My Viking BBQ grill can get extremely hot (that's good!!) but I could only stand a second or so of it with my bare hands and arms. This long reach tong is just the answer. Did not give it a 5 Star rating because there is a "lock" at the base of the handle that often would lock the tongs closed while using them, but that is good when storing them.

just bought an inductive cooktop and now we have to replace a number os non-inductive aluminum content pots including mama's favorite littler saucepan. Could not imagine how difficult it weas to find a 1 quart saucepan so we settled for this 1 1/2 quart sauce pan. It is designed to work on an inductive cook top. It is very neat, clean, the inside is graduated with marks for measuring, a pouring lip and it has a very attractive see thru glass top. perfect except: if you use it on a gas range, the hot gases from the flame wrap up around the sides of the pot and some of them rise up where the handle is. Since there is no sufficient cutout where the hollow handle meets the side of the potm the hot gases travel up the handle and make it hand-burning hot. Not a problem with other kinds of heat sources, though.

The whistling sound is a little odd; not what I expected. It sounded like moaning pipes; had to get used to it. As one reviewer pointed out, that could be a good thing, though; not shrill. I have not had any problems with the melting cap as the one reviewer said, but it is plastic and now that I know I will take extra precautions. My big problem with this teakettle is Amazon, not the item; this, my first experience with buying from Amazon, left a bad impression. They sent me a defective one with dented lid (someone else's return?) so the lid couldn't be seated on the kettle, then shipped a replacement that had some kind of manufacturing crud or warehouse glue all over the outside of the base. Not just dirt to be washed off. Some kind of adhesive or gum that had hardened. I combined the good base of the first one, with the good lid of the second one, and shipped back the defective. Amazon got a little confused and emailed me to say a refund check was on the way, which I declined; but in the refund invoice itemization I noticed they charged me a "restocking fee" for THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCTs!! Wow that's some nerve, adding insult to injury. Also the original offer was for free shipping; the refund invoice also included a charge for revocation of the free shipping. I just simply don't appreciate being shipped defects, TWICE. And, if this HAD been a real refund situation that was due to a defective product (i.e if I hadn't wanted the replacement), then I would have felt ripped off with their "restocking fees" (you can't restock a DEFECT; hello! obviously, just a gotcha fee) and I would have felt ripped off with bait-and-switch of quote, "free" shipping charges. I feel fortunate to have learned these things about Amazon when it wasn't to my detriment, before they were able to raid my pocket; and wanted to pass the warning on.

I'm sorry I bought it, It is hard to believe that, in a country that has made teapots for millenia, coupled with first-rate Corelle, they come up with a nice-looking, but non-functional teapot. It drips. The whistler is a low grade plastic that melts with the steam heat. If you're looking for something pretty and don't mind the lack of functionality, but it. If you're a tea drinker, look elsewhere!

This is a well-made, beautiful teakettle. It makes a really loud whistle that is quite unique. The only problem I have with it is it is rather difficult to pour from; easy to spill, but I think once you get the hang of it, it's okay.

The pros:

This kettle is attractive, looks nice on the stove, and seems to show water spots and smudges much less than a stainless steel or brightly-colored enamel kettle often will.

The "whistle" is really more of a harmonica it sounds a two-note chord that's a lot lower pitched than a typical kettle whistle. I guess that's a little unusual, but I don't see it as a negative.

It's easier to get the lid off to fill or clean this kettle than with some others I've owned.

The cons:

It is a bit difficult to open the kettle to pour from it, because the finger-hold on the whistle is too close to the steam holes, so becomes too hot to open with a bare finger. Thus this kettle is difficult to pour one-handed. It really needs one hand to hold the handle and another with a potholder to open the spout.

I'm a little dissapointed also in the quality of the purple plastic parts. This plastic has a somewhat "cheap" look to it it's light-weight/thin and both the kettle handle and lid handle have visible, slightly raised seams in the plastic. In the photos the quality looks a little bit better. If I'd seen it first-hand I probably wouldn't have chosen this.

Also the purple isn't really as dark as in the photos it's more of a light lilac.

There was a warning sticker on the kettle stating that it should not be used on high heat on a gas stove I'd imagine that may be the cause of some buyers' issues with melting of the plastic parts.

I was looking for months at cookware. Been to many stores (W&S, Sur La Table, etc). I knew I wanted fully clad cookware. My options came down to All Clad, Henkels, and some others. However, what I really needed was just a deep skillet, and I could find only 2, a Caphalon non-stick, and this Anolon. I chose the Anolon because it was clad stainless steel.

One thing I really like about this pan is the handle. Very comfortable curve and silicone grip. The domed top also is convenient.

However, the black ribbon on the outside, while kinda cool looking, I think Anolon just put it there to save money on the stainless steel.

The pan was not as heavy as I thought it would be, at least compared to a similarly sized/spec'd All Clad pan. What this tells me is that the aluminum core is very thin. Which is obvious if you compare it to an actual All Clad pan. The All Clad (I'm talking Stainless or LTD) is much thicker and heftier. Now, all this could be rendered moot if the performance was great.....

The performance is not great. For starters, after the VERY FIRST time I used it, there were burn marks on the bottom. I have one of those glass cook tops and I set it to medium, and when I was cleaning the pan, I noticed several burn marks on the bottom. Continuing, after searing some steaks, and washing the pan, it left an outline of the steaks. I scrubbed as much as I could, but it wouldn't go away. However, since then, and cooking many other things, either the outline went away, or there were so many other outlines that it is just one hazy mess. Lastly, heat retention is not great. Just yesterday, I was searing some small hunks of beef to make a pasta sauce. The hunks were about 1 inch cubes, or so. The first couple sizzled when I put them on, but as I put more on, they stopped sizzling. The meat was room temp. None of the pieces were seared very well. They browned, but I couldn't get that crusty sear I was going for. Plus, when I was making the sauce, the sides didn't seem very hot. I was able to see my sauce bubbling, but only at the center. Maybe my expectations were too high. I was expecting to see the entire pan bubbling because of heat radiating from the sides.

Overall, while the shape is exactly what I am looking for, I would not recommend this pan to anyone. If you want the same shape (a hybrid of a skillet and saute pan) and you want stainless, this is really your only option. However (I've used the word a lot in this review) if you don't need that particular shape, look somewhere else. I bought a small saucepan from Henkels, and that also has a great handle, and is much thicker, clad, stainless, and performs well. For the price (about 80% as much as an All Clad 12" saute, but more expensive than a Henkels 12" saute) you lose performance. However, the All Clads are made in the USA, and the Henkels are made in China. You pay for made in USA, though (and I hate, Hate, HATE the All Clad handles). If you want to really splurge, go for some Vikings or Demeyers.

Out of all the options, I think Henkels gives you the best value for your money, if you are looking for clad, stainless cookware.

First the things I like...the pan is nice and heafty and well balanced. It's made in the USA. It heats evenly and does a great job baking cookies, and other dough items....actually everything I've baked on it. Now my big beef with this product! I wouldn't feel comfortable putting any food DIRECTLY on this pan. Every time you wash it...(and I do follow recommended instructions and wash by hand)...everything turns a muddy gray...the sponge, the rinse water, your hands, everything. It's even hard to wash the gray off your hands after your done. I hate that so just won't let food actually cook on the surface. I'll always use parchment paper. Don't trust all that gray metallic colored residue that comes off in the washing process.

Update Feb 20, 2012: I sent Nordic Ware an e-mail asking if they could explain the reason for all the gray metal color all over everything when I wash this pan. I told them I was very happy to buy a pan made in the USA and the product did perform flawlessly. I was just concerned about all the leaching of whatever it is. Never got a reply.

Update Nov 19, 2012: After almost a year someone commented on my feedback suggesting I try contacting Nordic Ware customer service again. Thank you Bon!! I felt it only fair to try again since so many people love this sheet. Low and behold I received a quick reply. After explaining the situation, they e-mailed a form to fill out and mail in. I just got an e-mail saying they received it, reviewed the information, and they're sending me a new pan because THE GRAYING I'M EXPERIENCING IS NOT NORMAL. I don't know what happened to my original e-mails but based on THIS customer service experience with Nordic, I'd say it was a flawless experience. The service was friendly, quick, and fair. As soon as I receive the new sheet, I'll wash it, use it, wash it one more time and then report back. I suspect it will be a totally different experience this time....the way we do it here IN THE USA!!!!

Update Dec 3, 2012: I have received the replacement half sheet. After washing several times I have no problem with gray residue. I'm convinced the first sheet I received was defective. This one is perfect...just what I expected from Nordic Ware. This is a company no one should ever be concerned about dealing with. They stand behind their products and, not only deliver quality products, but back them with quality customer service. I'm a believer.

Sick of cheapie "cookie sheets" that buckle when you use them and only last a couple of years? Spend a little and get a pro 1/2 sheet pan. It's very sturdy and will probably last a home user a lifetime (heck, they last years in commercial kitchens). Fits in standard home ovens.

Every single other cookie/baking sheet I've owned has made that dreaded "bong" sound within minutes of being put in an oven hotter than 300 degrees. It's annoying, it makes the food slide around, and it cannot be good for the pan to warp and unwarp like that. So this time I went looking for professional bakeware. I love Nordic Ware; they make quality stuff without charging you an arm and a leg. These work perfectly. They fit well into my standard home oven (plenty of space around it for proper air circulation), they brown my cookies beautifully on the bottom, and the rolled edge seems pretty sturdy. The only negative thing I will say is the gauge could be a little thicker. I'm used to Nordic Ware products being extremely heavy; and while these are certainly heavier than your average cookie sheet, they are not as heavy as I expected. Batch after batch of holiday cooking doesn't lie, however. Everything has come out perfect, so maybe the gauge isn't such a big deal after all.

Just a side note, whenever I cook something on any cookie/baking sheet, I always cover it in parchment or foil. It makes clean up easier, and spares the pans the greasy, ever-darkening coating of oil otherwise needed. I would suggest it personally.

11/15/11 update still use it and no rust (some cheap aluminum tends to rust. there are large stains from cooking, but i use them all the time. i love them and will get new ones when these go. i wash them in the dishwasher every time. so far, i've probably washed them 30-40 times. still love them.

2/1/13 update still no rust. large dark spots that are somewhat sticky even after they have been in the dishwasher. i use them often. tried to use EasyOff to clean it really well, but does not work as good as i hoped. But i use them for bacon, cooking fish, asparagus, etc.... would buy them again.

I shopped online for good measuring spoons for some time. After sitting and debating with myself, for what seemed like hours, I took the plunge and bought them....And I am sooo glad I did!

After working with all different types of meas. spoons plastic, copper, silicone etc. these spoons are here to stay in my utensil drawer until I die, and they will last that long!

They have a great sturdy construction, they are NOT flimsy by any means. The long handle make them perfect for reaching into containers to scoop out your ingredients, like baking powder/soda, cornstarch etc.

The brushed handles make them less slippery to hold, while the polished spoons let ingredients slip out nicely. I also live in the country, and I have hard water, after having so many kitchen items say "stainless steel" on them, only to have them rust anyway. These spoons have not rusted at all, so they are indeed STAINLESS!

I personally don't like spending a lot of money on such things, but these spoons are worth every penny.

I purchased this cast iron pizza set not sure how I would utilize it. I had also purchased a book Pizza on the Grill (excellent also). Well a few mistakes on my grilling meant I used my cast iron pizza pan and the great pizza peel. In fact the pizza peel in this set got my poor pizza off the grill with no problems. Then I finished cooking my pizza on the cast iron pan in the oven. It was perfect. Then I put on my pizza pan to cut up my home made pizza. This pizza grill is the best. I haven't used it in the oven yet, only the bbq, but bet it would be delicious. It has grooves over half so the pizza doesn't fall off, but is flat at one part to easily slide the pizza into the pizza plate. The pizza plate is also great, perfect to use with a pizza cutting wheel and you don't have the pizza sliding all over the place. I was worried it would get scratched but it didn't at all. And the wooden pizza paddle is cute. I would definitely recommend buying this.

Wusthof's reputation for quality knives, coupled with easy cleaning, sold me on this kitchen shears.

Contrary to the description, no plastic cap or screw removal is involved... over the normal cutting range of motion, these function just like any other quality kitchen shears... but thanks to some very nice machining of the joint, they come apart if the blades are opened all the way to 90 degrees.

The bevel machined into the joint seems to clamp the blades together as the shears are reassembled, ensuring that the blades fit closely and cut well. The handle is comfortable and symmetrical, so it should fit left or right hand equally well.

Perhaps shears aren't quite so glamorous as forged knives, but this is a well thought-out product and well worth the price.

There's a recipe I do that requires me to butterfly a chicken essentially cutting out the backbone. I've done it with cheaper German-made kitchen shears and it actually broke in my hand. This Wüsthof is a must have for this recipe it works very well. And the clean up is really easy: just take it apart and wash. Simple, easy to clean, tough, and essential.

I read a lot of reviews before I purchased these shears. The thing that was mentioned over and over again was how easy they came apart for cleaning. What they didn't say is the the shear come apart constantly when you're using them. For example: I was cutting an uncooked chicken apart and the shears opened (fell apart) 7 times. It was very aggravating. The plus size of the shears is that they ARE very sharp and should be easy to keep sharpened. I've opted to buy a different brand and style.

These replace an old pair of Fiskars shears, and it is useful to note a couple of differences between the Wusthof and Fiskars products. The Fiskars had a larger handle for the fingers and a smaller one for the thumb. The Wusthof is a totally symmetrical design, so it doesn't matter how you pick them up (nice when I am in a hurry) and left-handers can use them as easily as right-handers. Both come apart, but the Fiskars had a large and kind of awkward looking pivot while the Wusthof shears have a smaller and smooth joint better because it doesn't catch on things when you cut and it won't trap dirt. I looked at a couple of other shears when I bought the Wusthof's. One pair had a bottle opener, and I was concerned this would catch on things and collect dirt. The Henckel Twinshear was certainly nice, but pretty pricey at $50.

The Wusthof shears are positively reviewed by America's Test Kitchen and this is deserved. They are a quality product. They are made of German Solingen steel, which is a high quality steel that holds an edge well. The blades have small serrations and there is a section near the pivot for cutting more difficult objects (e.g., chicken bones). They cut very well. To me,they are a good size not too large or small. There is a pliers-like area below the handle that is intended to help with opening bottles. I have pretty large hands and find the shears fit comfortably.

These shears come apart easily for cleaning and, as other reviewers noted, the pivot joint is beveled to tighten the blades as they slide together. One reviewer noted that they are dishwasher-safe. I was always told that you don't want to put cutting blades in the dishwasher because it diminishes the tempering of the steel. Wusthof recommends hand-washing and I will be following that advice (as I do with all my knives, food processor blades, etc.).

Overall, I am very pleased with these shears. They are moderately priced, work well, and look like they will last many years.

These are essential shears. Scissors that do not come apart are not good for food; because, the food gets stuck and rots. These scissors come apart when you fully open them; and, they clean VERY easily. .

Followup: After washing in dishwasher; these rust. I bought some kitchenaid scissors for a tenth of the price that do not rust.
