Excellent Grill Pan. Solid cast iron, but not too heavy. Ridges in the pan are sufficiently raised so that you get actual grill marks on the meat (as opposed to the minor bumps on the non-stick grill pans). Easy to clean. Perfect for two people. Makes great burgers, pork chops, grilled shrimp, steaks... Its been used at least twice a week since we bought it.

This is really a great product. Cast Iron, if cared for, is just about the best cookware you can buy.

While my title says "indoor grilling", I guess you really are frying in a pan, on the stove. So sorry if that's misleading. If you use the pan right, however, you'll get great grill marks on your food.

How to use:

Drizzle a good olive oil, or canola, back and forth across the pan. Take a piece of paper towel and rub the oil all over, making sure the ridges and grooves, and sides of the pan are coated.

Heat the pan on the stove over medium to medium high heat. I don't recommend using on Electric because you cannot get the quick temperature changes you need. And certainly not for a glass or induction type range top.

While it's heating, lift the pan and swirl the oil around, keeping the pan bottom coated. When the oil just begins to smoke a little, the pan is ready. Cut the heat down a bit and put in your meat.

If you don't FILL the pan, you can leave an area empty. that area will stay hot, so when you flip your meat around, that part will still be hot enough to leave marks...

I find I can cook 2 strip steaks, or three hamburgers or pork chops in this pan at a time and get great results.

Cleaning:

Could not be easier. After the pan cools, gently scrape any large bits of residue out of the pan with a spatula or fork. Fill half way with water, and return to the stove top. Turn up the heat and boil.

Don't let it boil dry, just boil for about 5 minutes. When that's done, let it cool a bit so you can safely dump the water out. Then, take a sponge one with a 'safe for teflon' scrub pad works (the ones I buy are blue) with a little dish soap, and go over the inside of the pan. Rinse, dry over heat, and put it away.

You don't want to scour the pan. The oils bake INTO the surface of the iron, making a 'non stick' surface of their own.

If you see RUST, scrub the pan with the scrub sponge, then coat with canola oil, rub all over with paper towel you want a coating, not pools of oil and put into an oven. Heat oven to 300 and bake on for an hour or so.

This is a great grill pan!! I love using this pan when I want a steak or chop, when outside grilling is impossible. Since it's already seasoned, it not only gives great grill marks, but great flavor. Another great buy that's worth the price.

This is a nice pan. It's very heavy and the ridges are just right. I wish they also had one a little larger. This one is OK for two or three people since fits three boneless pork loin chops or two good sized strip steaks. You can get eight lamb rib chops (rack) in it, but they're a bit crowded.

So far, I am very pleased with this purchase. The board is beautiful, the wood grain varies and looks just like the picture. It is a little thinner than the ones I'd had before but that is fine fits better in my smallish hands. I also appreciate the hole and loop of leather which allow me to hang it up to dry. Please be advised, one cannot lay these boards down to store, they accumulate mold from being wet. So, hanging them unencumbered is the best way to store them. This one is also a nice size. (All I use mine for is chopping vegetables and fruits).

I have several microwave covers I bought at Walmart and other kitchen places. None is very deep. It seems that most of the time the cover is resting directly on the food being cooked, which is pretty gross. I have been searching for a deeper cover. This cover is advertised as being 3", which is deeper than any of mine. When it arrived today, however, I find that it is actually only 2.5" deep on the outside. The finger depressions make its effective depth much less than that. Plus the finger holes are so slippery that they are almost useless for picking up the cover. Otherwise, it appears to be a fairly sturdy and well made cover. The useless finger holes and dishonest advertising are deal breakers, though.

PS: I see that this seller has changed the description of the item. It still is not accurate. The depth is actually 2.5" and if you include the finger depressions which intrude significantly on the interior, it is only 2" deep. Completely unsatisfactory for my purposes and most other users, I would think. My experience with this seller continued to be most unsatisfactory. He never admitted that his item description was misleading (although he now seems to admit it by changing it), and when I attempted to get satisfaction by having my return shipping paid, he denied responsibility and became abusive. I'd shop elsewhere.

Well here we go again...Made in China where you'd think they have Microwaves. Notice the two finger holds to "pinch" your fingers to remove it after cooking. They're ROUND! You can not lift them with these round holes, they slip right out. So you must hold the sides where it vents and is HOT! Don't WASTE YOUR MONEY! JUNK!

I'm an outdoor grill cook -big time. I got the Calphalon Grill Pan as a birthday present, and I must admit I wasn't too enthused. Why would you want to pretend to grill indoors, right?

Well, a nice steak and a rainy day gave me the opportunity to try my pan. I cooked the steak over medium heat on an electric range, and the results were fantastic. I ate the tenderest steak I've ever cooked on a stovetop, rivaling the tenderness I get from the grill. Sure, you can't mimic the flavor of cooking on an outdoor grill, but the look (grill marks) and tenderness were identical. I got a slightly sauteed taste because I had a trace of butter and oil in the pan -enough to make a thin layer coating the bottom. The taste was definitely different from an outdoor grill, but regardless the meat tasted excellent. I seasoned it just like I would for the grill before cooking.

Being a natural skeptic, but enthused by the results with the steak, I decided to try the pan again cooking boneless chicken breasts. Same results! Super tender, juicy, and great looking meat came out of the pan. I'm sold. This is the pan for me when cooking grill meat indoors.

The secret to nonstick is to let the pan heat up fully over medium heat (no higher) before putting the meat in the pan. Putting a little butter and oil in the pan, and waiting until the butter turns golden brown lets you know when the pan is ready to use. Soaking the pan in warm water immediately after cooking makes for easy cleanup. Enjoy!

I purchased this Calphalon Unison Nonstick 12 Inch Round Grill Pan along with the Calphalon Unison Nonstick 12 Inch Round Griddle Pan and love it! The "nonstick sear" surface used on this grill pan does just what it says, giving just enough grip to hold meat in place while still releasing easily when flipping the meat or removing it from the pan.

I will confess that I have not used this pan anywhere near as much as the griddle, but that is simply because we do not grill a lot of meats on the stove. I have done several steaks, however, and they came out juicy and delicious. I'm usually a picky eater and never eat the fat on a steak, but this pan cooked a ribeye so well that I ate the whole thing! The grill surface kept the meat from frying on the bottom, but it still retained plenty of moisture and all the flavor. (These steaks were not marinated, just seasoned with salt and pepper.)

The main points for this pan are:

* Nonstick (just enough grab for cooking meat, but nothing gets stuck to the pan)

* Oven-safe (have not tried this pan in the oven, only the griddle)

* Easy to clean (wipe with a paper towel first to get the grease)

* Handle stays cool while cooking (except in the oven)

* Large size can cook more food at once

While I have not tried cooking anything but steaks with this pan, it is by far the best grill pan I've tried. It probably won't see quite as much use as the griddle pan, but I don't see myself cooking a steak any other way from now on. Highly recommended.

Note: As with any nonstick cookware, avoid using metal cookware. I bought a set of silicone-coated tongs for flipping steaks and they work great.

I have tried numerous grill pans from brands like Cuisinart and Emerilware (and some other crap brand i can't think of). All of these were lacking for one of the following reasons: bad size, not dish washersafe, general crappiness. This grill pan suffers none of these issues. Dishwasher safe being of particular importance. Everyone knows philyodaddy doesn't do handwashing. Hand washing is about as much fun as scrubbing toilets and drinking Genessee Cream Ale.

In summation, I'd say its the finest piece of cookware I have purchased to date. At the low, low price of $39.99 (I see now it is $49.99 and still great value!), I should have bought two of these bad boys. It may surprise some of my review readers, but I am a wizard with meat and this brings my kitchen game up to the next level. I cooked the crap out of some nice lamb chops yesterday. If I had any friends, they would have loved them.

I have had Calphalon cookware for 20 years. It has never disappointed and this line is no different. I bought this pan to do Bison steaks and burgers and it is fabulous. Last night I had done a few onions in the pan first and then the burgers so it was pretty well carmelized down in the grooves and really a mess. I thought there was no way this was coming clean in the dishwasher. Well it did!! Pristinely clean like new. My old Calphalon grill pan without the nonstick surface is going to Goodwill today.

Furthermore, if you don't know it Calphalon is one of the rare companies left in America that actually stands by their guarantees. I have had several pans replaced over the years because of the kind of stove I have. When they say "lifetime guarantee", they mean it!

I purchased this pan because I love to grill but I'm not always in the mood to fire up the Weber outdoors. Having used it now for a couple of months, I have to say that I absolutely love this thing. I've grilled chicken cutlets, chops, burgers, bacon, and steak and everything turned out great. The pan is large, made of solid construction, heats uniformly, and is easy to clean. The design allows the meat to cook above the grease and the grill lines on the cooked meat are impressive. With chicken and chops, I use a light coat of olive oil and have had no difficulty with clean-up with a sponge and some dishwashing liquid. Just follow the instructions, bring it to heat gradually and let it cool completely before putting it in water so it won't warp. The pan looks as good as the day I took it out of the box. I'm now a big fan of Calphalon Unison and also purchased the Unison nonstick saute pan. A great value for the price in my opinion.

This is by far the best cookware available. My advice, READ the manual before using if you are not familiar with the way cast iron cooks. I made the mistake of turning my burners to high heat when they function on low to medium! You will burn your food and ruin your pan if you use the high heat! Other than that (which is entirely my fault for not reading) this is so nice to have in my collection. This set is perfect to round off a cookware set.

I bought the Dune set on a lightning deal. The 5.5 qt oven had a pitting problem. Two deep pits on the bottom interior surface and many minor pits on the outside. It would be a second in the Le Creuset outlet. I contacted Amazon and they were great and sent out a replacement set, not only the oven. The second set had one pit mark on the interior side of the 5.5 qt so I keept it and sent the rest of the second set back with the first pitted 5.5 qt oven. It was a pain since the box weighs 40 pounds. Amazon did well by me but Le Creuset needs better quality control.

P.S. I lost out on the bonus since I had to order lightning fast to get the deal, so be prepared if you are tracking this set for a deal.

Had this saved in my cart for about a year, and it finally hit a price point that was too good to pass up. A great complement to the 5-piece set I had purchased last year. I have not seen any pitting. Each piece will get a workout in my kitchen. A great set for those who are looking to upgrade their cookware. Satin Dune might not be the most exciting color, but it will blend in with most "standard" kitchen decor. My mother taught me how to crack an egg and go back and forth between the 2 shell halves to separate the yolks. What a mess! Next, I saw a video online to use an old plastic bottle to separate the egg yolk. It worked! However now, the plastic bottles are being made with thinner plastic due to the environment so that does not work anymore! Desperate for an answer, as I am baking all the time, I found the Quirky Pluck Yolk Extractor! It not only works but is much easier to clean than an old water bottle (if I can find one with thick plastic)! Problem solved, the product is amazing and you need to purchase this!

Our healthy minded family only eat egg whites. This little gadget has made removing the yolk second nature. In a small bowl, I crack open all the eggs a family member is going to eat, for example, the hubby eats four egg whites, and I take the "pluck" I place it over the yolk, one by one and gingerly squeeze it to picks up the yolk, I tip it on it's side to let the whites fall back into the bowl and wala I end up having pure egg whites. The first time I used it I broke the joke as I squeezed too hard. But you get the hand of it right away. I use it every day and I find its worth the $ and the effort. If eating egg whites is your thing, this is a must!

I've tried a few recipes from this book and they are well written and turn out as desired. I wanted more one pan meals and there is a section in the back for "meals in a fry pan." Includes appetizers, dressings and the usual meats and vegetables. There are plenty of helps in the front and back about steaming, stir frying and fat-free cooking. I was surprised that there are some recipes for baking bread right in the skillet.

Some recipes require the use of the skillet, empty and wash, then continue to use it. I found this to be too much trouble for me anyway. I cook some of my ingredients on the stove and then place in the skillet. But I suppose the author was trying to use the skillet exclusively for a complete meal.

Overall, it's a nice cookbook specifically for the electric skillet.

I'm not normally one to review my amazon purchases but felt compelled to review this item. I purchased the Nambe Bulbo Kettle to compliment my modern kitchen but it did not even make it to my stovetop. Upon opening the box I was sadly disappointed with the wood handle which had a bright orange finish and looked nothing like the one pictured. I thought I was buying beautiful design piece but what I received looked like something you would find in a third world bazaar next to incense burners and candle stick holders. Needless to say, I sent it back to the amazon seller "trade concepts" which cost me $23.95 for return shipping (insured with signature confirmation as instructed). If you are considering purchasing because it looks nice in the picture, you may want to think twice.

When I went in search of a kettle I didn't want a typical kettle with fugly spout mechanisms poorly intergrated into the handle. All the other ones on the market, aside from maybe the oxo, was just not attractive. I was looking for a sculptural, eye catching kettle that could sit on my stove as a sculptural art piece. There's never a time when I don't get a compliment on the kettle when I have guests. It's great cause we almoat always hang out in our open kitchen and the first thing people notice is the kettle. Functionally, there are minor kinks but definitely not worth returning. One of my favorite kitchen items I've bought this year. Great job Nambe. You guys rock!

This is a good sized bowl for a good price which has already been used quite a few times in our kitchen. The only thing to say is that I was surprised that it was so large.

The product details lists the dimensions as "5.1 x 11.5 x 5.1 inches". It's not clear which dimensions on the bowl each of these measurements refers to.

My bowl has a 11.75 inch diameter at the top, about a 6.5 inch diameter at the bottom and is 5.1 inches deep. Hope that helps you get a clearer idea of the size.

I have a 6 quart bowl I use during the holidays and decided I needed a larger bowl for mixing. I ordered the Fox Run 8 Quart bowl expecting the to be a good size. I received the first one and it was exactly the size of my 6 quart bowl. I even poured water in to verify exactly 6 quarts. Sent it back thinking I was sent the wrong size bowl. Just received the replacement. Same 6 quart bowl. I don't care how you measure it, the bowl is 6 quarts. Guess this is like the 6.5 oz can of tuna that is now 5.5 oz. Everything has been down sized. Maybe Fox Run should advertise it as 6 quarts rather the misleading them.

First off this bowl is not 8 quarts. I just got the bowl and the first thing I noticed was how small it was because I was expecting a 2 gallon bowl. I measured out liquid as I poured it into the bowl and it holds 1 gallon and a little over 4 cups (when full to the brim). I am returning it today. Other than that it is a very fine bowl and I would have loved to have kept it. It was a good weight and the quality was great for the price.

This is a shallow bowl & I needed an 8 quart tall bowl for my purposes. It was not as heavy duty as the ones I already have. I don't want to drop a bowl & have them dent. It was returned.

This is a high-quality mixing bowl that works very well for making large batches of salads, which is why I bought it. The 8-quart measurement refers to the capacity of the bowl when it is full right up to the rim, though, so buy a larger size if you'd like to make 8 quarts of something and still be able to stir it.

Ok,so i was unsure about this filter. i purchased it exclusively to remove solids after frying french fries. i was unsure what to expect, did not even buy the filter stand (unitasker).

I had an large empty tin can of pineapple juice, cut a 1" hole on the bottom with a bi-metal hole saw, put the filter in it, poured the oil in the can and it worked like a charm.

i had another person hold the can over the vessel which would house the used oil, but it was super quick, clean, efficient. the filter is great and it captured everything from the canola oil. oh, the oil was room temperature, as well..

will buy again when i run out.
