I have another review for a product that was under "French Home" and just like that one, this product is actually a Chasseur product. Made in France, this cast iron enameled brasier heats up fast and evenly. It is 12" in diameter and holds a lot of food. The creme color goes with my stainless steel cookware from All Clad and actually sits on my induction stove because of how nice it looks. This item cleans up nice and easy however, it is dishwasher safe. I have used it to make baked Mac & Cheese and everything came off with just Dawn and a Scotchbrite pad. Definitely nice to put in the middle of your table but make sure you have a trivet since it retains heat well even after removing it from the stove or oven to prevent burning your tablecloth or table. I have other products from similar competitors (Emile Henry, Lodge, Revol, Le Creuset) and this brasier is a definite contender against these brands. The instructions do say not to use metal utensils with this item.

i purchased this mixer about a year ago when it first came out. the mixer is very well built, and i really like the bowl lift feature. i work in a kitchen, and have been around hobart mixers large and small. im more used to using the hobarts than the kitchenaids, so let me give you a little comparison with the 12 quart we have at work.

the kitchenaid is kind of loud...not terribly loud, and certainly quieter than all the other kitchenaid mixers on the market. still slightly on the loud side though. not a problem for me though.

this mixer will mix large amounts of dough for extended periods of time. i've kneaded quadruple batches for 10+ minutes and the kitchenaid did it without breaking a sweat. where this mixer is most like a hobart is in this. it will turn that dough without any hint of motor lag. it just motors right through it. there's no drop in RPMs, nothing.

it fits nicely under the cabinets above, and the red looks great against the cherry cabinets.

the finish does not scratch easily, and is very easy to clean. the dough hook works a lot better than the older style dough hook. the bowl is very nicely made of thick steel. my only issue with that is that i'd have liked if they included the open handle bowl with the machine. as it stands the bowl is not able to be stacked easily, due to the full D shaped handle.

overall i've had a fantastic experience with this mixer. i feel like it cannot be beat for the price. it's nowhere near as much as a tank as the hobart N50, but that mixer is also for commercial kitchens, and costs 2000 dollars vs. the kitchenaids under 600. in my opinion this is the best mixer you can buy for the money anywhere. it is leaps and bounds better than the 5qt and pro 600 mixers, which dont, or didn't have metal gearing, as well as have a tendency to overheat when doing large batches of dough. this mixer will take anything you can throw at it and will not lug at all. it's a great design by kitchenaid.

This mixer replaced my old kitchenaid lift mixer. I've had it for about six months now, and it has performed perfectly for everything I've thrown at it. Small cake mix, four loaves of pumpkin bread, double batch of chocolate chip cookies, whipped cream frosting and more. The best part is that I can run the pasta attachment to make homemade spaghetti in a double batch, without overheating the motor, even at the highest speeds. Ditto for making orange juice with the attachment. The second best part? It's much, much quieter than the smaller mixers. I should have bought this years ago. It is taller and a little wider than my old mixer, so it just barely fits in my cabinet when not in use.

I owned the 600 series mixer for a handful of years, but it just wasn't powerful enough to handle the large quantities of bread dough I make, especially around the holidays. I decided to upgrade to this mixer when an opportunity to purchase with a discount arose. The best thing about this mixer so far is the fact that it is so much quieter than my older 6-qt mixer. Even the highest settings are quieter than the lowest on my old one. After making my first batch of bread dough I was more than happy I made this purchase.

The mixer itself is no bigger than the 6-qt mixer (which is nice because my ice cream mixer, purchased for the 6-qt, will work on this mixer as well), but the extra quart in the bowl makes a difference to me while dealing with my larger batches. The extra wattage is also incredibly wonderful. My previous (575 watt) mixer often overheated while running the dough hook for too long or after the 2nd or 3rd batch of dough. With the 1.3 HP of this mixer, I haven't had a problem yet and don't see there ever being one!

For anyone that bakes a lot, especially heavier, thicker dough, I highly recommend this Proline mixer!

P.S. As far as KitchenAid's customer service goes, they are fantastic. When I used my mixer for the first time, the dough hook was machined just slightly off and wouldn't lock on to the mixer. KitchenAid sent a new dough hook right away, no questions asked. I don't even need to return the bad hook. I couldn't be happier!

After having a really bad experience with the kitchenaid 600 series (have gone through 2 motors, loud, vibration etc) I didn't know what to replace it with. Then I read a review on Amazon about this proline. I ordered it and I'm really pleased. Great motor, less noisy, quick whipping. It even looks nice...love the pearly white. Such an improvement. I cook for my family, and use my mixer 4-5 days a week. The motor is well worth the money. And they have a great warranty!

I use this mixer for a flour that is 50% freshly milled oat flour. This results in a dough that is much stiffer (and much more sticky) than whole wheat flour. With 3.5 pounds of dough this mixer powers through the job without even warming up! It is always good to get a 'work saving' appliance that will do the job hopefully for years without problems.

We love this product. If you are like us and don't want a thousand single-use products in your home, you may really like this grill. We use it in the winter to grill steaks and get those beautiful lines. We use it to grill veggies. (My favorite: asparagus with some olive oil. Then sprinkle with sea salt and garlic powder). But our most recent use, paninis!!! I made a cheese and ham sandwich on italian pugliese bread or chiabatta, sprayed with a little grapeseed oil and put it down on the grill, put a cast iron pan on top of it as a press, then flipped it over and did the same. Our paninis looked beautiful and tasted out of this world!

Update in Nov 09. It isn't always easy to keep clean. Still love it.

It says this is a 2 burner grill pan but that is so wrong. It does not cover 2 burners it sits in the middle of each burner causing the handles to be right ove both burners. Very dissapointing, I love the le creuset normally and was really looking forward to having a grill pan made by them. Unfortuanatelly due to the shape it will not work for just one burner either. Hopefully they will come out with an updated one, until then my search for a good 2 burner grill pan continues.

I just purchased a glass top stove and bought this because of the protective bottom. However, after using it several times, I would choose a different grill because of the following reasons:

#1 The spatter mess there is virutally no way to prevent splatter when using this pan creating an unneccessary amount of post-cooking clean-up.

#2 There is no option of purchasing a lid

#3 The pan itself has an odd rectangular shape that does not fit on one burner or two for that matter. Thus, somewhere while cooking you have a cool spot.

While some don't like the size of this grill pan, I find it easy to work with. Just position the middle of the grill pan over the burner and heat slowly for even temperature throughout. The fact that 3 other burners are free while I grill meat on this grill is helpful in cooking other dishes for the meal. The patina does take a while to build but now I use very little (if any) grease to make it nonstick. I found that cleaning works best with a quick soak after the grill cools. Just some dish soap and enough water to soak the grill for 20 min or so was enough for easy cleanup with a plastic brush. Before the patina develops, there is a bit more careful cleanup but this diminishes over time. I've enjoyed this grill for over a year and it is a staple part of my kitchen.

It does stick a great deal if you don't season it occasionally. And true, its an odd shape. I have an old old stove with tiny burners right now, and it takes close to 10 minutes to heat up evenly on these awful gas burners, and doesn't do a great job if you put a second batch on right away because of the cold spots. but it used to work great on my thermador professional gas stove that had large burners pumping out lots of BTU. Works great on a standard electric smoothtop for my s-i-l too.

PRO: Love the compact size, doesn't get in the way of other dishes while still providing a lot of grill space. Fabulous to be grilling stove top in all weather without a fancy stove or pulling out the BBQ. I wouldn't dream of using toxic non-stick coated grills that spew out toxins when heated to grilling temperatures(surely well above the recommended 400 degrees F for non-stick?) So cast iron like this one is definitely the way to go for grilling.

Con: Probably worth the money over say a lodge only if you are looking for matched cookware to your existing le creuset pieces since the grill surface is simply like the inexpensive lodge pre-seasoned cast iron. I personally would not have bothered to buy it, it came as a freebie with my 7 something quart le creuset dutch oven from amazon. (That dutch oven BTW is worth every penny!)

The glasses are beautiful to look at and a pleasure to hold. There is no problem with condensation, even in the humid southern heat.

Complaints about their fragility are a bit confusing. I would never dream of dropping ice cubes directly into nice crystal, and I would not drop ice cubes directly into these glasses either; they are not Wal-Mart tumblers, and should not be treated as such. That said, mine regularly go through the normal cycle in the dishwasher with no problems. I purchased them (8 in all) several months ago, have not lost even one due to breakage, and take great pleasure in using them.

Other people who have reviewed Bodum glassware elsewhere in Amazon have complained that ice cubes cause these glasses to break. These double-wall glasses are made of borosilicate glass, which is highly resistant to sudden changes in temperature. But the glass walls are as thin as a lightbulb maybe even thinner so they must be treated with a LOT of care. Dropping ice cubes into an empty Bodum glass from any height at all will give you the same result as dropping a rock into it. My guess is that the breakage suffered by other users is probably due to manufacturing defects when the two layers of hand-blown glass are being annealed together.

I ordered mine through Sur la Table, and they arrived VERY well protected. I find that hot beverages don't stay hot any longer in these double-wall glasses than in any other glass or mug, so I gave it 4 stars rather than 5. But these glasses DO have a unique appearance and makes the liquid inside look like it's floating in mid-air. The walls are so thin that when I first unwrapped them I thought they were made of Lexan polycarbonate or some other nonglass material because they don't feel or sound like glass.

I read all the reviews and had to put my two cents in. These glasses are quite sturdy, don't feel like a Christmas ornament like someone said, and are very beautiful. They are somewhat costly and need to be handled with care, so I wouldn't recommend dropping ice in them while dry. However, if the inner glass broke you would definitely notice. All you would need to do is look at the tumbler to see that the inner glass is broken and the liquid has spilled into the outer glass. There is no way you would be in danger of swallowing glass. I give them four stars only because I did notice a very slight condensation when the glass was full of icy liquid, and for 10 dollars a piece I don't think there should be any.

day the score is one down one to go. Despite extraordinary caution I still notice the inner glass lining broken. There was very little liklyhood of ingesting the glass , but at 10 buck apiece you expect to use them more than twice.

This fry pan is the perfect size to cook a couple of large eggs or make a nice grilled cheese sandwich. this finish is really nice. the bottom has the rings on it to help with the heat distribution and the weight of the skillet.

this skillet is high quality and a great bargain for the price.

Buy Calphalon Stainless Utensils Skimmer

I do a lot of baking and have always had difficulty getting a nice, thin layer of flour on the surface if I needed to roll dough out or shape bread. When I saw the Calphalon Stainless Skimmer with its lifetime warranty I thought it might work for my purposes. What a wonderful find! I can put some flour onto the top of the skimmer and then gently tap its edge. The result is an even, light dusting of flour on my work surface and a lot less mess than using other methods.

Further, when I am done working on the surface I can use a scraper to gather up the excess flour. Then I put it on the skimmer again and gently sift out any dough scraps so that I can reuse the dusting flour when I need to flour another work surface. Although some may balk at my recycling flour, when the price got so high several years ago, I decided it wasn't economical to throw out the remaining dusting flour.

I also found this skimmer ideal for turning bagels during the boiling process. When both sides have gone through that process, I use this skimmer to remove them to the baking sheet. Because it is a fine mesh, the water drains completely and there is a lot less mess.

The Calphalon Stainless Skimmer is a well made, sturdy item that should last for many years. The edge finish is smooth, the mesh seems to have no loose ends, and the rubberized grip prevents the skimmer from slipping when my hand is wet or greasy. Although this fine utensil works very well for skimming soups, broths, and sauces, I urge you not to limit its functions to only those areas. You will find this is a great multi-purpose kitchen tool and well worth adding to your collection.

If you make your own stocks, or home made soups, this item will save you time. Makes skimming stocks a breeze. The product is well made, the rubberized handle is great for tapping on the edge of the pot to get the liquid to pass though so it doesn't end up on the floor as you make your way to the sink. The skimmer works splendidly, lifting foam and even fat off of simmered liquids with its fine screen. I was hoping it would last indefinitely. I would give it five stars if the welds holding the handle to the screen mounting hadn't broken after three years (I tapped it on the side of the sink and the ring holding the mesh simply fell off). I would give it three stars if I weren't going to replace it with the same model.

It's the right size (about 3.5 inches) and is highly functional as skimmer and fine-mesh strainer. It has the second-finest mesh in my kitchen, being slightly finer than a single layer of cheesecloth. The handle is comfortable, if bulky (taking up room in the canister I use to store it). The handle's rubber grips your hand and also every other handle in the canister on my kitchen counter where I store it (a slight downside). If you store it in a drawer, that would be no problem. I want faster access to it. The angle between the handle and the screen is just right. Shame I have to buy it again, but I am buying it again.

It is a bit larger than I actually wanted,(the business end is about the size of a man's palm) but it works very well. I have no idea how these cookie sheets actually will work for baking as the measurements are inaccurate and the cookie sheets are too large for my oven/oven racks. The measurements provided are interior measurements and do not include the 1/2" lip on each long side and 2.25 handles on each end.

When one orders via internet it is essential that the information be totally accurate and detailed; the measurements should include both interior and exterior dimensions so one can see if it will work for their needs and within any limitations there may be.

Amazon shouldn't be just posting information by rote; there must be a human-beings in your QA department that checks information provided on the packaging or by the manufacturer and either corrects, update or includes additional information so the consumer can make an informed decision.

It's extremely aggravating to have to return something due to the inaccuracy or incompleteness of the information. We consumers rely upon the accuracy of the information posted; Amazon has to be our eyes it isn't as if we can go into the local store to check out a high percentage of the items available on Amazon; they're simply not available locally; that's why we shop via Amazon.

A perfect product. Not often I find something that I can't figure out how it could be improved.

This is my 2nd Camp Chef Griddle. 1st one is huge, covers two big propane burners. It works REALLY good but is a bit large for some of my applications. Did loan it out for a non-profit cookout. They liked it so well? They ordered 3 of them for their next outing.

This one is just about too large for using in the kitchen. I have tried it out twice on the electric range in the kitchen. Works for me. NOT quite long enough to bridge two burners across the front and is, perhaps, a couple inches too long to go over one front and rear burner. But I do it anyway and it works great. Have done all kinds of things on it that turned out really good.

Kept the carton it came in and I'm using that as a carry case and it works. Have not yet tried it over a propane stove. Already convinced that it will work fine whenever I get around to doing that in the great outdoors.

So far I've been really impressed with all Camp Chef products.

This griddle is very heavy and not conducive to washing unless you are using a very big sink. I washed it in my kitchen sink with several plastic sink liners to prevent scratching the sink. It will rust so after washing you have to oil it.

Even though the instructions said to heat to medium heat to prevent warping, it still warped. The warp is not too bad but it rocks slightly when sitting on the bbq grill and causes liquids to pool in one corner.

I would have give it a higher rating if it did not warp despite following the instructions. I eventually bought a cast iron griddle made by the bbq manufactuer and that one does not warp.

I didn't notice all the other reviews about this box. It's very attractive the wood was dry when it arrived so I rubbed in a little mineral oil on the outside and it looks really good. However it is really big. I already filled it up, so I can't measure, but EACH SIDE probably holds about a cup to a cup and a half of salt.

Paula Deen Wooden Round 2-Compartment Salt Box is pretty and looks nice on the kitchen counter, as long as it lasts. I have had mine since September 26, 2012, today is December 11, 2012 - just near 2 months. The wood is splitting in two different places. Eventually the salt will start coming through the box, making a mess on my counter. I'm already looking for a better replacement. Forget about returning it. It will cost too much to ship it back to them, out of my pocket. Duh? Their item is inferior and I have to pay to send it back to get another one. Sorry Paula, but wait, why am I saying sorry? I would not recommend this salt box. I'm thinking metal would be better, salt is corrosive to the wood perhaps?

Since this review my round box by Paula Deen has split in 2 places on the bottom where the salt touches it. Probably not the nicest of woods to use with salt. Not happy. I will buy another type salt keeper soon. NOT HAPPY? Today is December 28, 2012, not even a month since my last review if this salt keeper and its splitting apart.

I love the quality and appearance of this dish. I use it mainly for quiche, and it's perfect! It cleans up sooo easily, still looks like new and I've had it over a year. As the description states, it cooks evenly. My quiches turn out better than when I used to use a pie pan. In my opinion, you can't beat quality ceramic for cooking. One reason I chose porcelain over stoneware is the weight. I prefer the lighter weight of porcelain because it's easier to pick up, and does not add as much weight in my cupboard. I could have gone with a cheaper brand made in China, but I try to stay away from dishes made in China due to the lack of quality. I don't trust that the glazes will not contain lead. Also, the Pillivuyt company has been making their porcelain for a very long time, and the quality is definitely worth the additional cost. This dish will last a lifetime. I like it so much, I bought another in the 8" size!

...pots and pans, but the spatula and stuff that comes with it are cheapy. One handle on the large pot gets hot when I am cooking (which is weird because the other side is fine to touch) and there is one lid that the top gets hot on (but others are fine). Weird but other than that great set! If you remember to use pot holders then it will be fine :) They do heat evenly and do not scratch easily. Overall good product!

I have had Tfal for many years but they were getting pretty bad. These I picked out for the lids and sizes of the pans, dutch oven, etc. Nothing sticks, no need to own a strainer, if one does a lot of cooking, would probably need a larger set, I don't.

Yes the handles on the lids get hot, but hey... if that's the only problem with these, i'll take it! This is my second set, (first set I got was all stainless and I prefer nonstick). These hold up fantastic to everyday use. If you want a quality cook set that's inexpensive and will last this is the set to get.

So far, I've had nothing but joy from this collection of nonstick pots and pans. The included nylon utensils help you to make certain you do not damage the nonstick surface, and as long as you care for these pans, nothing seems to stick to them. They can be washed almost as easily as my ceramic pan.

The strainer lids are also exceptionally handy. These were a major selling point for me. I hate to have to get out the strainer or colander all the time. It's a pain to deal with it, and it's a pain to clean. The strainer lids allow me to make most dishes without bothering with external strainers. They are secure and snug, and the handles don't seem to get very hot, either.

If you're looking for a good set of pots and pans, this is a great set. I highly recommend it. The price is decent, they look nice, and they do the job very well. I consider this money well spent.

No question that high quality cookware is easier to work with, lasts longer and produces better results. I've been using All Clad for years and swear by it. However, the coating on all non-stick cookware, whether it's All Clad, Calphalon or whatever, wears out over time, no matter how careful you are. So why pay $150 for the name All Clad on a 12" non stick pan when $50 gets you a very similar pan with the same coating from Nordicware? I actually have 8" non sticks from both Nordicware and All Clad and I detect no difference in heft, durability or results. The value is so good that I bought an 8", 10" AND 12" Nordicware for less than one 10" All Clad.

I recently bought a 8", 10" and 12" Nordic Restaurant skillets with lids and I am very happy with the purchase. The skillets are everything they are advertised to be. You notice it from the moment you pick it up. They are heavy and solid and I am sure will give years of great service. And to top it off they are made in the USA...to me that means something.

This is no nonsense restaurant quality cookware. It doesn't have a 4 layer bottom made of layers of copper, iron, Damascus steel and silver. It's not coated with titanium or plated with gold. The handle isn't graceful and elegant. It isn't very pretty. Who cares? If you have to cook a lot, and don't always treat your pans like exquisite kitchen jewelry, this one is for you. This is one tough pan. Nordic is not kidding with the name; this is commercial grade stuff.

The no-stick coating works very well, and it's tough enough to stand up to occasional use of metal utensils. The rubber handle cover comes off for cleaning, and to allow you to put the pan in the oven; you can bake in it if you want to. The metal handle is attached with giant rivets; it's never ever going to come lose. Use the rubber handle cover; it gives you a nice big gripping surface and it stays cool.

It's not going to last forever. But I've got 3 years out of mine so far, and it's still in great shape. Very good cost:performance ratio.

I'm on my third set of 8", 10" and 12" Nordic Ware non-stick skillets. My wife and I are very satisfied with the performance of these skillets. Cooks Illustrated is right, being non-stick, they naturally wear over time, so why purchase expensive brands that will be replaced. These skillets are very well made (riveted handles, long-lasting non-stick surface, multiple layer aluminum, nicely tapered sides) and they heat up quickly and cook evenly. The rubber handles are removable in case the skillet needs to go into the oven. Don't be put off by the phrase "Restaurant grade." These are excellant skillets in the home environment. And, they are made in the USA.
