... because it's a pot for god's sake. Anyway, it is as billed. A heavy cast iron enamelled dutch oven that you can stick in the oven. Too obvious? For a non-cook like me, the whole braising concept was only an emerging idea. But it works. Things turn out so good, and it has nothing to do with my skill level. Every meal should basically start with tossing bacon, a bottle of wine, and some meat into a big pot and coming back four hours later. You can't go wrong. And... I'm going there. It's pretty. It's red and shiny and I like it the way I liked matchbox cars when I was a kid. I don't even put it in the cabinet. It sits on top of a shelf in full view. So go ahead, spend too much money on a pot. You'll justify it with occasionally cooking pasta sauce in it, and say, "See! It was worth it! We use it all the time!" It's not just for braising!

Not impressed with the enamel-coated finish; appears to be refurbished or factory-second. Not what I had expected from top of line cookware. Maybe the cocotte I received was a lemon, as most reviewers have high admiration for the fit and finish of Staub.

Final purchase price at Amazon was less than $100 with shipping included. While the pits and surface imperfections in the exterior enamel finish may not affect the cooking process, this could lead to more serious issues later in the form of rust or bacteria. So far, the only issues are superficial or cosmetic, but I have requested a replacement in hopes of getting an unblemish cocotte I can proudly display.

PS The added bonus; a Staub silicon kitchen spoon and magnetic trivet was a welcome addition at no additional charge, however the value of $45.00 placed on the two items were so extreme honestly I would have preferred them lower the price of the pot then give away gimmicks to make you think you are getting a good deal and to top it off the Trivet you would think would be round like the pot to place the pot on instead it is oval and too small to do a lot with, if the items weren't free you can bet I would have never bought them at that price especially for something that isn't the same dimensions as the pot I am buying obviously I would have bought a round one common sense!

This syrup is exactly what I think of when I imagine summertime blue raspberry snow cones. It's not watery or too thin. It's made at least 30 snow cones, and considering that cones are now ~$4 a pop at the fair, it's well worth the investment. Will DEFINITELY buy again and again.

The picture shows five slices of bacon nicely cooked. four barely fit. The drainage is not what I expected either. I should

have checked the measurements more closely before ordering. It's also difficult the cover with a paper towel and hence messy in the microwave.

Very disappointed that item came without instructions, description, etc. As a gift it leaves the receiver with no idea

what they have.

Best Deals for Ceramic Bacon Cooker - Brown

When cooking bacon on this, grease collects inside the "cup" and also in the "saucer". Now, to drain this off after cooking, they have thoughtfully put a spout on the "saucer" BUT they failed to put a drain hole from the inside of the "cup" to the "saucer" next to the lip. This means that if you are pouring into a jar you have to carefully pour out the saucer and then reposition to drain the cup while the saucer drips onto the counter. Mine is now living in the cabinet unused.

Honest reviews on Ceramic Bacon Cooker - Brown

Okay for a single serving. Came without any instructions or guidance. Handle gets hot in microwave. But the ceramic is attractive and cleans easily.

This Ceramic Bacon Cooker works surprisingly well for cooking bacon in the microwave. We do love bacon and likely eat more of it than the national average, but cooking it on the stove is a bit of a production when making it for the whole family. We have tried other microwave cooking options for bacon but were generally not effective or easy to use, so usually went back to using paper plates covered with paper towels or frying it on the stove. My wife found this bacon cooker at another site and took a chance on ordering it, here are my observations:

Pros -

+ Cooking; it is possible to get the bacon cooked to personal preference, from chewy to crispy, with a little experimenting

+ Ease of Use; couldn't be easier, just drape up to six pieces of bacon over the lip of the "cup" and microwave (see below)

+ Easy To Clean; the "cup and attached saucer" design catches the grease and allows it to be poured off without fuss

+ Dishwasher Safe; just rinse and put in dishwasher!

+ Good Looking; this is well made and looks good in our kitchen, not like those plastic bacon cookers that have to be hidden away

Cons -

Limited to six slices at a time, which is not enough for my family

Misc -

* Cooking Time; we found our 1500 Watt microwave cooked bacon nicely crispy using 6-minute on 60% power, followed by 2-minutes on 80% power, and then 30-seconds at 100% power (some experimenting may be needed for your microwave)

* Handle does get warm, but didn't require mitts to remove from the microwave after cooking

This is a great kitchen aid for those that like bacon but don't want to tie up the stove top and would make a great gift as well to the bacon lover in your life!

Highly Recommended!

The Mr. Coffee Milk Frother, BODUM Schiuma Milk Whip and Aerolatte Milk Frother appear to be the 3 most popular milk frothers in the under $20 range. I've had all three and currently have two remaining. The Bodum died after 2 months. All run on 2 AA batteries. Regardless of which one you decide, don't set your expectations too high as all three have drawbacks.

I was quite pleased with the Bodum Schiuma. As far as torque, the Bodum appears to be the best of the three. I was able to whip up a good amount of froth when mixing up to 10-oz of milk. So if cappuccinos are your thing, then the Bodum is a strong contender. Although inconveniently placed on the top, the Bodum has a real on/off switch. Inconvenient meaning it's slightly tough to get to turn off. Many time this will result in you accidentally lifting the frother from the milk resulting in milk flying everywhere. As far as reliability, I can't give the Bodum a good rating. It died after 2 months of use.

Now needing another frother and not wanting to wait for one to come through the mail, I purchased the Mr. Coffee frother from one of those big box stores for $10. Compared to the Bodum and Aerolatte, the Mr. Coffee finishes a distant third. The Mr. Coffee will polish the milk nicely and produce a very nice micro-film. If Lattes or Macchiatos are your drinks of choice, the Mr. Coffee will do the job as both drinks call for little foam. However, expect to whip up enough milk for one drink at a time. The Mr. Coffee begins to bog down when trying to mix up more than 4-oz of milk. At 8-oz, the Mr. Coffee can't cut the mustard. It will take a good 60-80 seconds to produce an acceptable polish and little foam. At more than 8-oz of milk, the Mr. Coffee is totally worthless. Also, that big on/off switch is nothing more than a cheap contact switch, and it's very, very touchy. If the wind blows, the frother starts. Many times this means it starts when you don't intend it to and like the Bodum, you get a milk shower.

Now wanting something to move more volume, I ordered the Aerolatte through Amazon. If the Aerolatte had the Bodums torque, it would be the overall best of the three. Unfortunately, the torque is just slightly less. At 4-oz of milk, the Aerolatte will quickly polish and create a nice micro-foam. With a few seconds more and no effort, it will produce a thicker foam for those cappuccinos. At 8-oz, the Aerolatte struggles just slightly at the start but quickly rebounds. Count on mixing for at least 60-seconds before getting a high volume of cappuccino style foam. But even at that, results are inconsistent. On one try I might get good volume, and the next, poor volume. So 7-oz is about the maximum amount the Aerolatte can handle and produce acceptable results.

In my honest opinion, all three frothers are poorly made. Only the Aerolatte has any feel of quality, and even that isn't much to write home about. I've been itching to try another Bodum due to the impressive torque, but have held off as I want to leave the battery operated department and move to an electric mixing stick with a frother attachment. Currently, I'm using Ni-Cad batteries in both my remaining frothers to insure maximum charge as a small drop in battery power greatly affects performance. If you're considering any of these frothers, then you also need to seriously consider buying rechargeable batteries and a charger. However, by the time you add up the costs for all of this stuff, you may just want to consider a mixing stick. 120 volts of electric versus 3 volts of battery power is a huge difference, especially if you're going to be making more than two drinks.

I was concerned that the Bodum Whip was cheaply made and would use up a lot of batteries. I was wrong on both accounts I have been using it for the past three years, and changed the batteries only one time. I found it to be extremely durable and easy to clean. It makes great tasting, coffee house style coffee drinks.

Best Deals for BODUM Schiuma Turbo Milk Whip

I'd read about frothers running out the batteries too soon or not having enough power to forth well. This inexpensive little frother has been one of my favorite purchases of the past year.

I heat a few ounces of milk in a tall glass, then use the frother to whip it up. It makes a thicker, denser foam than the steamers at the cafes--yummm. I spoon that over a very strong french roast and add a little ground connamon on top....no more spending $3.50 for a latte. It costs me about 40 cents to make my own, and I use both organic coffee and organic milk, so a better product for a lot less money.

I've used it plenty of times and am still on those first batteries with no loss of frothing power. Though even if I had to spend 50 cents every couple of months for batteries, this would still be a tremendous convenience and bargain. Can't imagine why people would get anything more expensive.

Honest reviews on BODUM Schiuma Turbo Milk Whip

We'd previously owned a BonJour "Primo Latte" milk frother that died after about nine months of just-about-daily use. That was disappointing, and I didn't want to be replacing the frother that often, so I thought we'd try another brand. The BODUM frother has done the job just fine, but it definitely has less power than the BonJour model we'd been using. The self-standing design of this frother is really nice, though. The tipsy stand that came with the BonJour model was kinda more trouble that it was worth...

This is just a 2 AA battery powered motor with a whisk on the shaft. It's an excellent tool to have to whip a small amount of cream, stir a hot drink, foam milk etc. However, the Bodum product is cheaply made. The batteries are held in by the top cap, which is secured by plastic tabs to the body. Predictably, the tabs break and both the battery retention and activation button fail. I am buying another one but will get a different brand because the Bodum was so poorly made. Bodum makes some great glass products, especially out of Portugal and I respected the name, but this product is junk.

The one thing that really upset me is I was looking for something made in the USA and I thought because it said Denby USA that was what I was getting. Much to my surprise when I flipped the pot over it said "made in China." I guess I should have researched more. If u don't mind where it comes from it is a great all around pot.

This is my second one. My first one cracked after a few years. Even so, I recommend getting a pot watcher. I am a multitasker and this along with an egg timer keep me on track when boiling stuff in the kitchen.

If you agree with "a watched pot never boils" and wander away while waiting for water to get hot enough to cook, then this is what you need! My last boiling disc broke after many years. I have a short attention span and I burned a pot by forgetting I had water on the stove, so I bought this glass "pot watcher" and again I am reminded when my water finally boils. It rattles and makes enough noise to be heard over our TV when the pot starts boiling. In use, I use a pair of tongs to remove it before adding food to the water, but when I forget, the glass disk does not affect the food and is as easy to clean as a small plate.

What can I say? It works very well by clattering before the milk boils over. I'm happy to have it!

Honest reviews on POT WATCHER, GLASS (77258)

I am a person who multitasks. Needless to say a boiling pot usually boils over. I had a Pot Watcher several years ago and used it on numerous occasions. Being glass, the item naturally broke when I dropped it. I have looked and looked for a Pot Watcher again. Even some of the "elegant" kitchen gadget stores do not carry them. A Pot Watcher is a must in every kitchen and a super gift for a new bride. Thank you, Amazon!

This insert fits into more than one size of pan. It's nice and sturdy and very easy to clean. I like the fact that it holds two quarts of milk sufficently. It was not easy to find a double boiler that was this size. Most I found were smaller and less durable.

Best Deals for Cuisinox Gourmet 3.6 Quart Universal Double Boiler Insert

Nice thin metal, does what it's supposed to do. Seals nicely with a couple different pots I have.

Now I understand why my mother and grandmother used round double boilders instead of these stepped kind.

This pot is a PITA to clean. Scalded milk clings to the steps and takes a bit of elbow grease to get clean.

Overall I like it, just not cleaning it.

Honest reviews on Cuisinox Gourmet 3.6 Quart Universal Double Boiler Insert

I started making my own yogurt and needed an easy way to scald milk. This double boiler fits several of my saucepans, so now it's a snap. I like the heavy-duty weight of it.

We often make alfredo sauce for a large group of guest and usually require two double-boilers. Searching for something larger but not as large as a restaurant double boiler, I came across this 3.6 quart unit. It was priced reasonably and constructed well, if a little light. However, it would not fit properly on any of the saucepans in our kitchen. So, we wemt to a local restaurant supply store and found a sauce pan that fit perfectly.

Review of Emile Henry Flame Top Pizza Stone

Emile Henry Flame Top Pizza Stone, Black
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
This is an extremely well-made, high-quality pizza stone that's washable! The handles make it easy to lift in and out of a hot oven, and the glazed exterior makes clean-up a breeze. I have mainly used this stone for baking artisan breads (my husband and I love Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day) and the cornmeal or flour used to help the dough slide onto the stone simply brushes off after the bread is done baking. I ordered the Olive green color, and besides being one of my most prized kitchen staples, it's beautiful! If you're looking for a high-quality baking stone--look no further.

I have gone through at least 6 pizza stones and when it was time to get ANOTHER one...in frustration I googled

What is the BEST pizza stone? Answer: Emile Henry Flame Top Pizza Stone. Well that sounded promising

I bought Emile Henry's tajeen a few years ago and absolutely love it! $49.00 was steep but without tax or

shipping Amazon's offer was too good to pass up.

This pizza (bread) stone is fantastic. It's beautiful and unlike other stones that doesn't stain and can be washed either by hand or in the dishwasher without having the stone "bleed" a soap taste into whatever you bake next and the gorgeous ceramic finish doesn't stain and is perfect for serving.

You can use it on all types of stove tops: gas, electric, halogen as well as induction stove tops AND all

types of ovens: traditional, convection and microwave safe. You can even use it on gas, charcoal and wood grills!

It keeps hot longer, has great even heat distribution and can be heated to extremely high temperatures (up to

700F degree for searing). The glaze is micro-crazed just like a pizza oven so crusts come out crispy and well baked.

It will turn your grill into an outdoor pizza oven...FABULOUS! It is much less liable to crack into two

pieces after you've used it a dozen times like cheaper stones...and no bulky metal cradles or juggling clumsy stones this super ceramic stone has built-in ceramic handles! Perfect for serving, pizza, bread, you can cut on the surface without worrying about scratching it and finally heat it and use it as a warmed serving tray.

On the day I received it I made a white pizza of Gorgonzola cheese, pears, crispy walnuts and turkey for a few

friends. The crust was perfectly crispy on the bottom (my former stones wouldn't have been able to handle keeping the crust as crisp with this recipe). I cut and served the pizza on the same stone right from the oven...delicious and it stayed hot for second servings. So perfect it blew us all away and my guests jumped up to log on to Amazon to order the Emile Henry Stone before leaving both for themselves and as gifts.

Best Deals for Emile Henry Flame Top Pizza Stone

I had been looking for a pizza stone for a while before discovering this one. Stones in the same price range seemed to have frequent breakage issues. I don't have to transfer pizza to another surface after baking to cut it. And I had never seen one you could use on the grill! Anyway, I love this pizza stone. I ordered the black, and have used it once for pizza, and once just as a warm surface for serving hot food on the table. It is attractive enough to work as a serving platter. It is not to heavy to carry, and the handles are very functional. I feel like I can use it for much more than just pizza or bread. A great buy.

Honest reviews on Emile Henry Flame Top Pizza Stone

I don't give out 5 stars very often but this thing is exceeding my expectations for use as a grilling stone.

It is rated up to 700 degrees and my grill tops out at 600 and after about 15 uses I have not had any issues.

You don't put this thing in cold on top of a flame It goes on a cold grill and let it heat up with the grill. Same for removal. Let it cool down. I have used mine about 15 times to cook veggies/fish/shell fish/steak on the grill and it does an amazing job. It will sear chicken, steak and fish. We have had amazing results.

Grilled onions and peppers, brussel sprouts, beets, eggplant, etc!

Grill corn on the cobb and move the small pieces off the flame to the stone to finish.

Seer marinated chicken first on the stone then move to flame to finish. The chicken is moist and tender and presentation is very attractive!

I grilled some baby bok choy by using the edge of the stone to lay the leafy part on while the bulb was grilling (steam itself) on the open flame.

The stone is great for controlling cooking if you wish to continue to cook but not burn. On a large grill its a nice accessory to have this!

I use olive oil to promote the cooking and keep from sticking.

This stone gets dirty and the carbon is very hard to remove. Scrub with light abrasive will not scratch. I will use soaked paper towel while it is hot to wipe it down some before it cools. You can take a sharp razor to scrap some of it off once its cool to remove stubborn material. Don't think it will look like new unless you want to put in the work. It will perform very well despite the additional material. Since its designated for grill duty I don't know of many things that will stay pretty with that use.

I used granite stones and they all cracked after 2-3 uses so after 15 or so uses I am hopeful this product will continue to serve this purpose.

With this product I have had some of the best results in over 30 years on the grill

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Emile Henry Flame Top Pizza Stone

We have had this for about 6 months. Makes fantastic crispy pizza. The clean up is the best part with this. It's one piece and everything washes off easily (event the super melted cheese). When you cut pizza on it using a pizza cutter it doesn't hurt the finish at all. We love this thing.

We got an All-Clad about the same time (generous present) and like it as well. The Emile Henry wins, however, because (a) easier clean up (b) light weight and (c) no scratches when you use a pizza slicer. On the all-clad you leave a mark on the soapstone every time you cut.

If we ever get another stone it will be this one. Great product!

I recently purchased a set of Tramontina Tri-ply* pans from WM (the ones recommended by Cooks Illustrated) and was amazed at the quality of the pans. Please note that the pan shown above is NOT the same as the ones given rave reviews in the magazine. The difference is that the Amazon pan only has a tri-ply base whereas the WM version has tri-ply cladding that smoothly continues all the way up the sides. You can tell the difference if you look closely at the picture above. Look at the bottom and you will see a seam running all the way around the base of the pan. This is where the tri-ply base is attached to the plain stainless upper portion. Thus you only have tri-ply on the bottom of the Amazon pan. The tri-ply does NOT continue up the sides of the pan (the WM version which has a smooth seamless side with full tri-ply cladding running all the way up the sides.)

You have to be careful when purchasing Tramontina. They make everything from very cheap bottom line cookware all the way up to excellent cookware which is often compared to All-Clad in quality. I would say that the Amazon pan shown in the picture above falls somewhere in the middle. It's not junk but certainly can't be compared to their best quality pans.

*for those not familiar with tri-ply it is a method of encasing an aluminum layer within two layers of stainless steel. Bare aluminum may be dangerous to your health but it conducts heat way better than stainless. If you have tri-ply you get the safety of stainless with the heat conductivity of aluminum. If tri-ply is not continued up the side but only on the bottom you will have uneven heating)

I bought this pan when it was reviewed in a cooking magazine. It was compared to, and rated the same as All Clad. I really didn't believe it, but headed to the local low price store (WM) and bought one. I have a burner on my stove that has a hot spot and is perfect for testing fry pans. I am a huge All Clad fan because the hot spot really doesn't affect All Clad. Anyway I cranked on my burner and dropped some butter in fully expecting to see it smoking away. It didn't. It was as good as All Clad. I went back to the store and bought the whole set.

Best Deals for Tramontina Gourmet 18/10 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Base Saute Pans

We have two other Tramontina pans and were so happy with them we wanted a small saute pan. No matter what oil or fat spray we use everything sticks. We read the product instructions carefully and have never used the pan on high heat. Cooking so low to ensure it doesn't stick results in way over cooked eggs.

We kept trying and trying thinking it was "our" fault but still never get good results.

Honest reviews on Tramontina Gourmet 18/10 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Base Saute Pans

We are in the process of changing our cooking ware to all stainless steel and my wife decided she liked the Tramontina line of pots and pans best. So, we recently picked up the 8" and 10" saute pans. They have a real nice heft and feel in addition to looking beautiful. Plus the flat bottom conforms well to our ceramic stove top and they've given excellent results with everything we've tried so far. I particularly like the easy-to-grip handle. Nice cooking ware. And they're made in Brazil, of all places. We'll be adding more.

I was looking for a pan that will work with an induction burner. Armed with a magnet I started a round of shopping in dept. stores around the city. I looked at All Clad, Viking, Calphalon, Cuisinart Tri Clad, etc. On a whim, I stopped at the local Walmart, expecting to find the regular dreck that passes as cookware. To my surprise I found this pan that was not only ferromagnetic, but also had an aluminum clad bottom and was very substantial. The handle is very comfortable and stays cool even after 30 minutes of medium heat on the stove top. BEST OF ALL It only cost me $21!! Half that of the closest competitor.

Calphalon Triply Stainless Steel 10-Inch Omelet Pan Reviews

Calphalon Triply Stainless Steel 10-Inch Omelet Pan
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
Picked up this to complement my ever-growing collection of Calphalon tri ply pans. And, like every other pan in this series, I have been very pleased! Sautees, cooks, fries great. The 8" omelette pan is ok for one person, the 10" pan is great for a family. In my opinion, the 12" fry pan is much too large, so this 10" is just right. Additionally, the 3 quart saute pan lid will fit this pan (check my other reviews of the tri-ply series).

To the person who complained that "used it only once and its interior surface has discolored already." I cook regularly on a gas range, and it takes me several weeks before it starts to get discolored. That statement is like the iPod lawsuit of the guy suing Apple for hearing lossof course your pans will get dirty with usage, it's not magic. Just remember, use Barkeeper's Friend and a Dobie pad (sponge encased in nylon net) to keep the luster!

Lastly, to the person that complained that these are not of the same quality as All-Clad, I don't see what the difference is. Compared with the All-Clad Stainless line, both use the same tri-ply on sides and bottom with aluminum core. The difference is that AC uses a metal that works better on induction ovens (magnetic), albeit is of worse quality than non-magnetic metals.

If you want to pay for overpriced All-Clad, go right aheadthe only one losing is you and your wallet.

Happy cooking!

** 2nd EDIT **

I've had these pots and pans for 1.5 years now, and have steadily added to my tri ply collection. I'm still very pleased with them.

They have still retained their mirror finish on the exterior.

Cleanup is a breezejust rub a bit of barkeeper's friend (I'd like to shake the hand of whoever invented thatbest thing since sliced bread).

The moisture channeling from the lids is very much appreciatedeverything I cook is definitely juicier.

I was amazed at the quality of materialI boiled some eggs in a pot one day, and 14 hours later, I kid you not, the water was still warm, not lukewarm, but warm!

The biggest complaint I have about the pots, and the sole complaint that I can think of, is that the handles on the lids do get a bit hot when cooking. Just do yourself a favor and grab a pot-holder when cooking.

Otherwise, I'm still very satisfied with them!

This is a wonderful pan for any chef, if used correctly. Forget what you know about teflon. Start over. Remember that when sauteing food nothing will stick when you correctly use a hot pan with hot fat. Except maybe eggs. Use a non-stick with eggs. It's just easier. But for the rest, always let your pan heat up (over medium heat, nothing higher is necessary) then add a small amount of fat (oil, butter, lard), about a tablespoon, maybe less. Let the oil get hot and then add your item. Test it though before you commit to it. Barely dip your food (steak, fish, potatoes, etc) into the oil and make sure it gives off a nice sizzle sound. That means you are ready to cook. If it's not ready, wait 30 seconds or so and test again. Always make sure your food is patted dry before going into the pan. A piece of meat or fish that is "sweating" (wet from being out after removing it from the refrigerator) will definitely stick unless you pat it dry with a paper towel. Also make sure that your food is completely thawed. Anything still frozen will produce moisture and become wet, promoting sticking. If you've done everything correctly and it still sticks at the beginning, that's okay. Let it cook a bit. Maybe move the pan around to loosen the item, if you think it's necessary. Let the oil run around the pan, underneath the food. Just don't force it loose with a spatula or tongs. Most food that sticks at the beginning will loosen by itself when it is finished cooking. When you are finished cooking your food, you will likely see some brown bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. That doesn't mean your food stuck. That's good stuff. Great for making pan sauces! It will come right up by deglazing. Or, if you're not making a sauce, you can soak the still hot pan with a bit of soap and water for a few minutes, 5 tops, and it will come right off.

I hope that helps. Bon Appetit!

Best Deals for Calphalon Triply Stainless Steel 10-Inch Omelet Pan

I bought this pan for the hope of having a great stainless steel pan for everyday cooking and I am glad I did. It is very practical to use for quick cooking, it distributes heat evenly and quickly yet the handle doesn't heat up and it's user friendly since it's not heavy. I love using it in searing meat and cook the sauce after searing the meat in the pan. It is a very good buy that's why I bought other sauce pans with the same tri-ply material by Calphalon. It's a kitchen basic if you love to cook!

Honest reviews on Calphalon Triply Stainless Steel 10-Inch Omelet Pan

This has to be the strangest review you'll ever read regarding a tri-ply stainless steel pan, but yes, after using this pan ONE TIME, it started to rust.

I purchased the pan here, from Amazon, received it 2 days ago. Used it the first night and had some chicken fond stuck to the bottom of it. I put about a 1/2" of water in it to soak overnight. The next morning I noticed a very slight brown coloration in one of the rings on the interior wall of the pan. I thought it was just a scrape from a utensil, but in the back of my mind, it seemed like rust starting, which should be impossible for this pan. This pan is built with stainless steel surrounding aluminum, both of which, do not rust.

So, to be sure, I cleaned the pan completely, and put 3/4" of tap water in it to see what would happen, and left it overnight.

Well, the next day I awoke to a 6" rust line around the inside of the pan, and it looks like if I left it longer, it would have encompassed the whole inner diameter.

So, after thinking I was losing my mind, I called Calphalon. They said they've never heard of such a thing and they wanted it sent to them to run tests. I'm sending it to them as we speak and am VERY curious what the outcome might be.

My advice is if you've bought one of these tri-ply pans recently, do a water test overnight and see the outcome.

These should never rust, for any reason, it should be physically impossible.

These are manufactured in China. Obviously my pan is not made of what it says it is, or it would not rust. What I want to know is what ARE they made of? And is it even safe to cook with?

This is very troubling.

This pan is very versatile for everything I cook in it, and cleanup is a breeze. There are no uneven heating spots, and the handle keeps nice and cool.

To all the people who have problems with sticking, here are some tips to using this great pan:

1. First off, this is not a non-stick pan. If you're not careful, food will definitely stick to it. The key is to use a lower heat while cooking, since this pan, once heated, keeps its heat longer.

2. Preheat the oil/butter before cooking anything in it.

3. Your food should be at room temperature before cooking. Cold food will stick no matter what. I've cooked omelets in this pan using less than a teaspoon of oil and no sticking.

4. If you do forget food in this pan and have a burnt crust on the bottom, just fill it with water and put it back on the stove. Add a little baking soda (about a teaspoon) and bring the water to a boil. Once the water has cooled, the pan will be easy to scrub. Also, you don't have to be gentle that's one of the benefits of not having a hazardous teflon coating that can scratch off.

5. Finally, this pan is for cooking! Who the hell buys a pan as a showpiece, hoping to keep it in mint condition!

Nevertheless, I've been using my pan for a year now, and it still looks practically brand new.

Excelsteel 18/10 Stainless 4 Non Stick Egg Poacher

There are so many inept cooks out there, it's a wonder this product got any good reviews! Don't you have any common sense?? Sure it gets hot when boiling that's the point to cook the eggs! Many people didn't read the instructions, so they burned their fingers. Why do you think pot holders were invented!! And for pity sakes, don't hold your fingers over the holes with live steam coming up you're asking for trouble! Also, simmer, don't boil, until the eggs are set. And why would you use a pan that isn't flat on the bottom to fry anything!?

Anyway, spray the cups with any non-stick cooking spray and the eggs slide right out. Use a pair of tongs to lift the cups out and good-bye burned fingers. This is a great product for the money.

Little gourmet tips: try putting a pat of butter in the cups with some chopped fresh chives; put in some hot or mild paprika to taste; salt seasoning & pepper are a good idea. for creamed eggs put a tablespoon of cream in the cups with any of the above suggestions. There are many more ideas than I can print here.

I recommend this egg poacher to anyone who wants a departure from the usual fried or scrambled approach to egg cooking, without paying a fortune to give it a try.

This is truly an all stainless steel product made from non-magnetic (quality) stainless steel.

While it is made out of thin guage stainless steel, that is what makes it lightweight and easy to use. Completely suitable for an egg poacher.

Eggs are cooked perfect each time and the product is easily cleaned. stacks efficiently so it can sit under other pots and pans withour takig up much space.

Just spray the non-stick egg cups with Canola oil and eggs slide out onto a plate perfectly.

Quick cooking, delicious and perfectly cooked eggs and quick clean-up. What more could one ask for?

Quality construction and the eggs don't stick to the cups. Easy to clean. It's a bit on the thin side for thickness of the steel but it is entirely adequate for this type of pan.

Honest reviews on Excelsteel 18/10 Stainless 4 Non Stick Egg Poacher

We've used a number of different poachers and this one works the best. Stainless model far better than any of the aluminum models we had used. Spray the cups with non-stick spray and the eggs will fall right out. It couldn't be any easier to make great poached eggs. Amazon was the best price to be found.

Excellent cooking utensil. Reasonable in price and performs with minimal clean up due to stainless steel construction. Also comes with glass lid, which many comparable cookers do not!

Perfect for those wanting to get away from the ultra modern look most present. So if you're rustic, a hippy, or a rustic hippy, oh what am I saying if you are either of those you don't buy things. So if you know someone who is rustic, or a hippy, or a rustic hippy they will still give you a speech about capitalism, but secretly they will love it.

I ordered this product about a week ago... I have used it every morning since I purchased the product. It's absolutely AMAZING!

I was hesitant at first because as far as I am aware this is Le Creusets first attempt at a French Press. I normally use a Bodum, but since I own so many other Le Creuset pieces that are fabulous, I thought I would give this a try.

The Coffee produced is equivalent to Bodum but the finishes on the Le Creuset are far better. For instance, the Screen that is used to filter the coffee when it's pressed down is more finely knit and seems to be of sturdier metal. The whole press is just built better.

Made in Asia along with the rest of their stoneware products. They have been doing this for years. Nothing to be upset about like I have read on many reviews. The quality is still there, and let's face it, every company wants profit. However, Le Creuset has not compromised quality. Their Cast Iron is still produced in France.

The Le Creuset French Press has become one of my favorite items. My husband and I use it everyday, sometimes twice a day. The size is perfect for 2 very large sized cups of coffee. It works so great and the flavor is so superior that we removed our auto drip Mr. Coffee. This color (Truffle) is very beautifulgoes with most all of my miss-matched stuff.

This is a great French press! It's durable, and makes great tasting coffee. What I really like is the fact that there is no plastic on the press. Classic design, I'm sure we will enjoy it for years to come.

I love this, especially in Truffle just because it's the color of coffee :)

it works wonderfully.

the only problems I have with a french press are going to be the same with any french press one is that it doesn't really keep your coffee warm for long none of them would though. the other is that I wish i could see through it, BUT all I've heard about the ones that you CAN see through is that they break easily. So I am INCREDIBLY happy with this product!
