Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program

Edit: I should mention that this is a 14 piece set, and incorrectly said 15 in my review.

I decided to do a video review for the Faberware cookware set. The reason being is I did notice the quality difference between another brand known as Cook N Home 15 Piece Non stick Black Soft handle Cookware Set that I purchased last year when I was on a stricter budget after moving into a new apartment. I also reviewed the Farberware Dishwasher Safe Aluminum Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set, Black which had similar teflon but less pans.

While I'm not fond of the color (which is a minor nitpick) I do have to say the quality difference was impressive.

Keep in mind that the Faberware retails on Amazon $20 dollars more than when I paid for the other brand. I just have to say, it does make a difference. I really like the set up of the base of the handle, which is much sturdier than the other brand. The Teflon is DuPont and I could immediately see the difference between my other set of cookware.

Now not all the lids will fit every pot for Faberware, but this is mostly the frying pans, so don't fret. The skillet has a lid that fits. The only minor thing I liked from my Cook N Home is that there was a steam vent/hole when cooking. Good for when you're cooking meals with a lot of steam that prevents the bubbling. Faberware doesn't have this, so that can be a good or bad thing depending on your viewpoint.

The other nitpick are the plastic utensils that came with the set. I could honestly do without. This cookware is really a starter set and if you have a large family, you'll need more pots and pans. For the average couple or single person this is a fine set to start out with.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The color is a beautiful and attention grabbing bright red. The cookware is a heavy gauge Teflon nonstick aluminum. Every piece is dishwasher safe. The heavy gauge aluminum helps prevent burning and reduces hotspots for an even heated bottom of the pot or pan. I like this set because it last longer than most any Teflon coated cookware. It is easy to clean and it's not the cheap no name brands that you can find for half the price. Amazon offers this at a good price and is competitive with other retailers.

Please follow directions if you haven't use Teflon coated cookware because it will be ruined if you use a metallic utensil with it. The set comes with four nice non metallic utensils....Slotted Spoon, Solid Spoon, Slotted Turner, Whisk. Also includes two saucepans, 1 & 3 quart with lids, five quart Dutch Oven, 9"&11" skillets and 2.75-Quart Covered Saute pan. Amazon also offers this set in black, but I prefer the red because it matches my KitchenAid mixer as well as my toaster.

The lids are glass and oven proof up 350F. The handles are coated, which keeps them cool to the touch. Also the handles are not only welded but also riveted to prevent dangerous spillage of hot foods. Also this is a sign of Faberware quality. Faberware has been in the cookware business since 1904, over a hundred years and if you live in the states I bet you parents owned Faberware cookware.

This set would be a great starter set or for a small kitchen because they take little storage space. We have a large stainless steel commercial gas range and usually keep one or two pots displayed on it for cosmetic reasons. If you have a large kitchen and like to prepare hot food, this set is a must have for the price. Even if you want to mix and match your cookware like we do, the red color goes well with SS. My wife is a caterer and is really rough on cookware, and after 6 months this set has held up nicely without anything breaking. I recommend this FABERWARE cook set for anyone that enjoys the culinary arts to even frying an egg. It will last a long time IF you take proper care of the Teflon coating.

Thanks for reading my review. M. Hyatt ~THE HATCHERY.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program First, I must say that I only got these because I got them to review. Typically we do not buy non-stick pans because I am concerned about toxicity. You can only use plastic utensils with these pans. And the ones that come with it are a little bit flimsy. That said, I assume if you are buying these you will buy them aware of the risks of non-stick pans, so I'll review them as such. I've used them about 10 times to cook, very carefully at heat that is not too high, with plastic utensils and they worked well.

Note that the set includes a 1 and 3 qt. saucepan, a 5 qt. dutch oven, and a 9 and 11 inch skillet and a 2.5 quart saute pan. The skillets do not have lids, but the others do.

Nothing stuck to the pans, which was great.

I would suggest that these would be a good set for someone who is not a regular cook maybe a young college student or someone just getting started out. They heat up quickly because they are thin and they heat a little unevenly. Not a big deal for minor cooking, but if you are more serious or cook a lot, it is not ideal.

They can go in the dishwasher and the times I used them it did not seem to cause any harm to them. I am skeptical about that over time, but I'll have to wait a year or so before I can report on that.

Overall, this is not a cheap set of pans. I would put them better than a start set you might get at Wal-mart and a good value for the price. But not a good option if you want pans you'll be cooking with a lot over many years.

Honest reviews on Farberware Dishwasher Safe Nonstick 14-Piece Cookware Set

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Four pots with lids, two pans plus utensils makes this set a good choice for those setting up a kitchen on a budget. When my wife and I were married 25 years ago, we purchased a Farberware stainless steel set (not inexpensive at the time) which we still have today. We found at the time that although the pots were very well-made, the frying pans (without teflon) required much more oil or fat to be useful. So we ended up buying teflon frying pans of various sizes over the years. Conversely, the deep pots in this set are also teflon coated, which we feel is perhaps not necessary, and since the teflon coatings tend to wear out much sooner than the pots themselves, will ultimately limit the useful lifespan of this set. However, the manufacturer has also included a few utensils, which will hopefully remind users that using plastic or wood will greatly increase the longevity of the set. The weight is reasonable, not too light, and the ability to place in the medium oven, as well as wash in the dishwasher, is a plus. For the price, very reasonable.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program For the price I think you could do better!! Most non stick pots and pans these days are very durable and you can use any kind of utensil with them. These pots and pans you can use only non stck/plastic type utensils or you risk damaging the non stick surface. A set of plastic/non stick utensils is included.Becasue I am used to being able to use metal utensils I found myself forgetting to use non metal in these pans.I have some other non stick pieces of another brand. The surfaces are guaranteed for the life of the pan and you can use metal utensils in them. The smaller frying pan does not come with a cover and I tried using a cover one of the sauce pans and it does not work. This set has two sauce pans a big one and a little one ,which I found to be lacking and would prefer a middle size sauce pan too. They are attractive. I like that they have see through lids with cool touch handles. The jumbo cooker can go into the oven as long as the temp is not above 350 dergrees again most of the ones I have seen/used are good to 400 degrees some even higher. They are dish washer safe. I think they are ok if you do not do alot of cooking. While one may not be able to find another better set for this price I think spending a little more for better quality would be wise in the long run!

December 24,2012

I want to warn you that the plastic utensils that come with the cookware are not what I classify as safe. The plastic absorbs heat and will burn skin.

I have had this set and individual pieces associated with this set for quite some time and I love it. I'm someone who brings my lunch with me to work daily and absolutely love the ease of these products. The sizes are just right for an entree and one or two sides. I use the mugs for chili and soups, the bowls for entrees, french onion soup, pumpkin pudding and a laundry list of things in between. Just last night I made chicken pot pies. Baked, frozen and later on today they'll be microwaved. Perfect for those who enjoy cooking, enjoying leftovers, bringing lunch to work and easy clean up. Staining and retaining odors does not happen with these, as it can with other storage products. They certainly win hands down over plasticware with regard to its versatility.

The cups a great for soups and other dining liquids. The bowls are Great also. I take care of my 82 year old grandmother & she just love how she can take a can of soup and poor it into the cup, cook it in the microwave then what she does not finish she can up the lid on and put it in the refrigerator. When she wants it again just take out of the frig. and put it directly in the microwave. Clean up is good also only on problem with them and that would be the lids. After a little time the plastic exsorbet a red tint from tomato based products. Other then this I'm buying them for all my friends as Christmas presents.

These are great. The mugs hold an entire can of soup. The lids keep the contents inside and keep the microwave splatter-free. They are a handy size for storing and heating leftovers or lunch and go from refrigerator to microwave without any problems.

Honest reviews on CorningWare French White Pop-Ins 8-Piece Round Bake and Serve Set

Several months ago I was very upset to realize the tops on my Corningware containers were getting so loose they just about fell off. I then realized I had been using them every week for TWELVE YEARS! I bought them individually for around six dollars each, which was expensive at the time. So here I am buying some more. If they even last HALF as long this time, I'll be satisfied.

Love these pieces for reheating. I do wish they could make the small bowls with a handle so it isn't so hot to pick up after reheating. The lids fit a little snug (which makes it hard to get them off without spilling the contents) so I just don't snap them all the way down in the microwave. The bowls clean up beautifully but the lids stain easily.

I ordered these for my mother and they came in perfect condition. An earlier review scared me off a little originally, as they said the bowls showed up broken. I had no such problem, and the bowls themselves are beautiful and very useful I use them for salads as well as pasta.

I am very pleased with these bowls. They are perfect for all sorts of things that the teeny, weeny bowls that come with a service of this china are too small to accomplish (must be a European thing.) The bowls are a nice size for tossed salad, soup, stew or pasta (of course.) They are very pretty and arrived extremely well packed with not a scratch on them.

I also stayed away from ordering this item due to the earlier review, but took the plunge when I read the second review. So glad I did they arrived completely safely, without a scratch. Thank you, Amazon! They're made in Britain and as beautiful and high quality as PBG items should be.

These pasta bowls were given as a gift. After reading some of the other reviews I was a little concerned about the condition in which they would arrive. They arrived in excellent condition and were very well received. The recipients love them and find them useful for more than just pasta. I might add that they have a large collection of Portmeirion Botanic Garden dishes and say these fit into the collection beautifully.

This is a pretty cool lid because it can stand up on the counter. The glass is very solid heavy glass, so I don't want to know what will happen if I knocked it over, but it is tempered so I am not worried. My husband easily screwed the handle to the lid, and you can see there is a vent where the handle meets the lid. It is easy to clean, and if I got food stuck in the vent or needed a deep cleaning I would be able to take the handle apart from the glass. I bought it to fit my 11" Blooming Flower Wok, and it fits perfectly.

Calphalon Nylon Utensils Pasta Fork Review

Calphalon Nylon Utensils Pasta Fork
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Over the years, I've used and abused numerous tools for stirring pasta as it boils, and for dipping it out once it's done everything from a slotted plastic spoon, to bacon tongs, and a three-tined wooden fork. I even had this thing that looked like a flat wooden spoon with about a dozen 1-inch dowel pegs mounted on the spoon end. Nothing seemed to work all that well and the odd dowel-pin thingie was a serious pain to clean. I finally decided there was just no great way to do that particular job.

But while "retooling" following a major kitchen remodel, I tried just one more pasta implement, and imagine my shock to find that it works beautifully! Mine is technically an earlier model of this Calphalon item, but I recently bought this one for a gift, and it seems very similar, with a slightly larger ladle end, and what feels like a stronger handle, which also has a longer non-slip grip area, all design improvements, if anything.

The "teeth" on this server work nicely to separate strands of pasta in the cooking water, and it's wonderfully easy to get a serving of pasta out you just dip the ladle into the kettle and lift up ... a reasonable amount of pasta, which actually stays put while you move it to a dish. And mine comes clean every time in the top rack of the dishwasher. What more could I ask? Unless they have the patience to enjoy fiddling with shifting just a few slithery noodles at a time, I would encourage any pasta lover to try this tool.

As an afterthought, I think we need a catchy, more descriptive name for this utensil. "Spladle" or "spa-ladle" (a contracted form of "spaghetti ladle") is the best I've come up with. Any other suggestions?

We eat a lot of pasta and this tool is ideal for serving it. It grips the pasta well and can handle a heavy amount without bending. The entire tool is sturdy and seems very well made. It looks nice hanging by the stove. I recommend it.

Best Deals for Calphalon Nylon Utensils Pasta Fork

I purchased this Calphalon pasta fork, along with six other Calphalon nylon utensils of the same type, 18 months ago. For the first year I was really pleased with them. However, in the last several months, the grey silicon insert on the top of the handles of two of these utensils (the pasta fork and soup ladle) have separated from the rest of the handle. The inserts could be snapped back into place the first few times this happened, but now they will not stay properly inserted, which results in both utensils having too much flexibility (not to mention they no longer look nice). I fear the same will happen with the rest of my Calphalon utensils. Although the silicon insert is a nice idea, it is poorly executed, and I am now looking to replace my pasta fork with a one piece version.

Progressive International Mini Microwave Plate Cover

This barely covers a 6" diameter bowl even though it's supposed to be a 7" cover. I have no idea what to use it for other than to put it over mugs when heating cocoa or milk.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

As previous reviewers have remarked, this cover is quite small: 7" circumference and 2" deep. As long as you're prepared for that, you won't have a problem. I own a small microwave and had foolishly purchased a larger cover without measuring the opening to my microwave, and it ended up not fitting. I bought this smaller cover and while I was admittedly a little surprised by its small size upon arrival, it ended up being just perfect.

Realistically, the only things I ever want to cover in the microwave are those things which have a tendency to pop or splatter, like chicken. This is plenty big for everything I've needed to cover. 8" circumference and 3" depth would be ideal, so I give it 4 stars, but otherwise no issues.

Best Deals for Progressive International Mini Microwave Plate Cover

After putting up for years with extra splatter below the usual large microwave covers when used with smaller bowls and dishes, I was delighted to finally find a cover that's the right size for the job. True, it's not a perfect fit on every bowl or saucer, but the shape makes it easy to balance on top of most smaller dishes and it's still a big improvement over the large dinner plate size. I've been using one for well over a year now, and just bought a second to alternate in the dishwasher. It's held up beautifully so far, even when someone (we're not saying who) forgets and puts it on the bottom rack, although I wouldn't recommend that as a regular practice.

Honest reviews on Progressive International Mini Microwave Plate Cover

It can withstand very high temperatures without warping. Is is even very resistant against food stains from splatter. I haven't had any cause to change it since I bought it.

Review of Circulon Acclaim Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Circulon Acclaim Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Circulon Acclaim Hard Anodized NonStick 10 Piece Cookware Set is a nice, professional looking cookware set designed to make cooking and cleaning more troublefree. The set includes three pots and three pans with seethrough glass lids and has just the right number of sizes to satisfy most kitchen needs.

Cooking isn't really my thing but if I have to cook, I want something that will help make the task as simple and trouble free as possible. This cookware set satisfies these conditions on most all levels and the first thing consumers will notice is that the nonstick claim isn't exaggerated. The PFTE coating on this cookware really does prevent sticking and this makes cooking far less of a hassle due to the quick cleanup afterward. This reason alone is enough to consider this cookware set. I have used others that claimed to be nonstick, but did not work very well. This cookware set does what it says.

Cooking with this set of pots and pans is easier, too, and the reason is mainly due to the design. The high sides on the largest skillet and the deep stock pot make cooking easier because you can place many different solid foods and liquids inside and not worry that they will boil over. This is especially helpful with the skillet. I cannot count how many times I tried to prepare a dish using an ordinary skillet only to have the liquid reach so close to the edge that I couldn't stir it without it spilling over the sides. The large skillet in the Circulon Acclaim Hard Anodized NonStick 10 Piece Cookware Set is deep enough that this problem is resolved, once and for all. And the glass, seethrough lids let you observe the progress of the cooking without having to lift them off, for added convenience.

Yet another nice feature with this cookware set is the handles. They feel unusual at first and take time to get used to, but they are excellent at preventing slippage. The material has a grippingtype surface that prevents slippage, even when your hands are wet. The handles are made to stay in place, too, with multiple fasteners to keep them secured.

Looking for something to criticize with this cookware set I can come up with only one thing: The slow conduction of heat. Other pots and pans heat up very fast, but these take a little more time. However, once they are nice and hot, they spread the heat better and more evenly. Thus, the one small flaw with the product is redeemed. The metal spreads the heat far and wide so that food is cooked as evenly as possible.

A good cookware set can make cooking less of a chore and the Circulon Acclaim Hard Anodized NonStick 10 Piece Cookware Set certainly qualifies as a good cookware set, and then some. The pots and pans are lighter than other brands, yet very durable and made to last. The nonstick qualities are very good and the cleanup is a breeze. Add everything up and you have a cookware set that easily exceeds expectations and is one to consider for your next purchase.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a fantastic beginner set for someone just starting their own household, or someone who is just getting into cooking. I'm not familiar with the brand, and as one of the Cooking Impaired, I probably won't see flaws that an experienced cook might find with this set. The handles stay cool, and I can't get anything to stick to them. NOTHING sticks to this cookware. I defy anyone to get something stuck to these pots and pans! I don't have a dishwasher, but apparently these don't stand up well in one. The good news is that regular handwashing will take food off, and without scrubbing. The individual pieces are not heavy, but you can tell that they are quality when you're handling them. You can even put them in the oven up to 350 degrees. They heat evenly and quickly, without any sliding all over the stove. The best part is that you don't have to hide your metal utensils to keep the non-stick surfaces. No more smacking hubby's hands with the metal spatula for ruining a non-stick pan. This set looks and feels like it will last a long time. I can't find anything wrong with it, and I think you'll be very pleased with it.

Best Deals for Circulon Acclaim Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I was really nervous & skeptical about these... mostly due to them being non-stick. Every single non stick pan, pot, etc I have used has eventually lost it's surface and ended up a half non stick / half regular pot. And usually where do those scrapped off fragment go? Probably into our food! So lately i have avoided buy any thing non stick.

But.. enter these babies....

Pro's:

They look great! Very stylish. Very sturdy feeling, I gave them a flex test they seem very well put together.

We used these for thanksgiving and since they said "metal safe" I went to town on them with spatulas and spoons, etc.. guess what no scratches! No loss of the non stick material! I will use plastic utensils in the future but I wanted to test them out.

I was dubious of the ridges, they say it helps to cook food faster, lets them release more flavor, etc.. I will say it does seem to work. I don't know the science of it but grilling soe chicken seemed to work great.

Cons:

None! First time that's happened in a review of mine!

Honest reviews on Circulon Acclaim Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program There are a lot of great things about this set. All the handles are cushioned and insulated, meaning you can be pretty confident when grabbing a handle with a bare hand. In particular, the stock pot has nice handles that are far from the pot AND cushioned/insulated. My wife once had to go to the hospital because of stock pot handles burning her (leading to getting scalded by hot spaghetti water), so this is a big deal to us.

The pots & pans are nice sizes, with a lot of good variety. The tops fit securely, and everything is rated for a good amount of heat. (It's PTFE coated, so you don't want them getting too hot!) Just while writing this review, my wife has reminded me three times how much she likes the size of the stock pot!

The non-stick coating seems to work well, and the bolts attaching the handle to the actual pan appear to be very tight and haven't obviously collected any food thus far. That's been an issue in some pans we've owned, since those areas are a PAIN to clean!

Everything seems to heat up reasonably evenly, with no issues... but we do feel that it does seem to take a bit longer than we're used to to heat up, even though this pan is significantly thinner and lighter than an older set of Circulons we have.

My biggest qualm with the Circulon line is that the PTFE non-stick coating on this line is DuPont's lowest quality (Autograph 2). It's so low, in fact, that DuPont doesn't even put the Teflon brand name on it. My mother of blessed memory had been so mislead by the fact that it was called Autograph 2, and doesn't mention Teflon, that she felt that this was a Teflon free brand, which was a plus for her. We haven't quite made up our mind about avoiding nonstick pans in favor of stainless steel, so we just end up making sure to use lower heat and not to use metal implements!

We have an electric range, so I have no idea how these work on a gas or an induction range!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This set includes:

1 qt. saucepan w/lid

2 qt. saucepan w/lid

3 qt. saute pan w/lid

8 qt. stockpot w/lid

8" French skillet

10" French skillet

To make this set more useful, you might want to add a 12" skillet Circulon Contempo Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Covered Skillet and possibly a dutch oven Circulon Contempo Hard Anodized Nonstick 5-Quart Covered Dutch Oven. I have the 5 qt. dutch oven and it is the same circumference as the 8 qt. stockpot...so the stockpot could substitute for that dutch oven.

Features:

~A Total Food Release System (which makes the non-stick surface safe for use with metal utensils) I use silicone tools instead of metal.

~Non-stick exterior

~Heavy-guage hard anodized construction which distributes heat evenly.

~Double riveted silicone & stainless steel handles with a fold-out ring for hanging

~Pans are oven safe to 400 degrees F

~Shatter resistant tempered glass lids (the lid handle/knobs could be a little taller)

~Safe for use on Solid Plate, Ceramic, Gas, Radiant Ring and Halogen surfaces.

Caring for your Acclaim non-stick cookware:

~Use low to medium heat

~Do not use non-stick sprays (non-stick sprays will cause an invisible buildup which will cause food to stick to the pan).

If you want to keep oil use to a minimum, dab your favorite oil on a paper towel & wipe the interior of the pan before cooking or add a drop of oil to the pan & spread with a paper towel. Heavy vegetable oils may leave a residue that can affect non-stick performance.

~The exterior of hard-anodized pans is porous and can stain. Clean with a paste of baking soda and water.

~Do not put the Acclaim pans in your dishwasher.

~I store my non-stick pans with a paper towel in between them to protect the surface from unnecessary scratches.

I tested the pans by making one of our favorite quick, frozen meals, Bertolli Chicken Parmigiana & Penne (this meal has a very high salt content so we don't have it often). This quick meal includes frozen mozzarella chunks. The directions say to use a 12" non-stick skillet with lid. In the past, I always sprayed a stainless steel pan with cooking spray. Needless to say, the pan became quite a mess because of the melted mozzarella. So, one day, I used my microwave...and the bowl became a sticky mess, again because of the melted cheese. So today, I was ready with the Circulon Acclaim, 3 quart saute pan. I dumped the frozen pasta, chicken, tomato sauce, red peppers and cheese into the 3 qt. pan, placed the lid on top & followed the cooking directions on the package. To my surprise, I didn't have a sticky mess to clean up! Absolutely nothing stuck to the pan, all that remained was a teeny tiny bit of sauce. The pan heated evenly, & the glass lid allowed me to watch the cooking process & stir when needed.

Be sure to read the "Important Safety, Use & Care Information" leaflet. It contains very useful information that includes the section, 'Special instructions for ceramic/glass stove-tops."

This Acclaim set has a Circulon Lifetime Limited Warranty.

The box states: "Lifetime customer satisfaction guaranteed"

5 Stars

I will update my review if my opinion changes.

UPDATE:

I cooked an egg w/o using any oil...the egg stuck to the pan & was easily cleaned up...from now on I will use a little oil for frying eggs.

The cast iron is perfect for cooking pizza. However, I have used it to make hash browns. They came out crisp and golden. Something about the iron heats better on my gas burner. I also heat tortillas. Again, excellent flavor and perfect heat control. One suggestion in re-heating pizza: It is better to use the reverse side with the ripples. Otherwise, the pizza gets somewhat soggy on the flat surface. Plus, it can be re-heated without using the oven. The 14 inches is actually a very convenient size . . . and reversible!

The herb keepers are probably the hardest things to open on the face of the earth. You're supposed to squeeze at the sides (very specific spot) and sort of slide up and out... Yeah extremely difficult. Neither my husband or I could really do it very well. We got it opened 1x, put the basil in and it looked great but once I tried to open it again, it was impossible. I actually had to smash it to get it open.

The pod works great--herbs do last for weeks in the refrigerator. It keeps them really fresh, too, if you remember to change the water every couple of days. However, it is difficult to open, and really big bunches of herbs don't fit.

I got my herb savor pods a few months ago and I love them! they are so sleek looking, it's a shame they are in the fridge so much. I figured out that if you squeeze the white plastic part near the bottom of the clear part it pops open easily! Though I saw from a Prepara comment that they fixed it. I also had trouble with basil it's really finicky but rosemary, cilantro, dill, oregano, sage, asparagus they all last a LOT longer in here than in the package or bag they came in.

Honest reviews on Prepara Herb Savor Pods, Set of 3

I purchased the large single Pod specifically to keep parsley in, I like to have fresh parsley on hand but it goes bad fairly quickly. These Pods are fantastic, I have kept fresh parsley for 3 weeks and it was as fresh as when I bought it. I purchased these as a gift for a friend who grows herbs, she loves them also. If you grow your own, you can pick them at their peak and store them in the refrigerator.

I have since returned these to the company, who said they have had a lot of complaints regarding trying to open these, it is almost impossible. The large, single one is excellent; these are not.

I received these for my birthday back in February. I love the fact that my herbs stay fresh for weeks. However, like many of the other reviewers stated they are next to impossible to open. My husband and I usually burst out laughing each time we try to open them. After becoming frustrated again with the pods I came on here to write a review. Several people suggested trying to squeeze the plastic at the bottom. I tried that and it worked! I gave this product a 4:5 star review because the instructions that come with the pods explaining how to open them are not correct. Also the pods do what they claim to do, keep your herbs fresher in your refrigerator longer. I just wish it didn't take me months to learn how to open these things. LOL

This is the real deal. I didn't think it would be as heavy as it is. It's a high quality stainless steel. I'm not sure why another reviewer said the bottom wasn't thick. In my opinion it is. We're not talking cheapie Walmart quality stainless steel here. I was one of the unfortunate ones who lost electricity for a week during hurricane Sandy, and I used this pot on the bbq burner to boil water. It heated fast, and there was absolutely no marks on the bottom (which I kind of expected considering how long I left it on a high flame).

I used to get frustrated making soup because I didn't have a pot big enough and would have to split a recipe between two pots. Now there is ample room and making soup is fun. :)

this stock pot is a very nice heavy gage. it did not stick and heated evenly

Honest reviews on Alpha 5512 Stainless Steel Stock Pot with Glass Lid, 12-Quart

The build quality of this pot is mixed.

The pot itself is heavy enough, and seems to spread heat well. However, I use it for making large batches of soup where even heat distribution is less crucial, so I can't vouch for use in more heat sensitive uses.

The lid is a lid, feels well constructed.

The weak link in this pan is the handles. They are structurally sturdy, however the finish is rather poor. The plastic handles are a bit ill-sized to cover the metal interior of the handle, leaving some rough edges. The handles are also quite small. This could make the pan difficult or uncomfortable for someone with small hands or limited dexterity to lift with a full load.

Overall, this pan is good for the cost.

The pot is a perfect size to use and to store soups, stews, etc. It is easy to handle and the glass lid worked just fine.

This wok has a beautiful design and high sloping sides like a traditional wok. The rounded cover gives enough room for placing a whole chicken in it! The seal on the lid is excellent where the lid has a large overlap with the pan itself and only a small hole to let out steam. Great for steaming! The 18/10 stainless steel is high quality.

However, I do wish I could find out more information on whether or not the wok is oven proof. Even if it's only oven proof up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. I like to take things from stove to oven, so I hesitate to do so with this pan until I can confirm the oven proof rating. IF I can confirm this information, I'd definitely raise my rating.

I'm a self-confessed cookware junkie and professionally-trained home chef. I have at least 60 or so different pots and pans, and actually use most of them regularly. I've been biased toward Calphalon Anodized (not non-stick) for nearly 20 years, and still love the line. I got into Calphalon Tri-Ply, which is superb, but thought I'd try this pan to see if the value was there.

IMHO, Calphalon Tri-Ply, Cuisinart Multiclad, and KitchenAid Clad all have far surpassed All-Clad for various reasons. Basically, All-Clad hasn't changed its design in ages, and has missed out on a number of very real improvements.

To Wit: the rolled lip that eliminates pouring drips and runs of liquid down the outside of the pan. A simple improvement, but a huge one for simplifying clean-up later, and for whatever surface you rest the pan on. So far, I think Calphalon has the best lids -glass, deep draw, and very nicely fitting. This Cuisinart pan's top fits acceptably well, but it's probably the weak link. As for strengths, this pan weighs in as heavy or heavier than either the All-Clad or Calphalon offerings of similar size, so that's a big win for heat dispersion and uniformity (All-Clad has become really thin over the years!). Unlike the KitchenAid, the exterior is matte finished except for the top 1/2 inch or so. This helps to ensure that the pan will look good despite real-world use. The shape is nice -not too tall and narrow, so it works well on a small burner.

Finally there is the handle. This doesn't have the cool-V design of the Calphalon, but it stays pretty cool anyway. I have a major problem with All-Clad handles, which are extremely uncomfortable for me, the way I lift pans (I have very strong arms and wrists, so I usually lift pans overhand, unlike many who go underhand to get the extra muscle leverage). Lifting overhand, the All-Clad handles dig into my palm in a very uncomfortable way. These Cuisinart (and Calphalon and KitchenAid) handles do not.

4.5 stars overall; 1/2 star docked for the lid being less than perfect (but still as good as all the competition except Calphalon).

UPDATE: Feb 18, 2009: I've compared the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro and All-Clad Stainless pans side by side, and if anything, the Cuisinarts are heavier duty, certainly not meaningfully lighter! The All-Clad LTD pans (some of them) do appear to be thicker/heavier than their stainless counterparts, but then we're comparing apples and oranges, and in any event it's pretty much gilding the lily to go much thicker than they are already. The pouring lip on the Cuisinarts is a huge in-use advantage as well (far less messy). On the whole, the Multiclad Pro line is an incredible bargain. Search my reviews for other comments about these vis-a-vis Calphalon etc.

This pan looks great and performs great. It's less heavy duty than All-Clad, but unless the kitchen is in the middle of a stone quarry it is plenty, plenty heavy duty enough. And it looks great, too. In addition to the price advantage, another lead over All-Clad is the turned lip. One disadvantage, though, is the handle. It's not a light pot, and when it is full it is simply heavy. The handle is not broad/thick/shaped enough, and there is no helper handle on the opposite side. It works, certainly, but the 2006 version could be improved.

I thought I would love this pan. And I do love the multi-clad. And the handle's fine, along with the rivets.

The problem is the lid.

For some reason, the Pro and stainless Chef's lines use a lid that just sits on top of the pot rather than utilize the lid they provide for the non-stick Chef's line, one that has an underrim on it and is seated within the pan (like the Calphalon lids; and, like the Calphalon lids, the non-stick Chef's line lids are glass). The end result is that if and when the contents begin to boil, the steam begins to boil over, even if the contents themselves do not (and if it's anywhere near full, the contents boil over as well; either way, you have a mess). Therefore, unless you watch it like a hawk, or leave the lid off, the 1 1/2qt pan becomes, practically, a 1qt pan, and you may as well get the 2qt if you want 1 1/2qts capacity. Or go with the non-stick Chef's line. Or Calphalon (which, unfortunately, is nearly three times the price).

Honest reviews on Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless-Steel Saucepan with Cover

I bought this pan because of the similarities to the Calphalon Tri-Ply and the All Clad Stainless I own, but at a lower price. When it arrived today, I was delighted! Every bit as high quality as the much more expensive pans I own.

The interior and the exterior around the lip is mirror polished so very easy to clean. The bottom half and the base of the pan is slightly brushed so that it doesn't show scratches or fingerprints. It features a slightly curved out lip for dripless pouring that is identical to Calphalon. The handle is well balanced and doesn't get hot when cooking on the stove. The lid is a heavy gauge stainless and fits snugly.

It features the aluminum core that is sandwiched between 2 layers of stainless steel. Note that this is NOT the less expensive disc base you find on lesser products. It is smooth and seamless and provides superior heat conduction and retention. You will definitely need to use much lower heat if you've been using cheaper pans.

These do not have a non-stick coating but they clean up beautifully. If you ever burn something, use a little Bar Keepers Friend and your pan will look like new. It will also go into the dishwasher no problem.

I can definitely recommend this line so from now on, I will check All Clad, Calphalon Tri-Ply, and Cuisinart Multiclad Pro and then choose whatever's on sale because as far as I'm concerned, they are equally high quality.

This cookware overall is an excellent choice for the price. It heats uniformally cleans up well and looks great, I have them hanging on a pot rack in the kitchen. The handles do well on heat they don't get to hot unless they have been on the burner for an extended period of time but I've used more expensive pots that heat up much faster. If I have a complaint it's that they haven't expanded the line at all. I'd like to see more choices in the multiclad like like they have in their other sets.

I opened the box and it was as nice as I imagined. Nice heavy cast iron in a really attractive color. Very Happy! We have always used an electric Fondue pot but I prefer this style that requires fuel and fire. Works the same as electric and you don't have to worry about that electrical cord draped across the table eye sore!

Purchased this pot as a second pot for our family parties. This is an excellent quality pot, very nice looking and of obvious quality.

This was a steal for the price. Service and shipping were also as expected...thanks.

Good solid workmanship. Holds and distribute heat well. Looks good at diner table.

However heater only good for cheese or chocolate fondue. Oil for meat fondue is not staying hot enough even when preheated on kitchen range.
