Our daughter loves to watch the Food Channel and she wants to have her own restaurant when she grows up! She really wanted a chef's hat, and had asked for months. We finally saw this set and got it for her birthday. She absolutely loves it.

The apron can fit must kids probably up to 5' tall. The mit is like a real oven mit. You could really use it on hot items. The only thing I don't like about the set is the hat. The hat is meant for a small head. While the apron will fit your little chef for years to come, the hat will not.

From the time we got it, we had to really stretch to try to make this hat fit her head. I am not Suzy Homemaker and am not very creative with rigging things. I'm sure you could get creative and sew some elastic or velcro on the back to make this hat fit your child as their head gets bigger. However,I have yet to be that creative.

Other than the hat issue, we love this apron set. I would recommend it, but letting you know about the hat ahead of time, so as to let you make an informed decision.

The dimensions must be for the shipping box. The capacity is obviously wrong. A "mini" cocotte can't be just under 1 quart in capacity. I purchased a set of pans, the problem was the 8 inch skillet didn't have a lid for it. Obviously, this glass lid cannot take the heat, for when I removed it from the heat, it instantly exploded into thousands of bits.

What I was preparing had to be dumped, since it was full of glass, glass everywhere.

This pan may be expensive but worth every penny. Every other nonstick pan I've ever bought seems to scratch very easy. I handle them with care, never use metal utensils but that don't keep them from peeling. This one I've been using for a few months and still looks like brand new. I just love this saucepan. It is everything a saucepan could be: heats evenly; cleans up easily in the dishwasher; does not have any rivets etc. on the inside to trap food; has smooth finish to release food; and looks really good. This pan will heat the most delicate soup or sauce without any hot spots. It has a good feel with some weight to give that nice even heat. I don't find it heavy; it just has the feel of a very well made item. I have a Cuisinart pan I bought a year or two ago to do the same job and it drove me crazy--always forming hot spots and I had to keep it on almost the lowest heat and stir almost constantly--so much for Cuisinart's sandwich construction. This Demeyer saucepan is the real deal.

We use this daily to cook steel cut oats and it works great for rice or quinoa as well. This line (Demeyere Atlantis) is fabulous; although they are heavy, they cook very evenly and clean up easily. (Use vinegar to soak tough stains or gently scrub with baking soda to remove burn stains).

I've had a tough time getting hold of these things. Buying it has not been a good experience. Expect to pay the full price, not what Amazon lists. I must have missed the fine print somewhere.

The pot works great but is a bit hard to keep clean. It heats up quickly and stays hot long after you turn off the heat. The handle stays reasonably cool as advertised.

First let me say that I have an induction cook top, so I am limited to magnetic cooking materials. I tend to get bored having all of one brand, so my armamentarium is a hodge-podge of several brands including All-Clad SS, LeCreuset (both SS and enameled cast iron), Emerilware (both the tri-ply clad and the regular SS with the clad bottom), and plain old Lodge cast iron.

The CIA Masters Collection 2 quart saucier is perhaps my favorite. It has a nice heft, but is not too heavy, looks great, and has a great handle. The lid is a little nicer than the All-Clad as well. I only have this one piece, but suspect I will end up with more, as that handle beats the pants off of the All-Clad SS (the predominant player in my collection), and otherwise performs comparably to the All-Clad SS, which I consider the standard for comparison for SS cookware. Also I find it more aesthetically pleasing than any of the brands that I mention above, which is a plus in my book, although it has absolutely nothing to do with cooking.

Used it to make a Fleur de Sel Caramel sauce tonight and it performed excellently. My new favorite pan. Certainly not cheap, but pretty much comparable in price to All-Clad and less than say Viking. Anyway, if you don't mind paying for premium cookware, you won't go wrong with this piece, and I suspect anything in their line.

Light weight but solidly constructed, nothing rattles feels like the kettle is well put together. Could go into details about the spun metal construction, the aluminum plate at the bottom for more efficient transfer of heat, and how the handles and spout are spot welded to the main body of the kettle. But all that is just frivolous detail, though as is how the lid opening is rolled round and inward and you really have to feel around the rolled metal to find the edge which is rather smooth. It's a solid kettle and should stay that way unless it gets kicked or tossed about like a football.

Relatively easy to clean and fill with the removable lid, though a smaller hand than mine would make interior washing a bit easier. THAT feature is a plus for me as I like to be able to wash and inspect the inside of the kettle and make sure nothing is building up in there.

Seems to heat fast in spite of the large capacity, packaging claims it can be used on all stoves. Gas, electric, ceramic etc, so the kettle is compatible with any stove, no troubles there.

I've poured out a quart and a half of boiling water from this kettle, you should not have to worry about running out of hot water for your friends/co-workers unless there are a LOT of them, or they're VERY thirsty.

The only major knock against this kettle is that the handle gets hotter than hell while it's heating up on the stove, use a towel or oven mitts when taking this kettle off the boil otherwise you're going to get hurt, you've been warned.

The kettle comes with it's own nifty whistle/air raid siren. You will have NO trouble hearing it. Your going to know when the water is boiling, your family is going to know it, your neighbors and people passing by on the street are going to know the water is boiling as well. I rather like the whistle/air raid siren thing, as I tend to set it on the stove and forget it, which could be bad if the whistle wasn't so loud. I usually zip downstairs and turn the stove off before the whistle/siren cranks up to full blast and alerts everyone I'm making some tea. Whistle is obviously removable so you can boil water without waking the family or alerting the neighbors that you are doing so. Just don't misplace the whistle, it isn't attached to the kettle and you might need it someday should there be an air raid.

Good tea kettle, solid construction, heats up fast for its size, nice large capacity, easy to clean and comes with that nifty siren/whistle to remind you that, yes, you've put the kettle to boil. Rather expensive but I do not regret shelling out the extra shekels for the kettle.

I went through 2 other kettles before I found this one. I have an induction stove and this is the only kettle that is well built and does not splatter water when it boils. Just one word of warning, as was mentioned by another reviewer, the whistle is LOUD. Even on the opposite side of my home, it's LOUD. The whistle does just pop on and off so you can easily remove it if it annoys you.

I love the style of this teapot. I heat up water for tea or coffee daily, so wanted something that would look nice sitting on stove. The little loop on the end of the spout becomes too hot to handle, so you need a hot mitt in order to open it for pouring. After less than 30 days it developed a leak around the bottom seal. For the price, I would definitely expect better quality.

Cheap All-Clad Stainless Steamer Insert

This insert has been hanging in my kitchen for some years now, and I was recently given another. The new one is made in China despite the exorbitant All-Clad price, though it doesn't seem to make much difference. Both are equally unsatisfactory, except perhaps for draining vegetables, and there are more convenient ways to do that.

First, the steamer fits only one of my many pots --an LTD saucepan. And it doesn't fit it well. The little bead that rests on the pot rim is too shallow to make a good seal even with the pot the insert is made for, and hopeless with any other. Steam whooshes out over the pot rim without going through the veg, and the bad seal cools the steam and sogs the vegetables. The pot lid doesn't fit the insert very well, either, and drips cooling condensate into the vegetables --more sog.

The steaming surface is inches above the water (unless you boil an awful lot of water, when it bubbles up into the veg and sogs them). The steam doesn't circulate well and probably isn't hot enough to start with. An inch or so of water always steams better than 3 or 4 inches --don't ask me why.

The steaming surface is inadequate. All the holes are on the bottom, and kind of in the middle of that, and what steam reaches the top, or business half, of the steamer doesn't circulate well. More sog.

What with one thing and another, no quantity and no type of food cooks very well. Well, it's not too bad for Persian-style rice --the kind you pre-cook slightly, then finish by steaming.

Alternatives? Any folding steamer will do a better job. You can find a nice big one that will fit into your 13" LTD frying pan, if you're lucky. Take a pair of pliers and pull the lifter stem out of the middle (it's not much use anyway). You can get a lot of clams into this rig. Or use a smaller folding steamer in any pan --LTD pans with their tight lids are my favorite. The sauciers have domed lids which work even better.

If you have a steam canner, put a bamboo steamer and its bamboo lid on the plate (the big ones just fit). This makes the best steamed food ever, but it's a bit cumbersome for everyday.

I bought this insert to use with my all clad LTD 9 piece set that I bought a few months ago. I use the steamer with the 3qt sauce pan a LOT. It cleans up very easily, looks beautiful, and fits nicely into my sauce pan. Some people are complaining about steam escaping from the pan. Don't let this deter you from buying this steamer. Steam is SUPPOSED to escape. If no steam escaped, you'd basically have a pressure cooker!

I was excited to add this piece to my All-Clad collection, but I'm a little disappointed with it. It doesn't fit my pans very tightly; a good amount of steam escapes from between the insert and the pan, rather than going up into the chamber with the food. It doesn't have the heft of other All-Clad pieces, either. I think that one of those inexpensive, collapsible chrome steamer inserts that fits down inside any pan works just as well. On the up-side, this item cleans up easily, doubles as a fine colander, and is likely to out-last a collapsible chrome steamer. I'd buy it again, but I wouldn't have as high expectations of it.

I purchased this steamer several years ago and use it frequently to steam fresh vegetables. It fits perfectly into my 2-quart All-Clad saucier, which is wider at top than the 3and 4-quart saucepans into which it's said to fit. I put an inch or two of water in the saucier, insert the steamer, and cover with the saucier top. I was surprised to see the reviews mentioning steam escaping. I have never had steam escape and the vegetables have always been perfectly and uniformly steamed -even when I fill the steamer to its rim with kale. I gave the steamer four stars instead of five only because of the length and weight of the handle (which probably helps to keep it cool, I suppose). I agree it cleans up nicely, even if I put it in the dishwasher instead of hand washing it, and it still gleams like new!

This All-Clad Stainless Steamer Insert with long handle fits All-Clad pots with an 8-inch diameter, which are 3 and 4-quart saucepans. It will fit pots with loop handle or without. The rivets from the loop handle don't interfere with the steamer. I'm not sure why All-Clad chose to make this steamer as well as their All-Purpose Steamer Insert that will fit 2, 3, and 4-quart pots. The only advantage this may have over the All-Purpose Steamer is that you can hang it on a pot rack, because it has a long handle. That's convenient, but the handle is the steamer's flaw. It weights the pot to one side, causing a small gap between the opposite side of the steamer and the pot in which it is sitting, so it doesn't fit well. That allows steam to escape. The steamer still works, but it does leak more steam than my old Calphalon Universal Steamer.

The steamer is not as heavy as an All-Clad pot, which is normal, but the description leads me to believe that the All-Purpose Steamer is heavier. And that one has 2 loop handles, which is more sensible. The handle of this steamer is shorter and at an odd angle that doesn't correspond to the angle of a pot handle. The Stainless Steamer Insert with long handle is the less expensive of the two steamer options for smaller All-Clad pots. It works fine, but the design is a bit careless. So you have to decide if having a long handle is worth sacrificing some quality. Some people may also prefer this one for its flat bottom. The All-Purpose Steamer Insert has a stair-step design to accommodate more pot sizes, so there is less space in the bottom of the steamer. The Stainless Steamer isn't horrible, but, upon reflection, I probably would have preferred the All-Purpose model.

I bought this pan after a good amount of research, and it turned out to be a good choice. It heats evenly, sears well, cleans up easily, and is good looking too. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that it appears to scratch pretty easily. I used a wooden spatula and there were about 3-4 scratches after wards. So be sure to use silicone spatulas.

I bought this item to make small batches of sauces and dressings. I liked that it had the hole on top to slowly add liquid ingredients, like oil in homemade mayonnaise. Unfortunately it leaks, a lot, all around the lid. It works great other than that.

A product advertised that it can make sauces and dressings should have a leak proof seal!
