So who ever heard of "Creative Home"? That made me hesitate, but after reading critical reviews of the well known brand names, I decided to take a chance on what appeared to be a good item, at least by description and photos. I'm glad I did. This kettle is well made, attractive, intelligently designed and functions perfectly.

The bottom is seamless, eliminating leaks and rusts from that source. The inside is lined to further protect against rusting. The cap is large, well constructed and fits very tightly. The handle is adequately insulated and very "grippy". The spout button is in the handle. Simply squeeze with your index finger and it remains open. Press the top button with your thumb and it snaps closed. No stretching or sliding of your fingers. It is the best and easiest I have ever owned. The size of your hand will not be an issue.

One note: 2 quarts is all you can safely fill it with. I measured it. That fills it to the ideal, just below the spout seam.

After burning out several kettles over the years, I was looking for a good quality whistling model. Although I'd never heard of this brand, it seemed to be just what i was looking for, so i decided to take a chance. I shoud have listened to my instincts. it's an OK kettle, sort of. Water boils in a reasonable time and it pours without dripping. However, the cap that makes the whistling sound is crooked and doesn't fit tightly against the spout, so there's no whistling sound. It's more like a pitiful little whimper, so quiet that you can hear it ony if you're very near the kettle. That ws a big disappointment. Clearly the spout lid is badly made. We tried to bend and wiggle it to make it fit snuggly against the spout, but no success. Overall, the kettle looks cheap (I seriously doubt the claim of "quality stainless steel") and has a darker inside coating that is not smooth and makes the kettle look discolored. The lid is hard to remove for filling. Also, this kettle can't go in the dishwasher. All in all I am totally dissatisfied with this kettle and will have to buy something else. My advice: don't waste your money. It's cheap looking and badly made.

This teapot is not painted like so many others, and the design is sturdy and simple. The top is not super easy to get on and off, but I always fill through the spout anyway so that's not problem for me.

This SS tea kettle is very attractive and fits into my kitchen decor beautifully. I like that it's stainless steel because aluminum can leach into water over time and can be harmful to the human body. Some other reviewers complained the top is hard to take off, it is a tight fit but I have no problem with it.

Best wok I've ever used. I've never "loved" a kitchen item before, but I LOVE this wok. I've seared steaks in it, stir-fried meats and veggies, sauteed vegetables, you name it, it can handle it.

MODERN WOK FOR MODERN KITCHENS! I have an electric stove, and neither my traditional Chinese steel wok nor my cheapo aluminum non-stick wok had the right bottom to heat up quickly. This wok has a completely flat bottom (no ridges), and it works fantastically on my electric stove. It is also ideal for glass-top stoves. It's about time someone designed a wok that worked well with any stove-top. Not everyone has access to a gas stove.

Wok heats up really fast, retains heat far better than my old cheap aluminum wok, and cleans SUPER easy. Even when I seared ribeye steaks in the wok, the grease and residue wiped off with a swipe of a lightly-soaped sponge under running water. I've NEVER had to scrape anything off of the tough non-stick coating, even after leaving the wok unwashed with dried food stuck to it overnight.

The Excalibur coating lives up to its advertising. It's TOUGH and it's easy to clean. When I first got the wok, I babied it cause my last non-stick wok had its coating scraped off by a spatula. Now, I'm rougher on the wok because I haven't had any problems with the coating. It's tough, and feels kinda like a pickup-truck bed-liner to me.

Angle of the sides are just right if you like tossing stir-fry with a flip of the wrist. Wok is a bit on the heavy side, but it's ability to cook well makes it worth the weight. Stir-frying with my last cheapo wok was an exercise in frustration-uneven heat and an easily-damaged non-stick coating. THIS wok has very even heat distribution. I never realized how much of a difference that makes for stir frying until I started using the Helen Chen wok.

All my friends want one of these after seeing it in action, or using it themselves. Highly recommended.

Bought this product based on great reviews above. I am Chinese so I use product daily. Now, for about 3 months, now the teflon is already wearing off! It's bad product in my opinion although it looked great when I got it and it doesn't stand everyday uses.

I intended to purchase a joyce chen pan, but inadvertently purchased this one (Name similarity caught me off guard, should have been more careful). I have a flat surface glass stove top, so friction shouldn't be an issue, but after only a couple uses the bottom of the pan coating has started peeling away and there is even small spots of rust! Mind you I hand clean this gingerly because of the non-stick coating inside the pan. I have never put it in the dishwasher. no scrubby type sponges have even been used on this pan inside or out. In fact it still looks new except for the bottom of the pan. Because this is just going to get worse I will need to purchase a better flat bottom wok. Maybe one that only has the non-stick coating on the inside with no coating on the outside of the pan. I guess someone at Goodwill will get it if they are willing to deal with rust on a pan. Who knows maybe this one was defective, I cannot say, but I am very disappointed. Again I must stay the inside "excalibur" non-stick coating works great, too bad the outside didn't.

This wok is pretty good!! I cook with it several times a week and love it. It cleans easy, is easy to use on a flat electric range and is a great size for a couple people if needed.

My one complaint is loose rivets holding the small handle on. There is no way to fix it. It doesn't prevent the handle from functioning but I suspect mine has a defect (unless this is for some unknown reason part of the design) causing the small handle to wiggle loosely.

Overall, seems like a good buy after a few weeks of use.

I am an avid home chef & treasure high-quality cookware. These are great! They are thinner (but harder) than many brands, which I truly love. Lower heat settings can be used for comparable results in other cookware, which saves energy, money, & severity of burns if the user is accident prone.

Some things to know:

1. These pans are designed to be hung on a rack. Hanging does save your cookware from a lot of those small injuries caused to them by stacking.

2. The Quantanium non-stick finish is like Teflon on steroids! I use about 1/4 the oil/butter I normally used in the older versions of Teflon. As mentioned above, a lower heat setting is also necessary. These are very easy to clean (except the stainless steel "buttons" where the handles are attached everything sticks well there).

3. Although they say "Metal Utensil Safe", DON'T! Save the metal utensils for your cast iron & stoneware.

4. Non-stick cooking spray tends to eat finish on pans. Preserve them by washing well with soap & water as soon as they are cool. TIP: NEVER, EVER put a sizzling hot pan in water or dump cool water into it! This causes warping that basically ruins the pan. Move the pan to an unused burner & let it cool naturally before washing.

5. With the small steamer insert, never fill the pan over one inch above the bottom of the insert. With the stockpot insert, 2 inches. This can be pushed to nearly 3, but the mess from overfilling is big.

6. Enjoy & care for these pans! You won't ever have to buy replacements for them as long as you don't abuse them.

I purchased this 14pc set of cuisinart pots and pans, after many comparisons and shopping around. I was initially more interested in purchasing Circulon Elite, but I wasn't too happy with the sizes offered in the set. Anyway, I am extremely happy that I purchased this set instead and here's why...

The price is great! This is a high quality product! There are 14pc included and they are all in useable sizes, the only additional thing you many need is a 12"skillet, but I have been fine without one so far. The 4 quart saute pan is wonderful!!! And I absolutely love the steamer basket, that was a huge selling point for me because I steam veggies everyday! I am very impressed with everything about these pots and pans! The non-stick finish has been very durable so far, and extremely easy to clean. They cook evenly with no hot spots, etc. One important thing to note that makes this set different than most other hard anodized cookware, is that these are made with an aluminum core. So they have a hard anodized exterior and a non-stick interior, but the aluminum core makes them quite a bit lighter in weight to most other products. I consider this to be a positive thing, I don't need to break my wrist washing a pan. But if you use your pans as weapons, consider something else. =) The exterior finish is awesome, its a smooth hard anodized finish and very easy to maintain. Another review complained about the exterior, that "it looked cheap and no matter how she cleaned them they looked bad"... well, she's crazy!!! These look awesome!!! The clear lids are very helpful, although they do tend to get hot so using a rag when lifting is advisable. But handles on the pans seem to stay cool, no problem.

Anyway, if you are considering this cookware and are comparing it to more expensive brands, then save your money! You will not be disappointed with this purchase!

I got these on sale last week from Amazon at . Totally worth it. They are nice and heavy, heat evenly and the non-stick is amazing. You can put them in the dishwasher but it makes the outside of the pan turn a chalky dappled grey color. You really should hand wash them unless you don't give a crap how the outside looks.

The metal and glass lids can get hot while cooking but that's why they make over mitts but the great thing is, since these pans do not have the rubber coated saftey handles you can transfer from stove top to oven for a broil without having to worry about ruining your handles [like the old Revere Ware].

Update: 2009 and the pans have not yet fallen apart. The larger cookpot is showing some wear on the nonstick finish after heavy use. I also admit to using metal utensils on the product. The lids are in great shape and have not cracked or chiped and all the metal handles are still bright and shiny and not loose depite me washing them in the dishwasher.

15 years out of school and in desperate need of new pans, I researched for months on cookware brands, materials, pan-types and price. I purchased the Cuisinart 14-piece set based on my research & the enthusiastic commentary of so many other long-time users.

In every day use, this Cuisinart cookware has met my expectations. All of the pans including the skillets can be used with the lids included in the set. You won't get as many lids as pans, but having a perfectly-fitting lid on hand for both the 8" & 10" skillet is rare, and really nice.

The cookware pieces are attractive, well-made and perform exactly as described by the manufacturer. A smooth finish inside and out means that hand-washing is easy; food just does not stick in the pans. The rivets are easy to clean, too -these are big pluses since my schedule does not allow for much additional time for chores.

I tend to use medium to medium-high heats for most dishes, and haven't needed high heat to get quick & even results. I don't have a kitchen large enough to hang the cookware pieces, so I stack/nest them in my cupboard, using Wonderliner padded shelf inserts between them to mitigate against any scratching. However, the Cuisinart Cookware's nonstick surface has been quite durable and the set shows no signs of interior nor exterior wear.

The steamer insert is great for vegetables and Asian dumplings (I never use the pasta insert.) I couldn't find the steamer insert sold separately, and you can't use a metal fan basket steamer on the nonstick surface, so buy the 14or 17piece sets to receive it. I use wood and silicone-based utensils with the set.

I own other cookware (Cuisinart Multiclad, Staub & Le Creuset) to cover a full range of cooking needs. Nonstick is essential for certain applications; all in all, it truly has been a terrific set for me.

I never write reviews, but this one is worth it! Cleanup is a snap, even baked on cheese. Normally I dread cleaning pans and just toss them in the dishwasher. I did abide by the instructions and washed them by hand. Egg, grease, baked on cheese, you name it. A little hot water and soap under the faucet does the trick.

I wish I'd been able to see the size on this before buying.. there are not very good specs listed anywhere for this. I realize now that it must be meant for backpackers more than family camping. It's only about 1" in diameter (wider at the base) and only holds about a 3/4 of a teaspoon (maybe less, but it holds more than 1/2 of a teaspoon) in each compartment... which is not very useful for anything I'd want to use it for unfortunately.

I'll just keep using small plastic baggies for my spices when camping.

It's sturdy, waterproof, has 6 compartments, allows you to use all 3 levels at once, and comes with 3 different types of caps for different sized spices with one extra stashed at the very bottom inside the orange section (small holes, medium holes, and completely open). I went ahead, and used the completely open one while loading it up with spices, to prevent filling the other side up as well. Worked wonders. Also comes with stickers to use as identification, but I don't know if I'll keep using the same set-up, so I held off on using those. This can be used practically anywhere, and can fit in anything. This spice missile contains six compartments so you can bring along a variety of spices on your backpacking or camping adventure. The nice thing about this design is that you can go with only four, or even two, if you really want to pare the weight and space down. The 'missile' breaks down into three different sections, including the cap. Each section has two compartments and screws into the bottom of the section above it. Each section also has a shaker cap that rotates, so you can use one spice compartment at a time.

In addition to salt and pepper, we've loaded ours with garlic powder, paprika, curry, and even parsley flakes. Though small, the compartments will even accommodate small pills in case you want to use this to keep essential medication safe and sound.

The unit is very compact and while it will only hold so much of any one spice in each compartment, it is usually plenty enough for two to several days. Compact, inexpensive, and functional, this spice container makes every meal feel a bit more special whether you are in the back country or just car camping. This is a well made and practical item and while not essential, it certainly makes backpacking and camping more comfortable.

The GSI Spice Missile is one of those outdoor items that seem to be "love-it-or-hate-it." For my part, I really love it, and won't go hiking or camping without it. Back when I was in the service, we were always looking for ways to spice up (horrible pun, I apologize) our MRE's. I would have loved a Spice Missile back then.

A few random points about the Spice Missile...

1. The Spice Missile is about 4" tall and just over 1" across. It is made up of three sections, each of which is divided in 1/2. So you could carry six different spices. Since each section & the lid use the same screw threads, you can remove sections if you want the Missile to be shorter, or just don't need to carry six different spices.

2. Personally, I tend to use a lot of spices, so I fill each section with its own spice--so I only have three types of spices, but more of them. I use Lowry's Seasoned Salt; McCormick's Hot Shot; and McCormick's Garlic and Onion Medley. Filling the Missile with these three spices gives me more than enough spices for a week long trip, while also providing a nice variety.

3. The Spice Missile is made of plastic, but feels very sturdy. I have dropped it on the tiled kitchen floor, and it did not crack or break. I think with even minimal care it will last a long time.

4. Even fully loaded with spices, the Missile is not heavy. You could stick it in any size pack, and not notice it is there.

Finally, I would add the following warning--not about the item itself but the price point...The price range for this item is broad. I've seen them sold for less than ten dollars, and more than fifteen. In the local big-box hunting store near me, they were selling for fourteen dollars. The Spice Missile is a great product, but please make sure you get the best price you can.

Nice, heavy pan. I bought it mostly for lasagna because it's hard to find a deep lasagna pan and this one is just right. I've also used it to bake a chicken in sauce and to bake a cake and it worked well for both. It weighs over six pounds when it's empty, though, so it is a bit heavy when it has food in it.

For some reason, the directions say that it needs to be seasoned before using it the first time. Per their instructions, I boiled a little bit of milk in it to season it and it was a little hard to get the burned milk off the bottom of the pan (guess I boiled it too long), and there was one area of black that did not come off. Tonight, I made a dish I got off of their website and some food burned on the bottom of the pan when I was browning the chicken on the stovetop and it also left black marks, even after scrubbing with a plastic mesh scrubber. The cleaning instructions on Emile Henry's website only say to soak the pan to get rid of burnt-on food. I will have to e-mail them to see if I am supposed to use steel wool on it. The marks should not affect the usefulness of the pan, though.

I'll never actually use this pan before I return it, so I can't comment on its performance. What I can say is the pan is ridiculously small. I had dithered for weeks between the 15x10 and the 17x11, finally opting for the smaller as more practical for everyday use. Sadly, when I received it, the pan labeled "15.6 x 10.4 inches" turned out to perfectly fit a standard letter sized piece of paper in the bottom: thus, it's actually about 8.5 x 11" (it slopes out a bit, so you could call it 10x12). The only way to call it 15.5" is by measuring the handles. Stupid of Emile Henry to misrepresent the size like this. I'd never owned one of their pieces before and now I'll never consider another.

The items was defective. It appeared to us to have a very, very thin stainless steel layer in the bottom of the pan (where the food goes) that just flaked off.

The double boiler pan is rounded. I'm having an issue with the clip on thermometer. Hard to describe but the thermometer is straight and the bowl is rounded so it's hard to get the two working together. If I clip it to the edge, the part that determines the temperature is too far from the liquid. If I attempt to move it down farther it either pops off or the bulb is touching the pan not the liquid. I will keep looking for a compatible thermometer but hope this will be helpful to someone else or perhaps someone has advise for me. It does say "sleek curved vessel" in the description but I didn't absorb what that meant.

I have purchased this pan in 12 inch, 10 inch and 8 inch. To be fair, the 10 inch and 8 inch were a package deal at Costco. The 12 inch version I bought at Bed Bath and Beyond. I specifically bought these to leave at the vacation house we rent for a week+ each year. I got better prices elsewhere instead of Amazon, but in any event, they don't break the bank.

When on vacation, I use these pans several times each day and the rest of the year they are used by folks who aren't particularly careful. That being said, they have held up very well and after two years are working just fine. A few small scratches on the nonstick and some scorch marks on the bottoms, but they still work just great.

Do my AllClad at home work better? Yes. They also cost at least five times as much. Will the nonstick coating on the expensive pans last five times longer? No, not really.

At home, I'm planning to purchase an induction stove. AllClad will work on induction, aluminum pans will not. Otherwise, I'd use these at home too.

I used to have a green and white Krups Open Master that opened cans in a simailar way. It was thrown out during a kitchen remodel and was later discontinued. I never liked the replacement can openers because the dirty can lid and cutting blade would sink into the food and contaminate it and just make a mess.

I just received the Hamilton Beach can opener a few minutes ago, but this 76606 works as well or better than the old Krups so far.

I'm not sure why this isn't the way all can openers work. I don't see the point of can openers that work the old fashioned way.

I loved my Krups Open Master 404 until it stopped working recently. I found that The Krups, which had NO BLADE that touched the food so as to leave food on the blade as with most canopeners, is no longer made or avaialbe except on ebay. So, I started looking to see what is now available. I tried some other brands. These "other brands" had the typical "blade" that cut into the top of the can and the blade TOUCHED the food inside the can. Thus, food was left ON the blade. To me, after using the Krups for 7 years, this was/is VERY unsanitary---having part of the juice or syrup of the food left to dry out and collect germs on the blade. The only way to avoid having food left on the "cutting blade" of most canopeners is to wash the blade EVERY time you open a can. This isn't difficult, but it takes a minute or two which seems like a lot of effort when you're trying to fix a meal for yourself or your family. Enter the Hamilton Beach 76606. THIS ONE DOES NOT GET ANY FOOD ON ANY BLADE. In fact, I didn't SEE any blade on it that touches the food! So, it's as good, or almost as good, as my old Krups. Praise the Lord! :o) boland7214@aol.

This is undoubtably the best electric can opener ever made. It cuts the lid along the side of the can under the beaded lip. It does a perfect job,it is quiet, and does not leave any metal shavings. It will also cut the lids that have pull ring tabs. This saves your fingers. I give this opener a 5 star score.

Everything written about this can opener on this site is true except!

I bought the unit after a lot of research and all the positive reviews. And they were all true excellent unit,....until shortly after the one year warranty expired (isn't that always the way.) Went to open a can it whirred, spun around, did all the usual stuff except the can wasn't opened. After a lot of looking and examining, it appeared the piercer/cutter blade was missing apparently broken off (altho I never found any pieces.)

I called Hamilton Beach after checking, the lady said there " were no replaceable parts in the unit." So, I've got a paperweight. I asked her what brand she suggested I buy next time around she said "well, H-B of course." I told her all my previous can openers had lasted 20 years or more and I replaced them just because I got sick of them. I didn't think one year's service with no way to replace the cutter was acceptable, so, despite my admiration of the unit, I'd have to look elsewhere.

Using an estimate of cans opened and the purchase price, I calculate the cost to open each can came out to more than 10 cents/can!

I favored the results of my research prior to purchase. After receiving it, I was impressed with the size & weight. It's easy on the eyes and I like the way it operates. Since I use a lot less in the way of canned goods than most people I know, I didn't actually try it out for several days. Once I did, my reaction was "wow!". I do believe I have the best can opener *ever*. If this unit holds up well over a protracted period of time, I'll remain a 'happy camper'. Now, for the reason I only gave it 4 stars i/o 5. Upon opening perhaps the 3rd or 4th can, I noticed something *very* disturbing. As I removed the lid, I spotted a very thin strand of metal (about 1-1/4 inches long) jutting out from the top of the can (perpendicular from the body of the can).

Promply removing it, I could only think that had it fallen *into* the contents of the can I might have ingested it! To better illustrate, I *could* have proceeded to empty the contents into a bowl or saucepan and had that metal fall off in the process. Hopefully, this won't happen again....but....anyone buying this can opener *should* be aware of the possibility & be vigilant in it's use. At this time, I really think this *is* the best one on the market and I'm darned glad to have it. Hope this helps anyone considering the purchase.

This was an accidental purchase that turned out to be a great success, after a couple of disappointments with other cookware.

I needed a pan that does a good job with rice. First I tried the Cuisinart 1.5 quart saucepan Cuisinart MCP19-16N MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Cover. It's too small for two servings of rice. Then I invested in the Cuisinart 2 quart stainless "cook and pour" saucepan. Cuisinart 735-24 Chef's Classic Stainless 3-Quart Chef's Pan with Cover. Its thin bottom allowed the rice to scorch, and the vented cover prevented the rice from cooking to fluffy perfection. That expensive mistake went to Goodwill.

This Homichef 2.5 quart pot was pictured with nice high sides to prevent boiling over, and reviews were generally favorable. So I put it in my cart to save while searching elsewhere online for a lid, which isn't available at Amazon.

Along came my husband, who ordered the entire contents of the shopping cart while making a few other purchases. When the pan arrived, I discovered that the lid for the Cuisinart 1.5 saucepan fits perfectly. Immediately I washed our new pan and cooked up a pot of perfectly done, fluffy rice. Since then I've used the pot for potatoes, pasta, egg noodles and soup. Perfection every time!

The reason I gave this product four stars instead of five is because the product description is somewhat misleading. For one thing, the lack of a lid is buried at the bottom of the listing in a bulleted list in small print. I almost missed it. If I'd been expecting to get a lid, I would have been very dissatisfied. I also agree with another reviewer who mentioned that while the welded handle is OK, a riveted handle as described would be a better product.

However, taken for what it actually is, and not what the copywriter pretended it was, this is still an excellent cook pot at a decent price. Just get yourself a good lid somewhere.

This pan is perfectly designed to make great stove-top popcorn and to make perfect short grain brown rice. The handle never gets hot and is well designed for gripping and holding. The pan is perfectly designed for use on small electrical stove jets, and the dimensions are perfect for making popcorn, rice, etc. The lid fits perfectly to provide a perfect seal. Since food doesn't get stuck to the stainless steel, the pan and lid are easy to cleaned either manually or in a dishwasher machine. Every household should have at least one of these. I LOVE this cookware set. Water seems to boil faster than usual & other things seem to cook a little quicker. Especially with stuff like spaghetti, my cooking time has actually decreased. And, I don't have areas of the pan that burn worse than other parts like I've had with other cookware sets. Clean-up is also really easy.

There was one thing that I was VERY surprised about though. I'm someone who usually feels the heat (when touching the handles, for instance) more than other people seem to but with this cookware, I never have to use a hot pad. I don't know what the substance is that they have covering the handles but it's really nice to just be able to pull stuff off the stove & not worry about getting burned.

I recommend this cookware to everyone!

At this point in the life span of non stick cookware I thought all non stick cooking surface material would stay on the pan. I was very surprised after only a couple of months of sporadic use to see a nick in the material of the small fry pan. I dug at it a bit with my fingernail and it continued to peel right off the pan. It is too bad because the pans look nice and work nicely. (the rest of the pans are holding up but have not even had as much use as the small fry pan.

Update 1/9/2013 about 4 years of use almost exclusively with the 10" fry pan and 1 1/2 qt sauce pan. All the pans are holding up well except the 8" fry pan see above the 10"pan is showing signs of wear I may buy a new set of these a good buy for the price.

I decided to look for a new set of pots and pans when my expensive 55 year warranty ones from a famous shopping channel decided to shed their coating. Of course that company has since gone out of business so the warranty is no longer good.

Money is tight for us and I did some looking around. Found this set at Big Lots store for $49. It is a good value for the price. While my other pans had the very heavy bottoms, this set does not. The good thing about this, however is that they are much easier to pick up, especially if you are using a large pan and it is full.

So far they work great. The only downside is that the seem to very easily slide all over my gas stove. I have had to be extremely careful about that. They heat slightly faster than my old heavy bottomed pans (which makes sense) and of course do not hold that heat quite as long. Having said that, there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of difference when it comes to getting them hot and then turning down the heat on them to continue the cooking process.

The handles are made of silicone, something which I initially didn't think I would like, however so far they are washing up fine and seem to resist heat well. The 3 tools that come with the set are fine..I have used them but I prefer wood. Would prefer to have another pan in place of the tools :)

The only things missing were a large 12" fry pan and a larger 3 qt. pot (in between the 2 quart and the dutch oven). Our Big Lots had the 12 inch fry pan separately so I purchased that. They did not have a larger sauce pan however I know that there are available and may purchase one.

My pans are the silver/gray color. I bought them with the hopes that any scratches might not be quite so obvious. I did notice at Big Lots that some of the open stock pans that were silver/gray were deeply scratched and not very obvious so hopefully these will be the same. Thus far they do not seem to scratch very easily and the insides are holding up well. These are much slipperier than my old ones ever were, I have had to actually be careful not to slide food right out of the pans when stirring or shaking.

All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase, particularly at that price. I have only had the pans now for about 4 months but in that time I have been very happy with their performance.

Then I put them into dishwasher 'cause it said "dishwasher safe", came out with lots of scratches..

Amazon had no problem sending me a new set. Nonstick, good. Never used dishwasher on it again and yesterday I found scratches again.. one month so far.

We needed to purchase a new cook set due to recent moving and my wife and I did not much of shopping beacause of our busy schedule. I nomally find good priced products from amazon so I did a quick search and bought this set. We both love the product very much. It's very durable and heats up fast. The color red is outstanding with our kitchen decoration. About a week after I bought this on amazon my wife had to stop by "big lot" here in our town and saw the same set for $15 less! The only thing different was the color red wasn't available at "big lot". My suggestion to anybody who reading this review is do more shop around at ur local discount stores such as "big lot" or similar places before you purchase from amazon.

This posting follows my earlier review of a different 18/0 flatware set. I found the Rose Elegance pattern quite detailed (more so than is revealed by the photo posted with this listing) and attractive, although there were trade-offs made to achieve the relatively low price point, see below.

The most common specification for stainless steel flatware is 18/10. The 18 refers to the chromium content and the 10 to the nickel content. Although not listed in the "technical details" at the time of this review, Rogers Co. Rose Elegance sets are manufactured using 18/0 stainless steel to keep costs down. However, 18/0 stainless steel has 0% nickel content, and consequently is less resistant to pitting and corrosion.

18/0 stainless steel is known as ferritic steel as it, like pure iron, is magnetically attracted (a quick test for less expensive stainless). This is opposed to 18/10, which is called austenitic stainless steel and is not, or only weakly, magnetically attracted. For practical purposes chromium/nickel, 18/10 and 18/8, steels are essentially identical. Because of its superior properties, over 2/3rds of all stainless steel produced is austenitic.

The greater the nickel composition the better the protection against pitting and corrosion, but the higher the cost. This is one of the reasons prices for flatware vary so significantly. Also note that 18/0 flatware is often finished to a lower standard than higher nickel content stainless steel to further reduce manufacturing costs. Even on a quite cursory examination, my 18/0 flatware does not look quite as good as my higher quality stainless steel flatware. However, unless you need that extra increment of appearance obtained with 18/10 stainless, this set will serve well for every day use.

I first took home a set of this Rogers pattern five years ago--in those five years, my son managed to lose almost all the spoons. I am happy to find this online for an affordable price. These are the same pattern I had before, so I now have a full set of flatware again. They are a nice quality, and I can just toss them in the dishwasher. They are sturdy and don't bend under reasonable pressure.
