... because it's a pot for god's sake. Anyway, it is as billed. A heavy cast iron enamelled dutch oven that you can stick in the oven. Too obvious? For a non-cook like me, the whole braising concept was only an emerging idea. But it works. Things turn out so good, and it has nothing to do with my skill level. Every meal should basically start with tossing bacon, a bottle of wine, and some meat into a big pot and coming back four hours later. You can't go wrong. And... I'm going there. It's pretty. It's red and shiny and I like it the way I liked matchbox cars when I was a kid. I don't even put it in the cabinet. It sits on top of a shelf in full view. So go ahead, spend too much money on a pot. You'll justify it with occasionally cooking pasta sauce in it, and say, "See! It was worth it! We use it all the time!" It's not just for braising!

Not impressed with the enamel-coated finish; appears to be refurbished or factory-second. Not what I had expected from top of line cookware. Maybe the cocotte I received was a lemon, as most reviewers have high admiration for the fit and finish of Staub.

Final purchase price at Amazon was less than $100 with shipping included. While the pits and surface imperfections in the exterior enamel finish may not affect the cooking process, this could lead to more serious issues later in the form of rust or bacteria. So far, the only issues are superficial or cosmetic, but I have requested a replacement in hopes of getting an unblemish cocotte I can proudly display.

PS The added bonus; a Staub silicon kitchen spoon and magnetic trivet was a welcome addition at no additional charge, however the value of $45.00 placed on the two items were so extreme honestly I would have preferred them lower the price of the pot then give away gimmicks to make you think you are getting a good deal and to top it off the Trivet you would think would be round like the pot to place the pot on instead it is oval and too small to do a lot with, if the items weren't free you can bet I would have never bought them at that price especially for something that isn't the same dimensions as the pot I am buying obviously I would have bought a round one common sense!

Krups has done a great job with this tea kettle! This item makes a perfect cup of tea! I was not so sure about purchasing it since it is a new item and hadn't been reviewed before. It arrived in just two days and I used it immediately. It is very simple to use. So simple that you wonder why it cost $100. But really, that's a good thing. You are definitely paying for the quality and it is very well constructed. I wasn't sure if the infuser basket was glass or plastic. Turned out it is plastic. The directions talked about a plastic taste that you may experience at first use, but I heated and disposed of two kettles of water with the infuser lowered prior to actually brewing tea and I experienced no plastic taste at all. I would hope that Krups would have made the infuser BPA free, but I can't find any evidence either way. The water heats quickly and the multi-temperature function is great for brewing various types of teas. Also, once you brew, the pour spout has a fine mesh screen that will prevent any loose tea debris from escaping into your tea cup. I brew a lot of rooibos tea which is very fine and some of the tea does escape the infuser. The other good thing is that it has a double infuser (a basket that the actual infuser sits in) which allows you to place other items that can use a longer brewing time into the basket prior to lowering the tea infuser. For me, I like to add a little fresh ginger into the basket. Clean up is very easy as well. Only thing is, I would have loved to see some intermediate measurements on the carafe in addition to the max fill line. All in all I've been enjoying this product and would definitely recommend it. It's all a tea lover would ever need to brew a great cup of tea!

I emailed Krups and they said that the plastic infuser for this product is BPA free, but i do wish it was glass or metal instead.

Works great.. only thing that could make it better is a noise to let you know its done heating up.

The Breville model similar to this one has a feature where you can heat in 5 deg increments and a timer to start boiling water for people who want their tea before work etc...and i believe this informs you when its done heating.. but for $230 for the Breville model the Krups is a cheaper alternative.

The tea kettle works great. I don't use the infuser, though i tried it once and it worked fine. i use it as a water heater with different heat settings.

Now for the reason it is not a five star.

the heat settings listed don't match my 2 test thermometers. I wanted a 165 setting that the product doesn't have.

I found that mine actually has one, because all the settings except boil are about 10 degrees lower than the listed temperature, so if i want 165 degree, i set it at 175 and so on.

so, for me it works, just, if you get this product check the temperatures.

Just so you know, i purchased this about a week ago. I do use it about 4 or 5 times a day

Pros:

Very attractive and functional kettle. I especially like the hold temperature setting that keeps the water at the selected temp for an hour great for grabbing that last-minute coffee before heading out the door in the morning. The glass kettle is sturdy and the spout pours well.

Cons:

The base unit quit working after less than six months. Luckily I had registered the product with Krups and they were able to look up my purchase and issue an RMA over the phone without a receipt. They also sent me a pre-paid shipping label to send the kettle to a local authorized repair station. I'm sending it out today for repair/replacement. Hopefully this malfunction is random and not indicative of a design flaw.

UPDATE:

After owning this kettle for six months (including the month or so it was being repaired) the joint where the plastic spout attaches to the glass has begun to leak, which results in a teaspoon of water dribbling onto the counter each time I pour a cup. I hesitate to send it back in for repair because it is twice as fast compared to heating water in the microwave. I will post an update about my experience with customer service in the event I do decide to send it in for repair again!

I had high hopes for this kettle and it certainly delivered! It boils water very quickly. It isn't heavy like I expected (since it's glass) even when it's full. I don't plan to use the tea basket since it's plastic, but it is also very well done. My only complaint is the tiny bit of silicone in the bottom of the kettle, but considering i was using a completely plastic kettle before, this is a major improvement! Having multiple settings for different types of tea is very cool, but i can't say i use it as much as i expected to. It's still nice to have the option though. Love this kettle and highly recommend it!

Months ago I started researching glass storage options after making the decision to completely move away from plastic food storage and this Pyrex glass storage bowl set was exactly what I was looking for.

Pros:

-Both the bowl and lid are freezer, microwave, oven, and top rack dishwasher safe.

-Bowls are made right here in the US.

-They're truly airtight & leak-PROOF, not leak resistant like a lot of other storage containers on the market.

Cons:

-If you have several of the same size bowls, like I do, be aware that they don't stack very well. I wish they would do a slight re-design and "flute" the first inch or so of the bowl so it would allow them to stack/nest into each other.

As has probably been the experience of many others on Amazon, I've had all glass containers, and I've had all plastic containers. And I've used plastic containers like margarine/butter tubs so that they weren't wasted. I've had just about every brand of those plastic matching container sets, including the inexpensive ones and the thicker ones.

Unlike some of the reviewers of the all-glass Anchor Hocking square storage containers, I come from a generation where everyone used those little 'refrigerator' dishes and I realize those can't store air-tight. I have some of the newer, much more expensive Anchor Hocking deco-inspired glass containers and I enjoy and use them all the time. But--they don't seal air-tight, and they are also quite heavy.

Pyrex makes two types of these glass storage containers with see-through tops. One series has a plastic see through window on top with a little tab for venting so that it's microwave safe. Mine like that have blue soft rims to seal the glass bowl. The other type, the ones here, have a glass top insert with red silicone plastic rims to seal to the all glass bowl.

I bought a Pyrex brand measuring cup a few years ago that has a red silicone ring on the bottom, and a red silicone lid to cover the cup. This cup has been used almost daily, dropped countless times, and been through the dishwasher even more. It looks, still, like the day I bought it. That was what motivated me to buy these containers.

They are heavy, but in no way nearly as heavy as the Anchor Hocking containers. Heavier than any of the plastic ones, though. Because the lids are silicone they can even withstand baking in an oven, though why someone would choose to do that is beyond me. Naturally, they're freezer, fridge and microwave safe also. They go through the dishwasher perfectly well, and so far mine have, as with the measuring cup, shown absolutely no wear.

I was just getting creeped out by the way that my plastic containers were looking. I don't know if 'etching' is the proper term, but they certainly were showing use--and I have a bunch of them.

There's no doubt that these are more expensive than plastic. But I don't store as much as I used to and a couple of sets of these are proving to have the best of both worlds--the inertness of glass with foods, and the superb sealing quality of silicone rims.

I just got these recently. I bought them because I wanted to get some non-plastic containers that were microwave and dishwasher safe and liked that these are also oven safe and leak proof.

My main complaint is that the size description is incorrect. They are supposed to be 2 cups, but when I got them they definitely looked smaller. So, I tried measuring out 2 cups of water in a Pyrex measuring cup and pouring it into the container, but I had to stop because it would have spilled over. I had read some of the reviews that these were small, but I bought them anyway, because I thought 2 cups actually meant 2 cups. That's unfortunately not the case here. :(

These bowls are a great size for lunch. I do disagree with the No Leak in the product name. The lids do get loose over time, so make sure you pack them upright in your lunch bag.

I'm not going to bother talking about the dish itself, because it's just your standard Pyrex dish that's been around since the dawn of civilization. The important part is the lid.

Most Tupperware-style lids seal around the outside of the dish. That's fine for plastic dishes, because the dish can flex a bit as you pull the lid off, so the lid doesn't have to stretch in order to come off the top of the dish. Glass, obviously, does not flex -and yet, every airtight glass dish I've seen until now has used a lid that seals around the outside, just like the plastic dishes, except that the lid has to stretch to come off. That makes the lid harder than heck to remove, and it inevitably cracks after a few uses.

What Pyrex has done is something that needed to be done a long time ago. They designed a lid that seals INSIDE the dish, so it can be pulled off easily, and the airtight seal doesn't have to stretch at all. AND, they used silicone to make the flexible part of the lid, so it will basically last forever, because silicone is inert to everything. It's even safe to use in the oven, though I can't think of anything you could actually cook in an airtight dish in the oven -but if you tried, at least the lid wouldn't melt.

I bought a couple of these to test, and so far they've passed with flying colors. The most important test I could think of was the Upside Down Hot Water test -I filled the dish with steaming hot water, put the lid on, turned the dish upside-down in my sink, and shook it vigorously -the lid didn't pop off, not even from the increasing air pressure as the hot water heated the air in the dish, and the seal didn't leak at all. I've been waiting years for glass dishes like these.

I measured this tray to actually be 16x13. I have a standard 18" four drawer base cabinet from a giant DIY home improvement store and this tray fits perfectly (not forced but there isn't any extra room on the sides). This tray also has enough compartments to comfortably fit forks and spoons (two sizes), and knives, (serving ware for 12). The four equal length slots measure 10". The upper slot is also 10" across. This tray is practical, feels sturdy, looks to be top shelf dishwasher safe, and is a very reasonable purchase price. I am very pleased with it.

For years I've hated my silverware tray. This fall I had an epiphany, I'm a grown-up, I shouldn't have to live with an inferior silverware tray! I tried the Madesmart large silverware tray, and am SO happy with it! As much as I hated my old one, I love this one. It happens to fit my drawer perfectly, and keeps my silverware (which doesn't stack particularly well) from sliding around and intermingling. This was the only one that had nice, large-sized compartments and was small enough to fit inside my kitchen drawer. The rubberized lining keeps utensils in place and organized. The top compartment is nice for storing serving utensils and larger kitchen tools. The long side compartment can be used for long kitchen knives and utensils. Rubber feet on the bottom keep the tray in place and prevent it from sliding around when opening and closing the drawer.

This tray is perfect for what I needed! My drawers are extra wide in my kitchen, and I wanted something that would hold the larger utensils that always seem to get shoved wherever they'll fit with the standard sized trays. I love the fact that it doesn't slide around when you open or shut the drawer. The extra space above the forks and spoons are great for the little butter knife and sugar spoon. These bakers are just what I was looking for and couldn't find locally. Even though they were out-of-stock when I placed my order, I received notification that they had come in sooner than expected. I was pleased I didn't have to wait too long. If I had, it would have been worth the wait.

What I particularly like about these bakers is the large size. This adds to their versatility. You can use average sized tortillas if you want a small taco bowl (note: they'll fill less than half way), but you have the option to go large with a burrito size tortilla for a show-stopper, main meal.

I went ahead and baked a couple small shells and in a 400 degree oven for approximately 5 minutes and they came out brown and crunchy. . We'll see how things go and may have to purchase another one to feed the family.

The size of the bottom is 11.25" x 7.5". That's almost 2 inches shorter all arond.

We have had a first Bialetti Arte Deep Sauté pan for 5 years, but it was time to replace it. The teflon at the bottom had worn out and food stuck to it. The old one was "made in Italy" and I was hoping the company still had it made there, but it is very unlikely. The new pan has the same markings underneath except for that "made in Italy", so I can only assume that it was made in China.

The pan does not come with the packaging like on the picture, so there is no information about coating, materials, care, where it was made, etc. While the old pan had teflon ("slippery" non-stick), this one seems to have ceramic non-stick, which is "rough" non-stick. Food will not stick so that's fine. I am glad we bought this pan instead of a more expensive Calphalon pan. The size is just right and the performance/price ratio cannot be beat.

This 40 quart stainless steel stock pot is perfect for stew. We have had it for a while; I'd say we've used it about 40 times, and it is still as nice as the day we got it. It cleans up easily and the lid is a good fit. The handles seem strong--the contents of this giant pot can get pretty heavy! I had to make room in our cabinets for it, so you might consider the size of storing one of these before buying, and get used to lending it out! When my parents or brother decide to make a big pot of chili or soup, they borrow this from me! Great pot! Would buy again!

This has been working to its par but when washed and left to dry .. there seems some water thats retained inside the walls of the casserole. I am not sure if it would affect the durability of the product. It works great for the one month i have been using it.

I bought this turner for my husband who wanted a thin and flexible turner since he makes crepes every weekend. He absolutely loves it! But, after a year of use, the edge was wearing down from the heat. After reading some reviews here on Amazon, I contacted the Zyliss representative in the US and was so amazed by the prompt customer service I received! Not only did they replace the item immediately, they included another product for us to try a slotted turner with a heat-resistant silicone edge Zyliss Silicone Slotted Turner. We haven't used it very long, but it works great as well. Considering the item was only $5 or $6 when I bought it I was impressed by how seriously they took my complaint. I will definitely buy their products again!

If you want a turner for crepes, either of these Zyliss products is great. And you can't argue with a 5 year warranty (on a $6 item). Customer service is impressive!

I like the Idea of this kind of turner. I really like the steel ones but since I have non-stick pans I had to stay with plastic. I normally like Zyliss but lately they've been coming out with duds or not well thought out items. The main complaint about this is the kick up at the tip of the turner. I guess it is made so you can get under things at an tight angle because the side of the pan might get in the way. The problem is is that your food doesn't want to slide easily under the turner and if you have delicate foods like eggs you tend to rip them. The non-delicate foods tend to resist getting on the turner and slides across the pan. It also warps easily.

This is the second disappointment I've had with Zyliss in the past 6 months. The first one was the food temperature probe. I'm thinking twice about buying the next Zyliss item.

I bought this item as a gift. I would not recommend this item for any type of cooking. The first time it was used, it melted on the end. Made a mess of the turner, pan and meal. Very disappointed.

Very Very disappointed in this Zyliss product (Angled Turner) as it was supposed to be heat resistant to 500 deg and it definitely was not. Therefore, I would give the item in question NO STARS and would not recommend it to anyone. I will be contacting Zyliss to see what my next course of action is!

Tip is very weak, if you only use it to make silver dollar size pancakes it might work. It was about as ridiculous as requiring a set number of words for thiis review!!!!!!

The product description does not mention their sizes and they don't have the liter capacity engraved on the bottom like in most pots. They are quite heavy, square shape with a slight curve, with encapsulated base, vented lids and very elegant handles. I cook and serve in them. They are quite nice as serving pieces. I plan to buy a set for my daughter and another one for myself since I cook and entertain a lot.

I love the mirror finish stainless steel on these pots. They are easy to clean and work very well in the dish washer. The price is great for the quality. I've had very many nice sets over the years and this is one of the best, considering the price. Also, it's a bonus to be able to buy the product from Amazon.com with free shipping.

Which is what one of my concerns were when I purchased the set on Overstock & paid twenty dollars more than they are listed here. Still I like the way food cooks evenly. All of the glass lids fit snugly. The pan that is used for "frying" which I don't do much of does show heat discoloration inside bottom of it after my husband fried strips of chicken. The other pans have no discoloration even though I have boiled water (to cook rice)(which turned out perfect & didn't stick)& it looks like new. Clean up is easy. No need to scrub.

I bought the set about four months ago & so far I am pleased with the the look, the feel, the durability & something I totally unexpected is that the stainless steel handles stay cool to the touch!

The glass lids have a small hole in them for the steam escape route which is perfect. The handle of the lids also stay cool.

I grew up cooking with cast iron & stainless steel only. As an adult, I too fell for the "silverstone" cookware. T-FAL was some of the worst silverstone cookware I ever had the displeasure of cooking with. A gift from my dear Dad, I never told him...he was convinced it was great cookware...and now of course we are told it's unhealthy to cook with silverstone. I threw it all out & decided to go back to all stainless steel & cast iron.

I will continue to revamp all of my kitchen wares & gadgets with stainless steel for durability, longevity, & oh yes...I think it is good looking.

Best Deals for Prime Cookware 8 Piece Square Stainless Steel Cookware Set

I practically stole this first set from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $61.99 (which included free shipping). In return for the nearly $30 savings, I had to "contend" with a box that was a little beat-up (but still structurally sound and re-taped closed). I just could not believe what I found when I opened the package. These are absolutely the best ~ not to mention the most gorgeous ~ cookware we have ever owned.

The measurements in another review here are accurate (thanks for that! thanks for ALL the reviews here!), so get a ruler and see just how big they really are. Lovely also that I can use them in the oven ~ no more using two dishes for tuna noodle casserole (the second dish I made witb them), boil the noodles, drain, back into the pot, add the other ingredients, top with bread crumbs or crushed potato chips and into the oven it goes to heat and brown ~ and then comes the best part ~ straight to the table on a hot pad looking like a dish out of the most elegant of restaurants. Like a million dollars ~ or at least like each of them would cost more than the entire set did!

The handles do get hot on my gas stove, but no big deal ~ because they also go into the oven as well. I had been shopping for a dutch oven and skillet that would do double duty in the oven, so this set solved that need as well. Beautifully! And I do mean Beautiful! The glass lids are as gorgeous as the pots and pans, the little vent hole is a blessing. This is a heavy, substantial set ~ recall the shipping weight was a little less than 10 pounds.

And yet another beautiful aspect: they clean up sooooooooo easily! I have had baked-on tuna casserole, potatoes, spaghetti, noodles that actually sat overnight and dried inside ~ and it all came off with just dish detergent in a sink full of hot water (soaked for five whole minutes!) and a slight bit of rubbing with just the dish cloth. I know, they are dishwasher safe, but I just have not been able to bear the thought of putting them into the dishwasher (besides, they are so pretty, I actually enjoy washing them by hand!).

As the "most helpful review" here said, they are extremely sturdy. I was a little concerned about the riveted handles (they could be better with bolts you could tighten later, I would think), so only time will tell if the handles loosen at all. But for now, despite their beauty, these are everyday pots and pans and should be used as such ~ with their elegant looks a great bonus, not to mention that they so far are the easiest of any of my cookware to clean (including the non-stick pots and pans).

Right now, on regular Amazon, they are listed at $89.99 with free shipping ~ we plan on getting at least one more set for ourselves and more as gifts (one set each for our grown children, to start with). I am just thrilled with them. And my husband ~ who loves to cook and does at least half if not more of the cooking around here ~ who is a lot more critical than I am of cookware, etc., is extremely pleased with them as well.

Even canned tomato soup is something a lot more special in these beauties! And Amazon had them here three days after I ordered them! I'm hooked! It's like an elegant dinner party everyday now! Even when it is just canned soup for lunch!

UPDATE: March 24th, 2010 ~ I want to tell you that with the largest pan, after it was used with perhaps a little too high of heat (or placed a little off-center on the gas burner), it developed a large top to bottom darkened mark with a horrid rainbow-like aura on the outside of the pan. I was heart-sick (my husband had made spaghetti in it) however must tell you that I used a ScotchGuard green scrub pad on it with some Dawn dishwashing liquid (I have not yet had the opportunity to get some Bar Keepers Friend as recommended for stainless steel). After just a bit of scrubbing, I was thrilled to see the stain coming off and with a little more rubbing, it all came off and the pan looks like new again. Now, I read a professional chef's review on a set of stainless steel cookware I have been considering and he said (in effect) the heck with the way they look, that being pretty does not mean they are great for cooking. But these are so special and look so great on the table, that I want them to stay nice-looking as best I can. We have done a good bit of serious cooking in them (use them nearly everyday for one thing or another) and that they still look as good as new (and so stunning on the table) is a great plus.
