Before I buy anything, I do a lot of research. I spent well over four hours online and talked to two very good amateur chefs/retired cooks who owned seven and twelve different brands of pepper grinders and both recommended an Atlas pepper mill. Well worth ~$100, grinds exceptionally fine and very fast! Its quite heavy as well. Wasn't really easy to fill (used a funnel) but it holds so much pepper and you need so little when it grinds this fine it doesn't matter. Every time I use it I grin ear-to-ear.

American soldiers supposedly used this pepper mill in WWII to grind coffee. I believe it!

This is a sturdy, keep for a lifetime, works perfectly kitchen and dining room pepper grinder that is both lovely to see and hold, as well as, doing its job. Easy to fill and easy to work, with large storage of the peppercorns. You will hand this down to a family member. Had mine 20 years, no change in design, just gave one as a wedding gift. Timeless quality and appeal.

I've had many pepper mills over the years. Some worked very well, but none lasted. This one works better than any I have had before. It's construction would indicate that it will last a very long time. And it is a beautiful piece of machinery as well.

Ceramic makes a better pie than any other surface, and this little pie pan gives you the perfect, easy, two person delight -a pie with no fuss and no left over.

I've just purchased two of these small ceramic pie plates. They're good ceramic, highly glazed, but a little small! They'll hold 1-1/2 cups of filling nicely, but no more than that. That means they're about 1/4 the volume of a conventional 9" pie plate.

I do like the two I purchased. I just wish they'd been a shade larger.

As a single person, I can now make a pie and know it won't take me a week to eat it! It cleans up very nicely and it a perfect size for those that like to bake but wants a smaller version.

We got tired of throwing away part of a pie each time, because it was just too much for us. These pie plates are a perfect solution.

I absolutely love the new Scarlet color by Fiestaware. Mine did arrive in one piece which is a miracle as the box looked like it had been used for soccer practice -sometimes I think those Fragile stickers result in box abuse!

I was surprised at how small it was, but it did say 6" and 6" it is. You won't bake a pie in it (unless you make individual ones) but it will be great for dips and sauces.

I love, love, love this little contraption. I have a Black and Decker steamer, which works well too, but I can't stand the cleanup on those things. You have to take it apart, try and get all excess material out of the grid, try to wash the base without immersing the electrical cord...even with the metal in-basket steamers you come across the same messy cleanup involving two or three pieces and/or pots and pans. Which, I suppose, wouldn't be a problem for someone wanting to make several servings of steamed veggies, but when it's just you...you don't want the hassle. With this little steamer (which is about the same size as most cereal bowls) I can make individual portions of veggies in a matter of minutes in the microwave. Which is good because I like to shake it up a bit on my seasonings and this gives me the flexibility of making different flavors each time. I just sprinkle on the toppings before zapping the items. Cleanup is where it really, really shines. The slits in the plastic aren't as hard to clean as a grid or those metal steaming baskets that seem to trap everything in their folds. Just immerse in water and clean like a regular bowl. And with only a tablespoon or two of water added before cooking, there's less chance of "drowning" your food. Always a good thing. Can't say enough good things about this steamer.

I bought this for using at work to have a healthier

alternative to the cafeteria. It does the job and makes

the right amount of steamed vegetables for a single serving.

I'd estimate it takes at least about 1 1/2 cups raw veggies by

volume if not a little more. I followed the directions and

put inside the measured amount of recommended water, but now

I just turn on the faucet and put in what looks about the same

as the measured amount. I also reduce the power on the microwave to a medium high and follow the recommended minutes for the different veggies. I wrote on the bottom with a permanent ink pen the recommended times and water amount as a reminder for myself. After microwaving the directions say to keep the steamer closed for a few minutes. So far I've steamed broccoli/cauliflower/carrots and green beans in it with perfect results. Made in China

This is a great product, especially for a smaller family. I would have given it 5 stars but the directions are a little lacking. It has to have a fair amount of water in it (not just a couple of tablespoons) but it works very well.

Honest reviews on Progressive GMMC-46 Mini Microwave Steamer, 2-Cups

This is a great microwave personal size steamer. The steamer insert has an inside diameter of 5 inches and is 2 1/2 inches deep. It can hold about 8 ounces of carrot or zucchini slices, 2 mini-cobs of frozen corn, about 9 1/2 ounces of peas or chopped broccoli or spinach. You might be able to squeeze a little extra above the edge of the insert since the lid has a depth of 1 inch. As everyone says, it steams perfectly and clean up is a breeze.

I have had this steamer for one year and I use it several times per week for steaming vegetables in the microwave. It is a small steamer that only holds about a cup and a half of vegetables so it is perfect for two people. The water heats up very quickly so it typically steams the vegetables within three minutes. The steam basket comes out and it is easy to use as a small strainer for cleaning strawberries or raspberries. The best part about this steamer is that you can throw it right in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. I love this steamer and I would never go back to using a pot with boiling water.

I loved this pan. When I went back to Amazon to buy another one, I saw a review by someone stating there was a warning about Phthalates AND Lead. That did not make much sense to me knowing it was made in Korea where people have gotten highly educated about and sensitive to toxins. But, I wasn't going to risk my family's health. Too bad, I thought, as it really is one of the best pans I have ever used. Then, I found and bought a set of Instant Lead Tests (by Lead Check) sold by Amazon and tested the pan I had at home. The result: NO LEAD. As to Phthalates (DEHP), I don't know how to test for it, but I don't see how DEHP, a primary plasticizer for PVC, would be on the cooking surface meant for high temperature operation. Maybe the handle tested positive for it? Given the type of hard material used for the handle, I don't think it is a high risk area, if any. So, guess what, I am buying another ceramic marble coated pan!

I'm always being distracted by numerous things when I cook and as a result have walked away after or before cooking with flame still burning under the pan, ruining every pan I've ever used. This last time,.. after preparing breakfast, I emptied my bacon & eggs from this Ceramic Marble coated pan, heard the phone ring in my computer room where I took my breakfast to eat, and answer the phone. After finishing my breakfast and phone call,(a good 25 minutes), there was a burning smell. I ran back through the smoke filled house to remove the pan from the stove. I thought,..Oh No!,..another new pan ruined!

After abusing the pan on medium high (3/4) for at least 25 minutes,..I was shocked to see it clean up so easily with just a damp paper towel, and even though there was an 8" area in the center of the pan that was slightly darker than the rest,..it STILL retains it's excellent non-stick properties.

You could spend a whole lot more and still not get something comparable to this very affordable high quality pan.

I have used this pan for a couple of months now and decided to order 2 more, smaller one for myself and 1 for my sister. Will probably purchase more for my family!

They feel solid, and are exactly as described.

I still find that I need to use a little oil or pam spray, but that is fine. These are good quality pans at a great price

Honest reviews on Ceramic Marble Coated Cast Aluminium Non Stick Fry Pan 30cm(12

I realized after a few uses that the pan looks just like the "stone line" pans being sold on TV. I assumed the pan would be heavy since it's got a marble coating but it's surprising light. I cook all types of food on it, and am very impressed with the performance. It cooks evenly, does not require oil or spray, but I add some for flavor. Made eggs sunny side up with two drips of grapeseed oil, added cheese and when the edges curled up, I was able to slide the eggs from the pan onto the plate, no utensils! Cleanup is as easy as rinsing with warm soapy water and a paper towel. Buy it before the price goes up, it's the only pan you'll need.

My husband never forgave me for throwing away his favorite non-stick pan. In searching for a safer alternative to teflon, we came across this pan, which seemed like a safer option. Sadly, upon receipt, we noticed the following disclaimer on the product packaging: "State of California Prop. 65 WARNING This product contains DEHP, a Phthalate Chemical, Lead and other Chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm." Use at your own risk. I'll be returning mine.

I had TWO Zojirushi hot water dispensers. Both failed after less than 2 years on each. One was a manual pump and the other a 3L one touch. This SPT has everything that the Zojirushi units don't. Best of all, it is very inexpensive--about 1/2 the price! Here is my run down:

PROS:

-stainless steel tank: the non-stick on my zojirushi gradually deteriorates (in your water?) and actually sloughed off on one of my units making it useless. No such problem with stainless steel! Just descale it once a month and you are golden.

-pump: there is a safety button you press to unlock the unit and then you just press the dispense button. The water flow is so much stronger than either of my Zojirushi units--score another win for SPT.

-capacity: I went with a larger 5L size this time around. I drink a lot of french pressed coffee and also tea. Refilling a 3L unit was becoming an every 3 day affair and I just wanted to extend that a bit.

-water level display

-reboil feature: have it on 185 degrees but when I want it extra hot, I hit the reboil. Sure you can have it on the hottest setting all the time but that also means more energy.

-3 temperatures: unit will blink on selected temperature and will be a solid light when temperature is reached.

-easy to clean

CONS:

-large size means more energy wasted and also more time to reach desired temperature and even for the reboil. On the outside you can feel heat so there is definitely some heat loss that must be restored by the heating element. How much energy to keep this thing running 24/7? I wish I knew. I guess convenience has a cost.

Most of my experience with these kind of hot pots was with the Zojirushi brand, which is truly a great product thought admittedly quite expensive. The SPT pot is considerably less expensive and is a great alternative if you want to save money on the front end. Nevertheless, my rating comes in at 3 stars because the unit is very poorly insulated. It is hot to the touch on the outside. All that heat escaping into your kitchen has to come from somewhere, and it's not cheap. I'm exchanging for a Zojirushi to save that money in the long run (and get the small LCD Temp display to boot).

Best Deals for Spt 5-Liter Stainless with Multi-Temp Feature

I ordered a 3.5 Liter hot water dispenser from SPT company for a friend. Within 6 months the product stopped working. It appeared to be an electrical problem. I was unable to contact the manufacturer by telephone, but was given an email address which I utilized to query as to repair or replacement. I never received an answer. My friend really enjoyed this item, and used the product daily while it worked, so I ordered another one, however, I increased the size to the 5 Liter model, hoping the size difference might prove to be an improvement. When my friend received the 5 Liter model and placed water in the dispenser, it immediately began leaking from the bottom of the dispenser. Since the product was just purchased, I contacted the seller (not the manufacturer) and the seller immediately replaced this new unit with another one, which worked dutifully for almost 11 months. Now, as of today, this product no longer works. It appears that there is another electrical problem. Since it has been 11 months, the seller is requiring me to contact the manufacturer, and they gave me a telephone number this time. So far I have been unable to get anyone to answer the telephone. I would not recommend this product to anyone, due to the quality of the product. If it worked, and worked for several years, it may be well worth the high price, but with problems in 3 of 3 products, it is my opinion that either there is absolutely no quality control in the manufacturing process, or the parts that are used are of such low quality that one may expect this product to fail within 6 to 12 months, every time.

Honest reviews on Spt 5-Liter Stainless with Multi-Temp Feature

We received the Spt 5 Liter pot and liked it so much that I am just ordering another one while I am logged on to my account. It has a nice stainless steel interior and holds the temperatures great. My only complaint is that everything is in English. There is not Japanese or Chinese labels on the pot and the directions must have been written by someone with English as a first language, because they are easy to understand. This was my only disappointment, no challenge deciphering humorous Asian instructions.

I would recommend this to anyone who used lots of hot water and wants it on demand. In addition to tea,the ideal temp for pour over coffee making is 192F-204F. The high temp setting of 208F on this pot pegs it perfectly. I selfishly bought this unit because I am a coffee drinker and my family are tea drinkers, so everyone in the family is happy.

========= Later =========

I just received my second SPT 5 Liter pot. It also works great out of the box. I love it. My wife loves it. Again I recommend the appliance.

I use this daily and love it. The only downside is if you run low on water, it can evaporate and the unit will shut off. Make sure you keep it full so this doesn't happen. Other wise this is perfect for all my tea needs.

I'm very happy with the pan, heats up evenly. The welded handle (no rivets) is definitely a plus when washing it, I wish all manufacturers would do this... Handle design is also more comfortable than All-clad.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I ended up deciding on Demeyere after reading many reviews and watching a few youtube videos from the manufacture. First impression, I liked that it did not have rivets! Especially with fry pans, rivets can be so difficult to clean as food gets trapped; which also worries me about potential bacteria.

This pan is incredibly heavy, which took some time to get use to but so well made. It takes a while to heat up as others have mentioned. I use the water test to make sure it's at the correct temperature before adding anything, including oil. (Check out the free video on they have sample videos and one of them is on pan frying.) Once the pan is at the desired temperature, food does not stick and it cleans up beautifully. If it's not at the right temperature, it's a mess to clean. (I've learned the hard way.) You do have to make sure to keep the flame down to medium, even while heating for best results. I treat it much like preheating my oven. Put it on the stove, then start preparing my ingredients and within 5 minutes or so it's ready. If it is a bit messy, I will add a little white wine over the heat as if I'm deglazing, works like a charm. Also use barkeepers when needed; but am now ordering Demeyere's special soap to give it a try to. I love the 11" size, perfect for my family of four. Also looks beautiful hanging from my pot rack! It's an investment, so I am buying one piece at a time.

Best Deals for Demeyere Proline 5-Star 11" Frying Pan

I enjoyed reading some of the other reviews about this pan and have to say most of them are very accurate. The only exception I find is that the pan doesn't seem to be as easy to clean as some would claim. It is a stainless steel pan, so if something gets a little too hot or you don't have enough oil it will stick (eggs come to mind). I now use a carbon steel griddle for eggs which works so much better with less oil. To clean the Demeyere proline, I found that one of the blue scrub sponges is usually sufficient for anything that gets stuck (it is designed to scrub but will not scratch the surface of this pan). In one particularly bad case, some canola oil splatters got very sticky and I couldn't get it off until I used some Dawn Power Dissolver. The pan looked absolutely new again.

Go to Sur La Table to see these pans in person, then buy it for much cheaper here at Amazon. You will see that the handle is the most comfortable of anything out there. The 11-inch has a helper handle.

The even heating of this pan is incredible, so much better than a cast iron skillet. This pan is a true joy to cook with!

Honest reviews on Demeyere Proline 5-Star 11" Frying Pan

With this pan, you too can get tasty Maillard reactions. I had been cooking on non-stick and stainless steel (not clad) cookware that I inherited. This is much, much better. Sauteed vegetables and pan fried cutlets just taste better. It deglazes like a champ. This is a heavy pan, feels like a cast iron skillet.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Demeyere Proline 5-Star 11" Frying Pan

I've never purchased a $260 frying pan before....but I was very tired of the discoloration that happens on the less pricey models bought at local venues, so I decided to give this a try. Just once, to see if I like it.

I don't like it, I love it.

With an induction cooktop, this very heavy cookware heats quickly and evenly, all the way to the edges. On an electric cooktop it does the same. It browns meat beautifully. Burned food (yes, I wasn't watching it closely enough) actually comes off without leaving a mark of any kind on it, after a light scrub with a teflon pad or some BarKeepers Friend.

A similar incident on a $60 pan from Bed Bath and Beyond left the discolored stainless steel aura all over the inside of the pan that could not be removed with any amount of prayer or scrubbing. (Like the older Revere Ware.)

So, yes it is three times as expensive. But I will not ever have to replace it. (It has a thirty year warranty and I probably haven't got much longer than that myself, so it's all good.)

It is heavy not as heavy as something like Le Crueset, but much heavier than the stuff you buy locally. Take that into account if you are elderly with limited hand strength this isn't for frail individuals. The handle does not get hot, even though it is welded to the pan. And this is a small thing, but rather important from an "ease of cleaning" standpoint the interior is smooth. There are no handle rivets to get gunked up with food inside the pan, and make cleaning a chore.

Totally worth it! Excellent cookware!

This Flan Panis wonderful! It does not stick. I lived in Germany for three years and bought one of these pans before I left. That was 30 years ago. However, my old one was all banged up and rusty. So I searched to find a new one and this was exactly the size and the type I wanted. I had no idea what the name of the pan was. I just searched for German cake pan. I am now making German cakes again in strawberry season.

I have hoped to find a true competitor to Le Creuset for years, one that was more affordable and of the same quality. Staub fills the bill, and fills it with style. This cocotte is large enough to accomodate a good-sized chicken, and is perfect for slow-cooked stews and braises. The interior coating is easy to clean and effectively non-stick. While its weight may be a deterrent for some, it is so attractive that it can be left on the stovetop or on a counter for easy access. It is my best purchase of the year and I look forward to using it for years to come.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I've had the 7 quart Staub oval cocotte for a few weeks now, but it was too hot to cook anything stew-like until this week. Tonight I finally tried it out with a recipe for Chicken Stew with Winter Vegetables that I've been cooking for a good 10 years now. A classic Pierre Franey recipe. My old Le Creuset 5.5 quart French oven was never quite large enough. The Staub performed to perfection. It large enough to accommodate a large cut-up chicken and a ton of veggies with room to spare. It came up to a brisk simmer very quickly, and maintained the heat when I turned the heat to very low. The lid performs exactly as advertised. It seals completely. Not a wisp of steam came out of the pot. The spikes on the underside of the lid condensed the steam into moisture and cooked those vegetables at the top of the stew that were not completely submerged in the broth perfectly. My old Le Creuset would leave some of those veggies half-cooked while the rest were overdone. The veggies in this stew were all the same toothsome consistency.

I haven't tried to brown anything yet, but I am very impressed at the broad bottom surface that looks like it will accommodate a lot of meat at once. Very nicely designed.

Finally, the Staub is just gorgeous to look at. I know that how a pot cooks is more important than its looks, but, let's face it, we home cooks enjoy admiring our equipment. I bought the grenadine color and it is a really amazing shade of deep wine red, and the glaze is very glossy. It's just a pleasure to show off. I have a feeling that Staub may be discontinuing this color, because I got it for $199 on another site and now it is $203 on Amazon while the other colors are $239. So this color is a fantastic value if you buy it here or look around for a special.

Best Deals for Staub Oval Cocotte 6.75 Quart

If you're shopping for enameled cast iron, you already know the rave reviews for Le Creuset and I agree with them. But Staub is also a fantastic product line, equally gorgeous and with its own long tradition of French-made craftsmanship. These are the best of the bunch for cast-iron ovens.

I prefer Staub for its black, impossible-to-stain interior finish, super-heat resistant brass/stainless handle knobs and the built-in "doufeu" lid ridge to accommodate ice cubes for even more moisture/basting generation. Le Creuset sells a separate doufeu oven, at more than $250, but it's not a feature of their standard French or Coq au vin ovens.

This oven is large -easily fitting a large roast or whole chicken plus veggies. It has handles generous enough to fit four fingers, and the dimpled interior lid well described by Staub literature for optimal internal basting. The basil enamel is absolutely gorgeous, deep and rich with gradations in coloring on both the lid and body. My pieces have no flaws in enamel coverage at the seams, and no nicks/bubbles/imperfections in the finish, inside or out.

I ordered mine through Amazon, but it wasn't shipped through Target, so I can't speak to the vendor or shipping experience. I'm happy to see Staub carried by more popular stores; it's a shame it doesn't have Le Creuset's market exposure, just so discerning folks know they have a choice in really exceptional enameled cookware.

I said I would be lazy and re-print the relevant parts of this review under all the Staub products I own, for those looking at specific items rather than the entire product line. If you're in the market for a French oven, definitely consider Staub's features and quality -you won't be sorry.

Honest reviews on Staub Oval Cocotte 6.75 Quart

I have had this Staub dutch oven for a couple of months and have found so many uses for it. I have gotten rid of all my slow cookers and use this dutch oven instead. I have made pot roasts a couple of times and they come out so tender. Everything can be done in one pot because this dutch oven can be used on the stove and in the oven. You can saute onions and garlic and then brown the meat. After adding water, you can bring it to a boil before putting it into the oven. When potatoes and vegetables are added later, you can bring it to a boil again before returning it to the oven. This saves time in getting the water back to temperature after adding ingredients. I've also made some wonderful soups and stews using this dutch oven.

Cleanup is a breeze. Just rinse with hot water and wipe with a dish rag. Nothing sticks.

This was a beautiful dutch oven out of the box, but both my husband and I were not able to get the lid to rest flat. We noticed that there was a bump on the lip of each side of the lid which caused it to rock back and forth. I was so disappointed because I have a 4 qt round Staub cocotte that we love and was really looking forward to cooking bigger meals in this pan. I noticed that another reviewer cited the same lid problem. I wonder if I got his returned cocotte because ours looked like a return. Someone else has peeled the inspection sticker from the inside of the pan (I could see where it had been) and then while flipping through the pamphlet that came with the pan, I saw that someone had stuck the sticker (said something like inspected by Frederick) on the back page.

I love this pan! Did a lot of research to replace my 5 year old Calphalon 12" "non-stick" pan. The Berndes brand in general was very highly recommended, and I like that the Pearl finish does not contain some of the usual harmful materials in non-stick surfaces. I can't believe how great this pan is. Eggs don't stick; nothing sticks -which means clean-up takes 2 seconds.

My older PTFE (Teflon) coated pan was wearing out, as the coating gets damaged over time, so I wanted a non-stick replacement pan.

My new Berndes ceramic coated pan is amazing! It's more non-stick than PTFE coated pans and more durable. I'm very happy with it. And as an extra bonus, it does all this without using PTFE.

Love, love this pan! Great size and feel. The handles are great. Truly nonstick, cleaning is a dream! Eggs, pancakes, anything you cook inside slides right off. My other pans are Martha Stewart brand and are no where near as good. The fact that it is made environmentally safe for the planet and safe for us as well is fantastic. Buying "Green" products is extremely important. After weeks of using, the bottom hasn't turned brown like my other pans. It still has the pretty green leaves design :) Looks brand new.

I first discovered the Ecolution Artistry pans in my local grocery store. At that time, I was in need of a griddle pan, so I decided to purchase their Ecolution Artistry 11" Griddle. I was attracted to the eco-friendly non-stick coating on these pans--they use a water-based, Hydrolon non-stick coating rather than traditional Teflon/PFOAs--and I admit, I also loved the cute green flower pattern on the bottom! I wound up loving the griddle, so I was interested in purchasing other pans from the Ecolution Artistry line.

I have found my new Ecolution Artistry Chicken Fryer to be excellent as well. As compared to the previous chicken fryer-type pan I was using, the Artistry is more light-weight, which is convenient for transferring food. However, it is the same size and still a substantial pot for cooking chicken or any top of stove-top one-dish meals. But the BEST part about this pan--and the entire Ecolution Artistry series--is the non-stick quality. Foods slide around in the pan--there is absolutely NO sticking! And the Artistry pans are a dream to clean. Although they are dishwasher-safe, I prefer to hand-wash (to preserve the outer finish as well as the overall life of the pans). I could practically just rinse this pot or wipe it out with a paper towel, it is THAT non-stick.

The only issue that I had with this particular pot is that I did NOT like the included high dome glass lid. Unlike the lids that come with other Ecolution Artistry pots (see Ecolution Artistry 8-Piece Cookware Set), which are relatively lightweight, tempered glass with metal edges, the included glass dome lid for the Chicken Fryer is VERY heavy and does not have the metal edge. It does not match the other pots in this series, and it seemed too bulky to be very functional to me. Since the lid of my old fryer pan was actually more similar to the others in the Artistry series, I wound up putting the knob from the high dome glass lid on my old lid, and now the old one is almost an exact match. I suppose some people may prefer the heavier glass lid, but this was an issue for me, and it was the sole reason that I rated this product 4 stars instead of 5.

Otherwise, I am extremely satisfied with this pan overall! I highly recommend the Ecolution Artistry series, both for their excellent non-stick performance as well as for their eco advantage.

This pan was a delightful surprise. I've had Circulon, Calphalon and I prefer this one. So light (although the cover is somewhat heavy), but the helper handle is really great. Food cooks evenly and it's so easy to clean. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

Honest reviews on Ecolution Artistry Chicken Fryer with High Dome Glass Lid

This is another great Ecolution pan but the lid has some problems in that it's really hard to tighten the handle enough on it to stabilize (you have to assemble the top handle to the lid upon arrival), and because the lid is so freaking heavy, the handle feels a bit loose when you lift it.

I'm trying to brainstorm a way to fix this situation. I might try an extra rubber grommet or something to help tighten it better.

Other than that, it cooks great and is VERY non-stick and I don't have to worry about 'fumes'.

I am very pleased with the way this pan cooks evenly. The pan also cleans very easily. I love that it has two handles for heavier food items. The only complaint I have is, the bottom of the pan has begun chipping already, pretty much after first use. AND the thing is, I have babied this pan because the bottom is so beautiful that I was extra careful, to no avail.
