I bought 2 more one for our mountain cabin, one for my daughter, who loves mine. Beautiful to look at and cooks beautifully as well.

This pan astonishes me. My wife and I are not professional cooks, but good home cooks, to whom food means a lot.

La Chamba is amazing. We roast fruits in the oven, bake/roast meat. We use it on the stove top. It cleans easily, comes with its own special wood scraper. There is no fault in it I can find. I am recommending it to all my friends.

Bought this item for my mother. She called and told me that I have to buy one for myself that it is the best cooking device in her kitchen (and she owns every gadget you can imagine). She says it cooks to perfection. She was impressed with the real cookbook included, not a phamplet like you usually get with crockpots and such. She loves it! (I'm talking about a person who is very hard to please and has been cooking for a family of 7 for 50 years). So it must be good.

If you or someone you know are the type that likes to cook at home and are savvy enough to figure out how to research and apply to the kitchen, then this is an ESSENTIAL piece you must have. I am formerly a chef from my younger years but, I haven't lost my passion for home cooked meals that are much much better than going out and cheaper. Anything they do, we can do at home if you only knew how. This cooker WILL get you a few steps closer to 5 star meals. If you don't know your way around the kitchen and want to, this will fool your guests and family to think that you already do. You do not need to be a chef to use this....

We make a point to eat as a family at least once every week so, I gave this as a gift to my mother for her birthday. We have had BBQ'd chicken, my favorite pot roast, & chicken noodle soup. The recipe for bbq'd chicken was in the book that came with it but, we altered it to our liking, mainly using the cooking times listed in book to improvise for the quantity of meat we used. WE HAVE NOT MADE A LESS THAN STELLAR MEAL YET!! No exaggeration. No left-overs is all the proof I need. We were getting tired of the same meals over and over again, and now our capabilities and options have been stretched to new hieghts. We are only limited by our enthusiasm and imagination. Tender and really delicious meat and vegetables at incredible speed. There are thousands of RECIPES online for free I can't wait to try.

If you use some logic and do a little homework on what pressure cooking does to different ingredients there is no reason you will not love this. The timer and settings are not hard to use but, I recommend that you read the book if you've never used one. When you use the browning setting for your foods 1st, I HIGHLY recommend a grease catching screen that you cover open frying pans with. They are flat circles with a handle to keep grease from popping everywhere and burning yourself. It browns really well and stirring the food with the grease popping is tricky and painful. (High temp browning in any pan spits hot grease, not just Emeril's.) Which makes me think that You can just brown the food in another pan and then dump into the cooker might be easier for some to do. Or get long wooden untensils and you'll be fine. After you set it, it doesn't start the timer until it's up to temp and it spurts a little steam out of the valve after the first 3-5 minutes. After it reaches proper temp and pressure you will know the timer should be starting. Trust it and Do not worry when it doesn't start counting down immediately. Lets it do it's thing until the timer goes off. When you release the pressure give it some room to geyser out a few feet above. We do it under the hood in the kitchen. The steam is only hot right at the opening and doesn't burn. Your wood cabinets will get a steaming if too close and that isn't good for them.

Great for serving 4-6 people that can eat their share. It's incredibly easy to clean. It feels study and the design is quality made. I will always have a pressure cooker in my home after this. I cannot believe I didn't get to use one sooner. I'm sure there are nice ones out there but, Emeril and TFal did it right on this one.

WE ALL LOVE THIS ADDITION TO THE FAMILY. End of story...

+++++++++++++++++++Tip to those who can't get it to run+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Cut the solid pieces of food a little smaller. Potatoes and carrots that are large and dense block the internal liquid from rotating around the food creating burn spots where temperatures are trapped under food. It shuts off without running the timmer as a safety feature. If it ran cycle with warning you it would be really burnt 20 min later. READ THE BOOK. THERE ARE LIMITATIONS TO THE CAPACITY OF ANY POT/PAN/COOKER. THIS ISN'T BIG ENOUGH TO FEED AN ARMY. If this isn't a helpful review, you are special in many ways.

Everything I have made to date has turned out delicious!! I love my new pressure cooker and can't believe it makes absolutely no sound while cooking!! So easy to clean compared to my stove top cooker. Roast a whole chicken in 25 minutes to perfection...a pot 3/4 full of chicken thighs in 8 minutes...and perfect spare ribs too!! First of all, I continue to be favorably impressed with Amazon and its customer service policies, and fully intend to continue as an Amazon customer.

The Emeril Electric Pressure Cooker was the one item of its kind that had no negative feedback. So I went with it.

I found that it had many of the same negative features that other reviewers had posted about other similar items. Totally frustrating. Could not get it to work properly. Most of the time it would just shut down without coming up to pressure. Tried taking some contents out, adding more liquidstill no luck. It would come up to pressure, and then turn off without going the full cycle. Tried it 8 times, to no avail. Read the manual over and over. Tried all the suggestions. No help. Tried rotating the inner lid as it suggested, and burned my hand on the lid. Very badly designed product. Bad QC. How could Emeril put his name on this?

What food did come out was burned and overcooked, even though it never ran out the timer!

The unit sputtered and hissed and leaked. Too bad. I had owned another pressure cooker (that company no longer makes them) and it did a great job till it wore out.

I hope that someday, someone will make a reliable pressure cooker. They're great when they work. If you find one, please let me know.

Reviews of simplehuman Slim Dishrack, Stainless Steel

simplehuman Slim Dishrack, Stainless Steel
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Overall we loved this dishrack at first... very sleek, and didn't find the problems mentioned in other reviews (size of rack vs. plastic sheet that catches the water and directs it to your sink). But after about 10 months we ran into what we consider the BIG problem with this rack: the drainage "gutter" underneath, which directs it to the stainless steel lip that directs the flow of water into the sink is IMPOSSIBLE to clean adequately. YOu can removed the stainless steel piece to clean it, but the gutter-type think itself is hidden under the plastic grooves. Gunk and mold have built up, forcing us to buy a new one after less than a year!! I even tried using an old toothbrush to carefully clean it out, but after a while the build up is disgusting. Very disappointing and an incredibly stupid design choice. When considering a new one, we like some of the newer designs by simplehuman, but they all seem to have a similar drainage system, which will lead me to buy something else.

Funny that I am SO excited to write a review on a dish drain, but this is really a fantastic design. I hand wash my pots & pans, so the flat bottom base works terrific for me. It has full length ridges to hold cookie sheets or trays, plus deeper cut-outs for your plates. Now, with that said, it was almost an instant fail as initially it did not drain properly as my high sink-lip made the water collect back into the middle of the rack. A simple solution has it draining beautifully and working like a charm! I used the packing "twist-ties" that came with it and tied them in the two outer corners. I laid back the plastic bottom/base and it now had a great slope and it was actually FUN to first see the water flowing so quickly and neatly into my main sink! Do note: this fix did however effect the fit of the utensil tray on the "higher" raised side, but my preference was to keep the interior empty for the pots & pans, so I put it on the outside (sink side) and to my delight, it naturally sat with a perfect slant so the water of the utensil rack drained right into the sink too! I did secure it with a separate twist-tie as it would have been a bit unstable otherwise. I did not use the knife slot although it was a nice idea (just my preference). It is easily removable if you too didn't want it. I cannot imagine a better design for a dish rack...unless of course they factored into the design "adjustable sloping" to accommodate various sink types.

Click/enlarge on the above photos to bring up all of them! (I posted many)

AND SIDENOTE: To the poster that wrote about "scum" build up.... you may not have enough slope with your unit. If you try my modifications, you should not encounter such problems.

Best Deals for simplehuman Slim Dishrack, Stainless Steel

Overall, this is a solid, if pricey, dish rack. We've had this rack for almost 2 years now and there are no signs of rust anywhere. It has held up well, with the exception of the drainage spout (more on that later). I like the knife holder and the dish rack is solidly built (mostly) and is plenty big for holding a good load of dishes.

However, I echo the comment about the drainage "canal" which is a mold/mildew breeding ground since it tends to take a very long time to dry. We need to do a major cleaning every few months, but because the slats and the bottom tray are glued together, you can't really get into the "canal" to clean it properly. This is clearly a design flaw and the bottom tray and slats should be separable to allow for proper cleaning.

My biggest complaint is that after a few months the plastic bracket that holds the metal spout in place started to loosen to the point where the metal spout would fall out. Eventually one side of the plastic bracket broke completely. Now the metal spout just sits on the counter underneath the rack to catch as much of the dripping water as possible and redirect it into the sink. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Why the spout is made of a heavier and stronger material than the bracket that holds it in place is beside me? It seems almost guaranteed to break over time.

Honest reviews on simplehuman Slim Dishrack, Stainless Steel

This is a fantastic small dishrack EXCEPT that it has poor drainage. Scum tends to build up in the drainage canal/spout. Because the pieces are connected, it is very difficult to clean. The only method I've found is to use a butter knife and paper towel to wipe the scum out of the drainage canal. It works sort of...

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for simplehuman Slim Dishrack, Stainless Steel

The design is wonderful. The water really does flow through a channel directly into the sink, eliminating the standing water that gets moldy and discolored in the bottom of the rubber drainers. It's bigger than I expected which is great since I don't have a dishwasher.

One picky thing because the bottom of the drainer is solid, which is what directs the water into the channel, there isn't the airflow that's present in the wire ones and the dishes need a little swipe with a dish towel where they touch the bottom.

However, I wouldn't go back to the wire type for anything I love this drainer because of the way it drains directly into the sink, even a sink with a lip. It's also great looking and very sturdy.

I've had this pan for several months now and had previously been used to frying with regular cast iron or stainless steel. I have a flat top stove and am not supposed to use my cast iron on it so I thought I would try this one instead. I've found that the interior is better than stainless steel for cooking certain things (like over-easy eggs) with a simple clean-up and minimal sticking. It's also good for reheating left-over meals, or making pancakes.

However, when I tried cooking things like sausage, or stir-fry meat, or with any sauces that contained sugar, I ended up with charred bits that would not come off. I tried boiling the pan with vinegar, or scouring gently with baking soda and nothing works. I did of course follow the directions and have never cooked on any setting above medium (usually, I use medium low). Then I made the mistake of frying falafel in the pan. I now have a permanent layer of caramelized oil on the bottom of my pan. Add the two chips on the handle that came off within the first week of use (and I am extremely gentle with this pan), and I would have to say I am fairly disappointed.

I also own the Lodge Enamel 6 quart dutch oven, and that item is fabulous. Not a chip or stain on it, even though I use it extensively. Also, I have fried up some of the same things in the dutch oven as the fry pan with no sticking/stains in the dutch oven, but with permanently charred bits in the fry pan. Lodge should have made this one with the glossy interior.

Perhaps I'll replace this one with the 3 quart covered casserole since it has the glossy interior.

Browns nicely, very nonstick, easy cleanup. I was surprised that the inside was a matte enamel finish that is not smooth like the the inside of the dutch oven . It works just great though. The other good news is that the lid from the 6 quart dutch oven fits it perfectly. Lodge Enamel on Cast Iron 6 Quart Dutch Oven, Caribbean Blue

Now one down side is that this thing is heavy as hell. Without the helper handle it would be very awkward to lift unless you are built like Arnold Schwarzenegger (at least how he used to be built). This isn't for your grandmother (unless she is a weightlifter).

An update. We have had absolutely no sticking problems. We cooked a salmon dish last night with a sauce that had some sugar in it. No problems (and absolutely delicious BTW) . A chicken dish with ricotta, the other day, worked great. I use a little higher heat, up to medium high, then slow it down to medium when browning. Let the food release before flipping.

No soaking, no scrubbing, just the plastic thing (on the other side of the kitchen sponges, can't think of the name), hot water, dish soap and almost no elbow grease.

I'd say it is a bargain. We have mostly Calphalon in our kitchen but are using this extensively. It looks good too.

Best Deals for Lodge Color Enameled Cast Iron Skillet, 11-Inch

Pretty good pan. A lot easier to maintain and keep clean than a traditional cast iron pan. The "white enamel" style fry pans are more non-stick than this with liquid items like eggs. The "satin enamel" finish in this one, which is a rough cast iron type finish with a dark gray enamel coating, tends to stick less on solid items like steak and bacon.

So you may use a little more fat in this pan than in one of the ones using a smooth bottom white enamel style, which all of the other Lodge pans use.

This type of finish is also going to be a lot harder to scratch or scrape with tools, and wont show a scratch as much.

If you're going to cook cornbread and scrambled eggs 95% of the time...I might consider one of the white smooth enamel bottom. If you're going to sear a lot of meats and dont mind using a bit of fat with your cornbread or eggs, this will work great and you cant beat the price.

Honest reviews on Lodge Color Enameled Cast Iron Skillet, 11-Inch

This handy little skillet is actually a HEAVY WEIGHT! It has the durability of cast iron, and the convenience of non-stick coating. I hesitated when ordering because I have had teflon skillets that would flake after a while, but this is not like the non-stick of old. It has a 25-year limited warantee!

Since I have an electric stove, it took some time to learn how to adust the stove because it retains the heat so well. I finally started turning the stove off the last 10 minutes or so. That works great for me. Also, if I'm cooking a steak, I sear it good on one side, turn it, and finish cooking in the oven at 450* for another 10 minutes. That's another thing I like...the fact that the skillet can go right from the stovetop to the oven. Careful, because the handle does get very hot, and also the skillet is HEAVY because it's cast iron, but it's a good heavy!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Lodge Color Enameled Cast Iron Skillet, 11-Inch

After using this skillet I can state that it has all the features of the French Le Creuset line at a quarter the price. No need to say more than that.

If you like using cast iron cookware you will be well served with this line of Lodge Enamel which however, unlike the original made in USA products, are now made in China. Though I prefer to buy American, I am so satisfied that I went ahead and ordered the Lodge Enamel 10 inch Grill Pan as well. These products have an enamel coating on both the outside and the inside surfaces and, unlike the original Lodge products, require no seasoning.

Cast iron cookware works extremely well on induction plates as the temperature can be adjusted in very fine increments and the entire pan heats evenly through magnetic induction without any hot spots. The combination of cast iron and induction yields great results.

Four stars instead of five as the inside enameling should be applied in a thicker coat to better hide the casting grain.

This is a perfect crock for my small kitchen. It holds a substantial volume and my small hand very easily fits, although I use a chinese soup spoon. I have no separate shelf over my stove, so it endures the heat of the stove itself. It is so much better than just a cardboard store container, where the salt just gloms into one big chrystal and won't pour.

Item arrived as expected. Easy to move around cooking space with top handle and holds a good amount of salt. It was a bit larger than expected, but after using it, the size is perfect for comfortably reaching in for salt with your hand, which is the fun of a salt crock anyway!

The pans are wonderful. Heavy and even in cooking. The lids are horrendous. They have rust forming on the stainless steel and there is water sloshing around in the area between the glass and the stainless ring. Only had them for a couple of months. Contacted Chantal and they said they had never heard of this before. Although I have read other reviews that say the same thing. Now I am supposed to send all the lids back and they will supposedly send me new ones. Meanwhile..... The offer to replace them came after my third contact. Not worth the $$ or the hassle.

My mother taught me how to crack an egg and go back and forth between the 2 shell halves to separate the yolks. What a mess! Next, I saw a video online to use an old plastic bottle to separate the egg yolk. It worked! However now, the plastic bottles are being made with thinner plastic due to the environment so that does not work anymore! Desperate for an answer, as I am baking all the time, I found the Quirky Pluck Yolk Extractor! It not only works but is much easier to clean than an old water bottle (if I can find one with thick plastic)! Problem solved, the product is amazing and you need to purchase this!

Our healthy minded family only eat egg whites. This little gadget has made removing the yolk second nature. In a small bowl, I crack open all the eggs a family member is going to eat, for example, the hubby eats four egg whites, and I take the "pluck" I place it over the yolk, one by one and gingerly squeeze it to picks up the yolk, I tip it on it's side to let the whites fall back into the bowl and wala I end up having pure egg whites. The first time I used it I broke the joke as I squeezed too hard. But you get the hand of it right away. I use it every day and I find its worth the $ and the effort. If eating egg whites is your thing, this is a must!

I also bought 3 other pots/pans. I'm happy to report that in 60 years of my own food prep, these are **by far** the best cookware units I've ever had. Pricey, but well worth it! I also want to comment on difficulty others have posted about removing the handles: I had trouble too when I tried to pull them straight out. What you need to do is as follows: with the handle pointing toward you, 1) slide the red latch toward you and then 2) while holding the latch in this position, simply lift the handle up: if this works like it did on mine, the handles will come very off easily; otherwise you can be very frustrated. Enjoy!

When I just bought the pan, I loved it. I didn't need to add any oil when cooking, and nothing would stick. It was especially great to cook eggs and fish. Now it's been 10 months, and the pan start to stick. I didn't expect the non stick property to deteriorate that fast. I followed the manufacturer's instructions. Never used dish washer to clean or metal spatula while cooking. For an expensive pan like this, I expect the non stickiness work much longer.

I ordered this product because I make large cakes and thought bigger strips would be extremely helpful. I had actually bought a set of bake strips once that were attached by velcro and LOVED THEM! When searching for these I used the keywords VELCRO EVEN BAKE STRIPS. It pulled up the large strips as an option. The description was a little confusing and I was very disappointed when I received my large bake stips and they had to be pinned together. The strips work fine but the pinning is very cumbersome and time consuming. I did see a suggestion on another post that said to used large safety pins instead of the straight pins. I'm in a process of ridding my kitchen of all Teflon pans. I wanted a large cast iron pan in my collection but my glass cooktop would not permitt... until I found lines of enamel coated cast iron pots and pans. However, most the prices were out of my budget range. That's when I ran into this great deal. I have been using this pan for over a month and I love it! Every household should have at least on cast iron pan. This is why; they are great for searing meats: steaks, burgers, tuna steaks and the like. Bacon in the morning: Somehow bacon cooks up well in this pan, probably because of the even heat distribution and retention. Anyways, this is a good sear pan. My only criticism is the inside surface is gritty, so it is not good for cooking eggs or pancakes. These items tend to break-up when you try to flip them. This is not a good general purpose pan, consider it a specialty pan. But what it does it does well!

I got this at a local shop specializing in close outs for $25. This was an absolute steal, probably the buy I have had all year. This is a very heavy enameled cast iron pan in a pretty red. The pan is a very thick cast iron with a thick handle. It easily weights more than similar LC, Staub, Lodge pans. It has a much needed helper handle. The inside is a black enamel that easily washes up and you don't have to worry about re-seasoning it. (you do have to season the rim, which is no big deal). I cannot speak for longevity yet, but this one cooks wonderfully, nice and even. I bought one and was so impressed I went back and bought the next size up. Get one while you can!

I have never had so much difficulty cleaning a pan after cooking scrambled eggs! Food clings to this pan with impressive tenacity.

The interior of this pan is very rough and the material is not smooth at all. This is in no way a non-stick pan, in spite of the porcelain enamel coating.

After spending more time cleaning the pan than cooking scrambled eggs and eating them, I will in the future use this pan only for cooking food that is very unlikely to stick.

I bought a Bialetti Aeternum pan at the same time, and I'm very happy with the Bialetti.

Maybe my pan is defective, and not actually enameled? I have a Tramontina dutch overn that has a white enamel interior, and it works great. This Tramontina saute pan has a black interior, so maybe the factory forgot to enamel this pan....

This is advertised as a tri-ply pot -but what I just received was an ordinary steel pot with an aluminum disk brazed to the bottom. In fact, the pot I was sent looks nothing like the one pictured: the shape is different, the lip is different, the pot is different.

$99 is not a bad price for a tri-ply stock pot, but one can buy a disk-bottom pot of similar quality just about anywhere for half this price. I'd have to say this was a complete rip-off.

As of this date, I do not believe the 12-qt stock pot shown on the Amazon site is the same as the 12-qt on the Calphalon site. In fact, I do not think that the Amazon image is the 12-qt pot. It looks like the 8-qt. All of my other cookware in the Contemporary line are "completely" clad. That is, they have an entirely smooth exterior surface and the sides are thick. The 12-qt as shown on the Calphalon site--and the one I received, is clad ONLY on the bottom--like other less expensive pots. The sides are relatively thin--like less expensive pots. At first I thought I received the wrong pot. Only after looking at the Calphalon site did I notice the difference. Having said this, I am not sure it is a huge issue because the bottom is where you need the heat for a large stock pot. Aside from the issues I mentioned, the pot is an beautiful as the others in the Contemporary line and the lid has a wonderfully snug fit. Under decent heat, the pot brings and hold water at a roiling boil which is perfect for cooking pasta.

I thought I was getting my wife nice pot for a present she wanted. First time use food burned and stuck to the bottom. The bottom inside and out stained as well as the inside walls. I can't get the stains and some of the food burn marks off. My $20 pot from Wal-mart does better than this. Not Happy at all! Contacted Calphalon and they are sorry but they don't make this pot anymore. They did not offer and exchange or an upgrade. Nor did they do anything about the narrative describing the pot. Be carefull and check to see if the item you are buying is still a good item with the manufacturer before you buy! I guess I'm stuck with a 99.00 flower pot.

Honest reviews on Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 12 Qt. Stock Pot

Warning! The description from Amazon is utterly misleading! This Contemporary line DOES NOT contain aluminum on the side walls, only on the botton. If you want aluminum on the side walls, go for the Tri-ply line. The use of the term "Aluminum Core" or "Full Aluminum Core" is very misleading. Also, use caution with the label "Tri-ply" since that could mean only on the bottom; aluminum sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel...(Fine Print: "but only on the bottom.")

Beware of misleading advertising. The box for this product has a label on the bottom that says "Aluminum bottom," but you won't know that until you order and receive the product.

There is also a large difference in the quality of stainless steel metal used between Calphalon's Contemporary and Tri-ply lines; Tri-ply is higher quality metal. I advise getting assurance it's 18/10 stainless steel, at least on the food surface. Calphalon "does not" use 18/10 in all of their products for cooking surface. Key point: 18/10 is not magnetic, so it won't work on induction stoves; you want 18/0 exterior layer for induction stoves, but still should have 18/10 for interior surface.

This is my first purchase of a Calphalon encapsulated bottom pan. I own other Calphalon pans that are 3 ply stainless steel. I recently cooked pea soup in this stockpot on low heat for two hours and when I stirred the bottom the pea soup was scorched. If you are looking for a heavy duty stockpot this is not one I would recommend. Pay the extra money and get All-Clad.

This is a great dutch oven. Well made and great cooking features. It competes well with those costing twice as much! Only thing I would improve on is the plastic top. Even at less than 350 degrees it warps and looks shriveled.

This casserole dish/Dutch oven is extremely heavy, cast iron, in a deep cherry red color. The first one arrived smashed, but Amazon sent me a replacement quickly, which was in perfect condition. You can only use the lid of this dish under 325 degs; my one bubbled up & the plastic started to melt at 350 degs. You can serve around 4 people with this dish.

We use this pot often. It holds up well, the only issue we have with it is that the top handle doesn't wear well when put in the oven.

Overall, good value!

Honest reviews on Range Kleen 5-Quart Red Round Dutch Oven

The paint and finish is already chipping away under both handles, and I have not owned this for long. So far, the finish on the interior cooking surface seems okay, although even that has hairline marks that I can see but they don't feel like anything yet.

I purchased this because the price was great but when I received it there was already damage to the lid and the paint was peeling off. I do not believe it effects the usability of the pot and since the price was so good I decided to keep it. Otherwise it is heavy and a nice pot.
