Researching mini cocottes, I was annoyed by many reviewers complaining that they are small, and if you've read as many of these complaints as I have, you are probably writing me off right now as someone who doesn't bother to read the provided information about capacity and dimensions. I, however, am complaining because I did read and consider carefully, and I decided on this one because it was listed as a "12-Ounce Mini Oval Cocotte."
I am a huge fan of Le Creuset enameled cast iron, but think Le Creuset stoneware is overpriced and far less useful, so I was at first inclined to buy Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 1/3-Quart Mini Cocotte, Red but I decided that its listed size (1/3 quart) wasn't enough larger than my 8 oz. Staub mini cocotte to make much difference; I was looking for something slightly larger.
I decided on this, despite its being overpriced stoneware, because 12 ounces sounded about right, so imagine my disappointment when it arrived and right on the box it says its capacity is 1/3 quart, the exact size of the enameled cast iron mini-cocotte I had rejected as too small.
Of course, it was the box that was correct and the Amazon description that was misleading. I am now trying to decide whether to return it. It's a nice enough 1/3 quart mini casserole but not worth Le Creuset prices.

what a pretty pretty item to give as a hostess gift. It's tiny but so pretty! I'm proud to give them as gifts--great "stocking stuffers" filled with treats. !!
