Review of Bialetti 10-Inch Aeternum Easy Saute Pan, Blue

I had non stick pans that were losing their coating which made me nervous. Were we eating that coating? I did a lot of research and this pan was very highly recommended. It exceeded my expectations. It cooks great and cleans up like a dream. I love it.

I thought this pan would be perfect for eggs and breakfast stuff. Seemed great for the first couple of months, but then slowly I started noticing little pinhole pits in the ceramic coating. I have been nothing but extremely and overly "delicate" with this. Always washed separately to ensure nothing banged into the ceramic coating. I use nothing but bamboo and silicone utensils to cook so there should be no reason for this pitting. I think I'll stick to classic indestructible stainless steel and cast iron. I'm about done with all these "cookware fads" of disposable cookware.

I've been using this regularly for about a month now and I have to say that it's pretty fantastic. It's great looking (I got the blue) and nothing sticks to it. I still give it a quick spritz of non-stick spray but that's more habit than necessity. It really is a great value and a well made, durable product.

Honest reviews on Bialetti 10-Inch Aeternum Easy Saute Pan, Blue

I have had this pan for well over one year.

**When I need to sear, I use a stainless or cast iron pan.**

It STAYS on my stovetop, almost all of the time (cleaned).

I use it everyday.

I use no more than Medium Heat ever.

I do not overheat while preheating.

I use a VERY light coating of oil, or residual oil from previous cooking.

I wipe it clean with a paper towel when possible (usually).

If needed, I wipe it with a sponge under tap water.

If xtra crusty, I soak before sponging (rare!)

I NEVER use any sort of scrubbing surface.

I only occasionally use soap.

With the above care, this go-to pan looks and cooks as if brand-new.

This pan is not only easy to clean up but you can actually brown food in it. I made home fry's that came out golden and crispy. High heat was not needed to obtain this. Nothing burned. You do need to be careful not to use metal and I wouldn't stack other pans inside it unless you have something soft in between.

I love this pan except that I have had to be careful what I cook in it. It's good for braising and for slow baking but it can be difficult to clean at times. Food particles can collect in the honey comb pattern on the bottom of the pan and they can be difficult to get out. Using plenty of moisture when cooking with this pan is key. The points in the lid of the pan help distribute the moisture back to the food. The pan is a nice weight and I prefer the side handles over a long pan handle. The handles don't take up any space so it's easy to use on the stove, in an oven, and make it very easy to store the pan without worrying about needing space for a long handle to take up. All in all, I am happy with this pan.

I just purchased this pan to replace the saute/braiser pan that I had, a Calphalon pan that was looking dismal after 2 years of nearly daily use. I was trying to decide between Le Creuset (I have their 7 qt dutch oven that I also adore) and this pan. I decided to take the leap from LC to Staub and have been very happy with this pan. So far the big differences I have noticed between LC and the Staub have been that the Staub has 2 small handles on the side versus the long handle on the LC that can bump into things and crowd the range just like my Calphalon pan did. It is lighter weight than its LC counterpart (I was at an upscale cookware store checking them out in person). Not to say that the Staub is by any means a light panits cast iron and still weighs a ton, just slightly less than the LC saute pan I handled at the store. The BIG thing that I really like is that the interior of the Staub is a matte black ceramic. Despite my best efforts with my LC dutch oven, eventually the cream colored enamel did become stained. Its only aesthetic, but it does make the dutch oven seam dirty even when it is not. That won't be a problem at all with the Staub pan.

If you need a braiser/saute pan, I would definitely give this pan consideration, especially if you like to cook with ceramic/enamel cookware and are accustomed to the special care they need. This pan is serving me very well already and I wish I had ditched my Calphalon anodized aluminum pan sooner! And the color I pickedsapphire blueis stunning and cheery in my kitchen!

It's suitable size to use in common house. This product's gradation is so artistic that it's beautiful whenever I see.

So I put this pan on the stove. I'm very satisfied with this pan.

Honest reviews on Staub 2.5-Quart Hexagon Saute Pan/Braiser

When I first purchased this Staub braiser (I own the 7 qt oval cocotte), I was a little wary because of the other reviews. I've owned this item for almost four months, and can say that I'm not sure why others have problems with sticking food or have difficulty with cleaning. I have cooked all sorts of meat (except fish), vegetables and rice dishes and have not had a problem with sticking. I use it for everything, from browning beef to making tikka masala, to pan frying chicken. For cleanup, I simply fill it with water, and let it sit for an hour or so and then everything wipes off perfectly with a paper towel.

I love love love this braiser and am so happy that I purchased it!

I use this almost everyday because the size is perfect for a meal and leftovers. My biased opinion is that food tastes better when cooked in a cast iron pot, and so far my meals have turned out wonderfully delicious. Curries, stews to frying baked potatoes and onions ... It is truly a versatile kitchen must have. This is my fourth Staub purchase and I love the brand.

I have only owned it for 6 weeks, so I can't address long term qualities. It is a fairly heavy pan. The balance is good (ie the handle weight doesn't make it unsteady on the burner like one fry pan I have). The non-stick surface has worked well so far. The lid fits tight. I like the lid being glass. Someone complained the lid doesn't have a vent. I prefer no vent unless its closable. I can set the lid off center if I want it venting. The pan won't make you a good cook, but if you have some skills, it will help you achieve your goal. Compared to other non-stick pans I have used, I consider it to be decent quality. At the price, its a bargain. I sought it out after reading a cooking website review. Oh, last point. Unlike my cast iron skillet which I still continue to use faithfully, the pan's handle and lid's handle remain quite cool while in use. Very good design. Happy cooking!

Update February 2013: I still have this pan and use it constantly. It is still in great condition.

We love our eggs and raise our own chickens. Prior to this every pan we've tried has stuck and omelettes have been a mess. Not with this one. Gorgeous, non stick pan and we have not seasoned it once. Cleans up in a jiff with warm water and a sponge. Love it!!

Best Deals for Simply Calphalon Nonstick 10-Inch Covered Omelette Pan

I purchased this Simply Calphalon Nonstick 10-inch Covered Omlette Pan in June, 2009, and it worked really well for about six months: it heated evenly and released eggs easily. I used it only once or twice a week, mostly for omelettes, and always with a nylon spatula. After a year, however, the non-stick surface had pitted in many places, and by mid-January, 2011, I had worn away a bare metal patch the size of a credit card. That is poor performance for a $40 pan, so I replaced it with a T-Fal Professional Total Nonstick 10 inch saute pan, manufacture's model number E9380564, at only $28 from Amazon. The T-Fal pan was well reviewed by Cooks Illustrated, and it looks good so far, but I'll wait and see how it holds up. [I added the manufacture's model number because it is very confusing to figure out which T-Fal pan is which; they all have similar names.]

Honest reviews on Simply Calphalon Nonstick 10-Inch Covered Omelette Pan

video gives you a good idea of the size. I've always used nonstick pans, and have had good results in the past with Calphalon. the main thing to remember with any non-stick pan is do NOT use aerosol spray type oils. that will ruin the nonstick surface quickly. keep in mind also that this pan is not the top of the line pan. the Calphalon pans with the stainless steel handles are of higher quality. I bought this particular pan because I wanted a 10" size, and the Calphalon Unision wasn't offered at a reasonable price when I purchased this pan. this is an inexpensive no-frills lightweight pan that has a nice touch. Overall, I like it.

I wish I could rate this as high as the others have but I simply can't. This is my second one and on both, I lost a bit of the non-stick surface. Both times it was frying italian sausage under medium high heat. Worked great up to that point.

I have had many bakeware pieces over the years, but I can honestly say this one is my favorite. The price was great and the free shipping and handling was an added bonus. I was also pleasantly surprised how fast I received this item. This bakeware is very large and is perfect for large families and special occasions. All the bakeware colors are beautiful, but I decided on the green because this color would compliment all festive occasions. The clean-up is unbelievable. The first time I used the piece I did not spray with PAM and I thought I made a mistake, but the majority of the baked on food wiped out very easily. There were only a few spots, I used a nylon scrubbie, but there was very little scrubbing needed. The next dish I cooked I used Pam and everything wiped out of the baker without any scrubbing. Besides the easy clean-up, food seems to taste better. I am so impressed with the bakeware that I just ordered the 1 and 1.5 quart bakers. Love everything about the baker, but wish a cover for refrigerator storage was available.

I initially loved this baker, it was large enough for almost anything. However as others have stated some stains were difficult to remove. Also it was not something I would use at a temperature of 425 or more. I rated the item one star because after 5 months, I was baking some garlic bread in the baker and when I tried to pull the pan out of the oven the pan split in half. I never dropped the pan or put it in the dishwasher. The product is defective and I would not recommend.

I have a great deal of Rachael Ray's bakeware and have NO complaints about any of it. They are wonderful pieces and well worth the money but amazon sent me a 4.5 qt. baker instead of the 3 qt. as they advertise here. Amazing that I am the only one to mention this. Just giving buyers a heads up!

Honest reviews on Rachael Ray Bubble and Browns 3-Quart Large Oval Stoneware Bakers

I've seen the dimensions for this item and it's the same size as my 4.5 quart bubble and brown oval baker. I ordered it from another site, thinking it was a 3 quart as per their listing, but I was sent the 4.5 quart. Even the receipt said it was a 3 quart, but it wasn't. I kept it and I've tried getting the 3 quart size on several different sites and they are all listing this item as a 3 quart, but when you check the dimensions, it is indeed 4.5 quarts. I have a 2.25 quart which is too small to serve 4 people and the 4.5 quart is too large. I find it strange that a 3 quart is not available. Has anyone actually seen a 3 quart? I don't want to order it again and end up with another 4.5 quart. I'd like to know why different sites are erroneously listing this large baker as a 3 quart.

Love this bakeware, its gorgeous and a fantastic size for casseroles or just about anything!

Extremely versatile we've done everything from dips to casseroles to fries to homemade pizza (yep it worked really well) in this thing!

Notes:

it is large so it may be hard to find a place to store this if you don't have a lot of cabinet room.

It can also be tough to clean at times but it is dishwasher safe, I just find that if we've baked something with cheese or a batter that gets on the edges and such that you may have to hand scrub it even after a dishwasher session.

I plan on picking up other bubble n brown items when $ permits!

I am a loyal Kitchen Aid fan, and have almost all of their countertop appliances. I have always been impressed with their customer service. However, I bought this immersion blender a little over a year ago, and TWICE the part that attaches the blender section to the motor section has cracked. They replaced it the first time, but this time, because it's out of warranty I would have to buy the replacement part at the same cost as buying this entire one new. Prior to this safety issue, it worked well and I really liked it. This is my first disappointment with a Kitchen Aid product, but this particular blender does not warrant anything more than 2 stars.

I love this immersion blender! I had a small HB plastic blender to mix protein drinks rather than haul out the big blender. It did the job, but was flimsy. This KitchenAid immersion blender comes with a large cup with rubber on the botton to prevent slipping on the counter, and is large enough for mixing the protein drinks, and wide enough that the immersion blender does not toss any of the contents. I highly recommend it!

Best Deals for KitchenAid KHB1231 2-Speed Immersion Blender

I just bought this blender at a retail store and I am pretty disapointed. I bought it to puree my sons baby food. I was making sweet potatoes and I had to use both hands to hold the mixer together while I was mixing because it kept detaching and I had to hold the button to blend. I wish the lock feature was better ( not just magnetic with a little twist)and you didn't have to hold the button down while you blended. I am bummed :(

I have another pan of this size that is Teflon coated. We use it all the time. It was used improperly a few times for searing meat which started to damage the Teflon. I purchased this to have a sauté pan with a stainless surface. The aluminum on the pan is thick enough to prevent hot spots, but I do wish it was a bit thicker. The anodized outer surface seems nice and is easy to clean. The handle doesn't get significantly hot to bother me. Overall, exactly what I expected. Great pan and a great price.

There isn't much I can say besides that it does just what you expect it to do. It works, it seals fine, it keeps pressure fine. It works as a water bath canner just fine. Really, it does what it needs to do. I've put up about 300 cans so far and it's doing just fine. (from applesauce to grape juice to green beans to venison)

My sister got the All American Canner and we canned side by side a lot so we could compare the two. Here's what we noticed the difference are:

All American is a heavier pot. She can make applesauce in hers w/o burning the bottom (I burned mine), but I can use the Presto one on my glass top oven which she can't do with her All American because of how heavy it is.

The All american has a bit of a domed lid which means she can fit one more can in hers than I can. Somehow, since the middle is higher, we had an instance where hers was able to fit the combinations of stacked jars and my Presto wasn't.

The All American is a weighted gauge canner, while this Presto one is a dial gauge canner. In my estimation, that means the All American needs less babysitting than the Presto. I had to keep adjusting the heat under my Presto to make sure I wasn't getting it too high or letting it fall too low. She could put her weight on the canner and walk away knowing it would stay at 10 lbs w/o much fuss.

And finally, the All American has a handle on the top that makes transporting it much easier.

All that being said: they canned exactly the same. Every time we canned side by side, the time to bring them up to pressure, the time to can, and the time to bring them back down took exactly the same amount of time.

I had to go with the Presto because of my glass top range. I like the details about the All American better, but like I said, this one works perfectly.

I received this as a gift 3 years ago. Since then, I have canned just about everything you can imagine in it. The only complaint I have is that the outside spots up and the inside stains, but I guess it's from all the use. I would definitely buy another one of these, but I think mine will last for years.

Honest reviews on Presto 22-Quart Aluminum Pressure Cooker/Canner

This my first canner and I am very pleased with it. Found it easy to use and have canned 10 jars of chili and I am ready for more. Also this package came with 5 piece canning kit and Blue ball book with it and is very helpful.

This pressure canner came very well wrapped and secured. It is beautiful and I love the little instruction booklet that came with it.

The last canner I bought had a big ole book that was complicated and I never did figure out how to use the thing.

In this new canner booklet each fruit or vegetable has its own instructions giving time limits and pressure amounts. I have already successfully used it twice.

The book also explains care and replacement parts options. It even told me how to protect my stove top. I am very pleased with this pressure canner.

I've used other loaf pans, metal ones that were good quality, and others not as good. This one beats those hands down. I received mine yesterday and made a turkey meatloaf. Came out great! Cleanup was a breeze even though it looked like it was burned on the sides. After cleanup, it looked like new. And the feel of this is very nice and hefty, it certainly feels like a quality piece. I ordered this tea kettle after reading so many negative reviews about others and because I wanted brushed stainless to match my toaster. This is nice looking, not sleek, but has a pretty brushed finish with a shiny bottom band. The handle does not get too hot to touch and the spout release works without touching any hot parts. It gives a whistle as promised. Like other kettles, the manufacturer advises against leaving standing water when not in use. I propped open the tight fitting lid to allow air drying. So we will see about durability, but so far it is a good choice for a roomy and functional pot.

I had this kettle for three months now and use it often. It boils water rapidly. 10 seconds after a flame is applied I can hear it working. The handle does get warm when water is boiled. As long as you keep your hands on the grip you won't feel the burn. The grip on the finger trigger does tend to slide off sometimes. It is easy to fill and clean. As long as you don't leave water in it for an extended period of time you should not have issues with rust. I left water in this one for two days and did not encounter any rust. Stainless steel will eventually rust if exposed to water for long periods. Just remember to dry it out when not using it in the near future as the instruction imply.

I use this tea kettle to make boiling water for ice tea in connection with an induction cooktop. The tea kettle is perfect for that use. It fills completely a 96 glass pitcher to which I add the boiling water and the tea bags to make my tea. The stainless steel has a nice hefty feel to it, and materials the tea kettle is made of and the workmanship seem first class.

Love it! Water heats up quickly and the handle stays cool. I have had no problems pouring boiling water. I saw a couple of reviews where they thought the handle was too hot to pour immediately, but I have not encountered this.

There is a little slippage with the tab on the pour trigger. Easy to just push back up when I feel it is slipping and IMO, not a big deal. I just check it when I put the kettle on the stove.

Kettle looks great and a nice whistle to it. No problems with rust, but I always wipe dry anything stainless after using.

I bought this chafing dish for the holidays anticipating lots of family to entertain. It made keeping food warm for a crowd an easy task! This is an excellent chafing dish and heavy duty quality. Food doesn't dry out and the two compartments for fuel work very well and control the amount of heat to the pan of water below the food. The pan that holds the food holds a generous 24 cups of food and could probably hold more than this. This chafer is an excellent purchase if you want to serve a crowd of people.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I've go to admit, I have quite the collection of chafing dishes. Several models and sizes, do the amount of entertaining we do. I have some that cost a few hundred dollars, and I also purchased 2 of these at what I consider to be a very reasonable price. These chafer's function just as well as my very expensive chafer's. However, at a fraction of the cost. These chafer's will also accommodate all the optional chafing insert pans that my expensive chafer's use as well. So, these are very versatile depending on your food serving needs.

I noticed a comment regarding the proper water level to use, and maintain. Usually 3" of water is enough to maintain a consistent hot/safe food serving temperature, for about 4 to 4.5 hours of in use time. Its best to very HOT tap water when filling your chafer, as it takes less time and fuel/sterno to heat up the unit. Once the water and food items are HOT. I usually run the unit with only one sterno/fuel cell (centered). And this not only reduces excess steam, but also allows the unit to warm food longer, about 6 hours. Without the need to add additional water. It can be a bit of a task, if you need to add water, especially if the food trays still have food in them. I use my chafer's for entertaining indoors as well as outdoors. Once you start using chafer's, you're going to find, you have a lot more time to spend with your guests. Great price, great product. Enjoy!

Best Deals for Winware 8 Qt Stainless Steel Chafer, Full Size Chafer

I bought both the traditional lidded Winware chafer (this item) and Winware's rolltop chafer. I was hoping the traditional chafer would meet my needs because it is about $100 cheaper, but alas, it looked and felt $100 cheaper. This traditional chafer is OK in its style and function, but is only suitable for casual parties and family get-togethers, in my opinion. The finish is not as shiny as the official image would suggest. Mine came with a fairly matte steel finish (like a steel refrigerator). The particular chafer I received had a significant quarter-sized mar in the finish that would be obvious to anyone using the chafer, so if you buy this be sure to check it carefully when it arrives. The rolltop is much, much more elegant with an awesome mirror finish, solid (heavy) construction, smooth rolling lid (so guests can open lid and serve themselves with one hand while holding a plate), and a large smooth handle that you could wrap a party-themed cloth around (like restaurants do). If you're getting a chafer for a casual Superbowl party or teen event, this traditional chafer would be just fine. I have not yet used either one so I have no opinion as to warming level, but I will update this if I encounter any problems with the rolltop. Also, I can't comment on whether the finishes hold up over time. I will be keeping the rolltop as we sometimes host fairly elegant parties and I think the rolltop will make the serving area "pop" due to its high quality and mirror finish.

Honest reviews on Winware 8 Qt Stainless Steel Chafer, Full Size Chafer

I purchased 2 of these chafers for a party I was hosting at home. They worked very well at keeping my food warm and were the perfect size. The box said it came with 2 handles, a plastic black one that already came attached and a stainless steel one; however, the stainless steel handle was not included. Not a big deal since I wasn't anticipating it when I ordered them. At the end of the night, I found that one of the handles has broken off as well. The plastic handle doesn't seem to be sufficient for a lot of use, but hopefully an easy fix by going to a hardware store buying a replacement. Overall, I was very happy with the product that I received for the price that I paid.

I purchased 3 of these and used them last nite for the first time, at a party we threw. They worked wonderfully! My only critique is that there are no instructions included, I know how they work, but I would have liked to have some guidence on how much water to add to the steam pan. I added too much to the first one, and steam was pouring out the sides and then it was a pain to remove the food pan and remove some of the water. I guess that will be a matter of trial and error.

I use this cleaver regularly when cutting chicken up including chopping through bones when prepping for stock. It works very well, is a great weight, heavy enough to cut without becoming tiring. I have brought it with me half way around the world, which should speak for it usefulness.

It chops bones, bangs through half frozen carcasses when necessary and is worth every penny.

Above is my original review, now I must amend that. The cleaver broke in half. No, I didn't use it drive nails or cut rebar. The thickest bones it ran into would be in a pork chop. Not even a thick cut pork chop at that. But it split in half just above the handle just where the transition to the blade occurs. Quite surprising and totally unacceptable for a product of this price range. If you see one cheap at a yard sale, buy it. Otherwise, don't bang your bank balance too deep.

I have, sadly, totally revised my view of Global and their quality assurance.

Top rated by Cooks Illustrated. Great balance. Cuts easily through bones. My first practice ended up with some nice marks in my wooden chopping board. Will last a very, very long time.

Save your chefs knife and use this to cut through bones.

Best Deals for Global G-12 - 6 1/2 inch, 16cm Meat Cleaver

I purchased this cleaver about 2 years ago, specifically to hack bones for stock (thank you, Edna Lewis! Best recipe EVER!). Perfect balance, weight, sharpness this cleaver is truly exceptional such a pleasure to use. The current price is kind of a "yikes!" moment, but you get what you pay for. I have no doubt that this cleaver will outlast me, and that's worth 145 bucks. Seriously, I make stock once a month. So in the first year, this cleaver adds $11 for each batch of stock (which still comes out less expensive than that supermarket crap). Over 10 years, it drops to a buck a month. And this cleaver will last much, much longer than 10 years. This is an investment, which is why it will never be available at throwaway Wal-Mart. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Honest reviews on Global G-12 - 6 1/2 inch, 16cm Meat Cleaver

While this piece lacks the razor sharpness of other Global offerings, it makes up for it by being able to split bone without chipping. I've only used it on poultry to date, but I have no doubt it'd be able to hack through larger game without issue. I still prefer the butcher's bone saw for chops, but when appearances don't count there's no beating the noble cleaver.

Mine arrived very sharp. Perfect for shaving meat. I use a Chicago heavy duty cleaver for brute jobs, I bang on it with dead blow hammer when needed. The Global is reserved for more refined tasks, like taking a chicken apart or making jerky. I touch up the edge with a Global diamond steel. Actually handier that a Chefs knife for many jobs.
