I needed a pan that does a good job with rice. First I tried the Cuisinart 1.5 quart saucepan Cuisinart MCP19-16N MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Cover. It's too small for two servings of rice. Then I invested in the Cuisinart 2 quart stainless "cook and pour" saucepan. Cuisinart 735-24 Chef's Classic Stainless 3-Quart Chef's Pan with Cover. Its thin bottom allowed the rice to scorch, and the vented cover prevented the rice from cooking to fluffy perfection. That expensive mistake went to Goodwill.
This Homichef 2.5 quart pot was pictured with nice high sides to prevent boiling over, and reviews were generally favorable. So I put it in my cart to save while searching elsewhere online for a lid, which isn't available at Amazon.
Along came my husband, who ordered the entire contents of the shopping cart while making a few other purchases. When the pan arrived, I discovered that the lid for the Cuisinart 1.5 saucepan fits perfectly. Immediately I washed our new pan and cooked up a pot of perfectly done, fluffy rice. Since then I've used the pot for potatoes, pasta, egg noodles and soup. Perfection every time!
The reason I gave this product four stars instead of five is because the product description is somewhat misleading. For one thing, the lack of a lid is buried at the bottom of the listing in a bulleted list in small print. I almost missed it. If I'd been expecting to get a lid, I would have been very dissatisfied. I also agree with another reviewer who mentioned that while the welded handle is OK, a riveted handle as described would be a better product.
However, taken for what it actually is, and not what the copywriter pretended it was, this is still an excellent cook pot at a decent price. Just get yourself a good lid somewhere.

This pan is perfectly designed to make great stove-top popcorn and to make perfect short grain brown rice. The handle never gets hot and is well designed for gripping and holding. The pan is perfectly designed for use on small electrical stove jets, and the dimensions are perfect for making popcorn, rice, etc. The lid fits perfectly to provide a perfect seal. Since food doesn't get stuck to the stainless steel, the pan and lid are easy to cleaned either manually or in a dishwasher machine. Every household should have at least one of these. It's perfectly designed in every respect, and it's build to last many years.
