I've only used my pan once so far, but my cake was absolutely beautiful and impressive. This design, in addition to being a lovely heart, and who doesn't love that, is intricate and classy...much detail.. Kids love it because it's a heart and adults seem to be impressed. It makes a gorgeous presentation.

I made a strawberry cake....used a glaze that didn't conceal the design and decorated it with fresh strawberries.

One caution, actually with any of the Nordic Ware "intricate design" pans, be sure and follow their suggestions for pan prep. You can check their web site. In addition to their instructions, I take a silicon basting brush and go over the entire pan, before turning it upside down to drain. Cake comes out with no sticking and cleanup in soapy water is a breeze.

I own several of Nordic Ware's bundt pans, and a general complaint that I have is that many recipes are geared to a 12 cup capacity and so many of theirs only accommodate 10 cups. I always wind up with a few cupcakes also, so just another caution.....don't overfill this pan. It's capacity may be a bit less that ultimately desirable.

I won't take any points away because it's a bit smaller than most cake recipes. I just wish Nordic Ware would make their gorgeous pans a bit larger.

This pan's shape is lovely, much cuter than Nordic Ware Decorative Heart Pan! There was no recipe included with the pan, so I just tried Lemon Pound cake () which turned out great. It is a heavyweight, nonstick pan that bakes evenly. Not a Platinum collection pan, so it comes with a 10-year (not lifetime) Warranty. The exterior is silver colored not dark grey as pictured here. IMPORTANT: Please note this is a 8-CUP CAPACITY (not 10-cup as indicated on the pan itself) pan.

I've made several cakes in this pan and they've always cook beautifully (at 325 f). Coat it with butter and a little flour, let the cake cool, about 20 min., and flip it out. I don't use much baking powder or soda anymore and my cakes come out without the hump, which I love. For a loved one any time of the year, this shape will be highly appreciated. You must decide on the cake no recipe. Anyhow, Enjoy! :)

Nordic Ware was a brand I happened upon several years ago when I spotted rust in my ( inherited from grandma) baking tin. I decided to shop online and saw the most stunning yet most expensive cake tin/pan I had ever seen. £30 for a cake tin (back then was an awful lot of money for a cake tin which here in the UK tend to be made up of dark thin metal or thin Aluminium and cost at the time around a couple of quid a fiver (£5), I grew up loving american retro design and remember wanting to bake cakes with my grandma's copper fish or jelly mould (though was never allowed) after plenty of oooing, uummming, and ahhhhing. I gave in and purchased that and the nordic ware book. As soon as they arrived I read the book, run out to asda (walmart) and bought some cups and spoons. I baked the carrot cake in it and from that moment on a Minimalist hoarder was born.

I have:

original

quilted heart: 8 cup pan though it does say 10cup bakes beautifully in an hour and doesn't stick as long as you grease n flour and stick to the 10min turning out rule. Perfect results every time. Though this pan is smaller in quantity it has a large footprint. I have an Anchor Hocking 4in1 cake stand and this at a squash will fit on the base with the lid on, but does not fit in the lid of my Kitchen Craft cake stand.

When it comes to great quality cake pans (platinum) Nordic ware have it in the bag. Can't big them up enough. I don't buy any other brand of bundt pan They are all absolutely fantastic, all really great quality far better than I have seen anywhere else. (though the inside non stick of the angel pan is not as good a quality as the others in looks but had not problems turning out a cake)

We bought one like this when we were working in Hamburg, Germany and loved it so much we bought another from Amazon. Easy to clean, non-stick, handle detaches for dishwasher or oven and unlike Teflon which can leach into food and be harmful if the pan gets scratched, this titanium pan resists scratches and does not release harmful chemicals if it does. We have multiple pans like this and love our other covered pot for oatmeal it never burns!

Another Woll failure. As with the other Woll pan I bought, it was great while it lasted but the surface has begun to fail after less than two years. At least it is a little better than the diamond finish pan, still usable to some degree despite missing finish. But not for much longer.

The pan was expensive, but well worth the investment. It is clearly the best pan in the kitchen. Very happy with this purchase.

This is very worthy investment. It's absolutely non-stick. I don't even have to put oil when frying eggs.

It's very heavy though. And 9.5 inch is a bit small even for 2-people cooking.

This is my second pan, I liked the first one so much, I ordered a smaller one for omletes or creeps. I love the fact that I don't have to use any oil or very little and it washes very easily.

You can cook and then keep them on warm all day if you like and not be limited to a stupid timer that shuts off too soon.. You can make Hot Dogs right from the freezer with this awesome griller...

I wanted a hot dog maker for a long time but didn't want to spend the $ because of all the mixed reviews on the different hot dog makers Amazon offers. But I wanted one so bad I took a chance on this on and let me tell you HOT DOG ! I do not like frying or boiling hot dogs I want them just like you get at a convenience store and places like that. Now I have that. Some reviews on different machines said if its round it will cook. So I tried sausage and bratwurst. Hmmmmmm GOOD. I don't like frying those either because I am not the world's best cook probably second worst (there has to be somebody out there worse than me). Because these items are curvy in shape I make sure they are straight when I prepare them for freezing (I buy in bulk at BJ's) with the Food Saver sealer I bought from Amazon. There was absolutely no problem making these 3 items. I will not comment on cooking time because I preheat the machine then after putting whatever I am making on the machine I just keep coming back to see if they look done to me. (Inexperience retired male beginner and too old to start learning).

Cleaning the machine is very simple which is what I depended on from the reviews. The tray pulls out and I just wash it with the rest of my dishes (by hand I have a dishwasher and all I use it for is a place for my frying pans to be near me in the kitchen and as a drying rack when the other is full). I clean the rollers and unit as suggested in the owner's manual. SO SIMPLE !

I have used this machine a number of times and am VERY HAPPY with it. I am considering putting those little meats balls for spaghetti on the machine but since I cut them into halves that wouldn't work. Maybe next time I use the machine I will put ONE meat ball on it for a laugh to see what happens.

If any of you would be so kind; if there is something else I can make on this machine please sent me ideas in the comments.

Excellent for cooking Brauts, but it take a little longer time to cook (about 1 hour). We will also use it in our camper when we go on our vacation this summer. I shopped around by looking at different models, and this unit turned out the best. I would highly recommend it.

While unpacking, I found the 1-qt. bowl was defective. It looks unpolished, hazy, opaque, not clear, see-through glass. There are also scratch marks on the interior surface. The rest of the bowls in the set look fine.

I immediately used Amazon's online returns/replacement option and obtained a free return shipping label. Then Amazon sent me an email, saying they would send a replacement set immediately, and to not return the defective bowl.

Thank you for your great Customer Service, Amazon.com.

Dunno about the quality of these bowls (now made in China, as most everything else, these days). Although the thick rim on the top of the bowls gives the appearance of sturdiness and strength, the bowls' themselves are very thin. Wish the walls were of thicker glass. I hope they don't break easily with regular daily use. I want to use them to melt chocolate over a sauce pan of heated water (placed on the counter, removed from the stove).

11/25/08 Update

Sorry 'bout my mistaken assumption, these bowls were made in USA. (see comments.)

I finally received my replacement set yesterday. That only took nearly 2 weeks! And, this set has a couple bowls chipped along the rims. The same size bowl with the haziness has a bit of haze on the new one, too, but it is clearer than the first.

Chips on the edges of the bowls. Anchor Hocking and/or Amazon really needs to figure out how to pack and ship these safely. There was no marring on the packaging. And not glass shards within the bowls or inner packing. So they must come from the factory like this.

Oh well. I have replaced the 1 bowl. Stuck the hazy, chipped set under the sink, in case one of the 'good set' breaks.

I do love this set! which I use every day. Every size imaginable, for prepping spices to mixing things up.

Just wish they would do quality control at Anchor Hocking. $30 a set is not cheap, why should the quality be?

Not sure how I survived in the kitchen for so long without these bowls. They are excellent for prep and even look great for serving.

However, I purchased them at WalMart for $16. Save yourself a ton of money and go buy them there. (Exact same set.) They are an excellent tool and will be used constantly in the kitchen.

I love these bowls! I don't know how I lived without them so long. They first came to my attention when I saw them on Williams-Sonoma about 3 yrs ago. I'm not sure if they're selling the this brand or the very similar Duralex brand, but I read all the reviews saying how great they were. Only in the past 2-3 yrs have I realised the benefit of proper prepping when cooking (esp. big meals) instead of just measuring out the ingredients as you go. And the various sizes of this set make prep and absolute breeze. They're also so simple, yet elegant (thanks to the lipped rim) that I also use the medium to large sizes for presentation at dinner parties. Great for presenting rolls, pasta salads, etc. And, given they're all microwavable, they're great for melting or softening butter in the microwave. They're also very durable (I've bumped them into counter tops and dropped them in the sink when my hands were slippery), which is important for someone that's clumsy like I am! And they stack perfectly for easy storage.

I honestly can't say enough about these. If they were oven-proof as well, I'd actually get rid of some of my oven dishes! But as others have said, GO TO WAL-MART to get them. Only $17! I think it's borderline criminal to pay this much online.

This Breville is a workhorse! I bought Jenis Splendid Ice Cream at Home book after I realized that the traditional egg based recipes weren't cutting it for my taste(I strongly urge others to do the same if ice cream is your thing).

This machine replaces my hardly used Kitchen Aid ice cream maker (the kind you freeze the bowl prior). We just didn't get along too well. I also like to make a few batches at a time which is prohibited by a bowl that needs a recharge after every use.

I was surprised how quiet this machine is in use. The controls are well thought out and it is built to Breville industrial-style standards. I found the included spatula useless and instead opted for a silicone spatula for removing finished product from blades and bowl.

Advice to those buying this machine Shave off 30 minutes of churn time by first chilling the hot cream in a covered smaller metal bowl placed in an ice+water filled larger bowl for 30 minutes. This greatly reduces wear/tear on the compressor and other components. You can chill in the fridge for a couple of hours instead.

I am extremely impressed with this ice cream maker.

I am a Breville fanatic and love this machine. Its sleek and elegant styling with abundant features is a true technical marvel. Why then is this machine soooo close to perfection yet only incorporates a 1.5 Quart capacity and not 2 Quarts. I realize this machine's closest competition by Cuisinart Cuisinart ICE-100 Compressor Ice Cream and Gelato Maker is also a 1.5 Quart but this single detail ruined the experience for me....well...that and the mixing blade with its twist and turns that make getting the ice cream off that much harder.

For comparision, I have owned a Cuisinart 2 Quart freezer-bowl type machine before Cuisinart ICE-30BC Pure Indulgence 2-Quart Automatic Frozen Yogurt, Sorbet, and Ice Cream Maker and recently purchased a new one to test along side the Breville Smart Scoop. After 30 days of testing, playing, eatting (and probably gaining 5 pounds), I found myself having to make a very tough decision...keep the Breville Smart Scoop OR Cuisinart ICE-30BC.

In the end, the Cuisinart ICE-30BC with 2 Quart capacity, simplistic design of the mixing blade, and ease of holding the canister while scooping ice cream into a bowl won. The Breville Smart Scoop 1.5 Quart canister is just too small (and too cold to hold) for me. In addition the Breville has a column in the middle of the canister that allows the motor to spin the blade. The Cuisinart has a perfectly unobstructed canister making cleaning and dispensing a lot easier. Another frustration of the 1.5 Quart capacity is when the machine has churned a lot of air into the mixture and it expands beyond the top of the canister... which has happened even using Breville's recipes with amounts specific to using the 1.5 Quart canister. While this can also happen with the Cuisinart, having a larger capacity canister helps reduce this. Of course, you will want to pour less mix into the Breville to eliminate this problem.

Granted, I would select the Breville any day if I were going to make batch after batch of frozen treats since the Breville actually maintains its temperature unlike the Cuisinart canister that slowly thaws and needs to be refreezed between uses.

I would be curious, however, to try the Cusinart ICE-100's specially designed gelato blade that incorporates less air compared to the single blade included with the Breville Smart Scoop.

Best Deals for Breville BCI600XL Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker

First I have to say that I paid over $400 when I got this at Williams Sonoma so the prices, as of this review, on Amazon are stellar (or maybe it has just gone down since it's introduction a year ago).

I have reviewed several ice cream makers, always looking for the holy grail to find one of ease in making, but the golden nugget of taste. Nothing beats this. Nothing.

For many reasons.

First, even if you cook your ice cream base for a custard, this has a pre cooling stage to cool it down for you (don't use it otherwise if it's not warm or your ice cream will freeze too fast on the sides only and stop before it is supposed to.)

More importantly, this is the only one I have found that whips up ice cream just like commercial ice cream so that it does not become a brick once you put it in the freezer and want to eat some the next day. The air being whipped in is what makes grocery store ice cream so light and fluffy. Hard to get in most home ice cream makers. This does it.

But, better, you get the homemade taste with no effort. All you do is push a button--you don't need to pre-freeze a bowl or add ice or anything. You just push a button. It becomes the freezer and the stirrer and everything in between. You can even choose a setting for gelato, frozen yogurt, and how hard or soft you want your ice cream!

Even better, you don't have to be there when it's done. If you are having a dinner party and want to serve cobbler with homemade ice cream, just pour in your ingredients and get it going--no need to worry about when it finishes as it will keep it frozen and cold until you are ready for it!

Some tips: I stir in my mix-ins like oreos or chocolate after it is done so they don't get crushed in the whipping.

Don't use artificial vanilla. It has alcohol in it. While you can use alcohol FLAVORS, using real alcohol will prevent your ice cream from freezing properly.

Whisk your ice cream first if it contains eggs then pour in. You may wind up with frozen egg yolks otherwise.

My favorite ice cream book is Ben n Jerry's.

The more cream you use, the faster it will melt at room temp, but the creamier it will taste on your tongue (using whole cream rather than milk).

Honest reviews on Breville BCI600XL Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker

I can't say anything about reliability yet.

PRO:

It works, the controls are easy, it isn't overly noisy.

CON:

It is heavy and bulky lifting it out of a lower cupboard isn't something you do casually, some grab handles would have been nice.

Not a huge capacity. At 1.5 quart (1 liter) maximum, you're making two tubs of ben and jerrys, maximum.

The bucket is neither dishwasher safe, nor do they recommend you put it in the freezer, or use anything metal to scoop from it. So you need a chilled container ready to transfer the desert after it is done. Although it does have a keep cool option if you know it'll all be eaten. 1.5 quart is what you start with but by the time you're done transferring, you've lost a bit more.

I think they could have been a bit more generous with the recipe booklet, but no matter there is always the internets.

This is the first ice cream / sorbet / gelato maker I've used. The rotary dial selects at what consistency the churning will tend to stop, it offers Off, On, Pause (for mix-ins), and keep-cool. That's basically it.

I have had many brands of ice cream makers ( Cuisinart, Kitchen Aid freezer bowl attachment and WhynterSno). This one is by far the best. It is so easy to use, easy to clean and makes the smoothest, creamiest ice cream ever! I think Breville has created the perfect machine!

I bought the Frabosk 8 3/4" and the 5 5/8" plate for use with my Electrolux Induction Range.

Pro's: They're very nice looking and very well made

Con's: Although they work, they don't work well. The heat transfer is v...e...r...y sloooooow! I could not get the toast for a grilled cheese to brown. I could boil water slowly. And the handles go through and are unusable while heating which kind of makes the handles useless.

When I got married my husband's grandmother got this for me because she had used one and because my name is Bethany. The first couple years I didn't bake or make much dough, but I just had it hanging in my kitchen and I loved it anyway. I was in college and working and had no time for messing in the kitchen. Now I have two boys and we all love made from scratch stuff-such as pies, pasta, pizza and cookiesso this pastry board comes out almost daily. I love it,I absolutely LOVE it.

It is a little faded after all the washes, and a little stained after 8 years with me (I am a very messy cook) but I love it even more than when I first got it. I recommend it it does stand the test of time with only a little 'love wear' after all the times I have used it.

I bought 2 of these pastry boards last year; they work great! I've had several other pastry rolling cloths in the past (made from cloth, plastic, and silicone) and none have been as effective as these. Lefse can be rolled out paper thin on these without creating a "stick spot." Clean up is super easy -can be removed from the wooden board and run through the washer, although usually just needs to be shaken out.

Best Deals for Bethany Housewares 20 Inch Pastry Board and Cloth Set

I used my pastry board last night for making lefse and it worked fine. My only reservation is that the cloth in the center of the board gave way and became wrinkled or crumbled.

Honest reviews on Bethany Housewares 20 Inch Pastry Board and Cloth Set

If you hate rolling out pie crusts, pizza dough, dinner rolls or rolled cookies because the dough always sticks or tears, do yourself a favor and try a lightly floured pastry cloth. You'll be amazed how much easier it is. I wouldn't attempt a pie crust without one.

You can improvise a pastry board with remnants and scraps you may have around your home, but it won't be as attractive or as easy to use, store and clean as this fine product. Anyone trying to roll out really thin pastry of confections must have a pastry board and rolling pin covers. This pastry board is my favorite.

I have used these nano-ceramic, eco-friendly non-stick, supposedly non-toxic types of pans that are now becoming more popular. They are in fact wonderful for the first few months, until the nano-ceramic coating starts to wear off and IT DOES. The first one I had cooked eggs beautifully with no oil, they'd slide off and the pan was a dream to clean. After a while the shiny surface becomes matte and everything starts to stick. Which is inconvenient, yes. But worse is that the nan-ceramic particles must be going somewhere (into the food?) and the material underneath increasingly comes into contact with the food. I had the first one replaced by the store (Bed & Bath) and a second one did the same thing. No more nano-ceramico for me.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I bought these pans mainly because I had health concerns regarding the Teflon on my non-stick pans (Chalpalon). After reading several articles about more health concerns, I decided not to take the risks and look for alternatives. I saw an Ad in La Cucian Italiana (I'm a subscriber and I cook A LOT) and went to Amazon, read (few) raving reviews and bought three pans. I was persuaded by the fact that ceramic is non-toxic and this who-ha-ha so cool nanoceramic technology and I said to myself this is the real future of pans. Ceramic is a great cooking material for 1000s of years. Those Bialetti scientists had found a way to attach ceramic to Aluminum [that we all know how great (but toxic) it is for cooking)

I'm writing this review a month and a half into using these pans.

The good

-Great looks

-Heat evenly and fast!

-real non-stick

-lightweight

The bad

The nano-ceramic coating on the Aluminum is really "nano". it is so thin that i don't think I'm familiar with a measurement unit to describe it. It is thinner than a paper. it is thinner than a hair. it is as thick as...I really can't find any familiar object that is this thin. If something will come to mind, I will add it later in the review.

Now, you probably ask yourself, how do I know that?

Because after two weeks or so, i started to notice small gray dots on the rims of one of my pans. at first I thought that this is a small grain of something. When I took a closer look, I realized that it is a small hole in the nanoceramic coating that covers --->> Aluminum.

Since it was on the rims of my pan I used the pan more until today, when I found a small hole in the coating in the middle of my pan.

Now I can tell you that the coating is so thin that you can hardly feel the hole in it with your fingers (you have to try hard to identify the hole by touch).

The holes are 10th of a millimeter in diameter, but they are there. On the rims (the top circle) I have many of them by now but I have only one hole in one pan in the center of the pan.

Now a word about me and how I handle my kitchen tools:

I never wash pans and pots in the dishwasher. I wash them always the same night after they cool down. Same is true for my knifes.

In addition, nobody washes my dishes! moreover, I only use wooden spoons when I'm cooking.

I can't believe that I was the cause for these mini holes in the pans.

One more thing to emphasize it is not a scratch just tiny holes. After say 30 days of real use. The real concern here is the Aluminum under the coating which is surely toxic.

There goes ~$100 down the drain.

I will not recommend this product to anyone.

Best Deals for Bialetti Aeternum Saute Pan

As many reviewers have said, this pan looses its non-stick qualities in a few months (3-4) even using low to moderate heat settings. This particular item is a waste of money...

Honest reviews on Bialetti Aeternum Saute Pan

I purchased the 10.25" version of this pan and for the first few weeks loved it. The nonstick coating is very easy to clean and I loved the color of the pan. However, less than a month after purchasing I too began getting chips in the middle of my pan. I emailed Bialetti's customer support to comment on this to them. I did not ask for a new pan, but simply was offering feedback, as well as inquiring about the safety of the now-chipped pan. The Bialetti representative acted as if I had demanded several free pans, asked for pictures of the defective pan (as if I would just troll the internet for unsuspecting cookware companies) and firmly stated that I would get a one-time replacement and that's it. She also stated I would have to ship my pan back at my own cost (!), although thankfully that at least went away when I sent pictures.

I did receive my one-time-only replacement pan, and it is not the same color (I really liked my black pan) AND it also has a chip, right in the middle of the pan. The poor customer service and the horrible longevity of the pan make this a no-buy.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Bialetti Aeternum Saute Pan

This is the greatest most convenient saute pan I've ever used by far. It cooks completely evenly and has a very solid feel to it. The insulated handle never gets warm. Nothing ever sticks to the surface, making clean up an absolute breeze. It doesn't have any of the chemical coatings whose safety has been called into question either, simply a ceramic nanotechnology--which I would call almost magical. All the starchy foods that were sticking to my other pans--potatoes, tofu, etcetera--get a brown crust but never stick. I rarely write reviews but this is the most useful piece of cookware that I own and I'm so pleased that I bought it after seeing a mention of it in my local paper.

April 18th 2013 I have virtually abandoned these pans--I now use only the wok out of the set I bought. Instead, I use the Wearever ceramic pan set. They seem much more durable and less prone to staining, retaining their white properties for a much longer period of time.

The part that is most impressive however is the quality of the steel. At home I use AllClad cookware. This product is not quite as thick and heavy as AllClad, but very close. This is not lightweight campware, but quality home style cookware that happens to nest. Highly recommended.

Bought the Magma for use on my sailboat, after looking at Cuisinart and Fagor, which are also good products it seems. I have been very happy with the Magma set. It is well-constructed, heavy and polished. It heats up quickly on my stove, and fits in the sink for cleanup. This set is basic, but really all I can see needing on a small boat. The handle is very solid and doesn't flop around when attached. And it all stores together in a nice stack 7-1/4 inches tall. Thought I might use this camping too, but it is too heavy to backpack would be fine for car camping though. Very satisfied.

The first thing you notice when these arrive is the heft of the box with only a stock pot, frying pan, small pot, and a couple lids inside. Magma cookware is made of very heavy gauge stainless steel, which is great for heat transfer, easy clean up, and also makes them impervious to metal cooking utensils too. These are primarily designed with boating, RV's, or camping, in mind. But the quality of construction they possess could just as easily be used in a regular kitchen and would last a lifetime.

There's really no downside or cons to Magma cookware. They're great for cooking, they're bullet proof, they're easy to clean, and the fact that they can be nested together to save space is a great thing if you're storing them in a boat or an RV were space is limited.

This is the best quality cookware I have seen. Simply outstanding. We bought this for our VW California and will have great pleasure using it. Also the service and packaging from Amazon is 100%. We ordered the set on November 27th and received it on Thursday 01.12. USA to New Zealand 4 days, not bad. Thanks a lot.

Well made. A bit larger than I had wished for for use on my sailboat for two people. Handle works well and can be stowed.

My son used this for the first time today and he loves it! The great angle of this silverware makes it really easy for him to use! Today was the first day and he already is leaps ahead of what my sister's kids were at this age.

My 17 month old toddler has used these on and off for about a month. They are a great size and easy for her to hold. The fork is just prong-y enough to stab pasta without being too sharp for learning purposes. However, about 25-40% of the time, she picks up her utensils with her left hand. The curve on the heads of these are specifically set for right-handed use. (Ok, it's adorable and somewhat hilarious to watch her try to use her left hand to scoop yogurt into her mouth with this spoon... but still... frustrating for her!) The plastic is firm and not adjustable. When she gets better at using utensils, I think these will be fine, but while she's still fiddling around and learning they're not ideal.

Pros:

Great quality

Carrying case (which is handy for all sorts of things, including take-and-toss silverware)

Good price/value

Dishwasher safe

Usable but not-scary fork!

Cons:

Really only good for right-handed use

These are not only cute for us adults to look at, but also, which is not mentioned on the package, dishwasher safe as long as you have a no heat dry economy setting. Easy for little ones to handle and maneuver.

My son is left handed (so far) and this tablewear curves away from his mouth when trying to use it. Not ideal. Hoping to find a lefty version of this product, but no such luck so far.

I received my eagerly-awaited Dutch oven a couple days ago and made some chili to try it out. It works great, with excellent heat retention... good for browning beef at higher temperatures, and bubbles merrily away even at low heat. Great for anything you want to simmer long and low for the best flavor.

An added bonus the lid from this Dutch oven also fits the Logic 10-1/4" skillet if required.

To clean, I fill it with hot water, boil a bit to lift the grease, then rinse with hot water and wipe with a paper towel, using a bit of nylon mesh from an onion bag for any stubborn bits, then dry and re-oil.

A couple notes:

If you receive a Logic Dutch oven and find a couple gobs of sticky, brown, almost rust-colored stuff on the handle flange, it is likely NOT rust. Because of the shape of this pot, the pre-seasoning process sometimes leaves a bit of extra, thickened oil in this location. If this is the case, it can be easily rubbed off with a fingertip, much like rubber cement.

The pre-seasoning is very effective, but the inside of the lid, well-designed to keep moisture inside the pot, is a vulnerable spot. Depending on what you cook, the inside of the lid will likely require additional seasoning; I only oiled the cooking surfaces and the first use (no tomato, but enough water to simmer the chili) removed much of the seasoning between the self-basting points. No rust, so it was a simple matter of wiping the inside surface of the lid with peanut oil and putting it in a 450 degree (F) oven a couple times. I'd suggest doing this to the lid before use, and any time the seasoning in this location appears to be thinning. I did not lower my rating for this, as its simply the nature of the beast, not a design or manufacturing flaw.

There are so few "cons" to this pot, it's hard to write a review that doesn't sound sappy.

I have a full set of Ultrex, a snappy modern line sold by a company that makes pans for many big names found in department stores. 55 year warranty, they work fine... But they're non-stick and I've started to worry about that.

Not long ago, a study came out that suggested eating foods cooked in Teflon pans left molecules of something or other floating around in the person's blood for FOUR YEARS. I thought twice about this and decided it was time to look into other pans. It might turn out to be benign but what if it isn't?

I was addicted to good browning, was used to it from Cuisinart pans and Ultrex. I tried Calphalon hard-anodized aluminum. One burning incident and that pan was RUINED, totally ruined, nothing would clean it.

I've cooked in this Lodge Logic pre-seasoned for a dozen meals now, meat and fish, vegetables too. I've used all types of fats olive oil, butter, corn oil. Tonight it made a gravy to die for using heavy cream and mushrooms.

You do have to get used to its different heating cycle. It heats up slower than some other materials. It cools off slower too. But it is fuel efficient and you can do a lot of cooking on Low.

My #1 demand was that it brown meat well. It does that SPLENDIDLY. Really beautiful. Heat the pan for 5 minutes on near High. Throw in two tablespoons of olive oil, throw in stew meat and it will brown in four minutes, magazine picture perfect. Stir with a wooden spoon. Throw in vegetables once the meat's browned. A few cups of water, put the lid on, turn it down to Medium for 15 minutes, Low for another 15 minutes -it will look like a magazine cover stew. Browning a roast is even easier -and you can put it into the oven after browning.

If I had to complain of anything, it would be that cast iron is heavy. I'm not sure how much of a problem this will be. This is still a small enough pot to handle for most people. You can roast a whole chicken in it so if that's the quantity you cook, buy this right NOW, you can't go wrong.

This was one of the first pieces of Lodge cast iron that I ordered. I had to admit that the price was the first thing that lured me in, but with that also came the questioning of quality. I was expecting a lightweight dutch oven, but being that I didn't have one, I figured I'd give it a try. The weight of the box it arrived in was the first clue to its quality. The entire piece has a nice weight to it, and the handle is sturdy and comfortable to the hand. I couldn't wait to break mine out of the box and make a pot of chili. The dutch oven browns beef beautifully, yet keeps it moist since it has an even heating surface. Once I added the other ingredients I was amazed at how nothing seemed to stick to the pot. Of course the chili was out of this world, but cleaning up was what I expected to be the payment for such good taste. I couldn't have been further from the truth as it was a breeze to clean up. I simply added hot water to the pot while it was still on the stove and let it simmer for a couple of of minutes. The water must be hot so that it does not crack the iron. Then I used a sponge to wipe out the remaining debris after emptying the water. The main thing to remember is that you should NEVER use soap on a preseasoned pan. I also spray the pieces with vegetable oil after using while they are still warm. An important part to pay special attention to is the inside of the lid. This has not been seasoned and with moisture can be prone to rust. A quick spray before cooking and after cleaning will keep this piece in great condition. I've made numerous pots of chili and beef stew, and the quality of the pan has had plenty of time to prove itself. Dish after dish Lodge has shown that they know how to produce quality cast iron.

Honest reviews on Lodge Logic Black Dutch Oven

Getting in the kitchen, and cooking is very popular these days. Especially with the advent of cable, and the plethora of channels showing cooking, and food travel (i.e. Food Network, Travel Channel, PBS, etc.,) people not only want to try cooking new things, but desire having the latest greatest cooking utensils. With that said, you can not possibly consider your kitchenware complete without at least a basic cast iron dutch oven, an iron skillet, and a cast iron fryer.

I don't care how much you paid for your caphalon, all-clad, anolon, or scan pan... NOTHING DUPLICATES CAST IRONS HEAT RETENTION AND DISPERSMENT QUALITIES! Some things like browning beef for chili, frying good old fashion chicken or catfish can be done with other cookware, but not even close to the same taste or appearance.

It use to be that cast iron was too much of a pain, due to the long tedious seasoning process. Logde Logic has not only done that for you, but whatever process they use, makes it work like nonstick, and cleans up with hot water and a nylon brush.

Cheap, Free shipping, and easily the best cookware you will buy, no matter what big names you have in the kitchen.

If I were stranded on a desert island with only one cooking utensil allowed, it would be a very hard choice between my Wusthof chefs' knife and the Lodge Dutch oven. I cannot begin to describe the versatility of this pot without sounding like an ad. Suffice it to say that it never leaves my stove top, except when I put it in the oven. Browning, braising, stewing...whatever, this is my weapon of choice more often than not (and I have a decent selection of pots and pans). Add to that the fact that abusing it on campfires only makes it better and what is left to say? As far as I'm concerned, a cast iron Dutch oven is the most utterly useful kitchen pot ever devised, and my kids aren't getting mine until I'm totally non compos mentis.

Sure this isn't going to fit a 30lb turkey, but hey I have an old ceramic coated roaster, and it is nice, had it for 20 years. One of my biggest issues with this pan is that when carying heavy stuff with the handles it has a tendancy to want to spill. And of course the ceramic coating chips easy. Well if you notice in the picture the handles are offset, well pick this pot up by the handles, and you feel a perfectly balanced pot that is easy to carry. I always like it when a manufacturer makes somthing that you need, and didn't even realize you needed it. With that said no other roaster is ever going to measure up. I would not buy it at the list price, but this pan is worht what Amazon charged at the time of my purchase of just less than that recomended by manufacturer. Will follow up after this pan has been used several times or so.

One WMF stainless steel roasting pan I received had rusty spot shown during using.( I only boiled water the first time I used my WMF pan!) I sent e-mail to WMF's CS to ask questions months ago, I have never got any reply for the issue from them. My WMF roasting pans look very nice when they arrived.(PS. I bought 2 pans.) Heavy but the size is not very big. Because of the rusty spot on one of my pans( My another WMF pan is still new, so I don't know if another pan has the same issue or not?), I can't give it more than 3 stars. For their CS staff. I have to give them 0 since I have never got any reply from them.

Honest reviews on WMF Stainless Steel Deep Oval Roasting Pan, 16-1/4-Inch

Bought this on Lightning Deal ahead of holidays and found a flaw in the interior finish. Amazon promptly sent a replacement (we received too late to use as planned for holiday meal). The second one is perfect on the interior, but has a flaw on the exterior finish. It irks me to think Amazon is selling factory seconds as "a deal" but I can't think otherwise based on this experience.

Otherwise, the piece is well balanced, perfectly level on our granite countertops (though the product literature says the oval shape makes that impossible to guarantee), and should outlive us! Haven't used it yet.

Instructions for cleaning direct NOT to use any abrasives on the interior, but to soak after use, then clean with a soft cloth/sponge. Can anyone who has this roaster tell me if that works just fine?

Recieved in a timely fashion. Very attractive. Have used twice and with good treatment this should last a very long time. I have many pieces of stainless cookware and if you clean well between uses it shines up nicely.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Ok, so PFOA is in everything...and subsequently in our blood. Not good. Read up on it. I'm not a total hippy, but I am trying. So we eat more healthy stuff than before, use natural products, go organic...but I still love modern conveniences (and my SUV). I get it, no microwave popcorn. But I really really really missed the nonstick pans. So I've been toying with whether or not to purchase nonstick cookware again. i got rid of all of my old pans and used stainless steel primarily.

This pan is awesome. The nonstick comes out spotless from the dishwasher. The old pans used to have water spots and white marks on them. I've made eggs, hotcakes, fish, grilled cheese...all good. No sticking. The pan seems to cook evenly and as advertised. It's been through the dishwasher multiple times. It still looks new.

Yay! I am so happy to have nonstick back in my life. No messy food to scrape off and fewer toxic chemicals in our food!

From Wikipedia:

PFOA persists indefinitely in the environment. It is a toxicant and carcinogen in animals. PFOA has been detected in the blood of more than 98% of the general US population in the low and sub-parts per billion range, and levels are higher in chemical plant employees and surrounding subpopulations. Exposure has been associated with increased cholesterol and uric acid levels, and recently higher serum levels of PFOA were found to be associated with increased risk of chronic kidney disease in the general United States population, consistent with earlier animal studies.[6] "This association was independent of confounders such as age, sex, race/ethnicity, body mass index, diabetes, hypertension, and serum cholesterol level."[6]

As a result of a class-action lawsuit and community settlement with DuPont, three epidemiologists are conducting studies on the population surrounding a chemical plant that was exposed to PFOA at levels greater than in the general population. If PFOA exposure is found to be likely to lead to an increased risk of disease, future liabilities for DuPont will be triggered. The first of these studies has reported that workers at this high-PFOA plant are at greatly increased risk of death from mesothelioma, diabetes mellitus, and chronic renal disease. Full results from the studies are expected in 2012.

How general populations are exposed to PFOA is not completely understood. PFOA has been detected in industrial waste, stain resistant carpets, carpet cleaning liquids, house dust, microwave popcorn bags, water, food, some cookware and PTFE such as Teflon.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a GREAT pan I love to cook and have been looking at differant pans and when this came up on vine I thought why not and I'm very glad! It does have a nice handel but what counts is how even it cooks as I like to make omeletts and this pan works great it heats up very even and cooks very fast I like this pan. I think I will look into a set.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is my third non-teflon coated frying pan. They all start out great, but after a year or so everything starts to stick. My first one was a disgustingly expensive one that kinda hurt to toss. The next one was cheaper but still spendy. This one is at a better price point. I believe the benefits of ditching Teflon are worth a little extra expense. The coating on this pan is very different, it's an almost rough, textured surface. I'm hoping that means different technology and better longevity. We'll see. The color is stunning, a deep wine color that just knocks your socks off. The edges of the pan are nicely rounded, it looks like a high quality pan and the handle feels good in the hand. The smaller size is great for the RV too.

Honest reviews on Ecolution Evolve Fry Pan, 9 .5-Inch, Red

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I LOVE this little pan! It has the look and feel of quality. The handle is soft and very comfortable, even for gnarly hands. I have several pans and small appliances which match the pan and were also described as "red" however I would say the color is more burgundy. Dishwasher-safe, unusual for non-stick. If it gets foggy from water or detergent it can be cleaned with vinegar. Can be used in an oven up to 350 degrees. Being old-school I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with that but it's what they say. I agree with others, it's just the right size for one or two people. Lifetime warranty. Heats evenly and cooks great!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I like this smaller frying pan. I am used to using a larger pan but this is a nice size for my husband and I.

I fried two grilled cheese sandwiches in it no stick. I then ran it through the dishwasher and seasoned it with cooking oil, as directed by the manufacturer. I then scrambled eggs no stick. I then washed it by hand because I needed it right away, seasoned it, and made two slices of French toast no stick.

I like that the non-stick coating is eco friendly PFOA free. PFOA stands for Perfluorooctanoic Acid, which is in Teflon, and is a carcinogenic substance, I guess. I'm not too savvy about the whole eco pan arena.

The pan is hefty without being too heavy. It is well-balanced and heats very quickly and evenly on my gas range. The silicone handle is a nice "touch," too.

I haven't used it in the oven yet but I will come back and edit this review if I have any problems after doing so.

I also like the color red so this pan is perfect for my kitchen.
