i just wanted to add my two cents to help offset some of the negative reviews. i bought this particular cooker due to the positive reviews both here and on some other websites. i wanted a cooker due to being tired of cooking potatoes with most meals and getting tired of them. i received the unit very quickly and immediately tried it out. i wanted to try brown rice first, so i washed it briefly and put it in the machine to cook. shortly, a mass of bubbles filled below the lid and started 'sputtering' through the steam hole. not happy about the mess it was making, i endured it and ended up eating some fairly good rice with my first meal. i thought "yeah, they were right, it's messy, what a bummer". so, round two and three, i cooked some more, this time trying varieties of white rice and both resulting in a repeat of the first messy attempt, along with some 'browning' of the rices on the bottom of the pan. again i thought "this is no fun, friends or guests are going to think this is a piece of junk". by this time, i had been reading quite a bit on the 'net about rice, and concluded that a more thorough rinsing of the grains were in order, so my fourth round started off with such, along with an accurate measurement of rice and water, and....a pat of butter thrown in......i thought maybe it might help it from sticking or browning in the bottom. the result......perfect rice! i'm now making that my preparation regimen and i'm getting better results each time. i'm convinced that the errors others are reporting are not the machine's fault and i'm also convinced that, like most other machines, the user needs to figure out how to use it. in a short time a person should be able to make perfect rice repeatedly. to help the bottom-sticking, i'm also now opening the lid and giving a couple of stirs a couple of times through the cooking cycle. also note, like others have said that washing the rice is a must (maybe up to and including soaking, but i haven't tried that yet), as you are washing off a lot of the starch that helps make the mess in the first place. take note of the type of rice you buy. some rices have been stripped of their vitamins and have them 'sprayed back on', the bags will have instructions on them telling you to NOT wash the rice. i would avoid those types. i have yet to steam veggies or whole meals in it, but i'm sure i can get good results from it just as well.

good luck and good health!

update: 3 years later...... absolutely one of the best electronic kitchen gadget purchases i've ever made. we use it quite a lot and it's consistent!

ok, 4 years later and it's still the bomb! yes, i DID try some veggies in the top tray, along with some fish and they worked out just fine!

I love my rice cooker and use it several times a week! But you need to wash your rice thoroughly before cooking. This will help with the "spitting water" problem the cooker has.

I enjoy using the steamer for kale, broccoli, cauliflower, or carrots. The only trick is learning when to put the veggies in while the rice is cooking so that the veggies don't overcook.

My brown rice tends to clump and stick on the bottom, even when the rice is washed. That's one problem that keeps me from rating this as a 5 star machine. The other problem is that the instruction booklet is poorly done. Brown rice needs to soak for 30 minutes before starting to cook.

I've been using this model for just over two years now with no problems at all. We routinely cook brown rice and have had none of the problems that others have called out. The one thing you must remember though is that you MUST rinse the rice (white or brown) before cooking it. We put it in a screened collander and run cold water through it for about one minute. Shake the excess water and you're ready to go. The reason for the rinse is to keep the rice from foaming while it cooks. Evidently, the rice packers dust the rice with a talcum-like substance to keep it dry. This will cause the water to foam when it boils if you don't rinse it off before you cook the rice.

Cleanup couldn't be easier. Just rinse and wipe with a soft towel. Don't use metal scrubbers becuase the pan has a non-stick coating that you don't want to scratch. After two years of moderate use, our cooker still looks new and works perfectly.

This is a premium brand, and the product has lived up to my expectations. Five stars for this one.

Honest reviews on Zojirushi NHS-18 10-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker/Steamer & Warmer

I spent quite some time doing research on rice cookers. I ended up selecting this one based on it was a cooker/steamer. On the first try the rice was PERFECT! Rinse rice as specified. Go light on the water for sticky rice and add a little more water for fluffier rice. The next morning I used the left over rice in the steamer capacity to make the rice pudding recipe included with the cooker. There was no left over rice pudding. The already cooked rice with the milk/eggs/vanilla had a beautiful custard like quality. I did not have a problem with the brown rice water/rice ratio. The warmer function served me well as the rice was kept warm until everyone was ready to dine! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS rice cooker/steamer for the cook that demands the best versatility from their appliances.

This is an upgrade of a smaller capacity Zojirushi I bought through Amazon a year or two ago. I loved it, and the only reason I am replacing it is that my brother loved it as well. Since we have a family of six and eat rice every day, I figured I would just buy a bigger one and give him the smaller. He is happy, I am happy. My husband is Thai, so we cook only Jasmine rice. To make Jasmine, I use the ratio of one provided cup full of rice to one and a quarter provided cup of water, and it comes up perfect. Definitely rinse your rice, otherwise you will have white stuff spitting everywhere. Also, when the rice is finished cooking and it clicks over to warm, make sure to stir the rice first, otherwise it will brown a bit on the bottom. I have made brown rice as per the directions and it was great, though I discovered I prefer mine a little undercooked. I cannot fault this machine at all, it is a breeze to clean, doesn't take up an inordinate amount of space on my counter, and lets me get everything else done without having to risk a burnt pot on the stove. I see no need to spend more money on the fancier rice cookers with AI or fuzzy logic or whatever it is, and the price here for a basic rice cooker is even cheaper than our local Asian market for similar products. I recommend it to people all the time, and if you are like me and feel that a pot on the stove works just as well, upgrade. I still use the pot on the stove for browned rice, but if you mostly eat just plain rice like we do, you will not regret the purchase.

The Roti models are not made with a three-ply construction with an aluminum core and magnetic stainless exterior. The Roti models are made in China (not America like the rest of the All Clad pots and pans) out of a non-magnetized stainless steel. They're not designed for use on induction or conventional stove tops (a common step in the preparation of gravy).

A curiousity: The All Clad Web site doesn't appear to list the Roti models. I couldn't find it under any category. This model is an orphan.

Unfortunately I bought one of these pans because I read this expensive roaster was a tri-ply. It is not and if you put it in a hot oven it warps like crazy. Once I realized that this was not the All-Clad that I was used to I contacted All-Clad. I have an entire kitchen full of All-Clad and they told me to stuff it. So that will be the last "All-Clad" I will ever purchase. There are many alternatives which are multi-ply at a considerably lower cost. As All-Clad does not stand behind their merchandise there is hardly any benefit in buying their products. Read the Cook's Magazine review about this pan if you have any doubts.

Best Deals for All-Clad Stainless Roasting Pan with Rack and Turkey Forks

The following is copied from a review found in Cooks Illustrated Equipment Corner:

During our 1999 rating of roasting pans, we decided that the upright handles, roomy interior, and sturdiness of All-Clad's Stainless Steel Roti ($275) justified its hefty price. Since then, however, we've noticed that our top-rated pan has a tendency to warp slightly on the stovetop while browning roasts or deglazing fond. (The Roti lacks the clad construction-an aluminum core sandwiched between layers of steel-that makes other All-Clad cookware so reliable.) So when we saw that Calphalon's fully clad Contemporary Stainless Roasting Pan features a similar design-and for a mere $100-we brought it in for the challenge.

To our delight, the Calphalon did not warp on the stovetop, and its lighter weight made it more responsive to burner adjustments than the All-Clad pan. This new Calphalon roasting pan has everything we want, including a reasonable price.

UPDATE: Our July/August Roasting Pan Update highlights Calphalon's Contemporary Stainless Roasting Pan ($100). In the past, this pan has been part of their Tri-Ply stainless line. Until the Tri-Ply Stainless inventory has run out, look for our favorite roaster under either of those Calphalon lines.

Honest reviews on All-Clad Stainless Roasting Pan with Rack and Turkey Forks

I recently checked out the All-Clad roaster at Bed Bath & Beyond and decided against it. Three design flaws turned me away from it:

1) It's not tri-ply, only stainless steel.

2) It can't be used on an induction range (I don't own an induction range, but I like to plan for the future).

3) It's not flat on the bottom (raised center), so it will be difficult to use to make gravy.

After a little research, I bought the Mauviel M'cook 1830 large roasting pan. It's slightly smaller than the large All-Clad, but it has five-ply construction, can be used on any range and is completely flat on the bottom. It's a beautiful piece of cookware with a lifetime warranty. Plus it's made in France, not China (like the All-Clad).

I bought mine from and it came with a rack included for $200.

I shouldn't have assumed that this would be cladded. How can a company like All Clad produce a $160 roasting pan without a sandwiched layer of aluminum to distribute the heat evenly. This is worthless for pan gravy! It is nothing more than a handled serving tray as far as I'm concerned, I am better off with an $30 aluminum roasting pan from a restaurant supply store. What an overrated piece of junk, for the price there is much better out there... I am disgusted by the arrogance of All Clad peddling this garbage!

First off, this is a carbon steel wok so you do have to season it and keep it seasoned. I like that because I think it adds more traditional flavor to the food. The wok is very durable; I baked it in the oven for almost 10 minutes and the wood handles were still OK. =) The only thing that seems a little flimsy is the wok cover but it's still OK. I use my wok everyday and I cook almost everything in it I steam, fry, boil.. I've even made steamed desserts in it (Malaysian recipe). Love it!

I like this set. The wok is pretty standard, which is a good thing, and the set includes a nice compliment of pieces.

The most important part is the wok itself, and it is a good quality carbon steel wok that should last many years.

The cook book is a joke, but everything else is ok. The quality of the ladle and spatula isn't that great, but they are certainly usable. When you figure in what you will spend for a decent carbon steel wok and lid, you are basically getting the other items for free. I will probably wind up replacing them at some point but it's nice to have them now.

Best Deals for Norpro 10-Piece Wok Set

This wok set is great for a beginner or experienced cook. It is easy to use and to clean. Well made and durable. Areal pleasure to use. I will probably buy more as gifts for friends and family who love to cook. The price on Amazon was great (a real buy)

Honest reviews on Norpro 10-Piece Wok Set

Good deal on this. The wok is great when taken care of, the rest of the pieces are usable but flimsy.

I got this set over 10 years ago from a friend who'd received it and never used it. First thing outta the box I used it, washed it and it showed signs of rusting.

Well duh, it's "carbon steel" not stainless steel. I have a nice carbon steel chefs knife that'll do the same thing if not treated correctly.

Remembering my time working as a busboy in a Chinese restaurant, I always noticed that the woks the chefs used were heavily blackened and seasoned and the chefs themselves were the only ones to wash them with boiling water over high flame. Problem solved.

It needs to be seasoned like all carbon steel and iron cookware does. So I scoured it out really good (yes it was scratched up a bit in the process but for this procedure that doesn't matter) then proceeded to give it a nice coat of shortening and stuck it on top of a hot charcoal grill (being sure to remove the wooden handles) until it was nice and cooked on to a brown/black patina. The result? An almost ceramic-like nonstick coating. Browns nicely and handles the highest heat my old stovetop can muster. Wash it out with a plastic scrubby using only water or just paper towels, dry immediately by hand and give it little coating of food-grade mineral oil. Treat it the same as an iron skillet and it should last a lifetime. No more rust problems here. We use it for most stir-fry but found it quite adept at deep frying all sorts of goodies.

I know most people won't understand (or care to bother) with this process since it requires some care, but for those of you who actually enjoy learning and cooking in new ways with new tools rather than just looking cool in the kitchen with the latest gadget, I hope this sill point you in the right direction.

Since I received this wok I used it a couple of times and I am really happy of this choice. The only thing to be careful it's the wok needs to be cleaned quickly in order not to damage too much the surface.

This is not my first Le Creuset pot (by a large margin), but it is my first in the new Signature series. Of course it is beautiful, durable, well made, and all that. But the most important thing is how wonderfully these French pots work. I have made the same dishes in stainless steel and other materials, and they are just not at all the same as when I use Le Creuset enamelled cast iron.

The very slightly different look is lovely and the new knobs are much nicer, so kudos for that LC.

This 9qt is a great size. I didn't have anything between my 6.75qt and my 13.25qt so I just had to bite the bullet and get this one. No more using stainless steel stock pots (not that there is anything wrong with stainless steel for boiling potatoes or pasta) when I need an 8-9qt size for braising or oven-simmering!

I think that Le Creuset pots are the best out there and their warranty can't be beat.

This cookware is expensive but it will outlast you and your grandchildren. Porcelain coated cast iron gives you the best of both worlds. It's practically non-stick and heats very evenly while using less energy.

You won't be disappointed. :-)

Honest reviews on Le Creuset Signature Enameled Cast-Iron 9-Quart Round French Oven

I have been buying Le Creuset pieces for my wife over the years and we already had the 2.5 quart dutch oven. She had requested a larger dutch oven and was stuck with whether to buy the 7 quart or the 9 quart. I ended up buying the 9 and I am really glad I did. It was a significant jump from 2.5 qt but not as huge as the available 13 qt. Perfect size for those larger dishes. Highly recommended.

Buy Michael Graves DesignTM Fondue Set

Michael Graves DesignTM Fondue Set
Customer Ratings: 3 stars

I recieved this as a wedding gift several years ago, and had not attempted to use this item since then. Upon opening the box the week prior to New Year's I discovered there were no instructions. Having zero fondue experience I wanted to obtain these. I assumed that I would be able to locate them on the web, but couldn't. Per other users suggestions, I emailed a representative at Michael Graves to assist me. They did send the directions via email, however it was after New Year's and I was forced to purchase a set with instructions for the party. I will post a following of the instructions that Michael Graves sent me:

1) Place fondue set on a heat-resistant, level tabletop or other sturdy, flat surface.

2) Place canned fuel in stand before lighting in center with a match.

3) For best results, prepare the fondue in the fondue pot on the stove top on low heat, then carefully transfer pot to the stand with the burner lit.

4) Make sure pot fits securely on the stand.

5) When completely cool, remove the fondue pot from the stand.

6) Remove all contents from pot and rinse.

7) Wash pot and splash guard by hand, using warm, soapy water.

8) Fondue forks are dishwasher safe.

9) Wipe cooled stand with a damp cloth, or wash in hot, soapy water if needed and dry thoroughly.

!! CAUTION: !!

This fondue set is designer to use canned cooking fuel, as a heat source. Do not use liquid fuel. Use pot holders to transfer hot fondue pot to lit burner. Make sure the canned heat isn't too high before transferring pot. Keep fondue set out of the reach of children and always store burner in a childe safe place. Never eat directly off of the fondue fork. Always use your fondue set in a well-ventilated area.

In addition, the Michael Graves fondue set was designed to use a canned fuel burner, "canned heat", one of the most well known brands is "Sterno". This canned fuel should be readily available at your local hardware, camping, or catering supply store. The proper size is the 2 hour, 2.6 OZ., (about 2 inches in diameter with a green label) can. If making a cheese or chocolate fondue use 1-2 tea light candles. This lower amount of heat will keep your ingredients from scorching.

Hopefully this will help the next person with this dilemma.

I received this fondue pot as a Christmas gift, only to be disappointed to find that it did not come with ANY instructions.... nothing that tells you how to put it together, what fuel to use, etc. Also, there were no recipes, and no fuel pot. I went back to Target to look at the ones they had there, and they also did not have the above mentioned items. I also could not find any fuel or fuel pots sold for this item. Without instructions, I would have no idea how to use it, so I will be returning it. I bought another fondue pot instead.

Best Deals for Michael Graves DesignTM Fondue Set

I love fondue parties and own multiple fondue pots. The biggest fault with the Graves set is the abscence of a burner set. I like using the Graves set because it looks so nice and I like the revolving serving dishes(although small). When I use it though I actually use a burner cover from another set. You can not just use an open can of Sterno or the like because you can not modulate the heat. Even with the proper heat I usually reserve this set for broth or oil fondues as cheese or chocolate are hard to clean. I would only reccomend cheese or chocolate to a fondue pot that is a double boiler. Williams & Sonoma has a great set. Even with moderated heat, hot spots are hard to avoid on the Graves set burning cheese or chocolate. If you take these things into consideration and can get other fondue accesories I would not hesitiate buying this set as it is very stylish.

Honest reviews on Michael Graves DesignTM Fondue Set

While fondue is very easy, "fill-dip-eat" are not the only instructions. LA forgot about "heat". I see this is where most of the disgruntled comments are coming in. Add mine. Even the sales clerk at my local Target store couldn't figure out what to sell me for this product, and if she couldn't figure it out, then why would you figure we end-consumers could? Most products suggest specific accessories to use so as to not harm the finish or damage the product itself. I'm not willing to take the chance on using the wrong heating source, so have followed the advice to email Wilton for help. My advice to Target is to sell the heating source right next to the fondue set. THAT would be the pracical and easy solution to this problem that is making us all so frustrated. Target gets more sales revenue. We don't have to get frustrated with gifts that we can't use immediately. As for me, I already know I will truly enjoy this product once I find the correct heat source to use. I cannot rank it high, though. The product might be great, but a consumer service help-line (or simple written instructions)is surely needed.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Michael Graves DesignTM Fondue Set

It may not take a rocket scientist to figure out how to use this fondue set, but a few, simple instructions would have been nice. I registered for another fondue set....which came with instructions....on my bridal registry at Target. I was excited to see that someone had upgraded my gift to the Michael Graves set, but was very frustrated when I found no instructions. I've dined at fondue restaraunts, but never prepared it myself, and would have appreciated a few, simple instructions. My husband went to the Michael Graves website and emailed them about the problem. They were quick to respond, and mailed us a set of instructions. :)

We had originally ordered a smaller version of this item and were very pleased. But, it was not large enough for creating dishes for company. This size is just fine and heats up well on the larger, standard burner on a home range. I am not sure I would want to try a larger one unless I had special burners.

Clean up has been easier than I thought, too.

It does what it is supposed to do just like most other such pans. No reason not to like it.

Honest reviews on 12" COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM FRY FRYING PAN - NSF GRADE

First aluminum frying pan I've bought online, if I'd seen this in a store I would not have bought this one.

The pan I received had a rougher interior than I am used to--the "spin" marks from machining the aluminum were very pronounced. I haven't seen them this rough on aluminum pans that are in stores. Now I know to buy a pan only with "mirror finish" interior that has been polished smooth; they don't cost that much more.

The bottom of the pan was not flat--placing it on a flat glass/ceramic cooktop, it would "rock" which isn't very useful for getting the pan to heat evenly. I gave it away to someone with gas burners where a flat bottom isn't as critical. Other aluminum frying pans I've bought from stores were flat-bottomed.

I like aluminum pans because they spread the heat more evenly. I bought this one for making large tortillas, and it works fine for that. It is NOT nonstick, so if you are needing something to fry eggs or the like, this in not the pan. However, if you need a pan for lite sauteing or making sauces, this works quite nicely.

This can _only_ be mounted (attached) to the wall, contrary to what the Features say: "Can be mounted on a ceiling, under a counter or on a wall". It would be very difficult to attach it to a vertical surface and also flush against a fixed upper horizontal surface (e.g. against the ceiling or against the counter bottom) due to the close proximity of the upper mounting hole to the top of the rack. The distance between the top of a drill and the center of the drill bit is larger and will limit how close the rack can be mounted to the horizontal surface.

That may be why the picture shows a non-fixed upper horizontal surface (shelf) that could be added after the rack is mounted to the wall.

With that said, the unit is sturdy and clean looking. I'll be replacing the supplied wall anchors with more robust connectors. Three stars due to the anchors and misleading (to me at least) description.

I bought this covered casserole because I have other Revol products that I really enjoy using. I have used this casserole to braise meats and was extremely satisfied with the results. I think the tight fitting lid was the key. It was also very easy to clean because of the glazed finish. This casserole can also be used on a gas stovetop like a tagine but I haven't tried that yet. I did notice the base had a special finish, I think for induction cooking. It's very durable and heavy and I love using it. With proper care it will last forever. It's also lead and cadmium free so I definitely recommend it.

I ordered this wire wok ring. The wire was broken in two places, and very poorly made.I was very disapointed with it.My husband said he could try to fix it, but I said it's not worth it, nor wasting my time sending it back.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I'd been wanting one of these for ages, so was eager to try it out on the stove but it was a disappointment in the end. It slides around a lot, so never feels particularly safe (although I guess to be fair this has as much to do with the stove as anything; others may have better luck with that aspect), and raises the wok too high above the flame for my purposes. I've found it's easier to balance the wok on the burner, and to use the wok ring as a stand on the table for which purpose it works perfectly!

Best Deals for Joyce Chen 31-0063, Chrome Steel Wire Wok Ring

I bought this wire style Wok ring because we have a high end restaurant quality gas range with 18,000 BTU burners, and the more typical sheet metal Wok Rings get red hot and deform when cooking at high temps with our various Woks. This ring looked in the photo to be what we were looking for and Joyce Chen stuff tends to make good products, but on receiving it were disappointed to discover that the ring was poorly made and was also much shorter in height than other Wok rings. I assumed based on the selling price that this would be a high quality product, but instead the wire was not spot welded at the joint and didn't match up to the other end making the ring not sit flat so it wobbled when placed on the stove grate.

In the end we returned this to Amazon for a refund and bought a much higher quality wire Wok ring from The Wok Shop in San Francisco for only $2.95 plus shipping! (Just type the name of the shop into Google for a link)

So... Save you money on this junk and buy what we ended up buying instead!

Honest reviews on Joyce Chen 31-0063, Chrome Steel Wire Wok Ring

Solid construction. Plenty of airflow for gas burner and heat rising up the sides of a wok.

The distance between the bottom of your wok and the burner will depend on the curvature of your wok. So, it may or may not be the proper diameter/height depending on the curvature of your wok and how high your burner sits.

On my Heartland range, I remove the grate and put this ring directly on the part of the cooktop that contains spills and boiled over liquids. As a result, the ring is very steady and the bottom of my wok sits just a fraction of an inch from the inner flame of my burner; the positioning is perfect!

I've tried other rings and none of them worked. Basically, all the others are short, solid aluminum or steel chimneys with a few holes for air circulation. But, this chimney style of wok is for electric ranges, not gas. They don't provide for enough oxygen for my high-BTU burner. And, the heat is trapped in within the chimney so it doesn't lap up the sides of the wok. The bottom center of the wok gets warm/hot but the rest stays cold.

If you want a wok ring for a gas range, you must get a wire one like this. And the only wire ring I can find is this brand, Joyce Chen.

I bought this Wok Ring in spite of some bad comments made regarding its stability and durability. Well maybe I am just lucky but I have had neither problem with mine. The connections are solid, the metal firm, and the base stable with a wok on it (just so I don't get too TV-chef crazy with it). Definitely a must-have if you're using a wok over a gas stove.

Had the whole family over for Christmas Eve. Placed food in crock pots, when finished changed to warmer. Kept me out of the kitchen and able to enjoy the festivities.

This is one of 2 items I have purchased from Amazon that is of poor quality in nearly 10 years of shopping. I was looking forward to it so I could prepare multiple healthy meals on the weekend for a busy work week.

The metal finish of the base unit was dull and easily marked. The black portion of the unit also was very cheap appearing and easily marked. There are no lights on the unit to tell if a pot is off or on.You plug it in and adjust the dials. You could easily get burned.

The pot and lids were fine but the base really takes away from the product. The unit is also quite lengthy. It takes up alot of counterspace. It easily could have been more compact. Also, the cord had a sticky white substance stuck to it that took nearly 30 minutes to peel off in little pieces, YUK!

It is too heavy and bulky to return.

I will try it but most likely it will go to a good cause. Next time I will pay more attention to the brand name.

Good job Amazon got it with in two working days. The 2nd one was great I have used many times and love it. Mostly use if for keeping things worm when I don't have time to make dinner. Now, I didn't expect a whole lot from these. 40 bucks for 3 relatively large stock pots (especially because they are stainless)? So, that being said...

They are VERY lightweight. They come pre-dinged as there probably is no way to pack them adequately to protect the lightweight stainless from being dented in transit. The sizes are nice--the largest one is plenty big to do all sorts of things from huge batches of chicken stock (I had 4 pounds of chicken wings in there cooking down to a nice stock the other day, with room to spare) and the medium and smaller sizes are no slouches, either. They are light enough to move around easily enough, too.

But--the downside of a lightweight pan/stock pot--it scorches easily. I have an Electrolux dual fuel range with simmer modes to ultra high power burners. Even with the intricate levels that I have to work with, I still had to be careful not to scorch the bottom of the pots. The heat conduction isn't the broadest (it can't be, given how they are made), so be very careful with this. Stir constantly, and keep a good eye on things even while simmering. Of course, even though they come pre-dinged, they are easy to dent further, but that's par for the course with such lightweight pans.

If I used stock pots often, I'd bypass these. They are simply too lightweight to last long. Invest in better quality stock pots. But if you are just looking for back ups or for the odd job here and there, these should be fine, as long as you are cognizant of their weaknesses.

They do clean up nicely. I handwashed them each time I used them, and they had no issues with sticking (even the scorched bottom of the one).

Note: I've given these pots and these http://www.amazon.com/Heuck-36003-Piece-Stainless-Steel/dp/B000QRCM8A/ref=cm_cr-mr-title pretty much the same review, though these were *slighly* slower to rust with brine.

These are cheap pots. At this price point, I wouldn't expect anything else. I bought them primarily for cheese making, when I'd be using them double-boiler style, so no risk of scorching, and the flimsiness is not an issue (as long as the handles don't break off). They worked fine for that, but the moment I tried to make a brine, the smallest pot began to rust--before the salt even finished dissolving. I'd like the flexibility of being able to brine a large bird or cure a ham in one of the large pots, but that's definitely out of the question.

I'm leaving them with 3 stars because they're so cheap and they're still serviceable for many uses. If you want these exclusively for cheese making (probably not direct heating, though), brewing, deep fat frying, boiling (crawfish, pasta, corn, etc), stocks or stock-based soups (not starchy or cream soups), these will get you by. I wouldn't recommend them for heavy soups,, sauces, or anything prone to scorching.

As to the capacity, they hold EXACTLY the stated amount, filled to the brim, so practically speaking, you need o go a size up (use a 4-gallon pot for a 3-gallon batch of soup), but this will generally be true of any pot.

These pots are an excellent value. However, if you purchased these expecting top quality, heavy duty stainless steel, you are in for a big disappointment. The steel is actually quite thin and is easily dented, so care must be taken when handling them.

That said, these are very nice pots. They are fairly accurate as to their capacity, they have well-fitting lids, and they are good for basic use. I have made soups, stews and chili in the 8 quart, and 12 quart pots. I have yet to use the largest. They are lightweight, and they are easy to clean. The handles are securely riveted. I am very happy with this purchase even though I don't expect these pans to last the four decades that my heavy duty stainless steel pots have endured, I am sure I will get many years of use from them.

If you make large pots of sauce and chilli like I do then these pots are what you would want. They also stack nicely when you want to put them in the cupboard. They clean up easily and they work well.

Nice product and great price.

I am impressed by the quality of this pot rack. It's very sturdy, reasonably priced, and nice looking. I could have used a couple of extra hooks (there were only 4) and probably should have ordered the next size up (got the small one). But overall I am very pleased with this pot rack! Storage for pots and pans is scarce in my kitchen so this solved my dilemma perfectly! I hung it right next to my stove so it's also very convenient.
