Beautiful little pepper grinder. Never going to break an expensive plastic one again. Metal the material of your grandparents! Great as is, but for a courser grind it's pretty easy to modify to your liking.

"Modify a $50 pepper mill" you say? Sure, why not, it's metal. Here's how:

Get a punch (like a screwdriver or nail set) hammer, pliers, vice grips or best of all a bench vise, and a file.

Unscrew the two philips screws on the side of the mill's body. Drop out the grinding mechanism and the shaft (undo the bolt and remove the handle first).

Undo the adjusting screw at the bottom (don't lsoe the spring!) and use the screwdriver/punch and hammer to knock free the adjusting screw's cross bar. I did this on a work glove so as not to mar the grinder or my work bench and so it wouldn't slip away so easily.

Once this is knocked free clamp that cross bar in a vise or pliers or whatever and file a section of that cross bar down a millimeter or two. You want to file the wider part of the bar, the side that faces up to the sky when you put it back together. Make sure you don't file the ends that seat the bar in the mechanism, you only want to file an area slightly larger than the diameter of the grinding burr (about 20 or 21 milimeters, or ~10mm from the center of the adjusting screw's hole).

Once this is done, but it back together! The cross bar may fit loose when you tap it back in, but it's got nowhere to go once you put the mechanism back in the grinder body. If the very minor rattling bothers you, just put a dab of glue on it to keep it in place. The top cap rattle more anyway

Now that adjusting screw will actually have a purpose!

This process gives a coarser grind, and also lowers the handle towards the top cap so the top cap won't bounce around quite so much as another reviewer mentioned.

If you're a really ballsy pepper grinder modifying gal/guy you can even eliminate the gap between the handle and the top cap by unscrewing the grinding shaft (adjustable wrench on the handle flats) from the burr (wrap the burr with that leather glove and grip it with vice grips/vice/big pliers) and filing down the bottom of the shaft a couple of millimeters. If you go too far the handle will bottom out on the top cap and you'll be stuck with fine grind instead of the courser grind you've already worked so hard for. If this happens, just unscrew the shaft again and stick a pepper corn, or half a pepper corn, or a tiny rock or something small and hard in the bottom and tighten it back up again.

Voila! The perfect pepper mill! "Too much work," you say? Yeah, probably, but what else are you gonna do at your grandparents' house for a week with all those tools lying around? Either way, how can you go wrong with a pepper grinder that you can modify to your own tolerances. It's that solid.

This dish is beautiful! The shape is gorgeous and color is the perfect sky blue--just like the sky on a clear summer day. Why only three stars? Because the piece had small defects: dimples and a little dash where the blue color and glaze didn't cover the clay 100%. After doing some research, I think this piece is a second. On the EH website, they guarantee their "firsts" for 10 years, but they only guarantee their seconds for 3 years. Upon closer examination of the Amazon description, I see that it says the dish has a 3 year warranty, so it must be a second. I just wish they would state the condition of the dish upfront to be transparent and not cause customers to have to open an investigation into the product they just ordered. If the product description was transparent, I'd have given this piece 5 stars because I'd have gotten exactly what was described. Shipping was very quick (I have Amazon prime and it arrived in 1 day!) and the piece arrived intact, so no complaints there.

I bought this to replace my old clear pyrex baker for dishes that can't be turned out onto a serving dish. After 40 years I decided to treat myself to something beautiful. This fit the ticket. It's expensive, but the joy I receive was worth it. It looks great, cooks great and cleans up easily. I don't consider myself a "cook" but this makes it easy. I expect to enjoy many, many years of "cook and serve" from this piece, and it matches all my gray dishware and linens! I recommend this baker.

I have both the large and smaller sized figue colored bakers and after using them both for over a year now I noticed that the glaze at the bottom of the bakers have small scratch marks. I think the other Emile Henry bakers with the Celadon finish are much better. They are resistant to surface scratches and the smooth glaze makes it much easier to clean. It's also a lot tougher to get into this baker's angled corners to clean it. Sorry I didn't know these details before I bought it. I would not recommend it.

I was very hesitant to buy this pan because there were no reviews on the product page and the price was better by far than any other sites I had searched. Their product photo was small so I thought they were hiding something. Then I decided either I wouldn't get a lid or it would be one of the lid's that used to be made in China that didn't fit well. I'm just being honest because in most cases I probably would have been afraid to take a chance. The company feedback on other items was very good. In the 12 hours I took to try and decide whether to go for it 2 of the 3 available pans sold so I decided to take a chance.

This pan is truly perfection. I am housebound and had never seen the D5 in person and wish I had many more pieces. I do have the copper core set because I had enough points to get a 7 piece set without paying cash plus it was the only set the site had in all clad. Both the copper core and D5 arrived on the same day. I really like the look of the brushed D5 and will be searching for a 3 qt. in it because I use that size saucepan most frequently. I made a french vanilla bean custard for homemade ice cream in the D5 yesterday and it was pure pleasure. Prior to last Friday, I had only inexpensive non stick saucepans I bought years ago from qvc plus odds and ends non stick specialty pans and one all clad older stainless skillet. There was no comparison to the control I had over my gas heat in the D5 compared to a similar french vanilla bean custard I made the week before in the older stainless non stick. I will probably find I like the copper core better for some cooking and the D5 better for others. It is substantial, looks beautiful with stainless in the kitchen and will be cherished. I received it in a manufacturers box very quickly. It's so nice when a seller and the product are better than you imagined and I wanted to be sure this review was available for anyone else that may hesistate.

Yep, these ain't cheap but if your serious about your cooking and enjoy your time in the kitchen whisking up your favorite recipe you should consider investing in high quality cookware.

For years I hesitated and settled for good quality imitations such as the Emeril's cookware but finally decided to treat myself to the real thing and find out if they are worth the high prices. Yes they certainty do. No hot spots, better results at lower heat, tight lids that allow even lower heats due to fantastic heat retention (just use a higher initial temperature put the lid on and reduce to low/medium and you get a better result than having to use med/high on other less efficient wares)

I got the same satisfaction than when I decided to buy chef quality knives ... Once you cut and dice with a "real pro knife" you know why it cost $250.

I think of these pots as an investment and a heirloom to pass on to my kids. These things are so well built that you know they will last forever (proper care of course)

I read reviews stating that you will do just as good with the classic trii-ply stainless but these are truly a step ahead. How can two layers of aluminum not be better than one? It keeps a uniform heat over the entire surface and sides at lower temperatures, perfect for braising, slow cooking, stews etc and also quickly searing and pan frying without hot spots trying to shuffle the food around so that each gets a shot at it ... With these the heat is uniform all around, just don't crowed the pieces during the searing process.

Yep I did pay a small fortune for a custom hand picked set but these are worth every penny.

Btw don't get drawn into buying the "sets" you don't really save much except if you really need the huge 8 and 12 qt stock pots and prefer frying pans over skillets.

I selected the 11 and 13 inch skillets with lids, the 1.5 and 3 qt sauce pans, the 3qt casserole steamer combo, the 4 qt sauté pan, the 6 qt deep sauté pot and 6 qt fry basket. That's the equivalent of 16 pieces for the price of their advertised 14 piece set. FYI I keep my Emeril's 6 qt stock pot that I will use for deep frying on my induction portable burner (it has a copper core and I won't suffer if it gets stained with grease frying at higher temperatures)

I prefer skillets and after researching realized that the 13 inch can also be used as a paella pan as they are similar except for the handle.

Word of caution, these are heavy, best suited for men or strong women not afraid to handle them.

I was a little hesitant to purchase any Easistore products after reading the "easiburn" review here. But, I needed to purchase cookware that was able to be used with an induction stove, was interested in an eco-friendly product, and I wanted to get a nesting set because I have very limited storage space. And, boy, do these nest! The amount of space saved is amazing. No more wrestling 2 or 3 pots out of the way to get to the skillet.

There is absolutely no design flaw with the lids. They do hold the moisture in and "seal" well. There is a small round hole in the steel rim of the top of the lid. This allows a tiny amount of steam to escape, just enough to allow for simmering without a rattling or bumping lid. I cooked applesauce in these and did not lose any moisture. I think you would be able to steam vegetables or rice with this, but as they teach in Home Ec 1, the right tool for the right job. Get a rice steamer if you really want to steam. Besides, you can't have a lid that seals that tightly or you have a closed expanding system -that's the reason you have those wingnuts on a pressure cooker. To keep the lid from flying off! Basic physics. The second hole is actually a cut out in the interior rim of the lid and does not allow moisture to escape as it is entirely within the pot when the lid is on and is not a hole to the exterior as long as you do not line it up with the handle (only applicable in the larger size). There is an arrow engraved on the top of the lid to easily identify where this opening is. It is there to allow for closer stacking -lets the handles through from the smaller pots.

The second design flaw claim does have a bit of validity. However, it is one pan out of the set the 3 quart. No tight sealing lid, outside a pressure cooker (see above), is going to prevent boilover. My first reaction to boilover is to lift the lid to release the pressure, which usually stops the boiling over. If you do lift the pot, I could see that the handle might be hot. Knowing that this is a possibility and reducing boilovers makes this a non-issue in my opinion.

I have found these to be quality cookware and have not had any problems with them. Glad I bought them. Amazon does not always have the lowest price. Check motherearthnews.com they had them 50% off in November. Only giving 4 stars because these are made in China, not locally in the US.

I was excited to buy this product, I loved the looks and the e-use of materials. But the design has 2 big cooking flaws. First, the lids have vent holes in the top and side (I assume the side hole is for draining out cooking liquids) which prevents them from being tight-fitting, steam retentive lids. No cooking rice or steaming anything with these. One of the things they teach in Home Ec 1 is to buy a pan with a tight, moisture retentive lid.

More serious is the larger pan, the bottom one of the nest. It has a handle that extends straight from the edge of the pan, and the handle is trough-shaped, with a hanging hole a couple of inches from the end. Problem is, if you have a boil-over in this pan, the scalding liquid travels past the pan edge (no tight lid to stop this) and right up the trough, then exits at the hole. Any cook knows a first reaction to this occurrence is to pull the pan off the heat, which puts your hand in the path of the scalding liquid exiting the hanging hole. Unexpected and unsafe.

This is not 'green' cookware. I ordered some pots and the glass & steel lids have a plastic knob (verified by the manufacturer) that wraps into the inside of the lid. If you cook with the lid on, the moisture condensation will expose your food to a significant amount of plastic. If you want to avoid possible toxins from plastic cookware, this product is not for you.

I paid $10 shipping for this product and to return it, Natural Home insists I pay the return shipping too. So I either keep the pots and don't use the lids, or I return them and am out $20-$25 shipping costs for nothing but wasted time and money.

My 2 quart sauce pan leaks through the welds where the rivets hold the handle in place. I didn't notice until my return time had expired and I haven't been able to find any way to contact the manufacturer online about what I can do to replace the defective pot. The only reason I didn't give it a one star is that the other pieces seem to work for now. Again, I think the concept is great, they just need to be made better.

UPDATE:

I finally found my package insert with the customer service number (don't know why but I couldn't find it on the net). They couldn't replace the 2 qt pan by itself so they sent me a new 2 and 3 qt set free of charge. I can't help but say customer service was exceptional. The new pan works great, no leaks!

I peel hundreds of pounds of potatoes every day at our restaurant, and I love my Oxo Peeler. All we make is Belgian Frites, and all we use to make them is fresh potatoes, a deep fryer, some oil, and this amazing Oxo peeler.

This is an excessive amount of use, I know, but under all this stress, only one thing has gone wrong with this peeler. Unfortunately, it's potato-eye remover has started to crack a little bit. I doubt this would happen under normal usage, but two hundred pounds of potatoes a day for a year would put stress on any peeler.

If you are a restaurant peeling potatoes by hand, as we do, buy a few because the eye remover is really useful but it wears out. This feature does make peeling faster, and wastes less potato then just peeling down past the eye. This is definitely the best peeler you can buy, and for normal household use I bet the eye remover would never wear out.

I purchased the OXO Good Grips Peeler back in 2000 and I have been using it ever since with no problems whatsoever. I originally bought it to replace the peeler that came in my Culinary School tool kit. That peeler had broken after only a month of use. But I have used the OXO peeler ever since, going on 5 years now. It feels great in my hands and peels potatoes, carrots and other vegetables perfectly. While I was in school my classmates were constantly borrowing this from me and asking me where I bought it. Even one of my Chef instructors loved it and would use it from time to time. After my 8+ year old OXO Peeler started getting a little dull I thought it would be just a matter of ordering another OXO Good Grip Peeler and it would be the same. I thought wrong, after 3 New OXO Peelers in the last 3 weeks including the Pro-Line these new OXO peelers will barely peel Warm butter much less a Broccoli stalk or stem. I can see 1 being dull but not 3, there is a serious breakdown in the Quality Control Division at OXO. All the places that have sold or given me replacement peelers have had great customer service it's just the sorry product that's the problem. OXO had my 'Brand Loyalty', now it has completely lost it. I took a magnifying glass and compared my old OXO to ALL 3 new OXO Peelers and the angle that the blade is cut is the difference. The old OXO is cut at an angle where as all three new OXO Peelers the blade is cut straight across whereby there is no way it can dig into the skin of a broccoli stem or even a carrot. I tried one last peeler via Amazon made by J. A. Henckels called the Henckels Twin Cuisine Swivel Peeler and it will get 5 stars, it is wonderful, just like my old OXO was when it was new. Spend the extra money and get a great quality peeler and a hell of a lot less headaches, it was a real nightmare!!!!!!!!!

I recently bought my second Oxo Good Grips-I bought the first one in 1990 or so...I lost the first peeler (still working perfectly) just recently so I bought a new one to replace it and now I'm sorry to report that this new one is certainly inferior to my first Oxo Good Grips swivel peeler. Maybe the company was sold-something has caused the quality to drop so I have my mind set on a different brand that I'll be getting soon. I wish I were giving Oxo GG a splendid review! I have other Oxo products and though most I got awhile ago, they work well.

I love these dishes. I am floored when people say it's "not really large enough for pasta"...how much pasta do you people eat??? These bowls are the perfect size, sort of like a lunch plate with sides. We use them for SO many things. Helpings of casserole, a piece of meat with a helping of veggies alongside, even apple dumplings and ice cream. I use them for scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, and we really love using them for spaghetti because the sides lend you a hand when twirling the pasta on your fork...and the size is big enough for quite a large portion of pasta (you can always get seconds). Add to that the fact that they are simply beautiful...there's no going wrong with these!

I am updating my Kitchen and needed to add some sliding organizers for pots and pans. The units are heavy duty as noted by other reviewers and are better quality than the ones at the home supply stores. The slides have quality bearings in them which makes usage easy no matter the weight in the organizer. The only thing that keeps this from a 5 star is the difficulty of installation since the organizer cannot separate from the slides. I was going to put one under my sink but I was concerned if I had to get to the plumbing I would have to uninstall the entire unit.

These are easy to install, solidly constructed, and do a good job of allowing the utilization of deep cabinets. However, the pictures provided of the product show the sliding rails vertically oriented and connected to each other as part of a sub-frame for the basket. That would have been a great and sturdy design. But the actual product has the rails horizontally oriented, which means the basket droops significantly when fully extended. We used these for our pantry, but unfortunately we can't load them with anything dense like cans due to this dumb design. I would have returned them for this reason if I thought I'd have another free weekend coming up soon to install a different product.

I know these will be with me for years to come. The full-extension is great and they are able to accomidate the many skillets and saucepans that I use reguarly. Amazon's price is about the same if not less that others, but with the free shipping you can't beat it!

I installed two of these in our cabinets. The instructions were reasonably clear, though a template would have been helpful.

These are of sturdy construction, and the (full) glides are smooth.

I gave only 4 stars because the quality assurance could have been just a little better. They are about 1/8" inch wider than the claimed 14-1/2, which could make a difference if the cabinet opening is a little smaller than usual. On very close inspection, the shaping of the wires is not exactly even in the vertical plane, so there is just a little bowing in the top wire. It does not detract from the appearance or function, it might even add strength, but don't expect close tolerance on the dimensions.

I purchased 3 of these drawers to go in a pantry that I had to nearly empty every time I needed something in the back. These drawers installed easily and glide smoothly. The baskets DO come off the track if you want them to for installation purposes. I installed 3 and didn't do any of them the same way twice, but I'm no carpenter and managed to do just fine.

One of the drawers contains all of my baking items: sugar, flour etc and is holding a substantial amount of weight. That one glides just the same as the one with pastas and boxed items.

I found the price on Amazon better than these items that were selling locally but I still hate spending that much money on something so "practical". They solved my frustration from digging through my pantry every time I cooked though, so I guess it was all worth it.

I've used my LeCreuset for many years and find it excellent for making dishes that require long slow cooking because of its ability to keep an even temperature w/o hotspots. Although I confess a bias towards unenamaled cast iron pots, they can't be used for acidic dishes such as tomato sauces. When I cook acidic foods, I happily rely upon my LeCreuset pans for good results.

My only reason for not giving this product 5 stars is that the enamel has a small susceptability to chipping. This is a minor annoyance and shouldn't discourage anyone.

Last I agree with another reviewer who said this brand it the best. Imitiations I have used have not performed as well.

If you are thinking of buying this soup pot don't think twice. Pricey but VERY nice. It's a perfect size for soup for two. I have a smooth electric stove top. Maybe some of you have noticed, with this type stove, it's hard to keep a simmer going if you lift the lid to peek. This pan holds a steady heat creating delicious soups and stews.My husband loved the results so much, he had me order the round French oven.I'll buy more of this cookware and throw out 28 years of accumulated stainless steel and non-stick pans. I'd suggest looking at your current cookware, decide what you use the MOST (daily?) and start replacing those pieces today. You won't regret it.As for looks and design,it's beautiful. I have Chestnut Brown and Flame pieces.It's too pretty to hide in the cupboard! Amazon has the best prices on this cookware.

My wife loves this cookware. It keeps the heat very well and it is excellent at browning meat (as opposed to burning the meat). She also loves that it cooks the food evenly, which other pots have not done well (She has tried teflon and copper pots and they do not do a good job in this area). She heartily recommends this product.

We use this soup pot for just about everything. It's the perfect size for making a sauce or cooking vegetables. We have a small minimalist kitchen with only 3 pots (2 LeCreuset and 1 Lodge)and probably use this one most often. It cleans up easily. For food that adheres or even burns, just soak it in water for about 1/2 hour and it comes clean with a regular sponge, soap, and water. The drawbacks are the price and the inability to use metal utensils with it. Every few months we clean the outside with a scouring pad to retain its beautiful glaze.

As someone getting up in years and not in the best of health, this item is something that I wish I had when I started using my cast iron skillets on a glass-topped range. A full 10 or 12 inch cast skillet is more than I can handle gracefully with one hand and this holder is much better than even a silicone hot pad. I'm going to get another, so I can cook with with 2 large skillets at once. If you are buying a large skillet, get one of these assist handle holders and a silicone handle cover with it.

I bought two of these, one for each skillet I own. I probably should have done a little measuring first but was surprised when I received these and found out that the handle on my medium (10") skillet is smaller than the handle on the large (12") skillet. It sitll functions, but just doesn't sit perrfectly. It would be GREAT if Lodge tweaked these a bit a lip on the bottom edge to prevent knuckles curling around the handle and hitting the skillet, and also a bump or button in the middle of these to go up into the hole in the handle, to hold it on and prevent it sliding off. They definitely are handy to have, especially as my husband tries to make breakfast with the kids they are prone to reaching for things without thinking first so we've stuck these on all handles. Bottom line, they're handy but not perfect.

I have cooked with cast iron for years so I was skeptical of this "handle holder." I must also say that I am not a fan of silicone, if you get a cheaper product, and I don't mean price, then you won't be happy.

Having said that, I really like this product. I can grab my pots, either on the stove top or in the oven, and be confident that it won't slip or burn my hand. If you place the holders, I bought 2, on the handle correctly which is VERY easy then It really does "assist" your ability to safely and securely grab the pot!

I will definitely be purchasing some of these for my family and friends who also use cast iron. Yes, I would use these camping as well.

Some details -

trying to pick up a cast iron pot, pan etc... using just one of these with a pot will not work. I'm 5'3", 122lbs and over 50 :), so I like to hold both sides.

You can use 2 of these on pots with assist handles OR

you can use 1 of these along with the Lodge silicone hot frying pan holder. I'm happy with both!

Clarification this will not work on a frying pan or traditional "pot" handle only the side assist handles.

Works well and lets very little heat through the Silicone. Note though; It should not be left in place while cooking.

One slight downside is the little hole on the outer edge of the bottom piece of Silicone. Depending on the pan you use this holder on, you do have to be careful not to pick up a hot pan with your finger over the hole! Its about 1/8" in diameter (its where the product tag was attached) and is just big enough to let your skin touch a red hot piece of metal pan if you are not careful.

Although I'm not a big fan of the name behind the brand, I have to admit, kudos to the manufacturer. Not only is this skillet a great concept-it saves time, as well as, the hassle of hand-washing an extra pot-but the quality is pretty outstanding compared to similar pans at a higher price point. Keep in mind it takes some getting used to (you have to make sure what you are cooking on each side requires similar heat). I would also recommend using silicone utensils over nylon. It definitely supports the non-stick surface and will save your cookware. Great product so far.

I really like this pan. So far so good. I have only had it for about 2 months but it has held up to my "Gotta burn something" tradition...lol. I have a family of 4 and I like the idea of being able to make 2 different style eggs for my picky eaters. Non-stick so far is living up to its' name so far. Hope it stays that way.

This is the greatest cookware I've seen in a long time. It's so easy to cook two things at once and dirty only one pan. This is also wonderful when you are cooking for more than 1 if one person doesn't like something (like tomatoes). You can just split it up in the pan and add tomatoes to one side!

From the picture online, the stem and base of the flutes appeared white with silver accents, however, they are actually all silver with the raised designs in stem having a brushed silver effect. Although they looked different from the picture I had imagined, they are very beautiful and I could not be more pleased with them. They are extremely elegant and exactly what I needed for my wedding. I love the flutes. I bought them for my wedding to match the Lenox Unity candle holder I purchased. I received the flutes which were well packaged, box undamaged inside and out, but one of the flutes had separated from its base. The glass had broken so its not like I could just glue it back together and hope it would be okay. I'm a little upset since a previous customer mentioned this happening after a couple uses but I didn't imagine it happening straight out of the box.

Honestly it will just be used for our wedding and maybe anniversaries. Thats all I need it to stand up for. Then it can stay in a china cabinet.
