I knew I liked the color of this set as I collect the Le Creuset Cherry items, but I absolutely love the size of this set. My husband bought this for me as an anniversary present (I have been wanting one for ages)! I absolutely love it. Even though it is time intensive, standing at the stove, you get rewarding results! This is one of my best Christmas memories, making Krumkake with my Mom. It does take a while since each cookie is made individually. However, it is totally worth the wait. The cookies are crisp and sweet. I would much rather make them using the stove top method and not the new electric krumkake makers. I remember concentrating on getting them just the right amount of done... with my Mom watching. We would listen to Christmas music and talk as we worked. I guess some memories should not be messed with!

I had an old Krumkake Cast Iron that our hinges finally broke off and thought I would try this unit. Very disappointing! Ever cooked with aluminum foil in the oven? Within seconds from removing it from the hot oven you can touch the aluminum; right? I found this Cast Aluminum Krumkake Iron to be the same way. I couldn't control the heat. I constantly had to adjust the heat on my stove. How frustrating is that?

I then purchased an electric unit. Thinking that was the way to go. Neat concept or so I thought. You can cook twice as fast and two at a time to boot. However I couldn't control the thickness. If you don't mind the bits of Teflon (we called them, "Black spec surprises") and a cookie that is twice the thickness of an ice cream cone the electric unit is definitely for you!

I bought this unit a few years back. Worthless at best! I wish someone even the mfg could come up with some kind of solution to retain the heat with these units. I called their customer service who said, "Good Luck" as their best solution. The problem is Aluminum cools off too fast. It will NOT retain heat. I wish I could locate a Cast Iron Krumkake! Do they make them anymore? eBay HELP!!!

I've been using Nordic Ware's stovetop krumkake iron since I was a teenager, and still love it. Krumkake are delectable, can be refrigerated or frozen, and served either plain or filled with whipped cream. They are exceptionally popular, and it is never a problem if more than one member of a group makes them for the same event they are always a huge hit, and there are never too many.

(I once bought the electric krumkake iron, but my family felt that the results from the stovetop iron were far superior, so I donated the electric one to a charity garage sale.)

This is a good, high quality, cotton string. Not frayed or 'fuzzy' as some types are, especially the cheap dollar store stuff.

Ties well, easy to knot, and stays tied under tension or heat.

I have used it to tie roasts, Rouladen, truss up chickens & turkeys for cooking, even used it for household stuff outside of the kitchen.

What, a review for butchers twine??? Yes, because sometimes good quality in everyday commodity items makes a meal come out better. My family and I like rotisserie chicken and roulades of any kind so I use a lot of twine. This particular brand does not scorch under the intense heat of the infrared element of our grill. With roulades it is very easy to tie without a third hand because the threads have enought "fuzz" to them that an overhand knot stays tight long enough to put the locking knot on it. Finally, the twine is actually wond correctly-it never tangles when it is pulled out for use.

Nothing fancy, more along the lines of finally finding these lids available online (I always forget to look for them when shopping in person). These lids have a "lip" around the part the fits over the can which comes in handy instead of using a fingernail or knife edge to lift the lid from the can, the "lip" serves as an excellent grip. The "handy" hook is useless.....it's the type of thing you see in any market, just the plastic strip that holds unopened packages of stuff on a long strip useless once one opens the packages....I can't imagine anyone would hang the strip and pull off a package of lids as needed. Packaging (I'm a PRIME member) was overkill.....plastic lids in plastic pouches on a plastic strip in another plastic bag, in a box big enough to hold a couple of shoe boxes, filled with air puff packaging....these aren't fragile by any means. Now....let's see how these lids hold up :)

I just recieved this kettle to replace a rival hotpot. The Rival lacked an on-off switch. It also gave off some strange tastes and some say stainless is better than plastic that way.

I reheat coffee and heat canned goods in the hotpot as it's easier for me than the range and the wide opening on this hotpot allows one to clean it easily though the lid won't lift as far as you'd like.

On recieving this kettle my first thought was the base was of light gauge plastic seemed a little cheap. But I suppose that's ok if it turns out to be durable. Next I was amazed that the stainless vessel was of lighter gauge than I expected. This is probably all good though. Some reviewers of the other stainless kettles remark that they are heavy and get 'dangerously' hot. This one is actually reasonably light to maneuver. And if I boil 2 cups of water turning it off myself which is before the automatic shut off the stainless is just warm at the top; not really hot. If it doesn't wear out this is fine for my needs. Also it looks like the picture. I give it one star for the appearance of the polished stainless, but that is subjective. Have to admit though, it cleans good.

3 year later: Still works fine and I've fired it up every day 3-5 times. V Fine.

I have had this kettle for about a year, and have been very happy with it. However, a couple weeks ago I started having the problem that many other reviewers here have complained about, the on/off switch not staying on. Curious, I opened up the bottom of the kettle, and found the two wires going to the heating element had melted together, causing an intermittent short. I have reported this to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, and I hope that something will be done.

This has all the feature I wanted when I was looking for a electric pot to heat water for coffee. Its stainless steel so no plastic taste. Lid opens wide so its easy to fill and clean. No element inside the pot to interfere with cleaning the inside. It lifts off the base so that you can take it to the table. The large window shows the water level. This is our second one of this model. We had the first one for years until we broke it. The new one has a improved spout so that water pours out without spilling on the counter. I can't imagine someone buying any other model when this one has all the features you need for a heating water for coffee of tea..

This is the best I have found. I tried the Cuisinart kettle but the solvents used on the plastic parts (including inside) gave the water a terrible taste and smell. Most kettles had those plastic parts inside for the auto-shut-off mechanism but not this one (it is concealed in the cover)

It is compact and does not take much room on your counter, very quick and so far nothing negative to say about it at all.

I bought this because, let's face it, Alton Brown just rocks. He recommended it "Gear for your Kitchen". I was sick of using my regular stove top teakettle it would collect grease and dirt, requiring scouring on a regular basis. It was Murphy's Law that the kettle would whistle just when I had my hands full or was busy with something else.

This electric hot pot boils water just about as fast (I tested it myself). But it doesn't whistle and shuts itself off when it reaches a boil. AB recommended this one because of the large opening, and true to his claim, you can indeed cool the perfect hard boiled egg 6-7 at a time, actually. I love that it doesn't live on the stove where it collects grease (I've wiped the outside down twice in a year). I love that it's cordless. The only "downside" is that when I make tea, I make 2 qts at a time and the capacity on this is only 1.5 qt, so it could be just slightly larger (Oh and don't try to heat milk based things in it the clean up is horrid I tried to heat up chai in it).

I like this tea kettle. It is a good size for boiling water to make about 3 cups of tea. And by cup, I mean the coffee-mug size, rather than the actual "cup measure".

Unfortunately, within 2 months of use, it developed 3 tiny rust spots on the lid. The rest of the kettle is fine. I am careful to not leave water sitting in the pot, so it is quite disappointing that there are rust spots.

I can only imagine that it used to be a better made product judging from previous reviews, but here is what you get NOW -

First of all, I made sure that the model of my Nesco 18qt was listed as compatible. When I received the item I found that it was quite ill-fitting with a lot of room to slosh around in the cavity of my Nesco. That made me uncomfortable.

Furthermore, I found it to be very thin and chintzy. Not only that, it had a number of little dents in it, assumably, because it was so thin. The edge all the way around the top was very sharp and not at all finished.

I am very familiar with Nesco, having had products of theirs for some years and am also aware that they are not making them like they used to. That is an unfortunate fact and one that I did not contemplate when I purchased this stainless steel cookwell for my older Nesco. I was saddened that not only the quality was not there, but that it didn't even fit well. It was an accident waiting to happen, with such a poor fit and with the sharp rim, so I was forced to return it.

ETA Just a side note that I neglected to mention initially Upon further examination of the picture on this item, I have also noticed that the one I got was different. Mine had the sharp edge all around it sticking OUT from the sides. It was not turned down like it shows in the picture. I hope that makes sense. It is a considerable difference, in my opinion, and one that made it unappealing to use. Perhaps if the cookwell had fit my Nesco better it would not have been such an issue. For that reason I would have changed it to only one star, but was not allowed to revise that portion.

I'm writing this review because there is a review from Dec 2008 with the title "Ill-fitting and very thin."

The Stainless Steel Cookwell I received is the same shape and size as the enamel one that came with the Nesco Oven. I purchased the stainless steel cookwell this week and the Nesco oven a couple years ago.

The cookwell fits perfectly. It is finished similar to the enamel one, perhaps a little smoother. The weight is slightly less than the enamel cookwell but the stainless steel appears heavy enough for the purpose.

I've noticed that the stainless steel in pans I've purchased this year have been, more often than not, lighter than what I used to expect.

I'm not too happy with this pan. It's not made very well. The bottom is not very flat and spins like a top on my glass top stove.

Also the non-stick isn't as good as a similar pan I purchase at the local discount store.

Their description of a Premium Non-Stick pan is not in my opinion even close to correct.

So, right off the bat, I use this pan on a flame burner. Cannot make any comments about an electric burner or on an induction cooktop. I cook with gas. On the stove top, this pan works fine. No problems. No problems with the pan spinning or things like that.

So, this pan is not super super heavy, which, in truth, I would prefer. Heavier pans in my opinion are just better for heat retention. But that being said, I got this pan because it was cheap cheap cheap. Which for me means I can abuse it and replace it when necessary.

The surface is fine (I cook with fats). Fries a pair of eggs (in dab of butter), and the eggs are flippable without any utensils at all. I can also poach single eggs in this pan without a problem. I've also cooked salmon slices on this pan without any problems. It works. The non-stick surface also cleans well with just a paper towel. I don't know if this surface can be scratched by metal tools because (if I ever need any) I have only use wooden utensils when cooking with this pan.

Just to note, the handle can get a little warm while cooking with this pan, but it's nothing that a small towel or pot holder can't solve.

Unfortunately, this product didn't work for me. I ordered the small covers, and used them on containers with smooth glass edges, but the pads didn't adhere. If something nudged the lid, like when moving things around in the refrigerator, the lid would unseal and slip to the side. I was really disappointed.

I absolutely love these covers. I bought the larger version when I was on vacation this summer and immediently went looking for more sizes. They are great for warming things in the microwave, storing things in the refridgerator, and as lids on the stove (with care). The only reason this size did not get 5 stars, is because it is a hair too small. The lids go from 8 1/2 in. down to 4 in. with nothing inbetween. Great for coffee cups but slightly small for my utility bowls that I use to melt butter, etc. Still I use them on a daily basis and love them. A wise buy.

I actually have all three sizes of this product. So far, they've stuck to everything I've put them on: glass and plastic and look nice. I feel like I'm not wasting tons of plastic wrap for little jobs. The only thing I don't like is that you can't really put anything else on top of it in the frig due to the little 'handle' on top (more of a problem with the larger lids with the larger handles). Otherwise, it works very well, no more tangled plastic wrap that gets used once! Plus I can use it in the microwave!
