I have another review for a product that was under "French Home" and just like that one, this product is actually a Chasseur product. Made in France, this cast iron enameled brasier heats up fast and evenly. It is 12" in diameter and holds a lot of food. The creme color goes with my stainless steel cookware from All Clad and actually sits on my induction stove because of how nice it looks. This item cleans up nice and easy however, it is dishwasher safe. I have used it to make baked Mac & Cheese and everything came off with just Dawn and a Scotchbrite pad. Definitely nice to put in the middle of your table but make sure you have a trivet since it retains heat well even after removing it from the stove or oven to prevent burning your tablecloth or table. I have other products from similar competitors (Emile Henry, Lodge, Revol, Le Creuset) and this brasier is a definite contender against these brands. The instructions do say not to use metal utensils with this item.

I like Extend ShakesExtendShake, 3-Flavor Variety Pack, 5-Count Servings (Pack of 3), but mixing them can be a problem. I make them with either cold water or cold skim milk and I have a tough time removing the "lumps." But the Lock & Lock Large Shaker solved my problem.

I do not use this as a drinking vessel. It is a "shaker", so I use it for blending liquids and powders. The Lock & Lock Shaker mixes the powder into the liquid. First, it has a top that seals so well that it is water tight (so no spills). Second, it has a gyro like removable mixer that fits into the shaker and helps the ingredients to blend.

One of the better features is the patented 4-hinge lock. When in the lock position, the lid is air and water tight, which makes it perfect for storing in the refrigerator.

I like this product.

I highly recommend the Lock & Lock Large Shaker for anyone who mixes drinks, makes shakes, or blends other liquids.

I ordered two of these because it's a great idea to have a snap on lid. The tops are not at all what is pictured on the site. The hinge is recessed and the top only opens half way. It is impossible to drink out of!!! Do not buy this!!!

does it mix? yes. does it secure well? yes. is it airtight? yes. could a three year old come up with a better design for a mixer? yes.

it is not what is pictured, the plastic cover of the drinking apparatus only goes back half way. acceptable for people who dont have a nose, but if you do have a nose, you have to drink from it sideways.

just poorly designed, constructed well though.

Honest reviews on Lock & Lock Large Shaker, 2.9 Cups, Colors may vary

I purchased this shaker to serve as a slightly higher-capacity salad dressing shaker than my long-used, beloved Tupperware Salad dressing shaker (2 cups). Yes, it does have slightly more capacity but there is a design flaw in that the center disk, that is supposed to assist with mixing, does not stay in place while shaking. It flips sideways and will not stay seated horizontally (like my Tupperware one does). Needless to say, I find this quite aggravating I would return it; however, it would cost more to ship back than the initial item cost. So, off to the "donate" box it goes! I purchased a different product at Target which has more capacity and a different design. Hopefully that one will do the trick!

These shaker cups are great, but a little over kill. We bought these to make salad dressings and mix powdered shakes. They work great for both purpose, quite capable of ensuring all powder is dissolved. We have had no issues with and leaking from the seals or the pop top lid. My only complaint is the heavy duty hinges on the lid. While they do create a water proof seal, we also have a few comparable shakers using screw top lids. The hinged design is wonderful, but makes the shaker top heavy and prone to tipping when nearly empty and also takes up a lot of space in the dishwasher and cabinet shelves.

Cooks Illustrated gave this sharpener a very strong review (their best-of-class as I recall) and I reluctantly laid down my trusty sharpening steel to give it a try. Once I got this special 3-beveled edge on our knives I never regretted the decision to switch. What's particularly nice is that the edge returns so easily with a quick touch-up on the finest setting.

I've also notice virtually no obvious loss of metal on the knives after many touch-ups, a problem with other sharpeners that can quickly consume your blades. If you want an edge that makes you feel more like a surgeon than a chef, this will deliver.

[The only downside is that it's no good for serrated knives, but their newer model 120 will handle them too.]

I am a carpenter, not a chef. However, as such, I know the value of sharp tools. They cut faster, easier and are much safer. A dull tool or knife is unpredictable and this makes it more dangerous than a sharp one.

My wife (a much better cook than me) and I have some high quality knives and some knives of dubious quality. I took about 1 hour and sharpened about 10 of them. The results were great. It is a little tricky to get used to holding the knife while in the slots... you are kind of balancing it in your hand instead of holding it. You have to let the magnets guide it. After a few knives, it was much easier.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that I can get a quality knife a little sharper with one of my wetstones. This only applies to the good knives I have. What I do is sharpen the good ones on the machine, then finish with a few swipes on my stone. It is a lot faster than doing the whole thing by hand.

The lower quality knives don't seem to respond to this as well. However, they are MUCH sharper than they were before.

I'm a hunter and a fisherman (mostly fisherman) and have had a devil of a time over the years keeping fillet knives sharp. In order to fillet a fish, a knife sharp is everything. I used the chef's choice sharpener on my fillet knives and it got them almost razor sharp. Encouraged, I went and sharpened all the kitchen knives and the box full of pocket knives that I have received for birthdays and so forth over the years. I have nothing but good things to say about this product. Highly recommended!

Honest reviews on Chef's Choice 110 Professional Diamond Hone Sharpener

I just received the sharpener today along with a Henckels santoku. I sharpened a half dozen of the old Henckels at home and found the sharpening process to be very quick. The last time I had sharpened the knives was on a whetstone and this process is definitely much faster. I can get the knives about as sharp as the manual process. I was hoping for the 'razor' sharp edge that comes with the brand new knives, but it seems that may not be achievalble with the tool. I used the new knife as a benchmark, and it was not possible for me to get the same degree of sharpness. The machine does provide edges, though, that are definitely usable, and probably better than the average person can achieve on a whetstone. And much faster.

I first followed the instructions that came with the sharpener, and it was quite hard to grasp. It asks the user to hold the knife lightly and let the magnet align the knife. What worked for me was to look directly over the machine so that I can see the contact between the knife edge and the moving abrasive. By looking at the angle and trying to keep the angle consistent, working with the magnet becomes quite intuitive. By trying to keep the angle constant, the hand subconsciously lets the magnet align the knife. If you pull the knife blindly, this process doesn't work quite as well... at least at the beginning, I suppose, since I just started to use the product.

Overall I am happy with the sharpener, and would use this over manual sharpening any day. If I were a sushi chef who whose life depended on the sharp edge, I would probably not use it, but to keep a set of knives at a reasonable condition for everyday cooking, the machine is definitely more than adequate.

I purchased the Chef's Choice Model 110 and used it to sharpen a knife [not mine] that had been previously damaged by someone trying to sharpen the knife on a grinding wheel. While the 110 could not correct the cosmetic damage done to the knife, it did restore a very sharp edge to the knife. I look forward to sharpening MY knives and maintaining a razor sharp edge.

Before discarding that knife, try the model 110 and save cash!

I purchased this item for making soap. It's the perfect size because it's not too big or too small. It's large enough that I don't have to worry about splashing my counter tops (or myself) with lye or oils. I also purchased an induction hot plate to use with this item, but I'm pleased that it can accommodate both my electric stove top and the induction top. The material is sturdy and well constructed. I received my item very quickly and I'm very pleased with this transaction.

We have a flock of six birds two Congo African Greys, two Green Cheeked Conures, a Sun Conure, and a Cockatiel. As many people know, most non-stick cookware gives off PTFEs which are fatal to birds at a certain level (and probably not good for them at ANY level). When we got the babies, we disposed of probably close to $500 in 'non-stick' cookware, one set being an almost brand new set of Cuisinart that was NOT Green Gourmet. We were told initially that it was okay to use non-stick as long as we did not overheat it, and as long as we used the range vent while cooking. I began to research and found cases where bird owners shared stories of pans that were not overheated yet their birds died in their arms. And who can guarantee they won't forget a pan on the stove? A Teflon-type pan, overheated, can kill birds in minutes, with no way to save them. I was not taking any chances. It all went. From bakeware to my pots and pans. We were looking around for cast iron, when I stumbled upon Green Gourmet which is completely free of PTFE and PFOA. I even wrote to Cuisinart to be sure it was safe for birds, and they were kind enough to promptly reply and set my mind at ease. The cookware is great practically wipes clean. I am very careful with it, using only bamboo or plastic utensils. We have two types. This set with the stainless steel exterior, and a hard-anodized aluminum skillet that my mother-in-law bought. All of it works great and looks great. I even burned a pan of cranberry sauce you know the stuff cranberries, water and SUGAR, in the small saucepan! (All I could think was that if this had been my OLD cookware, the birds would have likely died from this mistake!) The sugar was a black crust on the bottom and was hard as a rock. I have burned sugar in cheap pans before and had to toss them. Not this stuff. A few minutes in a hot soapy sink full of water, and I scraped the crust off with a plastic knife. I am very impressed at how easily food washes off. We have had these since September 2011 (they were my birthday gift) and they look just as good now as they did new. I would recommend these to anyone but ESPECIALLY to bird owners as a safe alternative to other Teflon-type non-stick!

I purchased this pan along with a lid from a different website than Amazon, and have had it for about three months. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

This pan has a great heft to it, which means that you can stir or manipulate the food inside one-handed without the whole thing sliding around.

The interior stainless, while a little bit stickier (because its slightly less finished) than other clad cookware, performs great and cleans up wonderfully. I always hand wash my cookware, and this item looks brand new on the outside. The inside shows use from metal utensils, but that's part of the life of a stainless pan.

The cast iron handle will (slowly) heat up as the pan is left on a burner, but I actually find it to be a good indicator of the pan's heat. Also, I find the handle super comfortable and easy to maneuver when pouring. The only disadvantage is that it's important to dry the area around the handle well to completely avoid rust. You can also season it like a cast iron pan to help the issue, though it'd be best to remove the protective coating on it first.

The pouring lip is a wonderful touch. So much of what I cook in a saute pan has a liquid component, and it's great to be able to avoid dribbles.

Aside from the slight tendency toward rust around the handle (which is more of a cosmetic issue than structural, really), the only other thing I find a little annoying about this pan is how it is prone to heat discoloration. Almost everything I cook in it seems to leave heat rings inside, and any heat above medium slightly discolors the bottom of the pan. A little vinegar after washing cleans it up to sparkling again, but it's a step that I don't have to do with all of my cookware. Oh, and though not related to the pan itself, the sticker that comes on the inside is really tough to get off. I soaked it in hot water and then used some vodka to get it loose, but I don't think such steps should be a prerequisite to even cleaning a pan.

Essentially, this is a high-performance pan with great aesthetics. When you've decided to enter this price range while buying cookware, I think the biggest differences are in appearance and feel, whereas performance will be pretty reliable no matter what the brand. I chose this brand mainly because of its great history, awesome style, and induction compatibility, though I'm equally happy with some of my pans that were half the price. Other brands that I considered were All-Clad, Demeyere, Fissler, Sitram, and Viking. I recommend holding a pan before you buy it; no amount of research can replace that.

This is a pretty good pan, although with 2 flaws.

#1: it is not leakproof, good for cheesecakes but not for liquid desserts (flan)

#2: the removable tray has a 1/2 cm lip that raised, so it's very difficult to remove the dessert out of the tray. I made a flourless chocolate cake, and part of it stayed in the tray. Very messy and not esthetically appealing!

On the positive side, the metal is sturdy and the latch is easy to maneuver, but if I could buy another pan, I would.

I own several different pans in this range, and they all have some weight to them, which I much prefer when baking. The pan is solid and doesn't warp. It also conducts heat quite evenly. I've baked cheesecakes in it and have not experienced any leakage, however I tend to line the base with greaseproof paper before I close the tin around it when baking cheesecakes (so the paper sticks out from the bottom of the tin). I would recommend this pan purely because of it's weight which makes baking a much more pleasurable experience.

Best Deals for Circulon Nonstick Bakeware 9-Inch Springform Pan

I used this to make an Italian Cheesecake. It baked up fine and after cooling, it was an easy release. So it does do what it is supposed to do.

The problem I had was washing it. Apparently it did end up leaking into the bottom crevice of the circle outside. If it were truly non-drip, I would like it even more.

So I enjoyed an easy bake for the cheesecake but a bit of trouble cleaning the pan.

This is absolutey an awesome pan, and when you factor the price, its a steal. The Quantanium nonstick coating allows you to saute, with no worries about sticking, or scorching. If you want to finish off a dish in the broiler or oven, its oven safe up to 500 degrees. The riveted stay-cool steel handle allows you to handle the pot while cooking without a potholder, wich is nice if you like to make quick sauces or gravies and pour it right onto food on the plate, also never worry about the handle getting lose. And also while cooking you dont have to open the pot to monitor food, and lose steam or heat due to the break-resistant tempered glass lid. Perfect Perfect Perfect pot.

I purchased both the Cuisinart Hard-Anodized 1-1/2 quart and 2 quart saucepans and am very impressed with the build quality, performance, styling, looks, and value. I have used both several times and find that they distribute heat evenly and work very well on low to medium electric stove burner settings. Clean-up is a snap; hot soapy water makes these saucepans look like they came right from the box. The handles do not get too hot and the non-stick interior shows no sign of deterioration. The glass lids -nice feature -fit just right, however, their handles do get hot so a hotpad is a must.

These saucepans are not as thick or heavy as their Calphalon counterparts but perform just a well and cost less. I think that Cuisinart's non-stick surface is superior to Calphalon's. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized Saucepan with Cover

I have been slowly building a Cuisinart collection. I am extremely pleased with the value and performance of these pans. I have had the 2qt saucepan for over a year now and it sees frequent use. Great to make home made gravy, sauces, soup, leftovers, or to heat some veggies. I use this pan occaisionally for making rice as well.

The pan heats quickly and evenly, the handle stays cool enough to handle, and the non-stick surface holds up well. I stick to wood and nylon utensils as any non stick surface can be damaged by aggressive metal utensils.

If your looking for a non stick sauce pan buy this one. You'll love the performance and the look. Nice see through lid to watch your veggies too. If used on a long simmer with lid, the lid will get a little hot so keep a pot holder nearby to lift it. Cuisinart makes some great cookware.

This unit is very fast at arriving at cooking tempature and seems to hold cooking tempature well. However the induction heating area is quite small and only fits a 8" pan or pot. So it's impossible to cook bacon or even a large steak.

We really liked this cooktop...it saved our bacon when we remodeled the kitchen and made due with this cooktop (which is actually superior to the new gas stove) and an oversized toaster oven. Food gets up to temp quickly and turned itself off when the pot was removed. Once the kitchen was finished, we used the burner during a crab boil outside with great success.

I was a little skeptical after reading all the other reviews but it has exceeded my expectations. I got rid of my stove a couple months ago since I was not using the oven and I have a tiny Manhattan kitchen. I use this for all my cooking and it works great. It boils water faster than my gas stove did. It does seem to have a higher temperature than expected so keep it low for cooking more delicate foods.
