We had to return this item when it turned out the bracket was actually 9" deep instead of the description that says 8" (it did not fit in the space in our kitchen). It's quite a hefty pair of brackets and no complaints about build quality here. It just didn't work for us because the product description was off.

Summary of measurements in case these will help someone:

Depth: 9" (not 8")

Height: 10" (not 10.5")

Width: 1.5"

Thickness of the metal: between 3/16" and 1/4"

Vertical distance between pre-drilled screw holes: 8.75"

Length of included screws (both wood and drywall with anchors): 2" deep

We have a big family and wanted a waffle maker. We wanted a Big Big waffle maker. Mom does not want to make any child wait for their waffles. Unfortunately, the seemingly biggest waffle makers had review that said they cooked un-evenly (because of their square shape) and were hard to clean if they spilled.

We settled for this medium large waffle iron and were very happy. It cooks large waffles so fast, we can cook waffles faster than three children can eat them and actually have left-overs to freeze. Two waffles are enough even for the most ravenous child. The cooking is very even and it is really nice to have both the controls for darkness and for texture. Waffles do cook a little more slowly if the control is set to even texture, but we prefer the crunchy outside texture setting better anyway.

The iron is easy to use, cleans up well, directs spills away from the controls, and heats up quickly. Seems sturdy, but let us use it a year or two to see how it wears with time.

The waffles freeze and recook well, though we suggest using wax paper between them in large stacks. No more Eggos.

I got this as a gift for my wife who likes heart shaped things and secretly I wanted a nice waffle maker too. I've tried a few different waffle makers, Belgian and the smaller grid traditional ones. Not a big Belgian fan, and the smaller traditional waffle irons I tried seemed better at making waffle crackers.

However the M840... wow! My wife and I made a bunch of waffles our first day. We tried all the settings to see which we liked best. There are two controls... a dial (1 to 5) to dial in your brown-ness level, and a switch that toggles from a more evenly softer waffle to a more crispy waffle. The softer waffles reminded me of the waffles you'd get at Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles (for you SoCal people out there). I preferred the more crispy setting.... crispy on the outside and still tender on the inside. Not crispy and dry like some cheaper waffle irons I've tried.

The iron takes a few minutes to warm up, but once it reaches its optimal temperature it cooks waffles in about 90 seconds or so. One ladle scoop of batter was the perfect amount to avoid any leaks of batter out of the iron.

The hearts break apart easily, would be great for small kids when you want a smaller portion.

We tried freezing some waffles we made and then used a toaster oven the next morning to warm them up and had great results. My wife said the reheated waffles were just as good if not better than the fresh ones.

The only downside to this waffle iron is the size of the waffle... its a little on the small side. Where I might eat two waffles from other waffle irons, I would probably eat three from this one. Not really a problem since the M840 cooks them pretty darn quick.

Cord can be folded and tucked into the bottom of the iron's base when storing.

Coming from the country of Norway our family have been raised on waffles. Since arriving in the US we have been through several and having worn out the last one, we went on the internet to check out the ratings for a new one.

We have had our Chef's Choice M840 WafflePro iron for 6 wks now, and love it! At first we had problems with spillage as this iron takes less batter than our previous one. We have adjusted and find that we get perfectly made waffles every time. We had planned to buy two (as we often have guests over and need to be able to keep up with the demand), but wanted to try one out before we comited to the other. We have scrapped that idea as this iron's turn-around is so efficient that we have no problem satisfying the demand. The iron is easy to clean and has logical controls and alerts.Chef's Choice M840 WafflePro Five of Hearts

Honest reviews on Chef's Choice M840 WafflePro Express Waffle Maker, Traditional Five

My husband loves waffles. He likes them crisp on the outside, moist on the inside. With my 25-year old GE waffle iron, I'd make extra-large batches once every two months and freeze them for reheating them, on demand, one-by-one in the toaster oven. Alas, I dropped the GE, broke it's handle, and decided that it was time for a new waffle iron.

I did my homework. I checked out equipment reviews on Cooks Illustrated and read all of the reviews for every non-Belgian waffle iron here on Amazon. This Chef's Choice M840 won the day. Here are the reasons why I hate it and am sentencing it to Goodwill after only a week and two waffle-making attempts.

1. It's extremely easy to overfill. After a few attempts at calibrating the pour, I started to get it right. BUT see #2.

2. It's virtually impossible to clean. No part of this waffle iron is detachable nor can any of it be put under water. As a result, when the buttery batter oozes all over the machine, there is no way to get it out of the cracks and crevices of the machine. In addition, little crumbs linger in the clover-shaped iron plates and, short of getting out my vacuum cleaner to remove them, they were still there the second time I used the machine. Ick!

3. As another reviewer pointed out, the paint is very cheap. On the first paper-towel rubdown (I cannot in good conscience call it a cleaning), the paint for the directional copy rubbed off.

4. (This is a good point.) The waffles cook fast. (BUT, see #6.)

5. (This is another good point.) The maker has a "ding" to notify you when the waffle is done.

6. (This is the death sentence.) It makes really skinny waffles. (I'm not talking about the clover shape. I'm talking about the depth of the waffle.) Belgian waffles for us are about two times too thick for us. On the other hand, these waffles were about half as thick as the ones we've come to think of as "normal". It's OK when you eat them straight from the waffle-iron; however, after freezing and reheating in a toaster oven, they have the consistency of crackers.

I'm so sad.

I had to come up with a replacement waffle iron for a cheap Salton WM7YL after my ex-wife got that one as part of our split-up, and I like thin Scandinavian style waffles as opposed to the thick style many people are used to. I fired up the Chef's Choice WafflePro M840 this morning and got a close-to-my-specs waffle on the first try. A few tweaks of the settings and perfect waffles were coming out. After the initial "PAM-ing" that is recommended by the manufacturer, it appears that the non-stick grill coating coupled with the butter in the waffle mix makes the non-sticking self-sustaining without any additional oil. The audible beeper that tells when the waffle is done has just the right number of beeps to get your attention if you're doing something else, but not too many to be annoying. Cheaper waffle irons are available, but quality is always worth paying for in the long run. The iron is 1100 Watts and is engineered in Germany and produced in China, of course. I don't think anybody will be disappointed if they buy this gem.

Cheap Nespresso Aeroccino Plus

Nespresso Aeroccino Plus
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
I really love it! You fill cold milk into it, push the button and after about a minute you get warm and very stiff cappucino-milk foam.

The newer Aeroccino Plus is an improved version of the older Aeroccino (no plus). It works great and honestly there is no reason to buy the old Aeroccino anymore (i own both)!

The Plus is larger, the milk doesn't burn to the floor of the kettle anymore, it can now be submerged into water (but no dishwasher!) and it can also do cold milk foam which looks great and stiff (hold the switch for about 2 seconds the light turns blue instead of red).

Finally cleaning is really easy and can be done with water, sometimes a little soap and with the hands there is no burned milk anymore (as with the old version). They also improved the coating so nothing sticks anymore.

If you love cappucinos or cafe-lattes, get one!

We bought the Aeroccino Plus with a Citiz 110 Nespresso machine. We love both, but the Aeroccino Plus might be the better buy. We strongly recommend the Aeroccino, no matter what kind of coffee machine you have.

The Aeroccino froths milk either hot or cold, and has two attachmentsa wire whip that produces a whole lot of stiff foam for cappuccino, and a plastic mini-paddle that produces whipped milk with less, but richer, foam for lattes. We prefer the latter lattes.

It heats milk quickly and silently, and the froth is just great. You store the attachment you don't use in the lid, where it is held on by a clever magnet.

Clean-up is a breeze. The no-stick interior works really well-no burnt milk, only a little foamy residue to rinse out. Cleaning is a three second job.

Our only minor quibble is that the milk heats nicely, but it could stand to be just a little hotter. It would be nice to be able to adjust the temperature. We also wish that the Citiz Nespresso machine had a temperature adjustment control-it needs one more than the Aeroccino.

This is a great product, and we are very pleased with it. It is a little pricey, but probably worth it. The bottom line is that it is a great little appliance if you enjoy delicious, easy-to-make lattes or cappuccinos.

UPDATE: 7/24/2010. Our aeroccino died after about three months. We treated it with kid gloves-it has never been immersed and had never been in the dishwasher. Nespresso said the problem might have been leaving the mug on the base unit, although the owners manual does not say anything about that (it does say that you should not store the mug on the base if you are not going to use it for an extended period of time, but we use ours every day). This indicates a certain fragility to the product, if not a design flaw.

Because of the premature death of our aeroccino, I deducted one star from my initial five-star rating. The good news is that Nespresso was very good about respecting the warranty, and sent us a new unit immediately w/o any fuss at all. We don't have to return the old unit, which is good in terms of cost and convenience. They asked us to recycle it, if possible, which happily is no problem here. It really is a nifty little machine, so we are hoping that the replacement proves to be more durable.

UPDATE II: 8/2011. Our replacement aeroccino is still going great after a year. We no longer store it on the base unit, which is mildly irritating, but otherwise we still love it.

Best Deals for Nespresso Aeroccino Plus

I received my Aeroccino Plus on Friday and have been testing it the last couple of days. I'm an experienced barista and take my espresso, latte and cappucino seriously. First, you can't beat a traditional manual espresso maker with a good steam wand. Using the steam wand on my machine, I get good consistent micro foam which brings out the natural sweetness of the milk. The trouble is that it takes a good 2 to 3 minutes each time which adds to prep time in the mornings before work. Also, when you're having a party and everyone wants a cappucino, I spend more time in front of my espresso machine than with guests. I wanted to try the Aeroccino plus as an alternative knowing it couldn't replace the steam wand on my Ms Silvia.

Aeroccino Plus comes with 2 milk "stirrers" spun by a magnet under the bottom of the insert. One stirrer is whisk-like which whips air into the milk for a thick foam used in cappucinos and the other stirrer is just a paddle which incorporates minimal air while the milk is being heated. The big plus is that time is reduced dramatically. In less than one minute, the milk is frothed and heated which cuts down on prep time. The frothing is not bad but as suspected not quite micro bubbles. Using the whisk like stirrer, the milk comes out rather thick...good for cappucinos. The one criticism I have is the capacity of the machine. The holder is marked with 2 levels (one for each stir application). The first time I used it and filled to the lower level and stirred with the whisk stirrer, I found you could not put the lid on because soon after the stirring started, the milk over flowed and spilled out. This means you can add barely enough milk for a single shot. The second time I tried it, I filled it to the higher level marked for the paddle stirrer. The milk heated fast but the micro bubbles didn't quite happen...the milk came out a little thinner than ideal. But overall, for the convenience and speed, I really can't complain. I've resigned to use the convenience and quickness of the Aeroccino plus on week days when I'm rushing for work but sacrifice a little on quality. Then on weekends when time is not as much as an issue, I'll go back to the manual steam wand on Ms Silvia for my perfect latte. I know the Plus has a higher capacity than previous version but I would have liked to have just a little more capacity.

Honest reviews on Nespresso Aeroccino Plus

I just received the Nespresso Aeroccino Plus for Christmas and I agree with all of the previous reviews. This milk frother is amazing! I have used a La Pavoni espresso maker for years and the steam wand has worked just fine. However, the Aeroccino Plus has several advantages over a steam wand. I add a shot of flavored syrup for cappuccinos to skim milk before I froth it. Now the foam is flavored which tastes like whipped cream and has the same consistency. The manufacturer recommends whole or semi-skimmed milk which may work even better. The foam does not collapse as with a steam wand. Also, since I am not using steam to froth the milk, I can make three more espresso drinks before I need to refill the La Pavoni. I am able to make espresso drinks more efficiently and faster since I do not need to spend time steam frothing. The milk is frothing automatically at the same time the espresso is being made. The Nespresso Aeroccino Plus will also froth soy milk if you are so inclined, better than the most experienced barista. I froth with the lid off making the clean up easier because now there is no need to clean the top or the lid seal. The milk is very hot and does not spill out the top. I bought the Nespresso on Amazon not just because of price but also because I could not find it in any mall store or coffee shop. It is not a kitchen gadget and retailers are making a big mistake by not stocking this well designed and elegant product. It is worth the money and I recommend it highly.

Update 09-19-10: Just frothed Almond Milk and it worked perfectly. I have had zero problems with the Aeroccino Plus and it still looks like new. It never burns the liquid and clean-up could not be easier. All the Best!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Nespresso Aeroccino Plus

The new Plus version is a significant improvement over the original and a real pleasure to use. It's froth is more dense and with much less unfrothed hot milk. It's much easier to clean and has additional features (cold froth for iced versions, and the whisks have a handle so it's easier to remove/insert). The surface no longer causes milk to stick and get brown as in the original, so it's much quicker and easier to clean. Major improvement: the base is now sealed and waterproof, so one doesn't need to worry about getting water on it when cleaning, though it's not dishwasher safe, but there would never be a need to use a dishwasher. I haven't had it long enough to have any problem, nor do I anticipate any on this one, though I had many problems with the original. To be safe, it would be wise to buy it from Nespresso directly, or be sure it's registered with them in some way, so their warranty allows a simple exchange if it does malfunction.Nespresso 3192US Aeroccino Plus

Reviews of All-Clad Stainless Tongs

All-Clad T112 Stainless Steel 12-Inch Locking Tongs Kitchen Tool, Silver
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars
Buy Now
This is the perfect tool for moving and turning over items (such as meats) because you get better grip and leverage than you would using a spatula. I also use it for manipulating items in large bowls when I'm marinating, coating, etc. The "locking" feature helps save space when storing in my drawer. The only drawback I've found with the relatively "flat" ends of this tong is that with some items, especially slippery things like raw chicken thighs, it's hard to get a good grip. So I wish they would also come out with a version which has more rounded ends for better grip capability.

I'm an All-Clad fanatic. I have their pots and pans, their measuring cups, and most of my cooking utensils are All-Clad. All of them have exceeded my expectations in its quality, design, and utility, except this one. Thank goodness I didn't pay for them (I got this as a bonus gift to buying bunch of other All-Clad pots and pans) b/c unlike other All-Clads, they are NOT worth the price! The locking mechanism is not designed well -it takes a little more effort than my other tongs to lock and unlock during cooking, which might not seem much, but it becomes a huge nusiance when you use it as much as me. But what's most disappointing is that the end of the tongs are so flat (my other tongs curve inward slightly so that it will hold onto food better) that unless I use extra force to hold onto the food, it just slips out (talk about hands cramping!). Like others have commented here, it looks beautiful, but in terms of getting things done in the kitchen, it fails miserably.

Best Deals for All-Clad Stainless Tongs

These are really quite beautiful and well made tongs. The finish and weight are first rate. The problem is, at least on the set that I bought, that the spring rate is too high. I found them fatiguing after a very short period of use, and it's not as though I lack hand strength.

In contrast, I recently bought a set of the Oxo tongs, and they are much, much more usable. Not quite as nicely finished, but they also lock and are sprung much better. I think they were a bit less expensive as well.

Honest reviews on All-Clad Stainless Tongs

These are in a word, horrible. They simply do not work. The "teeth" are

flat (no curvature) to clamp/bite into food. You have to exert extra

force on the handle to keep food from slipping out of tongs. Judging

by the workmanship I'd say these were made overseas. Clearly not up

to All Clad's standard of craftmanship. I bought the Rosle brand to

replace All Clad's tongs, the Rosle is far superior. I use All Clad's

cookware but some of their tools leave much to be desired.

These All-Clad 12-Inch Locking Tongs are great. I have been using Amco locking tongs (8-in., 12-in., 14-in. sizes), but I like this 18/10 gauge stainless steel better than their 18/8 gauge. I use the lock mechanism when leaving them in a sink, setting them beside the range, drip drying them in the dish drainer, and storing them in a drawer. I use the tongs everyday for almost any kind of cooking, except for when I use a nonstick pan. Then I use Calphalon nylon tongs. I'm glad All-Clad is making utensils now.

Great minds think alike. I bought this set for my daughter for Xmas and oddly she bought the exact same set for me for Xmas.

To begin with I was in love with this set. But I am keeping a close eye on it. It seems that the more I use the pans, items are beginning to stick to the bottoms.

I have never put these in the dishwasher....always washed by hand and dried immediately. I have also never used any type of cooking spray on them as I find this tends to ruin pans and make them impossible to clean.

I am hoping this doesn't become a problem in the future, as I really do like the set. It seems well constructed and well worth the money. My pans are calphalon also and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Cake pans are small ones and so are the bread pans...not full size.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I got all the shapes I needed for a low price. The 8" round cake pans almost look like pie plates so they're a bit smaller than I expected but I didn't need any bigger. The loaf bread is 9" by 5", which I hope helps because I was wondering about the size before buying and I couldn't find the details anywhere. I'm happy with my purchase, they all work great and after baking my breads and muffins just come right out of the pan so the nonstick works great. I wash them by hand and getting any food residue from them is very easy too. They look sturdy, not like other cheap products that seem sheet thin. These are great for regular home baking.

Best Deals for Simply Calphalon Nonstick 6-Piece Bakeware Set

I don't have much luck with non stick products as the non stick finish never seems to last. I purchased several sets because the price was cheap enough that I figure that I would just throw them away after the finish wears off. It came in just in time for all the holiday baking and so far it's been working great but then again it's only been a month! The bakeware is a little lighter than I expected.

Honest reviews on Simply Calphalon Nonstick 6-Piece Bakeware Set

The first time I put the cookie sheet in the oven at 400 degrees F, it warped in less than 5 minutes. Either I got a defective one or this is a horrible product. Not worth the time or money to return it.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Simply Calphalon Nonstick 6-Piece Bakeware Set

After just one trip through the dishwasher these pans rusted and they rusted quickly. Sadly, I'm into day 40 of owning them and Amazon won't take them back. My only hope is that Calphalon offers a return. After grabbing the muffin pan and having a a few tablespoons of rust water drip from being trapped in the rolled edge my confidence in the product is at zero.

There is rust visible on the rolled underedges, the seams (muffin pan) and already eating away at a small scratch I accidentally put in the cake pan. I have always heard that Calphalon was a great product, this was my first purchase and boy was I disappointed.

I hope it's just a problem in this batch, I will update my review when I hear back from their warranty department.

Oh, I can't tell you how happy I am to have this well-made honing steel--it feels so good that I don't even have to force myself to go five strokes on both sides of the blade before I start chopping (as Dinosaur Jr. would have it). This is a very nice and solid piece of equipment, it looks pretty good, and it does what it's supposed to do very well.

Now, for those who say "it's not a sharpening tool!"--you're right. Then again, since I got this thing, and have started using it very regularly, I have not had to sharpen any of my knives, and yes, even blades that seemed all too dull were not beyond salvation. I cannot tell (though I know the definitions) were honing stops and sharpening starts, but I have the feeling that if your knives aren't in too bad a shape they might well benefit from a serious application of the steel. Don't offend the purists and call that 'sharpening'--but as long as your knives cut better as a result, who cares what the purists call it?

One final thing: as with many tools, size counts: 12 inches seems, to me, to be some sort of a minimum length for a honer--this one is long enough, and I certainly wouldn't consider a 10-inch steel.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

You'll need one of these bad boys if you want to keep your knives in any sort of sharp condition.

I hone my knives on this steel a couple times before using my knives, and a couple times after using, to maintain a sharp edge. Periodically, every 6 months or so, I break out my Chef's Choice Diamond Sharpener to really sharpen my knives.

I have Wusthof Classic and Henckels Pro-S knives, which work fine with this steel. There may be other knives which have a hardness rating higher than that of this steel. This steel has a hardness rating of 66, so keep that in mind when you purchase your knives. And, Japanese knives must be sharpened at a different angle than German knivesI think it's ~10 degrees vs. 22.5 for ze Germans.

Best Deals for Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Pro S 12-Inch Honing Steel

Most of us know the importance of sharp knives for proper food preparation and gracious serving. Of course, I had to learn the hard way by mashing a tomato instead of chopping it, by "sawing" a roast rather than slicing it, and by cutting and pulling off a plump roast turkey leg rather than carving it. Those are just a few of the reasons I'm such a fan of my Henckels Sharpening Steel.

After trying both a stone and steel, the steel is my favorite for ease of use and appearance. This steel is not only utilitarian but handsome with a ribbed handle that's easy to hold and silvertone handle guard and hanging ring. First off, a good way to test whether or not your knives are sharp is to hold a piece of paper by the top corner and then attempt to "slice" it. If knives won't do this head for the steel! You'll be amazed sometimes it takes only a few strokes on the steel to make your knife sharp, sharper, then sharpest.

Remember to place the metal end of the steel on a sturdy surface, such as a butcher block table or cutting board then position the base of the blade on the steel and begin. This Henckels sharpening steel is certainly a cut above any other. Gail Cooke

This 12" steel performs its job admirably, providing a nice long surface to stroke a blade across and developing a distinctive ring characteristic when the blade is struck across correctly.

I've been maintaining my blades for about six months with it and have had no need to pursue any further sharpening as of yet.

We have used this stock pot mainly for pasta so far and it has performed well. It is nice looking, lightweight, and very easy to clean. It is the perfect size for a full box of pasta or a soup or stew for the entire family. I am consistently impressed with Le Creuset products.

Update to my original review: I still love this pot but I did have to replace it. I accidentally dropped it in my sink and knocked off part of the enamel coating. The coating is a bit delicate and I am much more careful with my new pot.

This pot is great for cooking small amounts of pasta, soup, etc... when the 8 quart one is too much. We have not experienced the chipping problem another reviewer mentioned and we've had ours for well over 2 years. I recommend it highly but should you have a problem Le Creuset has one of the best warranties out there and I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem returning it for a new one.

I love le creuset products, and I wasn't sure about the enamel covered steel if the quality would be as good, but it is excellent. I use it daily. The pot is a little smaller than I thought, but it still fits all of my soups, and stews.

Honest reviews on Le Creuset Enameled Steel 6 Quart Stock Pot

I was so excited to get my Le Creuset stockpot and am very pleased with how well it cooks my soups and stews. However, I have only used it 3 times and the enamel is chipping off at the joint where the handles attach to the pot. It even looks like it has been patched there because the color of the enamel is lighter than the area around it. And this chipping is not just in one spot. It has chipped on all four joints of the handles.

I am not sure whether to send it back or keep it. I have not seen any review that mentions this problem. If no one else has chipped handles, I will probably send it back. But if it is a common problem, I will keep the pot. There would be no use in getting another one with the same defects.

Bought two of these. Both had the enamel chip off. One of them wore through to the inside of the pot and I had to toss it. When I contacted Le Creuset they said I could send it back at MY expense and they would EVALUATE if it was my error or theirs. Sounded like a losing proposition to me as the cost of sending it back is almost half the cost of another pot. BEWARE.... and listen to the reviewers who say it chipped. BOTH of mine did. I am very annoyed about it...especially the way that customer service handled my complaint. I was VERY nice about it and told them I own just about every other type of cookware they have including the big iron pot that costs over $300; bakeware etc. They didn't seem to care. Don't buy these.

Kuhn Rikon 4-Inch Nonstick Colori Paring Knife Reviews

Kuhn Rikon 4-Inch Nonstick Colori Paring Knife, Pink

This is the best paring knife I have ever used. The blade is incredibly sharp and the handle is comfortable. And of course the color is fun and makes the knife easy the find in the drawer or the dish water. The case protects the blade in the drawer and makes it easy to take camping. The blade doesn't stick to anything, not even soft cheese. I have two myself and bought one as a gift. I would highly recommed this knife to everyone.

The Kuhn Rikon Nonstick Paring Knife is a very good value for a quality knife. We own several of these knives in different colors for use at home and in our shop. The different colors allow us keep the ones we use to cut materials in our workshop from accidently being used for food products.

The blade is *VERY* sharp and holds it's edge very nicely. The nonstick coating on the blade is a real plus as it helps to keep the knife clean as well as to keep it moving through thicker items. The snug fitting platic sheath is a welcome addition to safely store or transport the knife.

My only complaint is the light feel of the plastic handle. It isn't flimsy exactly, just lacks heft. This might just be a personal prefference issue and it hasn't stopped me from buying more of them.

Overall this is a very good paring knife at a reasonable price. Recommended!

I bought this knife at WilliamsSonoma retail store in Williamsburg, Virginia. It is an amazing paring knife and real sharp. I would definently suggest this to Culinary Students. My culinary program i'm enrolled in gave up "ok" paring knives. i decided that it was a time for an upgrade.

Honest reviews on Kuhn Rikon 4-Inch Nonstick Colori Paring Knife

When I first received the product it appeared by looks and touch to be dull BUT I bought it originally to match my kitchen. I was out of clean knives so decided to try and WOW or WOW what an amazing product. On the expensive side yes..............but as long as they continue to cut like they do now........they have become the favorite knives in the house by the entire family. It cuts hard sharp cheddar cheese like butter!!

I have had Visions cookware for about 17 years I guess. One of them has broken, but I loved them for all the years I've had them. They are great on gas stoves. They are great on electric stoves. I caution you to use low heat levels. High liquid items are no trouble. Baking is no trouble. If I burned something in one of them, I used a metal spatula to gently and carefully remove most of the charred crud, and then some cleanser or SOS to make them look like new again. I am looking to replace my beloved and well used 5 quart that had a coffee cup tossed into it by one of the kiddies :). I really like this cookware.

A L L....V I S I O N S....Cookware is perfect! I have

often thought that if I ever achieved all my dreams,

and became a millionaire, (or even a billionaire or a

trillionaire!), I would STILL want to cook, and would

STILL want ONLY "Visions", (or Pyrex, or Corelle, or

other glass or glass/ceramic cookare), to cook with.

This type of cookware is easy to clean, keeps correct

temperature, HAS NO HOT SPOTS, (which can ruin most

otherwise wonderful stainless-steel cookware), looks

quite beautiful, and just has an instinctive "feel"to

it that says, "pefect cookware".

"Visions" cookware is at the top of this list,

because one can see through it...all through it...and

not just from a glass top. This is very convenient

if one wants to do something else, and glance up, once

every few minutes, to see if the cooking is done.

True, "Visions" does burn...and burn very easily.

However, one can easily avoid this problem by putting

the stove on to a very low heat, while one is away.

Or buying a timer with a loud ring. With all the ad-

vantages that Visions, (and other glass or glass/cer-

amic) cookware affords, this precaution is a very

small bother. I myself have burnt three wonderful

Visions pots....yet I am buying more, and vowing to

be more careful!!!! (UPDATE....AND TIP! Yes, I've

burnt yet another wonderful Visions pot....but THIS

time, I decided to WAIT until the pot was COMPLETELY

COOL, before I tried to wash the burnt part off. IT

WORKED LIKE A CHARM! So, my (additional) advice now

is....if all else fails, and you forget to time your-

self or put on a lower light, and the pot burns

anyway.....take the pot off the heat, and WAIT AT

LEAST 2 HOURS -before washing in warm, soapy water. I then used Bon-Ami Cleanser....strong, but never

scratches. I suppose any dishwashing liquid will

work though. Just be sure to WAIT those two hours!

"Visions" and "Corningware" are now being made in

very limited quantities. I hope that they can again

be made in far greater quantities....new generations

are always being born, and the cooks amongst them

will always want the best. No matter what the price,

(and there are so many more expensive brands of pots

around...such as Calophan)....Visions will always be

the best, as far as I'm concerned. The best for

health, and value, and beauty, and convenience, (that

ability to judge what's cooking from a distance.)

"Perfection" is a term to use rarely, if ever. But

"Perfection" in cookware, and serving eqipment is

what Corningware and Visions is. I hope they keep

making it -and in larger and larger quantities --

forever!

P.S.: I see that this item has been reduced in

price from $120 to $79! At this price, it surely is

a bargain! If you are looking for a large stock or

cooking pot, this, in my opinion, is the one to buy!

I have a new GE Advantium 120 microwave oven and needed a large pot with a glass lid to cook stews, soups, etc. I received my order very promptly and it was in perfect shape! I had had some Visions pots some time ago and really liked them so I was so glad to find the 5qt. pot that I needed on Amazon.

I broke my friend's amber Dutch oven while helping him clean his kitchen one Sunday night. I was horrified. So was he. The fact that I could hop on Amazon and replace it, very easily, astounded, pleased, and relieved me. Amazon: you rock!

I have several Vision pots, including this one, and am purchasing more. Great for soups, boiling water, cooking in general. I am careful, and never use it on high heat. The primary reason I bought this, is because it is the healthiest cookware to cook on. No leeching! Stainless steel pots will leech out Nickel, and esp if scratched. I do not cook with non stick pans, because of the chemical and harmful fumes it creates. Not to mention that once it scratches, and it starts to flake, you are consuming that.

Visions is perfect for me. I haven't had any cracks or breaks, and have been careful with it. It is hard to find to purchase though. Cannot find it in stores here.

I guess I dont really get why this pot only costs 9 bucks.. It is really thin but I like it because of the glass coating. I was looking for a glass or ceramic coated pot for health reasons, as they have the least amount of chemicals or heavy metals leach off them.

Just so happens it seems this is the least expensive 1 quart pot of any kind sold directly from amazon as well. So best of both worlds. I like how easy it is to clean. Just be gentle with it.. never drop or bang it against anything, and dont put it on high heat or heat it with nothing in it. Dont let anything burn in it. But of course if you do break it, it will be a pretty cheap replacement.

Cleans up better than stainless steel. Only problem is the first one (under a year old) rusted in two places. Thus the 3 stars rather than 5. Fortunately cheap enough to replace. A sort of disposable item like a razor blade. Looks cool too.

The description says nothing about not being compatible with glass stove tops. You don't find out until you receive the product and read the label.

Honest reviews on Granite Ware Open Saucepans

I've had the 1qt and 2qt saucepans for years and still use them all the time. They last, they clean up easy and I love the blue enamel. The 3qt completes my saucepan set. Sometimes you might see these sets in a dollar store, don't be fooled, while in-expensive they are not cheap they are very high value. I've had the 1 and 2 qt pans for over 20 years so i thought about buying them again while I was at it, but looking them over carefully I realized they just didn't need replacing!

good product for the price. This pan does exactly what I need it to do. Only complaints are that the handle gets really hot, so use an oven mit and there's already a little rust spot where the black rim at the top is...

I have been using this cookware for a few weeks and I am very happy with them. We have a glass top stove and they are very flat on the bottom making for excellent heat conduction. Water boils twice as fast as the old pans we were using.

They go in the dishwasher and come out clean and shiny. We'll see how they look over time, but so far, they still look like new. The glass tops have a metal edge around to protect them. I love being able to see my food without removing the top.

The only complaint I have is that the insides stain a little bit when making tea, but it's no big deal.

I shopped numerous stores, read numerous online reviews, and consulted the top consumer magazine before buying this cookware. Many other sets had pans we don't need, and lacked pan sizes that my family use frequently. This combination of pan types and sizes fit our needs perfectly. For a while, I couldn't decide whether to by non-stick pans or uncoated. But my family is not careful with pans, so even the best quality non-stick surface won't last long. So I'm glad I bought stainless steel. Separately, I purchased a non-stick sautee pan, which is handy for times when non-stick is most helpful. The extra-thick, flat base on these pans conduct heat great on our ceramic stovetop, and don't warp like thinner pans. I did let a pan boil dry one time, and the base discolored very slightly as a result of my neglect. But it is hardly noticable when you compare the bottom with the other pans. The glass lids are nice, since you can see the contents when cooking (except when moisture obscures the view). One caution is that the lid handles get very hot, so you need a pot-holder to remove them. However, the pan handles themselves do not get too hot to handle. The pans look gorgeous, even after many uses and machine washings. And the pans nest/stack nicely, minimizing storage space. Before buying any cookware, be sure to check whether or not it is dishwasher safe many (especially non-stick) are not.

My daughter says these pans are great, the non-stick and able to go from stove top to oven option is terriffic. KitchenAid always makes great products. we always buy there line of products after we bought a stand mixer years ago, it was the only one that would last through all of our holiday baking.(I still have that stand mixer by kitchenAid today 15yrs and still going strong.)these pans i'm sure will last her a long time.
