I have a big family, with big-eating teen boys, and I use my pots and pans daily. I honestly had wanted to purchase the Cephalon set, but just couldn't afford it. I saw this set loved the red color and purchased it as a "second choice" boy am I glad I did! The biggest frypan is used at least twice a day without fail! They all still look nearly as good as the day I bought them about two years ago the nonstick coating is still perfect and works beautifully. We handwash them there's never room in the d/w for pans anyway and literally I never even put the fry pan away, just turn it upside down on the stovetop. They cook so evenly, never scorch, and even when I overcooked the rice one night it just browned inside and literally wiped out with a paper towel.

I received this pots and pans as a birthday present to go in to my newly remodeled kitchen. I love the red color! I have arthritis so I really liked the weight of the pots and pans and the handles were easy to hold. They are light without feeling flimsy. They cook like a dream with no sticking.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have this set of KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware and a set of KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware and the latter is definitely worth the extra money. When I created this review the KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware was selling for $150 and the set of KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware was selling for $178, so my criticisms are based on the savings of only $28. I would not pay more than $125 for the KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware Set.

This set KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware is MUCH thinner and lighter weight, the heat distribution and retention is less impressive than the Gourmet Anodized set. These pans are so light I would only recommend them over the Gourmet Anodized set if you have mobility issues and are purposely seeking to fill a need for lightweight cookware.

All the pot sizes are smaller and less useful and the handles are not as good as the Gourmet Anodized. You do not get an 8 quart pot for cooking pasta, the squat 6 quart pot that comes in this set is smaller than I like to cook spaghetti, but will make a good soup pot. You do not get a fry pan you can cook more than 3 eggs in, so you will probably need to purchase an additional fry pan of larger size. If you have a lot of big pots already, this set may be a good filler set to have smaller pans to choose from.

The red color of this set is a very dark brick color, darker than the photo even, so if someone is wanting a true red this is not a good choice esthetically. I think the KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware set is better designed and more attractive with its Windsor shaped sides; the narrower bases look nice and allow better fit on smaller stovetops without compromising on size. The KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware does not come in colors, but if I have to choose between matching decor and function, I would choose function.

All that said, this KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware set is much better than the starter sets you see in Bed Bath & Beyond for $75-$100. So if someone you know has one of those cheaper-made cookware sets on their wish list, spend the extra money on this set and really delight them. If you are looking for pans to last a couple decades, spring for the KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware, I bought the additional two-burner griddle and it is GREAT too.

Honest reviews on KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set

I was really excited to receive this new cookware when I ordered it online. the colors are really nice, red is my fave color and frying is not that hard anymore. when I fried some egg rolls and fish, it is evenly cook and so i am guessing that the heat is evenly distrubuted in the entire frying pan. i think the price is in the right range. i hope this would last 5-10 years, its predecessor lasted for almost 10years :)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a nice-looking set. The lids all fit snugly and I particularly like the silicone on the lid and pan handles.

These are lighter weight than my hard-anodized Circulon pans and way lighter, of course, than cast iron. Also, note that this set doesn't include any really large pots or pans. I immediately thought that this set would be well-suited to an older person with diminished hand/arm strength and a smaller household.

Inside the box there is a special disclosure about care and use issues. One of the warnings is directed toward people who have glass-top ranges (as I do). The warning says you should never allow a pot or pan to boil dry on a glass-top range, as that can result in the pan fusing to the cooktop. I vividly recall my mother-in-law allowing a kettle to boil dry on my old electric cooktop and that happened, so I was not surprised or disturbed by the warning. I can manage to avoid something like that happening again.

But the disclosure document went on to say that a pot or pan could fuse to the cooktop if you move a hot pot/pan to an unheated part of the cooktop. Well, that happens all the time at my house. When we finish cooking something, we just move the pot or pan over to one of the turned-off burners on the other side of the cooktop. I know we won't consistently remember not to do that, so it certainly gave me pause. We did some research about the issue and found some reports of people who said they hadn't had any fusion problems, so it's probably just one of those excess-of-caution warnings, but it's something that a potential buyer should be aware of and take into account before making a buying decision.

We have a big family and wanted a waffle maker. We wanted a Big Big waffle maker. Mom does not want to make any child wait for their waffles. Unfortunately, the seemingly biggest waffle makers had review that said they cooked un-evenly (because of their square shape) and were hard to clean if they spilled.

We settled for this medium large waffle iron and were very happy. It cooks large waffles so fast, we can cook waffles faster than three children can eat them and actually have left-overs to freeze. Two waffles are enough even for the most ravenous child. The cooking is very even and it is really nice to have both the controls for darkness and for texture. Waffles do cook a little more slowly if the control is set to even texture, but we prefer the crunchy outside texture setting better anyway.

The iron is easy to use, cleans up well, directs spills away from the controls, and heats up quickly. Seems sturdy, but let us use it a year or two to see how it wears with time.

The waffles freeze and recook well, though we suggest using wax paper between them in large stacks. No more Eggos.

I got this as a gift for my wife who likes heart shaped things and secretly I wanted a nice waffle maker too. I've tried a few different waffle makers, Belgian and the smaller grid traditional ones. Not a big Belgian fan, and the smaller traditional waffle irons I tried seemed better at making waffle crackers.

However the M840... wow! My wife and I made a bunch of waffles our first day. We tried all the settings to see which we liked best. There are two controls... a dial (1 to 5) to dial in your brown-ness level, and a switch that toggles from a more evenly softer waffle to a more crispy waffle. The softer waffles reminded me of the waffles you'd get at Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles (for you SoCal people out there). I preferred the more crispy setting.... crispy on the outside and still tender on the inside. Not crispy and dry like some cheaper waffle irons I've tried.

The iron takes a few minutes to warm up, but once it reaches its optimal temperature it cooks waffles in about 90 seconds or so. One ladle scoop of batter was the perfect amount to avoid any leaks of batter out of the iron.

The hearts break apart easily, would be great for small kids when you want a smaller portion.

We tried freezing some waffles we made and then used a toaster oven the next morning to warm them up and had great results. My wife said the reheated waffles were just as good if not better than the fresh ones.

The only downside to this waffle iron is the size of the waffle... its a little on the small side. Where I might eat two waffles from other waffle irons, I would probably eat three from this one. Not really a problem since the M840 cooks them pretty darn quick.

Cord can be folded and tucked into the bottom of the iron's base when storing.

Coming from the country of Norway our family have been raised on waffles. Since arriving in the US we have been through several and having worn out the last one, we went on the internet to check out the ratings for a new one.

We have had our Chef's Choice M840 WafflePro iron for 6 wks now, and love it! At first we had problems with spillage as this iron takes less batter than our previous one. We have adjusted and find that we get perfectly made waffles every time. We had planned to buy two (as we often have guests over and need to be able to keep up with the demand), but wanted to try one out before we comited to the other. We have scrapped that idea as this iron's turn-around is so efficient that we have no problem satisfying the demand. The iron is easy to clean and has logical controls and alerts.Chef's Choice M840 WafflePro Five of Hearts

Honest reviews on Chef's Choice M840 WafflePro Express Waffle Maker, Traditional Five

My husband loves waffles. He likes them crisp on the outside, moist on the inside. With my 25-year old GE waffle iron, I'd make extra-large batches once every two months and freeze them for reheating them, on demand, one-by-one in the toaster oven. Alas, I dropped the GE, broke it's handle, and decided that it was time for a new waffle iron.

I did my homework. I checked out equipment reviews on Cooks Illustrated and read all of the reviews for every non-Belgian waffle iron here on Amazon. This Chef's Choice M840 won the day. Here are the reasons why I hate it and am sentencing it to Goodwill after only a week and two waffle-making attempts.

1. It's extremely easy to overfill. After a few attempts at calibrating the pour, I started to get it right. BUT see #2.

2. It's virtually impossible to clean. No part of this waffle iron is detachable nor can any of it be put under water. As a result, when the buttery batter oozes all over the machine, there is no way to get it out of the cracks and crevices of the machine. In addition, little crumbs linger in the clover-shaped iron plates and, short of getting out my vacuum cleaner to remove them, they were still there the second time I used the machine. Ick!

3. As another reviewer pointed out, the paint is very cheap. On the first paper-towel rubdown (I cannot in good conscience call it a cleaning), the paint for the directional copy rubbed off.

4. (This is a good point.) The waffles cook fast. (BUT, see #6.)

5. (This is another good point.) The maker has a "ding" to notify you when the waffle is done.

6. (This is the death sentence.) It makes really skinny waffles. (I'm not talking about the clover shape. I'm talking about the depth of the waffle.) Belgian waffles for us are about two times too thick for us. On the other hand, these waffles were about half as thick as the ones we've come to think of as "normal". It's OK when you eat them straight from the waffle-iron; however, after freezing and reheating in a toaster oven, they have the consistency of crackers.

I'm so sad.

I had to come up with a replacement waffle iron for a cheap Salton WM7YL after my ex-wife got that one as part of our split-up, and I like thin Scandinavian style waffles as opposed to the thick style many people are used to. I fired up the Chef's Choice WafflePro M840 this morning and got a close-to-my-specs waffle on the first try. A few tweaks of the settings and perfect waffles were coming out. After the initial "PAM-ing" that is recommended by the manufacturer, it appears that the non-stick grill coating coupled with the butter in the waffle mix makes the non-sticking self-sustaining without any additional oil. The audible beeper that tells when the waffle is done has just the right number of beeps to get your attention if you're doing something else, but not too many to be annoying. Cheaper waffle irons are available, but quality is always worth paying for in the long run. The iron is 1100 Watts and is engineered in Germany and produced in China, of course. I don't think anybody will be disappointed if they buy this gem.

This is an excellent skillet that requires very low heat for cooking, and cleanup is a breeze. I have the regular cuisinart multiclad set, which is awesome, but I no longer use those skillets since purchasing this one. No more Barkeepers Friend and scouring required. It is off the stove, cool down and wash with dish soap and warm water. I have had no problem with bits of teflon flaking off.

I would highly recommend this skillet to anyone looking.

I own the MCP 12 piece stainless steel, but wanted a decent non-stick skillet so I picked this up. It works great and has been the most used piece I own...

I do wish it would have come with a lid (or one was offered separately) but I found an inexpensive 12" all-purpose chef's classic that had a great glass semi-domed lid that I purchased and use the lid from.

This is a very nice pan and I am impressed. I would like to give this a higher rating. However, a year after I purchased the pan the nonstick surface is peeling all around the edge of the pan. The problem with this is that the limited warranty requires you to pay for shipping to Cuisinart and another $7.00 for them to ship it back to you. This seems like a manufacture defect to me. I am put off that I have to pay to have them ship me a skillet to replace a defect. It's cheaper than buying a new one but how do I know I won't be spending another $14 worth of shipping costs a year from now. They need to fix their process with the nonstick bonding.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Nonstick Stainless-Steel Skillet

This skillet still looks new use after use and it performs flawlessly. Nothing sticks to this thing and I love using it to scramble eggs and make pancakes. It requires very little heat and is super easy to clean. All you do is let it cool down, wash and dry. I wash mine by hand because I think good quality cookware will last longer and keep looking good if washed and dried thoroughly by hand. The handle stays cool and is riveted on, not those flimsy screws that can loosen up over time. Excellent quality and great size.I highly recommend this skillet.

We bought all 3 sizes of the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro nonstick skillets about a year and a half ago, and absolutely love them. This isn't teflon it's some sort of titanium coating developed for the space program. We use them every day, and there's no sign of flaking as usually happens with teflon. Although they don't come with lids, we also bought some of the casseroles, a dutch oven, and several sizes of saucepans, and the lids that came with those fit the skillets. The only thing missing from the line is a 1 quart saucepan. If anything ever does happen to the nonstick coating, we've been so satisfied that we'll just replace them.

If you could just stand and marvel at a pan's beauty, engineering, and "sex appeal" if there is such a thing, this is the one. The lid itself is a marvel, but the pan, at about 3 inches deep and 11 inches in diameter (check it just to make sure--I'm winging it a bit here) is the perfect size to carry off that slow cooked French stew or chicken dish, which can easily accommodate four or five chicken breasts in a sauce, etc. It is extremely well made, heavy, and well designed, again, not too big, not too small. It hurts the wallet. Quality doesn't come cheap, but this is it. No buyer's remorse here, assuming you want to allocate those discretionary dollars in your kitchen for an implement that will crank out delicious food in the most efficient manner and look kick ass in the process. Go ahead--pull the trigger, and make your day. I love this pan, and it looks so cool!

The pots and pans are quite thin, but they have very nice and thick stainless steel disks attached to the bottoms, so they were heating evenly. The nonstick ceramic was good and really non-stick for about a month I used the set.

Unfortunately, then one of the handles on the pot fell off just as I filled it with water to boil. I am so very happy it didn't happen when the water was hot. The handle was attached to welded housing with a screw, but it seems like the thread was stripped off so the screw didn't have much to hold on to. The housing itself was quite small and not very deep.

I really liked the set until it broke.

I bought it here an Amazon from Maximum Discount seller. When I got the set, the smallest lid was mismatched (blue metal instead of silver), I wrote to the seller, but they didn't respond. After the handle fell off, I made a claim with Amazon, and it was resolved quickly.

I'm 77 years old and have had a LOT of different cookware in my married life. Unfortunately, This cookware came way too late! If you need the best cookware ever buy this! I boiled some water last night, walked away, the water boiled out and I smelled a strange scent. The pot was "cooking" with no water and I rinsed it and it's impossible to tell anything happened to it. It also wiped out quickly. I'm SOLD on PYREX. Heats quickly, easy cleanup, good for heating up small dishes or even boiling 1 or 2 servings of pasta, or even if I'm tossing in some shredded chicken and bbq sauce, I dont have to worry about clean-up.

Decent cover glass yay! and seems reasonably durable, if you dont take metal utensils to it.

If the price wasn't low I would rate it 3 stars, but for the price it is pretty decent. The non-stick works very well, the handle is nice to use on the lid but pointless to have the system of hooking it on the pot when the pot is so small. The actual amount of metal is tiny in this pot so don't think you will be getting some nice heavy bottomed cooking piece here, just a good low-end pot.

This is a perfect tea pot for 1 or 2 people. There is only one thing I wish was different. I wish that the lid stayed on securely when you pour. Other than that, it is great. It doesn't whistle, so if you're the type of person that tries to do other things while your water is heating up, and then gets distracted and forgets about your tea, this might be a problem. I would recommend doing things in your kitchen while it heats or don't leave it alone for too long.

I have had my Chantal Teakettle for approximately 14 years (it is blue, however, instead of red). It has performed perfectly and still looks as new as the day it was purchased and given a home. Unlike other tea kettles I have owned, it has remained not only as beautiful but as strong as when it was new. Others I have had, have deteriorated in a short amount of time. I truly think this one will last a lifetime. I highly recommend it and how easy to be able to order it here.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Extremely well constructed and well designed. It should last for a lifetime. It's beautiful and easy to clean. It's made of very conductive material so I don't have a problem with boiling water quickly on my electric stove. The handle doesn't get hot unless you position it so that it's heated by the element from below. Once you hear the harmonica "whistle" when the water boils you'll love it... :)

Best Deals for Chantal Enamel on Steel Classic Teakettle

The Chantal 2 1/2-quart teakettle is not only aesthetically pleasing but is also energy efficient because it heats water to the boiling point in a short period of time. I bought a Chantal teakettle when it first came on the market, and I have used it on a Jenn-aire ceramic stovetop, a gas burner range, and an electric range--all with good results for heating water quickly. However, I have had to ask Chantal to replace my teakettle twice because of rust on the inside near the lid. Also the lid would become stuck in place and impossible to remove, so I would fill it with water through the pouring spout. The charming two-tone Hohner "harmonica" top of the spout has stopped playing on the one I have now. I think the reason for the problems with the Chantal teakettle have everything to do with the hardness of one's water. Yet, I love this teakettle so much that I will replace it myself if I must.

Honest reviews on Chantal Enamel on Steel Classic Teakettle

UPDATE 1: After 5 years of use, the harmonica came out of the cap, so it no longer signals boiling water. For this price, it should have lasted at least 10 years.

UPDATE 2: After 6 years of use, the spring-loaded spout no longer flips out of the way. Pouring water is clumsy at best without a way of having it out of the way and staying there. The kettle is still pretty, and I loved the harmonica when it worked, but we will get a cheaper, larger one and throw this one out.

This 1.8 qt teakettle is a bit small, maybe 2/3 the size of a typical teakettle. One kettle of boiling water is not enough for morning tea for the two of us, as it was with earlier kettles.

PROS: stylish; nice choice of colors; reasonably well-made; unique harmonica whistle which is the main reason for paying a higher price; includes mitt for easy handling (see CONS).

CONS: expensive; smallish size; enamel can chip on enamel kettles; must use mitt on the metal handle when pouring hot water (or wait until it cools).

The whistle blows at a good volume, so we can hear it from the second floor when it boils in the kitchen. The two-note harmonica sound is much more pleasant than the shrill whistle of a traditional kettle, but ours is a bit dissonant, not a chord; this seems to vary from kettle to kettle, judging by other reports. It starts with one steady note, gets louder, then the second note comes in.

Because the kettle is smallish, the base is a bit smaller too, and we cannot turn the flame up full force without having it lick up the sides. Still, it seems to boil water fairly fast, about right for its smaller size.

We were originally shopping for one on ebay (where some other colors are available), but found that older kettles did not come with the hot-kettle mitt that is included with new units, and this mitt is essential, because the metal handle does get hot when it boils. Also, the ebay prices end up without much savings over a new one, and you can't usually return it (for example, if it does not whistle). I suggest that you do not put the mitt on the handle when the pot is heating; instead, wait until you have turned off the flame.

If you search froogle, you will find at least one online store that sells the unit for eleven dollars less than amazon, with fair shipping fees.

We chose the enamel kettle for its look and color (onyx, which is slightly darker than stainless steel). The disadvantage of enamel, according to other reports, is that it can chip and, when it does, it can rust. This is more of a problem for the interior. The stainless-steel and copper models have a stainless-steel interior, and should never rust. The exterior of those models has a coating to keep it looking nice and make it easier to clean, but I assume with time this clear coating will peel, scratch, or otherwise deteriorate.

Washing it once every few weeks with a non-scratch sponge and regular dishwashing liquid (not when it's real hot) will keep it looking nice. There is also a special ceramic cleaner that we bought, but I have my doubts that it is needed.

To get long life out of any kettle, it is important to turn off the fire after it comes to a boil. Boiling water for a long time will eventually heat the plastic parts and cause them to melt or warp. The Chantal is mostly metal, but there is a gasket in the water-fill hole, and there might be some plastic in the flip-up whistle assembly at the end of the spout.

We fill the kettle from the spout. It does not take any longer, and that way you won't wear out the gasket in the water-fill hole. If you wear out the gasket, or if the flip-up whistle-cover for the spout warps or is bent, you won't get a good seal, and the kettle won't whistle. Without the whistle you're in danger of overheating the kettle, and that leads to rapid deterioration.

The Chantal kettle is well-made, and with proper care, could last many years [see UPDATE above: ours broke after 5 years]. You can buy replacement parts, for example if the gasket needs to be replaced.

Why three stars? I took one star off for the price, which I think is high for a teakettle. I took one star off for the relatively smaller size, and because the tone is dissonant. [UPDATE: I think the kettle should have lasted longer than 5-6 years at this price, but I did not take off another star for the failures.] I'm happy with this unique kettle, but a bit stingy with my stars: only a few of the finest products get five stars.

We got tired of cheap, flimsy teakettles burning through the bottom and corroding on the inside after a couple of years normal use. When we got our Chantal Kettle over 10 years ago we could feel the difference in the heavy guage steel with a hard porcelain enamel finish. In 10 years of daily use this kettle has had lots of abuse and still looks like new. No discoloration, no corrosion anywhere. The Hohner Harmonica whistle is music to my ears and the insulated stainless handle makes it easy to lift the kettle without a pot holder (unless overheated on a gas flame!). We often give these as gifts and find that people treasure them for years and years. Anyway, the teakettle of choice for Jerry Seinfeld's kitchen is good enough for me

This is a great stainless steel stock pot for the price. It shows that it was seam welded down one side. The seam is slightly visible on the outside, but polished and smooth on the inside. Great riveted handles and crimped edges on the top and lid. Has "Concord 80qt" painted on both sides in basic black paint that can probably scraped off.

The thickness of the steel is good, but if your planning on drilling through it put in a valve or bulkhead, it will work fine, but does not feel as secure as some other thicker pots.

Definitely worth the money though.

I posted pictures when I first got the kettle, but I reserved my review for after the first time I actually used it.

This is a great stock pot/brew pot for the price. I'm using it to brew beer, I'm happy with my purchase, and I plan on purchasing another one soon.

One thing I will do, and recommend to anyone who is using this for more than a 5 gallon boil is putting in a weldless ball valve and thermometer kit. (or at least making sure you are brewing with a strong friend).

I would definitely recommend this item for home brewers.

You get what you pay for. Nice and shiny with a pin hole in the side. Patched it with some JB weld. Waiting for the next leak to show up

Review of Pyrex Easy Grab 2 quart casserole with glass cover

Pyrex Easy Grab 2 quart casserole with glass cover

I ordered the Pyrex Easy Grab Casserole specifically to heat browned/blackened seared chicken to 165 degrees in the microwave for final cooking.

THERE WERE TWO REQUIREMENTS

1. The dish had to be see-through so I could view the chicken for meat thermometer insertion as my microwave is mounted high.

2. The casserole had to fit and be able to rotate freely on the microwave carousel.

RESULTS

The casserole passed both tests. It rotates freely and I can actually see what I'm doing when testing for inner temperature.

Here's the actual measurements of the dish which are slightly different than the Amazon measurements.

The Dish is 12-3/8 inches x 8 inches. This includes the length of the handles.

My GE Microwave inner dimensions are 19-1/2 inches x 13-1/4 inches.

I really like this casserole dish and especially the grab handles.

I really like this container. It is a great size, the lid is awesome. The handle on the lid is not detached at all (no hole through it) it just has a little lip to grab which I can do even with an oven mitt on.

However I was hoping that buying this would provide me with a reusable oven lid that could be used with Pyrex Easy Grab 2-Piece Value Pack, includes 1-ea 3-qt Oblong, 2-qtOblong (No Lids) or

Pyrex Easy Grab 4-Piece Value Pack, includes 1-ea 3-qt Oblong, 2-qtOblong, Red Plastic Covers (which I have two sets of). However the oblong seems to be the key word as the oblong 2 quart is a tiny bit longer then this one (which is taller). I will try to get side by side photos of them when they are both clean.

I love Pyrex and have used the clear ones for years with the plastic lids (the red goes great in my kitchen). I just wish they had more of the glass lids so I didn't have to cover with foil and then throw it away. What a waste.

I took a chance on this reasonably low priced casserole, and I guess I lost. It came solidly built and shipped very quickly, but I was searching for an affordable dish with a lid that fits close to snug to hold in moisture while cooking. This has huge 1/8th to 1/4th inch gaps that will release all the steam, which does not meet my needs.

Pyrex makes makes better fitting lids and even an excellent fitted lid using a silicone seal, but that's not offered in more usable sizes.

It is U.S. made.

Honest reviews on Pyrex Easy Grab 2 quart casserole with glass cover

We are concerned about effects of plastic bags on our food safety, and this casserole is great for cooking and storing food. Sturdy and substantial so it is easy to handle, and you can see what you have in the fridge. Highly recommended!

I wanted a heavy pot to slow cook chicken and other meats. This fits the bill! The top is heavy and keeps in the moisture.......everything turns out perfectly. The pot arrived perfectly packed, quick delivery......I couldn't be happier with this cheerful yellow French Oven!

Got this as a present for my wife, who's been wanting this for a while.

It arrived not packed very well. The product box was inside a VERY large shipping box, with very little padding. So, it was free to bounce around quite a bit. As a result, one handle was broken (I didn't know you COULD break these things!). Amazon took it back with no hassle whatsoever, even sending the new one immediately even before I sent back the broken one.

The second (replacement) one arrived packaged exactly the same way, so I was afraid it, too, would be broken. However, it was intact, so no problem there. The Le Creuset label stuck on the side of the pot is almost impossible to remove even with mild solvents. What's that all about? There were also labels stuck to the bottom as well, which strikes me as a dangerous place to put them when some folks might just throw the pot right into the oven without looking at the bottom.

All in all, we're very UNimpressed with the packaging and labelling and the way it was shipped. We are, however, VERY impressed with the pot itself. We're getting a lot of good use out of it.

I owned a wonderful Lodge cast iron Dutch oven which I used often. But the reactive issues and rust situation finally made me break down and buy a Le Creuset. I wanted something easier to clean and that I could use acid (vinegar, lemon) in without eating away the surface. Over the years I've purchased Le Creuset as wedding gifts and for my own kids...and finally decided I earned one myself! This fun yellow model was on a very good sale, which made it even more appealing. I think it might be an older model (but then so am I). Something I read makes me think the newer, higher-priced version has slightly larger handles. I do not own a slow cooker, so I use this for all low and slow cooking, both on the stove top and in the oven. You'll never regret buying the best...go for it.
