Overall I am pleased with the purchase of this product. I do like the fact the frame is steel "angle iron" for easy repair, replacement or modification purposes vs. the cast iron framed buners. Being steel it's easy to add/weld a 1/4" or 3/8" rod to bridge the center opening above the burner so I can use smaller pots and pans on the stove. The burner did have some left over casting material in the holes that needed to cleaned out, no biggy, was to be expected too some degree. Good heat output, does not like drafty or high wind areas, might need to add a wind block if you do use it windy areas. I used a Harbour Frieght 4' tank adapter ($12), fit perfectly... I think its 3/8" threading. Worth the money... good for SHTF or camping or whatever ????

I bought this mainly to fry foods such as fish in an outdoor kitchen setting. The two ring burners seem very high in BTUs and can be controlled for hot fry cooking which is definitely a plus. Also, it stores neatly inside the cabinet what I use to cook on. A couple minor flaws keep this from a five star. First, it's difficult to keep smaller sauce pans or frying pans upright on top of the burners because there is no metal bars that extend across the top of the burners for support. Second, I'm not certain they used heat resistant paint on the steel angle iron. I assume the smell of burnt paint will decrease in time but expect this if purchasing one. Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

I love these for all the reasons that ramekins are good for but I seem to be constantly going to them as pots for my salt, pepper, cumin, and herbs when cooking. I do the prep work, add the salt, grind fresh pepper, shake out or grind some cumin seeds and chop up herbs and use the four workbowls as just that instead of ramekins. Thanks so much!!!!!

This is a good-sized pan. It comes with a nice lid that seals if desired (using steam to form the seal).

It heats evenly, and stays very warm even after sitting away from the burner for a while.

The quality of the stainless steel is great and the pot is easy to clean in that it is stainless steel.

But, it does have its flaws. The negatives have to do with the rivets, especially on the lid, which are large to the point of absurdity, especially for a pan of this size. I was raised with riveted pots and pans, and the rivets were never an intrusion back then.

The lid's rivets make it more difficult to clean. The way they're attached on the outside is sloppy, and unnecessarily bulky. They stick up, and catch on sponges and cloths. This irritates me no end.

This is not a cruel and unusual complaint, but a statement of fact. I am surprised that a company like Cuisinart would be so careless in design. I own another item from a different line of theirs, the Everyday line, and it's the best pot I've ever owned, and that includes my Le Creuset ware.

If it were the only pot available in this size and quality of material, I would buy it again...just because it's hard to find a one and a half-quart saucepan with a lid, for some unknown reason. There are myriad one-quart pans available all over the place.

The price is fabulous! Really fabulous!

Postscript to this comment: I use this saucepan nearly daily. I actually have come to like it very much. If I could rate it again, it would get a four. If it weren't for the annoying rivets, it would be a five star item. The overall quality is unquestionably excellent.

Cuisinart Classic Stainless is the next best thing to All-Clad that you can get according to Cook's Illustrated (makers of the PBS show America's Test Kitchen). They're very beautiful, shiny, heavy, and best of all---they perform wonderfully. They hold a simmer very well, and my food doesn't burn.

Most of the Cuisinart Classic Stainless pots and pans go for WELL OVER $100 EACH at stores like Bed, Bath, and Beyond as well as Linens 'n Things. Buy these at Amazon! I was delighted to see most prices from Amazon were between $20-40 instead of $120-150 at the other stores. Then consider no tax, no shipping costs.... what a bargain!

I have just about every piece in this line and I love it..the pans all cook evenly and with less heat than any other cookware I've used. Keeping it shiny and beautiful is easy..just follow the instructions that come with it. A little bit of white vinegar after washing keeps it sparkling. I don't have a dishwasher and it's easy to clean. The ONLY drawback is that you have to use a towel of pot holder to lift the lid when they're on the stovetop because they get hot. I've recommended it to friends and they love it, too. You can go from stove to oventop. It's very versatile. Buy it! You can't beat this price.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart Chef's Classic Sauce Pans

I'm really glad to have replaced my non-stick with the Cuisinart pans. I have been increasingly concerned about the safety of non-stick. I was really scared that they would stick and I would have to scrub them, but they've been really good so far. I'm not crazy about the hazy look that the bottoms get inside, but I know it's because I cook on med-high heat and I need to get some Barkeeper's friend. Overall, really pleased with this purchase, and I'm still adding to my set.

Like the Chef's Classic set I'd bought from Cuisinart through amazon.com, this is a BEAUTIFULLY made piece of cookware with a snug-fitting lid. The bottom is thicker than the walls. It's so beautiful out of the box you hate to use it! But when you get around to breaking it in, you'll find that the heat transfer is fast and EVEN. The snug-fitting lid is a genuine delight, after a lifetime of using crappy cookware I realize what I've been missing. If you love to cook, this saucepan will put a BIG smile on your face! Some of the best money I've ever spent.

I inherited two of these pots from my mother, who got them in the 1970's. They were her favorites and are mine too. You have to learn to use them for what they are good for: steamed vegetables, delicate dishes such as egg enriched white sauces, etc. They prevent overcooking. The vegetables come out beautiful.

They can often be used in place of a double boiler.

If your pot comes with a base for serving, be careful to remove for cooking! I melted a hole in the base of one of my pots.

I thought when using this product that it would be more of a "continue to cook" product. I liked the idea of bringing the food up to temperature, cooking for a short while, closing the lid and turning it off. I have tried it now three or four times and each time I say...."it's okay." It's not great; it's not bad. I just prefer the Emile Henry FLAME cookware which I also bought recently. I think it's called FLAME...........it can be taken from the freezer to the microwave; it can be used on the stovetop and the oven and looks lovely. I had to search but found a wonderful green color. Anyway I judge purchases like this one by asking myself if I'd buy another size in this type pot or pan. I wouldn't. I'd purchase the Emile Henry.

Cheap Nordic Ware Deep Dish Pizza Pan, 14 by 2 Inch

Nordic Ware Deep Dish Pizza Pan, 14 by 2 Inch
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

This is the deep dish pizza pan you grow old with. It's of the highest quality and the thick rolled edge ensures it will not warp. We made a deep dish pizza tonight using Cooks Illustrated Deep Dish Pizza recipe. This particular recipe is for 2 9 inch deep dish pizzas, but works like a dream for one 14 inch pizza. The only deviation from the recipe was we added 1 1/2 lbs of spicy Italian sausage. The pizza came out so good that our boys freaked out and now that's all they want to eat. it was one of those meals where after one bite everyone smiles and praises it. It was the best I've ever had. For the cornmeal naysayers, 1/4 cup of cornmeal in the dough recipe made for the best tasting deep dish crust that's ever passed my lips.

This pan is soooo nice and it's big. Be aware that this really is a huge pan. When I make a regular 16 inch pizza stone pizza I can feed 4 of us (2 slices each). This pan feeds 5 with deep dish. We served a small salad and cut the pizza into 8 slices. My wife was stuffed from one piece and two of us ate 1 1/2 slices each. The other two boys had 2 slices each. The boys must be stuffed because they always let us know when we haven't fed them enough. I love this pan and I'm not sure how soon we will return to thin crust pizza. This pan is made in the U.S. and I'm actually proud to mention this because it's so nice. Great job NordicWare.

Edit: Just placed my order for another Nordicware 14" deep dish pan. Timmy wants deep dish for his birthday and uncle Bob is coming over. For this price, it's worth it to have some leftovers to bring to work. I'm the soon to be proud owner of two of these amazing pans.

The pan uses heavy gauge aluminum and has rolled edges for additional stability. It is truly professional quality, and it should last for several generations! I coated it with oil and baked it for 30 minutes at 500 F to season it prior to first use for pizza. Consequently, pizza does not stick.

Best Deals for Nordic Ware Deep Dish Pizza Pan, 14 by 2 Inch

Love this pan, it is very well made and should last my kids life time let alone my own and I love the fact it is made in USA, makes me feel good.

Only thing is the size mentioned on the title of this product 14" round 2" deep pan, is not really accurate.

It does say in the "Product Detail": Product Dimensions: 15 x 15 x 1.8 inches ; 1.8 pounds

But many may not look there and just go by the title of the item and it doesn't say if that is inside or outside dimensions.

I upload a photo of the label that came on the pan to Amazon, it states: Outside 15 in x 15 in x 1.75 in

the inside diameter is not listed on label, but I measured it as: 14 in x 14 in x ~1.75 in

So the inside width is correct but depth is off by 1/4 in. Not a big deal to me, but just an FYI to those who may really want a 2" deep pan.

If I was to ding this on anything, it would be it is hand wash only. If it could be washed in Dishwasher this would be perfect. As it is I sometimes have to soak a few hours (usually let it soak overnight and hand wash next morning). Other than that it is worth the price I paid eighteen fifty.

This is a nice American made product (which is why I bought it)

What can you say? It is a nice and thick and well constructed aluminum pan that will last me a lifetime.

This pan is terrific! Cooks evenly, doesn't stick (though if you use more corn meal in your crust it sticks a little but is not really a problem), is very sturdy, and the price is right. It also works great as a water bath for cooking cheesecakes. Highly recommended! I've made some awesome pizzas with this pan. Look for Malnati's Pizza recipes and you won't be sorry!! I no longer feel that I need to move back to Chicago:-)

Review of Calphalon Simply Calphalon Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 13-Inch

Calphalon Simply Calphalon Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 13-Inch Grill Pan
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I have owned my fair share of indoor grills, from a Foreman grill to a really heavy grill pan which I ordered through Amazon. Not too long ago I recently acquired the Calphalon grill pan because my Foreman grill is too small if I want to cook a piece of meat and some vegetables at the same time. Plus the black coating on my Foreman grill is wearing out. So I bought the Calphalon grill pan when it was on sale at a local department store. I haven't been able to get enough of it. It is so easy to clean even when I had cooked a piece of meat that was marinated in Italian dressing or in my own concoction of ground fennel seed, garlic, shallots, and extra virgin olive oil. The marinade will of course stick to the grill which is expected however cleaning it off the grill pan was so much easier than my last grill pan which was heavy and difficult to clean because it wasn't non-stick. I also like using the Calphalon grill pan because I can cook both the meat and vegetable (say asparagus) at the same time. The results are fabulous. I get those wonderful grill marks and grill taste. Although it is a bit big for this apartment dweller, I still consider this grill pan the best of all the indoor grills I have owned. Well worth the money too.

I have had this pan about 2 months now and have put it through it's paces. I too bought it based on the Cooks Illustrated (America's Test Kitchen PBS Show) review, I like their analytical approach to testing and cooking, so I trust them.....and they were right. The concept works if the grooves are wide and wide apart. Let's get one thing straight here first, this is not a "grill like flavor" producer, it "enhances" the food with a grill like taste. I will use it mostly in the winter when I can't get to my Weber grill outside, but I will use it year around for veggies, chicken breasts, and pork chops for sure. Burgers and steaks are better on an open flame, but this pan is awesome to grill zuchinni, eggplant, anise, tomatoes, etc. They come out much juicier than on the open heat and flame of an barbeque grill, plus you can keep a closer eye on them inside the house as you prepare a meal. As for chicken breasts, it's very good as well, I never really saw the advantage of barbequing chicken breasts outside because you would have to over-cook them to get any real disernable taste from it. But on the grill pan, they come out great, perfect grill marks, good flavor, and you don't get that slightly tougher outside that makes it difficult to slice if you put it in a salad or pasta dish. Pork chops are good in this pan too, I usually give them a quick grilling in the pan before I put a sauce on them and finish cooking them in the oven, they retain MUCH MORE juice in the pan than on the BBQ grill. Clean-up can be a challenge, but like they said on America's Test Kitchen, if you buy the George Foreman 'grooved' scotch pad (hard to find!), it's a snap. It's built well and I know it will hold up for many years. In closing, look no further, this is the pan to buy if you want to grill inside.....PS, 4 stars because it doesn't "REALLY" grill like the outdoors!

I chose this pan based on the Cooks Illustrated review, and boy do they know what they are talking about. This pan is awesome! I've used it to grill fajita strips and steaks and it works perfectly. Beautiful grill marks just like on a real grill, great conduction so it heats up evenly all the way across the pan, and the nonstick surface makes it clean up super quick and easy. One of my favorite pans! Highly recommended.

Honest reviews on Calphalon Simply Calphalon Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 13-Inch

I'm a vegetarian so cannot comment on the ability of this pan to grill meat, but I can tell you this it is an absolutely *fantastic* piece of cookware!

I cook a lot, and turn to this pan quite a bit. It heats very evenly, is truly nonstick (w/o need for a single drop of oil), and clean-up is an absolute breeze. Since it works so well, I'm no longer just using it to make omelets and scrambles.

I've had Circulon for yrs, and like it a lot but some types of food (e.g. eggs) tend to get stuck in the grooves. So that was my main reason for buying this pan. It has far exceeded my expectations. I'm slowly going to transition from Circulon to Calphalon as my budget allows. Thanks amazon for a super buy on this pan.

I'm a grillin fool now:)

I registered for this last year for a wedding present and after I recieved it I was completely blown away. I love it! It's versatile and just downright pretty. It sits on my dining room table all year and it goes with everything. I love that you can put it in the oven and warm it up before you put your bread in it. It does get a little darker after it comes out of the oven but it doesn't affect the beauty of the color and helps to distinguish when it's hot and when it's not; So you don't grab a hot bread basket. Basically, I love this item, its the only gift I really wanted when I got married and it exceeded my expectations when I got it. I just bought another one for my mother in law for Christmas! A definite good buy!

It's so easy to clean. I love it's solid, durable construction and how attractive stainless steel can be with the orange handles. It looks so right and modern in my kitchen.

I have to say this is a great sized pot for a person who cooks for one or two people. I mostly use it as my pasta pot but it's my "go to" pot for kid's mac and cheese and things of that nature. I haven't had it very long but so far so good. I did notice some weird staining on the bottom inside of the pot but may be water deposits. I love that it has two small handles instead of one LONG handle.

I bought this cookware to use on the induction cooktop in my RV, and have not been disappointed. The removable handles and nesting of the various pieces result in very efficient storage, and the pieces are indeed nicely compatible with induction cooking (and can be used in a conventional oven with the handles removed). I purchased pot/pan protectors to separate the various pieces while nested -for both protection of the nonstick surface coating and to eliminate rattles while moving. While I can't address the durability of the nonstick coating after only a month of use, all of the pieces appear to be very high quality and I am optimistic that they will hold up well using wooden/plastic implements and hand washing. The handles attach and detach easily and are very secure while attached. I had some initial concerns when I noticed that the pots have a pouring lip that is not fully blocked when the lid is in place, but I've found that this small opening does not affect the steaming of veggies and allows one to easily drain water with the lid in place. Overall, I have no post-purchase regrets and recommend this cookware to others, especially if induction cooking and efficient storage is an important consideration.

My husband and I are slowly replacing our old cookware with investment pieces. We have wanted to try some All-Clad cookware for a long time and so far, it is exceeding our expectations. The pans heat so much more evenly than anything else we own and they really haven't proven to be a pain to clean (which we were sort of expecting). We heeded the advice of the instructions and the reviews from others and keep the heat lower than we normally would..... cook like a dream. I find the weight of the pans to be really nice. I sort of thought that the lids would be heavier. They are very light, but provide a really good seal. Like some of the other reviewers, I bought some Bar Keeper's Friend, but have only had to use it once. I really like this 5 piece set, too because we didn't get a bunch of extra stuff that we really didn't want... and the price was exceptional (black friday sale).

I waited a while and wanted to use these for a few weeks before really making an informed review. I was concerned after having not cooked on "quality" cookware how much of a difference I would notice or if it would even make that much of a difference in my cooking at all. It did. They wont obviously just make you a great cook just by using them, but once you do get used to them they make a huge difference over cheaper sets. Food cooks evenly, they heat up fast, they hold heat really well, and there are no hot spots that Ive been able to tell.

The only negative that I would consider is the handles for the lids does get pretty hot if you're braising, boiling, or doing anything where steam/heat gets to the lid. Simple solution for me was just to keep a towel close by (which I normally do anyways) and Ive gotten in the habit of using that to open the pots that I know have been on the stove for a while.

Recap, well worth the investment IMO.

Best Deals for All-Clad 401599 Stainless Steel 3-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe

People tell me to get All-Clad all the time because it will make life easier and you'll enjoy cooking more. It's totally TRUE. I didn't know the value of owning a great set of cookware until we got this set. We have an electric cook-top that we do not like, but aren't able to redo the kitchen with gas anytime soon. The high quality of this cookware negates the disadvantages of not having the gas stove we loved in our old place. This is the best set at the best price I have found, and I've been looking for a few years.

Honest reviews on All-Clad 401599 Stainless Steel 3-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe

The only problem with getting the larger sets of all-clad is that frequently you run into overlap between the sets; my husband and I ended up with a few duplicates once we combined households. This set, however, includes the three pans I use the most. The 10.5" saute pan works wonderfully for sauteing, but also for risottos as well as for steaming and frying dumplings; the fry pan can comfortably fry up bacon and then eggs for two people; the 3qt sauce pan is a good size for soups-I find the 2-qt too tall and narrow. Warning: the short handle on the saute pan will *not* stay cool to the touch like the long handle; never grab the short handle with your bare hand if the pot is still hot.

Since the bases of these pans are so heavy, they take a bit longer to warm up, but once they do, you can turn the flame down and let the pan's thermal mass do the hard work for you. My husband used to think that he needed non-stick to cook anything. When you've got good heavy stainless cookware, however, you'll find you won't miss non-stick pans. If your food is sticking (and you don't want it to be), you've likely got the heat up too high. If you do accidentally burn something on that leaves marks, a little bit of scrubbing with Bar Keepers Friend will make your pan look as good as new.

The plain fact is that good, solid cookware makes cooking predictable and enjoyable. There are far fewer accidents resulting in ruined meals. Before cooking with the all-clad, my husband thought that the limit of his kitchen abilities was whatever he could cook on the grill. Now he cooks dinner about twice a week; sometimes breakfast, too!

My set of All-Clad is over ten years old; I can't actually tell the difference between my pots and the ones that are only three years old-they all look great in the kitchen, hanging from the potrack. These are industrial-strength showpieces that come with a lifetime warranty. They're a worthy investment, especially if you enjoy food.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I just received this Krups Espresseria automatic machine. I have a Jura ENA 4 at my work so I will try to make some comparisons to them. The Jura is about the same price and they both have very similar features. I was so excited when I found out I would be receiving this Krups machine so that I can make my cappuccino at home too! I am a coffee fool so I make alot. With winter coming up this will be well used. Ok I have been using the Jura for some time at my work and it has been a very nice machine and is easy to setup, clean, and use. The Krups is no exception here as it is very easy to setup. Just fill the water container, bean hopper, set language, ML or OZ for liquid measurement, water hardness and ready to go. I use beans I buy here on Amazon. They are eight Oclock brand 50 % decaf. I chose the fine grind setting and brewed my first Cappuccio in less than a minute and the froth was superb. The coffee taste and strength is every bit as good as the Jura maybe alittle stronger with the Krups. I like that the machine is fully programable for different fill levels of coffee. You can fill one or two cups at a time. The nozzle height can be adjusted for taller cups but will not accommodate tall cups without sliding the drip tray out. The Jura can accommodate tall glasses no problem. The steam wand worked very well with no mess and produced a very nice froth and is fully adjustable for many positions. I really liked the spill tray as it has a float in it that rises to let you know when it is full. The Jura does not have this. Both machines come with a water filter to help reduce the bad flavors and reduce machine descaling frequency. The both come with a starter pack of cleaning tablets. As with any coffee espresso machine it will need cleaning to keep the flavor and machine working properly. It looks like the Krups requires less frequent cleaning. Both the frothing nozzles need cleaning frequently. All in all this is a very nice machine that will see alot of use. Oh yeah I was kind of surprised when I opened the box and noticed a small amount of coffee grinds in the machine. I called Krups customer service and was promptly advised that the machines grinders are tested during the assembly. I found no mention of this in the owners info so I was surprised but it is very nice to know that the machines are quality tested before shipping them out. Oh I should note that Jura does mention in there instructions that small traces of coffee grinds may be found in there machines for the same reason. Well I will try to make some comparisons now.

The Krups you can only use whole beans and no preground coffee.

The Jura has a bypass doser that allows you to use preground coffee.

The Jura does not come with a milk container and must be bought separately for about 80-100 dollars.

The Krups does come with its own stainless steel milk container even though it is not mentioned or shown in any of the pictures. I was really hoping it did come with it. Yeah!!

The Krups is made in France and not Mexico or China.

The Jura has a removable bean container.

The Krups does not have a removable bean container so no quick swapout of beans. Must run them all trough machine.

They both hold about the same amount of old grind cakes at 14.

The Jura needs to be cleaned every 180 cycles.

The Krups needs to be cleaned every 360 cycles. Big plus here!

The Jura takes about 44 minutes on the cleaning cycle.

The Krups take about 22 minutes on the cleaning cycle.

Both have an energy saving mode that is programable.

Both can be changed from ML to Oz for fluid measurement.

Both Krups and Jura come with a 2 year or 6000 cup warranty.

My likes about the Krups are slightly stronger coffee than the Jura.

Less frequent cleaning demands with the Krups.

Krups comes with its own Stainless milk container so you can fill it and put back in fridge when not using. The Jura you must purchase the milk container for 8-100 dollars.

Krups has a drip tray float to remind you when it needs cleaning out.

The Krups costumer service department was very quick and responsive when I called them. Oh yeah and they were all American so I could understand them.

The Krups has a better look for a home than does the Jura in my opinion.

I like being able to see how full the bean container is on the Krups without looking down in it unlike the Jura.

My dislikes abouth the Krups are no removable bean container. So when you want to change coffee beans to another brand you must cycle them through where as the Jura you can remove the bean container and empty it out.

Cannot use preground coffee as an option where as you can on the Jura.

The Krups nozzle does not raise as high as I would like to accommodate taller cups but can if you slide the drip tray out first.

So bottom line would I recommend the Krups Espresseria machine??? Yes I defiantly would!!!

UPDATE:

Ok so I have been using it for some time now and love it more than ever!! My wife too!! When just making a good old fashioned coffee the creama is so rich and yummy. I love it. I am still experimenting with all the minor adjustments you can make to custom tailor it but so far I like the grind set on very fine for a very robust flavor but not bitter at all. I am also loving the included milk container for the milk froth. It is very nice to be able to just fill it, use it, then put back in the fridge when done. Jura makes you pay extra for there milk container so nice job Krups!! Well just wanted to give an update as to how things are going here. Thanks

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We're a 2-3 cup a day coffee household. This doesn't include all of the weekly trips to the coffee shop while at work for more specialized drinks. Prior to getting this espresso maker we simply brewed flavored coffee at home with cheap and disposable coffee makers. We were of course overjoyed to welcome the Krups EA8250001 Espresseria Full Automatic Espresso and coffee Machine into our kitchen. Here are my thoughts;

Pros

+ All in one unit. Stores, grinds, brews and disposes of your coffee. No outside water lines needed.

+ Stainless Steel milk frothing bottle provided. Very nice!

+ Auto clean/rinse cycle. Only needs complete cleaning once every 360 cycles!

+ Modern and sleek black look. Also, very compact in size for an espresso machine.

+ Easy to use digital interface and quick set up.

+ Water proof service guide stored inside a side slot of the machine.

+ Steamer nozzle also dispenses hot water for tea/hot chocolate drinkers.

+ Extremely quick brew time. Less than 2 minutes.

+ Energy efficient and has an auto-off timer.

+ Made in France (not Taiwan or China like many products today).

+ 2 year or 6,000 cup warrantee.

+ Machine alerts you on all cleaning/replacement functions.

+ Tool provided for easy installation of the unit's water filter. Especially useful if you have larger hands.

Cons

Incredibly expensive.

Milk frothing bottle and attachments are a bit cumbersome to use and clean.

Water filters are $18-20 each and need to be replaced every two months.

Unable to use flavored or pre-ground coffee. There's no bypass chamber to change beans. Once your coffee is in the machine it's in there until you use it.

Frother is rather rigid and has limited flexibility. It's also difficult to use on a countertop, especially with larger mugs. You need to have it on the counter edge to even get a larger cup out.

Can be rather noisey, especially early in the morning. Water tank can rattle quite a bit when brewing the coffee.

Clock display doesn't stay on when you're not using the machine.

Water dispenser tray platform is a bit small and while the coffee nozzles do raise, it's not really enough for larger coffee mugs.

Some crucial pieces of the machine are plastic (coffee nozzles, parts of the frother etc.). I would prefer them to be metal as the plastic feels like it could crack from the heat.

The Krups EA8250001 Espresseria Full Automatic Espresso and coffee Machine is something most people would never buy but would love to receive it as a gift. I'm sure there are many of these machines on wedding registries from couples with crossed fingers. For the price this machine should definitely be considered an investment. Spending this much on an espresso machine is difficult to justify. However, if you can afford the purchase price it definitely does what it's supposed to. I can absolutely say that I'm the envy of all my coffee drinking coworkers and friends. I know our household will get many years of use out of it.

This could seriously be the best thing I have ever purchased. It is expensive, but man, it is great to wake up and push 3 different buttons a total of 5 different times and have an excellent cup of cappuccino. It could not be easier. Set up is a breeze. The machine tells you when you need water or a new filter. You can see the coffee beans. There is no mess to clean up. When it is time to empty the spent grounds (about every 10-15 cups) a message comes on, you pull out a side drawer, dump it in the trash, empty and rinse the water tray and ... voila.

We bought this assuming that it would not replace our regular drip coffee maker. But we completely stopped using the coffee maker and instead have cappuccino or cafe creme every day. The automatic cappuccino foamer is really quite clever and easy to clean. We have found that you need milk fat to make a decent foam so use whole milk or add a little 1/2 n 1/2 to whatever reduced fat milk you use and it will make a good foam. It takes a few experiments to see how long you need to let the steam run to get the right amount of milk foam to mix with the strong espresso. We have finally landed on 15 seconds. The machine always comes back to whatever setting you used last, so once you get a setting you like you can pretty much just push a few buttons and your coffee is ready in less than 2 minutes from the time you power up the machine.

It pays to experiment with beans also. We use a mix of 1/2 decaf cafe Britt which is nice and dark and adds an earthy flavor, and 1/2 regular caf Lavazza Super Crema because that seemed to be a consensus good espresso bean. The Lavazza is a medium roast. So now we have the coffee we like, and cappuccinos better than any we can get in a restaurant or coffee shop (always way way too much milk). I am confident we would never use a manual machine. My hats off to people who do. If you are like me and want a great espresso, cappuccino or cafe noisette every day, you will love this machine

Honest reviews on KRUPS EA8250001 Espresseria Full Automatic Espresso Machine

This is the best super automatic espresso machine out there based on my own, super-nerdy formula: "(rich flavor * ease of use) / cost." Dorky, yes, but you're talking to someone who came up with decisionking.com and previously has used a one-touch Tassimo machine in USA, one-touch Philips machine in Spain, and a few other cheap espresso machines including the manual kind. I am a resident of Spain and a US citizen, so I appreciate a good european style "cafe con leche."

The advantages of this Krups machine are that: 1) it's the most compact machine, 2) it's very simple to operate 3) it has the lowest cost of the different super automatic brands (as of 10-26-2011), 4) and it can use oily beans unlike the other different brands of machines. 5) Also, it runs the longest between cleaning cycles (360 cycles) compared to the other brands. The resulting coffee is, of course, rich and smooth and full of flavor. That being said, it is important to note that coffee flavor seems to be more related to the quality/freshness of coffee beans used rather than the machine itself.

The disadvantages of this Krups machine are its high cost (relative to my cheap coffee machines before) and no bypass doser. But both of these disadvantages are minimal especially when you compare the Krups cost to the other super automatic espresso machines. On the other hand, a bypass doser is important for that quick decaf, one would want to make for late night after dinner.

Bottom line is: I'd give this device 4.5 stars since it does not have the bypass doser. But if you want an easy to use, minimal maintenance, one-touch espresso machine, that is compact and costs the least of the super automatics then I think this Krups is the machine you want to invest in.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program First of all when you get this espresso maker it is intimidating. Fortunately it is smarter than you are.

Sitting here sipping my cappuccino while writing this review, I would have to say, using this device and clean up after using it, is wonderful. Having owned simpler less expensive Espresso makers, I would have to say this is the simplest to use of the bunch.

USER'S MANUAL IS SCARY

I brought the user's manual to work to show a co-worker and they laughed at my trepidation around this device. The user's manual is scary, the device is not. There are only 20 pages in English, but since it is a multi-lingual user's manual, you get the impression of a tome as it is 60 pages to include 2 more languages. It looks like a lot of steps, but it isn't.

SETUP

This machine has you check your waters hardness (it provides the means to do this as well) and program this into the coffee maker. If you have a filter install this goes in first. When you first turn on the system it has a lot of questions, date, time, etc. Simple enough. They then suggest you prime the filter and then do a rinse of the system before your initial use as well. All really simple. Add coffee beans choose your coffee type and then you are in business. It really was that simple. I keep repeating that word because, quite frankly as intimidating as the user's guide the coffee maker itself was not.

NOISE

Wow, is this thing noisy. Between the grinding and the steam sound, and clunks closing this valve and that, this makes a racket. It startled me a few time. Having previously had an espresso machine, I was somewhat prepared, but the grinding and automatic aspect of the espresso dispensing, were new to me.

WELL HOW WAS THE COFFEE

So much of this is subjective. I read that you don't want an oily coffee or one with any flavoring and a colleague suggested donut house blend rather than an espresso blend, so this is what I chose for my first few cups. I thought the Espresso was a bit sour, the long coffee was pretty good and the Cappuccino spectacular. I need to experiment a bit more. But, hey, this was my first bit of coffee and I used another person's recommendation.

AUTO CAPPUCCINO MAKER

This was included with the coffee maker I got... I'm in love. I never cared for holding a metal cup under the frother of previous machines, so I dove at this. Took me a minute to figure out how to hook it up. Mind you, I had not taken everything out of the box and did not see the connector hose, so that wasn't the device's fault. However once hooked up, this device performed seemlessly and I ended up with perfectly frothed milk in my cup and topped that off with some Espresso. MMMMMMMMMM. The manual then suggests running a steam cycle after, so then all you really need to clean thoroughly is the container that held the milk.

AFTER A WEEKS USAGE:

I have used this every day this week, alternating through all the coffee types. Mostly Long coffees and Cappuccinos. Imagine making a Cappuccino on a rushed work day morning. It was so easy I had to.

A few times the machine prompted a rinse cycle for it's own maintenance and let me know when I needed more water. The coffee beans you can see, so I never ran out of those. Easy to add too. You just pour them in. I had to empty the water tray and the coffee grounds when prompted. Simple easy and only a few times after about 5 uses.

To compare this with my previous machines, I don't even handle the coffee, except to pour beans in the top, and then empty the nearly dry grounds when the machine prompts me. I just pull out the drawer and flip over in the trash. There is no measuring, no rinsing of little hot parts.

For the Cappuccino maker. I pour milk in the container, put the lid on and hook this equipment up to the steam line. I put my cup under it, wait for it to heat up and then with no interaction from me, other than to push the button, it fills my cup with frothy hot milk. I then, put the up under the other nozzles and tell it to put two shots of espresso in it. After that, while I'm drinking my Cappuccino, I run the steam cycle on the Cappuccino maker, clean out the milk holder and I'm done. I think it is more work to get one from a barista!

UPDATE AFTER 1 MONTH OF USAGE:

Though I have a Keurig and a regular coffee maker besides, this coffee maker is used for my daily coffee. That tells you, I really like it. I alternate between long coffees, cappuccinos and espressos. Only when I want a flavored coffee, do I opt for the Keurig these days. The rich flavor of the long coffees and the crema have me preferring what this machine can do.

I like the fact the machine prompts you to empty the coffee discard drawer and the water trough, as well as filling the water reservoir. It can do this mid cycle with apparently no harm. I'm still experimenting with what type of coffee I like best however. I had used a friend's recommendation to start and I'm working through the various coffee roasts to find what works best for me.

Even though with one month of use I have not yet been prompted to do a major cleaning routine. I should look into a new water filter, but I understand using one is not mandatory. Will update again, once a major cleaning is needed.

I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Calphalon. I picked this peeler up because I couldn't find the one we had. I just used it and I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised at how easilly it peels. The blade is long and freely rotates. I'm no engineer, but I think the shape really helps. I paid about the same amount for my last peeler, but it got the peel stuck in it constantly because it peeled so thick. This peeling is refreshing to use. The peels are very thin and it works very quickly. This is probably the last peeler I'll ever own.

I'm typically a fan of caphalon products; they are usually well-made and well-thought out. But this peeler just doesn't work easily. It's very sharp so that's nice. but it's hard to get the right angle of the blade on the produce you're trying to peel. It took me at least twice as long to peel with this peeler than my old one. Sure, it's got calphalon quality, but quality is sort of irrelevant when it's so difficult to use the thing.

I've had many other veg peelers thru the years and seems they all hurt my forefinger when using them for any vegetable except carrots. This one cost a little more but well worth it. Finally a peeler that makes peeling sweet potatoes a breeze! I haven't tried it on Butternut Squash but feel it will work as well. Thanks Calphalon!

Honest reviews on Calphalon Gadgets Vegetable Peeler

This peeler is hard to get to peel. You have to peel TOWARD you -you are supposed to peel AWAY from you. I now have a nice cut on my finger. I really miss my old cheap peeler I bought at the grocery store, will need to buy another this weekend.

I've had this peeler for about a year now. It is comfortable in your hand, sharp, and overall does a good job peeling. However, not too long after I bought it, the blade started pulling out of the handle. I always hand wash it, so it's not that I'm abusing the product. That said, I jam the blade back in the handle and continue to use it. It works fine, but I sure wish the blade didn't pull out of the handle. I expected more from you Calphalon!
