Great pan for those big crowds. I've had this for a few weeks and used it several times. Cooks great and cleans up nice. This fry pan is HUGE. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit in my oven because of the long handle.

This 7pc set is an amazing example of All-Clad quality. The 5 layers alternating of steel and aluminum produce incredible results. However, when this item was added to Amazon, the description entered was incorrect. In the description it says you will receive:

7-Piece Set includes: 10" fry pan. 3-qt. sauté pan with lid. 4-qt. saucepan with lid. 7-qt. stockpot with lid. Please note: lids are counted as individual pieces.

When in fact the set includes:

10" fry pan; 1.5-quart sauce pan with lid; 3-quart saute pan with lid; 8-quart stock pot with lid

You may confirm this on All-Clad's website.

I just wanted to make that clear in case someone receives this set and thinks they received the wrong items.

Other than that, this set is top notch!

Discount KitchenAid Blade Coffee Grinder

KitchenAid 4-oz. Blade Coffee Grinder, Empire Red
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
This is the best coffee grinder I have ever owned. It is powerful...which makes the grinding go quickly. I have always had a mess with grinders as you transfer the grounds to the lid to then put in the coffeemaker. Then, when you put the lid back on, big mess! This one, the grinding "cup" just lifts out...the lid never gets grounds in it. Fantastic! It's also large enough to grind enough beans for a full 12-cup batch of coffee...and I drink strong coffee so I use a lot of beans. Seriously, best ever.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This is the best dry grinder that I've ever owned. It is very attractive, compact, well designed & does the job. The cup can be removed to empty the ground item, and can be put in the dishwasher. This is a big plus. Also, the cup is much larger than the other spice mills that I've had.

I use this grinder to grind spices, flax and black sesame, and it does a great job with each and every one of these. The plastic grinders are unsafe, since over time the plastic is damaged (gets cloudy) by the hard coffee bean and spices, and particles of plastic is getting in your food.

I searched for a stainless steel grinding bowl for safety reasons, and found this. This is a little gem. I only wish that kitchenaid sells extra cups.

Best Deals for KitchenAid Blade Coffee Grinder

Let me begin with a confession: I'm not a coffee goar-may. I don't ask much of my coffeemaker and grinder beyond a good cuppa in the morning.

Having said that, I do grind my own beans daily. I've owned the Krups unit for several years. It was reliable and easy to use. I was happy with it. It was happy with me. We raised our cups of coffee together. But as we advanced together beyond what could be comfortably called middle age, I got an itch for a nice little grinder with more pizazz. My relationship with the reliable little Krups got stale.

I picked up this little KitchenAid unit up on a website. KitchenAid looked hot, in tune with the times, and built like she could deliver. And boy, can she deliver. One of the things I like about her is she's quiet. If you have company sleeping in, there's no racket to embarrass you and rouse the guests sleepy-eyed and groggy out of the guest bedroom wondering if someone is getting killed. Krups was a screamer.

And trust me, KitchenAid has all the moves down. If you push the right button, she'll grind your beans to a state of perfection.

No, Krups and I are finished. It is so over. She gave me the best years of her life, but all good things must end. I hope she can find a new home. I don't have a single pang of regret that KitchenAid has moved in, and my beans have never been in better shape.

Honest reviews on KitchenAid Blade Coffee Grinder

This grinder had some great features like being able to remve the cup for washing, but I have a laundry list of issues with it. First, the floor model I tinkered with came apart easily and came back together smoothly. Not so with the one that came out of our box. We had to man handle the cup out and the "pegs" didn't line up quite right without some fiddling. Our biggest problem is we need a fine grind, but this grinder did a superficial grind before heaping it all to the edge where the blade would no longer do anything. Even after shaking the grounds back down twice, the grind we were left with had chunks in it. Very disappointing for a KitchenAid product.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for KitchenAid Blade Coffee Grinder

I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this coffee mill. Even the expensive brands seemed to have poor reviews and the two main complaints in those reviews (not grinding all the beans and leaving chunks, and being too messy because there was not a removable cup) are NOT an issue with this model as far as I can tell. I've owned this about three weeks and couldn't be more pleased, in fact it exceeded every expectation. When I saw the blades for the first time, I assumed it was going to also leave some chucks of unground beans in the receptacle. Never has it done that. The grind is perfectly even and fine. I was also surprised that it is relatively quiet when grinding. This unit is VERY easy to clean and not messy because the receptacle lifts out and you empty that into the coffee filter rather than turning over the whole unit. Plus, both the grinding receptacle and the lid can be washed so you could easily switch from grinding coffee beans one day to grinding some peppercorns the next. You could never do that with a coffee grinder that didn't have a lift-out receptacle that you could throw in the dishwasher because there would be residual flavor in the receptacle. I have not tried grinding spices with it, but judging on how well it works with whole coffee beans I think it would do fine. I expected to like this unit, but thought I would have some of the same issues that other folks had experienced like the receptacle being somewhat difficult to lift out, or the lid getting covered with grounds. Honestly, each time I have used it the receptacle has been a piece of cake to lift out, I've had zero trouble with that. And even when I fill the receptacle full to grind a lot of beans I have yet to get the clear lid dirty with grinds. I realize I'm praising this thing to the point where it sounds perfect, but since I love it so far I really can't think of a negative. It's attractive on the counter too.

Update June 16, 2012 : Still 100% happy with this purchase. Even when I fill the reservoir full with beans and grind a lot at once, it never leaves any unground beans. Not even a small chunk remains, there is just a perfectly smooth, fine grind. And it grinds a full reservoir extremely fast (in mere SECONDS). I've put the removable reservoir in the dishwasher several times so far, no problem. I don't wash it every day. I wash it about once a week. I've never had loose grounds on the countertop and it's never made a mess, so I'm unsure why some reviews seem to say it made a mess. I'm being fully honest that I cannot think of a single thing that I dislike about this appliance. P.S. I don't put the clear acrylic top in the dishwasher. It's never dirty so I've never washed the lid, just the stainless steel bean reservoir.

Cheap Sushi mold / Musubi Maker

Sushi mold / Musubi Maker
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I don't know why people advertise these molds as a sushi maker, since any person who actually knows how to make sushi would use their hands, finger molds, or bamboo rolling mats to shape the rice. Real sushi makers would not be caught dead with plastic molds, period.

This mold is meant and designed for making ONIGIRI, NOT SUSHI. It even says that on the packaging, so I don't know why there is so much confusion over this appliance.

That being said, I love this tool. I know how to make onigiri by hand, but this does yield cleaner and nicer looking results. It's very easy to get the onigiri out, too. If you want cuter designs, then I recommend buying flower and heart shapes too.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I got this one as well as another one, and ended up liking the other Japanese Sushi Mold (Triangle, Pink)one better. The reason for that was the inside texture this one has very little, and the rice stuck inside too much. It was kind of a pain to get out, and pushing the little "button" on the one side to push it out put a divit into the onigiri that was dorky looking and showed the filling.

Best Deals for Sushi mold / Musubi Maker

Very Easy to use, and even easier to clean! Would recommend Gliding a knife around the inside edge of the rice mold to loosen the rice before trying to pop the mold out.

Honest reviews on Sushi mold / Musubi Maker

It is simple to used. I made about 20 onigiris en a few minutes and they turn out perfect! Totally recommend it!

I used this gizmo for the first time and I have found a spot for it next to the rectangular musubi maker. Just fill one or two cavities with calrose rice, compress with the lid and use the little pusher flap to pop them out. A bit of umeboshi in the middle while you're building it and sprinkled with furikake after you pop them out. You're off with a great bento box.

Calphalon Classic Bakeware 9-by-13-Inch Rectangular Nonstick Brownie Pan
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I've owned my Calphalon Brownie Pan for 6 years, and absolutely LOVE it! I'm ordering a 2nd & 3rd one today. We have the largest toaster oven that I could find, and this pan fits in it. We've used it for everything from baking fish, making cinnamon rolls, baking cakes, broiling steak, garlic bread, cookies.... and I think we've made a couple of batches of brownies in it. With 5 kids, it tends to rotate in and out of the toaster oven a LOT, and has held up wonderfully. I'm ordering 2 more so that we don't have to wash it 3 & 4 times a day. (It DOES go through the dishwasher, too! And that's a HUGE perk at our house!)

This is the second one of these pans that I have purchased. We have 2 homes and I liked it so much that I bought another so I would have one in both places. It is perfect for any brownie recipe for a 13x9 pan. The brownies bake up perfectly. Just remember to line your pan with parchment paper that hangs over the narrower 2 edges. You will be very happy with your baking results.

Best Deals for Calphalon Classic Bakeware 9-by-13-Inch Rectangular Nonstick

I bought this pan especially to bake biscuits in. I needed a non-stick pan with low sides and this one works perfect! My home-made biscuits just slide off and I just wipe if off with a sudsy washcloth, rinse, dry and put it away. It is made of heavy gauge metal and it's very sturdy.

Honest reviews on Calphalon Classic Bakeware 9-by-13-Inch Rectangular Nonstick

This is a decent heavy weight pan, but I've now used it four times and I've got grease stains that will not come off. The culpret? Cinnamon Rolls. Seriously I have a Cinnamon Roll stain on it that will not come off. I didn't burn them it's just a grease stain.

It's better than the terrible one that came with my toaster oven (which is what I got this for) but I'm pretty dissapointed I expect more from Calphalon.

Great product. Nonstick works great and doesn't stain and lifts off. I have always put and still spray foil with Pam and then place in pan. Wish there was a Calphalon pizza pan 12inch with holes. I even called and they do not make it. I would use both in my Calphalon toaster oven.

Perfect fit in my Le Creuset 3 1/2 quart round French Oven. I have found that I need to treat my Le Creuset cookware the same as I would non-stick cookware: any metal can scratch it. So I replaced my old metal veggie steamer with this one. As far as it not having a center post, I lost the center post that came with my metal one many years ago, so I could care less!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I bought this steamer about a year ago, and from the first, I just loved it. I had no idea how much better veggies taste steamed than boiled. Much more flavorful and fresh-tasting! It fits both my small and medium sized Revere cookware pots. So easy to use just push down into the pot and steam away. When done, just toss into the dishwasher. It comes out looking like new every time. So far I have only used it for veggies, but would definitely consider steaming other types of food.

I would have given this five stars, but I find it very hard to get it out of the pan once the veggies are done. It's a pretty tight fit even in a medium pan and when I pull on the loops to get the whole steamer out with forks or tongs, etc., it just flips over and the veggies end up in the water. You really need three hands to get it out correctly one to hold the handle of the pot, and two to yank the steamer out by the loops. You could just scoop the veggies out of the pan without pulling the whole steamer out, but I consider this a flaw in the design.

On the whole, I would recommend this to anyone.

Best Deals for Chef'n Sleekstor VeggiSteam Silicone Steamer

this product is addictive. You may feel a strong urge to use often. I use daily. I gave one to my 75 year old aunt. She said it was stupid. Now she uses daily. Says it is the most useful thing she has ever had in her kitchen. When she started cooking she didn't have runing water. Figure that. It fits in my 5 1/2 qt Staub and my 1 1/2 qt AllClad. I like to put garlic & stuff in the water to infuse into the vegetables, shrimp, rolls, potatos. Fill a 2 cup plastic container half full of prepared cake mix. Put it in the steamer (no "garlic & stuff" in the water). Cover. Nuke 7 min on medium. Best, most moist cake ever. Little Jiffy Mix is right size.

Honest reviews on Chef'n Sleekstor VeggiSteam Silicone Steamer

I purchased this because my metal steamer was scratching the bottom of my non-stick pot, but the functionality leaves much to be desired. Because it doesn't fan out like the metal steamer, the sides fold in, reducing useable space and allowing smaller veggies to fall through the cracks (minus one star). Then, once your food is cooked, it's virtually impossible to get it out without everything dropping in the water and having to use a colander (minus two stars). The flat shape is the problem here when trying to pull it out of the pot by the handles, the whole thing just flattens and either turns sideways in the pot (dumping the food in the water) or you end up with a flat steamer and a pile of food that is threatening to fall all over the stove or sink.

I like the concept, but I'm afraid I'll be going back to the metal steamer and just letting my pot get scratched (or maybe buying a cheap thrift-store pot just for steaming), because this one is just too much of a hassle.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Chef'n Sleekstor VeggiSteam Silicone Steamer

This is a great product. It's flexible, so it can fit in any small to medium-sized pot. It cleans up beautifully in dishwasher. It is much easier to store than a metal steamer. In fact, my mother had the great idea of storing it as a spacer between my non-stick frying pans, so the top one doesn't scratch the one underneath. Have you ever had a kitchen gadget that multi-tasks as it's being STORED? My one complaint was well-articulated by another reviewer: it needs one more handle. It makes a great little gift too.

I have been looking for a good non-stick skillet. I've used non-stick skillets from All-Clad and Calphalon but they all had one problem: peeling of the non-stick layer. I saw an unused All-Clad skillet from their new line at Williams-Sonoma and it had scratches on the non-stick surface.

I found what I was looking for! This fry pan is excellent! It is made in Switzerland. It is big. The outside diameter is 13" and the bottom is almost 9 3/4". It requires a large burner. I have a Miele electric cooktop which has a burner large enough for this skillet. I have tried it over a smaller burner and it worked as well. The food browned evenly over the surface of the skillet. The cleaning is easy. I only have a small issue with the lid. The lid assembly was easy. However, during washing water gets into the steam vent and then it comes out after the lid is dried. It takes few drying sweeps to avoid water streaks on the lid.

Overall, I am very pleased with this skillet. I am looking forward to getting more skillets from Swiss Diamond.

Update. May 2009. Zero stars.

Like its predecessors from All-Clad and Calphalon, this skillet stopped being non-stick after about a year. It wasn't abused in any way: no metal utensils and no prolonged cooking of foods other than pancakes and fish. Yet, the center of the skillet began to darken first, than the rest of the skillet has darkened. I used baking soda (suggested by All-Clad website). It did remove some brown residue but the skillet is completely not non-stick, everything sticks to it even more.

I am happy with a non-stick skillet from Circulon infinite line. I bought an 11" skillet at Macy's for $20 as a product promotion item. The best non-stick that I have is from LeCreuset. Unfortunately, the largest one LeCreuset made was 9" in diameter.

I found one of these locally at just below Amazon price, and bought it to try out. Now that I have used it for several months, I highly recommend it even at full list price, and am saving up to purchase a complete set to replace my other worn out pots and pans.

First things first:

This is one of the best nonstick surfaces I have ever used. Messes clean up better than from Teflon coated pans, even after sitting and getting cold and hard. I have never had to use more effort than simply wiping off with a kitchen sponge and some warm soapy water.

Unlike other surfaces, this one holds food in place until you are ready to move it. Things don't slide around, so they can properly sear and brown. This is also handy for things like fried eggs. I fried an egg just today and it came out perfect. With a little bacon grease for flavor, the surface gave the egg white just enough tension that the cooking egg held together into a nice 4 inch circle instead of spreading thin all over the place. I have suffered a lot of frustration with other cooking surfaces over this.

Heat transfer is incredible. When you put food on this pan after preheating, it sears up and browns immediately. I'd say it equals cast iron in this respect, with the added bonus of being nonstick.

Heat distribution and retention is also very good. Not quite as good as cast iron here, but then nothing else ever will be -and even though the pan is heavy, it is still considerably lighter than my 12 inch cast iron.

About the only caution I would have is that, despite the manufacturer's hype, the surface is NOT 100% resistant to whatever you throw at it. I did a controlled test on a part of the skillet that will never see food, and you CAN put a nice scratch in the diamond-coat with a strong stainless steel tool. So be sure to stick to wood and synthetics, not steel. However, to be fair, it IS tougher than any Teflon surface I have tried, and about equal to some of the fancier anodized finishes.

The handle is good and solid, but you may want to grab it and test it yourself in the store before you buy it all depends on each individual's hands. The helper handle could be improved, however. Because the helper is integrated with the cooking surface, it heats up. You need to use mitts to use the helper. Seriously. That surface will scar you for life if you grab it while hot. Always treat it like it is hot cast iron, because it will burn you the same way.

Some people will complain the handle isn't riveted into place. Those people need to embrace the 21st century. The handle is very secure without rivets. Unless you plan on using this pan as some sort of bludgeoning weapon on a regular basis, the lack of rivets poses no problem. Moreover, the rivetless design ensures that the entire interior surface of the skillet is smooth and uniformly nonstick. I personally have always found the rivets in other "nonstick" pans to be the surface area where food always manages to get stuck. No rivets for me, please.

The lid is decent but it is just a lid. Nothing too fancy. It is a good grade of glass with a vent-lid handle. When you close the vent, it holds steam very well. With the vent open, you get a pretty decent evaporation rate, so you can quickly reduce liquids by retaining heat by letting moisture escape.

Like I said, I want to buy a complete set. Highly recommended.

Best Deals for Swiss Diamond Nonstick Covered Fry Pan

Over the years, my wife and I have tried all sorts of cookware. We have a good set of Calphalon stainless-steel cookware, but we've never mastered the art of cooking sticky dishes such as eggs without a non-stick pan. We've tried every type of non-stick pan we've encountered. Some are non-stick for a short time only before the surface gets mucked up. Our best Teflon pans, such as those by Calphalon, seem to remain non-stick for a very long time with careful cleaning, but recently we've learned that when heated, Teflon (PFOA) cookware outgases chemicals that are definitely not good for you. (An advisory committee has recommended that the EPA classify PFOA as a possible carcinogen.)

Swiss Diamond is PFOA-free and fantastically non-stick. We've used our two skillets extensively to cook eggs and to brown meat, and they look and work like new. Nothing sticks. Omelets are easy to prepare. Cleanup is a breeze. The lids have vents that can be opened or closed, a useful feature. The manufacturer says you can use metal utensils, but we've stuck with plastic, so I can't say how they'll hold up to contact with metal. I can't recommend Swiss Diamond cookware too highly. It is the stuff I've been looking for for decades.

Honest reviews on Swiss Diamond Nonstick Covered Fry Pan

I have three of the fry pans now. Started out with the small 8" fry pan, and was so pleased with it I purchased a good 6 months or so following. My third was the 12" fryer. My fourth was the actual replacement of my 8" pan. The surface on these pans seem to last just around a year. I had no problem with getting my first one replaced with a new one, so the customer service was wonderful. I actually thought we may have been at fault for the first pans surface wearing out, but after babying around this 12" pan for a year it has done the same thing. I will attempt to get this newer pan replaced again, and will not purchase any more of these overpriced pans. I will buy a cheaper nonstick pan, and continue to use my stainless steel cookware.

We searched locally for an 8 inch frying pan with a lid. It didn't seem to us that we were trying to find anything obscure yet, after looking in store after store, I finally decided to try Amazon. I was pleased to find both this one, as well as a more expensive one by Caphalon. I hemmed and hawed over whether I should get the more expensive pan, since I was was more familiar with the Caphalon name, but ultimately I bought this Swiss Diamond pan.

If you are indecisive like me, FEAR NOT. This pan is terrific and exceptionally well made. It's heavy not at all flimsy. It feels just as well made as Magnalite or Caphalon. It very much resembles cast iron in the way it feels, too. For a small pan, it's surprisingly thick and heavy. The handle is solid and it cooks food beautifully. I highly recommend this item.
