The design and function is a bit better than the T-Fal series, but the non stick surface on these will wear away with regular use just like the T-fal series does. Depending on your luck you may get some pans with a better coating than others. In either case, it appears all these types of cooking products last only a few years before needing to be replaced no matter what name is branded on them.

While these may have a better design than the T-Fal series, you will pay extra for that better design. As usual, try and get these when they are on sale from time to time. These are engraved with "Made in Italy"

I don't know much about cookware. Generally I just pick up pots and pans from Ross or Target at the lowest price. In turn, over the years I've grown used to having to open the lid of my pot after cooking something and dumping it into a colander, and heaven help me if I didn't have a clean one available ("I guess I'll just put something on the lip while pouring out the water and...no, no, don't fall out ACK!") After my well-worn pots finally gave up the ghost I decided to take advantage of my Amazon Prime and look outside of basic retail for a solution. I'd say I'm a coffee snob, and use a lot of different brewing methods, mostly pour-over (Hario) style. From a sheer quality-of-taste perspective, the Le Creuset blows them all away. The flavor is dramatically better, both black and with creamer. So, so good. The convenience trade-off isn't too bad, and I found it surprisingly easy to clean and the total process doesn't take more than 10 min. or so. Totally worth it. Buying another one for the office.

My first piece of Le Creuset and it makes delicious coffee. I recommend Trader Joe's Italian Dark Roast Coffee which is delicious with the press. Here's another hint .... after the recommended 4 minutes of brew time, push the plunger and cover the press with a tea cozy. (Look it up!). This will keep other cups warm..

I like it as it has a good weight to it, but the plunger is at times difficult to disassemble for cleaning, the upside it that it does come all the way apart and you can take the stem out of the lid. Best T-fal C8112464 Elegance Stainless Steel Dishwasher Safe 3-Quart Deals

Basics:

This pot is made of 18/10 stainless steel. There is an aluminum disk in the bottom to promote even heating. I have used it on a Sunpentown induction plate, and it works fine. I have also used it on a gas stove. It has an inner depth of 4" and inner diameter of just over 7.5".

What I like:

1. The stainless steel looks nice and makes me think that I am reducing my family's consumption of PFOA. I don't cook with cheese or other sticky substances, and the stainless steel will survive any type of cooking utensil. (I usually use bamboo chopsticks.)

2. Three quarts/liters is really a convenient size for small-family cooking.

3. The aluminum mass in the base seems to maintain heat better than my T-Fal anodized aluminum or brass cookware. By this I mean, when I cook dry pasta, this pot seems to return to a boil just a bit faster than the thick-walled aluminum pots.

4. It's easy to see through the glass lid. There is no moving open/close valve that I need to clean.

What I don't like:

1. Since the lid is flat, instead of domed, you need to hold it at an angle for a few seconds so that the condensation can drip back into the pot instead of onto the stove or elsewhere in the kitchen.

2. The pot lid handle can get hot. After bringing 2.5 quarts of cold water to a rolling boil, the handle (and lid) is so hot that it's uncomfortable for me to hold it for more than a couple of seconds (waiting for the condensation to drip off). (Update (September 2008): This depends on the type of stove you use and was based on the stove in one apartment. My induction cooker and the stove where I live now are both faster.)

3. After boiling water for an additional ten minutes (the time to cook dry pasta), the air-cooled pot handle becomes so warm that I cannot grip it with my bare hands. So, I'd prefer a phenolic handle. I don't use stovetop cookware in my oven, because the handles are too long to fit.

Summary:

I have used this pot three to five times each week for about four weeks. It's pretty much my favorite saucepan now. (I didn't have the money for All-Clad.) Other pots I have owned include: T-Fal 2.5-qt nonstick brass saucepan, T-Fal 4-qt nonstick anodized aluminum saucepan, T-Fal nonstick anodized aluminum skillet, Martha Stewart nonstick anodized aluminum wok, Anolon nonstick anodized aluminum chef's pan.

I bought this basically as a pot to make iced tea in. I had used a teflon coated pot for a long time, and the teflon was starting to flake so I decided to get a stainless steel pot instead.

I am very pleased with it's performance so far. I do not have a high btu gas stove, but boiling water on high on the large electric burner does not make the lid handle too hot to hold, at least for me. That said, it does get pretty warm. I like the fact that the lid is vented. The only concern I have is the cracks and pops that come from it as it heats and cools. It does make me wonder if it will shatter one day, but so far it's worked quite well.

The measuring lines on the inside of the pot are a nice touch, although I have never used them.

The only thing I think would make this better is if the lid were curved instead of flat, but it is a minor thing to me and not worth taking a star off for.

So what more can you say about a pot? For my purposes, it works. Hence, 5 stars.

I have always liked the Farberware cookware for over 30 years. The steel pots are perfect. I am not crazy about the non-stick ones, wish they had covers too, and a bit heavier. Besides, I don't care for non-stick surface as much because it could leave toxins after a scratch. I like the glass lids, they are easier to clean. The size of most pots in this set is fairly small which you may not realize from the size provided in quarts, but appropriate for a small household's kitchen. Overall, it's a pretty good quality set for the price compared to all those other brands with highly inflated prices.

I have owned my Farberware for 12 years and love it.It was made in the USA. So when I wanted to get cookware for my daughter, Farberware was my 1st choice.I ordered a "10 piece classic set" from Amazon(They sent it through another shipper but it came on time and was well packed)

When the set came my daughter cooked oatmeal in the small sauce pan for 3 mornings and noticed the finish on the bottom of the pan was chipping off I called the plant and they said that they would replace it. Before I could send it back we used one of the larger pans and noticed it had a small chip in the bottom and was discolored on the sides and bottom. I looked for the warranty which said it was "limited lifetime" but didn't cover discoloring and a lot of other things. This was STAINLESS STEEL. It didn't say what was meant by "lifetime" so I guess it was the lifetime of the pan, which was 3 days in this case.I then checked to see where it was made and it was Thailand. I called the plant again and they don't make anything in the USA anymore.I boxed it all up and returned it.I learned most cookware is made overseas now, so I don't know what to buy. But it won't be Farberware. It is a bunch of junk! I'm hoping some other factories overseas are better, they couldn't be any worse.

Have a number of odd-ball or miscellaneous pots and pots? You want a lid for it, but it either never came with one or you have lost it. Your savior is at hand. I have been using mine for years, and is pretty beat-up and abused. The fit is kinda awkward for smaller pans, the fit is usually rather loose, plus it will not fit 12 inch skillets. Still, I love mine and would never give it up.

You might want to consider another brand that will cover a 12 inch pan.

I ordered two, and both came pre-dented. LOL Anyway, the lid is aluminum, so I expected it to be on the flimsy side. Although I think $5 would be a better price than the price I paid for. In any case, it gets the job done. I have a couple of 8" pan and a few 6" pots, and this lid works nicely with all of them. They're surprisingly easy to clean too; different than the aluminum I'm familiar with.

This is a wonderful electric kettle! I followed the instructions when I bought it and cleaned it as such and I do not have any issue with smell or taste in my water. I just now boiled water put it in a cup and I'm drinking it. It tastes like hot water. I do use FILTERED WATER because when you BOIL NASTY TAP WATER it tastes LIKE NASTY TAP WATER. I use my electric kettle for cooking but mostly for coffee and tea. I am very hard core with my coffee brewing specific beans in different methods and this kettle does not alter flavor in any way.

I would give this a five star review if it didn't boil a bit longer than it should. I do not notice a loss in water but I think it could shut off a few minutes early.

My previous kettle of 6 years, the Phillips Essence, finally keeled over so I picked up a Breville one simply based on the reputation of the brand. So far I like it.

The water is quick to boil and the construction of the kettle itself is pretty good also it doesn't look bad at all. I thought about getting the stainless steel one but its heavier and more expensive. The lid opens smoothly with a touch of the button on the handle so there's not any pulling involved which is great.

My only gripe is that it doesn't have a chime for when the water is done boiling. Not a huge deal but still a small inconvenience, usually Breville thinks about those small things and does something about it.

Now if this lasts me for like 5+ years I'll be truly a happy customer.

I bought this as a gift for my parents, it is slightly different from the one pictured. It says "BPA Free" on the plastic window of the kettle. It works great, the switch lights up when in use, and the water boils quickly, there is no chemical odor or taste from the water. They followed the directions, washed it and boiled a full pot, then threw out that water before they used it for drinking.

When I first got this pan I absolutely loved it. It performed absolutely amazingly, eggs slid, nothing stuck, just as advertised. Sadly that did not last after a couple of months of use the surface deteriorated and now everything sticks. This in spite off the fact that metal had never touched the pan, always hand washed with soft sponge or paper towel, re-seasoned etc. This is a wonderfully promising technology that just isn't quite ready yet. You see many wonderful reviews of this technology by all manufactures but I suspect all were written during the first uses honeymoon period. If you read the lower rated reviews you find a common theme that the coating breaks down after 60 to 100 uses and the pans become a sticking nightmare. A black sheen develops and starts spreading over the surface that appears chemically bonded and impossible to remove and the pan becomes unserviceable. Again this is constant with all manufactures. The process presently is inherently flawed and a breakthrough is needed to correct it.

I love this pan so much I bought one for my boyfriends mom for mother's day. It is truly non-stick. There is literally no need for any oil or butter except to taste. The pan cleans with some warm water, soap and a spong. You will NEVER have to scrub it. I put a piece of cheese in the pan just to test it and it peeled right up. I chose this fry pan based on the review of a user who updated his review multiple times over many months. It arrived well packaged and in a timely manner. It has a nice feel to it and I like the size. The vented glass lid is marvelous. The layers of coating seem to be continuous. The entire pan is uniform, inside, sides, and bottom. It's sturdy and I like the weight and balance of it. I bought the iSi utensils to use with it as recommended by the aforementioned user. They work great with the pan. Clean up is easy. I know they say non stick pans only last a few years. I can easily see this pan lasting many years and much longer than a few years. My previous frying pan lasted about 20 years. It looks like it went through a war, thus this replacement. I highly recommend this fry pan. There is nothing about it that I don't like.

This is the very best pot and sauté pan I have ever owned! I recently moved last year into a new home and the kitchen has a glass top stove. I was frustrated for months because my old copper bottom cookware would not cook properly on the glass top stove. The pan would rock after it heated up and it took almost a half hour just to boil water. My Corning Ware was not much better. The only pan I already had was my cast iron fry pan and it worked well for cooking eggs and frying things.

After much research and lots of comparisons, I chose the True Induction Stainless Steel Multi-ply Gourmet cookware. Yes, it is expensive but is worth every penny I spent on it and I will treasure it forever. I can boil water in no time and cook much faster and no longer hate my glass top stove. I've been wanting this set for some time. I must mention, the actual color seems more like a Burgundy oppose to that salmon-ish "red" as pictured. I prefer this burgundy-ish color, it coordinates better with the PD speckled red pots, so I was pleased either way. The wood handles are really nice and comfortable, I have other PD wood utensils that I only hand wash.

I took two stars off for the larger spoonula, the silicone feels less firm than I had expected. It's so thin/flimsy I'm afraid it might eventually rip or tear at the tip. Since they are supposed to be able to withstand some heat, I was hoping to use the larger for counter top cooking (mash potatoes, macaroni & cheese, ground beef, rice, eggs, etc). I can still do that, but I think I'll just stick to scraping cold soft mixtures just to see how they hold up for now. However, I'm still glad I purchased them.

If the wood shows a bit of wear use some mineral oil to liven up the wood.

They are great when you want to get the last of the macaroni and cheese from the dish or stubborn lasagna from the edges of the pan, even while it is still hot. The spoon spatula makes a great tool for stirring and scraping, even tasting. The heads do NOT melt when exposed to the hot food. Most of the newer pots and pans come with a non-stick coating and these spatulas work extremely well as they do NOT scratch the coatings. Cake batters don't stand a chance of sticking to the sides of the batter bowl, as you can pretty much clean them out with the spatula before washing. Washing this set of spatulas is a breeze, they come clean with a gentle washing.

These are so flimsy they are not useful for much of anything other than liquids. The handles are excellent, but the silicone part is thin, too flexible, and not good.

Love them. The shorter one could be a little longer, though. Mostly use the larger one for heavier jobs in taller pots. Nice looking, very sturdy and easy to clean/maintain.
