The Enclume pot rack is a very well made and reasonably priced product particularly the hammered steel version. It is easy to assemble, very stable, and a real boon to those who might be short of cabinet space in which to hide their pots and pans. The only advice i would give is to avoid at all costs hanging this rack in sheet rock only with the supplied fasteners. Hang it instead with the furnished wood screw hooks from wooden ceiling joists. While the rack itself weighs only 40 pounds, adorned with pots and pans it could easily top out over two hundred pounds. Obviously the Enclume marketing department wanted to sell more racks even to those who did not hace well situated joists to hang them from. Not a good idea.

Very nice looking pot rack. Lots of storage space. Easy to install (did it myself, and it hasn't fallen down yet!). Gives the kitchen a new look. We love it.

Cheap KitchenAid Teakettle 1-1/2-Quart Porcelain Enamel on Steel Curling

KitchenAid Teakettle 1-1/2-Quart Porcelain Enamel on Steel Curling Kettle, Green Apple

I am surprised at all the bad reviews this kettle gets. Just search the other colors to see what I mean. Yes the handle get hot, but I have always used a kitchen towel when using any tea kettle. Whistle is loud, but not too loud, pours without spilling water and the lid comes off and on easily and seals well. The size is perfect for using with my 8 cup Chemex and Bodum Chambord 8 cup French Press.

Anyhow, looking at all the negative reviews, looks like many of the issues are with people filling it past the fill line. Been using mine for three months and it works as good as the day I got it.

Teapot is perfect size for 4. Looks good, whistle is loud. Just don't fill it to the absolute top or it will spit before you remove it from heat (as will all teapots). Easy to pour; would recommend.

Best Deals for KitchenAid Teakettle 1-1/2-Quart Porcelain Enamel on Steel Curling

I got this tea kettle because a friend of mine had the exact same one. Her's whistles just fine. For some reason, mine whistles, but not as loudly. The whole reason I got a tea kettle was because, before, I was boiling water for tea on the stove in a simple pot. I would often go to another room to wait for it to boil, and forget about it, only to come back to a fully evaporated pot... not good for the cookware at all! not to mention, dangerous as well!

So, the main reason I was looking for was a pot with a loud whistle to basically remind me of my negligence before it was too late.

I can't critique this kettle entirely, as my friend has the exact same one in red, and it whistles just fine, and rather loudly. Maybe there is just a defect in mine. Other than that, the water boils fine, it's nice and well-made.

My only other critique is that the handle is really close to the cover. So, it's a little hard to pull the lid off and pour water inside the pot.

Honest reviews on KitchenAid Teakettle 1-1/2-Quart Porcelain Enamel on Steel Curling

I bought this tea kettle at Target, in this lovely green color. It's beautiful to look at, but that was not my only reason to buy this. I was on the hunt for a tea kettle that has a handle that will not get hot. I've had many, and with each of them, my husband complained about having to use a hot pad to pick it up. "What a terrible design! Don't they know people will pick it by the handle and expect to NOT get burned?!" Well, even when I liked the other tea kettles, I didn't like the complaining ;o) This is the FIRST one that I found that has a handle that doesn't get hot!! Amazing! I have found that if it's fairly full, it WILL get hot. But I only boil enough water for maybe 2 mugs of tea at a time (maybe 3 cups of water), so for me, it never gets hot! Victory!!!! Or so I thought. NOW he complains that it pours terribly, lol. It's true. When it is boiling, and you pour it right away, it spits and spatters ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! I've even burned my hands due to this defect. However, I have found that if I slow down and am patient....let the kettle sit for about 10 seconds, swirl the water around the inside, then pour it VERY slowly to start....then you get a nice and clean pour. He, however, doesn't have that patience ;o) I've told him that it's the first one with a cool handle and I'm NOT getting another, lol. Mine whistles VERY loudly, the kids and animals freak out over it. I never fill a kettle through it's lid, I fill it through the pouring spout, so I don't have any issues with the lid myself. I LOVE the way you open the spout cover, it's easy and comfortable. I use it 3-4 times a day for my tea, and I've had it for about a year. It's still just as pretty as when I took it out of the box. I wish I could give it a 5, but getting burned by boiling water isn't a good design flaw.

These tools don't actually lock in place. They lock open, but 'open' means they have a few milimeters of play between the locking mechanism and the backstop of the handle. That means that when locked open, the end of the tool wiggles separate from the handle. While they look neat, and do take up less space, they are pretty poor at fulfilling their actual purpose. Wiggling tools that don't go exactly where you need them to go is almost worse than no grill tools at all.

You might as well just use a fork and a pocket knife.

Can you tell me how I can get the details? I have called Cuisinart and they say it's not one of their promotions. I tried google search to get an answer and can't seem to find my answer. Thanks!

Honest reviews on Cuisinart 3-Piece Folding Tool Set

The picture suggests to the casual observer that there are 6 pieces to this set. There are only 3. The picture shows them folded and open, not a short and long set.

This set seems quite sturdy and the fact that they fold for easy storage is a big plus in my book. They also have a metal loop for hanging, if you wish to do that.

This is NOT a small sized set for traveling. They are normal sized, with the exception of the wire brush, which is a bit small.

I've only just got them, so I'll try to update this review after using and traveling with them for a time.

This is such a nice tea pot. I did not know it was electric, however, I absolutely love it. The water heats up very quickly. The pot goes on top of the heating element, so you can remove the pot when the water is hot a bring it wherever you want without having to take the cord along.

Honest reviews on Kalorik Pyramid-Shaped Jug Kettle, Red

Picture shows a deep, matte, brushed red. Actual product looks like a cheap, shiny, scratchable, light red plastic (though it is stainless steel).

Picture shows no logo when kettle is viewed from shown angle. Actual product has Kalorik logo from same angle and another Kalorik label when kettle is rotated clockwise 180 degrees.

Picture shows no "hot" symbol. Actual product has triangular "hot" symbol.

Other comments:

Exposed metal portion of handle is scratched and rusted.

Everything else is as depicted.

Bottom line:

Dissatisfied with misleading, photoshopped photo and cheap quality. In utter disbelief at how cheap this looks and feels. Returned.

Chopper works fairly well when meat is in small pieces to begin with. It is necessary to break ground meat up before using. Until the meat is partially cooked it sticks to the chopper. It is necessary to hit the side of the pan to get the meat off. Pam helps to keep the meat from sticking to the chopper.

I bought the Secura Oven last year, my husband and I really enjoy to cook with this oven. Very glad I can also find the accessory set on Amazon, got the package very fast with my Amazon Primary membership

There are 7 accessories in the box:

1. Grill pan, this is my favorite one, because we like grilling a lot, and this grill pan brings us a taste of BBQ right inside home

2. Skewers, very good quality, made of stainless steel, we grills a lot with it, and easy to clean.

3. Pizza pan with hole, this is specially designed for cooking a pizza, the holes help to get a very crispy crust when baking a pizza, if you use the Browning pan which is no holes, you can not get the crust.

4. Browning pan is for making the cakes, also came out perfect every time!

5. steam pan, we don't like steamed food, so I just use it as a fryer basket, very good for baking the French fries with it

6. Breakfast rack is designed for toast the bagels, bread, frozen waffles and pan cakes, and the holes on the side are for cook eggs, well organized and very useful. Perfect!

7. roast rack is supposed to be used with the dual rack, to cook a whole chicken or turkey, Have not got a chance to use it, may be try on Thanksgiving

This accessory set absolutely adds a lot of fun to cooking. GOOD to get one set, worth it!

The Bodum Santos Vacuum Coffeemaker makes excellent coffee. Smooth, full flavored, hot. This model requires more interaction than a percolator or drip coffeemaker. If you're not willing to participate in the coffee making process, don't purchase this coffeemaker. However, the end result is well worth the few extra minutes required. Some tips that may be useful:

1.) Use coarse grinds to avoid clogging the filter;

2.) When placing the upper chamber on the lower carafe, make sure there is a good seal between the two globes, as this will help in the vacuum process;

3.) Always make sure there is at least a centimeter or two of water remaining in the lower carafe, otherwise the carafe will crack;

4.) Allow the water and grinds to mix together in the upper chamber for a minute or two before removing from heat source (coarse grinds produce a weaker flavor compared to finer grinds, so allow a bit more time for the water to extract the flavor of the beans while in the upper chamber);

5.) Remove the entire coffeemaker from the heat source and carefully place on a cool surface, keeping in mind that the coffeemaker will be top heavy and hot;

6.) If the coffee remains in the upper chamber and doesn't completely drain to the bottom carafe, return the entire coffeemaker to the heat source again for a minute, then remove again to a cool surface;

7.) Purchase a good thermos or insulated carafe to transfer your remaining coffee to (Nissan Thermos is a good brand, check out reviews on Amazon.com).

8.) Coffeegeek.com and Coffeekid.com have additional information on vacuum brewing.

Pros: Coffee is hot, full-flavored, and not bitter. The process is fun. Clean up is easy, if done soon after brewing. Affordable from Amazon.com when on sale. Reusable filter. Coffee is hot, full-flavored, and not bitter. (It's worth mentioning twice.)

Cons: Capacity is only 8 cups (32 oz.). Filter can sometimes be unreliable. Uses more grinds than average peculator or drip models. Extra caution needed when using, as most of the coffeemaker is made of glass. Instructions are scant.

Five stars for a wonderful product.

I purchased my unit about a year ago from Amazon.com and after about a month of frustration with the filter constantly clogging, I put it out of sight (out of sight = out of mind). When I could get it to work properly, it was great because the coffee tasted the way it smelled wonderful. But, it was simply not worth the time and effort to get one pot out of 15 to brew properly. I tried burr grinders and the inexpensive type grinders. I tried coarse grind, medium grind, fine grind and everything in between with no success.

About two-months ago I remembered I had the Bodum Coffeemaker and so I decided to revisit the task of trying to make a 'perfect cup of coffee and it worked perfectly!

I use the Bodum Coffeemaker almost every day now and it works as advertised 100% of the time. I have developed a system that works for me by taking suggestions from several of the reviews from Amazon.com and from some helpful advice from a Barnies' sales representative about how to store and use coffee beans.

The one thing that I was probably doing wrong the first time was that I listened to a friend who thought he knew about how to store coffee beans. If you want to go from coffee beans to coffee dust, freeze the beans or keep them in the refrigerator I guarantee you that this will work. It does not matter what your grind setting is on your burr grinder because you will get so much dust that the Bodum filter will clog and coffee cannot get sucked back into the lower chamber.

I now keep my coffee beans in an airtight container in the pantry, grind them as needed and then follow these additional procedures to get great tasting coffee every time.

Make sure the seal is clean and dry and the top is pressed firmly down onto the lower unit. I use a gas burner at a medium-high setting and do not use a diffuser. I think that the diffuser may be recommended to help keep the handle cooler in case you do not center the pot over the flame. Also, be sure you put the lid on top of the upper unit. And, do use caution, because the handle does get very warm.

I keep the burner on the same heat setting for 30 seconds after all of the water (except what is below the tube) goes into the upper chamber. There is still a little water left below the tube in the bottom chamber that will continue to boil. Turn the burner off after about 30 seconds, remove the upper chamber lid, and you can do one of two things at this point. If you do not want to move the coffeemaker while the top is full, just leave it on the burner and in a couple of minutes, the burner grate will cool enough to create the vacumm in the lower unit. If you want to cut a minute or two off of the procedure, use a oven mitt to hold the handle with one hand while you use the other hand to 'stablize' the top and move the coffeemaker to an adjacent cold burner.

I can actually hear air being sucked into the lower chamber after all of the liquid has been removed from the upper chamber, which takes less than 10-15 seconds once it starts. I then use an oven mitt to hold the handle, remove the top chamber and put it in its neat holder, and pour my eight cups of great tasting coffee into my twenty-five year old Stanley stainless steel thermos. I now have great tasting coffee all day long.

After the top and bottom units have cooled, I remove the filter and clean both chambers being careful to not bang them against anything hard. The glass is thin, which it has to be, but seems pretty durable.

I give the unit five stars because I am the one who caused most, if not all, of the original problems by improperly storing the coffee beans which resulted in a lot of dust when they were ground. The taste of the coffee made by this unit warrants five stars.

I cannot rave enough about this treasure made in Copenhagen. I have used every conceivable type of coffee maker in the past, but this one is simply the best I have ever used. It is beautiful to look at, very easy to use and clean, and makes the best cup of coffee I have ever tasted. I ordered the electric version of this brand, but when it arrived, it had a defect, so I returned it immediately. I am so happy I didn't order the electric one because it was twice the amount of money that I paid for the non-electric one. I am going to tell all my friends about it--unfortunately you can't buy it in any stores, only through Amazon.com. Congratulations on carrying this absolute gem of a coffee maker!! Joanne Evens, Granite Bay, CA

Honest reviews on Bodum Santos Stovetop Glass Vacuum 34-Ounce Coffee Maker

This is really the way to make the best cup of coffee on a machine that costs less than $1000 dollars. I'm not kidding. When this device works correctly, it give you the best tasting, clearest (no sediment) and prettiest cup of coffee you have ever tasted Even Using The CHEAPEST Beans or Grinds!

PROBLEMS:

1. The spring loaded filtering device, although increadibly simple and easy to use and maintain did not work consistantly for me. Sometimes I would get a lot of sediment, sometimes crystal clear rich brown red coffee (perfect). Sometimes the top globe would drain completely (as it should) and sometimes only half way. I tried various grind coursness, filter adjustment, etc and never could get consistancy.

2. The handle needs to be longer and rounder. It is too short for the weight and feels awkward in the hand because of the way the bottom is cut out and shaped in general.

3. Glass broke on the bottom of the 2 pots. I left it on the stove and boiled out all of the water. 2 pots of coffee later a thin long crack developed leaking the coffee out on to my burner. Would like to see a little thicker glass.

4. Instruction book too skimpy especially for a coffee making technique that few have been exposed to.

5. The plastic stand for the upper glass globe should have a wider base to prohibit tipping.

GOOD THINGS:

1. The glass, although thin is pretty durable (in spite of it cracking on me after leaving it on the burner too long). It is really beautiful glass, even rings when you dry it with a microfibre cloth! Has a high clarity and shine.

2. It is easy to clean. Comes apart in seconds, rinse out, dry (works best with a microfibre cloth I found) and your done. I leave it out because I like the looks of it and people always ask what the heck it is!

3. It is easy and fast to use. Takes a few minutes to dump in the coffee and water (in separate glass globes/pots) and put together and start the coffee making process. It takes a few more minutes to have the coffee sucked into the lower pot and be ready to pour. Probably a 10 minute process total.

4.It's inexpensive! 40 bucks!

5. Makes the one of the best cup of coffee you've ever had even using the cheapest beans or grinds! In fact, I made better coffee at times using cheap grind over using custom roasted fresh expensive beans ground right before I put them in the pot. My suggestion, buy Kroger's brand standard beans (right from the grocery store at about $2.50 a pound), grind them right before you're ready to make your coffee and enjoy.

Summary, Bodum needs to tweak this product a bit. I'm searching on-line for another brand of vacuum pot today to replace my broken $40.00 bodum so I can compare.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Bodum Santos Stovetop Glass Vacuum 34-Ounce Coffee Maker

I live with a former barrista and coffee guru. He makes the coffee in our house, and he has that magic touch. According to my bean baron, the Santos is the best coffee maker he's ever used. I tend to agree; the Santos gets the most out of the bean's essence and preserves the delicate oils and acids that make for a superb cup.

Some caveats with this pot: this pot is made of GLASS. That's a good thing--plastic is less desirable as it tends to grab coffee oils onto its surface. Glass is about as inert as you can get. So, being GLASS, this pot requires care in use. It is a bit top-heavy and the tube leading to the lower chamber is apt to chip if you are careless with the spring-held filter device, which separates the upper brewing chamber from the lower serving and heating pot.

And this is a stovetop device, requiring attention to the flame or temperature of your electric element. No plug-and-play here, so this is best for entertaining or weekend enjoyment. For weekdays, I stick with our electric filter machine, which the Guru sets up for me the night before so I can stumble into the kitchen at dawn and press a button to get my caffeine dose. But...when we want exquisite gourmet coffee, this is the one we pull down from the shelf.

I went to Macy's and compared this twin pack to the sold separately 10 and 12 inch skillets; the skillets in the twin pack were much thinner and lighter.

This twin pack may be a good deal on its own, but know that you're getting light weight skillets.

The scam is that neither Anolon nor Amazon mentions the difference in design.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I have several Anolon Advanced pans and skillets and like them all very much. There is nothing 'wrong' with this set, but the pans are NOT as heavy as some of the other pans. I was initially disappointed by that since I really like the hefty feel of my other Anolon Advanced pans. That's why I'm giving it a "Almost Great" rating. I will say that the pans do seem to work just as well as the others I have. And the quality seems just as good. I DO wish, however, that it had been noted in the product write up that these pans are not the same thickness/weight as the others. So, if you are picky about things like that as I am, then this is your warning. If you don't care about weight or thickness, then I'd say you will love these pans. Again, the quality is there, the nonstick works great, and they are wonderful to work with. For those new to Anolon Advanced, be warned that you absolutely can NOT use high temps on any of the pans. Preheat your pans to a medium setting first and you'll have the best results. These pans DO hold temperature really well and will get very hot, even on a medium setting. Enjoy!

Best Deals for Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Inch and 12-Inch Skillets

I've used Anolon Advanced for years and needed to replace 3 of my pans. I ordered them offline after reading the description which was described exactly as my original pans but alas, they're not. The 10" is almost 1/2 the weight of the original pan and I don't like the feel of the new non-stick pans.. it's very rough. I will return these and look to another line of cookware for the same weight pans that Anolon used to offer. What a shame, I loved my Anolon cookware!

Honest reviews on Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Inch and 12-Inch Skillets

I bought these and the Anolon Advanced 8-Inch Open French Skillet, sold individually. They are nowhere near the quality of the 8-inch. They are lighter than the 8-inch (6 lbs total vs. 4.4 lbs). Also, unlike the 8-inch, the non-stick surface is gritty, like fine sandpaper. Returned the twin pack without using them and bought the Anolon Advanced 10-Inch Open French Skillet, sold individually. It's 4 lbs, and I assume the non-stick surface will be more like the 8-inch. Decided I didn't need the Anolon Advanced 12-Inch Open French Skillet, sold individually, which is 6.6 lbs.

I was delighted at the price of this item, as I had purchased the same brand years ago and had worked through the teflon on some of my saute pans. What arrived was not at all the same quality or heft of what I had before, even though the brand is exactly the same. This pan is still well made, but I don't get the same sense of confidence that it will heat evenly as I do with the older models of the same pan.

Purchased the T-Fal pan to replace an older T-Fal pan. I wanted a pan which had smaller diameter that would fit/cover the large burner on our electric cooktop. The pan fits perfectly. Heats up rapidly and maintains constant heat. The large handle and auxilliary front handle are great when cooking/serving large dishes such as beef stew, cabbage and sausage and preparing any large dish. The glass dome cover contains moisture from cooking while venting enough steam to prevent overcooking. My only negative comment would be that the cover handle is small and you can burn yourself . Other than this the oan is a winner!

Honest reviews on Jamie Oliver by T-fal C9423364 Nonstick Hard Anodized Thermo-Spot

Bought a set plus this and another for my daughter in law. Love them. Absolutely nothing bad to say. I wish they made another fry pan just a little larger than this one, I'd buy it too

I bought this to go with a set of 12 I believe of almost identical pans. I thought this was about the only thing I thought the set needed to make it complete for my kitchen. I cook a lot of large meals so there's leftovers to make other nights easy. And what can I say except this pan is perfect! I couldn't be happier. The size is great for my needs. The second handle is very useful because of course if I'm cooking a lot of food in it it will be heavy so using both handles to pick it up adds more stability. Nothing sticks in it and it's very easy to clean. I think this pan would make a great addition to anyone's kitchen.

I have another pan of this size that is Teflon coated. We use it all the time. It was used improperly a few times for searing meat which started to damage the Teflon. I purchased this to have a sauté pan with a stainless surface. The aluminum on the pan is thick enough to prevent hot spots, but I do wish it was a bit thicker. The anodized outer surface seems nice and is easy to clean. The handle doesn't get significantly hot to bother me. Overall, exactly what I expected. Great pan and a great price.

I wanted a covered, inexpensive, but not unattractive pot to hold scraps until I was ready to take them to the compost. I didn't want to spend $30 or $40 for the little pots with charcoal filters--seems to me that if you need a filter to control odors, you should be taking your compost out more often. This holds about 4 quarts, so it's big enough to hold the vegetable trimmings for most cooking jobs.

I bought this thinking that all graniteware is made in the USA-WRONG! This pot is made in Mexico & states in the bottom left of the label. I noticed other graniteware's labels are shown in the listings, but not this one. This one gets returned because I trusted Amazon information & thought I was buying made in USA. Granted, this may be a first for Amazon as I've never had issues of this type before. I cook a lot & want quality cookware. I feel this wouldn't hold up to the Graniteware quality and name. Sorry, but I'm just not happy.

We received this saucier as a wedding gift from a friend, and she really knew what she was doing when she bought this pan! The heat distribution on this thing is incredible, so you don't get the typical "hot" and "cold" spots as you would with cheaper cookware. The weight is substantial, but not too much even for a petite person such as me to handle, lift, or hand wash. The little vent hole in the lid is a nice touch, and the colors (we have flame) will really brighten things up around your kitchen. It is well worth the money to purchase this pan, especially since it has a 101 year warranty.

Beautiful pan, a joy to cook with(I use it every day).

Solid and sturdy, but not too heavy to lift with one hand.

Great for sauces. stews and soups.

Goes from stovetop to oven to table. the knob on the lid is happy up to 400 degrees, but I usually put a piece of foil over it if it needs to be covered.

Cleans up easily. Best to wash it by hand and towel dry thoroughly. (per instructions).

I have found it best to use butter rather than oil when sauteeing meat. The first time I used it was for scratch made marinara sauce and I used a dab of butter to sautee bacon( fat cut off) and it worked perfectly, no sticking at all.

The second time I used oil to sautee the bacon and it started sticking a little. After scraping the pan with a wooden spoon to unstick the bacon, I added a dab of butter and no more sticking!

Since butter rather than oil is most commonly used in traditional french cooking, I'm assuming the pans are designed to work best with butter? You only need a dab of butter so it's not really a health issue. Now I know why my mother( who was half french) always insisted on using butter rather than oil in her Le Creuset pans! After 40 plus years of daily use, my mother's Le Creuset pans are finally due for retirement(Boo hoo!) $200 is a lot of money for a pan, but if you can get 40 years of use out of them, it's well worth it.
