Having tried any number of wimpy french fry cutters, I finally bit the bullet (premium pricing) and ordered this one.

It is the bomb.

When I opened the box, I was stunned at the durability promised by the quality of the components. The cast iron parts (lever arm, feet and frame) are covered with a nice soft green finish so thick that I can't tell whether it's a really good powder coating or baked enamel. Most important, the cutter heads and their heavy metal frames are strong enough to cut yams with no sign of flexing that might otherwise threaten a broken frame. However, yams may mush up before they will pass through the cutter. I wound up with one yam that yielded only two-inch-long shoestrings, even when I used a series of full-body presses on the armature in trying to force the yam through. Better to use a mandoline and/or a chef's knife for yam fries, I've concluded.

But never fear: potatoes work fine in the Weston, particularly if you've left Russet spuds in a cool dark place for a month or two before cutting. That way, some of their starch will convert into sugars that will make your fries tastier and crisper.

Cutter heads are a snap to change, using three hand turned wing-nuts. The pusher head can be replaced by undoing two large and relatively accessible Phillips-head screws. Another great feature is the availability of important optional accessories, like different size cutter heads and huge suction cups that attach to all four feet for a great grip on granite counter tops. These suckers are even made of a green rubber that matches the color of the frame.

Nobody's perfect, nor is this product. The suction cup feet are attached by poking protruding bolts through the feet of the cutter and screwing on their locknuts. Trouble is, the bolts I got were too short to rise above the holes in the feet. I solved that one by shaving an eighth of an inch disk off of the top of each suction cup using a paring knife, to make the bolt protrude far enough for the nut to "grab."

Other problems were a bit more vexing. The two screws that held the pusher plate to my machine were tightened to the point where the thick lockwashers behind them had totally flattened out. These folks must have gorillas working on their assembly line. It took a brace and bit to loosen the screws to the point where I could remove them and replace the pusher head. Also, proper assembly of the unit called for the use of a couple of wrenches to properly tighten the bolts holding the armature in place.

Big deal. This product is a joy to use, really does work splendidly with spuds up to six inches long, is easy to operate and clean up when done. If you can afford it, accept no substitutes.

Without going into too many of the boring details...I suddenly found myself researching and shopping for the best French fry cutter that I could afford. Sort of an impulse buy. I bought this machine as a luxury item. From now on, as long as I have a couple of russet potatoes in the house, I can make French fries that rival those of the best fast food restaurants. And here's a kick...One large fries at a world famous fast food place in my area currently costs $1.29 + tax. Also currently in my area I can purchase an entire 10# bag of russet potatoes (russet potatoes are the ones most commonly used for French fries) for $1.39. After all is said and done a 10# bag of potatoes around the equivalent of 20 large fries. You do the math. This baby will cut up 10# of potatoes in less than 5 minutes. I should mention that there is a secret to making those perfect fast food fries. You have to rinse and soak your cut potatoes in ice water and then double fry them to get that perfect texture and taste. Do a search on the web for double fried French fry recipes for more detail. I usually do an entire bag of potatoes at once and freeze the excess on cookie sheets after the first two minute fry. After they are frozen I place them in zip lock bags for easy cooking later on. And of course you can reduce the sodium and season them any way you want or not at all. I have always thought that the fast food fries were way too salty. I could go on and on, like carrot sticks, diced potatoes, diced onions, sweet potato fries, zucchini strips for battering and deep frying, etc, etc... This machine is well built, Saves a huge amount of time and will last a lifetime.

We have owned several of the lesser quality and lesser cost cutters from Wal_Mart, Target, Outdoor World, etc.... They all worked well for a while but this thing is a brute. All I can say is, BUY IT, you will not be disastifed in any way.

The feet are metal and slide around on the ceramic counter tops. I added some small squares of neopreme to the feet to keep it from scratching the counter tops and to help hold it in place while using it, but other than that very small fault, it is great.

Honest reviews on Weston Restaurant Quality French Fry Cutter

Suction cup feet are recommended to hold this thing in place while using it, and they run about $16 shipped. Do not order them! They are included with the fry cutter. Apparently this is something new, but I do not believe it's been made common knowledge yet. As for the unit itself, love it. I can cut up a 5 lb bag of potatoes in about 2 minutes, amazing. Yes it takes some arm strength but not that much if you weigh 75 lbs or are 85 years old you may have issues, most people are going to be able to do it just fine.

This is a great product if you must slice a large number of potatoes for French fries. However, pushing potatoes through the cutting blades does take a large amount of strength in spite of the long handle.

The feet are metal. This means that I cannot use it directly on my tile counter top. I would have preferred that they included rubber feet.

The cutter blades are very difficult to clean. The little bits of potato and the starches delight in hiding in the nooks and crannies. A bit of time with a good stiff brush is in order. The cleanup time dictates that one must need to slice a number of potatoes in order to break even.

I bought this pan because of the copper bottom, Paula Deen association, and affordable price.

All in all its a good pan, with good looks and seems durable. However because the handle is so curved, it puts a lot of strain on my wrist when pouring or filling. Torque from the weight of the filled pan overcomes my writs, and it would be easier to balance if the handle were straight. The second problem with this pan, is that it doesn't heat up as fast as I would expect for a copper bottom. My OLD RevereWare stainless steel sauce pan boils water faster than this one! I would not buy this Paula Deen one again. In addition, the interior is brushed stainless steel, but it looks like a rough brush, and seems darker than most other stainless steels.

Paula Deen 2 Quart Covered Saucepan, Stainless Steel

I bought this 2 quart saucepan as a back-up to the Revere-Ware that I use all the time. It seems that I'm always looking for another saucepan when I'm cooking and this looked like a very good size and the construction of the pan was excellent. I've had this pan for several months now and I'm using it more than the Revere-Ware. In fact I bought a second, because the first did such an excellent job.

I find that this is an excellent fit to my hand and I use it to prepare pasta and when pouring off the water into a colander it works just fine. It works great for sauces and gravy as well, not to mention that cooking vegetables it is an excellent pan.

Some of the features:

Full cap aluminum and copper bottom heats quickly and evenly

Brilliant stainless steel finish for long lasting beauty

Dual riveted, soft-touch handle provides a comfortable, secure grip and is oven safe to 350-degrees Fahrenheit

Lifetime Limited Warranty

What I liked especially well is that it has a tempered glass lid so you can give a quick glance to see how far along the cooking process has progressed.

There is a caveat: Remember to clean the copper bottom before you use the pan the first time. It has a special coating that has to be removed with an Arm and Hammer Baking Soda solution. The preparation of the solution is found on the pan itself, so read, follow and understand all the instructions prior to using this pan for the best results.

A special note: This pan, when filled with water or with what you are cooking, is not too heavy for those that suffer from wrist and hand problems to work with. I found that the heat transfer is very good and cooking times are a bit faster with this pan. I like it because it is easy to clean and maintain. I've put this pan in the dishwasher and it comes out looking very clean.

An epicurean Bon Appetite

No complaints about this pot's performance on the stove-top. However, the soft-touch handle, though cozy in the hand at first, has become tacky feeling, and no amount of scrubbing with detergent, Barkeeper's Friend, or Simple Green has made it feel good again. If I could have this pot with a different handle, I'd give it five stars, but as it is, I find myself reluctant to use it because the handle never really feels clean.

It is not easy to find a great stainless steel roasting pan that is induction compatible. One needs a pan that can be used on the stove top to deglaze it or make gravy on an induction range. All stainless steel roasters are not induction compatible. They must react to a simple magnet or they will not function on the induction range. It will work fine in the oven, but not on top of the range. Here is the perfect roasting pan which will function in both places. Although the rest of our pots and pans are All-Clad copper core, their roasting pan is not induction compatible so this pan is a great alternative. Although it is not made in America, but Indonesia, it is sturdy, three ply construction with riveted handles and comes with a non-stick rack. Its sturdy construction looks like it will maintain a flat bottom which is essential for induction ranges. It is larger in overall size than my old Ltd anodized aluminum and non-stick roasting pan which will now be passed on to the next generation. With a rounded lip it pours easily with less dripping than the old straight sided pans. The handles face inward and do compromise the internal dimension slightly, but this would only be a problem for the very largest imaginable roast or turkey. This pan is also non-stick which I actually prefer for roasting. I purchased it through Amazon at 50% off suggested retail price which is a good deal.

This is a great roasting pan.

I bought this particular pan because I needed one that I could heat on my induction cook-top and this really fit the bill. Nice construction and performance.

My only slight quibble are the handles, which I feel could be a bit wider.

I got this for Christmas and was very pleased with it. The pan is very well made, and the non stick rack cools off very fast. The rack can move a little bit in the pan, as most do, so be aware of that before you hold it at an angle and the meat slides, other than that it's extremely well built and should last for a long time.

Honest reviews on Viking 16x13x3 Inch Stainless Steel Roasting Pan with Nonstick Rack

The product was shown and described as the Viking Professional Roasting Pan with Stainless Steel Rack by Metro Kitchen. They sent me a pan with a non-stick rack. I did not even open the box as I use NOTHING with non-stick ever ! That is why I ordered one with a stainless steel rack ! The Metro Kitchen just shrugged it's shoulders and told me Viking no longer makes it with a stainless steel rack and that I could send it back. It cost me $25.00 to send it back which is wrong, wrong, wrong ! I never would have ordered a non stick item, ever ! I had to pay the price for THEIR mistake. It makes me furious. I will NEVER order from Metro Kitchen again !

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my gorgeous 7-ply Viking cookware made in Belgium by Demeyere. I bought this roaster on a great sale before the holidays thinking it was the same thing. It is NOT. It's a wonderful roaster, and certainly well worth what I paid for it ($99). But it's 3-ply instead of 7-ply, is made in CHINA instead of Belgium, and is very obviously not the same quality. My roaster came with small imperfections (dents) on two edges, and I called MetroKitchen (Amazon's sub-contractor) to report the problem. MetroKitchen does not have good customer service anymore. A few years ago I bought several things from them and dealt with the same young man every time and they were (he was) great. This time they were super un-helpful. A woman answered who was argumentative and difficult and refused to do a return in time for holiday cooking. I ended up keeping it. No big deal. As I say, it's certainly well worth what I paid. But don't be fooled: this is NOT the glamorous high end 7-ply Belgian line of Viking cookware. It doesn't have the finish or sheen, and it doesn't clean up as nicely.

I own and love Rachael Ray products, and I am not sure if this item has problems or I just received a defective tea kettle. I've done some research on this item but there is not much info out there on the 1.5 qt size. I know that the 2 qt has had a recall for problems.

When I boiled water in it, it spits water out of pour spout. When I went to pour it dribbles from in between the flip opening and the pour spout.

I would like to hear from other people who have purchased this and if anyone has had similar experiences.

I like the appearance of this but not sure if I should put up with this or send back for replace or refund.

Very disappointed and returned almost same day. Handle was wobbly and required a screw being tightened. Went to use it for the first time and well before it was boiling (no steam was being emitted and the whistle was not blowing), I tried to pick up the handle and it was uncomfortably hot I'd hate to know how hot it gets when it really boils!! Very impractical and a safety hazard. Color and style looked good but not functional.

The enamel cracked and fell off right under the spout area

after only a few weeks of use. Too bad.

Honest reviews on Rachael Ray 1-1/2-Quart Whistling Teakettle

It is a good product so far. My husband doesn't like the texture of the handle and it doesn't hold a lot of water. which is fine for us because we usually only make 1 or 2 cups and that is perfect.

My daughter dropped it on the carpet and the handle broke into pieces and could not be fixed, and the nail holding it together had rusted,so I had to throw it out. =(

I wanted a red tea kettle. This one was a nice read, great shape and honestly the right price...BUT IT SUCKS! The first huge problem is that you can't pour your tea because the handle gets hot...REALLY HOT. The second thing is that the sides of the pourer have already melted. Yep...MELTED! Can you imagine a teapot that can't handle the heat of the tea? Rachael Ray should be ashamed of herself. Putting her name on a product that is subpar and unusable. I want to return it, but not sure I can at this point...I'm going to try though. Ridiculous.

This knife as received was sharp as a razor. It is nicely balanced and quite flexible for cutting roasts, steaks, etc. Finish was perfect as to be expected and should provide years of excellent service. Product arrived on time and in excellent condition with packaging inside and out of the highest quality.

I added this knife to a block set and in retrospect I probably could have gone with the eight inch. It is a great knife, however, and makes carving a dream. I've had many electric carving knives over the years but never experienced such carving ease as with this knife. The whole Zwilling set has been a wonderful investment.

With so many high end knives for sale, be it Japanese or German, I've found some middle ground with my ancient Henckels #31060 NLA. As a carving/slicer 10" knife, the best bang for the buck. If you can find this old guy, snag it ASAP. This knife holds an edge and is very easy to resharpen when needed. IMO, most current high end knives of any country of origin, are Rockwell 59/60 hardness, i.e., very tough to resharpen when the time comes. You'll know when it's time.....e.g. take the blade to your fingernail and gently try and scrape off some keratin. Don't laugh people, a great gauge your knives' "sharpness." Or.....do the the "sliced paper test," instead.

Bottom line? The old Wusthof and Henckels cutlery are to be treasured. Latest batch of knives leave much to be desired in terms of maintenance. Newer iterations of same doesn't translate to "better."

Best wok I've ever used. I've never "loved" a kitchen item before, but I LOVE this wok. I've seared steaks in it, stir-fried meats and veggies, sauteed vegetables, you name it, it can handle it.

MODERN WOK FOR MODERN KITCHENS! I have an electric stove, and neither my traditional Chinese steel wok nor my cheapo aluminum non-stick wok had the right bottom to heat up quickly. This wok has a completely flat bottom (no ridges), and it works fantastically on my electric stove. It is also ideal for glass-top stoves. It's about time someone designed a wok that worked well with any stove-top. Not everyone has access to a gas stove.

Wok heats up really fast, retains heat far better than my old cheap aluminum wok, and cleans SUPER easy. Even when I seared ribeye steaks in the wok, the grease and residue wiped off with a swipe of a lightly-soaped sponge under running water. I've NEVER had to scrape anything off of the tough non-stick coating, even after leaving the wok unwashed with dried food stuck to it overnight.

The Excalibur coating lives up to its advertising. It's TOUGH and it's easy to clean. When I first got the wok, I babied it cause my last non-stick wok had its coating scraped off by a spatula. Now, I'm rougher on the wok because I haven't had any problems with the coating. It's tough, and feels kinda like a pickup-truck bed-liner to me.

Angle of the sides are just right if you like tossing stir-fry with a flip of the wrist. Wok is a bit on the heavy side, but it's ability to cook well makes it worth the weight. Stir-frying with my last cheapo wok was an exercise in frustration-uneven heat and an easily-damaged non-stick coating. THIS wok has very even heat distribution. I never realized how much of a difference that makes for stir frying until I started using the Helen Chen wok.

All my friends want one of these after seeing it in action, or using it themselves. Highly recommended.

Bought this product based on great reviews above. I am Chinese so I use product daily. Now, for about 3 months, now the teflon is already wearing off! It's bad product in my opinion although it looked great when I got it and it doesn't stand everyday uses.

I intended to purchase a joyce chen pan, but inadvertently purchased this one (Name similarity caught me off guard, should have been more careful). I have a flat surface glass stove top, so friction shouldn't be an issue, but after only a couple uses the bottom of the pan coating has started peeling away and there is even small spots of rust! Mind you I hand clean this gingerly because of the non-stick coating inside the pan. I have never put it in the dishwasher. no scrubby type sponges have even been used on this pan inside or out. In fact it still looks new except for the bottom of the pan. Because this is just going to get worse I will need to purchase a better flat bottom wok. Maybe one that only has the non-stick coating on the inside with no coating on the outside of the pan. I guess someone at Goodwill will get it if they are willing to deal with rust on a pan. Who knows maybe this one was defective, I cannot say, but I am very disappointed. Again I must stay the inside "excalibur" non-stick coating works great, too bad the outside didn't.

This wok is pretty good!! I cook with it several times a week and love it. It cleans easy, is easy to use on a flat electric range and is a great size for a couple people if needed.

My one complaint is loose rivets holding the small handle on. There is no way to fix it. It doesn't prevent the handle from functioning but I suspect mine has a defect (unless this is for some unknown reason part of the design) causing the small handle to wiggle loosely.

Overall, seems like a good buy after a few weeks of use.

After reading about the possible health risks associated with Teflon, we carefully went shopping for stainless steel. While I agree that a lid would have been lovely, I must say this is a great pan even heat disbursement with a good sturdy feel to it. We have used it for everything grilled sandwiches, breakfast meats, searing, sauteing and just last night made a huge batch of homemade chili. Clean up is a snap! We love this pan! Just purchased one for my daughter.

I bought this skillet to sear salmon, before puttting it into a 425-degree oven. I am not sure if it is a good thing to put non-stick into a hot oven, so I bought this pan. It worked like a charm. It sears perfectly, and after the oven for 7 minutes, it was a mess. but it cleaned up shiny as new following the directions to fill with water, and clean with Bon Ami or a similar product. It was a brown mess but now looks like new. The important thing is to read the instructions that come with the pan. I think I'll order the other sizes since this one worked so well. I think it works as well as the All Clad pans I have but at a fraction of the price.

Cooks wonderfully! Foods brown uniformly (instead of brown towards the center and 'raw' nearer the edge). And the bottom is truly FLAT, which means liquids do not pool. Consequently, foods cook uniformly and require less re-arranging. Finally we love the handles. The long one stays cool and the short one opposite makes it easy to pour out liquids. Wonderful product!

Honest reviews on Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Open Skillet

First let me tell you I have no affiliation with All Clad what so ever I am a retired caterer. This is the first piece of Cuisinart cookware I have purchased.

Right out of the box this has the heft and looks of All Clad it is a beautiful pan. Howevever, as I do with all the cookware I purchase I put it on a level surface and see if it wobbles. Unfortunately this one does to a small degree. This means that unless you are cooking on a gas stove you will get uneven heat.

The way Amazon is bouncing around it's pricing I got this one a few days ago at a real good price with Amazon prime. I will keep this pan for that reason and to remind me you get what you pay for.

Before all the reviewers who believe there should never be a negative review written about a product they adore please remember this may not be an issue to you but it could be a big issue to someone else.

If the price of this cookware brings the masses back to stainless steel cooking I am all for it. Getting away from teflon is the best step you can make in not only improving your health but also your cooking skills.

I got three stainless steel pans at the same time both the 10-inch and the 12-inch Cuisinart and an All-Clad casserole with lid. The 10-inch Cuisinart seems to be okay, but the 12-inch pan developed a hot-spot in the center, which burned the food and discolored the pan the first time I used it. The discoloration is in the form of bluish spots that are visible on the outside center of the pan, and which I believe indicate a flaw in either the aluminum core, or in the bonding process. ... I know how to cook with stainless pots, so did not use excessive heat. I returned the 12-inch pan, and am using the 10-inch one to give it a good test before I'll keep it. I've also been using the All-Clad pan, and do believe there is a quality difference between the two brands, with All-Clad being superior. I also like the fact that the All-Clad is made in the USA. I've purchased a 12-inch skillet of that brand to replace the one I returned. (A big thumbs up for the Amazon.com return policy. Since the pan was flawed, they even paid the return postage!)

Update: I really like the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro 10 inch skillet. I cook eggs and make omelets in it with absolutely no sticking. I wipe out the pan with a paper towel and it sparkles like new! The Cuisinart pan has a turned edge, so pouring contents can be done with no dripping. The All Clad pan does not have that feature, and the price of All Clad 12-inch skillets is prohibitive, so I am going to try another one of the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro 12-inch skillets. Maybe the faulty one I got was a fluke. I'll update again if there is more to add.

***Update #2I now have-and have usedmy Cuisinart MultiClad Pro 12 inch skillet, and have updated the review to 5 stars. I've attached a short video of the first effort at frying eggs in it. After frying the eggs, I let the pan cool and wiped it out with a paper towel. Again, NO WASHING NECESSARY! Fabulous. (I do think my first experience with the skillet I returned WAS a fluke. Thank goodness for the Amazon.com return policy!!) I do hold to the statement that All Clad is superior, but I can't afford it. Wish I could!)

****Update #3 I've never misused the 12" skillet by "shocking" it with cold water when it is hot, but it is now warped so that it does not sit flat on my glass cooktop. It's junk now.

All three pans are truly beautiful, and I've not had a problem with sticking other than the above mentioned, of course. Here is the trick to keep in mind, for those who are newbies to cooking on other than non-stick surfaces: "Hot pan, cold oil." The pan should be heated on medium until water drops skitter around on the surface, then oil can be added. It does not take much oil!!! Add the food to be cooked when the oil is heated. If the oil spatters while you are cooking, the pan is too hot. I never use heat higher than 6 on my stove dial, which would be medium high. That would be searing heat.

In addition, there are websites online which tell how to season a stainless pan to make it non-stick. It really works!!

With a damp washcloth (folded twice) and a layer of wax paper on the bottom it will easily hold a dozen home-made 8" tortillas. To reheat tortillas just place the container with the washcloth, wax paper and tortillas into a microwave for 30 seconds to two minutes. (Amount of time depends on: number of tortillas, how cold the whole container is to begin with, and dampness of the washcloth.) Also keeps my tortillas in the refrigerator nicely for a surprisingly-long amount of time.

This thing is good at keeping tortillas warm, but it's not deep enough for a batch of homemade tortillas. It will hold two 10 packs of store-bought tortillas that are thin, but the homemade tortillas, which I can never get as thin as store-bought, keep the lid ajar. The container is deep enough, but the bottom of the lid has a "dip" in it that presses against the tortillas and keeps the lid from closing tightly. What a shame. I guess I'll be purchasing the larger warmer.

With tortillas getting expensive AND being filled with hydrogenated vegetable oils, I finally found a SOFT tortilla recipe that I can easily roll out with a rolling pin. It's 3 cups of self-rising flour, 1 cup of warm milk and 5 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix it into a ball by hand or in a food processor. I don't even have to let them sit for 20 minutes. Just divide into 12 balls, lay a damp paper towel over them as you roll each out (roll from the center out) and then cook for about 30 seconds per side in a skillet. Other tortilla recipes were difficult to roll out and tasted hard like crackers.

This product does what it says....Warms your tortillas. It may not be the most attractive design but it does what it is intended to do. For the price and the performance...why spend more on a fancy schmancy one?

Honest reviews on IMUSA MEXI-1000-TORTW Tortilla Warmer Microwave Safe Base BPA-Free

There are already several reviews which point out the advantages of this product. It keeps your freshly made tortillas warm at the table and lets you reheat the leftovers in the microwave if you have them later. Just include a wet cloth or paper towel to make some steam so that they don't dry out when they're reheated.

Several reviews have complained about the packaging and the difficulty of getting the glue from the label off the outside of the tortilla warmer once the label is removed.

I just bought one of these here at Amazon, and the good news is that in addition to being useful in the ways already noted, the label was not glued on. The tortilla warmer I received came packaged in a cardboard sleeve which simply slid off. Great!

Great product, made in China like everything else, but what's up with the adhesive label covering half of one side. Tried soaking it in hot water, dish detergent, used the back end of a butter knife but NOTHING gets that label off without leaving an adhesice mess behind. Even using Goo Gone (a citrus solvent) it took a good five minutes of aggressive peeling and fingernail work to get it cleaned up. This was completely UNECESSARY! Wake up, Imusa, get a sticker that peels off please!

The handles are somewhat in the way but I love the way it cleans up.

This is a large roaster... larger than I expected. The rack that came with it is nice.

The reason for the 3 star rating.... lightweight, handles are not as functional as I would like. Felt for the money, the feel should have been substantial.

The non-stick is excellent, but the design and handles, for me, rates a 3 star.

Outstanding roaster and easy clean up. My wife uses it constantly and praises it's ease of use and clean up.

Honest reviews on Calphalon Classic Nonstick Roaster

This pan works very well. I haven't had the chance to use it for something large but if I needed to I could. It almost dwarfed the whole chicken I cooked on it. Keep that in mind when you purchase it. It can handle a turkey. If you don't need something that big look for something smaller.

It won't take a thousand words to say that this is truly the finest pan I own! If I had to choose just one pan from my kitchen, this would be it. It works for everything. I fry, bake, saute and serve from this one good-looking pan. Clean up is really, really easy. I have washed it in the dishwasher, but do prefer to hand clean. Itis certainly worthy of "hands-on" care. Beautiful, serviceable and a must for a caring cook.

In a small household, this has turned out to be the most-used pan. It is not only everything that everyone knows about All-Clad in terms of high quality and functionality, but it is astonishly beautiful as well.

I used this for the first time this week. I wanted something rustic, so I decided to braise turkey thighs with some root vegetables. Preparing the dinner was almost as good as the finished product.

Because of All-Clad's technology, I didn't have to turn the range above medium to sear. There was ample space for browing both turkey parts. Adding color to the veggies was a quick process. Deglazing was very easy because the bottom was so roomy.

From the oven came evenly done, tender and juicy turkey thighs. Clean up was easy. Wiped it out and put it in the dishwasher. Didn't even need to use any polish.

My next task for this pan is a frittata.

Honest reviews on All-Clad Stainless Petite Braiser Pan

This pan is great. It cooks very steady and evenly. After you cook something you can bring it right to the table as it is so attractive and well designed. We use it as a serving dish as well as a pan. Afterwoods, it is easy to clean and there is only one thing to clean as opposed to both a pan and a serving dish. Great for a busy family.

I have always loved All-Clad products and this Braiser Pan is no exception. I've used it countless times since I got it and it's lived up the to the All-Clad reputation for quality. It's a purfect size for a single person. I love that it can go directly from the burner into the oven. This braiser pan has become the pan I use most.

I received this set as a gift three years ago, and I really love the set. At the time, I was not much of a cook and just out of college, but I am now married and we cook all the time with these pans. They are super sturdy and feel hefty without too much weight. I appreciate the "strain" feature and use it regularly.

The company also stands behind its products and responds to customers via email. I was missing one of the lids to the pans after a move. I contacted them about it, and they helped me to replace the piece. It was great service on their part, and although I know these pans are going to last me for years and years, I will probably buy WearEver again.

The product PICTURED is actually a wonderful product and I would give it 5 stars. The problem is you do not get the items pictured. The 9-1/2-inch stainless steel saute has been replaced by two aluminum frying pans with non-stick coating. My child ordered this for a sibling's wedding gift and contacted Amazon after he did not get the items pictured. They have made no change in the image even though this is not what you receive. As a longtime customer of Amazon, I am truly disappointed that Amazon continues to sell this item with a misleading picture. This is truly false advertising. As a result, we have looked elsewhere to purchase the pan set for the wedding.

I recently upgraded my range from a gas model to an electric smooth surface cooktop (which I LOVE). I soon realized that a lot of my old (cheaper) cookware which had worked just fine on my old stove didn't work as well on my new one. Because of the nature of the design of this type of cooktop, the heat "transfers" to the cookware instead of the "direct" heat of conventional cooking. Bottom line is that your cookware needs to sit flat in order to perform well. Mine didn't. I bought this set because I wanted 4 things: 1)heavy-duty cookware to work with my new cooktop, 2)a non-stick finish in the fry pan only (but stainless steel in the pots); 3)a strainer built into the lids and 4)see-through clear lids. This is the only cookware I've found that met ALL of my criteria. I can tell a big difference between the new cookware and the old.

I bought this set over a year ago and am very happy with it. The set looks like it did when I bought it--and that with very little care! I have had a few occasions where I burned food on a pan and if you soak it, it cleans up very easily with steel wool. Many people have commented that they really like how they look. The double spouts on the pans make for very easy pouring, and I really love the strain feature in the cover. They also heat very evenly.

The photo shows all stainless. Two aluminum frying pans with non-stick coating were in the box instead of the heavy stainless pan. This in not what I wanted to order, as I already have a worn out set with peeling non-stick coating. I wanted all stainless with laminated bottoms, and not the cheap non-stick coating.

I am one of those people that has always liked the thought of "nutritional, home cooked" dinners. By the time I think about cooking the stews/roasts/whole chickens/etc. it is already too late in the day so there they sit in the freezer while I am running to the store for something quick. It's really sad to see beautiful, fresh stew vegetables (along with great intentions) go bad in the refrigerator. Well, NO MORE!!!!

If you are thinking about buying a pressure cooker, go for it! Mine came in the mail yesterday and I made Tortellini Stew last night oh my gosh it was the most tender stew meat we've had in years. It was even better than sitting in the crock pot all day! I did not pressure cook the little tortellinis :) but everything else cooked so easily. I put the stew meat in with garlic, olive oil, tomato paste and about 2 cups of stock. That pressure cooked on high for 10 minutes. Then I released the pressure (my husband calls it "releasing the aromas" because it smelled soooo good) and added in the mushrooms, carrots, celery, spices, and more broth. I brought that up to low pressure and let it go for about 3 to 4 minutes. Then, added in the tortellinis with the lid off for a couple minutes and we had a dinner in MINUTES that used to take literally HOURS!!!

I decided on the Fagor 10-quart futuro model for several reasons:

1. It's stainless steel. I don't like cooking with aluminum.

2. The 10-quart size is awesome and it is not too big. It's just right for my family of four because we like leftovers and have company for dinner often.

3. I like that this model is made in Spain rather than China.

4. I liked the steamer basket/grater that came with this.

5. The easy handles on the lid. I went back and forth on this one, but after using it am SO GLAD I went with this handle design. It will store nicely and it really is super easy.

6. The two pressure settings of 1 and 2. It will be nice having a lower pressure setting when I cook tender vegetables.

It was so intimidating that first go-round but it was so easy! You should see the steam fly out when released. It's amazing how the cooker can sit so quietly on the stove. I was not expecting the big rush of steam, so it made me jump the first time but these are totally safe and really make cooking fun and GOOD! I had no problems taking the lid off when the pressure came down. I was a little nervous about that, too, but it was no big deal whatsoever!

I received this model as a wedding gift and have never looked back. I was scared of pressure cooking the burning of things, the exploding lids, the "is it done yet" questions. This pot has never failed me. I use it all the time to cook up legumes and veggies. No more store bought beans for our family. It cooks about 2 times as fast as my friend's cheap aluminum one, so it holds pressure well. The lid is easy to set up, the safety features don't get in the way, and as long as you remember to line up the marks on the lid with the ones on the handle, you will never have a problem. I've had it for over 2 years, use it very often and I'm yet to replace the gasket. Could not be happier.

Best Deals for Fagor Futuro Pressure Cookers

I bought a Fagor 10 quart pressure cooker about 3 weeks ago and so far the only quibble I have, and it's not a big one, is that it could be a little easier for newbies to tell when the thing is up to its cooking pressure. The manual, and the video that came with the PC both say that it's up to pressure when the little yellow button pop up. That's not actually true. When the button pops up, that means that the pot is pressurized, not that it is up to 15 psi. It is up to full pressure when wisps of steam start coming out of the relief valve.

Today I made Lentil Soup with 10 minutes of cooking time. If I had started timing when the yellow button popped up the lentils would not have been done because it took (I'm guessing here, I didn't time this part) an extra 2 or 3 minutes from the point where the yellow indicator button popped up to when stream started coming out of the relief valve. If the steam is hissing out then you need to turn down the heat until wisps of steam gently escape.

I have an electric stove so there's that issue of "thermal inertia" where I make an adjustment to but it takes a short bit of time for it to respond. It is just the nature of the beast for electric ranges. A good tip from a PC cookbook said to use two burners, one to heat the PC up to pressure and a second burner turned on at the same time to a lower setting so all you have to do is move the PC from the high temperature burner to the lower temperature one.

I had an "El Cheapo" stainless steel old-style (first generation) PC and the setting on my stove for cooking was the letter "M" on the word Med. on the dial. With the Futuro all I need is the "m" on word Wm on the dial. This is a much lower setting. It is surprising how little energy is needed to maintain pressure with this PC.

The build quality is excellent one reason I bought the Futuro is that this model is still made in Spain. I've had enough trouble with Made in China gear that I wasn't about to trust our well-being to Chinese quality control. (This is a whole other issue but I now look for alternatives to Chinese made items whenever possible). If they are willing to add a poisonous material (melamine) to milk to make it test higher in protein and kill a handful of babies and sicken thousands more how much could they care about me standing in front of a stainless steel pot pressurized to 15 psi? I shouldn't have to worry that my PC is an I.E.D.

(Taking a breath now)

The bottom of the pot is very thick and spreads the heat well. As I said earlier, I made Lentil Soup today and I realized as it was nearly done that I added the lentils first so they were sitting on the bottom of the pot and I added the other ingredients on top of them. I use highest heat setting to bring the PC up to pressure (an electric stove will boil a pot of water quicker than a gas stove) so it is a very high heat. I was worried that the beans might burn a bit because I'd forgotten to stir the ingredients before heating up to pressure. But when I emptied the pot there wasn't the slightest evidence of that. The soup is delicious!

I like the short handles on the Futuro, it is easier to store. The operating valve is simple to remove and clean and the silicone gasket is easy to remove and it makes no difference which side is up when replaced so there is one less thing I can screw up. I bought the glass lid for $10 from Amazon and now I've got a very high quality 10 qt. pot for non-PC usage.

A couple of days ago I made Pulled Pork for sandwiches from a 4.5 pound piece of boneless pork loin (lower fat, ya know) that turned out wonderfully in the PC. We're having that again tonight with a cup of Lentil Soup. This has changed the way we do much of our cooking.

I'm sorry if I'm burying the lead but the new generation of pressure cookers is very, very safe. They are nothing like the ones that your mothers or grandmothers had. I'm assuming that most people who are looking at these fairly expensive PCs already know quite a bit about them so you probably know that but I felt I should make the point for newbies.

Buy a couple of good PC cookbooks when you buy your PC and you'll get a ton of good advice about using them, including how to adapt your family's favorite recipes to the PC.

Good grief! Did I do 800+ words about my PC? I need an editor after only one margarita.

If you're looking for a PC you can't go wrong with the Fagor. Enjoy!

Honest reviews on Fagor Futuro Pressure Cookers

I picked the futuro because I like the small footprint of the handles. I've had it about 6 months and was using it for beans, desserts (makes a great cheesecake and creme brulee!!), but kept finding that a lot of steam was coming out of the handle area and it was taking about 40% longer to cook to cook things then the recipe called for, so was not totally happy. One day I was reading through the instruction manual and saw instructions on how to tighten up the handles (take a phillips screwdriver and voila!). I checked, and one of my handles was very loose, so I tightened it up and now my Fagor works perfectly! So, if you get one and it doesn't seem to be working as it should, check for a loose handle. This is my first pressure cooker and I really love it! I checked out several pressure cookbooks from the library, but ended up buying The Pressure Cooker Cookbook by Toula Patsalis. Her cookbook is great if you like Mediterranean inspired food. I made her lamb meatballs last night FABULOUS and cooked in only 5 minutes!!!!!

Love, love my pressure cooker! Cooks well and fast. Compatible with induction cooktop. Easy to wash. This size is for a small family. If your family is larger than three, you are better off with the 8-quart size. Instruction booklet is easy to read, really. Definitely worth every penny. Made in Spain.
