This is a cool scale, with a retro/antique look. I don't think it looks cheap. It is actually a lot larger than I thought it would be, though, so make sure you have room on your counter. Removable tray is nice because you can put wet messy items directly on the scale and then just rinse off. You can adjust the calibration manually to zero, if you want to use another type of dish on the scale. I'm happy with my purchase.

Overall I like the look and performance of the scale. The bowl is large and it easy to read all measured weights. The only complaint is the cheesy plastic-plexi-glass face and the stainless steel constuction is somewhat light weight. I would pay more for a heavier construction. The scale is made in China.

When I read others' comments about the metal being "light weight" I about gagged what, you want to use it for armored transport? A suspension bridge perhaps? What are you weighing, a tuna? This contender is solid state and it enters the ring at about the weight of what a double pack of ground beef (+ one more slab) would be, if that's any help. `Heavy' is a term of art, but the one thing this scale is _not_ is light or puny. It's adjustable, with a lovely removable stainless steel bowl for which its 4 positioning prongs actually help to "grip" parcels when you're not using the bowl. The prongs make it thoughtfully adaptable to using other bowls, too.

I bought it for use in my business. That's right. I often have to weigh parcels exceeding 5 lbs., and I'm just sick of Pelouze® ripping off the business community with their midget, hard-to-read, overpriced scales with a weighing surface the size of a playing card. And how brilliant for Polder® to make it 11 lbs. instead of 10! Most delivery pricing has a cut-off at exactly 10 lbs., so this way you can tell when you're _over_ 10 lbs., and by how much. I have no complaints at all about this scale. Its size is perfect-just right to fit on the corner of my counter. It is easy to zero out and the bowl is large enough for most of my kitchen needs. I use it frequently for ebay shipping and it's very accurate.

One of the other reviewers mentioned that it's lightweight-this is true and I can see why they would have an issue with it if they're going for that retro feel, it looks like it would be heavier than it is. However, I think making it actually heavier would be more of an inconvenience than anything else, since its current design is nicely portable.

All in all, two thumbs up.

I had put off buying a dutch oven for quite some time, just because they are always SO heavy and SO expensive (the good ones, anyway).

I was at Sur la Table looking at dutch ovens when I lifted the lid off a Emile Henry Flame Top and very nearly threw the lid backwards over my shoulder because I expected it to be about twice as heavy as it actually was. I was dubious; a ceramic dutch oven? It was on sale so I bought it, thinking that I could return it if I didn't like it.

I don't like it. I LOVE it. So far everything has cooked absolutely perfectly in it. The ceramic retains and radiates heat better then metal, excellently searing pot roasts and then simmering evenly on the very lowest gas heat setting. If my Flame Top went missing today I'd buy another one without hesitation. This is 100% heirloom cookware: it's going to be in your family, being used, for a long time.

To address the complaint that the Flame Top retains odors, all I can say is that I never had this problem, but with two caveats. The first is that the reviewer didn't state if she seasoned her Flame Top as recommended by the manufacturer (instructions are both in the box and on the website). The ceramic glaze needs to be "set" by simmering either milk or water with dry rice in it before it's first real use. If this step is skipped and the pot is instead seasoned with tomato sauce, then I imagine there would be a problem. The second issue is that of tomato sauce in general. Highly acidic foods cooked in any lightly porous cookware are going to leave an odor behind, at least for a little while, that's why tomato-based sauces should always be cooked in steel. Like I said, I've cooked a range of stinky, odorous foods in my Henry pot and it doesn't smell at all.

I've used a lot of different types of cookware through the years---cast iron, clad cast iron, aluminum clad, teflon coated, etc (both lower and higher priced). The FLAME TOP series are the only ones that can go in the oven, on the stove top, in the fridge, microwave, etc. Fantastic heat distribution with no hot spots or burning. Extremely easy to keep clean. Due to higher cost, I've accumulated a set over the recent past and have donated all of my other cookware! Buy one and try it, you WILL be amazed!

I am completely satisfied with this product. I find that I am using it everyday for all of my cooking needs. I even cook rice in it! Fantastic for browning meat, draining and popping in the oven with other ingredients.

I have prepared 2 dishes using this oven and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. I prepared a swiss steak recipe by Alton Brown using some venison steaks and some sweet smoked paprika that I also ordered from Amazon. I also prepared a variation of chicken cacciatore by imitating a recipe by Rachel Ray using pine nuts as the coating. This oven cooks great and cleans up with no problem.

I love this pot. I can't use the enameled cast iron pieces because they are too heavy, but this pot has great features that meet those needs for me. The red is a deep rich shade that is inviting to look at and to serve from. I found it more attractive than it appears in the picture, more old-worldly, as though you'd had it in your Tuscan Kitchen for a hundred years. The finish is smooth, but with a bit of texture which I find more appealing than the slick enamel finish of the cast iron pieces.

It's an ideal size for a pot roast, family sized casserole, chicken stew or even baking a large loaf of bread, all of which I've done so far. I've found it cleans easily when I first spray it with olive oil. It does get really hot so good pot holders are essential for handling it, but the side handles and the top handle are a good size and I've never felt insecure taking it out of the oven.

It is sturdier than I expected and after using it several times and running it through the dishwasher I no longer worry about it being fragile. I followed directions to 'season' it by boiling some milk in it before first use and have not had an issue with retained odor.

If, like me, you can't deal with the heavy cast iron pieces, you may find this is the perfect alternative. Highly recommended.

After spending the long weekend cleaning out kitchen cabinets, getting rid of old dishes, pots, and containers with lost covers, I purchased this as a replacement. I love it. It's a beautiful, warm tomato red color. The casserround is roomy enough for cooking large portions, or making a dinner for two. A big selling point with me was the handles. Previously I had 15yo French white Corningware. This is a huge improvement. This is my second piece of RR's stoneware collection. Next up for me is the Bubble and Brown 2piece set.

I was buying this as a gift for my daughter-in-law and have always been leery of brands I have never heard of, especially when buying a gift, so I went with the famous Rachael Ray. We could not be happier!

It is beautiful, the color is bright and shiny. The stoneware makes for even heating and cooking.

It not only looks great but the design is very useful. A good solid handle on top to easily lift the lid off. A nice LARGE handle on each end to make it easy to pick up and serve from.

Just a quick comment (not at all a negative) is to make sure this is the size you are looking for, it not huge. I will be back to purchase a much larger one soon, and will definitely go with Rachael Ray again.

I really like this casserole dish and used it for the first time for Easter. I am a little disappointed that it cannot be used on the stovetop, but I knew this when I bought the product. I really like the color and simplistic look of this dish, and then it also comes with a nice lid on top. It hold about the same amount as your normal 8X8 and seems to cook the same also. The only drawback to this is that it is kind of heavy, so if you have arthritis I wouldn't suggest it unless you are able to go to a Bed Bath and Beyond or JCPenney to feel how comfortable you are with it. I brought this baby to my mother in laws and everybody commented on it and asked where I got it. My mother in law likes it so much she wants me to get her one for mother's day in yellow. Anyway, I would definitely suggest to a friend!

First off this pan is deeper than most small fry pans and with the curved sides it's great for sautéing. The balance and weight is great for our gas stove. We don't have to try to balance it on the grates. And no tipping over. This pan is also 8 1/2" and you won't think there was much difference between an 8 in. Love that you don't need to use spray (its true, you don't!), heat is distributed perfectly and clean up is a breeze. Haven't done the egg test but we have made pancakes and I can tell you I've never seen more perfectly even cooked pancakes (at home). Highly recommend!

-Non-stick works really well; there is hardly any sauce left in the pot/pan after you simply pour it out.

Love the pots and pans. The silicone handles don't get hot and it looks very nice. Cleans very easy and the price is fantastic! No matter where I shopped I couldn't find a better deal than Amazon. Now the down side, When I recieved the pots, on the dutch oven there was a manufactures defect on the bottom of the pot. The shinny, ribbed silver part was incomplete and it had some pretty deep scratches on it. I called the number provided in the Farberware box as directed by farberware and customer service so rudley told me they wont deal with it. Even though it was a manufactures defect, farberware won't honor thier warranty because I got the set off Amazon and they don't carry that set as an open stock item. So now I have to ship the entire package back to amazon to get a replacement of only the dutch oven. Amazon's customer service was great, farberwares on the other hand needs a whole lot of improvement.

I've been very happy with this set, especially the silicone handles as they really do stay cool. They're a huge step up from what we've been using (about 15 year old cheap and rather heavy cookware hooray for the student life). The only thing I might say is that they are quite easily scratched with metal utensils, probably a no-brainer I know but it was a little easier than I was expecting. Overall I love them though. They are made of aluminum so they are light and cook evenly, and the handles won't burn you.

This is a great pan!! I started making bread this year and also bought a NorPro pan that was recommended by another baker. Compared to the Norpro, this pan exceeds my expectations! With the Norpro, I *always* have to use a knife to loosen the bread to get it out and then *scrub* to clean the breadcrumbs off the side. With the USA Pans, it's a breeze!! I treat both pans the same way, but the bread comes out easily and cleanly with the USA Pan. Needless to say, the Norpro stays in my cabinet unless I have to use it. I really like these pans, want more and plan on replacing my baking pans with USA Pans as needed. Best of all, they are made in the USA!

This is a well made, high quality pan that does a great job of baking. As long as you hand wash and immediately dry, this pan should have long life. However, it is NOT dishwasher safe as the aluminized steel will corrode. After using this for several months one of my kids accidently put this through the dishwasher and the surface finish is now ruined.

I have no idea what others are using this rack for. I purchased it to put in the bottom of my pressure cookers when I need an iteam to be fairly high up off the floor of the cooker. I wasn't sure I'd like this pot all that much, but now I don't think I can live without it. Being deep, it's perfect for boiling pasta for two, and by using the lid to drain, you can add all the rest of the ingredients and toss it right in the pot, then serve. Yet when the lid is set not to drain, it is heavy and tight enough you can use it to steam cook rice as well. The silicone handles on the pot and lid are a very nice touch.

This heavy weight (tall) pot along with cooking contents is estimated to weigh over 10 lbs. A helper handle to assist with straining would certainly be a nice addition. Other than that, Anolon 'Advanced' is one of the best. There are pouring spouts on each side. This makes it the only pot I have ever seen that is 'southpaw' friendly. This beauty heats evenly and is a snap to clean.

12/5/05 Update: I recently used this pot to boil some Russets for mashed potatos. When I went to strain them, the weight of 2 qts. of water (4 lbs.), plus 1 lb. of Russets, plus the 3 1/2 lb. pot, plus 'X' pounds of pressure on the lid to keep the contents from spilling out was just too overwhelming for 1 elderly male's hand/arm. I would rerate this to 3-Stars if the primary user will be elderly (or a woman who is not into body building). For the more youthful of you, the lack of a helper handle will not seem to be as great an issue and the 4-Star rating would be appropriate.

12/22 Update: I finally 'caved' and am giving this to my son (who won the SE benchpress championship some years ago).

I've had this pot for about 2 months now and for the most part I've found it be be an excellent pot. It's easy to clean and it looks nice. I bought this pot in part because of the straining lid, but I haven't used that function more than a handful of times since I often avoid using it so that I have one less lid to wash.

My one complaint is that the insulating grip is flush with the (hot) metal part of the handle closest to the pot. Because of this, there's a likelihood for skin-metal contact, especially since this pot can get a bit heavy and thus encourages a closer grip distance; I've scorched my index finger a couple of times while grappling with the handle. If it weren't for this design flaw, I'd be perfectly happy with this pot.

This pot is slimmer than a lot of saucepans but it's a bit taller. The material is thinner, so the pot doesn't weigh as much as the commercial grade version. The lid doesn't lock, but most people should figure that based on the price. Straining can be difficult but easily solved by leaning the pot against the edge of the sink over a potholder so it doesn't slip. It's a good pot for the price, non-stick, tall, handle is sturdy.

These are a really pretty bowl. I was so disappointed when our order came and 2 of the bowls were broken...actually shattered is more like it. I have never had a piece of melamine break before so was pretty surprised. We ended up sending them back as they were damaged. Okay, I admit it, I own many different styles of these pans -I am attracted to the various designs and high quality. Initially I was surprised at the price tag but as is often the case, you get what you pay for. Properly cared for, this pan will last a lifetime. The pan is particularly lovely because of the three different flowers -rose, sunflower and daisy.

Pan preparation is important so don't skip this step. Spray Baker's Joy (cooking spray that contains flour and is designed for baking) liberally in the pan to capture all details, then turn the pan upside down over paper towels to drain while you prepare the batter. The recipe that comes with the pan is delicious but a cake mix may be altered to work well in the pan. A dense cake, like a pound cake is the goal. There are many recipes on the internet recipe/cooking sites. In a search engine type in the words -recipe for bundt cake from mix. A typical alteration includes an additional egg and substituing yogurt or sour cream (if desired, non-fat versions of the dairy products also work) for the liquid. The thicker the cake batter the more detail in the cake. Before placing it in the oven, give the pan a good rap or two on the counter to release any air bubbles that might interfere with the finished design.

Be sure to let the cake cool upright in the pan for 10 minutes before unmolding. Right from the oven the cakes are too fragile to unmold and they can easily fall apart, but if they stay in the pan too long they begin to adhere and may stick. If too much batter was used and the cake has risen above the mold, after cooling, a serrated bread knife, held almost flush with the pan, can quickly remove the excess. Once cool, the finished cakes are distinctive and just a light dusting of powdered sugar will make the details pop. Lighter batters show off the design more clearly -white, yellow and spice cake. It is possible to scratch the non-stick finish, so do not use any metal utensils or harsh scouring pads on the pan.

These cakes are welcome during any Springtime, Easter or even a baby shower celebration. But, no particular event is necessary to brighten a mundane week with the special cakes made with this terrfic Nordic Ware pan.

These are heavy-duty cast aluminum pans. The pan is very heavy and has a non-stick finish, six cavities in three different flower shapes: rose, daisy and sunflower.

Each cavity has a 1 cup capacity. I have had good results by filling with 1/2 C of batter. As it bakes, the batter will rise and fill the remaining space in the cavity. If you overfill, the bottoms will rise up and be rounded so they won't sit level(though you can also use a cake leveler to trim the bottoms flat to the pan before turning the cakes outthey sell these but I use a very fine gauge stainless steel wire which has each end wrapped around a 3-inch wooden dowel).

I have several styles of these panslove Nordic Ware cast pans. They will last forever if properly cared for and is an easy way to take your baking up a notch without really having to do anything special.

I have used cake, cupcake, quick bread and muffin recipes in these pans. I have never had anything stick. Just like with a larger pan, all I do is coat thoroughly using a non-stick spray like Pam. I do not flour the pan.

For quick breads, I use Cook's Illustrated's recipesthe yogurt in them makes the cakes very moist. I get about 8-9 of these mini cakes out of a recipe that would normally make one regular loaf. I usually double or triple the recipe if I am making these for an event. If they are just for home consumption, often I will do one pans worth of individual cakes and then a pan of mini muffins or a few jumbo muffins.

In terms of baking time, I start checking for doneness at about half the time called for in the recipe. In my oven, they usually take about 20-25 minutes to bake up. These heavy duty pans will leave a nice finish on whatever you bake in them. I like that the outside gets a tiny bit crispy without being hard and dryI feel like it seals in the air and moisture which is why everyone I make these for loves them.

I have also used pound cake, shortcake, and cupcake recipes in these. You have to watch the time because these do bake differently than just cupcakes or a whole loaf. Do make sure you wash thoroughly in between uses. I soak my pans for a bit and then use a soft brush to get into the nooks and cranniesthey wash up very easily that way.

Everyone loves theseeven without any frostingjust because the shapes are so unique and it is a treat to have your own individual cake. They look lovely with glaze over them and you can also get a little crazy and fill in the details with colored frosting, using the impressions as a guide. My kids adore these and will eat anything that comes out of themeven bran muffins or zucchini bread.

I love these! Made cornbread, poppyseed cake, and red velvet in these recently. Great shapes! My tip? DON'T FLOUR THE PAN! I used butter or shortening only so you don't get flour "mold" on the designs. The first time I tried flouring the pan the design was less pretty and I had to frost it to cover the floured edges. The cakes came out easy without the flour and looked lovely.

Whoever said this lid is sturdy is wrong! Mine arrived dented at the rim and when I tried to straighten it, my fingertip made a dent in the metal! It's not much heavier than tin foil. I chose this one because it had a heatproof handle but that is its only good feature. This thing would fly away in the wind if you used it outdoors. Don't waste your money. Shame on you Joyce Chen!

The lid which was suggested to go with the Joyce Chen wok does NOT match the quality of the wok. It is made of a cheap, lightweight metal which is not the same as the wok. Also, it is about an inch too small in diameter to properly fit the 14-inch wok! I accidentally dropped the lid and it fell from my hand to the counter top, I was surprised to see that the metal it was made of dented so easily with a simple knock. I would NOT recommend this lid, but I could not find another option to go with the Joyce Chen wok. Bad pairing on part of the manufacturer.

I wasn't as unhappy with the product as I was with the way it was shipped to me. Being that the lid was only $10 I was not expecting much in terms of quality. The issue is that the lid was placed in a box with no packaging material and ended up getting bent and dented in shipping. So much so that it was not usable. A few dents would have been upsetting but this was unacceptable. See images for a picture of what I received.
