/corer. It was ok, but this is great, it not only slices pieces the regular size but it also can slice them smaller which is a great option. The other thing i liked about this one is it comes with a plastic bottom cover which acts as a release for the apples....so u don't have 2 pull them out of the slicer all u do is set it on the plastic cover/plate (provided) and it conveniently pushes the slices/core out of the slicer. Would definitely recommend!

I eat one or two apples a day and finally got tired of slicing them by hand. After reading the reviews on various apple corers and slicers I chose this product and am happy that I did (after using it in the office, I ordered another one for home). Here is what I like:

1. I specifically bought this because of its ability to create 16 slices instead of 8. If you are not going to use this feature, then you might want to look at other products that cost about half the price that create only 8 slices.

2. Like many other slicing products for fruit and vegetables, this requires a good amount of "elbow grease", especially if you want 16 slices rather than 8. However, if you push down firmly and swiftly, this will work fine. The outer edges of each handle are rubber for greater comfort.

3. Unlike one of the negative reviews, I had no problem changing the setting from 8 slices to 16 slices and vice versa, which is accomplished with a plastic dial.

4. This has a cover that you can place on the bottom after you are done slicing. Push the slicer all the way down into the cover and voila!--the slices easily get pushed up for removal. The core is also easy to remove.

5. There are two sets of blades, which line up on top of each other if you choose the setting for 8 pieces. However, this alignment is not perfect (nor would I expect it to be be at this price), so that some small pieces of apple get caught between the two blades when you set this for 8 pieces. I found that I could easily remove them if I changed the setting to 16 blades after I was done slicing (so now all the blades are separated). This takes just seconds and is not a big deal. Cleaning tip for 16 blade setting: Unlock the blades as if you were going to change from 16 to 8, but don't actually move the setting. Unlocking the blades creates more space between them, and makes cleaning easier. When finished, just lock the blades.

6. This is well constructed, sturdy, and also is not hard to clean as one of the negative reviews suggests. I don't use any brushes for cleaning--I just rinse it under the faucet and if there is a stubborn little piece of apple or skin I use a fork to dislodge it (keep your fingers far away from the sharp blades).

7. I have used this on various size apples without any problem, though really large apples of course require more "elbow grease." I have also not found it difficult to line this up so that the whole core is removed (which can be an issue on inferior quality apple corers and slicers). Another review suggests cutting off the bottom of the apple so that the apple is level when you slice it; while this probably makes slicing a little easier, I have not found it necessary to do that.

8. Another negative review says that this product does not easily fit in a kitchen drawer, but I have no problem fitting it into mine.

Bottom line: This works just fine if used properly, and literally takes just seconds to have some nice apple slices.

Update June 13, 2011: This also works really well on peaches, nectarines, and plums so long as they are not too soft.

Update October 22, 2011: A simple toothpick works well to get rid of small pieces of apple on this unit.

Since I wake up earliest I pack the lunches of our 3 school age kids. The boys like apples, sliced, and to save precious time in the morning I felt that buying a slicer would be a wise choice.

Heck, who am I trying to fool? I like kitchen gadgets and slicing apples for lunches gave me an excuse to buy another kitchen toy.

America's Test Kitchen (Cooks Illustrated magazine) rated a Williams-Sonoma slicer as their top pick that slicer is exactly the same as this one, just re-branded. Overall I'm happy with it, though it's not perfect.

Pros:

Sharp blades, cuts through apples with ease.

Easy to switch from 8 to 16 wedges.

Removes entire core

Snap-on lid makes it safe to store in a drawer.

Cons:

When set for 8 slices, blades don't align perfectly so apple can get stuck in between them.

Locking mechanism can be a little fussy, sometimes it's hard to get the slicer to lock in one position.

At Williams-Sonoma they say to hand wash this slicer but I've been running it through the dishwasher without any ill effect. Other reviewers complained the slicer removed an excessively large core but I haven't found that to be the case. Prior to buying this slicer I was using the OXO Good Grips Corer (coincidentally ATK's top apple corer). I usually had to run the corer through the apple 2 or 3 times to get all the core removed this slicer gets it all the first time through.

It's a handy little slicer. It's not perfect but it gets the job done. The kids like the thinner wedges I get from the 16 slice setting most slicers cut 8 or maybe 12 slices. The thin wedges are ideal for apple pie as well.

These pots and pans are excellent quality and weight. They are better than the photo. They are beautiful. Please note, however, that it is not mentioned, but these are are "waterless" cookware and compare to the famous "Salad Master" cooking sets that are sold in home demos for $3000. These are very healthy to cook in...great recipes and info online but be sure this is what you're looking for. I don't know why they don't mention it in the title and descriptions. For this price it is an unbelievable value and much better than a lot of "name brand" stainless sets that are floating aroung at twice the money and up with fewer pieces!

I have been using it for a week, so far so good, no complaints. The steel heats really fast so food will be done faster than you think... careful with the pasta if you like it al dente. It also retains heat after the burner is off for a good while. I love it so far.

This is my second William Bounds combination salt and pepper mill. My first finally got too grungy and was ready for replacement after fifteen years or so of constant use. I couldn't find an exact style replacement and decided to go with this see-through version from Amazon. After using it for several weeks I'm sure I'll be equally satisfied. I really like the ability to choose fine, medium or coarse grind. The operating mechanism is of high quality and dispenses pepper perfectly. I doubt a finer grinder can be purchased at this terrific price and Amazon delivered it in record time, as always!
