To give a little background I had never cooked with cast iron prior to this set. I grew up with teflon, tried out the "titanium waterless cookware" (which was super expensive) and everything burned. I went back to teflon, but my last set was getting all scratched up and needed replacing so I was looking into other options. I had heard through my best friend who is a nutritionist that cast iron is the healthiest and best, but was intimidated by the maintenance. Long story short, after researching everything I decided for the price it was worth trying (half the cost of a Rachael Ray or Paula Deen teflon set). I'm so glad I did! This really is super easy to maintain, I just wipe with a towel after every use and grease slightly with crisco to restore the sheen and they look brand new! I didn't even have to wash or retreat, as they were non stick right out of the box. I liked that they cook evenly and the only other real "adjustment" I had to make to my cooking style is remembering to wear an oven mit when handling. I'm super pleased with this set and highly recommend it!

I took other people's advice and seasoned it before I used it and it works wonderfully. I love how well it cooks my food and it is worth the extra TLC of seasoning it after I use it.

I rarely write reviews even though I buy so much stuff on amazon. This cast iron cook set is absolutely awesome. It is such a good value for the money (don't even talk to me about the $1400 All Clad set I just bought). I bought this for camping but have used it for regular cooking and it works so well. I researched seasoning the iron and decided that I would season with a thin coat of flax seed oil at 500 degrees for an hour. I did this 2 nights in a row and then cooked with them (turn your oven exhaust fan on when seasoning or your smoke detectors will blast awaydont ask me how I know this). One site said do 6 thin coats over 6 days which I may do eventually. Even after 2 thin coats, there was no sticking to chicken curry in the frying pan, and baked banana bread in the dutch oven. I coated a paper towel with oil and left it in the bottom (youtube dutch oven camping trick) and the bread just slid out when turned upside down. The part that did touch the side just wiped off with a paper towel. No washing, no soaking, no scouring needed. The key is keep the iron dry, don't soak it, keep it well oiled after use (I put a little flax seed oil on after each use). Iron is so much healthier than teflon. It's so much cheaper than aluminum/copper/steel. I want to send the All Clad back now..

Received well before the scheduled delivery (rcvd 9/5-scheduled del 9/13). I am extremely pleased that these are still made in the USA and the only cast iron still made in the USA. Makes me feel kinda proud that I am supporting a US business.

I have become so disappointed in the pots and pans they are manufacturing lately. I purchased a brand-new set of t-fal a year ago, and already, the finish is flaking off. The "green" pans are a total lie. Enamel ware eventually chip. Both my mother and grandmother used cast iron and never, ever had any problems with them so, I figured, why not go back to the last thing I knew was the best? Besides, fried chicken always tasted the best when fried in a cast iron frying pan!

These came ready to use right out of the box, but still, I rinsed them, dried them, and put a coating of Crisco Shortening on them. Yes, shortening or lard...that's the way it used to be done and still should be done. So far, I've used the frying pan for, you guessed it, fried chicken and I couldn't be happier with the results! You just have to remember to use a lower heat because the heat travels better in cast iron. Also, the handles do get hot so you just can't grab onto them to move the pan. I tinkered with the idea of getting the handle covers, but the reviews are so mixed that I'll just continue to use the pot holders...just like grandma and mom. At least I know they work properly. There are some other pieces that I may purchase, but this is the major pieces needed and I'm so glad they came in a set.

This set is currently listed for $107. I just put all these items in my cart individually and it totals $68.32. I love my lodge cast iron, but for the life of me I can't figure out why the set costs more than the pieces purchased individually. If you're interested in this set (and it's a great combo) do the math first to find out which way is cheapest.

Also, season your pans a few times before using them. I rub on a thin coat of coconut oil, put them in a 350 degree oven for an hour, then let cool. A few times of this and they are amazing to use.

UPDATE: Instead of using coconut oil, I now use avocado oil. Both are healthy oils, but the avocado oil has a higher smoking point. This may be a nice little non-stick pan on a regular stove, but I bought it for use with an induction stove. Be warned if you have an induction stove, this pan will not get hot enough to cook with. It has a thin steel disk imbedded in the bottom, so it will register on your stove (induction stoves don't even try to heat all-aluminum pans) but the disk simply does not generate enough heat to cook with. Even after many minutes of pre-heating on power boost, it barely exceeded lukewarm. With the right cookware, induction stoves are capable of getting insanely hot insanely fast but this is NOT the right cookware.

I bought this pan because I needed a larger non-stick frying pan, and it happened to be dark red which matches my color scheme. This pan heats evenly is durable and everything cooks like a charm. But the reason I'm writing this is because my husband has not stopped raving about how this is now his favorite pan (he does the dishes). I am very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend it. So would the dish washer.

The steamer is oval. From the picture, I thought this was going to be round and ordered it along with a round trivet (both ordered directly from amazon, not 3rd party seller so it wasn't someone else's listing mistake).

I recieved the steamer quite quickly but the lid was damaged, i was sent a replacement and would you believe it NO ONE had checked to make sure it was okay, this ones lid was chipped in numerous places, the dish was chipped inside too and when i took it out of the box it hadn't even been glazed on the outside!!

WHERE IS THE THEIR QUALITY CONTROLLER

They obviously don't have one.

Purchased at $40, took a chance at such a cheap price, got what I paid for. Heavy, nice outside finish, perfect size. Inside, is where I am disappointed, plastic handle held on by exposed metal screw, white enamel very thin and chipping and bubbling, not a smooth finish or thick, you can see the cast iron through the white enamel, rim on top of post of exposed cast iron is rusting. Is it worth $40, yes, will it last a two years, I doubt it.

I'm not at all sure what you would gain by buying one of these pans at five times the price of this one (and there are some). This one works just the way I want. It browns beautifully with out sticking and you can still deglaze a bit after for soups, stews, etc. It cleans up easily, the lid fits well...not sure just what you would get for more money spent.

It is very heavy...you must use caution on a glass cook top to lift it as you move it...I'm sure a more expensive one would be the same.

I am very happy with it. And I am not a bit shy about writing a bad review when I am not. Love this pan!

The description said that the pot could be used on top of the stove or in the oven. I have used it on top several times and obtained satisfactory results. I used it for the first time in a 350 degree oven (about four months after purchase) and obtained satisfactory cooking results, but now the lid looks horrible because the black knob is deformed with heat bubbles and the mounting screw has loosened the knob from the lid.

I suppose it may be helpful to either remove the knob or wrap it in foil for use in the oven.

I bought a Heuck pot as a cheaper alternative to Le Creuset. When I received it in the mail, I was excited to see how good it looked with it's deep red exterior and pearly white interior. I noticed that the surfaces were a little bumpy, not smooth like Le Creuset, but to me that didn't matter as long as it cooked food well. It did serve me well for about a year or so, but last week the porcelain coating started to break off in fairly big pieces. Granted, it was one fourth the price of a similar Le Creuset pot, but I suspect the Creuset will last much more than just four times the Heuck. Don't buy this pot, get Le Creuset, which you will probably be able to pass onto your heirs.

I bought this handle for my Lodge cast iron skillet, but it did not fit at all. It was both too long and the opening too narrow to fit the Lodge handle at all. I did try it on my All-Clad nonstick small skillet's 6 1/2" handle, however, and it fit perfectly. I always loved the All-Clad, but hated the handle since it never felt secure. Now it is very comfortable.

These come from a Chinese manufacturer, Thunder Group, who appears to make the same few lines of pots and pans under several house brands. When ordering from Amazon you may end up with several different laser-etched logos depending on luck of the draw. Pure speculation: They're selling over-runs from other contracts on Amazon.

Although not explicitly stated in the product specs, these are in fact 3-ply pans with a HUGE, fully encapsulated aluminum slug in the bottom. The bottoms are probably an inch thick, and these things are extremely solid.

On a scale of 1/10 for sturdiness, I give them a solid "not afraid to beat someone to death with them".

As long as you cook with them the way you're supposed to (preheat!), and don't expect food to just fly off the way it would with Teflon (they come with cleaning instructions!) you can expect these to perform just as well as some very expensive competitors. I can say with 100% honesty that they compare favorably with some of the boutique clad cookware I have that cost literally ten times as much.

I've been using them sometimes twice daily since buying them, and have yet to see any serious issues. Granted, I'm used to cooking on steel (carbon steel frying pans and wok) so these were not a huge adjustment.

Even if you're not used to cooking on steel, it's worth learning! If you cook a lot, and are subsequently tired of having to replace your coated non-stick pans every year or two, or having to dirty another dish when moving from stovetop to oven for certain recipes, give these a shot.

A word on NSF certification: NSF certification has nothing to do with any governmental body, safety regulations, or what have you. If you're curious, you should read the FAQ at:

Essentially, it's a guarantee that the materials, process, and finished product are suitable for safe and sanitary use in a commercial cooking environment. My reasoning is that 1) if I'm going to buy Chinese cookware, I better make sure it's not radioactive or whatever, and 2) if it's good enough to satisfy commercial standards and business insurance underwriter scrutiny, it's good enough for home cooking.

I just received this skillet as a gift and am delighted with it. Before, I was always burning butter, omelets, pancackes because the skillet would continue to warm up after I started cooking on my electric stove (yes, I always turn down the temp a little after I start cooking). It was just too hard to tell how hot the skillet was until the food started burning. No problem with this guy you can watch the skillet temperature rise and fall as you warm it up, add ingredients, or simmer. I liked this so much I ordered the 28cm version tonight.

The electronics use a standard AAA battery in the handle and it is easy to replace. I was a little worried about how heat might damage the battery, but found that as long as you put the skillet on a burner that's sized for the skillet, the handle stays comfortably cool. Heat spreads very evenly across the bottom.

Pros: Very simple to use. Easy to remove the temperature module for washing, dishwasher safe, the display has large, easy to read numbers, the temperature sensor responds very quickly to changes in skillet temperature, the display tells you the ideal temperature for 11 common foods, an alarm will beep if the temperature gets too hot for what you're cooking, and the walls of the skillet are nice and high, and the skillet, while sturdy, is not too heavy. The instructions are clear, although you hardly need them for basic operation. Lastly, because food isn't over-cooked, the skillet is easier to clean.

Cons: It would be nice to disable the over-temperature beeper if you know you will be watching the food cook. There was a clear piece of protective shipping plastic I didn't notice on the underside of the handle when I cooked the first time. It shriveled, but didn't burn or stick to the skillet or cause any damage, so just make sure you remove it when you unpack your skillet.

The 20cm (8") version is for cooking smaller items. If this is your first Admetior, consider the 24cm (9.5")or 28cm (11") size, which don't cost much more.

I had put these on my wish list as a future splurge and was surprised and pleased when my hubbie bought them for me for my birthday last month! (LOVE that other folks can see my wish list!) I have owned Farberware before, but, only one or two pans...after twenty years or so, a handle had loosened, a pan lid was missing, etc. but they were still going strong! I don't think you can get a better quality of cookware at this price! (I had looked at other brands of aluminum clad stainless steel cookware and found they were HUNDREDS of dollars!) I have a ceramic cooktop and have found that many of the pots and pans I've tried have warped immediately and were instantly useless on the ceramic top (where things have to be perfectly flat to work). Not so with these pots and pans! They stay flat and heat up quickly. This set has a nice variety of sizes (my only complaint is that it doesn't contain a 6 quart stock pot). The lids fit well and the pots and pans have wonderful rings on the handles that allow hanging on any pot rack! The skillets are small, but, really good (the non-stick surface is thick and the pans heat up well and clean up easily). The set also came with three stainless bowls with plastic covers (perfect for chilling cookie dough), also with rings for hanging. I am pleasantly surprised as well by the baking pan. I usually use glass, but, my lemon bars baked up very nicely in this pan. The cookie sheet, though extremely small, is also impressive. It doesn't warp under high heat and I have used it for making garlic toast and as a pan under pies and breads with no problem. In fact, I plan to put Farberware cookie sheets on my wish list next! If you a looking to replace pots and pans, or, want to give someone you love a much appreciated gift that will last for years and years, I recommend this wonderful set!

Seems to be a good product but we do have a older set and the new set is not as well made as the older set. The metal is thinner , the lids are cheaply made and the handles are just plain plastic. Time will tell if they will hold up or not. The old set needs a couple of handles replaced and I was informed by Farberware that there no longer are handles available for the old set and when I inquired about handles for the new set I was told there are not any replacement handles available. Am already disappointed as I know the handles on the new set will not hold up well.

Just like Grandma used to have!

Yes these pots and pans have been slightly updated from their older version, but they still function and clean up just as well. I purchased these because my Grandmother had a set of them my whole life and they were always dependable, and seemingly indestructible. I say indestructible because I have managed to destroy many non stick pots: scratching the coat off and melting the coat of non stick yuckynessand that literally stinks horribly and ruins the meal and the pot! The Farberware pots and pans are heavy duty, stainless steel, and best of allthere's no non stick coating on the pots to ruin if you leave your beans unattended (in my case cleaning house) with the fire up a tad too high. The lids are not glass, they are also stainless steel. So no dropping lids and stressing the glass which in turn eventually break. These stainless steel lids sit nicely on the pots, the bell shape keeps the moisture in the pot and when the lid is removed the bell shape actually helps with not dripping the condensation on the lid all over the stove.

This Farberware Classic Stainless Steel set is perfect for any cook of any age. For young cooks who are learning, for cooks who try to fold the laundry while the beans have 2 minutes left, for cooks who are a little clumsy and drop their kitchenware, and even the older much more experienced cooks who just want a good high quality classic cookware set. Regardless of the age or expertise, this set is hands down the best that is out there for anyone! And I must addI searched everywhere including macy's, sears, walmart, target, and tons of places online. This was the only set I ever saw that was a great brand, that had stainless steel lids, and sturdy design. After moving out on my own I have ruined 3 sets of nonstick pots. Cheap Le Creuset Silicone 8-Inch Round French Trivet

This is a beautifully done trivet for the price, and the fact that it's silicone. What I love is that the silicone makes it slip-resistant once you put a pot/pan/kettle on it, so you don't need to worry about it sliding around on the counter if bumped. I bought this for a gift, but I'm thinking of getting a couple for myself. I bought the cobalt blue, but it is not as bright as pictured. I would say that it is a little more like a country blue, or at least has more gray it in than pictured. If you are truly wanting a bright cobalt blue, you may be a little disappointed. The blue I received actually works better for person I was shopping for, so it didn't bother me.

Product arrived exactly as expected. White is a nice clean white; Cobalt blue trivet is not the same saturated cobalt blue as in Le Creuset stoneware. For me, the trivet color on my screen is the color received. Not having an exact match wasn't an issue for me but if that is what you are hoping for you may want to consider another color or white.

I use the trivets to protect my countertop when taking hot items out of the oven or off the stovetop. Have also used the trivets under round casserole dishes when traveling with hot food. Countertop is unharmed and no injured fingers to report. The detail in the trivet is well defined and does not detract from its usefulness. I wash them in my dishwasher (toprack) occasionally and they continue to look and work like new. Great product, would buy again.

I like this enough that I will probably buy a second one. It works well, and it is the perfect size to fit under my Simplex tea kettle when I take it off the stove. Mine is white. It is easy to clean and looks nice. Found mine in the supermarket.

When I first saw this knife featured for a nominal price, I had to rub my eyes to be sure I was seeing right. The word Henckels for cutlery is synonymous with top quality...like Mercedes or Jaeguar is for automobiles. I own some of their premier line of cutlery, the Pro S series, and am spoiled for life. I have paid a young fortune for some of my Henckels knives. (By the way, Amazon is offering several Pro S series knives at a very sweet price right now. Check out their chef's knives.) Since I did not own a 3-inch paring knife, I decided to give this little guy a test drive and am happy to report that it went through the cones with flying colors.

Henckels simply does not make junk, so even with this knife, which is one of their lower end models, you are still getting a good knife. It fits nicely in the hand (especially if you have small hands), and it has good balance. The handle and rivits appear to be the same or very similar to my Pro S series knives; the only difference I see is that the blade is a little thinner. Since paring knives aren't intended to replace the larger utility or chef's knives, just be sure not to tackle large or thick objects with it and you'll do just fine. For the price you get a big bang for your buck. Oh, by the way, invest in the Henckels stone honing tool. Always hone your knife before each use, and clean it (by hand) immediately after use. This is essential to keeping your knives their sharpest and insuring their use for a lifetime.

This is a great knife. I had one for 5 years before the tip broke when my boyfriend used it to pry apart two frozen hamburger patties (which was "user error" in my mind). It stays sharp and was inexpensive enough that I don't fret about putting it in the dishwasher, which I would never do with higher quality, more expensive Henkles.

I have never bought a paring knife before and have always used a steak knife for small jobs. I decided to try a paring knife after trying one at a friend's house.

I am very happy with the performance and convenience that this knife affords.

The construction seems excellent with the blade running all the way through the handle and the sharpness is excellent. Only time will tell how long the sharpness lasts.

Used to be Eversharps paring knife was smaller and it fit in my hand better. These work well for a larger paring knife. Love the fine serrations in the smaller knives in this line. The Chefs knife size was a tosser. The serrations were too rough.

I have several of these knives as they never need sharpening and are nice paring knives. I received them promptly and they were securely wrapped.
