This is a great pound cake and carrot cake pan. Too small to make a decent loaf of bread using most bread recipies, but for the "heavy cakes" it is prefect. Warm cakes slide out like butter, even if you forget to grease or flour the pan.

Reviews of Calphalon Classic Bakeware 9-by-13-Inch Rectangular Nonstick
I've owned my Calphalon Brownie Pan for 6 years, and absolutely LOVE it! I'm ordering a 2nd & 3rd one today. We have the largest toaster oven that I could find, and this pan fits in it. We've used it for everything from baking fish, making cinnamon rolls, baking cakes, broiling steak, garlic bread, cookies.... and I think we've made a couple of batches of brownies in it. With 5 kids, it tends to rotate in and out of the toaster oven a LOT, and has held up wonderfully. I'm ordering 2 more so that we don't have to wash it 3 & 4 times a day. (It DOES go through the dishwasher, too! And that's a HUGE perk at our house!)
It's better than the terrible one that came with my toaster oven (which is what I got this for) but I'm pretty dissapointed I expect more from Calphalon.

This is the second one of these pans that I have purchased. We have 2 homes and I liked it so much that I bought another so I would have one in both places. It is perfect for any brownie recipe for a 13x9 pan. The brownies bake up perfectly. Just remember to line your pan with parchment paper that hangs over the narrower 2 edges. You will be very happy with your baking results.Best Deals for Calphalon Classic Bakeware 9-by-13-Inch Rectangular Nonstick
I bought this pan especially to bake biscuits in. I needed a non-stick pan with low sides and this one works perfect! My home-made biscuits just slide off and I just wipe if off with a sudsy washcloth, rinse, dry and put it away. It is made of heavy gauge metal and it's very sturdy.Honest reviews on Calphalon Classic Bakeware 9-by-13-Inch Rectangular Nonstick
This is a decent heavy weight pan, but I've now used it four times and I've got grease stains that will not come off. The culpret? Cinnamon Rolls. Seriously I have a Cinnamon Roll stain on it that will not come off. I didn't burn them it's just a grease stain. It's better than the terrible one that came with my toaster oven (which is what I got this for) but I'm pretty dissapointed I expect more from Calphalon.

Great product. Nonstick works great and doesn't stain and lifts off. I have always put and still spray foil with Pam and then place in pan. Wish there was a Calphalon pizza pan 12inch with holes. I even called and they do not make it. I would use both in my Calphalon toaster oven.Thursday, October 30, 2014

Four Pot Roasts down many to go...Great pot. Very heavy but worth it for the extra room. The black interior hides the normal scratch marks.
Heats very evenly. Easy to clean.

I shoulda' got a bunch more of these! and will. didn't know each one is dual chamber too. so I have one rocket setup like this:
cinnamon / dillo dust
chili flakes / garlic pepper
salt / sea salt
imaging next rocket setups to include saffron, curries, sugars, etc.
I'll just keep using small plastic baggies for my spices when camping.
My setup Salt/Garlic/Curry/Lemon Pepper/Sumac/Oregano
In addition to salt and pepper, we've loaded ours with garlic powder, paprika, curry, and even parsley flakes. Though small, the compartments will even accommodate small pills in case you want to use this to keep essential medication safe and sound.
The unit is very compact and while it will only hold so much of any one spice in each compartment, it is usually plenty enough for two to several days. Compact, inexpensive, and functional, this spice container makes every meal feel a bit more special whether you are in the back country or just car camping. This is a well made and practical item and while not essential, it certainly makes backpacking and camping more comfortable.
A few random points about the Spice Missile...
1. The Spice Missile is about 4" tall and just over 1" across. It is made up of three sections, each of which is divided in 1/2. So you could carry six different spices. Since each section & the lid use the same screw threads, you can remove sections if you want the Missile to be shorter, or just don't need to carry six different spices.
2. Personally, I tend to use a lot of spices, so I fill each section with its own spice--so I only have three types of spices, but more of them. I use Lowry's Seasoned Salt; McCormick's Hot Shot; and McCormick's Garlic and Onion Medley. Filling the Missile with these three spices gives me more than enough spices for a week long trip, while also providing a nice variety.
3. The Spice Missile is made of plastic, but feels very sturdy. I have dropped it on the tiled kitchen floor, and it did not crack or break. I think with even minimal care it will last a long time.
4. Even fully loaded with spices, the Missile is not heavy. You could stick it in any size pack, and not notice it is there.
Finally, I would add the following warning--not about the item itself but the price point...The price range for this item is broad. I've seen them sold for less than ten dollars, and more than fifteen. In the local big-box hunting store near me, they were selling for fourteen dollars. The Spice Missile is a great product, but please make sure you get the best price you can.

I wish I'd been able to see the size on this before buying.. there are not very good specs listed anywhere for this. I realize now that it must be meant for backpackers more than family camping. It's only about 1" in diameter (wider at the base) and only holds about a 3/4 of a teaspoon (maybe less, but it holds more than 1/2 of a teaspoon) in each compartment... which is not very useful for anything I'd want to use it for unfortunately.I'll just keep using small plastic baggies for my spices when camping.

It's sturdy, waterproof, has 6 compartments, allows you to use all 3 levels at once, and comes with 3 different types of caps for different sized spices with one extra stashed at the very bottom inside the orange section (small holes, medium holes, and completely open). I went ahead, and used the completely open one while loading it up with spices, to prevent filling the other side up as well. Worked wonders. Also comes with stickers to use as identification, but I don't know if I'll keep using the same set-up, so I held off on using those. This can be used practically anywhere, and can fit in anything. Take it to work, carry it to school, anything! A great idea, and a great product. I might just start buying these as gifts! My setup Salt/Garlic/Curry/Lemon Pepper/Sumac/Oregano
Honest reviews on GSI Outdoors Spice Missile
This spice missile contains six compartments so you can bring along a variety of spices on your backpacking or camping adventure. The nice thing about this design is that you can go with only four, or even two, if you really want to pare the weight and space down. The 'missile' breaks down into three different sections, including the cap. Each section has two compartments and screws into the bottom of the section above it. Each section also has a shaker cap that rotates, so you can use one spice compartment at a time.In addition to salt and pepper, we've loaded ours with garlic powder, paprika, curry, and even parsley flakes. This is a good, high quality, cotton string. Not frayed or 'fuzzy' as some types are, especially the cheap dollar store stuff.
Ties well, easy to knot, and stays tied under tension or heat.
I have used it to tie roasts, Rouladen, truss up chickens & turkeys for cooking, even used it for household stuff outside of the kitchen.
Great string for a good price.
I have an Amazon Prime membership, so I do not pay for shipping. For the price, if you have to pay for shipping, you could probably beat the price by going to a cooking/kitchen store. Assuming that you are willing to drive to the store to save yourself the shipping costs.

This is kitchen twine the fact that it is biodegradable is an excellent selling point, but it is exactly what one would expect in kitchen twine; which is good.Best Deals for RSVP 185-Foot Biodegradable Kitchen String
What, a review for butchers twine??? Yes, because sometimes good quality in everyday commodity items makes a meal come out better. My family and I like rotisserie chicken and roulades of any kind so I use a lot of twine. This particular brand does not scorch under the intense heat of the infrared element of our grill. With roulades it is very easy to tie without a third hand because the threads have enought "fuzz" to them that an overhand knot stays tight long enough to put the locking knot on it. Finally, the twine is actually wond correctly-it never tangles when it is pulled out for use.Honest reviews on RSVP 185-Foot Biodegradable Kitchen String

Bialetti Aeternum 12-Inch Covered Deep Saute Review

My wife gave me this pan for Christmas and I am very impressed. I've been searching for alternatives to regular non-stick pans due to concerns over the coatings having toxic chemicals in them. I already have cast iron and steel pans that I use regularly, but even with proper conditioning of those pans (baking on solid oils, cleaning only with oil and salt, etc.) there are some foods that stick to them, such as scrambled eggs. The other drawback of cast iron (and steel to a lesser extent) is weight pouring out hot food in particular can be a bit tough with a large cast iron pan.
This Bialetti pan addresses all those problems. It is very lightweight, with a nice handle that makes it easy to grip and control. The non-stick interior is excellent scrambled eggs leave pretty much no trace other than a tiny spot of butter here or there, which washes right off. The heating and cooking is even and predictable. Finally, the pan's red bottom and handle is attractive enough that my wife and I agreed to hang it on the wall. The only potential drawback I can think of is that I worry that the ceramic interior may chip if abused, which contributed to our decision to hang it on the wall rather than put it in the cabinet with all the other pans.
Overall a great pan I plan on buying a couple more in other sizes. While some foods will continue to be used with the cast iron and steel pans, these Bialetti pans have definitely earned a place in the kitchen for sticky/tough to clean foods!
[11 months later: The pan has started to become less non-stick. Scrambled eggs now stick to it, although they come off with reasonable dish brush pressure. Other foods leave a residue as well that requires some pressure to clean. So this is now no longer truly a non-stick pan, which is disappointing. We never abused the pan (i.e. left heated without contents, scrubbed with abrasive cleaners, etc.). As a result, I've reduced my review to 3 stars.]
Will not recommend this product...It is only good when it's new, new.
None of this has been my experience. I love my Bialetti pan. I've had it since the end of October and it doesn't have a chip or a scratch on its nonstick coating. Food doesn't stick to it and it's a breeze to clean.
I waited to write my review because I wanted to see if the pan held up. It has, and I would recommend it providing you know how to properly care for nonstick cookware. I think many of the negative reviewers are not treating their pans properly.
1. Cook with care. You should only be using spoons/spatulas/flippers that will not scratch the pan. Seems like a no-brainer but anything metal would be a no-no. I use silicone.
2. Wash with care. Wait until the pan is completely cool to wash it. Don't expose the pan to extreme temperature change or plunge a hot pan into water. I don't have a dishwasher and even if I did, I would NEVER put this pan in it. I've always washed my pan by hand using the soft side of the sponge. That's all you need. I've never used the green scrubby side, and while you probably can, you don't need to.
3. Store with care. Don't put things (other than food) in this pan. Don't stack other pans in it. I turn it face down on my drying rack so I don't set any other dishes in it. I store it with its lid on.
4. Understand that you use different types of pans for different types of cooking. I love my Bialetti but I'd never use it to sear a steak (grab the all clad stainless steel). Saute some veggies al dente? That's the Bialetti.
5. You don't have to use oil, butter, or cooking spray, but there's even less stick when you do.
So no chips, no cracks, no problems or complaints. Maybe I'll do an update in another 9 months to let you know if anything has changed.

I bought this pan on January and was very pleased with it. It was easy to clean, didn't require lots of oil...In no time (it's April now) the surface gets damaged some, and now even the eggs get stuck to the interior...even with plenty of oil. I'd also like to point out that I've been taking a good care of the saute following the manufacture instructions on not cleaning it while it's hot etc...Will not recommend this product...It is only good when it's new, new.

Like many, I wanted to replace my aging nonstick pans with a PFOA/PTFE free alternative. I love cooking with deep, lidded saute pans--they're versatile, and an affordable since they can handle sauces and omelets--no need for an entire set of pans. However, when it comes to PFOA/PTFE free lidded saute pans, there are few options. This is the best non-stick pan that I have ever used. I only use a slight amount of oil, but it could essentially be oil free for a lot of uses. Foods will crisp up very well with little or no oil. I purchased this pan at $37.65 it is commercial quality and it works great when roasting a 2, 3 or up to 4 rib roast. I usually put the piece into the pan and cover it with rock salt to the top yes a lot of salt. I set the oven at 195F and let it roast until the internal temperature reaches 129F. Then pull it out of the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes. I'll buy 2 more when the price comes down below $40. BTW, you can reuse most of the salt, just discard the bottom portion where the drippings accumulate.

Cheap Cuisinart 2-Slice/4-Slice Metal Classic Toaster

List Price: $90.00
Sale Price: $48.89

I don't think there's a toaster made that is perfect for everyones taste. For years I'd use a toaster oven with a toast timed setting because I could not only do more than two slices, but I could usually get even browning. Now I have this, and have had it for nearly two years. I bought it here on the Zon. One of those kitchen specials they frequently have giving me a good price overall.
The problem with toasters is that not only do some of them vary because of cheaply made or defective thermostats (trust me you ain't paying for a furnace quality control here), but because of the bread. The key to toaster is know your bread. Standard Sunbeam or Wonder bread needs about a 3 on this thing, premium breads do well at 3.5, muffins using the bagel button and so on. Your's may toast a bit different. Realize the science of toasting has to do with both the moisture and fat content of the bread or bagel, or muffing being toasted.
Dry Bialy bread has little fat content and little moisture but takes a 5 or six to get it toasted. Dry grocery store brand standard white will toast using a 1.5 to two setting. It has fat content and no water, probably the best combo to get a fast toast browning. You will also see a big difference in one or two slices, since the overall heat goes up in the toaster a lower setting is typically needed when doing two slices at once.
For features this has a number of simple but useful items. The slide out crumb tray in the back makes for easy cleaning. The button array contains not only the standard toast setting, but settings for defrost and reheat. This helps overcome the problem with stand alone toasters. You need to remember to dial down a little on repeated toastings. My toaster oven used to sense what temperature it was and then adjust the toast time, even though the setting never changed. I know that because it had a digital time readout. It first confused me when I did repeated toastings and the time would decline by maybe fifty percent or more. I noticed later that it always had the same time when cool and much less when it was warmed up. Toasters typically don't do that, so you must. There is also a bagel button which works well on English muffins too.
Additionally I like the feature that allows you to "pull up" on the set bar to remove "short" slices of bread after toasting. One of the old household dangers of toast was people putting in metal knives to remove toast, and getting shocked. Here you just raise it up, and then pluck it out. I toast almost daily, so this has held up two years without any complaints, so I'd say its durable. It comes in colors, but I like the all stainless model, it shines up so nice.
When you look down into the 4 slots and see different glow intensities on each of the faces you see why this happens. Another reviewer wrote about getting one bad one, then replacing it with one that worked just fine. I just took back my 3rd one and gave up.
Its looks alone are worth a couple of stars. But I sure wish it worked.
This toaster has never cooked evenly. We are very disappointed in this particular Cuisinart product.

We have toasted bread, bagels, and frozen waffles. It works just fine, toasting very evenly. This is the nicest toaster we have ever owned.Best Deals for Cuisinart 2-Slice/4-Slice Metal Classic Toaster
Put in 4 slices of toast and each slice comes up done to a different degree. Worse, for a given piece of bread one side may be done while the other is nowhere close.
Honest reviews on Cuisinart 2-Slice/4-Slice Metal Classic Toaster
Believe what you read...the reviews don't lie...its a TERRIBLE toaster. Toasts only on one side I mean really...in this day and age, how hard is it to make a toaster that toasts both sides of the bread??? I assumed my first one was broken, but the second one behaves just like the first one. What a waste...wish I had checked these reviews first. I just didn't think I had to for a toaster.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Cuisinart 2-Slice/4-Slice Metal Classic Toaster
This is a great toaster if you are looking for a multi-purpose appliance. A few months after purchasing this product, ours no longer just toasts. Two slots have become places to store bread, one is now a burner, and the fourth actually does toast. This toaster has never cooked evenly. We are very disappointed in this particular Cuisinart product.

These are great American-made pans. Very efficient; you'll have to lower your heat to cook.
Easy to clean.
The 9" pan is really 9.5"
The 7.5 inch pan is significantly shallower than the 9.5" pan.

Excelsteel 18/10 Stainless 4 Non Stick Egg Poacher
There are so many inept cooks out there, it's a wonder this product got any good reviews! Don't you have any common sense?? Sure it gets hot when boiling that's the point to cook the eggs! Many people didn't read the instructions, so they burned their fingers. Why do you think pot holders were invented!! And for pity sakes, don't hold your fingers over the holes with live steam coming up you're asking for trouble! Also, simmer, don't boil, until the eggs are set. And why would you use a pan that isn't flat on the bottom to fry anything!?
Anyway, spray the cups with any non-stick cooking spray and the eggs slide right out. Use a pair of tongs to lift the cups out and good-bye burned fingers. This is a great product for the money.
Little gourmet tips: try putting a pat of butter in the cups with some chopped fresh chives; put in some hot or mild paprika to taste; salt seasoning & pepper are a good idea. for creamed eggs put a tablespoon of cream in the cups with any of the above suggestions. There are many more ideas than I can print here.
I recommend this egg poacher to anyone who wants a departure from the usual fried or scrambled approach to egg cooking, without paying a fortune to give it a try.
While it is made out of thin guage stainless steel, that is what makes it lightweight and easy to use. Completely suitable for an egg poacher.
Eggs are cooked perfect each time and the product is easily cleaned. stacks efficiently so it can sit under other pots and pans withour takig up much space.
Just spray the non-stick egg cups with Canola oil and eggs slide out onto a plate perfectly.
Quick cooking, delicious and perfectly cooked eggs and quick clean-up. What more could one ask for?

Quality construction and the eggs don't stick to the cups. Easy to clean. It's a bit on the thin side for thickness of the steel but it is entirely adequate for this type of pan.Honest reviews on Excelsteel 18/10 Stainless 4 Non Stick Egg Poacher
We've used a number of different poachers and this one works the best. Stainless model far better than any of the aluminum models we had used. Spray the cups with non-stick spray and the eggs will fall right out. It couldn't be any easier to make great poached eggs. Amazon was the best price to be found.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Excelsteel 18/10 Stainless 4 Non Stick Egg Poacher
Excellent cooking utensil. Reasonable in price and performs with minimal clean up due to stainless steel construction. Also comes with glass lid, which many comparable cookers do not!Monday, July 7, 2014
Oster Caldera Dutch Oven with Lid Reviews
I've been looking for a Caldera style pot for a while and I finally found it on Amazon, so I'm very happy.
Let me say this, if your first starting out with getting kitchen supplies always go with commercial grade. It may cost you a little extra, but down the road it pays for itself, because your not going to have to keep buying replacements, for a while.
I like to cook stews like curry chicken, pigs feet, peas n' rice and that is stuff you have to cook in big batches!
This pot cooks it perfectly! I've had it for only two days and have already used it three times! lol!!!
The only draw back, the handles get very hot so keep your oven mits handy. But it is very sturdy and durable.
I have to add the 15 quart caldera to my collection as well.

I gave this to my son & his girlfriend as a present. It just fits perfectly over their stove between the fridge & the doorway and holds alot of pots. The only issue I had was that a weld broke during shipping and I had to find a welding shop to fix it before Christmas. Guess it could have been a welded a little better, on that side it looked more like it was tacked. I do like that the hooks weren't welded (like mine is) so you can put them wherever you please.

This pot rack was purchased for our new home. We liked the design and felt it would fit nicely with the exposed beams of our kitchen, however, it arrived with broken welds on one side of the frame, and the other side didn't look that sturdy. We may have dodged a bullet, as I'd rather have it arrive broken than to put the time and effort into hanging it, only to have it fail later and drop pots and pans all over the kitchen and counter tops. We're planning to return this item.Best Deals for Old Dutch 12 Hooks/Chain Hanging Pot Rack, 32-1/2 by 17-Inch, Matte
The item arrived with the spot welds broken and the oval split in two pieces. I attempted to hang the rack on supposition that the rack might be intended to balance anyway with the shelf inserted. However, it is completely unstable. I called the manufacturer, Old Dutch, in New Jersey and they do not expect replacement inventory for 7 or 8 months. Stay away from this product. I am returning to Amazon for refund, which is a pita.Honest reviews on Old Dutch 12 Hooks/Chain Hanging Pot Rack, 32-1/2 by 17-Inch, Matte
We bought this product to organize our pots and pans so we could de-clutter our cabinets. We needed more hooks so we also bought the Enclume DRPHS-HS Decor Pot Hook, Set of 6, Hammered Steel. They work great also and are shaped differently than the S shaped hooks that come with the pot rack. It was easy to mount once we found the ceiling studs and is very sturdy.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Old Dutch 12 Hooks/Chain Hanging Pot Rack, 32-1/2 by 17-Inch, Matte
When we unpacked this item, the weld points holding the brackets were broken in two places. Fortunately, we have a friend that has a welder, and was kind enough to redo the welds for us. Other than that, it is a great and handy product. It has freed up cupboard space for me to fill with other items, and the pots and pans are still at hand!Tuesday, June 24, 2014

I got the Wilton set, with muffin pan, cake pan, loaf pan. The first time I used it, the smell from the oven was overwhelmingly sickening, very chemical. I thought it was because I hadn't washed it first. After washing, it was the same. As soon as it heats up in the oven, it starts to STINK. SO I did some searching on the internet quickly found out that you really want silicone bakeware that is 100% silicone. Cheaper brands use plastic fillers which causes the odor during baking. Turns out you can tell easily by twisting a bit of the silicone if it turns whitish, it's got plastic fillers. Pure silicone will retain it's color. The Wilton immediately turns whitish when twisted. The smell while it's hot is just nasty. I'll be returning these today I may exchange for a higher quality and give silicone another chance. ALSO note that silicone is NOT non-stick it is stick resistant but the manufacturers all still recommend greasing. Wilton says it clearly on their website.
One big muffin often doesn't get fully eaten by active little people. These little muffins are just right for a bite. They clean up well, no silicone smell; and it's just so much fun turning out perfect muffins -no need for paper liners, no sticking, a baking Mom's delight! Another reviewer said that this leaves a plastic taste. I have not found this to be so. Make sure you wash the muffin pan before first use, of course.
Now, I'm placing it on a cookie sheet. It's fixed the problem, but the product didn't work as well as I would have wanted it, too. I have now purchased the individual baking cups to put into my old muffin tins.

I have the silicone baking sheets and love them. Easy clean up. Since I make so many muffins and cupcakes, I was hoping this would be an alternative to buying paper cup inserts (I wanted to be greener). While this product works, what I hated was that it's so flexible that putting it in the oven filled with batter is difficult. It bends and I have to shove it in awkwardly. I tried putting the flex pan inside my metal pan, but it didn't fit quite right. Now, I'm placing it on a cookie sheet. We don't actually bake in this, but use it to freeze things into small portions for easier vacuum sealing. Cooked beans, coconut milk, chicken broth, etc, freeze quickly and just pop right out.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Wilton Easy Flex Silicone Muffin
I got these for Christmas and after using for the first time, I think they are great! The muffins came out easily and they cleaned up easily as well. I was tired of rusty useless pans and these are fantastic!
