The lid was the quality expected from Berndes and it fits other 9.5 inch items that I have. I was hoping it would fit the crepe pan; however, it is slightly to big to fit properly. S&H was high and out of line with similar size and weight items I have purchased. I will try to limit my purchases to items sold by Amazon to make use of Amazon Prime (best deal since sliced bread)

Update! It appears Amazon or the vendor has updated the product listing to demonstrate that this is a spoon rest rather than a full sized skillet.

The description of this product is misleading...it is NOT a skillet but instead, might be useful as a spoon rest...assuming your are not using a very large cooking spoon. It's small...very small. It would make a cute wall decoration but forget using it as a skillet of any type. Frankly, given the size, it's not even that appropriate as a spoon rest since the shape omits use of larger spoons due to the upper curvature. Cute idea...if it were MUCH MUCH larger. Don't be mislead by the description. I've contacted Amazon Customer Service to see if it can be updated as this makes a fairly expensive and somewhat inadequate spoon rest and a completely dismal "skillet".

I bought this as a gift knowing it would be the size of a spoon rest. If you understand that up front, you'll be happy. Same Lodge quality you expect, just not a particularly functional size. Judging from the large number of reviewers who were disappointed with the size, maybe Lodge should start manufacturing a pan for all of us who'd love guitar shaped cornbread.

I love that Lodge Logic got creative & made a decorative skillet.

The reasons for the negative reviews are quite humorous. I'm not sure why anyone with any sense would order a miniature guitar shaped skillet and then be upset that they can't really cook in it. It is MINIATURE & shaped like a GUITAR. Clearly, it is meant to be cute, fun, and decorative. I love it & am so glad I stumbled on it while looking to buy another Lodge Logic skillet (to cook in. so not mini).

I've been looking for a really good set of pans literally for years. I tried a number of brands and styles and ultimately was dissatisfied in some way even the expensive ones had something I didn't like. Then when I was checking out a recipe on a cooks site, I saw that the site was sponsored by Scanpan. So as an experiment (and because my old omelet pan was shot), I decided to buy the 9 1/2" Scanpan fry pan. What a great pan! The heft is perfect, the handle well set and easy to hold, the non-stick is truly non-stick (even water just beads up on it), and it looks good on top of it all. I've already ordered the 12 1/4" fry pan and have made a list. I'll be replacing all my pots and pans with Scanpan professional over the coming months. Below are what I see as the pros and cons:

Pros:

Great non-stick when I make omelets, I don't need any butter at all. Burgers, chicken, steak, etc. don't stick at all.

Cleanup the surface is so non-stick that a simple wipe with a paper towel gets it visibly clean; followed by a little soapy water, and you're done.

Easy to hold it's well balanced, nice heft, and the handle is well shaped, it's very comfortable to work with.

Even heating the pan heats up *very* evenly.

A pan I can put in the oven unlike many non-sticks and many cheaper pans that have plastic handles, you can put all the Scanpan Professional pans in the oven when needed without worry. The pan even came with a little pot holder that slips over the handle for when you use it this way.

The handle doesn't heat up on the stove even though it's metal and riveted to the pan with large metal rivets, the handle stays cool and comfortable to use.

Looks great the stainless handle and the all-black pan just plain looks good.

Cons:

Dishwasher while Scanpan calls these pans "dishwasher safe" it's also "not recommended" that you put them in the washer. I tried it once and got a little of the outside black coating to come off not so it was noticeable, but I got a little bit of black dust on the towel. According to Scanpan, repeated washings will cause spotting and splotching. The good news is that it cleans so easily that it's not a deal killer.

Purchasing simply getting a hold of some of the pieces can be a challenge. I had to wait nearly 4 weeks for the 12 1/4" fry pan to come in as nobody in the country seemed to have it. Additionally, you're local stores probably aren't going to carry Scanpan, so if you're impatient, you're just going to have to learn to live with waiting for your cookware.

Price this is not inexpensive cookware. It's not outrageous lesser brands cost nearly as much but to outfit a kitchen is going to cost you somewhat over $1k by the time you're done (for what I want, I'm just over $1,500, for example). Do what I do and buy a piece a month or so and it's not that painful though.

Lids this is a personal choice, so it may not be a con for you, but I like glass lids not the type Scanpan puts on the classic line, but the type they put on the CTX line. Well, the professional line only has stainless lids. I'd buy CTX lids instead, but the CTX line is *very* limited and they just don't have all the lids I'd need. But, if you like stainless lids, or just don't care, this wouldn't be a con for you.

Rivets this is both a good news/bad news item on one hand, the rivets assure that the handle won't come loose; they hold the pan well and make sure you get a long life out of the pan. The bad is that food can collect on them that needs some vigorous scrubbing to come off. So far, I've not needed to use a toothpick to get the food off the perimeter of the rivets, but it wouldn't surprise me if at some point I make something that does require it.

So, all in all, this pan is the best fry pan I've ever had and all the other brands I've got are going to be getting donated away over the next few months as I completely replace them with Scanpan products.

After reading all of the good reviews I decided to get this pan. If I really liked it I was also going to purchase the chef's set of other pans. When it arrived I was so excited. I had been using a cheap omelet pan that all of the teflon had worn off and I was ready to invest in some good pans. Two things I found out. If you put veggies in your omelet and they touch the pan it will stick, but it cleaned up easily. I had to put a teaspoon of butter in. Second the rivets stick out and food collects around them so I have to take a toothpick to them occasionally. One of the rivets started moving, which I don't believe it is supposed to do. I called Scanpan 3 times so far and keep getting an answering machine. I leave a message but no one calls me back. I will try again today. I am deliberating if I should get the classic in the other pans but I hate the glass lids and this problem with Customer service is leaving me leery of making another purchase with this company.

Update. On the last call I was able to get a hold of customer service. The return was easy and the pan was replaced quickly. We ended up purchasing the 10 piece professional set and have been thrilled with how easy these pans are to cook with. We have not had any additional problems and I have recommended these pans to several of my friends and family. The only thing I would not recommend is buying the pasta insert. Anytime I use it water boils up all over my stove. I have tried to put less water in until there is not enough water to cook the pasta. I am now using it as a strainer in my sink.

With a lot of non-stick pans on the market right now, I wasn't sure how ScanPan would be much different than the rest. After using this almost daily for the last few months, I can say that this pan has far exceeded any expectations I've ever had for a piece of cookware.

The surface is so tough, you can use it worry free with metal utensils, and they even suggest giving your pan a cold water blast right after use to steam clean. No other non-stick pan would ever tell you to do this. Most of the time, a simple wipe with a paper towel is all the cleaning you need.

I'm able to use so much less oil in my cooking, and yet still produce flawless golden brown color on meat and fish. Eggs are a piece of cake, too!

These pans look quite impressive as well, and would be at home in any well appointed kitchen. All of this being said, they throw in a lifetime warranty on top of it. I'm sold!

I have had a set of Scan Pans for many years now, and bought this one because I needed a small egg frying pan that was as great of quality as my Scan Pans. I was delighted! For the first time in 20yrs, I can flip my egg without breaking the yoke! And it is just the perfect size to fry up bacon and eggs for 2!

Also, the handle on this type of pan is what you will want if you have any wrist problems like I do. Spend a little extra for this professional version because it does make a difference.

Just a note about this company, one of the other pans from my set purchased years ago when the product first came up had a few very small dings of some sort on the inside. None of the other pans had this and I was not sure how they got there. Well, after I bought this pan, I decided to contact Scan Pan and ask about my other one. They said to just send it back in to the warranty dept and they would be happy look at it. ( I did not even have a receipt because I had them so long )

Within a short amount of time, I had a new pan of that type (but updated since the other was older model) on my doorstep.

This is a company of their word! And these pans are worth every single penny of the purchase price!!!

My girlfriend has cystic fifrosis and is understandably cautious about her health. She wanted a nonstick pan that didn't use teflon and release the toxin PFOA. I did a pretty extensive search on line for green products and consumer reviews. This pan does not use teflon and tied with two other makes in Consumer Report for the highest non-stick rating. I bought the smallest, least expensive one for a trial run. This pan has been great! We have cooked eggs, onions, even cornbread in this pan and nothing has sticked. We have also used conventional metal utensils with out a mark. This pan has deivered on all it's claims. We couldn't be happier and plan to buy more to add to the set. The only downside is that these are expensive but is worth it since you don't have to treat it delicately.

Tovolo 14-Inch Silicone Solid Spoon Review

Love this spoon! Easy to clean as almost nothing sticks to it and it won't absorb water like a wooden spoon, so it's easier to sanitize and it's dishwasher safe :)

Also, the edge acts like a squeegee which is perfect when you're trying to get that last bit of sauce out of a pan-a nice feature previously unknown to me :)

I should note that the handle is, in fact, conductive of heat and can get uncomfortably warm if left in the wrong area on the stove. Given that the handle *is* metal, this should be a no-brainer. That said, I should clarify that heat does not transfer at all through the silicone end of the spoon.

I plan on replacing all my spoons with these :)

I finally found a great spoon to use with non-stick cookware. It works like the old wooden spoons did --but a lot easier to clean & you can put it in the dishwasher. It stirs heavy stiff foods just as easily as light fluffy things. It doesn't bend like a lot of plastic spoons. It's heat proof so I don't have to worry about it melting. I have thrown out all my other "plastic" spoons. They were worthless. Give this one a try -you won't be sorry.

So my title and rating don't seem to quite mesh. But in my mind they do.

You can't knock a product because it wasn't designed for what you want. This is a quality spoon. The metal is sturdy. The head is heat resistant (although I've seen it start to blister during really hot stir frying) and pliable enough to scrape the last bits of liquid and goodness from a pan. Cleanup is easy with the dishwasher.The weight is great and it generally feels pretty good in my hand.

The one major thing it lacks is any depth to the head of the spoon so it is not ideal for scooping or serving especially things that don't stick together like brussel sprouts, broccoli, and fruit salad. I don't think that was the aim of the product so its not something I would rank down for, but it is something you should probably consider before purchasing.

Similarly I don't think this spoon was designed for scraping burnt on bits. Its head is a bit to soft for that. It can scrape some burnt on things a bit, but its not going to do as good of a job as a hard metal or nylon spoon. This of course will protect your non stick cookware in the long run, but its another thing to think about when you're purchasing cooking utensils.

With those concerns intact, this product is deserving of a 5 star ranking because it is absolutely stellar at what it was designed to be and thats a non abrasive stirring spoon. The spoon is perfectly stiff and not too, too heavy. Its head is flat allowing you to have more stirring control and its slightly soft as to not scratch the surfaces of your expensive cookware.

With that:

Although I enjoyed using this spoon in the beginning, at the ripe old age of 6 months the silicone edge cracked numerous times, making them now useless. I have been searching for and researching ceramic cookware for months. I came across these and, even though there are vey few reviews, I decided to give them a try. I got the 2qt saucepan, the 10 1/4" frying pan and the 8" frying pan. So far they are all wonderful! The heat is very evenly distributed. I have used the saucepan to brown ground turkey & onions, for spaghetti sauce, heating up vegetables, and other things, and so far everything cleans up easily. I am very happy with the Bialetti Aeturnum pans! I just wish they had a few more sizes!

When I first bought this in Oct 2011 I was so thrilled. The ceramic coating is way easy to clean. I love the red, which spices up my kitchen.

Unfortunately, the coating has started to chip badly around the top, and even on the bottom now I've discovered a chip within the past week.

I don't abuse my pans. I use nylon or wood cooking utensils. I wash by hand.

It's really too bad that it's started to chip like this. I was going to buy a cast iron pan (there are two brands here on Amazon) but was not pleased with the reviews. I use this pan almost every day for soup at lunchtime and veggies at dinner. It has to be sturdy but light enough for me to handle.

Well, the time limit has expired for return, so today I bought a nice stainless steel pan to replace this pan. Wish it could have lasted longer. :(

I purchased a Bialetti Aeternum skillet and absolutely fell in love with it. So we purchased the 2 qt covered sauce pan and love it too.

Tonight whilst washing dishes (no dishwasher here except the 2-legged variety) we noticed that one of our Paula Deen skillets had teflon peeling off the bottom of it. I immediately threw in the garbage can without hesitation. I had 2 of the Paula Deen stockpots and finally returned them to the store.

Anyway here I am tonight ordering another Bialetti Aeternum skillet. Now we have 2 of the skillets and the 2 qt sauce pan.

What is even more wonderful is that they are red...............all our cookware and dishes are red!

Husband will be in trouble if he tries to ferret this Bialetti Aeternum cookware out of the house to the hunting camp!!!!

It could actually be an elegant piece of engineering, but in person it looks like a pair of chinese-knockoff-$5-sunglasses.

Cons:

1. The finish does wear off on the inside, and chips on the edges.

2. It got slightly mishapen during shipping.

3. The metallic finish looks cheap. It is cheap, plastic coated metallic paint. It ruins what would basically be an elegant design. Really not classy, gross in fact. To be clear, I keep this hidden from view with guests around.

4. The handle is made of cheap bakelite plastic. If you heat it up, it will begin to smoke it will smell like, burnt plastic and death.

Pro

1. Stuff really does not stick to the sides. And I guess it is not toxic.

2. having a white backdrop to your cooking is interesting.

3. there are no Rivets connecting the handle to the inside of the cooking.

3. There are few other options on the market.

Bialetti, please put a bit more effort into using higher quality materials for the handle, edges and finishes.

These are very light weight, cheaply made replacements, but in the end, functional. A pair was less than $5 with shipping. The material looks stainless, but the nut in the knob or the weld spot rusted after a day in the water. Bolt head is little small so I provided own stainless washer.

I recently bought a Kuhn Rikon 4th Burner Multi Pot which I love! But I had this pot first and thought it might be going to a friend once I got my multi-pot. But it still proves very useful, despite the fact that they're highly similar items.

This pot is much better for making sauces, not only compared to the multi-pot, but any pot. The measures on the inside are useful and it has a surprisingly large capacity. The really thick bottom and large opening make it great for sautéing vegetables or browning meat before adding the rest of the ingredients. It's also great for heating up and stirring sauces and liquids. Again, compared to the multi-pot the wider mouth and more angle sides makes it easier to stir, see what you're doing and heat evenly. And compared to your standard pots, the pitcher design makes it great for controlling the pour of your liquid/sauce/oatmeal after you've finished heating it up.

The only reason this gets 4 stars is due to the lack of lid while cooking. This would be great for a bolognese sauce if I had a lid I could use to cover it while the sauce was simmering.

I saw one of these at work and decided it was a good addition to my kitchen at home. It is built very well. It is mostly plastic, but it feels very solid--not flimsy. I agree the blade is a little hard to clean, but I usually just rinse it with the sink sprayer or insert a brush from the bottom. (The blade is sharp--I don't recommend trying to wash it using your hands.) We usually buy bagels at the bakery or donut shop and all of the ones we usually get fit in alright. (An oversized bagel might be a problem, but most normal bagels fit.) We also use it for slicing English muffins: you can hold the English muffin from the sides until the tip of the blade catches and then just slice down through. We have not had any problem with the muffins sticking to the blade, even with cinnamon raisin bagels. Works well and very safe if you use it correctly.

I first have to come clean, I used to mock people that needed help slicing a bagel in half. Then I had surgery on my right hand. And cut my elbow trying to slice a bagel. (Not totally as crazy as it seems, I was using my elbow to hold down the bagel.) This was a life saver. I wound up getting two, one for work and one for home, and now I can at least feed myself breakfast. So for all those folks out there who, for whatever reason, need help slicing a bagel, this is great. Get one (or two), and feel no shame!

This is advertised as a tri-ply pot -but what I just received was an ordinary steel pot with an aluminum disk brazed to the bottom. In fact, the pot I was sent looks nothing like the one pictured: the shape is different, the lip is different, the pot is different.

$99 is not a bad price for a tri-ply stock pot, but one can buy a disk-bottom pot of similar quality just about anywhere for half this price. I'd have to say this was a complete rip-off.

As of this date, I do not believe the 12-qt stock pot shown on the Amazon site is the same as the 12-qt on the Calphalon site. In fact, I do not think that the Amazon image is the 12-qt pot. It looks like the 8-qt. All of my other cookware in the Contemporary line are "completely" clad. That is, they have an entirely smooth exterior surface and the sides are thick. The 12-qt as shown on the Calphalon site--and the one I received, is clad ONLY on the bottom--like other less expensive pots. The sides are relatively thin--like less expensive pots. At first I thought I received the wrong pot. Only after looking at the Calphalon site did I notice the difference. Having said this, I am not sure it is a huge issue because the bottom is where you need the heat for a large stock pot. Aside from the issues I mentioned, the pot is an beautiful as the others in the Contemporary line and the lid has a wonderfully snug fit. Under decent heat, the pot brings and hold water at a roiling boil which is perfect for cooking pasta.

I thought I was getting my wife nice pot for a present she wanted. First time use food burned and stuck to the bottom. The bottom inside and out stained as well as the inside walls. I can't get the stains and some of the food burn marks off. My $20 pot from Wal-mart does better than this. Not Happy at all! Contacted Calphalon and they are sorry but they don't make this pot anymore. They did not offer and exchange or an upgrade. Nor did they do anything about the narrative describing the pot. Be carefull and check to see if the item you are buying is still a good item with the manufacturer before you buy! I guess I'm stuck with a 99.00 flower pot.

Warning! The description from Amazon is utterly misleading! This Contemporary line DOES NOT contain aluminum on the side walls, only on the botton. If you want aluminum on the side walls, go for the Tri-ply line. The use of the term "Aluminum Core" or "Full Aluminum Core" is very misleading. Also, use caution with the label "Tri-ply" since that could mean only on the bottom; aluminum sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel...(Fine Print: "but only on the bottom.")

Beware of misleading advertising. The box for this product has a label on the bottom that says "Aluminum bottom," but you won't know that until you order and receive the product.

There is also a large difference in the quality of stainless steel metal used between Calphalon's Contemporary and Tri-ply lines; Tri-ply is higher quality metal. I advise getting assurance it's 18/10 stainless steel, at least on the food surface. Calphalon "does not" use 18/10 in all of their products for cooking surface. Key point: 18/10 is not magnetic, so it won't work on induction stoves; you want 18/0 exterior layer for induction stoves, but still should have 18/10 for interior surface.

This is my first purchase of a Calphalon encapsulated bottom pan. I own other Calphalon pans that are 3 ply stainless steel. I recently cooked pea soup in this stockpot on low heat for two hours and when I stirred the bottom the pea soup was scorched. If you are looking for a heavy duty stockpot this is not one I would recommend. Pay the extra money and get All-Clad.

The Calphalon Unison Roasting Pan is a solid well-made roaster and is very easy to clean up. Make sure you read the "Use & Care" pamphlet that comes with it. Before your first use, you must wash it with warm water, dishwashing liquid and a non-abrasive sponge or soft bristle brush then dry it. After the initial wash, wipe the interior with a light coat of cooking oil to condition the cooking surface. As other reviewers have said to ensure it's authenticity it will say Toledo, OH USA on the bottom of the pan.

I didn't purchase my Calphalon Unison roaster through Amazon.com, but through a chef's outlet store at a mall. (Because there was a small scratch in the non-stick, I was able to obtain the roaster at a very affordable price.) When you receive the roaster, check the underside it should say Calphalon, SEAR, Toledo, Ohio. Mine has those words and I can report it cooks and cleans up flawlessly.

Please don't be put off by the bad reviews. When the pan is authentic it is a top-notch item and well worth the price. I purchased mine for a Thanksgiving turkey and gave it a test run with roast chicken. It was the easiest chicken I've ever cooked. Even a novice can cook like a pro with this superb roasting pan.

I bought this from a local home store and feel compelled to write a review only because it's a brilliant product. This is not my first Calphalon Unison product, but it's my first roasting pan. Previously I've used cheap aluminum pans that are disposable. My birds were cooked unevenly, I had problems with browning, control of the juices was hard.

Well, not anymore. This pan is outstanding. The rack lifts the meat up off the bottom of the pan so the heat can get all around it. My first choice, a turkey, came out golden brown and delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly, the thighs were the same temperature as the breast and nothing but the wings ended up overcooked (they always do so I wasn't surprised). It's big enough for a turkey, or maybe two chickens. You could probbaly roast an entire rib roast primal (prime rib anyone?). It's solid, well made, and the aluminum construction makes it pretty light considering how well its made. It also doubles and will go stove top. I made my gravy by deglazing this pan with white wine, some stock, and thickened it right in the pan.

What's best about Unison though is the cleanup. Put it in the dishwasher. That's right. Just load it in, a Cascade tablet, slam the door, turn it on, and walk away. It comes out clean as a whistle and the coatings stay intact.

"Wow" pretty much describes how I feel about this roaster. Bought it just before Thanksgiving, followed the very minimal instructions to wash with warm soapy water and lightly coat with vegetable oil. Could not believe: 1) how beautiful the turkey turned out, looked like something out of a movie, browned perfectly all around, presume combination of perfectly even heat all around the bird and being up out of juices, 2) how beautiful the gravy turned out (with the wrong pan, doesn't carmalize/nasty color), 3) amazing clean up. Seriously, after dinner, when remaining gravy had congealed in roaster, I lifted pan, tilted at angle and poured the remaining gravy into a bowl. Could not believe my eyes, didn't even need a scraper. To top it off, warm soapy water and a sponge was all it took to clean it. Blew me away. Note: Had purchased the 8qt Stock Pot, 5qt Dutch Oven and 4qt Soup Pot before purchasing the roaster, all are same quality, fantastic. Use at least one of them every day, again, they're fantastic.
