Isaac Mizrahi 6 qt Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Lid - Turquoise Review
In a word...."Awesome"! It cooks evenly and it's a beautiful piece of cookware that transitions from the stove or oven to the table easily. I strongly recommend this item as an addition or as a gift.

Discount Demeyere Non-Abrasive Cleaner
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $10.00
Sale Price: $9.95
Today's Bonus: 1% Off

I bought a demeyere proline/atlantis 11" frying pan, and burned some sauce in it while trying to deglaze. The pan was covered in burned-on oil and carbon residue -not really hindering the performance, but no longer beautifully stainless steel.
I have a company-provided housekeeper, but she is more familiar with cleaning $3 non-stick than $200 frying pans, and I was afraid she might damage it, so I hid the pan and ordered some Demeyere cleaner to my APO ("hey man, what did you get in the mail from home?" "special belgian softscrub to clean my pans" "I got beef jerky and wetnaps"). 8 days later, in the mail, I received the best cleaner ever. It took a little bit of force to wipe away the worst oil residue, using a green scotchbrite and a sponge, but overall it was actually not that difficult. The end result is a perfectly new-looking pan with no scratches.
I also used some of the cleaner on copper, and it worked fine, although it might not be ideal for a heavily tarnished pan.
The real test was enameled cast iron (from IKEA) -I totally burned something on it, so there was a thick layer of black carbon. I used Bar Keeper's Friend first, plus soaking, but in the end, the Demeyere cleaner actually worked with the BKF to remove the last of the carbon.
At $10/bottle, it's a bit pricey compared to $2-3 alternatives, but seems to work much better, and doesn't damage expensive cookware. It is the only cleaner (other than soap and water) I'd use on the Demeyere, and probably my first choice for any "difficult" cookware cleaning problem.

As promised, this cleans up my Demeyere as well as all other cookware quite effectively. The Demeyere cookware though needs much less cleaning so I use this on all clad mostly. I also use it to clean stainless appliances both small and built-in. Works better than all other cleaners I've tried.Best Deals for Demeyere Non-Abrasive Cleaner
Works well on our Demeyer pots and pans for when you need more than soap and hot water (e.g. cleaning a pot used to make rice ... tiny little rice stains at bottom of pot come right off)Monday, December 22, 2014
Review of Lenox Butterfly Meadow Figural Cup and Saucer Set, Yellow
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $30.00
Sale Price: $17.95

I purchased this cup and saucer as a 2010 Christmas gift for a relative. It has held up well, is beautiful, looks dainty, but has a good sturdiness and weight to it. I often drink out of the cup when I visit and while I love it (it's really pretty), I've found the cup handle, which is designed as a butterfly, odd and difficult to hold. There's no loop to put your finger through... sometimes I have to pick the cup up just the right way so as not to drop it, which makes for a cumbersome experience while trying to enjoy tea lol! I wanted to purchase other cups and saucers in the Lenox Butterfly collection, but will be getting the Lenox Butterfly Meadow Blue Butterfly Cup and Saucer Set instead because it has a proper handle.
I hesitated giving this cup 4 stars because it's so beautiful, but the handle is impractical. I would feel uncomfortable serving to guests.
The cups and saucers are beautiful and will marry well/add a little color to my all white Lenox Butterfly Meadow Cloud dinnerware. Also, I find the cup to be delicate in look and very sturdy in feel, so hopefully the little butterflies will not break off. I decided to purchase four initially (bought 3 and received the fourth one free, thanks Amazon!), I may purchase two more since the teapot can hold six 8 ounce servings of tea but will hold off for now as I think I am running out of cupboard space:)
A few things I don't like:
The color is a little too light, it does not have the cream color tint like the rest of the butterfly meadow collection.
The handle is odd to hold, and there is a bright yellow line running down the center of the butterfly stem, which you can not see here. It looks as if a bold yellow sharpie marker ran down the middle. It doesn't fit with the style/color of any of the four cups.
At last, they are rather large (wide) for tea cups, they look like they could actually be used like small soup bowls.
I only marked down 1 star, because this is very good china... but honestly, the design and style has it's flaws. This would have to be my least favorite of the collection.
Also, the PINK set is the best in color and design (As each plate has a different floral pattern)

It takes me a really long time to make a decision and I've been looking at tea services for the past year. I finally reached a decision over the weekend and ordered the Lenox Butterfly Meadow 7 pc (really 9 pc, yes unfortunately lids count as pieces too) set and decided to also purchase additional cups and saucers at the same time so my service would be complete. Initially I was going to purchase the exact same cup and saucer sets that come with the tea set but decided I wanted to add a little more character, and talk, to my service. When I noticed that the teapot was adorned by a yellow butterfly I was sold on this lovely set.The cups and saucers are beautiful and will marry well/add a little color to my all white Lenox Butterfly Meadow Cloud dinnerware. I purchased the pink and blue sets and I LOVE them! I also have the 7-piece Lenox Set and the cups match perfectly to the set, even though you receive two cups with the 7-piece set. Discount Organized Living Under Cabinet Basket, Nickel
I bought this because I don't have much cupboard space. I wanted to put ziplock bags and foil in it but the foil is too long. I ended up using it in my office supplies cabinet. The nickel coating is nice... looks like chrome if you don't look at it too closely. It doesn't look cheap like white does.
Beware of shelf thickness I thought it wouldn't be a problem, but apparently our pantry shelves are ever so slightly thicker than the brackets are designed for, which means the 'arms' stick up a little on the shelf above it. We strategically put plates around it so it wasn't an issue, but FYI!

Awesome for those who need that extra storage in a small kitchen. I hang these under my cabinets and thanks to the thin frame the doors are unnoticeably ajar. Great size for storing Tea Towels, Oven Mitts, Ziplocs. They look not too shabby too, the color is a slight gold/brass metallic.Honest reviews on Organized Living Under Cabinet Basket, Nickel

Customer Ratings:
List Price: $129.99
Sale Price: $99.95

This is an awesome and functional set for a family, and my last set (identical to this one except for the lids) has lasted more than 8 years.
I recently picked up a few new T-fal pieces and really like the new glass lids that are included with this one. Maybe I'm a nosy cook, but being able to see inside is a huge advantage.
The pans are are practical sizes, and the set gives you almost everything you need for a kitchen. The one pan this set is missing is a Saute or Chicken pan, but those are hard to find I had to buy mine separately. However, until I found one (T-fal, of course), I used the deeper pot.
The key to using T-fal is to make sure you never heat it on anything other than a medium flame. A higher temperature will cause the T-fal to burn and you will slowly erode its ability to be nonstick. Also, if you use a dishwasher, you will need to season it again after using it a few times. The dishwashing soap will also cause your exterior to lose its gloss, although it won't impact the nonstick nature.
Also, while it is possible to use metal implements on it, it can get scratched over time, so I recommend wood or plastic.

Discount Lava Signature Round Enameled Cast-Iron Dutch Oven, 4-3/4-Quart
I got this pot in an amazing Cobalt Blue color (stunning). It's the time of the season for soups, stews and chili. It is large enough to make a generous serving. I made a vegetarian chili using this pot for Halloween, it was big enough to make enough for 12. It was also great because nothing stuck to the bottom and an easy clean up.
I use mostly All-Clad and this pot definitely held up to my standards. I would recommend this to all my friends and a great addition to anyone's collection of pots.

I don't seek 'green' products, but this one works as advertised! You can fry and egg with no butter or oil and it just slides around in the pan after the white is set. My second time purchasing, so if you are looking at these being your only set of non-stick pans, forget about it. They last a couple years. Read the instructions, they last MUCH longer if you don't take them from frying mode to the faucet! The quick 'cool down' of that step shortens their life.
Oh, and I do not work for this company. I just love these pans that much.
Super easy to clean ( and I have no patience for slow cooking so even the eggs that I "burn" come off easily)

I was pretty skeptical about buying these pans, but I needed some new ones since my old teflon ones had finally died. My kitchen is lime green so I was searching for something to compliment the decor and I also wanted something to last. So I said "screw it!" and I bought these. Not only did they exceed my expectations, but they are cute AND cheap! I love them! Nothing sticks to them not even eggs, chocolate, or cheese, and I cook A LOT! So, if you want a good quality, sturdy, attractive pan that nothing sticks to...then buy this set.Oh, and I do not work for this company. I just love these pans that much.

I'm 77 years old and have had a LOT of different cookware in my married life. Unfortunately, This cookware came way too late! If you need the best cookware ever buy this! I boiled some water last night, walked away, the water boiled out and I smelled a strange scent. The pot was "cooking" with no water and I rinsed it and it's impossible to tell anything happened to it. It also wiped out quickly. I'm SOLD on PYREX. Have used the glassware for years, just wish I had these three pots (1QT.,2QT. & 3QT.) back in 1951 when I got married!! It sure would have saved me a lot of money!! Thanks PYREX!!
Decent cover glass yay! and seems reasonably durable, if you dont take metal utensils to it.

If the price wasn't low I would rate it 3 stars, but for the price it is pretty decent. The non-stick works very well, the handle is nice to use on the lid but pointless to have the system of hooking it on the pot when the pot is so small. The actual amount of metal is tiny in this pot so don't think you will be getting some nice heavy bottomed cooking piece here, just a good low-end pot.Honest reviews on Pyrex Nonstick Covered Saucepans

Best Farberware Chicken Rotisserie Deals
I've been looking for a long time for a simple gadget that can enter my standard oven and produce a decent rotisserie. I love this grilled skin... This device produces excellent chicken. Juicy. Crisp. Place some potato or other vegetable below the chicken so they can benefit from the dripping fat and you have a great meal. Cleaning is also fairly easy. Thanks Farberware for finally addressing the need.
A few comments (I'd rate the product 4.5 if this was possible): 1. Storage is a bit cumbersome due to the back handle. 2. After some cooking time, the device doesn't hold the chicken at a certain angle. I guess the chicken becomes too heavy. 3. No instruction were given regarding putting the device under the grill. I was concerned the knob could melt, but it held fine.

Best Chef's Choice Multi-Edge Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener Deals
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $35.00
Sale Price: $21.67
Today's Bonus: 38% Off

Bought one of these recently to replace an older model that had been well-used. (These do need replacing every once in a while, as the diamond grit wears down.) Thought I'd share some tips here.
First, let me point out that the turning wheels in the center are a guide to make you hold the knife upright. The wheels may not be turning throughout your "swipe" if you are using a thin-bladed knife.
Second, you should use a feather-light touch when "swiping." The cutting edge of the knife is very thin, and you do not want to push it down in the groove and damage it. Use a long, sweeping stroke, light and smooth.
Third, to get the best use of this sharpener, every so often you'll have to clean out the metal dust that collects in the grooves. If the bottom of the groove is silvery-shiny when you look down at it, take a small, stiff, clean brush and whisk the groove until the original gray appears again.
I believe that the two slots on this sharpener correspond to the last two (and most gentle) slots on the manufacturer's three slot electric sharpeners. Thus, the first slot sharpens and the second slot hones. The first slot won't be used as often as the second slot.
The edge you get with this gizmo probably won't be as nice as the edge you'd get from an expert hand on the whetstone, but it will keep the family kitchen knives cutting well for many years.
Now that I have it in hand, though, I'm fairly certain I will never use the serrated feature. So I'm left worrying--what's the difference with this model? If I'm only going to do straight blades, would I be better off with the 450? Does this model compromise in some way to accommodate both types of blades?
Even for straight blades, it's not as easy to use as I expected. I thought it would be a simple matter of drawing the blade smoothly through the slot a few times. In practice, though, the blade catches and doesn't pull smoothly at all (although it did get better after many passes--you should definitely practice with a cheap knife before working on the good stuff). It's also difficult to keep the blade in the proper position. Or, I THINK it's difficult--according to the instructions, when everything is working right the little wheels will turn as you pull the blade through. At best I get one to turn at once, and even then it's usually stop and start. The instructions are hazy on whether this is a problem.
Actually, the instructions (and the company website) are hazy on a lot of things that seem like pretty reasonable questions. For instance, it says stage 1 and stage 2 sharpen at different angles, but nothing tells you WHAT angle, or says anything substantive the "arch-shaped" edge it creates. I'm left wondering if that's something I really want--it just seems to create a "fat" rather than razor edge, sacrificing maximum sharpness for durability.
It says that very dull knives may take many strokes in stage 1, but doesn't tell you how to know when it's ready for stage 2, other than it will be "sharp enough to cut through the skin of a tomato." I should keep tomatoes on hand for this?
Finally, the curved tip of the blade is extremely difficult to sharpen. At that point the rollers are no longer useful as a guide. The instructions offer no hints on how to deal with this.
It's definitely not the easy solution I was hoping for, and I still have a lot of questions about it. But, if you're not going to put in the time and effort to learn to use a whetstone properly (and I already know how much damage I can do with one of those), I'd say it's the best option.
The tool itself is nicely constructed. Even though it's made of really light plastic it's stable enough, and easy to work with.
But I wonder about the two rollers that supposedly guide your knife. After sharpening, it was pretty obvious that the blade was sharpened unevenly (certainly those of my pocketknives). The rollers, of course, are fixed, and thus don't allow for varying thicknesses. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong (although I'm following instructions to a T), and I'll keep trying, but so far I'm not wildly enthusiastic about this tool.

I'm an avid semi-professional cook/chef and have an extensive collection of knives and sharpeners, including an electric Chef's Choice. I bought this sharpener as a gift and had to try it out first (against my wife's express order). I sharpened one serrated and one regular knife just to see if this would do a good job. Today, I'm ordering another one to send as a belated Christmas gift to my son since I kept the one I tried out. If you need a sharpener, buy this -you will not be disappointed. It's easy (fool-proof!) to use, doesn't take up space, and puts on a razor-like edge in seconds (OK, maybe a minute or two). If your knife has a decent edge already, it hones with just a few strokes. This is a winner.Best Deals for Chef's Choice Multi-Edge Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener
I'm hopeless at knife sharpening, so I was shopping for something idiot-proof. I decided to go with the model 460 because it can sharpen serrated knives. Although the logistics of this didn't make a lot of sense to me, I went with it on the general principle that more features must be better. Now that I have it in hand, though, I'm fairly certain I will never use the serrated feature.
Honest reviews on Chef's Choice Multi-Edge Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener
I bought one of these for my mother in law as a Christmas present. Her knives were so dull that you couldn't cut hot butter with them. After a few strokes, what a differece. Her knives sliced thru a ripe tomato with ease. She has trouble using the simplest of tools(she refuses to read or follow directions), but this was so easy, even she could sharpen her knives with ease. I was so impressed that I bought one for my self. I keep an edge on my good knives, but this helped with some of my old knives that were beyond using on a steel. I definitely recommend this product.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Chef's Choice Multi-Edge Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener
Maybe this sharpener isn't as foolproof as I'd like it, and I admit readily to having two left hands, but my knives didn't come out razor-sharp, at all. They come out sharper, that's a fact, but I wanted more. Maybe my knives (a Japanese chef's knife, a Spyderco with half-serrated blade, a Herbertz with a 440 blade) were too dull to begin with.

Oneida Colonial Boston 45-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Set Reviews

BUYER BEWARE! These are being offered at a low price because they are actually 18/0 stainless steel, not 18/8 as Amazon specs incorrectly state.
The numbers 18/0 and 18/8 refer to the percentage of content of chromium and nickel. To be classified as stainless steel, the metal must contain at least 11% chromium (no nickel required). Stainless steel used in cookware is normally 18% chromium and 8% to 10% nickel.
Low end stainless steel cookware, mixing bowls, stockpots and accessories are usually 18/0, which are usually not highly polished, and could be subject to some rust spotting.
I went ahead and purchased it again in spite of negative comments here because I needed it for a visit from children and grandchildren. The set is basically attractive, and I have found that differences between the new set and my old set are not readily apparent in normal use. However, I agree with those who are disappointed in the downgrade of this pattern. Pieces feel lighter, particularly the knives, and the effort to make the knife handles look as hefty as their predecessors is unfortunate.
I have had the set only about a month so can't really assess its durability. However, so far I don't notice many scratches; and I am washing it in the dishwasher without seeing any corrosion.
A mere 4 weeks after purchase, I had washed them about 3 times (I don't go through a lot of utensils)and I began to get rust pitting on the spoons, clear evidence of the poor quality steel. I am using a dishwasher with a main brand of regular gel detergent, nothing fancy. The knives however were even worse! On some of the knives I got SEVERE rusting ALL up and down the handle to the point where its not even usable. Its to the point now where I find new degradation on every wash cycle, yet my old utensils Ive had for a decade are just as perfect as when I got them. The bottom line, this set is absolute garbage and I would not recommend this set to anyone. In fact, I am going to call Oneida and tell them how bad their product really is.
In regards to amazon, my order shipped out slower than EVERY other company I've ordered from online. The price was good which is why I purchased here and others seem to like Amazon but it has not been a great experience for a first time buy, I'm very skeptical about what you can get on here but ill give it another chance.

This is the third time I have purchased this pattern, the first two times having been a number of years ago. It is very similar to my sterling pattern, International's 1810; but as the price of silver increased over the years, I could not afford to add to my sterling. Boston Colonial was attractive and affordable for our growing family.I went ahead and purchased it again in spite of negative comments here because I needed it for a visit from children and grandchildren. I ordered this set because Amazon specs say it's 18/8 steel. However, when I received it, the box says 18/0 which is much lower quality. The pieces look really nice, and I wonder if maybe the box is wrong. Can't know so I'm sending it back.Honest reviews on Oneida Colonial Boston 45-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Set
I received this set and returned it within a month. It started rusting. I finally went to the Silver Superstore on line. They have a line of flatware that is made in the USA. Unfortunately, after Oneida closed their USA plant, it has become harder to find flatware that isn't made in China, Vietnam or Indonesia. Check out silversuperstore.com. They have a whole section of "not made in China" flatware.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Oneida Colonial Boston 45-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Set
This flatware set is the same pattern I have had in the past. I was given some when I went away to college and they were great. The set I have were stamped S.S.S made in USA by Oneida and were virtually care free, just use em throw em in the dishwasher and rinse and repeat. Normally I don't take time to review, but this set is so bad I just have to warn anyone looking at this item. This set I bought from amazon is absolute garbage, they were terrible from the moment I took them out of the box. They were clearly very poorly made. First of all the box says they are 18/0 steel which is not what I ordered, the utensils themselves say 5/10 made in Indonesia and the website here said 18/10...very confusing. So I looked it up, Oneida's website classes them as casual flatware, which is listed as 18/0. The pieces themselves looked like they had been quickly polished, or dipped in some kind of plating that was not on the handles. The handles look more like brushed steel, and there were definitely a difference between the handles and the business end. Also, the handles were rough and sharp on some sides, and smooth on others with no consistency at all. They were also covered in spots with a black soot that might have been from the forging but did not come out with washing. I should have sent them back but I'm new to amazon and don't have a lot of time and I did not wan to mess with it for 50$. So I kept them...and things got worse.A mere 4 weeks after purchase, I had washed them about 3 times (I don't go through a lot of utensils)and I began to get rust pitting on the spoons, clear evidence of the poor quality steel. We love this product. If you are like us and don't want a thousand single-use products in your home, you may really like this grill. We use it in the winter to grill steaks and get those beautiful lines. We use it to grill veggies. (My favorite: asparagus with some olive oil. Then sprinkle with sea salt and garlic powder). But our most recent use, paninis!!! I made a cheese and ham sandwich on italian pugliese bread or chiabatta, sprayed with a little grapeseed oil and put it down on the grill, put a cast iron pan on top of it as a press, then flipped it over and did the same. Our paninis looked beautiful and tasted out of this world!
Update in Nov 09. It isn't always easy to keep clean. Still love it.
#1 The spatter mess there is virutally no way to prevent splatter when using this pan creating an unneccessary amount of post-cooking clean-up.
#2 There is no option of purchasing a lid
#3 The pan itself has an odd rectangular shape that does not fit on one burner or two for that matter. Thus, somewhere while cooking you have a cool spot.
PRO: Love the compact size, doesn't get in the way of other dishes while still providing a lot of grill space. Fabulous to be grilling stove top in all weather without a fancy stove or pulling out the BBQ. I wouldn't dream of using toxic non-stick coated grills that spew out toxins when heated to grilling temperatures(surely well above the recommended 400 degrees F for non-stick?) So cast iron like this one is definitely the way to go for grilling.
Con: Probably worth the money over say a lodge only if you are looking for matched cookware to your existing le creuset pieces since the grill surface is simply like the inexpensive lodge pre-seasoned cast iron. I personally would not have bothered to buy it, it came as a freebie with my 7 something quart le creuset dutch oven from amazon. (That dutch oven BTW is worth every penny!)

It says this is a 2 burner grill pan but that is so wrong. It does not cover 2 burners it sits in the middle of each burner causing the handles to be right ove both burners. Very dissapointing, I love the le creuset normally and was really looking forward to having a grill pan made by them. Unfortuanatelly due to the shape it will not work for just one burner either. Hopefully they will come out with an updated one, until then my search for a good 2 burner grill pan continues.Best Deals for Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron Skinny Grills
I just purchased a glass top stove and bought this because of the protective bottom. However, after using it several times, I would choose a different grill because of the following reasons:#1 The spatter mess there is virutally no way to prevent splatter when using this pan creating an unneccessary amount of post-cooking clean-up.
#2 There is no option of purchasing a lid
#3 The pan itself has an odd rectangular shape that does not fit on one burner or two for that matter. Thus, somewhere while cooking you have a cool spot.

While some don't like the size of this grill pan, I find it easy to work with. Just position the middle of the grill pan over the burner and heat slowly for even temperature throughout. The fact that 3 other burners are free while I grill meat on this grill is helpful in cooking other dishes for the meal. The patina does take a while to build but now I use very little (if any) grease to make it nonstick. I found that cleaning works best with a quick soak after the grill cools. Just some dish soap and enough water to soak the grill for 20 min or so was enough for easy cleanup with a plastic brush. Before the patina develops, there is a bit more careful cleanup but this diminishes over time. I've enjoyed this grill for over a year and it is a staple part of my kitchen.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron Skinny Grills
It does stick a great deal if you don't season it occasionally. And true, its an odd shape. I have an old old stove with tiny burners right now, and it takes close to 10 minutes to heat up evenly on these awful gas burners, and doesn't do a great job if you put a second batch on right away because of the cold spots. but it used to work great on my thermador professional gas stove that had large burners pumping out lots of BTU. Works great on a standard electric smoothtop for my s-i-l too.PRO: Love the compact size, doesn't get in the way of other dishes while still providing a lot of grill space.
