years ago, i'd bought one in a department store in Paris: it's quite large, with a very practical handle, and it's wonderfully light! now with problems with my arms, and looking for a chopping board for a house in England, i called Ironwood Gourmet, and was told i could find it on Amazon...

i've seen many chopping boards over the years, but this one is the very best possible!!!

Very well made and quite attractive...

The ring in the handle is substantial and makes hanging

I would definitely recommend this cutting board...

Be sure to keep it oiled...

Based on the reviews I was expecting something much nicer. The wood color is not as rich as in the picture and I would say it's just ok...

Honest reviews on Ironwood Gourmet Acacia Wood Round Paddleboard

This is a beautiful wood "paddle" that is very useful for serving pizza, cheese and crackers or other snacks. I like that it has a hanging loop because it's quite decorative hanging on my kitchen wall. Just wipe it off to clean it.

So far, I am very pleased with this purchase. The board is beautiful, the wood grain varies and looks just like the picture. It is a little thinner than the ones I'd had before but that is fine fits better in my smallish hands. I also appreciate the hole and loop of leather which allow me to hang it up to dry. Please be advised, one cannot lay these boards down to store, they accumulate mold from being wet. So, hanging them unencumbered is the best way to store them. This one is also a nice size. (All I use mine for is chopping vegetables and fruits).

I had the same skillet for about 3 years but the handle broke. I could not find a replacement in the stores but I liked it so much I searched on the Internet and found it at Amazon. I liked it enough to seek out another even though I know the handle may break again. It is because of the quality of the coating. Others I tried or saw other people use seemed weaker to me. However, it does scratch but it is superficial. I do not use metal utensils on mine even though it says you can. It does not come with a lid so I found a flat lid to use with it when needed. I have been using the new one several weeks and am pleased with the way it cooks and does not stick at all. Clean up is always a breeze. That is why I gave it four stars. I even use the broken one for a back up when I need two.

This pan is advertised as 12 inches, it even says so on the box, but is only 11-3/4. It is a nice looking pan, stainless steel with a hard base for even heating. I have no doubts about the quality of the nonstick on this pan, I researched nonstick coatings before deciding which pan to buy and Eclipse (also advertised as Innovex) which is what this pan has, is one of the best nonstick coatings around. It's just that I was purchasing a replacement for a worn out 12-inch pan, for which I have an expensive glass lid. It does not fit on this pan and all of my other lids are too small. The flat surface of this pan is small as well; only about 8-1/2 inches, where my old 12-inch pan has a flat surface of nearly 10-1/2 inches. Also beware that if the pan doesn't suit your needs, Ace Hardware Outlet has a restocking fee for returned items.

Well, we wanted waffles and that's what we got with this waffle maker. It works as advertised. Nothing fancy here. Plug it in, make the batter and by the time you're done mixing the batter, the ready light is off and you pour your first waffle. Takes about 4 minutes per waffle and they come out moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. And they don't stick. I don't use any spray or butter on the non-stick surfaces. So, we are happy with our waffles.

UPDATE 11/8/09: It's been eight years and this waffle maker is still going strong. We use it about once a week and it has never failed to delight us with great waffles. And it's easy to clean too.

UPDATE 8/12/12: Still working great although my doctor says I should cut back on the waffles. I don't think so.

I've had this waffle maker for several years and it makes THE BEST waffles! They are crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth moist on the inside. It also is great for people who don't have a lot of space in their kitchen. It stands upright for storage. Also, what makes this waffle maker rate above others is the fact that it is VERY easy to clean! Other waffle irons can be hard to clean because the batter will ooze out and into little hard to reach spots and then you have to wait for it to cool and try to wipe it out somehow. I've owned other waffle makers before that did this. There's still dried out, old batter from places that were impossible to clean out! The Proctor Silex one does not have this problem. I practically don't even have to clean it! After I'm done, I'll wipe it gently with a paper towel, and that's about it! This combined with the fact that the Proctor Silex waffle maker also makes better waffles than other brands makes this the best one on the market.

Best Deals for Proctor-Silex 26500Y Durable Belgian Waffle Baker

This is a great basic waffle iron. It does have an indicator light to tell you when it's ready for the batter. I've seen other irons with timers or lights to indicate when the waffles are done, but I've used this one dozens of times and never burned a waffle yet. The non stick surface is easy to clean and the waffles turn out perfect, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I actually use this much more than I thought I would...the kids love them!

Honest reviews on Proctor-Silex 26500Y Durable Belgian Waffle Baker

I bought this exact waffle maker more than 10 years ago, and it's still working! We use it about 2-3 times a week, and it has cooked well over 4,000 waffles. This is a big statement to quality, in my opinion, in a world where almost all products are manufactured to break just after their warranty ends. My model doesn't have any fancy bells and whistles -just a light to indicate when it's heating, no settings other than "on" and "off" via plugged in or not, and crispness level is achieved by how much time you leave the waffle in the maker. But, given how these bells and whistles like to break on other gadgets, simplicity is sometimes better. If you want a good, simple waffle maker, this one is great.

My only complaint in all the time I've used it is the white part (the main body) gets hot when in use. I've actually used the closed waffle iron to melt chocolate wafers in a small glass dish set on top the iron (see how it's abused, poor thing!). It's never been hot enough to cause a burn, though. If I put my hand on it, it's hot, I take my hand off, end of story. I've never considered it to be a safety issue even with children. By virtue of proximity, the blue handle sometimes gets a bit warm as well, though not as warm as the white part. I've not had experience with other waffle makers, but it would make sense to me that the body of the iron gets hot, so I hesitate to even call this a flaw.

The only reason I'm even on Amazon looking for a new iron right now is because this one is just about worn out. There's a small crack in the back (my fault for dropping it, but yes, it has still worked for many years after that accident), and the spring connecting the two halves popped out from its channel in the hinge (again, probably due to dropping it on my part). Plus, after so many years the iron has lost its non-stick properties, and there's gummy residue in places where I can't reach it from so much use. But, all in all, these are minor issues -for a waffle iron that's been through 10 years of very hard work in our family, it's unbelievable how it's held up. Even after I replace it, I'll keep this one in my cupboard, because I just can't part with it.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Proctor-Silex 26500Y Durable Belgian Waffle Baker

We recently were searching for a replacement waffle iron since our broke, so I started my search by reading all the on-line reviews. I was tempted by the higher priced waffle makers with all their features, but figured they probably won't make any better waffle when a cheaper one. I liked the reviews on the morning baker belgian waffle maker, so I bought one (found it at a different store for less money though). We have made waffles many times with it, and it really does make good waffles. It is also really easy to clean up. One thing I don't like about it though is that the handle gets really hot while cooking. I have to use a pot holder to lift up the handle every time I make waffles. Besides the handle getting too hot, we are pleased with our purchase.

I wanted this to boil potatoes, and it does that, but it's so hard to scrub the potato starch out of the mesh that I use a completely different mashed potato recipe. Buy the pasta insert instead with holes punched in a solid panel of metal, which should do everything you'd want from the mesh insert. By the way after years of professional and amateur bartending and catering I rate this as the BEST ICE BUCKET EVER. User-friendly and keeps ice frozen for hours, and doubles as a cooking pot the rest of the year. However, my recommendation to buy the hole-punched pasta insert still applies for the same reasons.

Seriously, though, BEST ICE BUCKET EVER.

Excellent pot for large batches of pasta or veggies or anything you want to boil. You could likely choose to use it to deep fry, as well , but I have the all clad deep frying basket for that. However, this one would certainly hold much more. And you can choose not to use the insert and you have the best priced all clad stock pot on the market. (The 8 qt stock pot currently runs $259.) As with all All Clad products, this set is very well made and will not disappoint. Excellent value rating from an All Clad lover and loyal user.

I got this blender for my wife for Christmas. She always hated how our cheap, $50 blender couldn't handle ice when making smoothies. I didn't know anything about the Ninja, but it seemed to be gaining a lot of popularity so I decided to look into it. The thing that really sold me on this blender was simply the fact that it could handle ice like it's nothing at all (it can quite literally turn ice into snow in a matter of seconds) and even though I wanted a Vitamix, I just couldn't justify spending $400+ if this blender could do what we wanted it to do.

I also liked that it came with the single serve option, because not only can we get rid of our Magic Bullet, but sometimes blending is a hassle because we don't feel like cleaning the pitcher. But with the single serve, it is a lot less hassle to clean, plus there isn't anything wasted because we can make just the right amount. Basically it has all the same benefits that the Magic Bullet does. And yes, even the single serve pitcher has no problem with blending ice.

This blender is by far the best blender I have ever used. You can *easily* tell the difference between this blender and regular, non-high end blenders. But I also noticed that a lot of people seem to be comparing this to a Vitamix or Blendtec, and I'll say it's just not going to stack up compared to those blenders (there is a reason those blenders cost more than 3x the amount this blender does). So if you've got your heart set on a Vitamix or Blendtec, and for you having the absolute smoothest drinks are worth that kind of money, then you might as well take the plunge and get what you want. But if you're like me and simply wanted to have great smoothies, but you're not expecting Jamba Juice level quality, then this is a really great blender.

A few things need to be said though:

-The six blade technology seems great on paper, and has its advantages. But one downside is it makes it so you cannot fit as much into the pitcher as it takes up some room. That is probably why Europro gave this thing an extra large pitcher. But on the plus side, I've noticed a lot of cheaper blenders have problems with the contents getting stuck at the bottom near the blades while everything else above it doesn't get blended. That's usually because the cheaper blenders simply don't have the power to make a powerful enough vortex like the Vitamix does. Also, because of the Ninja's blades being shaped more like a food processor's blades, it makes it easier to make things like salsa using the pulse option. A regular blender tends to blend too much, even when using the pulse option.

-The description is wrong, this unit is 1100W, not 1000W.

-It makes AWESOME fruit smoothies. But I tried a green drink that was nothing but spinach, carrots, apples, and a cucumber. Aside from the fact that it was the nastiest drink ever, it was too pulpy to drink. I'm not sure how a Vitamix would have handled this disgusting concoction, but I've heard a lot of complaints that the Ninja doesn't handle green drinks very well. But I have found that if I essentially make a fruit smoothie, made of things like banana, strawberries, or blueberries, and then throw in a handful of leafy greens, it handles it very well.

I'd recommend this blender to anyone who wants to have a good, heavy duty blender, but cannot afford to spend $400+ on a Vitamix. It's stylish, it makes the best smoothies I've had from a home blender around this price, and it's got a lot of power for a reasonable price.

UPDATE 2/8/2013: My wife and I have been using this blender just about every single day, two to three times a day since getting it. So far it is still doing very well and working as good as new. But with more experience with it, I just wanted to give a little more details.

If you're reading this review and wondering whether or not you should get this model of the Ninja or the regular $99 Ninja Pro without the single serve, I would say you should really get this Ninja. Because one problem I have found with the big pitcher is that it cannot grind flax seeds because the blade sits about an inch from the bottom of the pitcher. This means that if you put flax seeds (or some other grains) into the pitcher the blades will spin above the seeds and they won't get get ground. The only way around this is to put in enough flax seeds so that they can reach the blades. Or a better way is to use the single serve cups. The single serve cups have a more traditional blender blade set up that sits at the bottom of the cups and this makes grinding flax seeds a breeze.

Also, there has been concerns with the Ninja making green smoothies. In general, fruit smoothies turn out very smooth in the Ninja blender. Green smoothies can also be done. However, it partly depends on what you consider a good smoothie. The Ninja can blend green smoothies to a drinkable consistency, and you'll never have a "chunk" to chew if you let it blend long enough (at least for a minute or two on speed 3) but it will often be gritty. However, the single serve cups are the key to make the green smoothies into a "Vitamix-like" consistency. In general the single serve cups make better smoothies than the big pitcher does. Also please see the comments on this review where I give a link to the basics of making a green smoothie. I think it can help people out a lot, as it really helped me.

So what is the big pitcher good for aside from the obvious (more volume)? It can make great fruit smoothies, it can make drinkable green smoothies (but not as good as the single serve cups) and I use it to make homemade peanut butter! I just go to Winco and buy some dirt-cheap bulk peanuts and put them into the blender. Then I blend it on 3 for a few minutes and before I know it, I have a real, home-made peanut butter. Also, as I said before, because of the big pitcher's food processor-like blades, it does a really good job of chopping food without blending them. I use it all the time to "shred" cabbage for coleslaw, or chop onions. And of course, if I want a large volume of smoothies (even green ones) I'll use the big pitcher.

Overall, if not for the single serve cups, I would probably give this blender a 4 out of 5 stars. But the single serve cups make up for the deficiencies of the pitcher. The main point is that the single serve cups can make fantastic smoothies while the big pitcher can only make great smoothies. But the big pitcher is good when used as a food processor, which the small cups cannot do. And the small cups are better for grinding grains like flax seeds.

Quick update/note: the price seems to have increased here. Check out Bed Bath & Beyond. Last I checked, they had it for $129, less their 20% coupons, that's $103.

We got this several months ago and have used consistently it for at least two smoothies per day. Ingredients range from really tough (ice) to leafy and insubstantial (kale), and of course a plethora of fruit, and it blends it all down to tiny, consistent pieces within seconds. I think ten seconds on this blender with the small cup is overkill. It is very fast and very strong. Flavor is important to me, so if I could taste or had to chew on the kale, I wouldn't include it.

Before this, I had the Bella Cucina (a knock off of the magic bullet). I loved it until its untimely death but the contrast in quality is stark. The cups are much thicker and clearer, their lids taller and more useful, and they are worlds apart on their blending capabilities. Every piece in this thing just feels like great quality and makes the Bella cucina look worse than ever by comparison.

I LOVE having the option of the large pitcher or two two smaller cups. I wanted another small-cup blender like the magic bullet but also need a bigger one occasionally, and who has room for two appliances that do the same thing? The fact that every piece is dishwasher safe is a huge bonus and a must for me. The instructions say "top rack preferred" but the huge large blender cup is way too tall for the top rack.

I just wish there were more cup attachments/cup blades sold separately. As of now (late 2012/early 2013), they're not. This comes with two cups but only one blade that fits the cups. That's certainly not enough for me to knock down a star, though. ***UPDATE: EXTRA CUPS/PITCHER NOW SOLD SEPARATELY AND AVAILABLE AT BED BATH AND BEYOND.

We fill the cups with the ingredients the night before, then fill them up with juice in the morning, blend, and we each have a healthy breakfast in under ten seconds. We both have experienced a lasting energy boost from the smoothies.

Update: I've now had this blender for six months and I can't imagine living without it. Actually, I'm pretty sure I'd be on my way to an early grave without it. This thing is a godsend, and so is kale. After discussing superfoods with a knowledgeable Whole Foods employee, I started adding acai berry powder, chia seeds/psyllium husk, wheatgrass, and some protein powder. This is the perfect way to get a huge portion of your daily nutrients, antioxidants, and cancer-fighting goodness in a delicious smoothie. I feel better than I have since I was a kid!

Tips for green smoothies: with this ninja, the kale is easy chopped into such tiny pieces you really won't taste it. However, if adding other greens with a stronger flavor, a bit of green apple/green apple juice or a whole kiwi will wipe that flavor right out. Orange juice also helps a lot if you use it as your base. I've found the best, though, to be a very ripe banana.

I must have researched a dozen different blenders before finally deciding. If money was NOT an issue I def would have gone for the vitamix. But since money is an issue I needed a lower priced blender. I saw this in walmart and thought it looked perfect for my needs (daily smoothie and occasional cooking). I was very pleasantly surprised by this blender!! The small individual serving blender is perfect for my daily smoothies with soooo much less clean up. The power is amazing! I crush and blend ice, frozen fruit, and protein mixes with the individual. I use the big one for mixes and larger jobs. Ive had the blender now for about 2 months and I still love it. I highly recommend this for fruit smoothies. I havent tried green smoothies yet...(My body isnt ready for that)..but if/when I do I will update review.

Honest reviews on Ninja BL660 Professional Style Blender with Single Serve

Had some hesitancy in purchasing this product after reading the mixed Amazon reviews. But after my Oster $30 blender finally kicked the bucket and in need for my daily smoothie, I decided to purchase the Ninja. While some reviews complained at how noisy it is, I was pleasantly surprised at how much quieter it was over the Oster (maybe 40% reduction). In terms of blending, wow, no comparison what so ever to the Oster. While the Oster really struggled to blend frozen fruit, ground flax seed, Greek yogurt, and some V-8 juice, the Ninja blended it without any effort in only three pulses (and I really don't understand how some reviewers faulted the Ninja for not blending smoothies perfectly)! The Ninja is an impressive piece of engineering that is the epitome of thoughtful consumer design. The machine is hefty, the pitcher made of quality and durable polycarbonate, and I expect this blender to last way beyond the two to three years I get out of a typical $30 blender. I haven't crushed ice yet for margaritas, but I expect it will handle that task given how powerful the motor is and the sharpness (and number of blades). But, as others have warned, the blades are unbelievably sharp. Despite knowing this fact, I still managed to slice my index finger severely (should have had 3-4 stitches-but I am stubborn, just rubbed some dirt in it) while trying to extract the last bit of smoothie from the pitcher (warning, do no turn upside down without the lid locked firmly in place-the blade apparatus slides out very easily). While some might fault the Ninja for my injury, it was operator error all the way. So do not underestimate the blades, and in fact, I clean it by a few drops of Dawn, hot water, a couple of pulses, rinse and then done. Don't even try to take out blade assembly out and wash, too much chance for error. I also love the suction cups that keeps the Ninja firmly on the counter, it doesn't move like the Oster did when blending (though some might complain that moving the Ninja from the counter-top to a cabinet might find the suction cups annoying). Finally, after comparing the reviews between the Ninja Professional vs. the entry level Ninja, I decided to go with the Professional because of the single serve options. Haven't used them yet but I can see the utility of having them (not to mention, it seems the Professional is a bit more heavy duty than the entry level Ninja). If you are wondering if the Ninja price tag, more three times of a bottom end blender is worth it, I will attest that the Ninja Professional is worth the extra cost.

I just love cake moulds. There is something about them that brings back memories of my grandmother's cakes and tarts. You know, the sort of cakes they made long ago during the Victorian era. Anyone can bake a cake from scratch with a little baking skill. But a moulded pound cake looks so professional. This particular cake mould is perfect for toping with glazed fruit or just your favourite jam. Nordic Ware is the leading manufacturer of these cake moulds and has produced a variety of them in dazzling shapes and designs. I think that the best compliment that I have ever received was from a friend, who upon first seeing my finished cake on the table, remarked: "Will you look at this?! This is unbelievable. Did you really make this cake?" The price is high, but well worth it, because the end result will be your crowning moment. Although cake moulds do not always work for every type of cake batter, this one is particularly suited to poundcake. Clean up is "a piece of cake," if you will pardon my pun here, because the interior of the mould is non-stick. I prefer to spay a vegetable coating however. Be the first to amaze everyone at a church potluck supper or cake sale. I bet your cake will sell or be gobbled up faster than someone else's ordinary cake.

As it says on the packaging, always use a little bit of oil or non-stick cooking spray. For the most part this pan is pretty sturdy than what I imagined. The handle does get a little warm while using it on the stove, but not enough to bother. I always use it on medium to medium-low setting for a gas stove and it is definitely more than enough heat to cook what I like. The base of the pan is actually pretty thick, it helps retain heat and spreads out the heat evenly to create a uniform cooking surface. I am definitely looking forward to purchasing all the evolution series pans.

An Additional note to the purchasers of these pans, if you want your pans to last DO NOT use metal utensils, and a typical sponge (not the rough scrubbing portion) will do to clean them. If you stack your pans, think about the metal of the other pans scratching the edges or the inside of the pan. That will also ruin you pans faster.

The ceramic is truly non-stick. Food just slides off. I even left it on a low burner for longer than I'd like to admit, and it cleaned up fine, slight coloration. I love an 8-inch saute pan. I use it every day, usually for reheating baby food (I don't have a microwave). Also great for a couple eggs.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This modern cookware set is awesome!!! Not only are they gorgeous, but they are sooooo easy to clean. There is nothing worse than when a pot/pan gets all brown and funky and then to not be able to get the stains off of them. That's not the case with these though. They are so beautiful. I get lots of compliments when I cook with them. People always ask me what brand they are and when I tell them, they never believe me. They always think they are calphalon or some similar brand. They are one of my favorite set of pots that I own.

This set comes with alot of items as well. Moreso than any other brand that I have purchased or received to review. I think the quality of this cookware set is one of the best I've seen and the value as well.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This will be a great gift for a young bride and groom. These pots are great for a couple starting out together. These pots are not for serious cookers. They are light weight can get scratched and that means the anodized will peel off and then they become trash . No one can no longer eat out of them. These do no heat evenly on my electric stove. Handles still get hot and the baking pans are this. If you are giving this as a gift make sure to buy the silicon utensils so they will not stick metal objects in it. Overall great start up set.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have noticed that a lot of people are saying this is a great starter set and I have to agree with them. I am not really a starter but I do not cook that often since I am always gone working. But thus far this little 12 piece set has been doing just fine. Of course like others have pointed out some of the "pieces" are actually the lids but that is ok.

You get four of the cooking pots and two sauce pans a long with the cooking sheets, that would be two as well. The pans are fine up to 500 F while everything else is safe up to 350 F. Now I don't know if you can go any higher since I have not tried but that is up to you. The grips are cool and so is the color I guess, that never really mattered to me. Of course the no stick touch is always a welcome addition and the glass tops make it easier to watch the food while it cooks. If you are interested in this kind of set then I say pick it up, been working well for me.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm not the number one reviewer of items, but I must say I believe I may be one of the worst cooks you'll find on Amazon. But as an adult woman, I find I have to feed myself a few times a day, and that entails cooking. I've inadvertently destroyed some beautiful cookware in the past, but I am glad to say this set isn't going to be one of them. I find them to be excellent for heating the food evenly without that little burnt spot in the middle. God forbid you actually burn something a little bit, the pans are very forgiving and are truly non stick. Cleaning these is a breeze and I find that they don't scratch either. The orange color is very appealing and the handles help you avoid burns to yourself! In conclusion, as a horrible chef, I rate these pots excellent!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program First the pros they're not too heavy, they're non-stick and they're dishwasher safe (supposedly). I also really like the padding on the handles, it provides a nice comfortable grip over a fairly large area.

The cons the baking sheets as included pieces, what's with this anyway? If I'm buying cookware, I want cookware, not bakeware. Plus the handles are only oven safe to 350 which seems rather odd as it's not uncommon to use baking sheets at higher temps. Also, I wish some of the lids had a strainer feature. It's not a huge deal, but it is convenient and it's a feature I've really come to like. These pieces do scratch rather easily, even with plastic utensils.

Overall, I do like this set and think it'd make a nice starter set, especially if you can find it on sale.

These Pyrex dishes are great! I can pack my lunch (even soup!) in these dishes & carry them to work in my purse, with no worries about them leaking! It doesn't even matter if it turns sideways or upside down. The best part is that I can reheat my lunch in the same dish. i would definitely recommend them!

Ever important to me is being able to transport food to work without leakage, and these work. I ride my bike to work and zero problems. Love glass to avoid BPA and reheating in plastic. Work great in freezer, microwave, oven. Definitely recommend

So far, so good! I had been searching for good, glass containers for my husband to carry lunch to work in (usually leftovers, usually leaking all over his bag). These work great, no leaks!

I usually cook ahead for 2 days at a time and these are great to store the food. They look neat and close tight and they go in the dishwasher. It's just the right size for a lunch or dinner, too. Makes healthy eating easier.

This is a wonderful pot, as beautiful as it is useful. Although large enough for a big dish, it's also good for moderate-sized recipes, where for example you fry onions and have to stir a lot -the ingredients don't overflow the pot or splash out. Seasoning it was a snap: just rub in a bit of cooking oil. Because it heats up well on low heat, there's less danger of burning the food. And of course, this glossy red pot looks great! The interior finish is black enamel; has to be treated carefully (wooden or plastic utensils), but can't, I assume, discolor or show scratches. The only drawback for some may be its weight: the pot alone weighs 8 pounds and the lid 5 pounds. Add some contents and you have a hefty piece, which might be too much for some to lift out, hot, from the oven.

I love this pot... but I rarely use it. I bought this cocotte about 2 years ago and may have used it twice in that time frame. I consider it to be a medium size, and for some recipes, even small. I expected to use it mostly for cassoulet but my recipe overflows from this pot so that didn't work out so well. Depending on the volume you typically cook, it could be an absolutely fabulous pot but I almost always defer to my Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 7-1/4-Quart French Oven. I tend to make big pots of soups or stews, or occasionally roast a chicken, so the cocotte is a little less convenient. This may be just me, but I tend to think of it as more of an oven piece than a stovetop piece, maybe given the shape. I plan to find more ways to utilize it, but if you have other enameled cast iron pots in this size range or bigger, this may not be the most useful thing to purchase. If you don't, and you almost always cook in small quantities, this is a beautiful addition. But if you're only going to buy one piece, I would recommend sizing up a few quarts to get more use out of the pot.

Also, my pot was not the solid cherry red shown in the photo, but a more variegated deep red at the bottom fading into the cherry red toward the top. It's really beautiful and I'm glad it ended up being different than the photo, but just a heads up.

I hadn't bought new cookware in ages. I visited my elderly parents and my mother of all people had these in her cabinet. After using them I found them really nice and decided to order some for myself. I'm very impressed with non-stick surface. We will have to see how well it fares long term, but so far I love it.

These are ok but nowhere near as good as the original T-Fal, it scratches easily, inside and out. Seems to be poor quality.

I got this pair of frying pans, or skillets. I've been trying to find lids for them. No luck. I've contacted T-Fal Customer Service and this is what I got back from them;

("Our saute pans were designed as open saute pans. As such, they do not come equipped with lids nor do we have the lids available for purchase seperately.

However, universal lids which may fit depending on the size of the pan are available from several retailers.

They lids may be available at Kmart, Kohl's, Bon-Ton Wal-Mart, Shopko, Target and Elderbeerman.")

I've found and tried the T-fal "Universal Lid" and it doesn't come close to fitting these. The handles are higher than the rim of the pan and that wont let the lid sit flat on the pan. I have 3 drawers full with over a dozen different sized lids and not a single one will fit either of these frying pans. Or as T-Fal insists on calling them "Saute pans" The only thing I can do to use them is us a piece of aluminum foil to cover it and that is barely more than nothing. So even though I've had these for about 6 months I still haven't been able to use them.

And I know it ain't proper to write a review on something until it has been used. But I feel that the point that these do not have lids available for them needs to be posted. They are odd sizes and unlikely to have any other pans lid fit them. Since not having a lid available for it is pretty significant I feel that these only rate a 2 star evaluation. If they want a better rating, they need to make a lid for them, then I'll change it.

First the PROS: I was really looking forward to getting this pan. I love making lasagna, and hubby likes his loaded with lots of meat, while I go meatless. I have always wanted to be able to cook just two rows of lasagna, one for him, one for me. But traditional pans basically forced me to make 3 rows at a time because each row leans on the one next to it and that is what keeps it all in shape and not sliding all over the place. So I always had to cook more than I wanted to at a time. Yes, I know that leftovers are not a bad thing...................But the problem for me was that to make a lasagna that big to begin with you have to make around 18 noodles at a time. It takes forever to boil that much water and you have to have a very big pot to hold that much water and noodles and keep them at a rolling boil for the whole 9 minutes. I actually have a huge pot that I store in my garage that I ONLY use for boiling lasagna noodles. Well, guess what? I was able to use my regular pot to boil the water and noodles since I was only boiling 12 noodles to make the two rows of lasagna. That was a real timesaver. To me, the assembly is the most time consuming part of making lasagna. This was much faster. And because the noodles fit the pan lengthwise to begin with, I didn't have to cut noodles down to size to fit. I have actually done that before when using 2 loaf pans to make us "individual" lasagna portions.

Now the CONS: It is actually wider than the width of average aluminum foil, so covering it while baking meant that I wasn't able to mold the foil around the sides of the pan to keep any sauce from boiling over. Might be better to think ahead and place this on a cookie sheet so it doesn't leave a mess on the bottom of the oven if you go really high on the layering. I did 6 noodles high and that was as high as I think you could ever take it without having spillover. MY BIGGER COMPLAINT is that they should have included a fitted lid to fit on top of the pan, not to be used during baking, but for storing leftovers in the fridge for a day or two, especially since foil really doesn't fit this pan properly. I had to transfer the cooked pieces to a tupperware for storage, so now an extra item to have to wash, not counting whatever I have to use to reheat the lasagna up in. That really bugs me.

Second small issue. The description on Amazon does say it is dishwasher safe. But the manufacturer neglected to print that anywhere on the actual package, so I wasn't sure when I got it. I went ahead and washed it in the dishwasher. It came out fine. And best of all, the nonstick surface really did clean up the first time. I have certainly had to scrub lasagna pans before, especially glass ones, the dishwasher never get the baked-on food cleaned off completely the first time. But this one really came out clean, even areas where sauce and cheese had burned on. However, the pan is so big that it took up the entire rack and I was only able to put my silverware basket and one bowl next to it while I ran the dishwasher. I'll probably hand wash it next time. It is pretty big being that it has space between the 3 channels, plus a rim around the entire pan. I had to drop the dishwasher rack tines down to make it fit, and again, it really took up almost the entire rack.

Smaller issue: Nothing too serious, but I thought worth mentioning. First, the average lasagna noodle does fit very well lengthwise, but the channels they created actually are more narrow at the bottom than they are at the top. So the first two noodles I stacked had the curly edges kind of fold upwards. No big deal, just thought it was odd that they made it that way instead of just simply the same exact width from the top to the bottom of each channel. Not sure the reason behind designing it that way. Maybe it helps it to keep its shape when you cut into it. The included spatula is great, by the way. Fits perfectly and the design really digs the lasagna out without the piece falling apart on you. So kudos on the design of the spatula.

I can see using this pan for other baked goods down the road. Also worth mentioning, this pan is not boxed so you can't store it in its original box between uses, if you like to do that.

UPDATE: Do not leave this pan to soak to remove baked on food. I did and it got a very fine dusty area of rust. I scrubbed it thinking it was sauce, but after I dried it, the spot came back and thats when I realized it was actually rust, not dried on sauce. That was somewhat scary to me. Don't want to be eating rust. It does clean up easily when scrubbed, so stick to that or the dishwasher, but again, I wouldn't soak this pan.

A bit pricey, but a great pan. It makes a LARGE quantity of lasagna, perfectly cooked. Each section is the width of a lasagna noodle which makes assembling the dish a breeze. The pan itself is heavy with a nice quality Teflon coating. Perfect for making some lasagna and freezing some of it.

Our recipe stated that it would take 90 minutes to bake, but it only took 60 minutes. The shortened cooking time is probably because of the compartmented pan structure, so be aware when using the pan to monitor cooking time until you get used to it.

Perfect for making multiple variations for picky family members or house guests! Highly Recommend!!

Update: 1 DEC 2009. Just had another EXCELLENT lasagna made in this pan. We really love it. Makes enough to feed us and freeze the rest.

We have just rec'd our pan recently but ... are certainly ready to say this is a truly useful and high quality piece of cookware. If your family likes (or needs) menu variety you should buy this cleverly designed pan. The weight of the pan is substantial (not flimsy), the overall size is generous, and it has a tall collar at the top preventing spills. In addition the non-stick coating seems sturdy and, most importantly, works very well. Cleans up beautifully. The SS spatula included is exactly the right size and shape. We have made conventional lasagna in one section at the same time as two different high protein, low-carb versions. Everything was deliciously done, but when planning such variety you DO need to thoughtfully consider your cooking requirements for all three different recipes -and select a *single* cook time/temp that will work. We had no problem with this key step, but just needed to think it out carefully the first time. We are now daydreaming about OTHER 3-part oven meals as well as other favorite foods we might prepare in 3 interesting versions, as an alternative to the "lasagna trio" idea. We expect to make GREAT use of this very clever and high quality pan in the years ahead.

I am enjoying this specialty pan...I made three different lasagnas and my guests were amazed...they all wanted to buy this pan!! Noodles fit perfectly!! Then I made a Chocolate tres leches Cake...and I have made Grandma's Mexican Cornbread...and I made "Choc-Peanut-Butter-Hazelnut-Choc-Nutella Cookie Bars"...AND I have only had my pan for a couple of weeks!! It is delightful to have the spatula the exact width of the pan~~ so that I was able to cut the treats into the right portions to package each of them into a 4" x 2 1/2" x 9 1/2" crystal clear gusseted cello bags and tie it closed with a ribbon...then placed them all on a tray...and take them with me to my meeting of quilting friends~~they were delighted!! So, my pan is going to be used OFTEN.

And my daughter is going to receive one for Christmas!! Enjoy...TJ

I thought this was a well-made product. Like others, I didn't like the fact that it tapered at the bottom and would have preferred that the wells be consistent. That being said, I made three different kinds of lasagna and they were all perfect. I tend to overfill my lasagna and the higher sides prevented anything from spilling onto my oven. I didn't use my usual lasagna noodles, for some reason these were a little wider, but despite that the lasagne turned out perfectly.

Some people have complained about the lack of instructions for cooking times. I did cover the pan with aluminum foil (needed to put 2 sheets together to cover the top). I found that 1 hour at 375 degrees turned out the perfect lasagna. This is 30 minutes less than when I make a traditional pan of lasagna. As a matter of fact I felt like it made just as much as a traditional pan. I was worried when I put the lasagnas together that it would be less, but when I put away the leftovers, I realized just how much lasagna I had.

Love the spatula that it comes with. The perfect size for getting out a nice piece of lasagna. The first piece didn't come out easily, but after that the remaining pieces in the row came out much easier and looked a lot better.

Clean up was a breeze. Nonstick at it's finest. Didn't need to soak the pan. I'm looking forward to finding more things to make in this pan besides lasagna. I'm thinking 1 meatloaf with 2 mac and cheese. You can never have too much homemade mac and cheese.

UPDATE: Made meatloaf, mac and cheese, and a pasta bake with meatballs topped with mozzarella cheese. Everything was cooked perfectly after 45 minutes at 375. Once again cleanup was easy. Now I'm trying to think up more combinations.
