I purchased this as a gift and was pleased when it arrived. It looked very nice, the pictures of the garment were accurate, and the fit on the recipient was spot on.

The problem is this is not a very good apron. It is made of a very thin cotton with a bit of a sheen/screen on the material. It just does not work well as a "working" apron, even in the home. Now, if you want something cute to throw on at a cocktail or dinner party after all the cooking is done so you can be dressed the part of the well appointed hostess and home maker, then this is perfect.

I'm not saying I don't like the item, but just know what it is before you make your purchase, and be sure you don't actually need an apron instead of a fashion accessory.

I ordered the aqua damask. I was very torn because so many of the flirty apron patterns are adorable. I loved loved loved this apron when I first put it on. It's made from a double-layered, polyester-type fabric that seemed sturdy and pretty much waterproof. The straps for the neck tie in the back, so you can set how the apron sits on you (plus a cute tie around the neck adds a little extra bit of femininity to the whole affair). The waist ties are long so they accommodate almost any figure, and easily tie make a pretty bow in the front. The pocket in the front is helpful too. Overall, a winner!

Now on to the negatives (or why this item didn't get 5 stars): after I washed the apron, I noticed that the black pattern on the front didn't hold up well in the washer. The design was somewhat compromised and looked like it was worn off in places, which in my mind is a tragedy, since I bought this mostly because it was pretty. The neck and waist ties got incredibly shriveled up, and one of the neck straps started separating from the apron itself.

Perhaps I need to wash this on delicate... but honestly the whole purpose of an apron is to protect your clothes and soak up all the cooking mess... so by it's very nature.. IT'S MEANT TO GET DIRTY... and consequently get washed a lot. I worry that this won't last too long, since I cook a lot... and the washer might just destroy this lovely little apron in just a few washings.

I agree with the two other reviewers that this is a cute apron that fits well. Unfortunately it washes terribly. After the first washing the black color faded to a pilled dark gray. On top of that, this thin fabric wrinkled like mad. I had to iron this apron to make it look somewhat normal. Fabric quality just wasn't there.

Honest reviews on Flirty Aprons Women's Original Apron

I have a small apron collection and thought this one was cute, so I bought it. Never have I been so disappointed by an apron in my whole life. I didn't even know an apron could fit this badly. I am a size 6, so when this apron didn't even cover my whole front side, I was shocked. That mannequin it is pictured with must be a size zero, because it does not look like that on me. Not only was the fit terrible, but it felt so cheap! The material was so thin that it could have easily been see-through. Just awful and the fact that I will lose $5 sending it back is rather upsetting.

I am 5'6", 125lb and was anticipating this apron to be a little longer/taller/bigger than it was. I even have a shorter torso, but perhaps larger chest. It looks OK as long as I get the apron to sit on my waist where I want and tie that first, then tie the top part. I would estimate it would fit best on women's size 2 to 4 (I'm usually a 6).

Fabric is very sturdy and thicker/stiffer than I was expecting, which I like. Pockets are useful. The apron itself is beautiful and I am very pleased with it!

Researching mini cocottes, I was annoyed by many reviewers complaining that they are small, and if you've read as many of these complaints as I have, you are probably writing me off right now as someone who doesn't bother to read the provided information about capacity and dimensions. I, however, am complaining because I did read and consider carefully, and I decided on this one because it was listed as a "12-Ounce Mini Oval Cocotte."

I am a huge fan of Le Creuset enameled cast iron, but think Le Creuset stoneware is overpriced and far less useful, so I was at first inclined to buy Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 1/3-Quart Mini Cocotte, Red but I decided that its listed size (1/3 quart) wasn't enough larger than my 8 oz. Staub mini cocotte to make much difference; I was looking for something slightly larger.

I decided on this, despite its being overpriced stoneware, because 12 ounces sounded about right, so imagine my disappointment when it arrived and right on the box it says its capacity is 1/3 quart, the exact size of the enameled cast iron mini-cocotte I had rejected as too small.

Of course, it was the box that was correct and the Amazon description that was misleading. I am now trying to decide whether to return it. It's a nice enough 1/3 quart mini casserole but not worth Le Creuset prices.

I liked WMF pressure cooker, but after two years, it started leaking the steam between the lid and pan, so I bought the gasket.

I don't know why, but it didn't work. I don't see the steam, but just my pressure cooker didn't work.

I have Fagor stainless steel pressure cooker. Some steam is away between the lid and pot, but it does work as a pressure cooker.

It doesn't work for my cooker either. Too bad. I guess it's MADE IN CHINA.

Can't see any difference between this and the one that came with the cooker.

This fits the very small wmf cooker (1.5L I think) that only comes in one height, not the other larger models.

Arrived as advertised and in a timely manner.

Setup Comments:

Some assembly was required the pot had two holes in it: one for the thermometer and one for the valve. There were instructions, but they didn't cover where to put the rubber O-Rings. There was also a plastic device that was some sort of ball bearing thing that I never figured out what to do with.

This is probably obvious, but make sure that you test it for leaks with water before you use it on the stove. You wouldn't want to be dealing with hot liquid leaking out of the thermometer and/or the valve.

Usage Comments:

The thermometer is too high when mashing. A 10lb grain mash with the corresponding 2 1/2 gallons of water doesn't reach the thermometer probe.

The drain valve is high such that over a gallon of liquid remains in the pot when the pot is level. You have to "tip" the pot to drain the remaining liquid. I don't see that there was any real alternative that could have been done.

The drain valve has a small lock that I found took some getting used to.

Successfully able to brew 2x 5 gallon all-grain batches of beer so far. Used first as a mash tun, using false bottom and screen, and then as brew kettle after removing spent grain. The 10 gallon vessel is more than enough to handle a full wort boil for a 5 gallon batch, though that may not be true for higher gravity beers. Higher gravity beers may also require a larger grain bill, and considering the false bottom effectively makes the mash volume 2 gallons shorter, you may consider the 16 gallon version, or a separate mash vessel if you are making higher gravity brews.

I really like this pot. I have made two batches of beer so far.

Pros:

It seems well made.

Handles are welded on.

Thermometer and spigot bolt on through hole in pot using o-rings to seal.

Bottom is thick and transfers the heat evenly.

Cons:

Probably should order some extra o-rings(came with 2 spare)

Packaging could be better. Mine came with a small dent courtesy UPS.

This pot is all you need to make 5 gallons of brew! Excellent quality!! There was a minor ding in it from shipping but it popped right back with a couple taps. You can do everything in this pot. Batch sparge makes it easy. The false bottom and tube screen left my brew crystal clear. I would definitely get a coil to cool down after the final boil. Great product... heats up fast with an outdoor burner.

I bought this as a birthday present for my wife, but wasn't expecting it to really perform any better than any other pan for making crepes. Blow me away, the blue steel finish took on seasoning beautifully and the high heat retention of the steel seared crepe batter beautifully. Recommendation follow the Cook's Illustrated crepe recipe; including instructions for 20 second sear test with a drop of batter for perfect results every time. Like any uncoated metal, the blue steel can rust if not properly seasoned so follow the same maintenance rules you must use with cast iron: never leave soaking in water; smear oil over it with paper towel after washing and heat til dry on burner or in oven to draw the oil into the metal. I've used this pan dozens of times with perfect results. In retrospect, looking at this thin little pan I find the results shocking. Center to edge heat distribution is superior to my All Clad pans when making crepes. Sear is better too. This pan is just ideal for crepes. Great value too.

After properly seasoning the pan it works like a charm. One of my favorites to use. Would take a whole set if they manufactured them.

This was an excellent buy. You can make a lot more in it besides crepes. It is perfect for basically any breakfast food. It comes to you as basically a big hunk of steel, covered in some oil that looked strange, so we wiped the oil throughly off in case it wasn't an oil we'd want to eat and seasoned it ourselves. It is important to season a pan like this properly right off the bat. If you don't know how, look it up online. I read this article right around the time I was seasoning the pan:

If you have never made crepes before, I suggest the first thing you make in this pan is a fried egg. Caution: this pan cooks QUICK. I was surprised at how fast I cooked my egg at medium heat. It was completely done in 30 seconds basically. This pan is basically like cauterizing your food, which is part of the beauty I think. My only complaint is that its not easy to flip stuff, so use a nice silicone or wooden spatula the first time to make sure you don't burn the thing you're cooking by accident trying to flip it.

Otherwise, enjoy the pan!

P.S. buy a cast iron pan handle mitt along with it or you will most certainly burn yourself.

This is a perfect crepe pan. I was initially going to get the smaller pan, but am happy that I went with this slightly larger one. Quick cleaning and seasoning and it was ready to go. The first crepe even came out perfectly.

I'm french and make crêpes very often. This pan works fine for me. I don't like the tefflon types, so the blue carbon steel is a better choice for me. It is heavy though and not absolutly flat. But the crêpes are good easy to make and cook fast and well evenly.

After reading about the possible health risks associated with Teflon, we carefully went shopping for stainless steel. While I agree that a lid would have been lovely, I must say this is a great pan even heat disbursement with a good sturdy feel to it. We have used it for everything grilled sandwiches, breakfast meats, searing, sauteing and just last night made a huge batch of homemade chili. Clean up is a snap! We love this pan! Just purchased one for my daughter.

I bought this skillet to sear salmon, before puttting it into a 425-degree oven. I am not sure if it is a good thing to put non-stick into a hot oven, so I bought this pan. It worked like a charm. It sears perfectly, and after the oven for 7 minutes, it was a mess. but it cleaned up shiny as new following the directions to fill with water, and clean with Bon Ami or a similar product. It was a brown mess but now looks like new. The important thing is to read the instructions that come with the pan. I think I'll order the other sizes since this one worked so well. I think it works as well as the All Clad pans I have but at a fraction of the price.

Cooks wonderfully! Foods brown uniformly (instead of brown towards the center and 'raw' nearer the edge). And the bottom is truly FLAT, which means liquids do not pool. Consequently, foods cook uniformly and require less re-arranging. Finally we love the handles. The long one stays cool and the short one opposite makes it easy to pour out liquids. Wonderful product!

Honest reviews on Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Open Skillet

First let me tell you I have no affiliation with All Clad what so ever I am a retired caterer. This is the first piece of Cuisinart cookware I have purchased.

Right out of the box this has the heft and looks of All Clad it is a beautiful pan. Howevever, as I do with all the cookware I purchase I put it on a level surface and see if it wobbles. Unfortunately this one does to a small degree. This means that unless you are cooking on a gas stove you will get uneven heat.

The way Amazon is bouncing around it's pricing I got this one a few days ago at a real good price with Amazon prime. I will keep this pan for that reason and to remind me you get what you pay for.

Before all the reviewers who believe there should never be a negative review written about a product they adore please remember this may not be an issue to you but it could be a big issue to someone else.

If the price of this cookware brings the masses back to stainless steel cooking I am all for it. Getting away from teflon is the best step you can make in not only improving your health but also your cooking skills.

I got three stainless steel pans at the same time both the 10-inch and the 12-inch Cuisinart and an All-Clad casserole with lid. The 10-inch Cuisinart seems to be okay, but the 12-inch pan developed a hot-spot in the center, which burned the food and discolored the pan the first time I used it. The discoloration is in the form of bluish spots that are visible on the outside center of the pan, and which I believe indicate a flaw in either the aluminum core, or in the bonding process. ... I know how to cook with stainless pots, so did not use excessive heat. I returned the 12-inch pan, and am using the 10-inch one to give it a good test before I'll keep it. I've also been using the All-Clad pan, and do believe there is a quality difference between the two brands, with All-Clad being superior. I also like the fact that the All-Clad is made in the USA. I've purchased a 12-inch skillet of that brand to replace the one I returned. (A big thumbs up for the Amazon.com return policy. Since the pan was flawed, they even paid the return postage!)

Update: I really like the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro 10 inch skillet. I cook eggs and make omelets in it with absolutely no sticking. I wipe out the pan with a paper towel and it sparkles like new! The Cuisinart pan has a turned edge, so pouring contents can be done with no dripping. The All Clad pan does not have that feature, and the price of All Clad 12-inch skillets is prohibitive, so I am going to try another one of the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro 12-inch skillets. Maybe the faulty one I got was a fluke. I'll update again if there is more to add.

***Update #2I now have-and have usedmy Cuisinart MultiClad Pro 12 inch skillet, and have updated the review to 5 stars. I've attached a short video of the first effort at frying eggs in it. After frying the eggs, I let the pan cool and wiped it out with a paper towel. Again, NO WASHING NECESSARY! Fabulous. (I do think my first experience with the skillet I returned WAS a fluke. Thank goodness for the Amazon.com return policy!!) I do hold to the statement that All Clad is superior, but I can't afford it. Wish I could!)

****Update #3 I've never misused the 12" skillet by "shocking" it with cold water when it is hot, but it is now warped so that it does not sit flat on my glass cooktop. It's junk now.

All three pans are truly beautiful, and I've not had a problem with sticking other than the above mentioned, of course. Here is the trick to keep in mind, for those who are newbies to cooking on other than non-stick surfaces: "Hot pan, cold oil." The pan should be heated on medium until water drops skitter around on the surface, then oil can be added. It does not take much oil!!! Add the food to be cooked when the oil is heated. If the oil spatters while you are cooking, the pan is too hot. I never use heat higher than 6 on my stove dial, which would be medium high. That would be searing heat.

In addition, there are websites online which tell how to season a stainless pan to make it non-stick. It really works!!

I bought this set for our beach house after using cheap stainless reverware for way too long. What a difference it made in the food I cook. I knew I didn't want anything with the word 'non-stick' in it, so stainless or hard anodized seemed like my only choices. So glad I went with the HA product! It heats up quickly and evenly and allows a cooler cooking temp while still getting a proper sear on the food, plus it looks great on the pot rack. If you use it properly (preheating the pan and adding a bit of oil before the room temperature food) there is no sticking and clean up is easy peasy. I bought my set at the Calphalon outlet store nearby and it came with an Everyday Pan and set of utensils as bonus gifts so it was a really good deal in the end. I think the set pieces are really well thought out and I don't feel that there's anything missing. I didn't know I could love my cookware so much I want to marry it. Now I'm thinking about purchasing some hard anodized pieces for our town house where I mostly have copper and All Clad cookware.

Initially I was disappointed. I switched from no stick as I got tired of all the so called super no sticks that are supposed to be durable but aren't, and I wanted to get away from cooking with a chemical layer in my pots.

It cooks as well as advertised and other commentors say, but the clean up was appreciably more work. I know I made the decision to go away from no stick but I was still disappointed that I had to pay the price. Then I discovered that by soaking before washing, the clean up was as easy as no stick. One soak with a time proportional to the mess that I had made and the washing was easy.

I think that I have my lifetime set.

Best Deals for Calphalon 13-pc. Commercial Hard-Anodized Cookware Set

Many years ago, I purchased a single Calphalon pan it was the Commercial Hard-Anodized everyday pan and it really did become my everyday pan. I researched all the makers of cookware from All-Clad to Discount stores such as Wal-Mart and I kept coming back to this everyday pan so I decided to go with that.

This is an amazing set it is not non-stick..........matter of fact it is made for browning and searing and that is why I LOVE it. One can use metal utensils with it, and cleansers, etc. It is NOT dishwasher safe it is similar to cast iron in that it will get an odd white hue to it and then it will need to be seasoned but just an hour or so of soaking and food just wipes right out! They are truly amazing.

These pans heat evenly, are heavy (but not too heavy) and just feel right. You won't go wrong with these and I am very pleased with my purchase.

Honest reviews on Calphalon 13-pc. Commercial Hard-Anodized Cookware Set

This cookware heats evenly, cooks beautifully and the handles stay cool! This is not teflon coated but hard anodized metal so foods brown better. Cleaning is easy but treat these pans with respect. The directions say don't use spray oil, but regular oil or butter is fine. Use a mild teflon scrub pad when cleaning and if possible let it soak, but try not to burn in the first place. I also stack my pans with a small piece of bubble wrap between to avoid scratching. This set contains all the sizes one would need for an average size family except for the stockpot which is a little on the small size. My last set of teflon coated Calphalon lasted over 10 years and I think this set will go twice that long if not forever...

I can't say enough for Caphalon. I've owned their products since before they branded themselves as Caphalon. This equipment heats rapidly and evenly. You actually need to be careful because cook times will be shorter. Boiling happens faster. Pay attention!

One of the things I've always enjoyed about this equipment is that you generally don't have the problem of sauces burned to the bottom of the pan while not fully cooked at the top. Less stirring is required due to the even heat transfer up the sides of the pots.

I also enjoy the new handles on the lids and pots. They stay cool while cooking. They do warm up, but you can remove the lids without using a pot-holder, unless you are cooking at very high temps for a long time. The pot handles just stay cool. Great design.

So far the hard-anodized finish is nice and easy enough to clean. It isn't really a non-stick finish, but I've found that non-stick finishes tend to wear out faster. I wanted to try hard-anodized hoping for a longer lasting finish. The last set I purchased from them was in 1996 or 1997 and the usefulness of them far out lasted the non-stick finish. Seems like the non-stick finish began to wear out somewhere around 2004 or 2006. I finally decided to retire them to get something new this year, but we were still using them daily.

Seems like less than oh say $35 per year for great equipment is a bargain.

I got this blender for my wife for Christmas. She always hated how our cheap, $50 blender couldn't handle ice when making smoothies. I didn't know anything about the Ninja, but it seemed to be gaining a lot of popularity so I decided to look into it. The thing that really sold me on this blender was simply the fact that it could handle ice like it's nothing at all (it can quite literally turn ice into snow in a matter of seconds) and even though I wanted a Vitamix, I just couldn't justify spending $400+ if this blender could do what we wanted it to do.

I also liked that it came with the single serve option, because not only can we get rid of our Magic Bullet, but sometimes blending is a hassle because we don't feel like cleaning the pitcher. But with the single serve, it is a lot less hassle to clean, plus there isn't anything wasted because we can make just the right amount. Basically it has all the same benefits that the Magic Bullet does. And yes, even the single serve pitcher has no problem with blending ice.

This blender is by far the best blender I have ever used. You can *easily* tell the difference between this blender and regular, non-high end blenders. But I also noticed that a lot of people seem to be comparing this to a Vitamix or Blendtec, and I'll say it's just not going to stack up compared to those blenders (there is a reason those blenders cost more than 3x the amount this blender does). So if you've got your heart set on a Vitamix or Blendtec, and for you having the absolute smoothest drinks are worth that kind of money, then you might as well take the plunge and get what you want. But if you're like me and simply wanted to have great smoothies, but you're not expecting Jamba Juice level quality, then this is a really great blender.

A few things need to be said though:

-The six blade technology seems great on paper, and has its advantages. But one downside is it makes it so you cannot fit as much into the pitcher as it takes up some room. That is probably why Europro gave this thing an extra large pitcher. But on the plus side, I've noticed a lot of cheaper blenders have problems with the contents getting stuck at the bottom near the blades while everything else above it doesn't get blended. That's usually because the cheaper blenders simply don't have the power to make a powerful enough vortex like the Vitamix does. Also, because of the Ninja's blades being shaped more like a food processor's blades, it makes it easier to make things like salsa using the pulse option. A regular blender tends to blend too much, even when using the pulse option.

-The description is wrong, this unit is 1100W, not 1000W.

-It makes AWESOME fruit smoothies. But I tried a green drink that was nothing but spinach, carrots, apples, and a cucumber. Aside from the fact that it was the nastiest drink ever, it was too pulpy to drink. I'm not sure how a Vitamix would have handled this disgusting concoction, but I've heard a lot of complaints that the Ninja doesn't handle green drinks very well. But I have found that if I essentially make a fruit smoothie, made of things like banana, strawberries, or blueberries, and then throw in a handful of leafy greens, it handles it very well.

I'd recommend this blender to anyone who wants to have a good, heavy duty blender, but cannot afford to spend $400+ on a Vitamix. It's stylish, it makes the best smoothies I've had from a home blender around this price, and it's got a lot of power for a reasonable price.

UPDATE 2/8/2013: My wife and I have been using this blender just about every single day, two to three times a day since getting it. So far it is still doing very well and working as good as new. But with more experience with it, I just wanted to give a little more details.

If you're reading this review and wondering whether or not you should get this model of the Ninja or the regular $99 Ninja Pro without the single serve, I would say you should really get this Ninja. Because one problem I have found with the big pitcher is that it cannot grind flax seeds because the blade sits about an inch from the bottom of the pitcher. This means that if you put flax seeds (or some other grains) into the pitcher the blades will spin above the seeds and they won't get get ground. The only way around this is to put in enough flax seeds so that they can reach the blades. Or a better way is to use the single serve cups. The single serve cups have a more traditional blender blade set up that sits at the bottom of the cups and this makes grinding flax seeds a breeze.

Also, there has been concerns with the Ninja making green smoothies. In general, fruit smoothies turn out very smooth in the Ninja blender. Green smoothies can also be done. However, it partly depends on what you consider a good smoothie. The Ninja can blend green smoothies to a drinkable consistency, and you'll never have a "chunk" to chew if you let it blend long enough (at least for a minute or two on speed 3) but it will often be gritty. However, the single serve cups are the key to make the green smoothies into a "Vitamix-like" consistency. In general the single serve cups make better smoothies than the big pitcher does. Also please see the comments on this review where I give a link to the basics of making a green smoothie. I think it can help people out a lot, as it really helped me.

So what is the big pitcher good for aside from the obvious (more volume)? It can make great fruit smoothies, it can make drinkable green smoothies (but not as good as the single serve cups) and I use it to make homemade peanut butter! I just go to Winco and buy some dirt-cheap bulk peanuts and put them into the blender. Then I blend it on 3 for a few minutes and before I know it, I have a real, home-made peanut butter. Also, as I said before, because of the big pitcher's food processor-like blades, it does a really good job of chopping food without blending them. I use it all the time to "shred" cabbage for coleslaw, or chop onions. And of course, if I want a large volume of smoothies (even green ones) I'll use the big pitcher.

Overall, if not for the single serve cups, I would probably give this blender a 4 out of 5 stars. But the single serve cups make up for the deficiencies of the pitcher. The main point is that the single serve cups can make fantastic smoothies while the big pitcher can only make great smoothies. But the big pitcher is good when used as a food processor, which the small cups cannot do. And the small cups are better for grinding grains like flax seeds.

Quick update/note: the price seems to have increased here. Check out Bed Bath & Beyond. Last I checked, they had it for $129, less their 20% coupons, that's $103.

We got this several months ago and have used consistently it for at least two smoothies per day. Ingredients range from really tough (ice) to leafy and insubstantial (kale), and of course a plethora of fruit, and it blends it all down to tiny, consistent pieces within seconds. I think ten seconds on this blender with the small cup is overkill. It is very fast and very strong. Flavor is important to me, so if I could taste or had to chew on the kale, I wouldn't include it.

Before this, I had the Bella Cucina (a knock off of the magic bullet). I loved it until its untimely death but the contrast in quality is stark. The cups are much thicker and clearer, their lids taller and more useful, and they are worlds apart on their blending capabilities. Every piece in this thing just feels like great quality and makes the Bella cucina look worse than ever by comparison.

I LOVE having the option of the large pitcher or two two smaller cups. I wanted another small-cup blender like the magic bullet but also need a bigger one occasionally, and who has room for two appliances that do the same thing? The fact that every piece is dishwasher safe is a huge bonus and a must for me. The instructions say "top rack preferred" but the huge large blender cup is way too tall for the top rack.

I just wish there were more cup attachments/cup blades sold separately. As of now (late 2012/early 2013), they're not. This comes with two cups but only one blade that fits the cups. That's certainly not enough for me to knock down a star, though. ***UPDATE: EXTRA CUPS/PITCHER NOW SOLD SEPARATELY AND AVAILABLE AT BED BATH AND BEYOND.

We fill the cups with the ingredients the night before, then fill them up with juice in the morning, blend, and we each have a healthy breakfast in under ten seconds. We both have experienced a lasting energy boost from the smoothies.

Update: I've now had this blender for six months and I can't imagine living without it. Actually, I'm pretty sure I'd be on my way to an early grave without it. This thing is a godsend, and so is kale. After discussing superfoods with a knowledgeable Whole Foods employee, I started adding acai berry powder, chia seeds/psyllium husk, wheatgrass, and some protein powder. This is the perfect way to get a huge portion of your daily nutrients, antioxidants, and cancer-fighting goodness in a delicious smoothie. I feel better than I have since I was a kid!

Tips for green smoothies: with this ninja, the kale is easy chopped into such tiny pieces you really won't taste it. However, if adding other greens with a stronger flavor, a bit of green apple/green apple juice or a whole kiwi will wipe that flavor right out. Orange juice also helps a lot if you use it as your base. I've found the best, though, to be a very ripe banana.

I must have researched a dozen different blenders before finally deciding. If money was NOT an issue I def would have gone for the vitamix. But since money is an issue I needed a lower priced blender. I saw this in walmart and thought it looked perfect for my needs (daily smoothie and occasional cooking). I was very pleasantly surprised by this blender!! The small individual serving blender is perfect for my daily smoothies with soooo much less clean up. The power is amazing! I crush and blend ice, frozen fruit, and protein mixes with the individual. I use the big one for mixes and larger jobs. Ive had the blender now for about 2 months and I still love it. I highly recommend this for fruit smoothies. I havent tried green smoothies yet...(My body isnt ready for that)..but if/when I do I will update review.

Honest reviews on Ninja BL660 Professional Style Blender with Single Serve

Had some hesitancy in purchasing this product after reading the mixed Amazon reviews. But after my Oster $30 blender finally kicked the bucket and in need for my daily smoothie, I decided to purchase the Ninja. While some reviews complained at how noisy it is, I was pleasantly surprised at how much quieter it was over the Oster (maybe 40% reduction). In terms of blending, wow, no comparison what so ever to the Oster. While the Oster really struggled to blend frozen fruit, ground flax seed, Greek yogurt, and some V-8 juice, the Ninja blended it without any effort in only three pulses (and I really don't understand how some reviewers faulted the Ninja for not blending smoothies perfectly)! The Ninja is an impressive piece of engineering that is the epitome of thoughtful consumer design. The machine is hefty, the pitcher made of quality and durable polycarbonate, and I expect this blender to last way beyond the two to three years I get out of a typical $30 blender. I haven't crushed ice yet for margaritas, but I expect it will handle that task given how powerful the motor is and the sharpness (and number of blades). But, as others have warned, the blades are unbelievably sharp. Despite knowing this fact, I still managed to slice my index finger severely (should have had 3-4 stitches-but I am stubborn, just rubbed some dirt in it) while trying to extract the last bit of smoothie from the pitcher (warning, do no turn upside down without the lid locked firmly in place-the blade apparatus slides out very easily). While some might fault the Ninja for my injury, it was operator error all the way. So do not underestimate the blades, and in fact, I clean it by a few drops of Dawn, hot water, a couple of pulses, rinse and then done. Don't even try to take out blade assembly out and wash, too much chance for error. I also love the suction cups that keeps the Ninja firmly on the counter, it doesn't move like the Oster did when blending (though some might complain that moving the Ninja from the counter-top to a cabinet might find the suction cups annoying). Finally, after comparing the reviews between the Ninja Professional vs. the entry level Ninja, I decided to go with the Professional because of the single serve options. Haven't used them yet but I can see the utility of having them (not to mention, it seems the Professional is a bit more heavy duty than the entry level Ninja). If you are wondering if the Ninja price tag, more three times of a bottom end blender is worth it, I will attest that the Ninja Professional is worth the extra cost.

Pyrex No Leak Lids Rectangle Baking Dishes Review

Pyrex No Leak Lids 6 Cup Rectangle Baking Dish with Plastic Lid
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
Like many people these days I was looking to replace my old, barely-functioning plastic storage containers and upgrade to glass for health reasons. In my quest for the best product I bought and ultimately returned Snapware Glasslock, Kinetic Glasslock, and Anchor Hocking TrueSeal. The Anchor Hocking TrueSeal leaked like a sieve so that was an immediate no. The Snapware Glasslock and Kinetic Glasslock both were leakproof, but I decided against them because I like the look of Pyrex No Leak better, and it has additional benefits such as a microwaveable lid and oven proof glass.

What I love about Pyrex No Leak: First and foremost it is 100% leakproof. I was a little worried about buying Pyrex because their Basic Glass Containers (blue lids) and Glass Lids Containers (red lids) are definitely not leakproof. I tested the Pyrex No Leak out of the box by filling them with water and shaking them upside down, not one drop came out. Yesterday, I packed soup for lunch and my lunch bag turned upside down in the car. The No Leak performed great and not a drop was spilled. The round and rectangular shapes are equally waterproof.

Next I feel that Pyrex No Leak has the best overall features of any glass containers on the market. The lids are BPA-free, and the containers are freezer, microwave, and dishwasher (top rack) safe. While these features are pretty standard, Pyrex No Leak containers are also oven-safe (glass containers only) and the lids are microwaveable. All the competing lids must be removed for microwave use, and while I am trying to get away from using plastic, the reality is there are times when I don't have or don't want to use a paper towel and isn't it nice that I can simply use the lid if I want? Also the clean up is easy. To wash in the dishwasher I remove the inner rubber seal from the lid and place the seal, lid, and container in the top rack. I haven't had any issues with the lid warping or the glass containers breaking or anything like that. I've also washed the containers by hand and that is quick and easy as well.

Finally, the Pyrex No Leak containers look fantastic. The grey lids are a nice neutral color that will go with any decor. At first I was looking for clear lids. I have a few Rubbermaid Stainshield containers and I love being able to see the food through the top of the container. So I thought I would love the locking lids from Snapware and Kinetic. My personal feeling is that, sitting atop a clear glass container, the clear plastic lids look cloudy by comparison. Also I really like that the No Leak lids are traditionally styled (no lock down tabs on the sides). It looks very streamlined and modern.

Overall I am very happy with my Pyrex No Leak containers and I've ordered a bunch more. My only complaints are the following: The glass containers are hot to the touch after microwaving. This will of course be true of any glass containers, not just these. Pyrex, if you are listening I would love to see you offer a removable rubber sleeve that can go over the glass containers for microwave use (much like the cardboard sleeves that coffee shops use). Of course if I'm at home I can just use an oven mitt to remove the container, but the rubber sleeve would be great for work and travel. Another disappointment was actually the microwave vent in the lid. With my old plastic containers I would just loosen the lid and place it on top to microwave. Pyrex No Leak has a specially designed vent, and I excited to try this new feature. I reheated split pea soup in the microwave with the lid on and the microwave vent opened and after 1:30 I had split pea explosion all over the microwave. I reheated the same soup, but this time left the microwave vent closed and placed the lid loosely on top, and it heated beautifully, no mess. So I'm still giving the product five stars because it works great using the alternate method. As a side note, I was initially worried that Pyrex No Leak containers do not nest. You must put the lids on and stack them for storage. I have a LOT of containers, but this has not been an issue for me. Glass containers are going to take up more space than plastic anyway so I don't think you save too much room by having containers that nest.

I currently own the 2-cup round, 4-cup round, 3-cup rectangular, and 6-cup rectangular containers. I have since ordered more of these plus the 7-cup round and 11-cup rectangular. I wish they offered a 1 cup size, but they do not. The 2, 3, and 4-cup sizes are great for lunches. I'm looking forward to getting the 7-cup and 11-cup for large batches of leftovers.

These are a perfect size to take a lunch to work or to store some small items in your fridge. The glass is heavy duty and the lid seals tightly. The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is they don't stack very well. I have some other rectangular pyrex containers that have a small slope to the sides so that they can stack; they don't go nest the way down but at least partway, and they are easy to remove from each other. These get stuck together if you stack them; you'll need to put a piece of paper to keep them separated if you stack them.

I have 2 of these pyrex containers and they worked great at the beginning. Unfortunately, The lid and the seal eventually lost their shape and the containers started leaking. This happened after less than 6 months.

Honest reviews on Pyrex No Leak Lids Rectangle Baking Dishes

These are leak-proof because each container come with a 3rd piece; a gasket that snaps into the lid. Now you have a gasket AND a corresponding groove in the lid (narrow) to clean after each use. I hate hate, hate, hate cleaning those gaskets, after bringing my lunch to work.

The gasket is a nuisance.

I own the 3-cup and 6-cup containers. They look nice and can be used in the freezer, refrigerator, oven, and microwave. The lids are BPA-free and, so far, have worked well in the microwave. The vent on the lids, for microwaving, is very useful. I also like the fact that the glass and the lids are both made in the USA.

Amazon is my favorite place to shop but this item is overpriced at the moment. The 3-cup container is being sold for almost $10. I purchased a set of 3 containers, two 6-cup and one 3-cup, for $14 and change at my local Target.

SodaStream 1-Liter Carbonating Bottle, Stainless Steel Review

SodaStream 1-Liter Carbonating Bottle, Stainless Steel

People, please read what you're buying and look at the picture before yelling at the manufacturer. This is a plastic bottle with decorative stainless steel trim. It's the same bottle as their standard gray/white/black plastic, but the trim is replaced with stainless steel (or perhaps the best word is clad the top is still gray plastic underneath). It looks and feels a little nicer than the other bottle, and the stainless is less likely to crack if hit/dropped. I like these, and they work great on my machine.

If you want glass/metal only, you need to buy the Penguin machine...

This gives a nice little touch to the other black capped bottles I have I use these steel capped bottles on the table for an informal dinner with guests. Knowing the product is BPA free is very important to me. I only wish these could be washed in the dishwasher, my only MINOR issue with them.

Best Deals for SodaStream 1-Liter Carbonating Bottle, Stainless Steel

These reviewers are cracking me up. Maybe the description has been revised, but it clearly states all over the name and specs this is a plastic bottle with a SS cap and bottom.. Its just a little more fancy then the all plastic bottles... but to rate it low on the fact that you bought a BPA-FREE PLASTIC Carbonating Bottle with Stainless Steel Cap and Bottom, because its plastic... really sad.

I would have rated this 5 stars but I got it on a Thursday! UGH

Honest reviews on SodaStream 1-Liter Carbonating Bottle, Stainless Steel

I don't understand people who order something without reading the description carefully or even going to the manufacturet's site to get maybe more information. This is a great bottle and much better looking than the bottles with black cap & bottom or some other color. The stainless part on the bottom can be screwed off and it can also be screwed back on. Why would anyone want to glue it on. I have had no trouble at all with the caps. They work beautifully. However, I do not wash any of the bottle in hot water. I just rinse them out with tepid water after the contents are consumed. You can buy the bottle from SodaStream for $14.95 plus shipping so the price here is not bad since it includes shipping. You can also buy the bottle at Bed Bath & Beyond for $12 with a 20% off coupon.

I bought 2 of these bottles in order to have a couple of extra ones chilling in the fridge, ready to carbonate. I'm not sure why some people thought these were going to be ALL stainless... I could tell from the photo that they were clear plastic with stainless bottoms and caps only, which is fine for me. Plus it mentions that they are BPA free which implies that they are plastic bottles. I wouldn't want the bottle to be opaque stainless steel anyway. I like seeing the water level inside so I can tell if it's water that I've already carbonated and how much is left in the bottle. We use these every day... fill, chill, carbonate, drink, rinse and repeat :)

This is an item that could easily be on that american sitcom Home ImprovementIt definitely is built with a guy in mind (sorry ladies! lol) its very VERY sturdy and is NOT a wire/steel mesh like so many of the others that just end up rusting or with tiny bits of food or shredded cleaning cloth inside of the meshTHIS IS PURE JOY to use on any pan or pot, I just enjoy frying stuff to see how great this stops the messy splatter or eruption of oil geysers, good price and great value

I cook a full breakfast for my husband and me every morning before we head off to work. Having gone through countless of those wire splatter guards that seem to tear within days of purchase, I was delighted to find the Calphalon 13-Inch Universal Splatter Guard online. It fits securely on any size pot or pan, is lightweight yet sturdy, and cleans up in a breeze through hand washing or in the dishwasher. I can see this lasting for years. A very good quality, well-designed product that I'm glad to have.

Best Deals for Calphalon 13" Splatter Guard

This Calphalon Splatter Guard is so much better than the splatter screens I had (which I gave away). This one size splatter guard will fit an 8, 10 or 12 inch pan. It is definately a quality item and has some weight to it. If your thinking about a splatter guard for your Calphalon or any other cookware, I would hightly recommend this one.

Honest reviews on Calphalon 13" Splatter Guard

I used to have a trio of mesh splatter guards: small, medium, large. They were not sturdy and they disintegrated within three or four years. Then I saw a single-piece stainless steel splatter guard at Williams-Sonoma, but it cost something like $55 for one size. Three different sizes would have cost me close to $150! No thank you.

Finally, I found this splatter guard. It's one, not three: so no juggling in the cabinet for the right size. It's not mesh: so no disintegrating or bending out of shape. And it costs closer to $20 than $150. Hooray!

I've tried this on four different Calphalon pans, and it has worked on each. No effort required, just settle the guard onto the pan and the rim kind of settles into place depending on the size of the pan.

Upon receiving the product, my one concern was whether the food would steam rather than fry, because the perforations in this product seem a bit small. But the product information that came with this splatter guard assured me that food would not steam. And, it doesn't.

Recommended!

I thought that I would really like this product, and I really wanted to. It is more solid than the screens (I always felt like those were fragile). However, the major issue with this product is that the holes are too large. Grease spatter will still make it through so that you have to wipe all around the stove top, just like you would have to do without using the product.

I wish I had kept the originally packaging so that I could return it but c'est la vie. I will be ordering a classic screen splatter guard to replace this one.

Prime Pacific 4 Cup Egg Poacher

I confess I am an egg poaching addict. Among the egg poachers I have tried and experimented with are the pan, cups and lid style, microwaveable units, and those products that utilize the use of 10-inch and 12-inch frying pans. I even tried a funky style where one had to use a knife blade or spoon handle to lift the egg tray to and from the pan; it worked though. Each of these products gave me good poached eggs to a point. All were lacking in finished product desirability or method of operation. Some gave eggs that were on the thin side. Others popped out eggs a bit uncooked or overcooked or one of each, especially the microwaveable units. The best styles I used were the pan, cups and lid combos. And the best of these styles for the price, in my opinion, is this Prime Pacific 4 cup Egg Poacher. Following the instructions, with some heat and time adjustments, will get you nice looking, delicious poached eggs almost every every. (After all, sometimes chefs make errors you know.) The amount of water called for in the instructions is a bit much in my opinion; I reduce it to half and get the same results. I must confess I only make two eggs at a time, so the amount of water called for could take into consideration that four eggs are being made.

Stoves vary in performance, considering heat sources and settings. I use a gas stove, and I bring the water to a boil in the pan using the highest setting. Then I turn the heat to medium high and place the egg tray with its egg filled cups in the pan using the convenient center knob holder on the tray. Over the tray I place the see-through lid. From this point I time 5-6 minutes, after which the eggs are done on the soft side; a longer time will make them hard boiled and good for salads. (Yes! No more shelling eggs for salads poach them instead.) You don't need to use butter or cooking spray in the cups for the eggs to drop out nicely with a nudge of a small rubber spatula, because the cups have a non-stick coating. But I put a dab of butter in the cups anyway. (Old habits are hard to break.) Your timing might be different from mine, taking your stove's performance into consideration.

The Prime Pacific 4 Cup Egg Poacher pan is deep, and this is a plus when your need a small pan for making gravies or sauteing. The product is well constructed ready to give years of good service. I spent a lot of money on egg poachers, and this one is the best of the bunch that came into my kitchen. The other egg poachers I had are now gone to friends and relatives. I am keeping this one for good. I am addicted to it.

Excuse me, I said, opening the box this must be broken it's missing something. I mean how can you have a can opener that doesn't have two levers. Not only that, it doesn't seem to clamp. Just sits there. And you thinking it's a joke.

Not only is it not a joke it does an exceptional job of opening a can neatly just under the rim of the can leaving a nice edge and creating a lid out of the top.

I bought three of these after that two to take as house gifts to New Zealand which says a lot about how much I love this can opener. Bought an extra for the next shower I go to and after a bit of puzzlement they'll start buying them for their friends.

At this point I am very happy to have a cat that eats canned foods gives me an excuse to create a wonderfully tidy lid and avoid the plastic wrap.

This single-handled opener gets bewildered looks and rave reviews from all who've seen and used it at our house. It attaches to cans easily, and smoothly removes the lid from the can, leaving no sharp edges. The knob is comfortable to grasp, and easy to turn.

I was going to give one to my parents, but my Mother recently developed a problem where the tendon in her thumb contracted, and turning the knob was too painful for her; so people with arthritis or similar mobility issues may also have difficulty with this opener and may prefer an electric one.

Best Deals for Fissler 020 081 18 000 Magic Smooth-Edge Can Opener

This product lives up to the rave reviews of other buyers. It works so easily and effectively. Unlike many can openers of this type, it is compact and easily stores in my kitchen gadget drawer.

Honest reviews on Fissler 020 081 18 000 Magic Smooth-Edge Can Opener

I generally wear out a good quality (KitchenAid) manual can opener about every 3 years. Cheaper can openers are just frustrating from the start. I was looking for something better. While $26 seems a bit much for a manual can opener, the reviews on this one were so glowing that I decided to give it a try. I have been using this can opener for 2 months.

Some of the other reviews would lead you to believe this can opener will save our civilization, cure every known disease, lead to world peace, and make you more attractive so you can get laid. While I share enthusiasm for this device, to be perfectly honest it may fail to deliver on one or two of those criteria.

What it does do is to open cans by cutting around the outside of the lid, where the lid is crimped onto the body of the can. As you twist the knob to cut the lid, a threaded shaft causes the drive gear to tighten the cutting wheel against the can so the cutting wheel can penetrate the metal. When you have cut completely around the lid, a quarter turn in reverse loosens the cutting wheel from the can. You then need to lift the lid off the can, which can sometimes be difficult because it is such a smooth cut there is little edge to grasp. If there is a vacuum in the can (which there should be in most cases unless it is bulging with botulism) it can require a little effort to break the lid free.

If you are in the habit of draining liquid from cans by holding the lid inside the can and inverting it over your sink, you will need to change your ways. Because the lid is cut on the outside of the can, the lid cannot be pushed down inside to leave a gap for draining the liquid.

After 2 months of using the can opener, I still feel a little bit of excitement every time there is a can to be opened because this can opener works so well. One might well buy a half dozen of these and invite friends over for a can opening party that would earn you a reputation as a host able to provide unique entertainment.

Because the cutting is done on the outside of the can, well away from the contents, the opener does not get food debris on it to clog the mechanism like ordinary openers do. I have not yet needed to even rinse the opener.

With all these glowing comments, why do I give a rating of only 4 out of 5? Although the opener is working superbly now, I have little doubt that over time the cutting wheel will dull and the teeth on the drive gear will wear down and lose the traction needed to cut around the lid. The basic structure is solid and would warrant a repair rather than to be discarded. Yet, there appears to be no way a consumer can replace the cutting wheel nor drive gear. It would not have taken much change of the design to allow these parts to be replaced by the consumer, and to offer the replacement parts to do this. Searching on the Fissler website for parts for this can opener produced the result "No replacement parts for this product could be found."

If this can opener lasts 10 years, it will have given better value than the KitchenAid can openers I have found disappointing, but at this point I remain skeptical that it will fully justify the $26 price. Still, I expect you will find this is the best can opener you have ever used. I do highly recommend it and would buy another if a burglar took mine along with my other expensive goods.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Fissler 020 081 18 000 Magic Smooth-Edge Can Opener

This is by far the best and easiest can opener I've ever used. I have used it on all sizes, from tiny cans of tomato paste to the giant 128 oz cans of tomatoes and it has worked flawlessly with all of them.

You simply set the opener on top and turn the handle...as soon as the resistance stops you can easily lift up the can top with the smoothest edge I've ever seen created by an opener. Not having to 'squeeze' any handles is great and I personally find it very easy to turn. It also looks great and has good feel to it...a feeling that it will be durable and last.

I personally say pay a little more for something that is quality and will last. As far as can openers go, this fits that bill perfectly.
