I just added this knife to my Wusthof collection. I arrived extremely sharp, and is nice for semi-fine work. Activities like dicing shallots, which are too small for a large 8 inch knife and to big for a paring knife, are nice with this knife. Be careful though, the tip of the blade is quite thin, and will not stand up to abuse.

My old favorite for almost 30 years was the 6" chef's knife until this one moved in a year ago.

One reviewer opined that the 4" and 8" blades take care of either end of the spectrum, so who needs this knife? Me. Think of it as a broad spectrum knife! I use it and skip the 4" and 8" knives. Even though the other knives are available, this is the one I go for most of the time. I also prefer it to our beautiful Santoku knife.

Another reviewer thought it too expensive. Well, not when it's my favorite knife! It's a comfortable and capable tool, with an edge that won't quit. The shape, length and weight of this slightly slimmer blade as well as the overall balance in my hand are perfect for me.

Best Deals for Wusthof Classic 6-Inch Sandwich Knife

There are really two main competitors in the high-end mainstream kitchen knife market: Henckels and Wusthof. Those who have used both usually have a preference. My preference (and therefore bias you should know about) is for the Wusthofs.

The Wusthof Classic line is the more conservative counterpart to the Grand Prix line. The only difference, however, is the handle style. I personally prefer the Grand Prix, but this is an issue of personal preference. The balance and grip of these knives are as close to perfect as I have found. For those wondering what benefits a higher priced knife provides, one benefit is that the blade (or tang) is one piece all the way through the handle. This makes the blade much stronger, and less likely to snap.

This particular model is the 6 inch sandwich knife. I don't find this knife to be particularly useful in everyday usage. The 8 inch chef's knife, or 4 ½ inch utility knife work just fine for jobs on either end of the spectrum. Do you really need this expensive of a knife to cut baloney? I don't.

Don't get me wrong; this is a good high quality knife. However, for the mainstream chef, I think its usage will be minimal, and thus it is overkill.

Honest reviews on Wusthof Classic 6-Inch Sandwich Knife

My most used knife in the kitchen in my Wusthof 4" paring knife. The next most used knife is my Wusthof 6 3/8" Sandwich knife. This knife stays incredably sharp. It's blade is thinner than most other knives in its size, including the Henkle. The blade taper starts almost from the very edge. These two factors helps it slice through what you are cutting easier that thicker knives. I have found the blade thickness to be a very big factor when cutting. I have Henkle knives also, but they do not hold their edge anywhere as long as my Wuthof knives. My teenage kids refer to this Wusthof knife as the "death knife" because it is always so sharp, and scarry to them. I use it for cutting bread (works better than a serrated knife), vegtables, mellons, and carving meats. The only use I have for my 8" knife is lettuce and carving turkeys. I get much more use out of this 6" knife. I never use my knives as a screew driver or to pry anything, so the thinness is not a problem. Wusthof knives last a life time and are worth every cent you pay for them.

I bought this knife for my dad a few weeks ago (for fathers' day). He uses it almost exclusively in place of his older knives now! The 6-inch design is a perfect length for almost any job, too.

When I was researching, a good number of people said that it was not multi-functional enough to be worth the price. I found that the knife definitely has some things it does better than others, but it still does a fine job cutting vegetables; the taller blade does optimize it for sandwiches and such, but does great with many utility knife jobs.

I have bought this product however after 3 weeks of usage, the base has been peeled off. so I believe paying a higher price to a durable product makes more sense.

I was looking for a 12" skillet, not for chicken-frying, but for those "meals in a bag" that I occasionally cook as weekday dinners. This fryer is perfect for that purpose. It is exactly the right size (no spillage of food over the edges, and the lid fits snugly over the food). As long as you prespray with cooking spray or use cooking oil, it is exceptionally nonstick, and cleanup is fast and easy. Oh, and it also works well as a chicken fryer.

It is light and easy to handle. Mine seems to be very sturdy, and I've used it several times a week for nearly six months. For the price, you really can't beat this.

Would not recommend for everyday use. Will most likely need to replace this pan within a year. The handle feels like it will loosen quickly.

This is not a chicken fryer. It is something that should used to collect oil under your car! The quality is inferior to T-Fal or Tools of the Trade. Do not waste your money on this product.

Rachael Ray Stoneware 4-1/4-Quart Covered Bubble and Brown Casseroval Casserole, Red

I purchased this via Amazon's 4 for 3 promotion. Along with the Lasagna lovers, bubble and brown set, and casserole.

The quality is excellent. It has good weight and color hues. It holds more than a "family" size meal. It is also easy to handle, in terms of portability. I love the handles, they really are potholder size. I think this may be a bit much for a small family. It is just simply gigantic. So modify your recipes accordingly. Or by the smaller size of this casserole. I think this will make 5 cornish hens. Or 2 large whole chickens. Or a ton of stew. Or an army amount of au gratin. In my opinion this is for a family size of 6 or better.

I would say conserve the lid life, and use foil to cover. Then replace lid, during serving.

Overall this is an excellent buy. Especially when it will be your FREE item, when combining it with the 3 other items.

This also can double as a mega fruit server. Or for Thanksgiving size cobblers, just don't forget to add wafers or lady finders, or pre-baked crust to make this a 4 layer cobbler.

It really is a great all-purpose baker.

Easy to clean great for anything from pasta to baked dishes. I was amazed at how easy it is to clean. MAn I tell you what I know how to put some stains on my dishes with you know that black stuff we all dread to clean and well I let is soak 30 min in warm dish soap and water and it came right off no scrubbing it was great! I love it wish I had 10 more just like it!

I've always wanted to get a Rachel Ray item and until recently she only had orange items, so I was very excited to see this red casseroval with AMAZON FREE SHIPPING!!!

First off, I didn't read the item description well, saw that it said "from stove to table" and stopped reading.

When I got the casseroval, I was so excited I opened the box, washed it, turned the stove on medium/high, and put pork chops on. Within 5 minutes, I heard a crack. The entire bottom was cracked into 4 large pieces. After cleaning up the mess and putting out a small fire (literally), I opened the instructions... first words in big black bold lettering: "DO NOT USE ON STOVETOP!!!" ... my $40 lesson learned.

Aside from that horrible lesson, I LOVED it for the 5 minutes that I took it out of the box, washed it, and put it onto the stove. The handles are large, it's not as heavy as a cast iron (which is stove to oven to table), and is a great size for a family of 4. You are to fit about 8 good sized pork chops into it (double layered) to put into the oven.

I must say that I even loved it enough that I will probably order another one, and this time, will be using IN THE STOVE and TO THE TABLE :) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This casserole pot cracked after the second use. I wouldn't recommend baking anything with a lot of liquid, you could have an oven full and a major mess.

Got this along with other beautiful orange Rachel Ray cookware from my daughter for Christmas.. I used this beautiful pot when I heard this loud crack and the pot came apart in two sections. It was absolutely beautiful, wonderful size and I loved it. They are replacing it but after seeing several other reviews that were the same I am going to be really nervous about using it. Hopefully Rachel Ray will try and fix this problem.

La Crueset enameled cast iron pots are expensive, but durable and nonstick. This pot looks beautiful, and a few of my friends have admired it. I've used it half a dozen times with excellent results. Crucial to success is familiarity with cast iron heat control. Heat the pot first at medium, not higher. Put your oil or butter and wait till it's hot, then put whatever you're cooking. Stir only with nonmetal implements, not to scratch the enamel. After adding braising or stewing liquid, be it soup, wine or tomatoe sauce, you can raise the heat above medium. Once it boils, lower the heat to low and braise. The results are excellent and predictable. I haven't been disappointed once. This is my second La Crueset pot. Once again, heat control is key to enjoying these pots. It's different from the regular pots and pans in that regard.

I couldn't live without this dutch oven. I use it almost everyday and for almost everything I cook: soups, casseroles, stews, braising large cuts of meat. Even if I'm cooking a smaller amount of something that doesn't necessarily require such a large size pot it is wonderful because it allows for experimentation and adding additional ingredients without worrying about having to change to a larger pot. Recently I was making bread and broke my clay Romertof and used the Le Creuset to bake the bread. It was the best loaf I've ever baked, perhaps because the heavy lid seals so well. Just be sure to change out to the higher temp lid knob for high-heat oven use. The only drawback, as another reviewer mentioned, is that the diameter is larger than most stove top burners and that causes crowding on the stove top with other pots. However, you won't have a heat distribution problem with the Le Crueset, even if the bottom extends farther than the ring of the range burner, provided you bring the pot up to temp slowly, and as recommended.

Where do I start, maybe the price, got such a deal on a "used" Le Creuset. The oven was brand new, except the box was a little bent but who cares about the box! Saved almost 50% off the "new" price.

Cooked with it the first day we received it, the braised oxtail browned perfectly and braised for 4 hours. Yummy.

Already thinking of other dishes to make with the new French oven.

A bit on the heavy side but this will last forever if we take care of it. Thank goodness I have a farmer's sink so there is no problem fitting in the sink.

Will always look at the "used" items now before paying full price.

Honest reviews on Le Creuset Signature Enameled Cast-Iron 13-1/4-Quart Round French

Le Creuset is amazing (I have four of these) but make sure you know how big this thing is. ITS HUGE! We have a conventional cooktop and this guy just barely fits on the cooktop with smaller pans around it.

I have wanted a Magnalite Roaster for a very long time. When I searched the internet for the roaster, I located one at Amazon and at a reasonable price. When I received the roaster I was very dissatisfied with the product. The Oval Cover is out of round and their is no way that it will form a seal with the roaster. Their are gaps between the cover and roaster and the cover wobbles when it sits on top of the roaster. I know other people that have had this product for many years, and are very happy with it. I guess that either Magnalite is no longer manfucatured to the same standards as in the past or they do not perform a quality check after production and before shipping.

I have used this kind of roaster for the holidays over the years and love them. It keeps the Turkey so moist and cooks very even.

The problem I have with this new one is it is made in China not the USA like my other one. The new one is not as heavy and the quality of workmanship not up to par. I never found it on the internet as a recalled item so I kept it but still am not really confortable with products made in CHINA because of the lead content in allot of their products.

Best Deals for Magnalite Classic 18-Inch Oval Covered Roaster

My first set of cookware was Magnalite and both my Mom and Grandmother owned Magnalite. This aint your usual Magnalite. It arrived warped and scratched up and was shipped in it's own box with no packing materials. It also appeared to be a return because the box had been opened and retaped shut. Not to be anti China but that's where this was maufactured. I will try to buy this made somewhere else because it looks to be a cheap immitation of the real thing.

Honest reviews on Magnalite Classic 18-Inch Oval Covered Roaster

I have used Magnalite in the past with great success. I can't help but wonder if the folks who purchased the faulty products and poorly packaged products listed here purchased them from Amazon directly or from the "new and used" page which are from private sources. I have purchased from Amazon for many, many years directly and have NEVER had a problem with anything. So please take this into consideration when reading these reviews or contemplating a purchase.

I am originally from South Louisiana and was raised with magnalite cookware, my grandmothers, my aunts, my Mother everyone used only magnalite. I was lucky to inherit a couple of pieces but was determined to build up my own magnalite collection. Over the years I have been doing just that. There is no better cookware on the market. I have strayed and tried others but they end up being given away or thrown away and my magnalite is always there waiting to cook a superb meal. This roaster was one that took me a while to get, it is expensive but I knew it would be worth it and man oh man this thing is wonderful.

I cook a giant beef brisket in this roaster that is just so tender and juicy with a gravy that is fabulous, a turkey turns out beautiful and moist, in the summer I buy bushels of fresh okra, chop it and cook it down in this roaster with onions and tomato, bag it in ziplock bags and put it in the freezer, I have my okra for my gumbos all ready to go. And speaking of gumbo if you need to make a giant batch of gumbo this roaster will cover that task too! I use in on the stove and in the oven.

I never had a problem cleaning any of my magnalite pots, I do not put them in the dishwasher, I put a little dishwashing soap in them and some warm water let it soak a bit then use either a brillo pad or a teflon scrubber pad on them, it cleans amazingly easily. They will discolor inside over time but it has no effect on the cooking.

So many Cajun cooks lost their collections in Katrina and Rita, very sad because these were magnalite sets that had been handed down for generations! We are starting over and you can bet we will start over again with our magnalite!

You can not get anything better.

This braiser pot from Sitram is a very good performer. The aluminum disc bottom conducts and holds heat very well. Allows me to work at lower gas settings. The flame gets nowhere near the sides of the pot which is great because it's not fully clad. It your dish turns out lousy it won't be this pot's fault.

There may be better deals available as it's a little pricey and doesn't include the lid. It's a very solid performer in the kitchen though.

I have tried several stove top grills, so I feel qualified to comment on this one. First I bought the non-stick aluminum Nordicware grill, which worked ok till the non-stick peeled. Next I tried the LeCreuset, which was sooooo heavy, hard to clean, and began to develop rust spots. Next was the Lodge Logic, which was similar to the LeCreuset, but cheaper. (Too heavy and hard to clean.) Finally, I purchased this All-Clad Grande Grille Pan, which is the largest of the lot. It cooks evenly over two burners on my gas stove and cleans up easily with a little soaking. So far, this grill out performs any of the others and I am finally HAPPY with my purchase! (If you are a Foodie, you may notice Giada DeLaurentis using this same grill on "Everyday Italian".) If you are in the market for a quality stove-top grill, this one won't disappoint you.

It's important to realize that this grill pan won't heat up like your outdoor charcoal grill, retain heat like cast iron (le creuset or lodge), or even cook fish, chicken, and steak the same way as a gas grill. What this incredibly easy to use (both for cooking and cleaning) piece of kitchen ware is great for is finding that perfect balance for light grilling when you dont have the time or convenience to do it the old fashioned way.

I am a purist when it comes to certain cookware. Cast iron just does some things better. But cast iron isn't for everyone. It's heavy, doesn't 'clean' the way many people are comfortable with, and takes some adjustment to understand its slow cooking properties. This grill pan is great if you're looking to do the following:

1. Grill up some salmon or swordfish steaks without worrying about leaving a 'fishy' residue on that precious, seasoned grill you have

2. Tenderize and cook to near perfection some chicken you have

3. Grill vegetables with, or without olive oil (the wonders of non-stick make the pan virtually a no-fat cooking device. Think of it like a much, much higher quality non-electric george foreman grill)

What it's not so good with:

1. Strip steak

2. Hamburgers (fat tastes good, lets face it folks)

3. Slow cook BBQ (you need real charcoal or at least cast iron to cook these babies nice and slow when you don't have your own smoke house)

So bottom line:

If you're more of a meatier eater/cooker, stick with the original (and less expensive cast iron or outdoor grills). If you're into fish, veggies, and chicken, consider adding this to your arsenal of essential All-Clad supplies.

Actually, had to buy two because I had the misfortune of leaving our old one inside of the stove in our previous apartment! Well the new renters surely got a fabulous housewarming gift. This grill is easy to clean and wonderful to handle on two burners. We put one burner on medium for cooking and the other on low for keeping the finished food at the right temperature (handy when doing protein and veggies at same time). Also, if your oven is big enough, you can sear the meat on top of the stove and move it into a 450 preheated oven to panroast (the stainless handles make this a cinch). We've used Creuset as an alternative, and it's just not as easy to clean and maneuver. If you buy it on Amazon it's 99.95 plus free shipping (and whatever bonus is running--like today another $25.00 0ff with a small additional purchase in kitchenware). However, if you buy it at Williams Sonoma you can get it with shipping of 10-15 dollars but you do get garlic paste and stainless steel skewers). So you might want to see what works better for you.

Honest reviews on All-Clad 3013 Hard Anodized Aluminum Nonstick 13 by 20-Inch Double

This pan is EXACTLY what I was looking for. After buying two different brands of cast iron grill pans, I have finally found one that does the trick.

All of my pots and pans are All Clad, but I didn't want to spend the big bucks for an All Clad grill pan so I order two different cast iron pans and both of them were awful. Food sticking (even after much seasoning) and the pans were really heavy and cumbersome to use.

Then I found an incredible price on this All Clad grill pan on Amazon.com and bought it.

Should have bought it in the first place!

I just purchased this grill last week & don't know how I survived without it. It is absolutely wonderful. It fits perfectly over the 2 burners on my gas stove. I lightly seasoned with vegetable oil just before using (as recommended) and clean up has been a breeze. It easily holds 8 NY Strip steaks & could probably hold 10-12 burgers. If you like to grill inside, this is so much better than a George Foreman grill. I ordered mine from Williams Sonoma because for the same price listed here, you get free All Clad skewers (6) & a jar of roasted garlic paste marinade. Some might think it's a bit expensive, but it's something you'll only have to buy once. I felt just like Rachael Ray using mine! It's definitely a must have!

I wrote the Swiss Diamond company and asked for an explanation of what the nano-composite material was made of.

After a week or so, I received a polite reply from Allan Wolk, an employee in the U.S. His email informed me that, "Our patented nonstick surface uses a nano-composite of real diamond crystals and PTFE; it is applied using a computer controlled plasma gun at very high temperatures."

Naturally, my attention was immediately drawn to the PTFE. The acronym sounded familiar. What was PTFE?

A quick search of Wikipedia provided the answer: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PTFE)

As Wikipedia explains:

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a fluoropolymer discovered by Roy J. Plunkett (1910-1994) of DuPont in 1938. It was introduced as a commercial product in 1946 and is generally known to the public by DuPont's brand name Teflon®.

Huh? Teflon? Wait a minute. Didn't the Swiss Diamond website just claim that the product contained no Teflon?

If you look back at the Swiss Diamond website screen capture, the careful wording of their answer now becomes clear. It states, "The Swiss Diamond coating does not contain any Teflon taking into consideration that "Teflon" is a trade mark, made and owned by DUPONT."

So the pans don't contain Teflon, they just contain the chemical called Teflon. It's like saying a nuclear warhead doesn't contain any plutonium, it only contains nuclear fissionable material.

For the manufacturer to insist the Swiss Diamond pans contain no Teflon whatsoever when it is made primarily from polytetrafluoroethylene, the chemical widely known as Teflon, is extremely deceptive. In fact, the intent of the Swiss Diamond company seems to be to deceive consumers by omission of the facts. The FAQ document on the Swiss Diamond website, for example, does not bother to say something like, "But our pans do contain PTFE, the chemical known as Teflon." It simply insists they contain no Teflon and moves on to the next question.

It seems that Swiss Diamond goes out of its way to give the impression that this product is free of Teflon chemicals and is surfaced primarily with diamonds. That's the impression I got, anyway, and I read the promotional materials several times before purchasing the pan.

Consumers have been hoodwinked!!!!!!!

I like this 7-inch Swiss Diamond frying pan so much, I ordered another one!!! I also have the 8-inch size, which I was happy with, but this 7-inch size is so much better for when I want to make just an egg or two. The 8-inch size is better suited for 3-4 eggs. When using just one or two eggs, they tend to spread out in the 8-inch pan too much, but not in this smaller 7-inch size pan. It's a much better size and less expensive, too. I like the Swiss Diamond pans. Good quality, easy to clean for those of us with arthritic fingers, very non-stick--inside and out, thick bottomed, even heating with easy to hold handles. I DO NOT like the price on SD pans at all! I think it could be lower. I DO NOT like the fact that Swiss Diamond claims their pans do not have Teflon, instead using the "generic" name. Whatever name you use, it's still Teflon. Saying it isn't, is dishonest. However, so far, they have held up pretty well, so I guess I'm glad I have them. I did notice the bottom on this 7-inch size was NOT as thick as the other sizes, but it doesn't seem to affect performance, so I guess it's okay. I like them and would buy them again!

This looked like the perfect solution for replacing the previous cracked Plastic lid Handle but it may be a health hazard now. At first I did not notice anything peculiar....it was during the over night cooking of collards that I notices a mysterious red stain in a vent indention of the crock pot. This had me wondering. It was not until I cooked soup and later squash that I noticed where the red stain was coming from. Apparently the screw used to tighten the handle down is seeping a chemical or rust. You may want to avoid purchasing this item or get it yourself and look at the the screw head after a cooking session.

Fast delivery and great replacement knob. I wish it came in white though. However, this is well made and safer than the original knob/handle that came on my crock-pot.

Thank you.

Best Deals for Amico Kitchen Replacement Cookware Pot Lid Cover Knob Handle

Instead of buying a new lid I bought the replacement handle. Product arrived within the time frame posted & works beautifully. One drawback is that it is difficult to get the screw to thread into the handle. It's very small & took us 20 minutes to do. But other than that it does the job it's intended to do.

Honest reviews on Amico Kitchen Replacement Cookware Pot Lid Cover Knob Handle

The handle will work, but with the following potential issues:

1. The screw may or may not work. I was able to make it work with my Rival crockpot lid, but it took some gentle coersion to make it work.

2. There is no seal for the screw. After the first use, there was a lot of condensate that got collected between the thin metal plate and the glass lid. Also the screw rusted severely after the first use. I had to remove teh handle from the lid in order to clean all the condensed liquid from a pot of chili and make sure it was sanitary.

I tried installing it without the thin metal plate didn't work very well. So being a nerd, I filled the void area between the glass and the silver plate with high temperature silicone to seal it and keep the steam from whatever I am cooking from getting trapped in that void space and becoming a health hazard. I also took time to visit several big box hardware stores and find a stainless steel version of the screw. Now it doesn't rust.

For all the trouble I went to, I could have just fabricated a home-made version of a handle and skipped buying this.....

We used the stainless steel screw and washer from our broken knob to attach this new knob. Initially it worked well. After about 3 meals, we were surprised as we started noticing a rusty colored liquid that dripped onto our food from the knob. Turns out, it's not just the screw that rusts. My point here, which I hope is helpful, is that even if you replace the accompanying screw with one made of stainless steel, the inner threads on the knob will still rust and metallic nastiness will seep through the threads and find its way into your food. No bueno.

It's particularly good for delicate cream based soups and sauces, which burn quickly & easily on inferior cheap disk bottom stockpots. (unless you have a dedicated sous chef to stir for hours on end) Although it's true that, if all you're going to do is boil water, you can get away with a cheaper piece of cookware. But if you like to use your kitchen tools for as many tasks as possible, it is hard to go wrong with this. Made in USA, too!

Also, the pasta insert that is included with the pasta pentola version of this pot seems highly impractical. As someone who has worked in professional kitchens, a "spider" type strainer, or even a smaller chinois (conical strainer)is an easier, cheaper, and much less messy way to cook multiple batches of pasta in the same pasta stock. It will take up much less room in the dishwasher, too.

I just recieved this kettle to replace a rival hotpot. The Rival lacked an on-off switch. It also gave off some strange tastes and some say stainless is better than plastic that way.

I reheat coffee and heat canned goods in the hotpot as it's easier for me than the range and the wide opening on this hotpot allows one to clean it easily though the lid won't lift as far as you'd like.

On recieving this kettle my first thought was the base was of light gauge plastic seemed a little cheap. But I suppose that's ok if it turns out to be durable. Next I was amazed that the stainless vessel was of lighter gauge than I expected. This is probably all good though. Some reviewers of the other stainless kettles remark that they are heavy and get 'dangerously' hot. This one is actually reasonably light to maneuver. And if I boil 2 cups of water turning it off myself which is before the automatic shut off the stainless is just warm at the top; not really hot. If it doesn't wear out this is fine for my needs. Also it looks like the picture. I give it one star for the appearance of the polished stainless, but that is subjective. Have to admit though, it cleans good.

3 year later: Still works fine and I've fired it up every day 3-5 times. V Fine.

I have had this kettle for about a year, and have been very happy with it. However, a couple weeks ago I started having the problem that many other reviewers here have complained about, the on/off switch not staying on. Curious, I opened up the bottom of the kettle, and found the two wires going to the heating element had melted together, causing an intermittent short. I have reported this to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, and I hope that something will be done.

This has all the feature I wanted when I was looking for a electric pot to heat water for coffee. Its stainless steel so no plastic taste. Lid opens wide so its easy to fill and clean. No element inside the pot to interfere with cleaning the inside. It lifts off the base so that you can take it to the table. The large window shows the water level. This is our second one of this model. We had the first one for years until we broke it. The new one has a improved spout so that water pours out without spilling on the counter. I can't imagine someone buying any other model when this one has all the features you need for a heating water for coffee of tea..

This is the best I have found. I tried the Cuisinart kettle but the solvents used on the plastic parts (including inside) gave the water a terrible taste and smell. Most kettles had those plastic parts inside for the auto-shut-off mechanism but not this one (it is concealed in the cover)

It is compact and does not take much room on your counter, very quick and so far nothing negative to say about it at all.

I bought this because, let's face it, Alton Brown just rocks. He recommended it "Gear for your Kitchen". I was sick of using my regular stove top teakettle it would collect grease and dirt, requiring scouring on a regular basis. It was Murphy's Law that the kettle would whistle just when I had my hands full or was busy with something else.

This electric hot pot boils water just about as fast (I tested it myself). But it doesn't whistle and shuts itself off when it reaches a boil. AB recommended this one because of the large opening, and true to his claim, you can indeed cool the perfect hard boiled egg 6-7 at a time, actually. I love that it doesn't live on the stove where it collects grease (I've wiped the outside down twice in a year). I love that it's cordless. The only "downside" is that when I make tea, I make 2 qts at a time and the capacity on this is only 1.5 qt, so it could be just slightly larger (Oh and don't try to heat milk based things in it the clean up is horrid I tried to heat up chai in it).

This is just the perfect size pan to fry a whole chicken. It also serves very well as a wok.

So far, non stick coating is excellent. And it isn't too heavy for my arthritic wrists.

I really love this sauce pan! It is very high quality. I like using inductive cooking, so this is one of the few nice stainless steel pans that has a base allowing all types of cooking including inductive systems. Very nice cover and quick shipment!

This is a greating looking, great cooking fryer.... its deep and is able to cut my cooking time in half. Easy to clean, and does not take up a lot space. Food is juicy and taste great! This is a multi-tasking pan... its use is numerous.

Honest reviews on Circulon Contempo Stainless Steel Nonstick 12-1/2-Inch Covered Deep

I bought this to replace a older Circulon wok that we used for many, many years and as an alternative to a large stainless steel wok which is heavier and my wife does not like to use often. We later found out that if we wash it in a dishwasher, water will accumulate inside the handle since there is an opening between the wok and the handle. I think it is a design flaw or an afterthought to allow the water to drain? Anyway, it is an inconvenience and a hassle when you have to wipe out dishwashing residue coming out of the handle while you are ready to cook!

I recently bought my husband an entire set of Circulon Contempo in the hard anodized. He is the cook but I do the clean up. He loves the pans and I love the clean up. He needed a pan like this as our set did not include one and the one from the former set we had was really needing replacement. Unfortunately, it only comes in the stainless and not the hard anodized. So I decided to buy it anyway so we could get rid of the other one. He likes the pan but wishes it was a little wider at the bottom. So far I have had no issues with keeping it clean. The inside (of course) cleans up like a dream. So far the outside has not needed more than a scrubby sponge. I hope it stays that way.

I peel hundreds of pounds of potatoes every day at our restaurant, and I love my Oxo Peeler. All we make is Belgian Frites, and all we use to make them is fresh potatoes, a deep fryer, some oil, and this amazing Oxo peeler.

This is an excessive amount of use, I know, but under all this stress, only one thing has gone wrong with this peeler. Unfortunately, it's potato-eye remover has started to crack a little bit. I doubt this would happen under normal usage, but two hundred pounds of potatoes a day for a year would put stress on any peeler.

If you are a restaurant peeling potatoes by hand, as we do, buy a few because the eye remover is really useful but it wears out. This feature does make peeling faster, and wastes less potato then just peeling down past the eye. This is definitely the best peeler you can buy, and for normal household use I bet the eye remover would never wear out.

This is a sturdy peeler with swiveling twin blades and a built-in potato eye remover, which easily pares even the toughest skin of your fruits and vegetables, and carves out blemishes without damage. It produces thin rinds and peel with little or no pulp, and cuts on the first run every single time. Its blade never seems to need sharpening and its hefty body fits comfortably in the hand, making it require less force to operate than the more traditional lightweight peelers do, and keeping you away from any stress-related injuries. You can even use it to quickly julienne vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, and potatoes, among others.

Like the rest of the products from the OXO Good Grips line, this one is a great value of superior quality, unsurpassed durability and flawless performance. Its ergonomic design and big, pressure-absorbing, outstanding non-slip grip, complete with flexible fins to accommodate your fingers and an oversized hole for easy hanging, allow you comfortable, daily, wet or dry use.

Its elegant, stylized shape fits seamlessly with the rest of the OXO Good Grips collection. Its easy-to-clean, simple construction and dishwasher-safe, hard-wearing materials make this essential tool one that you will be able to depend on for years, and its stainless-steel metal parts will permanently keep your rust worries away.

After submitting this product to over two years of relentless, everyday use, mine is still just like new.

Best Deals for OXO Good Grips Swivel Peeler

I purchased the OXO Good Grips Peeler back in 2000 and I have been using it ever since with no problems whatsoever. I originally bought it to replace the peeler that came in my Culinary School tool kit. That peeler had broken after only a month of use. But I have used the OXO peeler ever since, going on 5 years now. It feels great in my hands and peels potatoes, carrots and other vegetables perfectly. While I was in school my classmates were constantly borrowing this from me and asking me where I bought it. Even one of my Chef instructors loved it and would use it from time to time. If this peeler were to ever break on me, which it has shown no signs of doing, I would not hesitate to buy another OXO.

Honest reviews on OXO Good Grips Swivel Peeler

After my 8+ year old OXO Peeler started getting a little dull I thought it would be just a matter of ordering another OXO Good Grip Peeler and it would be the same. I thought wrong, after 3 New OXO Peelers in the last 3 weeks including the Pro-Line these new OXO peelers will barely peel Warm butter much less a Broccoli stalk or stem. I can see 1 being dull but not 3, there is a serious breakdown in the Quality Control Division at OXO. All the places that have sold or given me replacement peelers have had great customer service it's just the sorry product that's the problem. OXO had my 'Brand Loyalty', now it has completely lost it. I took a magnifying glass and compared my old OXO to ALL 3 new OXO Peelers and the angle that the blade is cut is the difference. The old OXO is cut at an angle where as all three new OXO Peelers the blade is cut straight across whereby there is no way it can dig into the skin of a broccoli stem or even a carrot. I tried one last peeler via Amazon made by J. A. Henckels called the Henckels Twin Cuisine Swivel Peeler and it will get 5 stars, it is wonderful, just like my old OXO was when it was new. Spend the extra money and get a great quality peeler and a hell of a lot less headaches, it was a real nightmare!!!!!!!!!

I recently bought my second Oxo Good Grips-I bought the first one in 1990 or so...I lost the first peeler (still working perfectly) just recently so I bought a new one to replace it and now I'm sorry to report that this new one is certainly inferior to my first Oxo Good Grips swivel peeler. Maybe the company was sold-something has caused the quality to drop so I have my mind set on a different brand that I'll be getting soon. I wish I were giving Oxo GG a splendid review! I have other Oxo products and though most I got awhile ago, they work well.
