I was given this pan as a gift. I love the pan and use it all the time. The only problem is the lid. The silicone ring around the lid retains the smell of whatever you cook in the pan. I can't get rid of the smell and I smell it every time I open the cabinet where I store the pan. I can't find any where on line to ask about it or a web site that would help.

This is a tough review I do like my dishes and use amazon to fill in the set when one gets broken or chipped I like the fact that I can "fill in" and that's one reason to purchase higher end and or patterned type dinnerware. But the downside to these dishes is that they mark up quite easily on the face of white of the plates and bowls. This marking comes from the silverware (and I have good Oneida flatware as well) and it leaves very visible grey scratch like marks all over that do not come off in the dishwasher or by hand, which in turn makes these look like bargain basement discount dinnerware rather than the $ 60-70 place setting they are. I use a product call Bar Keepers Friend (oxalaic acid) to get rid of the marks every 3 or 4 months, a pain in the rear but it does work.

Also the bowls, both cereal and rice type, chip pretty easily due to the thin rim design, it's just a trade off of design over function but they do chip the plates do not seem to have the same problem. I've had this dinnerware for about 8 years and use it as my everyday dinnerware.

I bought this set to replace an old canner (sans lid) that had belonged to my grandmother and I wanted to make a batch of apple butter. It arrived promptly, I washed it all and made a huge batch of apple butter and brandied pears. While washing the canner and jar rack/lifter, I noticed a spot on the lid where the enamel had flaked off and the jar rack was rusted! I wasn't horrified, but concerned that after one use it looked worse than my grandmothers old pot. I contacted Granite Ware via email--they were fantastic! They shipped me a new canner and rack (the blancher and strainer were perfect) in record time. I canned blueberry jam this weekend and the enamel is perfect and no rust on the rack.

I must say, it is always a relief to deal with a company that will replace an item without delay, questions or redirecting blame--sometimes there is just bad product and once replaced everybody is happy. I would buy Granite Ware again in a heartbeat. I KNOW this company will backup their product 100%. To me that's a sign of quality.

I bought this kit so I could more easily make Pepper Jelly. The kit made it easier to do the whole process. The tools really helped in the handling of hot jars and lids. The only problem I had was in heating the smaller jars (4oz and 8 oz). The basket (which is essential to the process) was designed to hold the larger jars (1 pint to 1 qt).

Overall, I really like the kit and I am planning to can some vegetables and some home made salsa in larger jars.

I love my new canning kit ! I am new to canning, and wanted a kit that had everything I needed in one kit. The only thing I didn't like about it, is that the bottom is not flat... the description should state that. Since the bottom is not flat, it takes a long time to heat the water up on my electric stove top. Other than that, it is a really good deal, and works like a charm!

If I had studied the measurements before buying this pan, I would have realized that 4.8" is the size of the surface in contact with the burner. My smallest electric burner is 7" with a smaller ring of 6". In use, this would place the handle of the pan into a column of blazing heat rising from an over-sized burner. Ouch! I haven't seen an electric range with a burner smaller than 6".

You'd think I would give it fewer stars, since it is useless to me. I haven't even tried it after seeing the obvious burner mis-match. However! I have kept all the packaging and will surprise a friend who uses a gas stove. She will go nuts for it: a heavy pan with handles solidly riveted and a tight-fitting lid. And it is gorgeous, as you can see from the Amazon photo. With a gas stove, she can limit the size of the flame under the little pot so as to cook only the contents of the pot and not the sides and handle.

I have a set of these cutting boards. However most boards need proper care. Never put them in the dishwasher. I clean mine with a qt size spray bottle with 1/2 teaspoon bleach in it. I spray the board then sprinkle my cheapest salt on the board and then scrub rinse with warm water and then dry well with a towel. After dry once a week I wipe them down with food grade mineral oil on a cloth wash cloth. Not to worry as they have mineral oil in every grocery store or drug store. This will keep all of your cutting boards in good shape. I use certain boards for meat and others for veggies. I write with a marker on the side so I am never confused which is which. They will last for years and years. I have a board that was my Great Grandmothers that I use for veggies only and it still is a good board. I also have a board that I use for making bread pizza dough an pastries. This set I use for fish and one for sandwiches, one for one meat. They say we should do this and that is why I bought this set. Thinking of getting a few more sets to give as gifts. Hope this helps everyone.

I had never used bamboo cooking boards...so I used it for the first time...and the wood started peeling off! I washed it...and it shed worse. So I did some investigation. You have to cure the wood with mineral oil. When I say have to...I actually mean HAVE TO. BEFORE USE and often for the first month. Monthly after that. Wood is better for knives, which is why I got them, but be prepared. Use the mineral oil on it....before you use it.

Follow up: Over a year later...

I've had these for over a year now. They are doing well and holding up well. The first month was a little bit of work...but you can tell when they are starting to dry out and need to be re-oiled, I don't find it to be very high maintenance. I researched and from what I discovered, mineral in the drugstore section is the same things as the expensive ones made for curing bamboo. So I buy the cheap stuff and it works just fine. Just be sure to not leave the board submersed in water(my daughter did that on accident and the board warped, after a couple months it dried out and flattened again), and wipe off the extra oil after curing it.

However, after washing them a few times, they began to crack and spilt. Then they even deformed so they didn't lay flat. We ended up having to return them. I do agree with another customer review that the smallest cutting board is too small to really do anything with also.

I have owned both the Fresher Longer (at Sharper Image when they are still around) and OsoFresh containers (from Amazon) for several years and they have been wonderful for me. As far as I can tell it is the same products that has changed name/company over time, but this latest iteration maintain the same high quality as the previous versions and the Nano Silver . As the other reviewer has commented the lips are interchangeable with the old containers and I like how the smallest container is now taller, which make it much more useful. The containers are well-built and use high-quality, very thick plastic wall all-around, which means it will not warp or deformed. It is spill-proof, microwaveable, dishwasher safe and freezer-safe, what more can you ask for?

For those of us who worries about BPA. These containers are BPA-free. I have just purchased my 3rd sets, not because the old containers are worn out, but rather they are working so well that my parents want a set of their own too. I am still using the original Fresher Longer set (yellow color) I bought from the Sharper Image store 5 years ago. The silicone seal and the 4 side tabs works just as well as day one in making the containers spill-proof.

They come in sizes I find convenient, stack nicely, and I like how the lids fit (though it does require a little figuring out at first). They can go in the microwave if you unlock the lids. So far there has been no marring of the insides like I've had with other containers. Not only do I give them a 5 star rating, but I would buy them again AND recommend them to a friend.

June 2011 Had to update my review and remove a couple of stars. After some use, I am no longer as happy with them as I once was. My original review stated I would buy them again and recommend them. I would no longer buy them again and would no longer recommend them. They're just like all the other containers I've gotten over the years: good when they're brand new but their useful qualities deteriorate.

Problem #1: mold forming inside the silicone seal of the lid. Eww! Gross! I had to pick it out with a butter knife. Makes me wonder what microscopic yucky stuff is inside there infiltrating our food. So much for the antimicrobial attributes.

Problem #2: The lids no longer consistently and interchangeably fit. I've put them in the dishwasher on the top rack on occasion but mostly hand washed them. Sometimes the lids fit fine, other times they don't seem to line up. The lids can't be forced to closed. You have to try a different lid.

Stained by leftover pasta with tomato sauce after less than 24 hours holding the food, just like any other container.

I also find them a little hard to open when they are sealed. That isn't necessarily a product flaw, just my observation.

I loved these storage containers for a number of months. They seal properly, don't leak, come in a variety of sizes, and the lids for many sizes are interchangeable.

Unfortunately, about 9 months into owning and using them regularly, they all began to develop a disgusting buildup of black mold or mildew under the silicon seal in the lid. It appears that when moisture gets underneath the seal, there's no way for it to escape, and mold develops. I can't find a way to remove the seal, and I hesitate to bleach them since I use them for food and worry about chemicals seeping into the plastic. I'm afraid they'll all have to be thrown away.

I ordered this item because of the nanotechnology and I do think that food stays fresh longer when using it. Red grapes were fresh after 2 weeks in the container. I do have a problem with the locking mechanism on them. Some of the lids are impossible to lock and I end up trying several lids to find one that locks on 3 or 4 sides. They require quite a bit of force to lock. I have a set of Lock and Lock containers and do NOT have this problem with them.

These containers have helped me lose 25 lbs! I can buy better produce at the warehouse store and it stays fresh long enough to use it (rather than throw away the remainders). I routinely keep celery 3-4 weeks and asparagus stays like just-picked for over a week. Strawberries will last a week if you don't wash them before storing them. Don't wash anyfresh fruit or vegetable before storing. I have had tomatoes last over a week in these just sitting on the counter! You'll be buying them as gifts next!

Foodies will really like this product. It allows you to cook while still maintaining some fun and whimsy.

Caveat: you need to follow the care instructions for Pomaireware. The temperatures, washing instructions and so forth are important to keep from cracking. This is a rather high maintenance cooking vessel, so if you aren't interested in investing the time and care, don't buy it.

Case in point: the first one of these I received, despite great packaging, was broken. It was replaced immediately and no problems since, but I got a good idea of the degree of fragility of clay.

But don't be scared off! Just follow the care directions and all will be well!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I received this set just in time to use it for Thanksgiving, and I'm glad I ordered it. It's a fantastic set.

The pots themselves are very well made. They are solid and just feel like quality. The non-stick surface is great...more on this in a minute. On heat the pans get hot very fast, although being aluminum-based they won't hold heat as well as, say, cast iron.

You get two skillets, two saucepans, a dutch oven, and a griddle. All but the small skillet have lids. Also included is a non-stick cookie sheet and a spatula. The lids are made of glass, ostensibly so you can look at your covered food as it is cooking. In practice the lids tend to fog over with condensed moisture, so their utility here is limited.

The non-stick surface is not a typical teflon coating. It is textured to further minimize the potential for sticking. This is good and bad. For instance, doing up eggs of any kind on the skillet is a dream. No sticking, eggs cook quickly, etc. However, I wouldn't recommend this pan for things like steak, since you must get the pan rocket-hot in order to get a good sear and crust on the meat. Non-stick surfaces won't hold up to that kind of heat, so you won't get the kind of crust you want. However, for less-aggressive cooking methods, even hamburgets, these pans work fine.

Also, be sure to take care of the non-stick surface as it can scratch easily. Avoid using metal utensils. I use softish plastic utensils when I cook with non-stick. In this set a spatula is helpfully included which gives you an idea of the kind of plastic you're looking for. And even though non-stick coatings can tend to wear away after use, the coating on these pans seems very well made and will last for quite some time.

A very good set from a very good brand. I recommend them highly.

We've been using this set regularly for the past nine months and it's still performing perfectly. The non-stick coating is still there on all the pans, has not even started flaking or peeling, and doesn't even have any scratches thanks to being careful not to use metal utensils.

In practice we very rarely use the lids, but to be fair we don't usually use lids anyway, except for oven cooking (and we don't use these pans in the oven) so it isn't because of any kind of design flaw.

Very happy with this set and I think we'll get plenty of use out of them.

I bought these as a gift for my husband, and I am so glad I did! We wanted something nonstick, and these pans have hit that mark beyond my expectations! Even when making pancakes on the griddle pan, we've never needed to use cooking spray or butter, and the pancakes slide right off the pan! The baking sheet is just as awesome, no cooking spray and the cookies do not stick at all! The best part is, these pans just rinse clean with no scrubbing! The pieces are lightweight, non-stick, and easy to wash (should you decide to use a little elbow grease instead of taking it the easy way out i.e. your dishwasher). It has all the essential pots and pans and even includes a griddle that I'm excited to use for future breakfasts.

The only downfall, I would say, is that the pieces are relatively small in size/volume. Good perhaps for making a dinner for two but no more. Good for sauce making, ramen, frying up some eggs, cooking small things, etc. Bad for dinner parties. Perfect for your kid going off to college. (Assuming that s/he cooks and won't just eat out of the dining hall all day, everyday.) Bad for Thanksgiving (except for cranberry saucethe 1 qrt saucepan would be just right).

A few days after this set came, a friend visited. So I took that opportunity to test out a few of the pots and pans. The 3 qrt saucepan, dutch oven, and 10 in skillet all heated up nice and quick. They were easy to hold and lightweight (which felt better to my wrists when compared to iron skillets which weigh a ton). The nonvented glass lids fit well. The spatula worked just fine, though I usually prefer less flexible ones.

Cleaning is very easy and the fact that it's dishwasher safe makes it very helpful. They fit in my dishwasher just fine too.

Although these pots and pans aren't too lightweight they're not ridiculously heavy either like some others out there. In my opinion they are the perfect weight and size. I was a bit skeptical about buying cookware that I can not hold and inspect first. But the price was good and I decided to go out on a limb and try it. I have a family of 6 and am always using countless pots and pans to cook a meal large enough to feed the whole family. Well let me tell you this, this thing is big, and I mean big. The cooking area on this is amazing. You read about the size, but don't realize how big this is until you have in your hand. I can finally cook a meal all in one piece of cookware...I love it. I cook over gas and it cooks and heats evenly throught the whole pan, no hot or cold spots. I was able to brown and cook 6 breasts of chicken at one time, with room to spare. Yes the item is made in China, yes there is no Thermospot (however if you know how to cook not a big deal), but the construction seems good and the pan does have some good weight to it. This is definately a piece of cookware to have in you household if you need to cook large portion meals for a big family.

My T-Fal set of pots & pans didn't include this jumbo cooker, but right away I saw we needed this. It's great for big batch cooking like chili or stovetop meals. I like to cook up enough in one batch to save cooking later in the week.

This has most of the features I wanted: extra handle so you can use two hands to lift it when full, non-stick interior, even heat base, glass lid so I can see the progress of the cooking. I do wish it had the red dot in the center to tell me when the pan is properly preheated. You need to use plastic or wooden spoons or stirers with this surface.

This is a great pan for those of us who are not cookware snobs. If you go in with high expectations you might be disappointed; this is not a $100 pan and it shouldn't be compared to one. Yes, it is a little thinner and lighter than a top-of-the line cookware product, but so what. It works great and is perfect for everyday use. It is very versatile from frying eggs to cooking several pieces of chicken at the same time. It is very roomy in diameter and depth. The lighter weight of the pan makes it not too heavy to lift when food is in it. It cooks surprisingly evenly and because it is lighter weight, you can cook at a lower temperature = less electricity or gas = saving $$. The lid is a great addition to keep things warm and having two handles makes lifting very easy. There have been absolutely no problems with this nothing broken, nothing coming loose. The handles are riveted so there is nothing to come unscrewed. My only recommendation is to follow the instructions that come with it. Don't use metal or hard plastic utensils that will scratch, don't use scouring pads, and don't soak it with dishwasher detergent, which eats at the coating. I ordered this off Amazon because I had a gift card and got free shipping, but this pan is available in stores too. If you live in the Midwest, Meijer sells it for $25 and a couple weeks ago I noticed it on sale for $20. 4/30/2011

We purchased this 5 quart cooker based on it's size and the fact that it shipped with a lid. This pan has not disappointed us. It is quite large, in fact we had to clear out a special spot in our cabinets for it. Over the last three months it has worked as expected. The non-stick surface is functioning well and we have not had any issues with scratches or sticky food.

I don't miss the red dot that is on most of the T-Fal products mainly because I know how to cook and I know when a pan is at the correct temperature for what I am making.

I would have preferred a metal lid because I am fearful one day I will either drop the glass lid or it will break being banged around in the cabinets. Being able to see what is covered isn't a necessity because I know when my recipes are done. I don't lift the lid except when I am stirring.

If you are like me and prefer buying inexpensive cookware and replacing it more often (every 3-4 years) rather than over paying for expensive equipment and hope it lasts then this is a great pan for you. Granted this doesn't beat a comparably sized cast iron pan, but it is a nice addition when you want a non-stick surface.

My daughter-in-law loves to cook, which works out well, because I love to eat. I bought this piece and one other of Polish Pottery and gave to her for Christmas. They are beautiful dishes. When Amazon asked me to write a review, I asked her what she thought and she said, "My favorite dishes to use for entertaining, beautiful/colorful patterns, can use in oven AND makes a lovely serving dish...why use an ugly baking dish when you can use a beautiful one?'

Nice bowls, sturdy and larger than regular cereal bowls. However the silicon seal around the lid was adhered to the bowl and torn leaving a piece of silicon on the bowl that was incredibly hard to remove. A knife had to be used. Great bowl, great concept for the lid but the silicon seal is nearly useless. The silicon seal eeds to be thicker and rounder then seated in a concaved slot on the lid.

These are not oven safe like the description states over and over again. The lid broke immediately. When I turned the knob to the open position it snapped off into my hand. The seals on the lids are not attached so when you remove the lit the rubber seal comes off because it is stuck to the bowl. I would not recommend this for anything other than a cereal bowl.
