Ceramic makes a better pie than any other surface, and this little pie pan gives you the perfect, easy, two person delight -a pie with no fuss and no left over.
I do like the two I purchased. I just wish they'd been a shade larger.
I was surprised at how small it was, but it did say 6" and 6" it is. You won't bake a pie in it (unless you make individual ones) but it will be great for dips and sauces.

I've just purchased two of these small ceramic pie plates. They're good ceramic, highly glazed, but a little small! They'll hold 1-1/2 cups of filling nicely, but no more than that. That means they're about 1/4 the volume of a conventional 9" pie plate.I do like the two I purchased. I just wish they'd been a shade larger.

I absolutely love the new Scarlet color by Fiestaware. Mine did arrive in one piece which is a miracle as the box looked like it had been used for soccer practice -sometimes I think those Fragile stickers result in box abuse!I was surprised at how small it was, but it did say 6" and 6" it is. Cheap Farberware 77289 Classic 10-Piece Cook and Strain Cookware Set

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I really like the locking strainer lid on the 8 qt. stockpot. I have boiled pasta and potatoes and it has been very convenient to lock the lid in place and pour the water out in the sink without having to get extra kitchen gadgets to do so. Water seems to boil faster using these pots as well and I imagine it has to do with the aluminum cores surrounded by the stainless steel. The water strains through the top of the lid.
The 1 & 3 qt saucepans have lips on each side and in order to strain the liquid from the pans, you line the holes up to the lips, hold the lid in place, and pour. The straining holes are in the sides of the lid and there are smaller holes on one side and larger on the other.
The finish is a pretty stainless steel. The top knob and handles could have been made of better quality material.
The 8" & 10" nonstick aluminum skillets have a shiny metal outside and top edge. They have riveted handles. The bowl size itself seems to be a little deeper compared to similar skillets. The handles have rings for hanging. The outside is already showing scratches, which I don't like.
So, although I like this cookware, I think it could be better with locking lids on all the saucepans.
The first thing is that I think that I paid more for a similar set over 30 years ago. The second this is that this set is much better designed and built that my original set. The pans have a non-stick coating when my older skillets did not. They also feel heavier more solid. Another thing that is different is that the lids on this set have strainers which make it easier to drain the cooking liquid off.
Since I graduated from my original set I much confess that I have had a tendency to go overboard when it comes to cookware. I've owned some really expensive skillets and pans but when I think about buying something for a college student or a newly married couple I look towards sets like this one. My only concern is that the stainless finish requires more care and maintenance than an anodized finish that you can find on some other sets.
I have been surprised at how well this set works in the kitchen. I would like it if they were a tad bit heavier but they a pleasure to cook with and seem like a great value.
The handles are the feature I like least. My older Farberware had stainless steel handles and were safe to use in the oven. The handles on the Classic model are a cheaper plastic. However, the handles do have a loop so that we could hang the skillets (which we use daily) up in a convenient but attractive spot.
At this point, I would recommend the Farberware Classic as a great starter set for anyone who needs the basic cookware. It's not fancy but it definitely gets the job done.
The Farberware Classic is not the top of the line stainless that Farberware makes, but it is a very good functional set of cookware. It's also a matter of preference. Now that I am older I prefer a porcelain colored finish or anodized that won't show water spots, streaks, etc. Stainless does require a bit of upkeep, but this set I have found is easy to maintain.
The sizes of this set will work in just about any kitchen and each piece is very useable. The non stick skillets have exceptional cleanup and I have always found when cooking with stainless that immediately after using a piece put some water in it to unstick any pasta, etc., left. Makes cleanup so much easier. I would never put any of this set in the dishwasher, especially the non-stick pans which the manufacturer states to not put them in.
I definitely like the lid on the larger stockpot for alleviating any boil over while cooking. I still drain potatoes, pasta into a stainless colander. I just don't like the steam in my face from a pan with a lid. The lids on the smaller pans make it easy to drain vegetables, etc. Very convenient.
The cookie sheets are a nice addition and do not warp in the oven when using.
I have been using this cookware set for about a month and I do like it. It has a nice weight to it. I also use anodized and porcelain in my kitchen and as I cook a lot I find there is a place for many different types of cookware. Sometimes I just prefer stainless over non-stick.
I gave it 4 stars because it does show water spots/streaking if not dried with a dish towel and because I do prefer glass lids on the pans I use, but overall I would recommend this set, especially for a gift. It's reasonable and very functional!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program When I first started to take cooking somewhat seriously (in the early 80's) I went to a department store and purchased a stainless steel set of cookware similar to this one. The pans were not coated with a non-stick material and it took me a while to clean them, still, they were fairly heavy and served me well for several years. When I got a chance to try out this set I was surprised by several things. The first thing is that I think that I paid more for a similar set over 30 years ago. Best Deals for Farberware 77289 Classic 10-Piece Cook and Strain Cookware Set
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program When the box arrived I didn't think there could possibly be a 10-piece set of cookware inside...but, the entire 10-piece set was packaged one pan inside another with packing material between each piece to protect each pot, pan and lid. My compliments to the packer! The first thing I noticed was how each pot and pan was very lightweight. I baked cookies and biscuits on the non-stick sheet pans and they slid off effortlessly using my non-metal spatula. I used the big pot and cooked spaghetti, locked the lid and gently tilted the pan to strain. It worked great. The saucepans also worked very well cooking. With the saucepans you hold the lid in place when straining. I have made fried green tomatoes, pancakes, fried rice, and more in the non-stick skillets and have been pleased with how each turned out. When the pots were hot the handles were not. All the cookware has stayed nice and shiny even after being washed in the dishwasher numerous times.Honest reviews on Farberware 77289 Classic 10-Piece Cook and Strain Cookware Set
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have a much older Farberware Millenium cookware set so I was curious to see how the Classic set would compare. The strainer lid is perhaps the best difference as it allows me to drain hot water off of pasta without pulling out my colander and thus having more dishes to wash. The other lids aren't locking and I wish they would. They seem fairly sturdy otherwise. The handles are the feature I like least. My older Farberware had stainless steel handles and were safe to use in the oven. The handles on the Classic model are a cheaper plastic. Best Nordic Ware Divided Skillet Omelet Pan & Poacher Deals
The description fails to note a warning contained on the back of the product's label regarding glass/ceramic cooktops; "Use of high or even medium high heat will damage this pan and your stovetop."
The description states, "The pan's heavyweight construction". Actually the pan is made of very thin, lightweight aluminium. This explains how the pan can be damaged by medium high heat I guess.
Yes, I'm aggravated by the omission and false statement. It might show.
I returned mine.
Love the flip over design... Well made and works great. Be sure to use wooden tools as not to scratch it...
The added bonus of the egg cooker is very nice. As eggs are the best foods you can eat, I eat a lot of eggs...
I hand wash the pan.

This has proved to be just what I needed. I have an older Antionette Pope Cookbook (1954)which features a recipe for a fluffy omelet. The recipe requires a divided pan. This pan is ideal for that recipe and works perfectly. The egg poaching insert works well too. I bought this pan specifically for this recipe and couldn't be more pleased. My family loves the omelets the pan (and I)are able to produce. E-mail me and I will share the recipe(...). Then you'll be able to appreciate the beauty of this cookware.Best Deals for Nordic Ware Divided Skillet Omelet Pan & Poacher

Honest reviews on Nordic Ware Divided Skillet Omelet Pan & Poacher
I bought this to replace an omelet pan that was at least 30 years old. The handle finally broke off after decades of service and left me in search of a replacement. I found this, bought it, and have been dissatisfied ever since. It is NOT a heavy duty pan (very thin in fact), NOT coated in durable non-stick material (peeling after perhaps 6-10 uses and very sticky even with butter or cooking spray applied liberally) and certainly doesn't cook evenly (burns by the hinge and remains raw at the outside). The search for a suitable replacement for my trusty old pan continues.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Nordic Ware Divided Skillet Omelet Pan & Poacher

Kaiser Bakeware Noblesse 9-1/2-Inch Non-stick Quiche Pan Review
This is a good, sturdy tart pan. While the coating is pretty good, it doesn't cover the edges, thereby exposing the underlying metal, and it's starting to rust there already, even with meticulous hand washing.
And, along those lines, this pan cut the LIFE out of my hand when washing it. That top, uncoated edge is razor sharp, and when all lubed up with soap and applying pressure to wash the bits of tart out of the nooks and crannies, the pan slipped and sliced 3 fingers. I was bleeding for days; the cuts were deep. Usually, I'd chalk this up to idiocy, but I have no idea what I would have done differently. I think from now on, I will actually hold it in a padded oven mitt, wash thoroughly, and then toss the mitt in the wash. I'm not kidding, it WILL happen again.

What I like best about the Kaiser Noblesse pan is that unlike most pans this is coated so it will not rust. You can put this into the dishwasher and it washes up well. I have had less expensive tart pans with no finish only have them rust. This pan will not rust, and the removable base really helps you serve up your dish in a very eye pleasing way. The removeable base also enables slicing your dish easily. I highly recommend this pan!Best Deals for Kaiser Bakeware Noblesse 9-1/2-Inch Non-stick Quiche Pan
I've been baking since my preteen years, and so I've come to know that a little weight in a baking sheet or pan is a plus for the baker. Weight means that your baked goods are secure when being transferred to and from the oven, that they brown well and evenly, and that the pan will last for years with proper care. This pan offers all those pluses and is a quality product.Honest reviews on Kaiser Bakeware Noblesse 9-1/2-Inch Non-stick Quiche Pan

very nice. thicker and sturdier feeling than some of the standard tart pans. Someone noted that the edges are sharp? I didn't think that the edges were unduly sharp. I don't recommend using the pan bottom as a cutting surface though. The whole pan seems to have some kind of nonstick coating.Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Pyrex Prepware 3-Piece Mixing Bowl Set, Clear Review

List Price: $24.95

If you need some wide, shallow mixing bowls, these are a nice choice. Their design is attractive and basic, and you know the benefits of Pyrex. Before buying, you should consider stainless steel instead, as it is lighter (these are a bit heavy) and won't explode into sharp bits if you drop it on your tile floor. Also, bear in mind that these bowls are shallow, so if you are a messy mixer (or use an electric mixer or a fast whisk), you may end up slopping ingredients out over the side.
Their wide shape and clear material lets them do double duty as informal serving bowls, which a true (high sided) mixing bowl doesn't do very well.
In short, these are nice to have around for certain uses, but choose high-sided stainless steel bowls as your main set.
These bowls work brilliantly for myriad uses. They go into the oven, microwave, and fridge with aplomb.
PS
I like also the set of small Pyrex bowls, often seen on cooking shows, to hold spices, diced veggies, etc during preparation. These are also available on Amazon.
The lip makes them easy to hold on to, but kind of gets in the way when I'm stacking these bowls with other mixing bowls I own, which are also Pyrex, but going on 25 years old now. Aside from that, so far, so good, and i'm quite happy with the cheap purchase, which is cheaper than nearby stores.

I bought this set about two weeks ago and have been satisfied overall. You are getting exactly what you pay for; three basic glass bowls that are fairly sturdy and seem very durable. My only complaint is that they identify themselves as `mixing bowls' and are really all too small to do any real mixing in. The smallest one is the size of a cereal bowl, and the biggest one can only hold enough salad for 4 people. If you want to actually mix, even a single batch of cookies, you're going to want something bigger.Best Deals for Pyrex Prepware 3-Piece Mixing Bowl Set, Clear
I've had these for about 14 years and I'm still using them. I can't use them to serve anymore because they scratch rather easily and look awful, but they're still on the mixing job. I've used them so much that they're needing replaced now but I really like being able to see through the bowl to make sure all the batter has been mixed thoroughly. It's just one of those things everyone should have in their cabinet to make life easier.Honest reviews on Pyrex Prepware 3-Piece Mixing Bowl Set, Clear

I bought this set on the recommendation of my culimary friend who said she thought they were as good or better than Al Clad. I could not be happier with the performance and looks of the Cuisinox Elites. They have a nice heavy feel to them, and the lids fit to exact. The handles are solid and give a nice grip. I couldn't help notice that even the simmer looked different probably due to the clad aluminum that extends up the sides. This set is a real wow and I am already looking to add to it.Best Deals for Cuisinox Elite 10 piece Cookware Set
After reading the previous reviews of Cuisinox I purchased a 2.8 liter pot. Much as I love cooking with it I find I do not use it because the handle is so narrow, it is impossible to pick up and pour with one hand. The narrow handle twists in your hand because of the weight with any contents. Even my husband (a big boy) found it very difficult. It means it takes two people to pour from the pot One to hold both sides of the pot and the other to control the contents being poured. For this reason,I would not purchase any more. Otherwise I like the pot.Honest reviews on Cuisinox Elite 10 piece Cookware Set

My pans warped and luckily the store I bought them from had them replaced under warranty. I bought 4 originally and two went back. I was told it was because I was placing cold water in hot pans, which I've never done. However, the second set of pans warped also. They also do not heat evenly. I blamed my very expensive induction stove for a very long time, until a day came about that I used one of the pans and was getting hot spots just cooking bacon and everything was sticking. I switched to my cheap Canadian Tire brand and funny thing...my bacon cooked evenly and nothing was sticking. I can even cook crepes better in my cheap CT pan and this I know because I have two pans going at the same time! In my opinion...they are a waste of money and I am extremely disappointed.Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Buy Fox Run 26-Piece Alphabet Cookie Cutter Set
An avid home cook that is a collector of both cookbooks and cooking gadgets writes this review. I purchased this product because my cooking has progressed to the point that I am as concerned about presentation as I am the taste of the food I fix for my family. I use this product to make fancy cuts on cookies, pie dough and raw vegetables. I have summarized my observations of this product below:
Pros:
1. Easy to change the shape of the cutout
2. Small size means easy to store
3. Excellent for cookie dough as well as chilled pastry and raw vegetables
4. Easy to clean by hand
5. Makes a very impressive cookie or pie crust that is deceptively simple
Cons:
1. Of limited usefulness but still quite fun (It wouldn't be the first kitchen gadget I would add to my collection)
2. Small size means it should not go into the dishwasher unless you want them to end up in the bottom
If you are wondering what you could do with these, here are some suggestions:
1. Happy Birthday on a top pie crust (cut out dough from the top crust or add dough letters to the top)
2. Message cut out of the top of a quesadilla
3. Monogrammed cookies
4. Monogram tea sandwiches
5. Cut out letters from cooked veggies and use the rim of a plate to send a message
6. Monogrammed french fries of polenta (the potato will needed to be thinner than normal to successfully cut it out)
The options are really endless if you are creative. I think messages in lunches are a nice way to remind those that you love that you are thinking about them.
Overall, if you are looking for way to enhance the appearance of the food you serve your family you will get a lot of use out of these.
One tip since they're small, have a few toothpicks handy to poke the food back out after cutting it! Depending on the food, it can stick. Take care of these wash and then dry well. I usually put the dry cutters on a small cookie sheet in my toaster oven and turn it on warm. This gets them completely dry and prevents rusting!
These are SUPER TINY! I had so much trouble cutting/getting the shape out of the cutter without ruining the letter.
Then, after you are done and washed them all getting them to fit back into the tin they came in takes forever. I gave up and just got a Ziploc bag.

Gosh I really didn't expect them to be this small. 1 inch high by 3.4inch wide. I'm going to be making Q cookies for days for the kindergarten class. I must have missed the measurements when I went to order these. Oh well fun for the children to make their name.Best Deals for Fox Run 26-Piece Alphabet Cookie Cutter Set
We've been doing all kinds of tricks to get our son to eat more, and to eat healthy foods. Since he's preschool-age and learning his letters, these have been perfect! I cut deli meats, cheeses, bell peppers, melon, etc., for his meals. Sometimes I spell out a word or his name, or sometimes I just put in a few letters. I've even been able to coordinate the 'letter of the week' with his preschool teacher. We had fun putting everyone's initials in crust on the top of personal pot pies. One tip since they're small, have a few toothpicks handy to poke the food back out after cutting it! please note, these are not really cookie cutters. they are designed for fondant to decorate cakes and cupcakes and thus are very small. with that in mind, they are perfect and will keep well if hand washed and dried.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Fox Run 26-Piece Alphabet Cookie Cutter Set

Reviews of 8-Inch ECLIPSE Nonstick Aluminum Frying Pan, Fry Pan, Saute
This is a good, solid aluminum saute pan with a tough non-stick coating. It works great. So why only 3 stars? Because the handle is awful. It's just a flat slab of aluminum that feels clumsy in your hand and, because it's the same metal as the pan, it gets just as hot as the pan. You cannot touch it while cooking without a potholder.
